Family-owned Asian fusion restaurant with Hibachi, Chinese, and sushi. Dine in with us or call in for a carry-out order today!
Was really excited to try this place after seeing some pictures online. The experience didn’t quite meet expectations but it wasn’t bad.
Portion size is really off in my opinion. The container was 3/4 rice and 1/4 tofu. I don’t eat much rice so I was left pretty hungry afterward. I posted a picture for scale.
The quality of the tofu was ok. Just wasn’t very crispy. Ate some fresh and some after getting home. texture was the same both times.
The dumplings were pretty good. The spring rolls were pretty solid as well.
Sweet potato roll was fine.
Overall everything was fine, I just don’t see myself going back.
This is my favorite restaurant PERIOD. Everything is always so good. the severs are so sweet, the chef is absolutely amazing and FAST. I come here maybe once a week. Amazing food, the sushi is absolutely fantastic and so is the hibachi. Really recommend! Also their food presentation is gorgeous. Anyone who has given this restaurant less than 5 stars is insane. Every single time i’ve come the food has been fantastic. Seriously! TRY IT!
Got takeout food from here tonight. Usually have had pretty good food, especially take out from here in the past but jeez talk about a disappointment. Picked up my food on time and it was pretty much cold by the time I got home 5 minutes up the road. Hibachi fried rice with chicken and veggies. Chicken tasted like cardboard and was abnormally chewy. Veggies were also bland and slimy. I assume the rice was made sometime in the last several hours/ this morning but was not fresh. If y'all are charging what you do for food at least make it semi worth it to your customers. Especially in this economy. It's not that hard to cook food it just takes a while which is why I wanted take out. The food was so bad I literally threw it in the trash. Won't be coming back here.
The food is absolutely DIVINE! I eat a lot of Sashimi due to my sensitive stomach and this was BY FAR THE BEST sashimi I've ever had. I'm not even exaggerating when I say I almost cried. The salmon and the white fish tasted so heavenly and the rice I got with it was seasoned deliciously. Their mochi ice cream was really good (if you're into mochi ice cream) and their stir fry was excellent! The ginger dressing was absolutely top-notch as well. Even the dragon scales were more delicious than I've ever had! The waiters were super polite and knew the menu well, which is always a plus. Their food was so good that I broke through my social anxiety JUST to tell them how good it was. The atmosphere was super homey and the music, although the usual style of music in those sorts of restaurants, wasn't too loud or any sort of bothering! (I have auditory issues so that's always a factor for me.) Their prices are on par with other restaurants of the same type, but their quality is ten times better! Will DEFINITELY be going back.
I've always looked over this place, and I regret that. I've ordered for pickup twice and both times the quality is just insane. Both times I've ordered it's been later in the evening. Compliments to the kitchen staff, you guys kill it. They've also given me free goodies both times I've ordered... that's an easy 5 stars...
Compared to other Asian restaurants in the area, this is, without a doubt, the best! The building and atmosphere are quite nice. Its decor is very well done, and the building is spotless! I always judge a restaurant by its restrooms. The ones there are without flaw and very clean. I got a glimpse into the kitchen, and it was also very clean! I loved the food. It wasn't your standard order chinese. It was fresh, tasty, hot, and the flavors were spot on! The staff was very kind, and the owner even made rounds, asking how the customers were. An old school touch of class, in my opinion. My only complaint was that the chicken was cut way too small and thin. If this was corrected, there'd be nothing to find wrong!
The prices are slightly high, but with today's economy, who's aren't? LOVE THIS PLACE! We'll be back, often!

Great food, great service. Cozy atmosphere.
Phenomenal food and wonderful staff. The owners are truly the nicest people, and care about everyone as they were their family!

Love the atmosphere and the food is so good, and the service is great. Everyone was so nice! 10/10!!!
They have the best hot and sour soup!
Always delicious, great service, and the sushi is great
I never write reviews but I’m an Asian food connoisseur and this place caught me by surprise, I’ve been to several rice box’s but never liked any until now, I love fried rice and this place did it perfectly, fresh ingredients, cleanly/perfectly cooked, it wasn’t overly oily like most places, I’m pretty sure the yum yum sauce and chili spice were both made by the restaurant themself, the customer service was great, very kind waitress and front desk lady, always ready to give you a refill, they even have fish tanks and the tanks themselves are very clean and the fish themselves looked healthy and happy, highly recommend eating here.
I recommend the house soup everytime!
Amazing value. Delicious food. Friendly service. Unbeatable pricing on quality sushi
Good food excellent sushi..
Service is great always greated with a smile.
Best Hot Sour Soup in Chattanooga.
just really fantastic food. owners are so sweet, great service. been coming here for at least a decade and never disappoints
Amazing atmosphere we came with a big group and they celebrated a friend's birthday. Very nice service.
I love Asian food and this is definitely above average in this area. A small restaurant with a very nice atmosphere and friendly service. My "go to" at a Chinese restaurant is Hot and Sour Soup and they, by far, have the best in the city.
Average quality on all their food ,but with 2 exceptions they got a sauce you can request on their menu to go with your hibachi that is better than white sauce and I got a sweetheart roll I think that was above average sushi
My goto for everyday Sushi and Hibachi. Always great.
I👏Love👏This👏Place!!!!
It never disappoints!
Our second time here the sesame chicken soooo good and the sushi the atmosphere nice clean and the manager everyone who answers phones so nice Definitely my favorite place will always be back.
Food is amazing and staff is friendly and courteous. We were given rice cookies with our order and the kids loved them 🙌❤️
So good and yummy! We love it! Are usual is the teriyaki chicken with rice and noodles everything we have tried tastes amazing!
I dash a lot of orders for Rice Boxx and they’re real good to us, always nice and very professional. They ALWAYS have the order ready and they pay well. I’m glad every time I see them pop up. They’re food is great. Thank you!
The service and the food was equally amazing! i would recommend this restaurant for anyone who likes a relaxed meal with family. I will definitely be coming back again! I would recommend getting the Asian Hotpot and Crab Rangoons!
My husband visits quite often for lunch. But every time we get a chance to go as a family we do. The food and service are awesome!
Best Asian food around Chattanooga.
They are so consistent and never disappoint!!
Thanks Rice Boxx
Love this place! The food was great and my server Kayley was so nice! Definitely will be back for more.
Good sushi, lunch option was nice included soup, salad & 2 sushi rolls.
Clean, also cute fish tank. I'd visit again.
Pretty good...a little pricey.
Love the owners! Great food and service. Would recommend 10/10.
One of the best places for a good and fast lunch in hixson. The hostest is always so pleasant and helpful and gives amazing recommendations for new dishes to try. Would suggest this place to anyone in the area who hasn't tried it yet.
1st time here. Food was delicious and serves was wonderful. Looking forward to coming back!
Very unprofessional cashier. Racist. Makes no sense for any poc to patronize a place like this and people be rude.
The wonton soup was very flavorrful also had thw thai basil amazing
The absolute worst food I’ve ever gotten from any Asian restaurant. Fried rice was standing in oil, egg rolls dripping in oil and crab Rangoon had bad taste. Spent 40 bucks on one dinner with extra egg rolls and crab Rangoon. Threw away most of it. Should have driven it back to restaurant!
Great portions for value and also very tasty (:
I've had meals that cost $10 and tasted a million times better than this. My husband ordered and I did not see how much we had paid for this meal! That 3/4 of it went in the trash. $62.00 We threw in the trash can last night. We will never, ever ever go back to this place.I don't care if they stay open twenty 47. So does the waffle house and it is a million times better. I'm sure these people work very hard. But when I moved here 6 years ago their food was good.I don't know what happened but if you don't fix it you're gonna go out of business. The people that run this business are good people. They're very nice very courteous, but when I've seen how much I paid for the food I threw away last night.I was upset.
Service was horrible and staff was very rude. And rice was not good at all.
Owners are usually present and they always make sure I receive good service. The staff is also very kind and the atmosphere is calm
I try to eat here at least once a week. They have the best hot and sour soup. It is an acquired taste but no one in town does it like they do! They have been at this location for a very long time.
The food was delicious, the lady kept checking on making sure I was filled up on my Coke. It’s a little pricey. But it’s good though
Food and service was amazing. Very relaxed restaurant and very VERY friendly and kind owners. This place is amazing and I will be coming back as much as I can visit the area!
This is without a doubt the worst thai food I have ever had. The pad Thai had almost zero sauce and the tofu was dry hard over cooked and rubbery. They didn't even know what the Thai sauces were. The truth is they are doing too many dishes for anything to be good. If you like fast tasteless food then this is the place for you. Those who enjoy food look someplace else.
Excellent food and servive!
It's the best Chinese place I've found in Chattanooga.
Food was fresh and hot. Service was very good. Japanese Green Tea 🍵 was amazing.
We loved it. We were in for lunch.
Food was decent. The Chinese food was better than the hibachi. The price reflects the quality and quantity but just barely. The atmosphere is generic and service wasn't anything special. Overall the worth visiting but would not go out of my way.
This used to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. However, the food quality has greatly declined. The service was good though. The back half of the restaurant is being used for storage; the place is very messy and disorganized.
Not my favorite place, though the two ladies I dined with thought it was really good.
Great sushi, great Chinese!
We enjoy eating here. There is a large assortment of (Americanized) Chinese/Japanese wok and hibachi entrees, but I typically get the Maki lunch or dinner special (2 rolls, salad with ginger dressing, and soup). It is my favorite sushi option in the Red Bank/Hixson area.
Exceptional as always !!!
Most of the dishes I've tried at Rice Boxx are good. They're well prepared, have good flavor, and the portions are generous. The reason for only 3 stars is that this isn't real Chinese food. The sauces and ingredients aren't right. The Hunan, Szechuan, Thai Basil, and Garden Veggie all taste exactly the same; I've eaten all of these and ideally they should taste nothing alike. Also in general avoid the Thai dishes. What they sell as Pad Thai is not Pad Thai.
The owner is extremely unpleasant, the food is passable. I’ve been here a few times (both dine in and take out), but it’s just not worth going back again. Buy your own ingredients at the Asian market and enjoy yourself making 10x more delicious food at home.
Was amazing good. Was not expecting it to be as good as it was. Outside is deceiving but inside great atmosphere and great food! Went twice in one weekend.
The food was alright, but I felt it was overpriced for the portion sizes as well as the level of service/atmosphere.
Really just ok. It was food. It wasn’t particularly great.
stopped in on a whim for lunch, and i’d give it another visit when i’m hungry again in the area. the woman taking our order was vwry sweet and precise, taking the time to double-check that we were ordering exactly what we wanted, which was: vegetable gyoza, spicy tuna roll, eel cucumber roll, and sesame chicken. our food came out in under 10 minutes, and our server made sure our drinks were always filled. fair prices. what more could you ask for? oh, you asked for a neon light show on the way to the bathroom. boom, it is done. you’ll see what i mean when you get there.
Beware, the Pad Thai is not traditional Pad Thai. No spices available and the service is mediocre. Dine-in order came out in a togo box. Would not recommend.
Meh. Kung Pao and Teriyaki does not taste like anywhere else i have eaten. Kung Pao seemed to have some kind of sweet red sauce. A little hint of spice but unfamiliar flavor. Teriyaki seemed watered down and didn't taste like teriyaki i have had before. Vegetables were cut in several different sizes. Made it more difficult to eat with chopsticks. Fried rice looks more like brown rice with very few ingredients. It was edible but disappointing. Maybe there are other foods they make better. Food doesn't come on a plate literally comes in a to-go container with a top. Maybe that's why it's called rice boxx.
Since Covid their service & primary customer base has changed, but my seaseme chicken & fried rice was very good. The service I received was fantastic!
The food was good, so a great addition to my list of places I'm willing to eat at in Hixson. Not really a fan of the surcharge for substituting noodles for the rice in my Hibachi Vegetable dish. Most other places it's free. They have quite a variety of things on their menu so check it out.
One of the worst Thai food experiences ever. Served in to-go containers. Understandable as short staffed but that doesn’t explain the quality of food. Thai red curry wasn’t red curry at all. Only vegetables and the so called curry was so watered down that it lacked salt. Not good at all. Spring rolls were ok but very bland. Absolutely unappetizing and tasteless. Sorry but not sorry
Fantastic little spot for lunch
Last time going here, my 2 year old son could of made better hibachi than what I got. Very bland
Quality Sushi. Not inexpensive but worth the price. Great Rainbow Roll and Vegetable Tempura. Prompt service.
Great food and great service, I particularly enjoy the sesame chicken and the teriyaki chicken.
Great place for a sushi lunch combo. The service was kind and quick, and the food quality was top notch. Worth a visit, and we will be back 😀
Food was ok. Obvious that this business perfers to continue covid practice. Very impersonate and atmosphere demonstrates such. Also apparent they prefer call in, to go business
Awesome 👌. I highly recommend for Asian Cuisine.
All dishes except soup served in carry out containers. Seems very pricey for combo plate with soup extra.
The place has gone downhill since Covid. Used to be my favorite place to get Thai, Chinese or sushi in Chattanooga for years (since 2012). After my last order, will not be coming back. The red curry is watered down and vegetables mushy like they’d been boiled all day long. This used to be an amazing dish! Not to mention an extra $3 for a few tiny mushy pieces of broccoli. The whole meal was just so disappointing from the quality of food to the $25 cost. The cost cutting and price gouging has become too obvious for me to spend a dime here again.
The staff was friendly and the food tasted awesome!!!
Highly recommended! Great food and the best staff!
Usually always good. Ordered shrimp and rice. Got home only to find 5 pieces of shrimp in all of the rice. I got ripped off for $20.
This is my new, favorite go-to for sushi and Asian cuisine. I live 30 minutes away, but I will drive there for their food anytime.
Sharon is normally there at the front, and she is so kind and hospitable. She also understands about my allergies.
They have all kinds of food all kinds of Asian food let me say that you can ask for. It is good is at a good price they get it right out to you is hot served. The only problem it was cold inside the restaurant it was colder in the restaurant than it was outside. I'm not sure that they have heat on inside of the restaurant.
The food is ok,but the quantity does not match the price. You get smaller dinner portions now as opposed to last year and the year before. Also it's too dark when you enter the restaurant, I couldn't read the menu at without a light from my phone.
Used to be one of the hidden gems in Chattanooga. This restaurant is right across the street from an Asian market and you could tell.
But that changed with Covid. They went to a take out only model and never reopened for dine in. Apparently, this affected the quality of their ingredients. The last 2 times we ordered sushi, my eel rolls were rancid and I could not eat them. Sushi to go from there will not happen again. The Chinese food is still pretty good, but I have better closer to home. I am also annoyed at no longer having one of my favorite cozy dine in places where I loved the fresh sushi and udon bowls. So Rice Boxx has fallen from near 5 stars to 2 stars.
Rice Boxx used to be a staple, unfortunately since the pandemic, the prices have jumped quite a bit. I ordered Chicken Pad Thai with a side of rice and it came out to $22. The side of rice was $5!
The noodles were very bland, almost no flavor. I ordered medium spice, but the noodles were mostly dry.
A shame as I've moved a few blocks away. Hopefully the quality comes back.
My favorite sushi take out
We drive 40 minutes for them often and have been going to them for years. Great every time! Thank you, Rice Boxx ❤️
Extremely Overpriced. The food is alright at best but for just how little you get and how much you pay. You're much better off going to Toto, Fuji, Teriyaki of Japan, or Ichiban.
The food was good but it was a little pricy for what you get. I also suggest getting your food to go if you choose to eat here. I ordered dine-in but all of my food came in to-go boxes and you’re given plastic utensils. The restaurant is also set up in an odd way where half the restaurant is cut off and there are only about 4 available tables.
Placed an order and when I received it there was part of an order missing. Unfortunately it was items that was a part of one of the meals. Totally disappointed.
Rice box is always booming.. they are always fast and have great food when wanting Chinese. 4.5
The best General Tso’s Chicken I’ve ever had. The Crab Rangoons and egg rolls were perfectly crispy and fresh. The portions were significant enough for some leftovers. We came on a Sunday after 3pm and the prices increase after lunch hours but worth the return of the authenticity of the cuisine. The experience was so great. The staff was so welcoming and kind! 100% recommend.
Ordered the Maki lunch special, 3 sushi rolls, wonton soup, salad. Shrimp tempura, crab and Boston rolls were very good. Wonton's in soup were nice size and flavor, not skimpy. Just moved to area and found my sushi go-to place. Have hibachi and large selection of chinese dishes also. Can't wait to try all.
Best Wanton Soup everrr
Just found our new go-to takeout spot. Delicious food made to order with tons of options. Great for takeout or dine in, its quite cozy inside, and super friendly staff!
Expensive
The food is decent and they have a very large menu online. The prices are high for what you get though. For about the same price you could go to Ichiban, Fuji, or Shogun and you would have a salad and soup with your food for dinner, and the quality is a little higher. Grand China has similar quality to Rice Boxx for a lower price so I end up going there more often if I want take-out.
Ok first time there. I don't remember thw last tome o had that fresh and flavorful Chinese food. The coconut chicken was the bomb. (The sauce came on the side : so perfect for your food to sauce ratio) egg roll was terrible because they were frozen but the fresh food is lit... ill go back to try the sushi
Sushi was good so was the miso soup. The hibachi to go was horrible though, zero flavor sopping wet. No char from a flat top and enough liquid to swim in,yuck. I bet money it's done in a pan and not a flat top hense all the flavorless water it was in. New owners? Went down hill fast!
Our first visit there was great. The visit today not so much. We threw $40 worth of food (2 entrées with 2 small egg rolls) from Rice Boxx in the trash and got take out from another restaurant. Hubby and I both had entrées that had shrimp, chicken & beef. I’m not sure what was going on with the meats but literally each one had a weird texture that was so off putting that we couldn’t eat it. This was too pricey to not be edible. We won’t be back and I’d advise you to look for Asian food elsewhere.
Edit 7/2022: - Was our go-to Asian restaurant in Chattanooga. But apparently it's a Takeout Only restaurant now. No servers, etc. It's really too bad now we have to eat and spend money elsewhere.
2019 Review: - The food has always been good and the service friendly. There is wide variety of Asian dishes ranging from Chinese classics, to sushi, and Thai dishes. The prices are par for a table service restaurant and they also have a carry-out option. After at least a dozen visits, I have yet to have any issues. This is a good place to visit.
Love this place so much! Great vegetarian options, and hands down the best tofu in town. I eat the sesame tofu from here almost every week and never get tired of it! The owner and staff are very kind as well. 😊 wish I could give higher than 5 stars!
Very good food.
I never leave reviews but I think it's important to inform potential customers that they are being ripped off. I order from here often and today I went on their site for a pickup order after reaching the payment section, I realized that they would only place the order if I entered a credit card, as I was intending to pay in cash I simply called and placed the order over the phone, as I usually do, the total was now suddenly $5 more...
I work for tips and it is not ever acceptable to take the liberty of overcharging the customer to secure a tip for yourself.
Clean, wonderful food, great family owned business!
Delicious!! A little over priced but all good asian food in chattanooga is.
Service was terrible. They had the nerve to tell me to go next door to Restaurant to use restroom. I told them I was there customer. Food undercooked and over priced. My advice is to stay away
My favorite sushi restaurant!!
Need to post take out only. Drive over and sign on doors say take out only.
I moved to the area last year and every time I drove by this place I thought it was going to be some disgusting, greasy gas station type joint. Couldn't have been more wrong. It's a bit pricey but the food is good enough to warrant the cost. I get the sesame tofu with lo mein every time I order and it never disappoints. Would recommend trying it even if you're not a veggie!
Used to be our favorite Asian restaurant near us, but has gotten too expensive for what you get.
This is my go to sushi spot. It is pretty good quality & prices. Menu selections are varied across different types of Asian cuisines & they do it very well.
Best Asian food in Chattanooga.
Absolutely bland. All of it. 90 dollars went into the trash.
Drove 30 minutes to eat here and they still do only takeout. Maybe you should put that fact on your website.
My favorite restaurant. Owners and staff are amazing. Big menu and food is outstanding! Sushi, teppan, pad thai... Wonderful!
The food is fantastic and the people are so sweet here.
Always excellent service. Timely seating and quality food. A little on the higher price range but I find no complaints with the sushi or hibachi. Most of the menu Is fantastic and I always look forward to eating there.
I've eaten at the Rice Boxx several times before and was generally pleased with the food even though it's a tiny bit annoying that their dine in is still unavailable but that's nothing compared to the attitude and bad business. My wife had ordered over the phone and our bill was already a little steep at about $40 for 1 entree, 1 kids meal, a side of noodles and no drinks. When I arrived, and payed, the girl behind the counter said the correct price but the card swipe said less so I assumed what I was seeing was only part of my order, but since she said that my payment had not been accepted I thought it wasn't a big deal and tried again and it went through. When I got in the car I told my wife she checked the bank account to make sure they didn't charge twice. Not only was it 2 charges, but 2 different amounts adding to ~$70! We immediately called and they tried to tell us there was "nothing" they could do until Tuesday (this was on a Friday) because there was no manager, so we went back and I told them what happened and after arguing with 2 women that didn't speak good English (trying to tell me I would have to wait until Tuesday because their system wasn't working) and 1 cashier that was too young and naivé to figure out what I was saying, a manager with better English came out and explained that they had already cancelled the wrong charge but it would be a day or two until it showed. That sounded fine, until Wednesday when my wife got a call from the restaurant and one of the 2 women that barely spoke English told my wife that we were wrong and they didn't charge us twice, my wife tried to calmly explain to her that the manger had already cancel it the woman argued and said we just misunderstood!
Garbage Food & Super Rude Woman
we used to really love this place- we got pad tai today and it was really dry.. it’s not really cheap- would have expected a better product for the price.
Driving all the way up here from east ridge several times now bc the google listing still shows dine in available. Please update your google listing to show no fine in available until you finally open up the dining room to guests again.
Their take out is no where near as good as dine in. Will not eat here anymore until they have dine in again
Good food...pricey.
I placed an order for take out got home order was wrong called and complained, they took down my name and info and said the next time I order that I would have a credit. I just called to order food and guess what no record now of credit. I will never order from there again.
Their teriyaki hibachi is so good! Wish I wouldn’t have waited so long to try it. They only have take out right now. Has cool lights and decor that’s hard not to notice when you walk in. Convenient to downtown and Hixson. Nice employees with a good attitude even if you order late.
I got the Shrimp Pad Thai. Kid got the Teryaki beef. We both found the dishes to be a good quality and mine was Spicer than I thought it would be which is a very good thing. Can't say it was authentic as I haven't been to Thailand but its as good as the Thai food I've had anywhere in Canada or the US. Will certainly go back when I return to Southern Tennessee.
Quick service, excellent food, extensive menu,... not just sushi!
After about a dozen visits, mostly carry-out, Rice Box continues to be one of our favorites. Dishes are consistently fresh and always meets or exceeds our expectations. Our grown kids love sushi, and its their go-to restaurant. Its obvious that the owner is serious about this restaurant.
After a half-dozen visits: consistently good quality dishes, efficient service, wheather dine-in or carry out. Rice Bowl is one of our favorites!
Basically Panda Express but twice as much, got general Tso and sesame chicken, no veggies with the sesame and the general tso tasted exactly the same as the sesame no spice. Couldn’t imagine the sushi being worth $6 a roll 0/10
Love this place been going here for years quality and price have stayed the same.
It’s so yummy and I am always blown away at the quality of the food and service especially for the price. Best Asian food in Hixson.
My family really enjoys Rice Boxx. It's a place that can suit several cravings in one go. They have great sushi and hibachi as well as traditional Chinese dishes and even some classic Thai food. Their Covid-19 protocal is also super commendable!
Great food and speedy service!
Delicious
Great food, no seating inside yet.
Was okay.
