The restaurant owner was exceptional and so kind giving us the menu, even helping and suggesting to my mom menu options that were suitable to her liking. I really appreciate the kind service and politeness he had. The chef was an amazing cook, everything we ordered was freshly cooked and served even more decoratively. Now when I say I love Thai food, I mean I LOVE Thai food. I'm in town visiting my family and we decided to try Nam Khong based on previous reviews and a menu starring all of my fans. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint!!!
The portions were excellent. The pad Thai was the best I've ever had in my life! The Tom Yum soup was phenomenal with just the right lemongrass spice combo. The red curry was fresh, sweet and tangy. The fried rice was perfection and the sauce for the spring rolls was just what we needed in our lives.
We got our food to go, but 15 minutes later it was still hot and perfectly cooked. Thank you to the staff for the perfect Thai meal we were all craving ♥️♥️

STOLE MONEY FROM ME!!! I ordered storefront pickup through DoorDash. Got online confirmation number for my order and I paid online for my food. I went to pickup my food and was told by the workers that they do not accept DoorDash orders when they are busy. Yet I was able to do it online? So they never made my food and wouldn’t make it unless they charged me again. I told them no and that I already paid. They told me they would reject the DoorDash ticket, and I would be refunded. However they didn’t and it was marked as completed, so I was charged the full amount.

Our first time but not our last! Authentic to the core. I adore pad Thai and their version was spot on. It was piping hot and didn't have to warm it up after a 20 minute drive home. Can't wait to try their other menu items. You'll be very pleased you tried them out!

I tried a few things on the menu. A little salty. Not to happy about the uncooked chicken wings, the Brussels sprouts were good and the tom coconut soup was delicious. Looking at my green curry, I heard it was very spicy. I’m afraid. If you like spicy, go for it. Thai tea was good too. Small spot in a hole.

Tried this unassuming spot for the first time last night, and it was great! Staff was nice, very helpful. They were really clear about spice levels too, which is much appreciated! I had the papaya salad and my partner had the khao soi, and both were delicious. Highly recommend giving Nam Khong a shot.

Just wonderful Thai and Laos dishes

Would not recommend. Our take-out order consisted of the red curry, pad thai, and Laotian style crispy rolls. The red curry was ordered with tofu and consisted of ONLY tofu in curry base (sans vegetables). The pad thai was a congealed block of noodles with tofu (noodles were either old or exceptionally over cooked) without much flavour. Reason for 2 stars was that the Laotian style crispy rolls were decent, however not enough to save the meal. Massively disappointing experience all told.

My sister and I were in Westerly from out of town to settle our mother's estate. Neither of us are famililar with Westerly and had no clue as to where to go for supper. We decided on Thai so I Googled "Thai Westerly" and Nam Khong popped up as the closest to where we were.

OMG what a meal! We arrived a bit late and Peter, the owner, warned us he was closing soon (it was 7:15 and he said he wanted people out at 7:45). No matter, I was getting food there even if I had to eat outside!

It was worth the risk. I had a chicken stir fry with peanut sauce, which was possibly the best peanut sauce I've ever had. My sister had a shrimp curry that was perfection. We shared rice rolls that were done beautifully. I could have eaten all four.

Other reviews on this place are totally correct. This was the best Thai food I've ever had anywhere in the US. Thanks to Peter and his wife for a wonderful experience, and for being patient!

I don't know how I've lived in this area and never had this restaurant recommended to me. There is nothing about it that is trying too hard. It's delicious, straight forward, and the owner/operator Peter is such a nice gentleman. I had the pleasure of dining in with some friends and everyone really enjoyed their food. The fried brussels sprouts are a must try in my opinion, and I was really happy with the signature dish Nam Khong with duck. Thai iced tea was tasty, service was quick. Highly recommended, simply fantastic.

Ordered a Spicy Pad Thai and Laotian Crispy Rolls that were both fantastic.

I expect I will order from here again in the future.

The food is exceptional. It’s hard to find exceptional food that is authentic like they make at Nam Kong Restaurant. I was so proud to have the opportunity to work there after I retired and arrived from Hawaii. It was hard to find a fine dining Thai restaurant in the East Coast. My experience there was exceptional!!!! I kept going back and finally inquired as to whether or not they needed help in the restaurant. I ended up working for them. They made me feel like family. Unfortunately, I had to quit, but I miss them and all the wonderful customers that I had the opportunity to meet, Nam Kong takes pride in what they make and serve, make no mistake, when you want Thai food..... Nam Kong is where you want to go. I miss that place so much!!🥰

Best curry around

Awful!! Called in my order in and was told 30 min. Arrived and about 45 min and was told it hadn't even been started. When you go in, place is wrapped in plastic so you cant see anything. Food finally came. When I opened it broccoli was a yellowish colo . Beef was more like steak ums. Wide noodles were mushy. Just awful.

Nam Khong is hands down our favorite place around. We usually get food there at least once a week. Peter (the owner) is a great guy, the place is always clean, service is quick and the food is always amazing. Their fried brussel sprouts will change your life. Personal favorite dish from there is the Khao Soi which is pictured in this review. It's the best comfort food around. If Peter ever decides to retire or the restaurant closes for any other reason, I'll probably go into a deep depression.

So excited to have found a place to get great Thai food around here! Ordered the Drunken Noodle and Lion City Noodles, both with tofu. Would recommend both!! Not light on the oil, but delicious and decadent. Tofu was cooked to be crunchy on the outside, and creamy like a custard inside, rather than the puffy kind you get sometimes. Next time I’d try the house specialities, see what’s especially good.
Lunch prices also seem like a real steal. And the fella who got us our order was very sweet.

Great food!! Go there as often as I can. Very friendly people. Seems like a small family business. And if that weren't enough very reasonable prices. Enjoy!!

This is the best Laotian food. Crispy duck soup is the best, like a must have. The signature dish Nam Khong is fantastic with heat that has character. Curry is fantastic. Brussell sprouts are delicious. If you really like spice, be careful with the hot oil on every table!! Menu is small but so it the kitchen so it is managed very well and everything is exceptionally fresh. The place is not fancy, but the 5 stars is for the food. Owner services the tables and knows his repeat customers, I think his wife cooks.

Bottom line is that this place is one of Westerly's hidden gems!!

They were so good I was licking the last morsels out of the fry basket. Anyone that bypasses this little gem is really missing out. Great service, great prices, clean place, hard-working staff eager to earn your business. The owners had the menu memorized forward n backward. They take pride in their work. I didn't struggle to understand them either like I struggle in other Laos restaurants with accents and such. Really pleased here.

Amazing food!! Just moved to the area and am currently exploring all the restaurants. I was craving curry so I found this spot and took a chance. Boy did I make the right decision. The red curry duck is my go to meal, and the Brussel sprouts appetizers are on point. Reasonably priced and the portion sizes are great, the restaurant is super clean and inviting. Also, the folks that work/own the joint are super sweet! Can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu.

OMG, what a tasty treat! I had the cucumber salid. The menu said it was spicy, and it was... just the way I like it. But it was also sweet and flavorful as well. I can't compare the flavor to anything American because Thai cooking is so different. But it was surprisingly delicious. The place was spotlessly clean and tidy, and the staff extra friendly. This was my second time here, and I'll be back again!

Hidden away but worth seeking out. Excellent authentic Thai food. Very clean and very delicious. We've had a few mix ups with our take out orders but other than that I have no complaints.

The shrimp shumai were light and delicate. The red curry was just perfec; not too heavy on the coconut milk but decadent in flavor. I tried Khao Soi for the first time and it was delicious. Rich in taste and ample serving size. I highly recommend Nam Khong.

This place has pretty good food. I've had the Pad Thai, Drunken Noodle and the Pad Woonsen. I've also tried their wonton soup, but wasn't really a fan. It has a lot of minced garlic in it which I'm not really used to with wonton soup. When we dined in we had the fired calamari which was excellent but priced kind of high for the portion received. Although, I would order it again.

The portions are not all that big but certainly enough for one with the addition of an appetizer or soup. The problem is that the times they are open are completely inconsistent. There is never a sign on the door that tells you why they aren't open on a day when the week before they were open on that day, for example Wed one week and closed on Wed the next week. Out of 10 times we've tried to go or order takeout they have been closed 7. If they were consistent with being open we'd certainly order and visit more often.

I recommend the Pad Woonsen, it's amazing, and much better than their Pad Thai. Pad Thai is usually my go to but their Pad Thai isn't one of the best I've had, but if you like spicy try the drunken noodle! It's excellent.

If you are in the area and looking for good food you won't be disappointed - if they're open.

Yes, indeed a foodie here! Okay, where shall this Lil foodie monster begin lol. I don’t live in the area but I visit very often. I was craving authentic Asian food. No, not the Asian fusion food but authentic homeland Asian food. So, after googling tbh I choose by name and not for stars rating or reviews because what’s one find to be disgusting, another would find it to be amazing lol. I tried their beef laab and pho noodles- I must admit, I had many laab but this restaurant made it different, different was not bad but very pleasing and satisfying. The pho was also differ from the pho I had anywhere else, it was very home made and pho-nomenal. Almost, forgot to state : the server and the employees are by far very friendly and welcoming. I would absolutely recommend you try this restaurant if you’re tired of cheesy Chinese take out;) but be aware this is one of those acquiring taste restaurant. Authentic Asian food for foodies!! If, you love Thai and Loas food or looking to explore something less ordinary make sure to stop and taste the rainbow.

Had lunch here today. The place is immaculate. It is tastefully decorated. The owner and his wife are very friendly. I ordered the Vegetarian Tofu Panang Curry. It was presented on a lovely porcelain dish. It was very, very good. This is the best Thai food I have tasted in South County. We had the Mango on Coconut Sticky Rice for dessert- it was out of this world and a generous portion. For beverages, we had very reasonably-priced Singha and BeerLao (dark). There were several items on the menu I wanted to try and I look forward to going back.

Dumplings were good, but main entree was very greasy, would not recommend pineapple fried rice or drunken noodles, Conor Thai Café is by far the best option for Thai food, or at least it was before the owner changed
