Relaxed, hip taqueria offering Mexican standards like tacos & tortas plus cocktails & beer.
Had to try King Jefe Taco Bar in Florence, and it was definitely worth it! They offer a lot of unique twists on traditional Mexican food, and I was pleasantly surprised by their great selection of sushi as well. The fusion of flavors was really interesting and tasty. If you're looking for something different but delicious, this spot is definitely a must-try
Disappointing! My husband and I ordered two poke bowls to go, and we have never had anything so small, poorly made, and expensive! I have eaten poke bowls at over a dozen restaurants and this was definitely the worst. You can call this dish anything but a bowl, because it is not. There was not even 150 grams of food in it and it was also the most expensive I have ever paid in my life! $40 (with tax and tip) for two tiny dishes. We ate the bowl and still had to go to Walmart to buy something to eat. Terrible! The place is cool, the bar is well decorated, the bartender is friendly, while we were waiting we even thought about going back and eating at the restaurant, but after getting our bowl and seeing how disappointing it was, we changed our minds right away. The picture may not show how small the dish was, but it was barely the size of my entire hand, ridiculous.
Went in for solo lunch after a stressful morning. Same people own this eatery as the ones that own Tubb’s in Florence. Interior of restaraunt is adorable with hand painted murals and rustic wooden tables. Atmosphere is truly lovely and there is ample seating.
Unfortunately I was seated by an extremely rude ponytailed waiter (failed to introduce himself) and when I politely requested to sit a bit further down in the booth section due to two very large tables next to where he wanted to seat me he was extremely rude and unwelcoming.
He responded to my request by sarcastically replying, “Well if you have to but you can’t sit at the T tops, we save those for our large parties.”
I politely explained that I only wanted to move down one space. There was lots of available seating in the restaurant with four large t top tables completely unoccupied and no line at the door the entire time I was there.
Menu has lots of choices but was a bit limited as far as Mexican choices in my opinion TBH. When I asked for a recommendation on the sushi my server (same man who seated me) acted as I were speaking Swahili. Not sure if he mistook me for a tourist and that was the cause of his rude and condescending attitude or not. Had to ask twice for a box for the rest of my food.
Ended up choosing the Volcano Roll and asked that they omit the tuna. By the way: Prices for their sushi is higher than Konnichiwa which is also in Florence and has extremely wonderful food, atmosphere, and highly friendly and professional waitstaff.
Volcano Roll was about as good as expected but sadly not amazing. The asparagus was an unexpected touch that added a nice texture to the roll. Sweet tea was ok. Eel sauce was more spicy than flavorful but was also ok.
Won’t be back due to the server and higher prices that aren’t justified by the taste. More of a tourist stop IMHO.
Do better King Jefe. Florence is well known for their friendly people and wonderful food!
The food is delicious, yes, but the people who work there make this place special. Warm Southern hospitality, great conversation, and always kindness. My husband and I recently moved to Florence and this has become our favorite spot. We've been there like 10 times in a month and a half, it's so great!
Decided to stop here before continuing our road trip and this had many good reviews so we decided to try it.
We originally stopped for the sushi but was told that they don't serve them til 5pm and we arrived just after 3 🙃
Bur the employees were super friendly, and the place was nice and clean
The food on the other hand, me and my sister did not like them very much. The chips and queso was delicious but the two entrees we chose we were not a big fan of.
There were too many different tastes coming from just one dish and the corn (and I'm so sorry to say this) tasted like armpit 🤮
Also, I didn't even touch the other taco and they still charged me for both.
You probably don’t think of a place called King jefe for sushi, but their sushi is absolutely wonderful, the best thing on the menu honestly. We had the fire and ice roll and thought it was fantastic!
King has a ton of specialty tacos with something for just about everybody. The tacos are good but not great. It seems like they could use to drain the filling a little bit more and maybe warm the tortillas so they were a little fresher. They left a puddle on the plate after we were done.
We had the Big Easy, Al Pastor Bob and the Smash Burger which were very good. We had the chorizo, mac & cheese, cheese cheese, which was tasty, but a little bit light on chorizo from my taste. The chips and salsa were also very good. We tried both the pico and the mild and they were terrific.
The weight staff was attentive and the ambience inside the restaurant was very cool. It was a very hip vibe with good music.
Dope af
Best Tacos and Sushi around. I travel down to Florence for work here and there hands down a must Go
Had dinner before going to the theater. I had the Cali Bowl and it was delicious! Justin, our server was very pleasant and attentive. We will definitely go back.
My husband and I are new to Florence and this place is great hidden gem. I was a little skeptical about the sushi at first but wow it was wonderful and fresh. We had the King jefe roll and the cowboy roll and they both had unique but delicious favors.bWe will definitely be coming back!

I like King Jefe a lot. The Sushi is good, not great. Konichiwa is better for sushi. The Mexican is very good. Love the atmosphere. I've been there several times and will be back. The downside is parking, especially on a weekend night. Drive by in front first. I've snagged a spot on the street a couple times. Don't hesitate to try it.
We had our first annual Christmas party here on 12/14/24. The food was amazing, the staff was amazing and went above and beyond to make sure my crew of 23 were taken care of. Thanks to everyone there that went above and beyond and Shea for taking care of our crew at Dreaming Ink Tattoos.
I ordered the slow poke rodriguez without the peanut sauce. The tacos were great, but I didn't care for the rice. It didn't look like the spanish rice I am used to. I also ordered a tempura shrimp roll. Again not what I'm used to, but it was good. I do have to say as far as the sushi goes, for the price I don't think it was worth it.
The atmosphere and food were very good, but this is first Mexican restaurant that I have even been in where you weren't first greeted with some free chips and salsa to start munching with your drinks.
The mango salsa was delicious 😋 the Cali Bowl was wonderful as well. The service was slow but did the job perfectly of handling my sarcasm 😂

Great drinks and appetizers.
Nice place, friendly service and nice atmosphere. Had a great cocktail that was delicious. We had the cheesy tots appetizer, some different tacos, some sushi and a chimichanga. All were good. Seasoning was great just thought it needed a little more seasoning. Solid find while passing through town and wanting something local.
Amazing place for tacos! Ordered three different style tacos, and each one was fantastic in its own right. The server was very knowledgeable of the menu. Highly recommend anyone to eat here! (No sushi on this visit, but next time)
Cool place, service was good. The sushi was great but a little overpriced. Tacos were way way to salty, that's why I'm giving 3 stars. Don't get steak tacos if you value your taste buds!
Stop by for lunch with my coworkers. It was my first time. Food was good, great services provided by Nick.
1 recomendación , not to put salt on the corn chips 🙏
A must when visiting downtown Florence. Sarah was an excellent server and bartender. Food was delicious, perfect portions and reasonable prices. We will be back!
This was one of my favorite places but lately I’ve been so disappointed! I placed a pick up order and when I got home the two shrimp tacos I ordered were delicious but VERY small. I orders my husband the Revival double burger and it was a single and shouldn’t be considered that. The burger was so small and very thin. I was charged for a double. $33.00 to eat take out and still hungry! Never again

The sushi 🍣 is of the freshest I've ever had. Yummo
Great service and food
Great place, great food, friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere. What more could you ask for.
Do miss out on the tacos or sushi, you won't be disappointed with either choice.
Enjoy!!!
Stopped here on our way to the beach. We were intrigued by the interesting menu. Staff were friendly. Shea was our server! Super nice and welcoming. Drinks were delicious. I had the Ruby Slipper and my bf had a beer.
My favorite part of the menu was the different tacos. We got 5 total to split. Our favorite by far was the Dae Han, but the Billy Ray and the #1 Bangkok were also very good! We will definitely be back if we’re ever in town!
Can't wait to go back here! The Mahi tacos are it!
We came into town for a wedding and first stopped in for a drink. Shay was our bartender and she was fantastic!! I had a blackberry jalapeño margarita and it was the best cocktail I have had in years. My husband had an old fashioned from the menu, a regular old fashioned and then she made him a strawberry peach bourbon drink that he really liked. We came back the next day for lunch and we were just as happy with our food! The chips our house made and salted perfectly, the salsas are so fresh and unique, I could have stopped there but definitely didn’t. I had the fire and ice roll, my husband had a steak taco and a king jefe roll. The sushi was so good, fresh and different from any combination I have tried and my husband definitely liked his taco. You can order just one taco so you can try all kinds of different options, which is always a bonus at a fantastic restaurant like King Jefe. The service was super fast and really friendly, too. Honestly, this is hands down the best experience we have had at a restaurant in a long time. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Go see them!!
Service and hospitality was amazing from the host to the server and bartender and other servers. Food was amazing quick and correct. Drinks were tasty and timely. Restaurant was clean and aesthetically appealing and interesting. 10/10

One of my favorite restaurant in Florence. Amazing Tacos and Amazing Sushi. Don’t hesitate to check this place out. Chorizo Mac is fire and don’t forget to order a guac.
5/11/24 We had stopped into Straw Hat Distillery down the road and they recommended King Jefe for dinner. It did not disappoint! It was a fun atmosphere with an interesting vibe a little TexMex, a little Latino, with some interesting Japanese and Korean details mixed in. I had the ceviche & BangBang Shrimp Tacos and my husband had two different rolls and we were STUFFED! Our server, Sarah, was fun and helpful with suggestions, the food was great (even thought what was called ceviche was definitely NOT proper ceviche. It was more like bits of sashimi dressed with onion and jalapeno with a dressing-but it was still tasty, just not ceviche which should have marinated in the dressing for at least an hour, btw). We will definitely come back next time we're in town to visit Straw Hat!

Do better King Jefe. Florence is well known for their friendly people and wonderful food!
Sushi, tacos/Mexican. Food was good, all fresh. Drinks were delicious and staff were all really great! Dining area is small.
Stop here when traveling down to Florida, and we stop overnight in Florence. I would highly recommend great tacos and atmosphere. I haven't had the sushi but looked really good 😋.
Was expecting more from the food there. Below average menu items.
Great food, friendly staff, and wonderful environment!
Best sushi in South Carolina.
Ordered a taco salad. It wasn't bad, just not great. I ordered it with shrimp and the shrimp was delicious. The rest of the salad was a little boring. Service was pleasant and they kept our drinks full. Atmosphere is cute though from the outside it looks a tiny bit sketchy. Don't be put off by the outside not being perfect. I would definitely give it a second try when I am in town.
Incredible
Loved it
This place hits different. The food was so good. Everything was great which is rare because usually there's at least one thing that could be better. Definitely a cool vibe, this place is gorgeous and the staff are super responsive and friendly. I'll be back.
Good food and good smile service
The food was very pretty. I enjoyed my meal. There was nothing wrong with what I was served. The taste was just nothing phenomenal. It was good just not delicious.
I will go back though bc I want to try the sushi. Really cool that they specialize in tacos and sushi.
Just a side note. I did notice on the door that they don't serve sushi on Mondays. So heads up if that's what you going for.
Our server Taylor was really great. She was busy but I still felt like a priority. Great place to stop if you're looking for something a little different.
I really love the sushi was one of my favorite spots but the price has gone up from what was already pretty expensive.
The atmosphere wasn't much welcoming, plus the tacos were not good at all. I spent $17 for two soft taco and one street corn on the cob, which I might say was ok. The pork was very dry like meat is constantly being reheated. No sauce or salsa given. Very disappointed
Wasted potential. Their food is plain and basic, but decent. I ordered the Jefe burrito, and it came out on a plate all by itself wrapped in tin foil. No side of lettuce, no cheese on top, no pico or sides of any kind. Very disappointing food presentation and very bland.
Another huge disappointment was the service. A bunch of young people who seemed like they would rather be doing anything other than satisfying the customer but I understand that I guess.
My biggest issue was I ordered a kids cheese quesadilla to go, it was $7.95 and when I looked in the bag it was the size of a tortilla chip cut in half. Not exaggerating. I took it out, held it next to the chips we still had, and they were the same size. Again, no side of rice, corn, or beans. $7.95 for a tortilla chip sized quesadilla.
This place has great potential, but it definitely seems like we caught them on an off night.
The food definitely has potential to be great. It was pretty good but not exactly hot and fresh as I had expected, but delicious. Possibly the biggest health code violation was finding some sort of yarn in the cheese as pictured, let me get that out of the way now.
We had a party of 8 and we were seated quickly and the food came quickly.
The real issue was the not quite up to par service. It took a bit longer than I would have liked to be attended to but no big deal. We would have appreciated much more attention when it came to refills and our request for shredded cheese had to be repeated a second time before it was fulfilled.
I believe we all agreed that the staff seemed uninterested. The chairs were also uncomfortable for full grown adults. Other than that, I would definitely give it another try to see if it goes better.
Mostly okay, but it took over 10 minutes to get a bottled beer to my table. Not the fault of the waitress, she was waiting on the bartender who appeared to be busy with a conversation at the bar.
Food did not have flavor. Quantity was bad. I paid $47 for the worst food quantity and quality I have every had.
The food was very bland. Few vegetarian options and charged the same even when you ask for no meat. Had to get my own menu. Good atmosphere, bad food.
What a surprising fun mix of menus from Mexican to sushi! Good sour beer selection as well. Friendly staff and good service to our large group. We'll be back!
Great food great service...Kyle is great
Weird atmosphere with skulls everywhere — it’s just their thing, but the sushi is the best we’ve had! I also like their pineapple salsa!
Wow! My husband and I were passing through during dinner time and I always try to find a local place to visit. We throughly enjoyed the experience. I would have never paired tacos and sushi but had to try both. Everything was so tasty and I have a feeling I’m going to crave that sunshine roll! The service and atmosphere were equally as enjoyable.
Great small place to go for great food and delicious drinks.
Food was ok-ish
Got charged 2 bucks for a tiny dish of salsa
Salsa is free in Mexican restaurants normally
This is my all-time favorite Mexican restaurant in Florence! They also have legendary margaritas, and after trying 20 other places, they still stand on top with the best margaritas I've ever had. Great food, awesome place!
The Mexican food is bland lacking seasoning. I asked for a knife and the first one they brought was dirty so I asked for a second one only to get one that was dirtier than the first.
I’ve read reviews on how good their sushi is, so I finally got by to try it…
That was possibly the best sushi I’ve had in town. Tried the baked salmon roll and the fire n ice roll. What did it was the freshness; it was over the top. The presentation was 5-star. The food even smelled fresh and colorful. And they have a large selection to choose from. Their sushi, the service and the sushi chef…all a hit!
Weird service weirdly hot sushi and weird vibe. Refused to order “Mexican”here definitely wouldn’t come back I’d rather go somewhere where they aren’t putting fried chicken in a tortilla. Server made us feel uncomfortable about wanting straws. She also kept leaning over at my husband. I did not appreciate.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Very surprised how good everything was. Not a fan of the menu process but we got through it.
Tacos were great. Service was quick. Price a little high, but everything is expensive these days so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My two favourite things MEXICAN AND SUSHI!!
I reckon they still have space to elevate the flavours and work on those bombastic textures but the concept it brilliant and the team is faultless xx can't wait to come back!
I've been multiple times. The food has been amazing everything the salmon lovers roll fire and ice roll and the king jefe roll are all great! The staff is friendly quick and very helpful... love this place!
My children and friends enjoyed the food.
Omg creative tacos and sushi in the same place in a historic building....I'm in heaven.
I come here all the time, amazing sushi especially, I highly recommend the dynamite roll for the fresh wasabi
Food is excellent and a laid-back atmosphere. Service is generally good depending on whose working.
The food was really good but different. Not your normal Mexican restaurant.
Pretty good food. They give you large portions, but I’m not necessarily after the quantity….I’m more about the quality. 3.5 stars
I loved their sushi!!
Good food, cozy joint and nice people.
Best Mexican and sushi combo ever!!!!
Small place but very funky cool vibe. Fire roasted salsa was the best salsa I've had and the guac was addictive. Get a house margarita on the rocks. They don't skimp on the alcohol like most places where all you can taste is the margarita mix.
Came to Florence for a work conference with a LARGE group, much larger than anticipated and the staff took awesome care of us. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was welcoming. The street corn on the cob was one of the highlights of my meal along side the Korean inspired taco.
Service was great, food was great. Will return. The server actually talked to our 8 year old like he was a person.
Great taco/sushi in Florence
Great food awesome atmosphere loved the artwork service could have been better all around good.
every detail is awesome. Eat drink and be merry at King Jefe. Remember to tip well? Your server is trying to pay for college.
You can never go wrong with King Jefe. Try the tots with queso as your side.
I wanted sushi no sushi. Food was good I must say..
We had sushi, burgers and a taco salad... all of which was phenomenal! Service was lacking as our waitress seemed to not care about us after we got our food. Loved the atmosphere and the food... will definitely return and hope for better service next time...
Great Food....even better sushi. I know seems weird to get sushi at a Mexican place. But it is amazing. And the tacos are the best! Small place that's very busy. But well worth going.
Made the drive from out of town and they decided to close an hour early because they were dead even though they had 20 patrons eating. You would think if you were dead you would want the business. So before you waste your time driving call. Can’t rate the food because we weren’t served.
Really enjoy the phone
presentations was awesome!! Taste was just as good!
This was my first time here and it was very delicious.
Can't find anything negative to say. All around good experience for me. If I had to say something negative, only thing I could say was it needs a bigger dinning area because it was so crowded. Will be visiting again
Traveling for business and heard this Mexican restaurant has sushi. HAS SUSHI?? What an understatement. Great quality! Very surprised and extremely pleased. Highly recommend this little gem. Fresh and great tasting. My mouth hurts from smiling as I write this. Great surprise on an otherwise blah business trip
I love their tacos and sushi!
BEST FOOD, SUSHI, AND DRINKS! ALSO HAVE MY FAVE DRINK, WHICH IS HORCHATA WHICH IS THE BEST MEXICAN DRINK EVER!
This place combines two of my favorite food groups: Mexican and sushi. Here, I can get my sushi fix, while my fiancé can enjoy the Billy Ray tacos with a side of chorizo mac and cheese. If you like raw fish, I recommend the sashimi roll with rice and seaweed.
Fresh food, well made, clean. Like the Vegan, Gluten Free, and Oil Free options. Hope to see more. Very relaxed and well mannered staff.
Great Taco's and service. Good Tequila menu as well.
The bartender and our server Shea were incredible. Guac was fresh and tasted great with the jalapeño and pineapple sauce. Shea recommended us the fire and ice roll and the shrimp tempura roll was an amazing classic. Will definitely be back for the food and the excellent customer service.
Will try to get better food pics next time lol.
C' était délicieux, excellent service. Propre.Nous reviendrons, nous étions de passage lors de notre trajet pour la Floride
Excellent service Even better snacks! Everything you would want from a chic whole in the wall eatery!! We definitely took a sushi tour of the menu! Must have bites… cucumber salad do not leave without trying the cucumber salad! Cowboy roll… hear me out I’m the last to advocate for steak on my sushi but the crisp and spice of the jalapeño with the crunch of the asparagus made for the perfect singular bite! We also ordered crunchy tuna and Hawaii roll all v good. Really can’t say enough good things! Friendly staff, punny vibes, and clean!
Loved this place, the food and drink menu has a lot of options and are really good. It is pricey but it's in a nice part of town and it's great quality food. There's not a lot of restaurants that offer the variety they do and that do it well too.
This is your quintessential "urban" restaurant. The food is third rate, mixed drinks a solid 4th. I travel all over the country and have spent quite a bit of time abroad. Save yourself the $100 for 2 people to eat hipster tacos / sushi and go to an authentic restaurant.
Atmosphere 4/5
Server 5/5
Management 1/5
Food 1/5
Very disappointed with this place. With our trio appetizer we received stale chips twice. And that was our warning, but we proceeded with lunch anyway. It was a equally underwhelming, with meat so cold it had to be from a previous day and flavorless rice and beans. Add this to the flavorless guacamole, flavorless Pico de Gallo, and queso with an impossible to break layer on top. The worst part, I'm pretty sure the owner or manager was there, but didn't have the decency to stop by and address anything even though there were only a few customers in the restaurant. I don't know how this place has a 4.5 and I certainly wouldn't eat sushi at a place that can't get chips right. The two positives they have cold beer and our server was pretty good under the circumstances.
The mild Salsa was great. The pineapple salsa on the al pastor Bob tacos was good, but had way too much. It overwhelmed the taste of the pork.
Great food great drinks. Excellent portions and prices
Nothing fancy except the fantastic tacos and other selections.Great dinner or lunch place.Cocktails new and old std.willbe back soon. Well I said I'd be back and I am here again for supper, great beer, fantastic tacos
And the bar keep is on top of things, fastest person in Florence! Great mix maker and personality--Sara
Overpriced for what you get an the tacos weren't very good. Not a fan of their sushi either.
Great food and good service
Honestly, this restaurant has (in my experience) the best sushi in Florence. I have yet to try any of their Mexican dishes but the sushi and rice bowls are great. Service was good too.
Great experience and great food!
Always has the best tacos and sushi.
Great food, service, atmosphere, and alcoholic beverages. First time trying sushi, and it was great!
I love King Jefe. They had a small menu but have added some GREAT sushi and even some burgers. Highly recommend giving it a try. The only thing I would change is the booths. The seat backs are terrible. They aren't sturdy at all. If you got someone behind you that moves around a lot, you get pushed on really bad. Quite uncomfortable.
Awesome food Awesome service highly recommend anyone here
This place has really gone down hill since last time I was there. Their ground beef was way over cooked. It was like they cooked it prior and was just heated up for the order. The chorizo mac was dry and gross. It was not impressive. The only reason why I gave it two stars was because I’ve eaten at worse places here in Florence.
It's always great it! Servers were really nice, just super packed out.
Delicious food for a good price.
I liked the sashimi we got there. It was fresh and tasty and the service was fast.
Boooo, you're too far away. Now we have to drive 3 hrs to come back! This place is so good. We need you in Hendersonville, NC. This is a must stop place if you're passing through Florence. Tacos are all unique from other places. Street corn is amazing. Didn't get to try the sushi but it sounds amazing as well and we'll do so on another stop. Servers are friendly and bussers are on the ball. Bathrooms are clean and smell good.
Love this place! Excellent service! Love the sushi (Bang Bang Shrimp, Dragon roll😋) and the Uncle Terry taco is my favorite!
Came to try regular menu items (not sushi). Service was great, very friendly and attentive. Burgers were dry, side items are limited (Mac n cheese, tater tots and rice). Queso was soso. So, not much on regular menu items.
The sushi chefs save the day as the sushi has been great the two times I've enjoyed it! Will keep to sushi from now on.
Dinner with friend group. Food was great and service was excellent.
Great food and margaritas
