Familiar Thai dishes such as noodles & curries in a light-filled dining room with a laid-back vibe.
I really liked the food. There are a lot of different options. The service was great. I did have to wave someone down for more water. The only thing that I wish there was, AC. It made it kind of a miserable dining experience because it was so hot. It was 100Β° outside. All the food came out hot, good thing, and it made it hotter inside the restaurant.
Seriously great Thai food and the right price plus wonderful people. Good portions and the flavor is exactly what I was looking for in a hole in wall place that actually is nice on the inside vibe.
Will keep coming back and appreciate the serving size for the Tom Kha. Better to eat in than order out.
Peanut sauce is legit, won't disappoint.
5 years ago this was my favorite place to eat It was so rich and flavorful. My family really missed this place when moved to Florida. So when We finally moved back to the Northwest today we ordered Arawan to celebrate. We really talk this place up in Florida we told people this Thai place beat every Thai restaurant we had in Florida and we found a good Thai restaurant down there to ππ€€. But tonight we were really let down. The food was so bland it might as well be oatmeal. Oatmeal is good don't get me wrong but it wasn't what we wanted. The place still has great and friendly service. The restaurant is still beautiful and charming but I hope that tonights bland meal is a fluke of the bad day and not the new norm π€.
I have to say the people that work there were very friendly. However I was very disappointed in the food. I ordered the pineapple fried rice with cashews and tofu. The rice was served and it was under seasoned with lots of vegetables like broccoli, carrots and onions. There was very little egg and very few pineapples. They forgot to add the cashews and brought it out later in a little tiny cup. I'm estimating maybe one tablespoon of cashews. Not only were they raw they were not salted or roasted. I took it home and added spices including herbs like cilantro, more egg and more toasted cashews. I had to fix it at home! That's not the point of going out and spending a good chunk of change. Hopefully they'll look at their recipe for their pineapple fried rice and work on that. I also ordered the veggie spring roll. It was very standard and pretty greasy. And the pad thai my friend got was pretty basic. Probably won't go back again and hopefully this review will help them work on their recipes in the kitchen.
It's a nice place not too loud To make sure that you have everything you need Very polite I've only had one experience where they forgot to put in Is part of the Order They brought to me what they forgot I really appreciate that And gave me back my tip because they forgot part of the order But since they brought it to me I told them to keep it. Accident happened Even though it shouldn't it does No one's perfect!
Who would have thought that a little place near a Home Depot would be so amazing!! We are traveling and craving Thai. Found this and chose it based on location. Ordered to go and ate outside.
Yellow curry with brown rice is amazing!!!
If we lived near here this would be our absolute go to Thai place.
If you are looking for an authentic Thai, dining experience, Arawan is a great place to visit. Yeah. The staff greets you with warmth and are very accommodating to your requests.
I had the basil pork stir fry and itβs a perfect balance of umami, salty and spicy. Perfectly pairs with cooked white rice. My husband got pork green curry and itβs sweet and savory with the right balance of curry and spices.
Definitely coming back!
The salad rolls with peanut sauce are fabulous! The pad prig king was simply amazing! But the basil stir fry was a dud. Instead of chili paste it tasted like soy sauce. The pineapple fried rice was ok.
Based on the other reviews Iβd say this restaurant can be a hit or a miss. We absolutely loved half our meal.
Good food! Great service!
Food amazing. Service ok. Beat pad thai ever!!!
Best Pad see ew in town IMO.
The best in town. Everyone is nice there.
Seriously great Thai food and the right price plus wonderful people. Good portions and the flavor is exactly what I was looking for in a hole in wall place that actually is nice on the inside vibe.

Fantastic
Love that chicken pad thai. Good taste but a little spendy. Inflation
My favorite thai spot. Got all the classics
Get the crab Rangoon and the pad thai

Great prices ($14 for entrees) and delicious food. This is a must visit for fresh and fantastic Thai cuisine!

The garlic noodles are amazing as are the crab puffs.
Delicious food and friendly service!

First time there. Seemed clean and modern. Nice atmosphere. I had shrimp and chicken skewers with a noodle salad, sorry can not remember name of dish, it was nice.
Been getting the Drunk Noddles for the past year, love it. But ordered last night for pick up and it was so bland, taste like plain noodles and chicken. And service was curt. Something has changed .
This place is one of the best in Portland. Excellent food and excellent prices as well.
Some of the blandest Thai food I've ever tasted. This was literally the only time I've ever gotten food from a restaurant and thought, "this needs salt."
I will say that :
My wife and I love Thai food π₯
We eat Thai food at least once a week in many different places but Arwan was my spot for the last 12 years but Lately the quality of Service and Food went down Drastically β¦
The service was horrible
The food was not authentic, like it used to be
I am extremely disappointed and I would love to come back if things will change
But I donβt think the owner care enough about it because the foos quality and the stuff is really bad
My apologies if being Harsh but this is the truth
So many other great Thai places I can go too arena used to be great but not anymore
The last few times I was there the food was bad and the service
I really liked the food. There are a lot of different options. The service was great. I did have to wave someone down for more water. The only thing that I wish there was, AC. It made it kind of a miserable dining experience because it was so hot. It was 100Β° outside. All the food came out hot, good thing, and it made it hotter inside the restaurant.
This place is always great, I've never had a bad experience and the food is always excellent
The food is good, but customer service is terrible. Iβm here about once a month and have never had a positive customer service experience. Staff is rude, short, and appears annoyed with customer existence.
This adorable and quaint place was perfect for a quick lunch. Service was fast and their Thai tea delicious.
Food only ok, but definitely check to make sure you get what you ordered. We got all the way home and our order was wrong. Spent too much money on food I wonβt eat.
Love their food here. Delicious...and fast service!
Food is not authentic Thai.. pai Thai tasted like noodles in tomato sauce. Food took quite a while and service was not good.. waitress 'couldnt understand' I wanted water, and there was no apologies for food that took 30 mins to come up
Wish I didn't leave a tip ..
Iβve had Thai food both all Around America and Thailand and this is some of the best Iβve ever had
This is my boyfriend and Iβs favorite Thai restaurant ever! We usually get the pad thai & pad see ew and it is always amazing. Service is friendly and portions are enough to eat βfamily styleβ. I always recommend here to my friends and family.
Very good as usual. Love the curry
The food is amazing! This is now are go to for Thai.
I love everything about this Thai place. We live 2 hours away and will make sure to eat here everytime we get a chance to.
Okay for a quick lunch, but certainly have enjoyed better Thai food.
This is my favorite Thai restaurant! The food is always delicious & so fresh. My entire family enjoys all the dishes we order every time.
One of my all time favorite places to visit and to tell anyone looking or hungry for the best Thai food in town! Canβt wait to visit again!
Ratiram bhai R
Amazing food!! We had the shrimp pad Thai, pineapple curry, crab rangoons and spring rolls, each was fresh and tasty!
Working so slowly you need wait order a long time, 1-2h
Always a great place for dinner. I eat here at least once a month
Always good, food and service is top-notch.
Takeout is as good as dining in.
This is my new regular spot. I got dinner to go for four people, called an order in and they had the order completely ready and hot within the 20 minutes they told us. I love that they were accurate in how quick it would take. Their summer/salad rolls (the rice paper ones) were fresh and delicious.
Food is nasty. Over priced. Donβt recommend.
Good food and nice people
Delicious food with stellar service!
My fiancΓ©e loves Thai food and after we left the near-by mall she noticed this place was nearby. Previously, I have always liked a good pad thai because of its consistency across restaurants. Where I have normally been unimpressed with curry dishes.
This place made me want to give Thai curry another chance. And I am so glad I did. I got the Garden Curry w/ tofu (extra spicy) and I was blown away! The vegetables were cooked well and the curry had a slightly sweet profile then a warm rising heat along with a full mouth watering curry flavor.
I added my remaining rice to the sauce to soak up every last drop.
I loved the tofu salad rolls and the peanut sauce was amazing.
All for a great price I would 100% recommend and come bake again!
My family and I have been going here for a long time, and their quality of food and service has always been excellent. Not only is the food great, but the prices are still affordable. Always love these guys, definitely recommend!
Very comfortable and quiet little restaurant I enjoyed my mail and I noticed that all the employees had a smile on their faces and were obviously having a great day my food was very delightful thank you Arawan for an above 5 star experience at your restaurant
Delicious meal served quickly with a smile!
I don't know if they changed the recipe or the owners. But this used to be one of my favorite Thai restaurants until my recent visit. My husband and I both had the chicken pad Thai and we were both very disappointed. The waitress was very nice so we didn't have the heart to complain. But in my opinion I would not visit again.. very disappointed
Iβve been eating here off and on for years. I have yet to be disappointed with their food. Itβs the best
Really good! The veggies are nice and fresh and food is packed with flavor. Only complaint is that the heat level is too low. I asked for as hot as they could make it and I still had to add hot sauce. That being said, I still gave it 5 stars as you can see.
Absolutely delicious food. Freshest of the fresh. They are patient with those new to Thai ordering and offer help after some questions. I found the staff very kind, helpful and even fun. The portion sizes are generous, and I always end up taking some home for when that hunger creeps in later. I say try them out and see what you think.
That mango sticky riceβ¦damn good.
I went for lunch and had the Pad Ki Mow. It was probably the most delicious Thai dish I have ever eaten. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were great too! ππΌ
Edit: My Uber Eats order number was 42E23. Uber ended up refunding my money. I have increased my rating to a 4 star since the restaurant host replied in a professional manner.
This place is great! I have eaten at a lot of Thai places in town and I flavors are just right. We will be coming back here for sure. This is our new default Thai restaurant.
Great taste, fair price, clean location with nice staff.
Yummy yummmy yummmmmmmmmmmmmmy
Not to busy when we went. Great service. Food was awesome.
The food was not authentic at all. I was not asked if I wanted spicy and there was absolutely no spice. Even the normal seasoning that we would use to make these dishes were not present. Normally you put cabbage with the larb and Som Thom but they used head lettuce. Not good.
I will say in the past I have had some of the noodle dishes that were good.
We go there every few months. The food is always good. The people working there are always friendly. It's a pleasure to do business with them.
The Appetizers we had were great and my boyfriends pineapple fried rice with shrimp was delicious but the chicken pad Thai that I ordered along with mild spice was probably the worse I've had. It had no spice at all and it almost tasted like it had ketchup in it... it just wasn't very good. If I'd never had pad Thai before I'd probably have thought it was OK, it was edible not disgusting but I'd definitely not order it again. Maybe it was an off day because everything else was perfect and the service was great. I'd go there again but I'd try something else on the menu next time around.
My favorite Thai food. They know me by name lol.
This place is pretty neat! The staff were super friendly and the prices were not too steep (appx. $15/person). I really enjoyed the spices they used!
Great food and pricing, portion sizes are huge and quality is excellent.
Food was ready on the table but still made me wait around. Pay attention
Best pad ki mao in town. Awesome salad rolls and peanut sauce. Thai iced te gits just right.
Phad thai tastes off, the sauce isn't to the same quality as the rest of the restaurant
My favorite Thai food, hands down. Always solid, always fast and delicious, whether I'm eating there, picking up, or having it delivered.
Drunken noodles are good
Very good food. Especially liked the peanut sauce, used it both in the intended dishes and on others, it complemented the flavors well.
Food was fresh, and the foods labeled dairy free and shellfish free appear to be as labeled as I haven't gotten sick. They had Thai Iced Tea with both dairy and dairy free options.
Would definitely go again next time I'm in town.
Ordered family plates, so I got to try a number of dishes. I personally had the Drunkard Pad Thai, Pineapple Fried Rice, Tom Kha, and Salad Roll. All were good, though if you're intolerant of spiciness, avoid the Drunkard variant of Pad Thai. If you like spices, though, it's absolutely fantastic.
Had the pineapple curry with white rice and it was absolutely delicious! And the service was excellent as always!
Friendly staff. I went there for lunch and my food was ready super fast. Fast and delicious
Great quality nice sized portions.. one of My favorite places.
Great place almost want to give it a 5 star, but some times the food is perfect and other times its so so.. but when you do make it in on those good days the food is amazing. Try the Pineapple Noodles with Beef, great dish.
Great place with unique flavors. Always hits the spot. Have been going here for many years and always has been good. Love the Pad Se Ew they have.
Ordered pad Thai and asked for my chicken on the side and was told I couldnβt do that. Pad Thai was dry and the Thai iced tea I got was way to milky. Pad Thai need veggies. We didnβt feel welcome and waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken. Wonβt go back.
Way over priced and lied to about the size of serving. Will never go back. Will continue to go to ichi teriyaki 23 on 162nd and division. Don't recommend this place at all.
I was walking about waiting for repairs at Best Buy when I found Arawan. Oh, so good, the shrimp egg drop soup, so much better than a hamburger.
Great food friendly staff
the staff are very nice and food is very good π
I've been coming here since they opened. My family and I have NEVER had anything we disliked there. EVERYTHING is DELICIOUS! MY FAVORITES are the Tom Ka Gai... Chicken Satay... and Cashew Chicken. Their Coconut Ice Cream is HEAVENLY! Even if you are not VERY adventurous... the Chicken Satey (skewered chicken strips w/peanut sauce) is DELICIOUS and will keep you coming back! If you have a nasty head cold...( or worse Covid) have someone pick up (or delivered) some Tom Yum. It's a spicy warm Chicken soup that will open you up and make you feel MUCH better! One of the great things abt Arawan... is that YOU get to control (for the most part) the amt of spice/heat you want in you food. My Mom likes her Tom Yum much spicier than I... but whether you choose a mild spice... or BOOM comes the HEAT... You will feel SO MUCH BETTER after a bowl. Or just to treat your tastebuds to something new... Give it a try! You WON'T regret it! π
Authentic, fresh, clean location, friendly service.
This place never disappoints
Best food and great service
Online ordering from their website is very convenient for take-out. All of their dishes are delicious. Thai iced tea is exceptional.
The women who served us was very rude .
Arawan is great! Some of my favorite food in portland. I'm picky. The two people that left 1 star reviews are probably just the competition trying to hurt their business. Don't be fooled! Arawan rules. Nice people there as well!
Absolutely delicious, I would recommend, we will be back.
Pad Thai was mediocre, fast service, easy to order and pay.
Wrong phone number
At one point, I ate here 4 days in a row. Love the food, love the service, prices are fair. Would recommend this place to anyone looking to eat good Thai food.
On the other hand, donβt come here, I donβt want to wait long for my food!! ;)
My favorite Thai Place tho.
This is by far the best Thai place in town. And Iβve tried many of them. Iβm here almost weekly and the food and service is fantastic. I usually call in a Togo order and they have it ready by the time I arrive. My wife and I sometimes come here on date night. Itβs fantastic.

Delicious food
Most of the time it is fantastic Thai food. Have had the occasional βnot up to standardsβ order, but for the most part it is consistently good food for a moderately good price.
Standing in front of the restaurant with the sign saying theyβre open, the website saying theyβre open, the hours posted on the door saying theyβre open and they wonβt serve any of the customers and are rude about it to boot.
Nice woman, regular food
I love Arawan! Veggie stir fry with brown rice, tofu, gluten free sauce.. add peanut sauce and sriracha on the side. Pictured is less than half a serving of the food. One meal is way more than enough for my partner and I to share. Great prices, always quick and friendly service.
Iβm not sure if other posters just havenβt had great Thai food before or not, but this is very average. Been here several times because a friend loves it, but I havenβt found a dish Iβd go back for by myself.
My favorite place in town.
They messed up my order and the chicken skewers were very dry
My favorite go to Thai place! Love this place! Great take out, the food is delicious Iβve tried a variety and have yet to try something I donβt like. You will love this place too!
Great food! Good variety in their menu and the food is usually ready pretty quickly.
Pretty expensive and the pad thai was clumpy and stuck together.
Service was awesome and the food is delicious.
Great Tai food.
Waited outside for 15 minutes for it to be ready and then it was cold.
The food needed more seasoning (dry sauteeyed string bean), their pineapple curry wasn't noted as being spicy which it definitely was (no spiciness was asked either: mild, hot, or any of the like), and I've had better thai tea from other thai restaurants.
The food flavor demonstrated also didn't match the higher than average cost of the food.
Fast & delious!!
Some of the best pad Thai in town, deff top 3 and the Thai ice tea is banging, a bit small but banging
first stop on my goal to try every thai place portland has to offer.
this place is my childhood, I've watched them grow and get bigger and bigger for almost 2 decades. I remember scooting out of one of the old really tall booths and falling on my bum. And discovering lactose intolerance through too much of their icecream. My mother claims this place gave her food poisoning over a decade ago, but take that with a grain of salt.
Seeing the owner happy has always made me happy. I love seeing him thrive, and I'm glad they're still keeping afloat through all of this.
I guess to actually talk about the food - it's so good that I'd literally just go to fill up on the chicken satay appetizer for all of my early years. I could swim in that silky little peanut curry - absolutely irreplaceable. I've grown especially fond of their pineapple dishes. Prices are a little steep, waits can be a little long, but you can typically feed 2 people with $40 dollars and 30 minutes.
It has the chic downtown energy but with available parking. If this specific spot ever goes under, Clackamas goes under.
The best beef and broccoli hands-down! The beef is very tender and soft. Very flavorful! Would highly recommend is pad ki mao (drunken noodles). They have a seasonal mango and sticky rice dessert that is incredible! Iβve been coming to this place for six years now, and it never disappoints.
Not a great experience picking up from here. they are missing entire orders that are paid for.
Pricey for small Portion of food. Food is OK
Tried here for the first time. The staff is friendly and there is plenty of parking outside. Itβs a clean and new looking spot. The portion sizes are big. The problem is that the food has no flavor. I almost couldnβt finish the food cause it was so plain. Wish there was more meat as well.
Great food at a decent price in a convenient location to stop when I'm doing errands
Its a small location that occasionally gets packed, some of these other reviews aren't being fair at all. It's good food and I'll always return.
Great food
Delicious Thai food and very friendly people!
Ok
This place is amazing
Quiet little thai place. Nice, but not outstanding food.
Super tasty curry choices and for really good prices. The staff is pretty friendly, this is a good place for lunch or dinner.
Always great food and tasty drinks.
Excellent food, friendly staff, and nice atmosphere.
Great food, friendly staff
Great little Thai place for lunch while you're out shopping. Very fast and friendly staff, delicious food at a good price. The acoustics make this a louder place when the crowd is in, but I would definitely return here for a quick lunch.
Their food is great and service is quick
Lovely family and good food. Sizes got a bit smaller than sit down order, but still plenty!
Very tasty and fresh. Itβs a go to placeπ
Horrible Service. Ok food, small portion sizes.
We have tried several thai spots in the area, this is the only one my husband will now go to. Have been going for years. Pad thai lovers, all the curries and the chicken satay are especially amazing, we love the peanut sauce they serve. Super tasty!!
Love almost everything on the menu, staff is friendly, they are quick to check in ti see if we are ready to order, get our drinks out to us quickly and the quality of the food is excellent
Most excellent thai food. Fresh, authentic flavors, careful preparation! Entire staff seem to be all focused on providing the best food and experience. Chef prepares meal as order comes in. Attentive wait staff. The curries are phenomenal as well as the chicken wings. You really can't go wrong with any menu items. This location may be in a mall but it is one of the best in the area we have eaten at. And we are foodies and have been to Thailand!
Very slow getting my "to go" food. I have always had good service here but it took over a half hour to get my food. People who came in much after I arrived were served their food while I sat waiting. Not a happy experience.
Yum. Fresh delicious good. Great price. Nice atmosphere.
Yummy salad rolls and sauce is so so good
Amazing
My favorite Thai restaurant
Great service, nice people running the restaurant. Tom Kha soup sub-par, not in the top tier in Portland. Drunken noodles, however, have a great ratio of chicken to noodle. Would return.
