Easygoing choice offering an array of traditional Thai dishes & sushi rolls, plus beer & wine.
The padi with tofu was very tasty and good.
I couldn't believe the food portion was so large I was stuffed after eating a quarter to half. Left overs are always a good thing, though.
The staff were super friendly and helpful. My glass was never below half the whole time there.
I didn't get any sushi because the padi was so large, but I did save room for sticky mango. Now that was delicious!

The inside was beautiful! We loved the set-up so much. I got yellow curry and it was SOOO good. Also, the price? THE BEST! We got THREE appetizers, two thai teas, and TWO FULL ENTREES...for 60$? At other Thai restaurants, that would've been over 100$ in Atlanta! The service was AMAZING!!! 100% recommend this restaurant, the food, service, and aesthetic were top tier!
Service was good, the atmosphere was pleasant, however the food was pretty bland. The chicken we ordered had a fishy taste, my husband did not wanted to complain. The spicy spaghetti was very watery and bland, the vegetables were undercooked. The basil rolls had probably one or two basil, the rest was mostly lettuce and one shrimp wrapped in a rice paper. The only thing we liked were the mango rolls, but not enough for us to return. We ended up packing our food and left.
We have lunch together and share the foods. We choose tofu soup, mixed vegetables, and fried red snapper. The waiter serves us with a friendly smile. After waiting for about 30 minutes, the food arrives. The aroma of the fried fish is delightful, with a sweet, tangy, and spicy taste. The vegetables have a sweet flavor due to the oyster sauce.
I particularly enjoy the fish; it’s not fishy, and the fish is still fresh.
I don't eat here often, but when I do I'm always impressed. The food is favorable and made to your desired spice tolerance, and the portions are perfect- not too much, but enough to satisfy your appetite when you are hungry. As a bonus, the service is wonderful. The ladies are so sweet and make you feel welcomed.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but lunch was not good. I ordered half unsweetened half sweet. Tea was soured. Meaning the sweet tea pitcher either wasn’t properly cleaned or it still contained yesterdays tea which soured overnight.
Ordered New York roll: menu clearly says topped with spicy tuna and yellowtail binstead, it was topped with some type of orange paste with no taste.
Husband ordered spicy basil lunch with pork. Zero basil in the disk. Disappointing
Very warm place and great food and service

I ordered the fresh basil rolls and the panang chicken curry. The rolls are supposed to have gulf shrimp, there was literally one in each roll while there was wayyyy too much lettuce. For six bucks for 2 rolls I expect at least a little more shrimp. The panang curry was good but the chicken was fairly dry. For a first time visit it didn’t make a great impression.
Food is OK, not seasoned, very well. Chicken was cut too thick and really chewy. The restaurant is very clean and it has a good vibe inside but my waitress was very slow and hardly checked on me.🤷♂️

I never review places I freaking love sweet basil nobody has better sushi, nobody has better panang curry, nobody has better pad see eu, I would rather die than eat at any other Thai restaurant. Also, the prices are amazing. I don’t eat out cuz it’s expensive and I’m in school EXCEPT for sweet basil cuz it’s so reasonable❤️
I really wanted to like it because of how kind the servers were, but the Pad-See-Eu was flavorless and bland. It almost had no color because of how little sauce it had. The atmosphere could also use some work, it feels like a large lifeless room.
Fantastic restaurant with great service!
Always a favorite. Been going for years.
Great time with my lady
Always good food and service. Place is always clean
Food was so good! Great location and the service was amazing. I also got a to go dish of noodles for a Christmas party. Everyone loved them! I will definitely be back.
My husband and I love sweet basil and drive from dalton as often as we can to order from sweet basil. Staff are kind and food is delicious
The food was underwhelming to say the least, room temperature sushi. Atmosphere is like a diner. Will not be going back.
Good food and service. Plenty of tables. Plenty of parking.
This restaurant is absolutely amazing! Our service was so great and she gave us suggestions. We got the yellow curry & the pad kee mao w/ chicken. The Singha and Asahi beer was flavorful too. Everything was so so good! We will 100% be back! :)
This is the only place I can get my girlfriend to agree to every time. The yellow curry, pad kee mao, and fried rice are all amazing. The lunch deals are so worth it. 10/10 can’t wait to come here again
So fresh and family feel to the food. Not greasy. Yummy.
I ordered basil cups & pad Thai. These were fine. Hot and quickly served. The restaurant was very cold--too much AC. So wear a sweater or jacket. Plenty of parking and we were served without reservations. Service was great.
Stellar service and superb food. Everything I tried was so flavorful. Som-Tam, Tom-Kha-Kai Soup, spicy crab roll, avocado roll, spicy green curry and panang curry. I will be back soon. Thanks for a great experience!
Best Thai food in East Brainerd!
I order Pad-See-Eu with two peppers on Doordash recently. After the restaurant received the order ,I was told that there would be an additional one dollar charge. When I received the order, I realized that I was charged for green peppers. I didn't order green peppers! You can order this dish with or without peppers and there isn't an additional charge for the hot peppers. The employee that took this order must have been new.
I’ve been going here since it opened, and it’s been my favorite restaurant for as long as I can remember. Chattanooga has some great options for Thai, but I choose Sweet Basil every time!
I LOVE this place, its food, its service, I recommend it, I am more than delighted and will definitely return.

Excellent Thai food. We got Panang Curry and Pad Thai with shrimp. Food came out quickly and tasted amazing. We're out of town, but will come again when we visit Chattanooga, it's that good!
Very welcoming, quiet, clean, and tasty place for some Thai food. Fried spring rolls were probably the best we’ve ever had.
Highly recommend... Delicious! 😋🤤
Friendly service. Average food
Carry out of panang curry with chicken. Perfect taste and amount. Spring rolls need to be eaten as soon as possible or they get a little soggy, still delicious. Price was a little high, however there was enough food for 2 meals. I am a repeat customer, I will go back again.
They close before their hours of operation!! Next time make sure you don’t keep your sign as open and make sure you fix your hours of operation with google
Glad we found this little Thai restaurant. The food is fresh and consistent. We can't wait to come back!
The red Thai curry is so amazing and every time we go there we get great service and the price is very reasonable for dinner.
Had the Crispy duck which was oily, dark & hardly had any meat on it. 03 Flavor fish was mainly Chinese flavored. Hardly has Thai flavor which was disappointing. However, Good service & spacious.
Loved the cheese roll.
The crispy duck is a favorite dish.
Top notch service, food, atmosphere, & prices! This place is a gem.

I particularly enjoy the fish; it’s not fishy, and the fish is still fresh.
If you’re a good person, then you owe it to your mouth to try Sweet Basil’s Chicken Panang Curry. Their sushi rolls are excellent too. They have lots of GF options.
Great Thai food with great service
We came for my 11 year olds birthday. The food was AMAZING! The service was perfect! They even brought him dessert! We will be eating here again when in Chattanooga!
Great place, the food is always excellent, just got takeout this time but food was ready when we showed up.
A real Thai cuisine, I love their spicy basil and Nam sod.
Consistently a wonderful place to eat. Good food, great service. The to-go is already prepared when promised and big portion sizes. The lady that owns the place is always very inviting and working hard.
My boyfriend and I eat here once a week MINIMUM. This is the best Thai in town !!!! We have even taken friends who have been to Thailand and they are so impressed by the quality of the food. The staff are so friendly and they make you feel like family. There isn’t one thing on the menu I’ve tried that I haven’t enjoyed. The food is always hot, always fresh, and always delicious. Consistency is huge for me when frequenting a restaurant and time and time again Sweet Basil delivers. The food is also reasonably priced in proportion to what you get. I have probably eaten here 50 times in the last year and they have not disappointed me once!!!
Great service, clean restaurant and food (not very oily). Delicious and carefully made sushi options; it’s a consistent favorite. Phoning them is tricky though, phone number may not work.
We had the chicken satay, beef satay, sushi, & soup. The soup was very bland- no taste at all & lukewarm. The satays were pretty good. We also ordered green tea & had to go find the waitress to bring the tea. When it came, it was not even close to hot. When we finished eating, we waited for the waitress to bring the check…never came so we went to the bar to pay. There were only 2 other tables there while we were there.
Great food, friendly service. I like that they'll call you with questions if they don't understand your call in order
I love eating here. The service and food are wonderful.
Some of the best food in Chattanooga! Very affordable too.
Super friendly staff. Went above and beyond expectations on Customer Service. Food was fresh and very flavorful!
Always had good service until this last visit. The bill was $48 and we paid the young lady $50. Said keep the change. We then put $15 on the table as part of the tip. She must have thought that $2 was her tip and told the other staff. When I said goodbye they all stuck their noses into the air. That was ridiculous and petty. We won’t go back.
My favorite Thai place
Great specials but regular dishes are just okay. Excellent attentive service. "Thai hot spicy" dishes weren't spicy at all, not even moderately.
I didn’t know we have a good Thai restaurant here until I tried food here on last weekend. No need to go to Atlanta for a good Thai food anymore. We have tried Pad Thai, Tom Yum soup, Fried rice and Panang curry.
Fried rice was tasteless without salt and spice but Panang curry was the best dish.
A suggestion to management is washroom odor could have been taken care well.
Food is great. The papaya salad is delicious. Crispy duck was nice and crispy with the basil.
Service is very hospitable. Server was very nice and not overwhelming.
Decent Thai, Great service, but not authentic. The larb chicken was pretty good, but the pad Thai and Pad See ew were both very large portions, will very little vegetables.
Great service. The food was okay. Two different dishes were almost the same.
First time I ever had sushi...will not be the last.
Sweet Basil always has the best tasting food, freshest ingredients, impeccable service, & friendly staff! I have been dining there for over 20 years and never been disappointed.
Mmmfrick.
Hands down, this is Chattanooga's best Thai restaurant. They've been here for years. The atmosphere is quiet and cozy, even during busy times. The food is excellent, and the prices can't be beat.
Lunch boxes are available for those in a hurry, and you can order sushi as well.
If you go, try the Sweet Basil Cups. I'm not entirely sure what's in them, but they're delicious.
I'm biased, lived in NYC for 3 decades. Of course everything else pales.
The sushi is great and affordable
Food very good nice
The food is to die for. They are a good go to place for great food. The staff is great and friendly. You have to go. Anything you get will be awesome.
BEST SUSHI IN CHATTANOOGA! And the owner is always so friendly and personable. It's my favorite place to eat in all of the places in chattanooga.
The food was equal parts delicious and beautiful, and the staff were attentive and friendly. With cozy booths, open spaces, and reasonable pricing, I would surely go back and recommend it as a must try.
Huge entree plates with enough food for 3 people. Pad Thai was ok but not the best. Pad swe was lacking authenticity.
Amazing place! Great food and great service.
Solid Thai food that is thin on service but predictably tasty.
pretty good sushi... a little over priced
Food was fine but service was slow as molasses. Only a couple of tables were occupied and the 3 waitresses were just hanging around not doing much.
This place is great. The Masaman Curry is one of my favorite things on the planet. The soups and spring rolls are fantastic too. I've never heard an negative thing from anyone I've dined here with.
They have a pretty varied lunch special menu to choose from. They have sushi on the lunch special menu to choose from as well as the many entree's. They detail how their chili icons are used to describe the amount of heat in the legend. The service was quick and friendly and they checked on us periodically as we were trying to make a decision on what to order. The food was prepared quick even with the moderate lunch crowd. The flavor was great and the level of spice described was just right. Shared parking is plentiful but not all may be immediately in front of the restaurant.
First time visiting the restaurant. The service was great. Really enjoyed the food. Authentic and delicious. I look forward to my next visit. Will try the curry.
One of those little well kept secrets around town, Sweet Basil has been in business for many years and has some of the best Thai food I've found in various travels, definitely the best in town. It's very peaceful and easy to carry a conversation even at lunch peak, unlike more bustling options.
Can't go wrong with their panang curry or pad Thai.
Aroy maaak! 😋
Wow. This is my fourth Thai restaurant I’ve tried in Chattanooga, they have by far the best Pad Thai in town. It’s a simple staple Dish but they give a very large portion and it is very saucy (i prefer more sauce, I haven’t seen a place that gives you this much, it’s what makes it the best!). I also got their Som Tum papaya salad and yellow curry and they were both amazing. I’ve been looking for a Pad Thai that tasted just like it was made in Thailand, and I am happy to say I finally found the place. I am curious if their Pad Kra Pow is good, too, so I will be trying that next.
They have a unique vibe inside the restaurant, quite fancy for a Thai restaurant, white table cloths and linens with great calming music. The waitress was phenomenal and very attentive. I’ll absolutely be back!!
Best Thai Food in Chattanooga; Staff is incredibly kind, helpful, and friendly. Highly recommend.
It isn't the best Thai in the world, but it is really good and the portion sizes are very large. I come fairly regularly for pick-up and I recommend them a lot.
Excellent authentic Thai food
Thank you for the delicious meal and kind service!
The food was good quality and very tasty.
Great food. Great service. Will definitely go back.
Woah this place is good. The lobster special was amazing. Appetizers, soup. And everything else was great. Waiter was very attentive and helpful.
On a trip to Chattanooga had a chance to eat at Sweet Basil with family. The place was busy which means of it being well liked. Had the general fare Chicken Satay, potato pancakes, prik king, pad thai. Overall a great place to eat. The staff was great and made sure the guests were looked after well.
Although the decor is bland and dated, the personal service and delicious food make it a great hidden gem in this area of Chattanooga.
The most bland fried rice I've ever had. It was just plain fried rice with a few scattered scallions, tomato slices, and chicken pieces. There were no seasonings, veggies, or other ingredients to add flavor.
Been a regular customer for many years. Food is always hot and fresh. Portions are large and reasonably priced. Staff is wonderful and always able to accommodate my gluten free and other dietary concerns. Always enjoyable! My favorite place to eat!
Great people. Great service. Great food.
Food was good. I have had much better but for the price it's a fair deal.
It was decent. The service was pleasant and took care of us. I'd go again. To be fair to them, I'm not a huge fan of Thai, I went with a friend.
Great food and friendly staff.
My favorite Thai food restaurant 😋
Love it!!
The food is consistently good. Also, their sushi and sashimi is always fresh. This place has been around for years for a good reason.
I love the Thai tea and the yellow curry with chichen.
This is our go-to place for Asian cuisine! Everything there is delicious and the staff are always super friendly.
They have a lightly fried, spicy grouper fillet that is out of this world!
Our server was so incredible! She was kind, attentive, and so thoughtful. The food was great too! Overall wonderful experience!
Definitely NOT a vibe. Did not have siracha sauce and food was BEYOND bland
Delicious food and great service !
The food was okay.
Over the past two years, I have had the pleasure of dining at this establishment on numerous occasions. I even had the opportunity to introduce some friends to this place. However, I must admit that in recent times, their Curry Fried Rice and Pad Thai have lost their usual flavorful touch. They seemed to lack any distinctive taste unless accompanied by some curry. On the bright side, their curries continue to impress, and the appetizers remain delightful as ever.
Can't say enough good things about this place. Food and service are awesome. You can't tell from the outside, but don't miss having a meal here!]
Very good, some of the food is bland and tastes if don't get it with some heat.
Red curry wasn't reddish, I thought it was meant to be red. Other than that, we like it.
Love the crispy duck amazing
Very Bland food
I love Thai food, however I was disappointed with my food. The flavor was just bland, which isnt what thai food is, its very flavorful. I will definitely give it a second shot. The service and atmosphere was great.
Pretty place, food was great. Waitress was very friendly and attentive.
We had a large group of 30 people, they handled the service pretty well, and the food came out hot and delicious.
Just discovered this place and it is really nice. The staff is awesome and the food is authentic and very good. Mango with sweet sticky rice is perfect and just like Thailand. Tim Yom soup delicious as is the Green Papaya Salad. Nice wine selection also.
Awesome food & service, in a great environment
Very good set lunch menu
This is my neighborhood Thai spot and it’s so good. The food is - year after year- really tasty and I’ve had many dishes here. I love the tom-yum-kung, pad kee mao, panang curry, and sweet basil cups. I have celiac disease and i’m pretty sensitive to gluten and the food here has never made me sick. This will stay a staple!!
Absolute pros. Came with a friend for lunch and had some of the best food in a while. Rama curry is delicious and the basil rolls were a great appetizer.
