This is Thai Lao restaurant
Thai Lao is walking distance from Myrtle beach activity area, about 5 minutes walk. The restaurant has nice interior with Thai vibe integrated with the appearance. The menu is huge with all sorts of well known and popular Thai dishes.
We started with the Tom yum soup with seafood. Really good soup, probably the best item of the night for me. Pad woo sen and calamari were also an excellent dish. The appetizer sampler was underwhelming, I felt the items could have been better.
The waitresses were amazing, provided a very friendly and attentive service. Dishes were served without much wait. Overall it’s a really good spot to have a good family meal.
I’ve been to Thailand a couple of times and have become a huge Thai foodie. I highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic or popular Thai dishes and atmosphere while in Myrtle Beach! I got the Mango Curry and it was delicious. I had a wonderful conversation with one of owners, I wish I had gotten her name. Sabai di mai, ka!
Overall, everything was great. We ordered the Chicken Satay, it was delicious. Even the cuccumber was good. My wife ordered the Beef Noodle Soup, very taste but enough noodles though. The oil on top kept the soup very hot. My Pinapple Fried Rice with Shrimps was quite good but again on the oily side. We ordered Mango and Sticky Rice for desert. Stick Rice was good but mango was so so.
We ordered several vegan dishes and everything was delicious. The service was excellent. It was easily accessible for the member of our group who was in a wheel chair. We highly recommend the papaya salad, the mango fried rice, the sticky rice with mango, and the basil fried rice. We will happily go back to Thai-Lao the next time we vist Myrtle Beach.
Food is great!!👍🏼 Definitely recommend the Pad Thai & Beef Salad! Their thai tea is also good too! (Also if you want ur food to be spicy make sure u ask when u order)
Best place to eat in Myrtle beach
The absolute definition of authentic

The food made me sick. The men’s room has a naked portrait of a lady on the wall that made me uncomfortable when I had to pee and couldn’t use the women’s room. Place sketchy. Lol
My favorite Thai restaurant

Recently ordered takeout larb with chicken, and #55 with beef and was blown away at how good it was! The exterior doesn't look like much, but if you love good Thai, order now!
its a very nice place. i ordered tomkha soup with mango salad and food was amazing. i liked the service, music and atmosphere. i would highly recommend this place!
Small authentic Thai place in the area . Everything is amazing. If you want to eat real Thai food that enlightens your taste buds you should go here. We had the wonton soup , sampler and fried rice . All are amazing.
Great food and great service. Authentic
Pretty disappointed with food. We ordered sample, fried rice and pad khi mao. Fried rice is just barely made it through the palette. Sample is ok. Pad khi mao did not cut it, no kick or wok hei.
Great local place, real food with flavor, always friendly, reasonably priced
Normally this is a great restaurant. Today however the service was very slow and the noodles were not fresh. I will try it again next year and see if they are back to normal.
Very tasty food with several vegan options. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable about the concept of veganism. They customised the pineapple fried rice and panang curry to be vegan and they were both delicious. Service was quick and efficient. I would definitely visit Thai-Lao again on my next visit to the area.
Speaking as a Thai this place serves terrible Thai food. Not tastes good, they use anything that is not supposed to be in the Thai dishes.
Beat tai foos in Myrtle Beach!!!!

Sorry to report there was not much positive about our experience here. Service was awkward. Seemingly sweet older lady who served us insisted on calling my wife "honey" and had apparent language/communication issues. Main courses brought out immediately after appetizers. She asked for spice levels, and despite both of us asking for minimal heat (1 out of 5, 2 out of 5), it made our mouths numb, more like 4 or 5. We're familiar with the cuisine and know it can be intense but this was a mistake in how the order was passed on to the cook.
On top of that, food quality was badly inconsistent. Nam sod was very tasty and generous, but overly spicy. The extra chili paste overwhelmed everything. A simple chicken satay was dry, maybe reheated. Lao spare ribs were probably also reheated. Seven dry, underseasoned and miniscule "ribs" - some had more fat than meat. Pla Khung had about 5 tiny shrimp, and while the basic flavor was good, it was mouth numbing overly spicy.
Just overall disappointing.
Their food and service are amazing. They just need to update their interior because it's weird that they use picnic patterns. It's affecting their profits. They just need to invest in a little paint and table coverings. Their Thai food is so authentic! It's my favorite.
We had visited a few years ago and had a wonderful customer service experience, and delicious food. We were in town for the holiday weekend and had to come back. It was wonderful yet again. I would not hesitate going back again.
Pad See Ew is amazing! So is the Pad See Mao. Both dishes are styles of drunken noodles. I enjoy the ginger tea, too. I've been here over a dozen times since discovering it about 3 months ago. It has remained consistent and perfectly flavorful! The staff are very considerate and kind. Highly recommend.
We chose Thai Lao because of their small but attention grabbing sign that read simply, "We are different."
I liked the bold assertion.
This place features a homelike atmosphere, sweet service and intensely flavored dishes ranging from Thai classics to Laotian.
My excellent Thom-ka soup with a side
of sticky rice was enough to fill me up. My daughter got a fragrant curry loaded with perfectly cooked potatoes and duck that melted in my mouth.
Portions are normal, condiments and sauces are numerous and the experience was delightful.
Good food
Good service
Nice atmosphere
Had a pleasant experience
Restaurant Thaï authentique. Portion généreuse, service rapide. Nous avons tous aimé nos plats. Bonne sélection de pad thai.
Great Thai restaurant. I tried a couple different places in MB but this is the best in my opinion. Pad Thai was awesome.
Tried the neighbored Thai restaurant had an amazing experience in taste and everything. Trying this one was a big regret thus we shifted back to the neighbored one then we learned which one never to visit again! Here was our experience at this restaurant. Ordered the wrong food Bcs owner/host didn’t have patience to explain to me; Had tried some authentic Thai food this is for sure not one of them as the rest of reviews mentioned. the food was not tasty at all and It was uniquely weird taste; indigents not fresh n cheap quality of choice in vegetables. On the other hand, priced very opposite of what you’ve got. This restaurant type of business does not know how to respect itself..
I wish I had a bigger stomach
So good!!
My husband and I come at least 3times every two month 2hours away The food is so delicious fresh and tasty
I’m confident that their food & service are excellent HOWEVER their website says that they close at 10pm however the sign on the door says they close at 9pm. We drove 20 minutes and arrived at 8:58 pm and they were closed.
The whole family loved their food. Lots of leftovers.
Couldn't stop eating even though I was full. Really good taste.
Seriously the best Thai food I've ever had.
All the food was very good... ordered pad thai, pad see ew, chicken wings, tiger tears, large, beef soup bowl (pho basically)....
Came back a second time with 15+ party. Service was much better and all the food was good. Spent over $500.
These guys are awesome. Great food and even nicer people. Not much more you can ask for. Try the pineapple fried rice
This was one of the BEST Thai restaurants I have been to. The service was amazing as well as the atmosphere. The food was outstanding and had very good portions! I 100% recommend going to this restaurant!
The food was pretty good, but the space could use a refresh because it seems dated
Delicious vegetarian 🥗 meal options available and the taste is amazingly delicious 🤤.
Soooo good. Very happy we came to this place!!
You will not regret it .
Service and atmosphere are good.
Food is OK. I ordered from lunch menu. Price was very reasonable.
Everything is on the sweeter side... no ac, so it's very hot inside the building. Food comes out fast and very hot, which is a plus.
Great service
Delicious food and atmosphere is Very chill. The place is clean and the staff is courteous and professional.
Great place to stop and go on a little date or just grabbing food. It's just a great restaurant with great food
Good food, decent spice, smaller than expected portions for cost, not enough vegetarian/vegan options.
Very good pad Thai for the price.
NumNum TomYum
I ordered takeout, and got the Mild Vegetable Pad See Ew. Basically this restaurant doesn’t care at all about its customers. If you see something on the menu, I guarantee it’s going to be extremely different when it gets to you. Their idea of “mild” is spicier than the spiciest options at any other Thai place. You can try to order a vegetable option, but it won’t matter because they are going to put A LOT of really questionable looking meat into your dish regardless. This is my second time getting food here and the food was at least edible the first time, but this time was just disgusting. Also, really, there is straight up zero difference between the mild medium or other spice options, it’s all the same outrageous spice except you get a different (tiny) side of sauce depending. There are much better Thai places in the area that are cheaper and have better service. Avoid at all costs.
Just really good Thai food. Their TomKha soup was the best I’ve ever had. A bit more expensive than your average Thai restaurant but worth it.
Lunch was delicious Green curry and service was very good.
I had it delivered and requested mild. They sent it very, very spicy. I received a refund and reordered it again. This time, I placed the order and then called the restaurant to make sure they sent it correctly. I finally got the correct order and ate half. About an hour later, I got some bad side effects. No other symptoms, just like someone put a laxative in the food, or was it bad shrimp? Since there was no nausea, it was pretty simple. You can bet I will never go back to Thia-Lao ever again.
Best spot on the Beach !!!! The Basil Chicken and Red Curry are absolutely incredible... this place is a hidden gem and will leave you wanting more.... I've been a regular here for 5+ years
Excellent. The Panang curry was great
Small gem of a restaurant that reminded me of home from interior to the food. We ordered Pad Kee-Mao and Pad Thai, both were so GOOD!! There's not many Asian restaurant in the area we live in and coming here was worth the drive. I'm looking forward to trying their other dishes, definitely the papaya salad.
Great food. Authentic flavors. Lovely people. Would come back!
Best Thai spot in town. The staff is so friendly and everything came out in a more than efficient manner! Would definitely go back.
My uncle ordered our food, when I tell you 🔥🔥🔥 It was fire❕ We had curry duck (the raisins & pineapples set it off), duck fried rice, spring rolls, a few different soups. Very flavorful. They mistakenly gave me the wrong broth (Hot & Sour) instead of Tom Yum but I would still highly recommend it.
Appetizer sampler, tomkha soup, pad woon sein, spicy garlic stir fry, and mango sticky rice were all great
Delicious and authentic - reminds me of my grandmothers cooking. Moved to an area where Thai food isn’t an option and finding Lao food options are incredibly rare/nonexistent in the Grand Strand. Found this gem after a quick Google search and it is well worth the 45 minute drive. Had the Lao-style Papaya Salad, Lao Spare Ribs, chicken wings, shrimp blankets, and sticky rice. Can’t wait to come back!
red curry is yummy
The yellow curry with seafood was great and had very good spice. The Thai tea was very good.
So tasty 😋
I got the Pad See-Ew with chicken at a spice level 2. It was amazing. I seriously can’t recommend this place enough
Yum. Yum! Food is fantastic and authentic! Fund this place and go for a delicious meal!
I ordered a glass noodles soup it tasted so good! The Thai tea was also great. Many soup noodle options.
I love Thai food and this place did not disappoint! Lots of selections and high quality food! Would definitely go again next time we are in Myrtle Beach. Quite reasonable too.
I have been trying many Thai restaurants but Noone like this place. It's called Thai Lao Restaurant. They are the best in this area. I definitely recommended this place here.
This restaurant is delicious! I got the #5 Nam Sod and the #77 Red Curry with chicken. There was not a lot of parking, so I got my order to go. Both were amazing. It's super affordable. Quick service. Friendly staff. Next time I'm in town, I'll be back and highly recommend to anyone.
Delicious and huge portion of seafood pad see ew and curry soft shell crab. Thai donut with condensed milk was tasty. Food came out quickly with friendly service.
Forgets your drinks and still charges you. Forgetful service. BUT GREAT FOOD!
Delicious food, friendly service, and large menu options
I ordered the lunch chicken pad thai combo yesterday. It was fantastic. The soup that came with it was really delicious and unique. Friendly staff.
Great food and service.
Great food. Very friendly and helpful staff
We have eaten there a number of times and are always very satisfied.
Service was terrible. We left.
Another gem in Myrtle Beach! One of the best Thai&Lao place. My girlfriend had the duck noodles, the duck was crispy, tender and the noodle soup was savory, sweet.
I had the beef Larb, which was the Laos food. When I had the first bite, the savory, sweet, spicy, zesty flavor exploded in my mouth, it was so unique and delicious!
This little gem is a local family owned restaurant that serves great food in a casual laid back atmosphere. Come here for great Thai food.
The staff was attentive and great. However, I found the food to be bland and tasteless. They've received accolades but I don't see how. Could not honestly recommend them.
The food was very bland, next to no seasoning. This is not authentic Thai food. I was so disappointed.
Great place for Thi. This was our 5 th time there.
Great food. Nice owners.
First time eating here, I ordered for pickup. I order crab Rangoon and chicken pad Thai. Both were delicious, pad Thai was not too spicy or too sweet and they had everything separated for me with extra sauces and even a spring roll on top. Very pleased and will be coming back to dine in and try other dishes.
Traditional Thai restaurant that is decorated as you expect for the familiar experience. Service was exceptional, food was prepared quickly and was loaded with flavor. The Spicy Basil stir was very good.
Fantastic dinner! We ordered the Cashew Stir Fry, asked them to make it spicy, with squid. SO GOOD!!! Their Larb is also excellent!! Can't wait to come back!!!
Great service and good food.
We had lunch special, soup was so good and thai curries were also good.
Very good food.
This was our 5th visit to Thai Lao in the past few years. The staff never dissapoints. The wait staff is always friendly and greets you as soon as you enter. The food is delicious evry time, soups, pad thai, rice, dumplings all loaded with flavor.
Really good Thai in my opinion! U fave is crab ragoons and chicken garlic with black pepper.
My wife and I love panang curry and like to try new places. The panang curry was very watered down, and seemed like they did not use any or very little coconut cream and coconut milk. Most Thai restaurants are clean and neat, but not here. Definitely will not eat there again.
Very good restaurant. We had Crab Rangoon and Wings for appetizers, then Pad Thai for the main course, beef, chicken, and sea food. All of us agreed that this is the best Thai restaurant that we've ever been to. We were seated right away, the restaurant had several patrons but was not full, the temperature in the restaurant was comfortable, pricing was fair. The only slightly strange thing was that they brought out one dinner entre at a time, rather than all 5 meals at once, so given our family etiquette everyone waited until all were served before we started enjoying our meals.
Good taste of food and variety
Best Thai food we have had! Got crab Rangoon and steamed dumplings for appetizers that were perfect, found they have been home made, as we suspected by how good they were. Shared a couple of different main dishes and tried Thai donuts and mango sticky rice for dessert, all excellent. This is a local place with chef cooked meals, NO chain food-service tourist restaurant stuff here! What a great little find!
Food is good. Portions are small
Waitress is really rude rushing us to hurry up order our food cause they’re closing at 9 o’clock we got there 8 o’clock. Bad service will never go back to this place!
Never fails to be a great meal. Highly recommend this place.
This is a real local spot! You can’t find better Thai food on the beach. Decently priced. I’ve been eating here since I was a little kid, same owners, with the most authentic Thai food you can find on the beach.
Our family ate here on a Saturday evening; we had chicken satay, curry noodles with tofu, and curry fried rice with chicken. Very good Thai , authentic atmosphere, service friendly and timely. We were extremely satisfied.
As other people have stated the atmosphere is not the greatest, again we went for the food. My lovely wife and I have been looking a good Thai restaurant at Myrtle Beach , that is up to now . We ordered the pineapple fried rice/beef and the spicy eggplant w/chicken The food was excellent There was plenty on both dishes. We left full. The service was great. There were two waitresses and they both were very nice. Always checking up on us We will be going back for sure. A+ for service & food. Highly recommend this restaurant. ✌🏻❤️🎶
Absolutely amazing food and amazing waiters that reccommend what you will like best. Very accommodating for all dietary restrictions. 100/10 would visit again, as we've never had Thai food like this before.
This is the best place for us for Thai food, always great.
Went in as a family of 5 for dinner for a nice meal. Upon first sight, place appeared run down on the outside. Inside was only slightly better, old and poorly decorated. We got seated and from there service was terrible. We waited at the table and no one approached us for at least 10 minutes. Menus were not given (we had to get up and get them ourselves). Our waitress was very inattentive, acting like us asking for anything was an inconvenience to her. When the food arrived we were not presented with utensils to eat with, and food was mediocre at BEST. We've eaten at least 100 Thai meals at restaurants and at home (we are not Thai!) previously and the dishes rank in the lower 20%. The only decent meal was the Tom Yum noodle soup.
The Panang beef was excellent. The red curry beef was fine, but not as good as other Thai restaurants. The quality of the cut of beef used was likely the reason, as opposed to the flavour of the dish. Service was great. The restaurant itself was not impressive.
Food was awesome! Service terrific.
This little restaurant has such fresh and delicious food. Papaya salad was amazing and the red curry. Thank you for such wonderful food.
Everything was great! The Pad Thai was excellent, as well all of the food from there. Service was great, and attentive
Probably the best curry I had in my life! Chicken, noodles etc… definitely recommend this restaurant
It was good food not great and the atmosphere wasn't very good either but if your just getting something quick it's alright
This place is a hidden gem in Myrtle Beach! We had the Avocado Shrimp Green Curry, the Massamam Curry, and some Summer Rolls and it was all spectacular! The curries were a little on the watery side in terms of consistency, but the flavor was 10/10! Simply incredible with some rice! The fresh summer rolls were loaded with greens, herbs, and shrimp. Highly recommended!
The absolute best Thai cuisine I've had in years. Tastes like it was prepared, with love, in someone's grandmother's kitchen as opposed to a restaurant.
Had some of the best food. Recommended
Very tasty and clasic
What a great little “hole in the wall” family run spot for authentic Thai food. The pad Thai is every bit as delicious as any I’ve eaten in Thailand. And if you want it hot, they’ll give it to you “Thai spicy” as they say. The satay appetizers are also very good. No Thai meal would be complete without some sweetness to counter the heat (if you like heat like I do), so I highly recommend the Thai donuts and the mango with sticky rice. Prices here are very fair for the serving size and the quality of the food. They have lunch specials too. I’ve always found the service to be friendly and attentive. The only potential downside is there seems to be only street parking. I’ve been able to snag a spot within the block all but one time, so the odds are good you will too. There are two Thai restaurants in this small commercial strip building — make sure you get the right one!! Thai Lao!!
Klein, persönlich und das Essen war Weltklasse 🥳👍
Every year we have to stop for some fabulous, delicious Thai food! We will be back for more next year!
I have left a five star review for this restaurant before because I live very close to here and the food is amazing. I come here and eat at least once a week. My only request is please please make your air conditioner work or get it fixed. it is very uncomfortable when eating there how hot it is and the fans do not help. Other than that you guys are amazing and continue doing what you’re doing.
Prices is the heigh for a little bit food
Super good and legit food!
Bed Thai food around, always delicious. Love the staff, the yellow curry with shrimp is my comfort food, when I’m having a bad day or feeling under the weather, it’s what I want.
I arrived around 8pm and the restaurant was packed, only two tables available. I sat down and was greeted by staff in minutes. The restaurant was hot, a few fans running, I didn't feel any A/C. I order chicken wings, they came small in size, but were crispy and had dipping sauce on the side. They had good flavor. I ordered my entree it was Pad Ma Ma. It was Thai Lomein noodle with vegetables and Shrimp. The shrimp was one option. The vegetables were crispy and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Food and staff were both good.
The food was okay. I had ordered the pad see ew and their chicken wings as appetizers. The wings were abysmally small. I'm pretty sure you can find a picture on the photos. Now make those wings half that size. Not at all worth $10. I don't know what happened like if there was a supply issue or something but you cannot serve customers that. In addition everything tended to be on the sweeter side.
I was surprised by the number of Thai restaurants in Myrtle Beach and I picked this one based on its higher rating and proximity to my hotel. The name of the restaurant and pictures of their Summer rolls also allowed me to entice my traveling companion, who doesn't like spicy food and thinks Thai food is always spicy.
When we arrived, we were immediately greeted from the kitchen and directed to our table. She arrived in person within a few seconds to bring our menus. I recognized most of the items on the menu, having worked at a couple of Thai restaurants in my younger days, but there were some dishes new to me. My companion ordered garlic chicken and I opted for my favorite, "Pad Kee Mow" or roughly translated to fried drunk sh-tuff. 😉 We also got the promised Summer roll with shrimp and "Tod Mun Goong", which could be explained as sort of a ground shrimp slider, minus the bun.
Both were quickly served and delicious. I did notice that the patties did not have any bits of green - I have always seen chopped cilantro and sliced green beans in other restaurants' rendition of this appetizer - but it was still out of this world tasty. I make the similar app with chicken and have had it with fish, too, but only the shrimp version was offered here.
The entrees were served just as we were finishing the apps. Again, both were top notch. I ordered my dish extra spicy. It was about 2/3 of my desired spiciness, but still induced a bit of runny nose and sweaty brow, so I couldn't complain. I did notice they did not use tomatoes, whereas my local Thai eateries usually include them. It didn't matter, it was still delicious!
This destination was pretty easy to get to and had lots of street parking in the vicinity, at least when I was there. I would say this is one of my highest rated restaurant reviews in my whole Google food critic "career", if that is such a thing. Definitely recommended.
Delicious and affordable Thai food
We've eaten here once before. Service is slow.
Great lunch specials.
Recipes are different from one Thai restaurant to the other. Probably won't go back to this one food is too sweet. We love Thai food and there are Thai restaurants popping up everywhere in Myrtle Beach. Enjoy!
BEST PHO IN MYRTLE PERIOD! No contest!
Had lunch special #5, awesome soup & spring roll, curry chicken was amazing, super prices and service. Tasted the #15 & eggplant was soooo delicious.
Can't wait to go back!
My wife and I recommend the Thai-Lao Restaurant because of its authentic Thai meals, excellent service and fair prices that will keep you coming back for more. We plan to return in the future.
Food poisoning.
We do not have Thai in SC neat us, so this was a treat!! I wanted somewhere that had a beer, so we chose this over the place next door. The staff was super-friendly and food was just great. Pad Thai (chicken) was perfectly spicy at medium and the Hubs Spicy Basil Stir Fry (chicken) hit all the right notes. This place will be on our permanent list when we visit Myrtle Beach!
We had the sampler platter, mango salad and Tom zap soup. The food was amazing! I need that green sauce recipe.
absolutely amazing food. I came here because I was craving some home cooked meals, and I saw they had lunch special too. I wanted to try their thai noodle. and boy was there 0 regrets. I havent had this delicious pad thai since my fav college restaurant closed. The tofu was the perfect amount of fried, extra saucy noodles topped with some of their home spice. absolutely satisfied. I would deff recommend to everyone !!! (PS service is so nice here too :))
