The last time I was here, it was years ago when I was a college student. I have fond memories eating here with friends in the cool ambiance of the "Rain Room" and sharing bites of mango sticky rice.

I came here with a friend visiting from out of town. We were seated pretty quickly. To my surprise, I had no idea they served sushi here so we got the California roll. My friend had some type of curry, I think the Red Curry with tofu. And I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken at medium spice.

Usually I order Pad Thai at different restaurants with medium spice and it's been the level of spicy that I expect. However this time, my Pad Thai wasn't spicy at all. If anything, it tasted mild with slightly spicy pockets here and there in between the noodles. So I was pretty disappointed at the spice level.

Other than that aspect, my Pad Thai was good. It was flavorful, nutty, and had the perfect amount of sauce to noodle ratio. The noodles had a good consistency and the veggies were crunchy and fresh. Sushi was tasty as well.

Our server checked up on us multiple times and was friendly. However at the table we were seated at, we were lacking a couple things like soy sauce and spicy/hot sauce. Although our server was quick to get us what we needed.

Overall, I'd give this place a 3.5/5.

Update Dec 2024; We had Thai Spicy Fried Rice and Pepper Steak (upgraded the rice to fried rice with the Pepper Steak). The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. There is plenty of shared parking, although it gets busy there is still plenty of room. The tables are separated by smoked plexiglass which I believe is new from COVID protocols but adds a bit more privacy so it is an added plus. The Spring Rolls and the crispy rolls are very good and come 6 to an order. The Masaman curry was very good and I opted for the upcharge for fried rice.

We have gone to this restaurant several times in person over the YEARS. It was a great experience. We ordered tonight’s dinner “to go” and it was terrible. We ordered our same dish- Pad Woonsen and there’s NO protein, barely any veggies, and the noodles are dry. Do better with your to go orders, Rain. Very disappointing.

After church, four of us came to for lunch. This was my 3rd visit to Rain Thai Bistro. Not knowing much about Thai food, I always rely on someone in my party, or my server to help me decide on my entree. For an appetizer, we had the Spring Rolls. For my entree, I chose the Pad Wonsoon. Our meal was absolutely delicious & prepared perfectly. Our wonderful server was Gracie who gave us Five Star Service.... Highly recommend Rain Thai Bistro!

Not their finest moment. I got about half a plate of chicken fried rice. That was absolutely flavorless. Not even salt. I asked for medium to hot. My spring rolls were burnt and tasted like oil. And I got literally half a tiny container of tangy sauce for all 6 spring rolls lol. It was $30 not well spent. Huge disappointment.

Our family LOVES coming here. Every visit is better than the last. This visit was especially noteworthy because Brooke was our server and she was INCREDIBLE! We came for my husband's birthday and she really made the celebration so much fun. Highly recommend this bistro and finding Brooke as your server!

Rain is the go to place for Thai food. Amazing. And if you want REALLY hot, ask for Thai hot 1-10. Personally I can only make it to 7.

Amazing restaurant! Admittedly this is my first time eating there but we've had take out from here dozens of times for family gatherings/dinner.
Our server tyler was very kind and attentive and answered all our questions. Food was simply amazing. Thai basil noodles is my new favorite thing. Definitely want to go back with just my wife and myself and sit in the center room on the floor for that true thai experince and enjoy some sushi that they dont serve on mondays and tuesdays.

bought take out from broad street unit - don't waste you money - paid top dollar, for at best cheap take out meal. $19 pad thai was no better then leftovers, zero flavor, 6 tiny shrimp, don't understand the high marks this place gets -

It's an odd mix of a place, all very good but seems to miss the feeling of somewhere special by an ephemeral smidge. Good food., better when you add some spice (ask for the sauces) and service similar to big chain places, good..

Went here for the second time by accident, I moved to Chattanooga about 8 months ago and I tried this place during that turn period and came again. Food is very good, I just so happed to get a not so good waitress and she got a 2% tip so maybe she will learn. But food was good

Rain Thai Bistro has been a favorite of ours since they first opened, and for good reason—it’s always top-notch! The sushi is consistently delicious, but the Spicy Tuna Rolls and Chattanooga Rolls are absolute standouts. You can’t go wrong with any of their entrees, either, but one of my personal favorites is the Spicy Basil Noodles. It’s an incredible combination of spices, textures, and flavors—a perfect way to sneak in some veggies if you’re like me!

The only minor complaint I could think of is that sometimes small issues happen, like ordering pho with extra meatballs and not getting them. But even with occasional hiccups, we always find ourselves coming back because the quality and flavors are just that good.

Rain Thai Bistro is a gem, and I can’t imagine anyone not loving it here. Highly recommend!

You guys really need a makeover this restaraunt is starting to look ran down. Food is still great but the cleanliness and atmosphere is not at all price quality.

The server left off several appetizers and my to go orders. The lack of additional types of dressings for the salad. The PHO seasonless and Pad Thai was highly spicy unable to eat it.

Best of Chatt? I hope not.. the dumplings were hard and cold. The inside is a finely shredded mixture, kind of a Laarb fyi. It is not for my tastes but thst's personal preference. There was a fat string of ketchup.. (really ketchup not some interesting Thai sauce) strung across the top of crash and burn fried california roll. Maybe I've outgrown my region but everything was super salty and super sweet. The broccoli was good in the fried garlic dish but i missed the fried garlic. I'm pretty sure I misinterpreted the menu descriptions. Looks like a great happy hour/bar though. It was Friday late afternoon. Comfortable booth. Did I mention they have tetami (sp.) seating in a private room in the middle of the restaurant? love that. Nobody doing that. Staff was friendly but it's still that "full hands in full hands out" detail that I see missing from so many restaurants' staff. Everyone is fine with bringing out food when it's hot usually no one wants to pick up dirty dishes. Maybe the busboy was sick. Bathrooms were clean!

The food was delicious and our waitress went above and beyond.

I would say the service and food is amazing! I had an amazing server, Brooke. She was extremely efficient, fast, and always smiling. You could tell she loves doing what she’s doing and was happy to be there. She was very Quick to accommodate to what we asked for! Definitely happy with this place :)

I love the atmosphere and service when I’m at the Bar here. Fast service, great food, and a welcoming atmosphere. It’s even better when Kaitlin is behind the bar. She is such a wonderful expert of customer service and knowledge of the menu, the drinks, and remembering customers and catering to their requests. Can’t say enough good things about my experience when she’s there.

Worst experience ever

Staying in town for a few days. We tried Rain Thai. We really enjoyed it for lunch. Food was hot and flavorful. The restaurant was clean and good atmosphere. Great choice. Great fast and courteous service.

Always quick service and friendly staff. Food is consistently good quality; only complaint is that they air on the less-spicy side (which is good for people who are unsure of what spice level they want, but can be frustrating for those who want their mouths to burn). The staff does have hot sauce and chili oil on hand so you can spice as you wish.
Sushi is always fresh and if you sit at the car you can watch them prep it. Food is also delivered in a timely manner and the restaurant seems clean.

Rain is one of the most consistently good restaurants in the area. I've never had a bad meal dining here. They do tend to be very busy with a long wait at peak hours. Try to come before the dinner rush.

This is a great restaurant. The food is always excellent. You may have to wait on a table because it is so busy but it is worth it.

Sadly, this is no longer my favorite restaurant, and I used to go frequently. I have given them four chances, and the food is just not good anymore. I was served a meal that was clearly burnt since both the chicken and noodles had burnt marks. It also tasted burnt. The cook is afraid to add spice regardless of what level you request. My last visit I requested Thai hot and it wasn’t even medium. They need to get rid of that cook because their parking lot isn’t full anymore. You don’t have to wait to be seated anymore. I’ll definitely be finding a new place for Thai.

Ordered take out while I was at work. My employees and I, that ordered takeout from there all got sick. It has been 2 days and I am still sick. Be careful ordering here, you might get food poisoning.

This restaurant has really gone down when it first opened up. The food was authentic but now the food was not authentic. I ordered a specific order and they did not get my order correct?

The sushi rice is like a porridge !
It’s doesn’t look like a restaurant made Sushi & Sashimi. They’re awfully ugly.
The sushi chef did not wear a hat.
It is unprofessional if you’re working as a chef.

Was turned away at 9:15pm. Kitchen doesn’t do takeouts unless you’re already sitting at the bar waiting for food. Manager says they’re open till 10pm but will stop serving people closer to 9pm on Saturdays apparently. Some of the bar patrons were allowed to place new order s for takeout. I traveled from Nashville to visit here and other places this weekend and was extremely disappointed with how the staff are a lot more mean than they used to be.

Our go to Thai restaurant. We love their fried rice, basil noodles and spring rolls. The price is a bit expensive, especially dinner menu.

Caution, during order pickup or delivery please make sure you got all the items properly. They almost all the time forget to get our Thai iced tea and we had to remind them or ask for a credit.

Other than that the taste is amazing and portion sizing is also good.

Best Thai in town

Food is great - has an authentic Thai taste.
However a couple of things:
- When packaging to go food in a Styrofoam box, they should use a layer of Aluminum foil to prevent the hot food from coming into direct contact with Styrofoam, for health benefits. Better yet, use environmental (and health) friendly biodegradable materials for to go packages.
- There was also quite a wait when I went to pick up the food from the Bar - there was no one at the bar. One of the people at the front desk (there were 3 of them) should coordinate and have the To Go orders ready for the customer

So my food had metal in it. The refunded the meals (not the drinks, which I kinda felt was a minimum given the situation but whatever). It was a piece of their cleaning brush evidently and I overheard it was the second time it's happened this week. (that they've caught) according to the manager "yeah they use the brushes for too long, we've talked to them about it" doesn't look like the talk helped. Stay away.

Food is always delicious but something very unappetizing happened at my visit today. A young kid was wiping silverware at the sushi bar and not wearing gloves. He was also periodically touching and looking at his phone, eating from a to go box, then going back to wiping silverware without washing his hands. That is disgusting and unacceptable.

I’ve been here several times. Order Togo food plenty of times. Always have a good experience here. This is one of the only places I get Togo food. It’s always hot and fresh. I personally have never been disappointed anytime I have come here. I will say I ordered a steak salad one time and it had a bit of bone in it. This was a mistake and def didn’t complain. Just be careful next time please.

Eating for many years in this place the food always good and the same in flavor but I missing the lower section decorations was very romantic and cozy.
Over all this place one of best in Chattanooga.

Basil Spring rolls, Tom gha ka soup, Yello currently w/ tofu, spicy basil noodles. Absolutely delicious. We even sat in the center room where they have cushions on the floor for seating. The decor, service, and food was excellent. I would have preferred more traditional Thai music instead of modern rock country, and the amount of air freshener around the bathroom nearly gave me an asthma attack.

This was my first visit to Rain, and it was amazing! The food was delicious, the restaurant was clean, and the wait staff was very friendly and attentive.

Best fried rice I've ever had, must get spicy. They won't share the recipe, I've tried. Atmosphere is too fancy pants.

Ordered to go and took forever because my order wasn’t where it should’ve been and both hosts neglected to ask for my name. So after 30 minutes I ask if it went through under my name and one host walks back to the kitchen. Ordered the Thai curry and it is good just not worth the terrible customer service. All you need to do is ask a name or if one has been helped. Sheesh.

Big fan of their curry and tofu dishes. They’ve also got delicious duck and some of the tastiest spring rolls in town! Never a bad experience at this place.

Got a carry out. Nice enough restaurant and people. Food was decent. Very little to it. Lunch portion of panang curry was $13 there was an amount equal to a large cup of soup. Very little protein, very scant vegetables… I probably wouldn’t return

Birthday alone. ID'd when I ordered a glass of wine so I told them "It's my Birthday". Food was great. Service was great. Gave me a birthday small discount and ice cream. Made my alone birthday the best I've ever had.

Great Thai!! Had the Yellow curry and it was 💵! Wife had cashew chicken and it was great as well. Highly recommended! Start with the crispy rolls!

Their Shrimp Fried Rice, the best in the city!

I’ve been here a few times, and they’ve never disappointed. I came in the other day because I was in the mood for some sushi, and I heard they are pretty good. Unfortunately the sushi chef was going on lunch at the time I came in. They did offer to ask the sushi chef if he’d stay to make me a roll, but I told them not to worry about it. I got the spring rolls, and I got the Thai curry. Always so good, never disappointed, and the service is always on point. Def check this place out if you haven’t yet.

The service was great. I had the pad Thai and it was ok. The medium spice level was just right. Sadly all the curries contain fish sauce. So for a vegetarian the menu is limited. Make sure and let them know you don’t want fish sauce in your dish.

The food was OK at best. It was warm at best. We got a fried sushi roll that had been sitting for a while it was soggy and was not a full roll for $9. The portion size to price is not worth it at all! I used to come to Rain pretty often and it was worth the price for how big the portions were. Now it's just enough to kinda fill you up. All of the currys are $16 for i would say 6-8 oz. Our waiter was great though, it was busy. He kept our drinks full and checked on us several times through our meal.

As someone who has regularly visited Rain Thai over the past decade, it has been a shame seeing how much more expensive even lunch has gotten. Not only have menu prices exponentially risen, but portion sizes have noticeably reduced. On my most recent visit, they started charging a couple dollars extra for spiciness level. That is just pathetic and simply petty of the management team. Though prices have risen everywhere, this type of up-charge is unheard of and seems like they’re unnecessarily trying to make more margin. I cannot recommend this place to anyone anymore and will refuse to spend over $20 (including tax and tip) for a small lunch portion of fried rice and water.

Edit: We went back and this time received a paper receipt. Must’ve been the server we had that day that carried the device. We’ll just avoid her as our server when we come in. I changed the stars to 4.

Food is good, but please get rid of the mobile card swipers the servers carry around. The servers hand the devices over, touched by all who enter the restaurant ( gross ), and stand over you as you go through the tip screen. They are in such a hurry too you feel very pressured. I like to discuss the tipping with my husband because there are many times we like to leave more than normal if the server is great. Unfortunately it ruins the experience for us, the extra for the server and it’s really tacky to say the least. Also, your machines are calculating tip suggestions including the tax which is not right.

Food was great! Evan was the funniest and best server I have ever had!

Rain’s sushi chef’s schedule is disappointing and frustrating. Every time I come, there is some issue and sushi is unavailable. Today, we arrived for sushi and we were told he was on a 45 minute to an hour break; his break ending at 5:30. Dinner customers begin to arrive around 5:00. As other diners around me began to order sushi, and were told the same thing, you could see diners’ disbelief that the sushi chef would be on a break during supper hours. While I understand he needs a break, perhaps Rain should hire a second chef so to allow a break while still providing food offered on their menu. We have been Rain regulars for over 15 years, but I sadly continue to be disappointed each time I come in…because my family’s food was non-sushi, theirs was readily available. My sushi was ready 30 minutes later, so I got it to go as to not detain my family any longer.

At one time, this was a fantastic restaurant but as the years have gone by, the quality has dropped. Stopped by before the dinner rush and we were promptly greeted and shown to our table. The floor was littered with trash, food, and utensils. The walls need a thorough cleaning or even a fresh coat of paint. The waiter was friendly and the food arrived in a timely fashion. It wasn't bad but on the bland side and that's unfortunate because it wasn't always this way. Bathroom trash was overflowing which means it was left neglected for a long time despite me watching an employee exit the restroom.

Visited my folks and they took me here as they have had great experiences. This dining experience was no different! Gracie was our server and she was awesome! She provided informed menu recommendations upon request and we ordered them - they were winners for all of us! I will be excited to dine here again!!

Been coming here for years with my family and have never witnessed the issues we had earlier tonight. After being seated for 10-20 minutes with no acknowledgement from our sever, we were finally able to place our order. He didn't greet us, give us his name, or anything else. Just said "What do you want?", and that was our only interaction other than him silently dropping off our waters. Then we witnessed our sever angrily chase out the party that had been seated next to us because he was unhappy with his tip. He was very rude, and made several comments about "groups like them". After watching him stand outside and argue with them for another 10-15 minutes, my husband and I left without receiving our food. We were very uncomfortable with the server's behavior and will not be eating here for a long while. Rain has been my favorite local Thai place for years, but their standards have fallen significantly based on what we witnessed.

It's great.

The food was decent. Felt fresh. But somehow it lacked authenticity. I just was not finding myself really enjoying it like i usually do when eating Thai food. Something was missing. And the portions for what i was charged seemed a bit out of proportion. 1 pint of soup was about $10, and the main dish was the same quantity and was almost $20. I probably won’t go back. Very disappointed with the food here. I got massaman curry and the potatoes were not even cooked it looked like someone did a quick fast job just to get the food out. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I haven’t been to Rain in years because we didn’t live close by so I was really wanting to give it a go. My husband and I went and the experience was very good. He had the Masamen Curry and I had Rain’s Salmon. We were both very surprised that the food was amazing. We are definitely planning on going back soon.

Our waitress was amazing! The food did not disappoint! We had the Lad Nam and Curry spring rice Yummy! Its still as good 3 years later as it was the first time! Drinks were fabulous! We enjoyed the Tai Mule and the Tai Chata.

I'm not a huge fan of Thai food, but we were there for a birthday. I found something to eat, and the service was excellent. We also had huge portions! I took home enough for three more meals!

8/10 The Pad Thai was pretty delicious. Definitely the best I’ve tasted in the area. I’ve had better but it was in New York. Overall you won’t be disappointed,

Their mandarin chicken was amazing. The sauce was lemony sweet and sour poured over crispy chicken strips of chicken.

They close their kitchen 45 to 50 min before they say they close online. Just be prepared for that. They have no problem sending you away at 9:10 when their website says 10. They have a varied menu, so just go earlier.

The noodles are some of the best noodles in Chattanooga valley.
Service is pretty lacking on to go orders. It seems as though the portions are smaller on to go orders than dining in.
Take out of $19 for pad Thai. Which I think is too much for a basic dish.

Lunch with my friend. We ordered Tom Yum soup with seafood. I had high hopes for this restaurant, which supposedly serves authentic Thai food.

When the soup arrived, my first spoonful was disappointing. I didn't taste the freshness of lemongrass or the distinctive aroma of kaffir lime leaves. The soup's flavor could be described as bland, almost like it was made with ready-mixed seasoning.

The noodles were overwhelmingly dominated by the taste of soy sauce.

If you plan to visit this restaurant, don't expect too much. Lower your expectations to avoid disappointment.

Excellent service from Coty. We had the Crispy Rolls with sweet and sour sauce. My wife,Jamie, enjoyed Manderian Chicken. I enjoyed Cashew Chicken. It was delicious. Priced fair, albeit the cold, soft drinks were expensive. 3rd trip. Highly recommended.

Awesome food and if you like spicy food, they have excellent flavor AND spice!

Wonderful Sunday afternoon meal! Got the Rain Thai Curry, tofu with added bamboo shoots, extra pineapple and basil. Delicious!! Our server was phenomenal too!

Oh yes the spring rolls, fried rice and lo mein noodles are my fav!!
