We celebrated my wife’s birthday at Thai Basil, and it was an incredible experience! The food was delicious, especially the Drunken Noodles and Green Curry, and beautifully presented.
The service was top-notch, and the staff made my wife’s day feel special with their warm hospitality. Highly recommend for any occasion!
When you have a great go-to place to get Thai food it is always hard to try any place else. Thai Basil didn't disappoint, and I have another place to go when I am up here. The curry was made less spicy for us, but still a bit on the hot side for my wife. It was very delicious. The appetizer combo platter was a good mix of delicious treats. The peanut sauce was yummy as was the lemongrass chicken pad Thai. The best dish of the night was the pineapple fried rice, a house favorite. It is obvious why it is their favorite, and it is certainly a favorite of mine now. The raisins in it really were a nice touch.
Delicious food and great service! Very clean and one of the most balanced menus I’ve encountered for a Thai restaurant. On my most recent visit we came with a large and multilingual group. Waiter was very patient in answering questions and getting the orders right. I have great respect for the cooks who churned out dish after dish - all excellent and very satisfying. If I lived in the neighborhood I would become a regular!
We each ordered a bowl tom kha soup. Then my husband ordered Lemon Grass chicken Phad thai. He ordered it because he had never seen it on a thai menu. It was the best phad thai he ever had. I ordered the Crunchy Cashew with chicken. It's a large helping, and I ate all of it. We have been gone from the northwest for almost a year. We have missed good thai, and this was some of the best we have ever had. I tried to get their peanut sauce recipe. It was delicious!
Although it is often busy we found a seat easily. Ordered appetizers, combination plate. I really enjoyed the egg rolls and shrimp wonton wraps. The spicy chili sauce was my favorite of the two. I recommend it. Spicy eggplant was quite good, didn't ask for a spice level, don't know if that's an option. Could be spicier but the dish was very good, we decided that it would have been better to just have eggplant with no added protein. Also got the house special, peanut sauce special. Did not like it, too simple, might be a good introduction to a lightly sauced Thai dish, so it depends what you're looking for.

The chicken pad Thai was super bland and had way too much MSG. An unfortunate waste of money that won’t be repeated. The guy at the counter was super nice. Too bad the food was awful.
Great service and yummy panang curry. Really a great spot to visit old friends.
The bad: I ordered a tropical salad that tasted like it had urine in it. The sauce was yellow mixed with herbs and spices. The only reason I know this is because when I was a teenager I had a friend who played a trick on me where he gave me what looked like apple juice, was warm and basically told me to drink it, which I took a drink and then spit it out. It was urine. The salad I took a few bites of basically tasted the same. When I confronted the waitress after having reordered different food and ate part of it, I told her the reason why I didn’t want to eat the rest of the salad and she made light of my situation and acted like it was nothing.
The good: the coconut juice and peanut sauce Thai food I had were pretty good! Plus the waitresses are patient.
I used to really love Thai Basil but last time I was disappointed. Their chicken pad Thai was rubbery, bland and had a burnt taste like it had been sitting for a long time.
Did takeout. Very good Pad Thai and Drunken noodles! Worth a visit!
A delightful experience. The service was exceptional for a very large group.
Food taste was very bad. It was nothing like Thai food.
We had a great experience. We had some food allergies and they were so sweet when checking on items we had questions about. Food came quickly and was very good.
Great food, but the staff is the best, great lunch spot, Pad Thai is the best in the area

I’ve tried 125 Thai restaurants in the Portland metropolitan area and Thai Basil is by far one of the best restaurants, their food, and atmosphere and food presentation is top-notch…❤️
Wonderful place! Food was amazing, Pat was a wonderful host/waiter!
Wonderful staff and excellent food! Very god service! I will be back!!
This is our go-to for good Thai food in Lake Oswego. The stir fry, noodles, and curries with chicken are consistently good and so is the service even when they are busy. The fried rice dishes are very tasty.
This is a delicious spot, the Oswego noodle and lemongrass chicken pad Thai are our favorites! Great flavor, super clean restaurant, and super friendly staff. We come here at least once a month!
Delish lunch menu!
Always the best food and atmosphere
Staff are so nice I have gone to this restaurant for the past 6 years and they never failed to have an amazing meal
First time at Thai Basil. I ordered Lemon Grass Chicken Pad Thai, Grilled Vegetables and Papaya Salad. The Pad Thai was excellent and flavorful - not spicy and a delicious, smoky flavor. Highly recommended.
The food is always good. Fresh, veggies are crisp, just the right spice. Servers are always pleasant and competent.
Our go to for Thai in the Portland metro. Drunken noodle is a favorite dish.
Servers are ok but the food is really really bland. Not coming back.
One of the better Thai places I've been to. Generous amount of fresh tasting veggies, lots of seasoning, good flavor.
Food has really gone downhill recently. Curry is watery and tasteless, Pad Thai is meh. Fine in a pinch I guess but not something I would recommend.
Prices stayed the same, portions got a lot smaller, food doesn’t taste as good.
Good food. Modest atmosphere. Contains the expected dishes, all done well. Attentive service. Fair prices.
Amazing food every time! I come here to treat myself. The lower atmosphere score is the boxes in the back. It detracts from the ambiance.
Thai Basil - The food is excellent and the whole place is decorated beautifully. About six months ago, I noticed a little area of used boxes was starting to collect directly in front of their back wall under some impressive wall art. Two nights ago, I saw that it had mutated into a mountain of empty boxes resting on bags of rice! After complimenting the woman serving us our dinner on the quality of the food and the beauty of the décor, I asked her why the boxes were there in plain view of all the customers. She said they were used for take-out. When the small number of boxes were ostensibly over-looked by customers, the owner (possibly unconsciously) decided that the main focal wall of his restaurant was the perfect place for all the boxes that were shipped to the restaurant. He stopped seeing them as messy and they were now in a convenient place and a great way to recycle. It was shocking to see as the wall of boxes was at least 4’ high, covering some of the lovely wall art.
I'm writing this in the hope that the owner sees this and finds a better place for the boxes and bags of rice - and restores this area back to the beautiful focal point that it was designed to be.
Once again - great food and service!

Exceptional, outstanding Thai food. Ping is amazing! The Three-Flavor Salmon is incredible. The service is second to none.
We’ve been eating at Thai basil, for as long as it’s been opened. It is our go to take away dinner when we don’t want to cook. Our favorites are pad Thai and pineapple fried rice. We’ve never had anything but amazing service.
So thankful for Thai basil!
Staff weren’t very friendly!! I always wonder about a place when they have a large sign “ we reserve the right to refuse service”. Portions are little on small side. Honestly yellow curry chicken tasted pretty good. They do charge for sauce ( and do not ship with orders) Double check those togo’s….
I came back yes indeed, is flavourful. Can't stop eating it yum. After 2 years. I came back for work and this was the first place I came to.
Got the masaman Veggie curry this time. Yum
First time 2021, So good the flavors of the food I got was delicious.
Tropical Mango dish was very good.
incredibly friendly staff. hospitality was great. Pat was so nice!
Pineapple fried rice was very good.
Traditional Asian restaurant decor, lots of seating, quick service. This reminds me of some of the places we went to in the 80s & 90s. It's great for a work lunch because the portions are perfect - I don't feel like I need a nap afterwards. The menu has lots of choices, including vegetarian. The prices are very reasonable! The taste is simple. The ingredients are good. We will be back!
They have the best Tom Yum I’ve ever had, but everything else was completely unremarkable to me. The green curry was VERY salty and strange. I had never eaten there before and got a large take out order to eat with a group of friends. I selected it strictly based on reviews and my hopes were high. My dinner guests never said anything, but no one ate much and there were a ton of leftovers. Maybe it was just an off night, I’m probably willing to give it another shot, just not on $125 in take out. I so much wanted to love it, the man who helped me with the order was a doll and like I said, the best Tom Yum EVER! But... ehhhh
Good food
Deelish! I love everything I've ever gotten. The purple rice pudding is phenomenal! Great prices. Great variety. Consistently good.
Had a birthday dinner with friends. We had excellent food and awesome service for 7.
We ordered takeout from this place and picked up our order. The food was delicious. We got the drunken noodles, the basil fried rice, and a salad roll. The lunch prices were reasonable, and the food was on point. The atmosphere in the restaurant was not the greatest. It looked like the dining room doubled as a storage area for empty cardboard boxes. We weren't too bothered, though, since we weren't dining in. We will definitely be back for takeout.
I’ve been trying to find some authentic Thai food around the Tigard area and am happy to report that Thai Basil has some OUTSTANDING food. It’s seasoned just right and the ingredients were of great quality.
Mushy greasy over cooked vegetables in my stir fry. Salty slimy and inedible. Spring roll has none of the usual vegetables just rice noodles and a small piece of lettuce and tofu and half the size they usually are. Fried rice tastes like burnt rancid oil. White rice mushy enough to be pudding . They offered to make us a new meal after saying “this his how they make it.” No thanks! Crossing this place off my list forever.
All food we ordered were good, except the Salmon dish I ordered, the quality of the salmon was bad. Hope the restaurant will be taking care of their Salmon quality next time.
Great Thai food to go or dine in. This place has been consistent for decades.
Nice place but always seems like a food factory
Visited from out of town, and had the friendliest staff that helped us make the best choices for us. Food came quickly and was absolutely delicious.
The BEST Thai food nearby. I eat here a few times a month and am always impressed. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. About half the time I do takeout and the food keeps really well and tastes fresh and hot still by the time I'm home.
Excellent place to eat, very nice and laid back staff. Enjoyed my time here 😀
Surprisingly alright, I definitely enjoyed their house made hot sauce. All the food on our table looked great. My meal had decent flavor and the temperature was good also.
I only tried the Pad Thai and their spring roll. The food was good and I love that they know how to substitute or accommodate allergies to soy and wheat.
I'm excited to try other dishes like the red curry or some other stir fry dish. I would recommend to check it out since there's not many good Thai places around.
Had this tonight and oh my god. It’s incredible!! Run don’t walk and get spicy drunken noodles immediately!
To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The curry was so water that all the ingredients separated within minutes. I have had a lot of Thai curry’s and this was by far the worst. There was probably a full can of green beans in my red curry. I have never had a restaurant put canned green beans in a Thai curry before. Needless to say, it was bad. It wasn’t worth eating, let alone finishing. If you want good Thai food, go anywhere other than Thai Basil.
The food and service was fantastick.
Been here 3x and will never return. Disappointed every time. Lunch portions are very small. Lacks flavor, extra charges for rice. Charges for sauce when you spend $80 and no napkins! Not sure how this place stays open. Convenient is the only thing going here. You know what they say, it’s about location.
Delicious food, slow service

I truly enjoyed the Elephant Ears, with REAL Crab meat by the way. The service here is top notch and the ambience is one of elegant dining. As a guide, I Highly recommend it!
Excellent food, big portions and fair pricing. The staff are wonderful!

Great Thai food! We were impressed!! The portions were on the small side but every dish we got was awesome.
Great gluten free options. Curries are great.
Way too small of a lunch portion for to go food.
Delicious food, pleasant atmosphere, prompt service.
I love this place! Great food, super reasonable prices, and they are always very quick for those professionals eating a quick lunch.
This is my go to for lunch! Good prices and great service and I love to get the peanut sause delight! 😍
Consistently work hard to earn our business. Great food and very timely on the preparation! My favorite was the pineapple fried rice. Delicious!
Wonderful!!!
Great waitstaff, great thai and no waiting
Got the lunch pad Thai to go. It was ok. The only veggie I got was bean sprouts. There wasn’t any lime or herb garnish. The noodles were a little stuck together, like maybe they made a lot of orders to sell and it had been sitting for a while. Other than that it was ok. I ate it! But with so many good Thai places in pdx, I won’t be coming back.
Good food.
Tasty food at good location
Great Food!!
Delicious and nutritious food. We love the Tom Ka soup, Thai Ginger, and the tea is so good. Staff is so kind and friendly. My friends and family love this place!
Taste good
I’ve eaten at Thai Basil a couple of times now and their food is very good. The only reason I have subtracted one star is because the calamari was extremely poor quality, very chewy, and fishy(not fresh, or fresh frozen). That being said, the other proteins I have eaten are delicious (chicken, pork)
Anyways, I would really like ownership to know that I am ok, and willing to pay the up-charge of a good quality calamari. I really love a fresh tender calamari and would love to see this restaurant get a better vendor for that product.
This is a photo of the “drunken noodle” as take out. Very delicious other than the calamari, which I had to throw out because it was inedible.
I have eaten here twice, for lunch, in the last couple months and both times have been very pleased. The food was good, with plentiful portions and the service excellent.
I'm not an expert on Thai food, just someone who likes to eat and we very much enjoyed the food here.
My business partner and I ordered lunch, and the food was so good, we ordered another lunch. Very tasty.
Authentic, healthy and deliciously fresh Thai food in a smaller establishment with excellent personalized service.
Just yum. Nuff said.
Service at table was wonderful. We had three different curries. All of them where very mild in curry flavor. I would have liked to have had more curry flavor when I order a curry dish. The menu items marked as being spicy, weren't spicy at all.
Excellent food. Terrific service.
Great choices for lunch for only $10! Lots of choices, delicious food.
Been there at few times. The beef Drunken noodles are the best I have found so far.
We've been here a few times, but tonight we took my husband's parents out for their anniversary. Everyone found their meal delicious. Lovely, quiet restaurant.
So delicious. Our go to for Thai food in the area. The Oswego Noodles are delicious!
Possibly the best Thai in Portland. Really friendly people and amazing/fresh food.
If you don't like this place you probably don't have taste buds
All was great
Day 1 arrived into Portland, comes here to try the Thai basil for quick lunch. Ordered the pad thai : Thai fried thin rice added with peanut. It was rather too sweet in my view. Tom yum soup is rather too mild and not flavourful. The fried stuffed chicken Wing not too bad. Ideal for quick lunch and prefer to be more spiciness!
Their Thai basil fried rice is absolutely the very best I’ve had! Also the Pad Thai is savory and delicious. I’m now officially addicted!
We love Thai food. We've tried many in this area and have found Thai Basil to be the best. Prices are affordable, portions are good, and the flavors are amazing
The wait was short on a Friday night, the place was clean and well decorated, and the staff was prompt and friendly. We had the pumpkin curry, crab fried rice, and papaya salad. All were good.
I don't know why I waited so long to go back. I really enjoyed my lunch.
Excellent that food. Healthy, flavorful and plentiful portions. Excellent value
Reviewing in real-time. Pad Thai is great. I asked for calamari with it and they kinduv overcooked the squid as it turned out a tad rubbery. Still good.
My husband ordered Beefy Massaman. It turned out too salty, I didn't have to use the fish sauce I asked for... So I plan to just take it home to tweak it, probably add more coconut milk to lower the salty taste and have it for lunch. Service is great though. 😊
Good (not great) food, but bonus points for their social distancing setup.l and handling of the pandemic.
Best Pumpkin Curry EVER!!!
Excelente comida
Thai Basil was doing a high volume pick-up business while we watched from a table. I'd say there were two or three electronic orders for every table order. As a result the table service was a little Pokey but eventually got the job done just fine. All the food was excellent, well spiced, and perfect temperature. The coconut ice cream was amazingly good!
The food is consistently good and the staff is efficient.
Lovely food ..pad thai was 😋 yummy
Stumbled upon this place when passing through town. Great food, really great service. Lemon grass chicken pad Thai was perfect! Came to the table hot, with fresh veggies combined. Really flavorful.
Wonderful Thai food in an unassuming strip mall location. We pulled in after following the GPS and saw that the parking lot was pretty full. As it was 7pm on a Friday, we expected a wait. Nope, got right in. Order was taken promptly. The longest wait was actually for our drinks. Food came out very quickly and was excellent. Will come back again.
Todo muy limpio y la comida deliciosa 😋
Pat was a gracious host and we swapped entertaining travel stories.
The pad Thai and the drunken noodles were excellent
Excellent service, GREAT food. Fresh and flavorful.
Very disappointed in the meal. Thai ice tea was extremely sweet loaded with ice and diluted. Spring rolls were flavorless and did not come with the peanut sauce that typically accompanies them. Pad thai had a strange smoky flavor with overcooked rice noodles. Green curry was bland, all veggies were way over cooked and I asked for extra spicy 🔥 but recieved a mild dish. Both dishes lacked any effort in presentation. We will not be eating here again.
I ordered a vegan pumpkin curry and a vegan pad Thai. Absolutely delicious and our waiter was so helpful to ensure we had a tasty vegan meal.
The food is great and the service is wonderful. Very kind.
I like to use this restaurent for catering small dinner parties of 10/12 too!
I am visiting from Vegas and Thai Basil was recommended by a colleague. This place is soooo AMAZING! Some of the best Thai food I have ever had! Emerald Catfish was delicious and the spring rolls were the best I have ever had ANYWHERE! Definitely recommend this restaurant and will come back anytime I am in Lake Oswego!!!!
I especially like the panang curry here.
Great place for food
Many friends and I have been so disappointed in Pad Thai at a handful of local restaurants. Today, we tried one from the past, Thai Basil in Lake Oswego.
Today, Ping greeted us, served us, guided us in ordering. Our experience was "off the charts" with our perect Pad Thai and professional and kind server. Thank you, Ping and Thai Basil.
.
The fried tofu is amazing! I love that there is a vegan pad thai option.
Friendly and quick service, and delicious food! Would recommend :)
Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup were delicious. Flavors were subtle yet still flavorful and blended well.
Excellent service and the best drunken noodles I’ve ever tried!
The website says they are open until 10pm yet they are open until 9pm. It’s not hard to update a website if the hours have changed. Get with the times……
Consistent, flavorful, and clean eats! Would recommend to anyone searching for authentic Thai food! We've been coming here for years. Never a bad choice 😊 The pumpkin curry is fantastic!
Food was so flavorful!! Not crazy spicy, but still super tasty. Food came out pretty quick too. The staff working there were kind and did their best despite being understaffed to get us our food quickly
