Unfussy restaurant serving traditional curries, noodle & rice dishes, plus Thai-style grilled meats.
I recently dined here, overall, it was a good experience. The food was the highlight of the visit, especially their chicken BBQ, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The special rice was also interesting that complemented the meal wonderfully. While the service was just okay and the quality of the food more than made up for it. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a tasty and satisfying meal!
My dad works in the area and he and his coworkers frequent this place, so on a visit to Portland he took my sister and I here. The place is very clean, the server was polite and efficient.
The food was great. We started with crab puffs that came with a dipping sauce. I had pad khee mao (drunken noodles) with chicken and it was amazing. Melt in your mouth and perfectly flavored. They ask for your preferred spice level out of 5. I like spicy foods but played it safe with a level 2 and if was honestly a perfect balance for the noodles.
My dad’sa absolute favorite dish here is the Volcano Beef which is served on a hot plate. My sister got basil fired rice with chicken which was also good.
Portions were really big - we had to take the rice and noodles home and had a yummy dinner of leftovers.
The folks here were very friendly and welcoming. I particularly appreciated the “Can I take care of you?” when taking my order. I got a spring rolls with tofu and pad see ew with tofu. The food was excellent and really hit the spot. The only downside was the Christmas music playing on the tv that quickly went from the typical mix of artists singing the classics to a style that felt like a Christian worship service. Thankfully by the time I tuned into this shift I was finishing up my meal. I couldn't get out of their fast enough at that point.
Pretty good. The seasoning is well balanced, my husband has been very happy with the dishes he has ordered; my yellow curry was seasoned just right, but the potatoes and carrots were a little under cooked, for my liking, but the leftovers reheated at 325* for 30 minutes made it perfect.
I will never order from here again and I recommend nobody orders delivery from Original Thai BBQ after 8pm.
I'd love to give them a great review but every time I order on door dash after 8PM they make my Pad Thai extremely spicy to the point that I can't eat it. I'd understand if it was a mistake but this happens every time.
The best Panang curry I've ever had, and I've had it all over the world. The curry was surprisingly light, as compared to the dense preparations I'm accustomed to. I had the salmon version. The vegetables included sautéd green beans, fresh broccoli, red and green peppers. Layers of flavors. Super good.
The papaya salad was also top notch. The mango sticky rice was perfect.
Amy was friendly, welcoming, and very attentive throughout the meal. We had our first course on the table within 15 minutes of entering the restaurant, with the main and dessert arriving quickly thereafter.
We came here because the location was convenient to our hotel. If I lived in Portland, I'd go out of my way to come here regularly. I will definitely make a point to come back on my next visit.
Good Thai food in Happy Valley close to Kaiser.

rude.
Great food
Everyone is always nice

This place is so great
Every time I come here, the food tastes better and better. Small family restaurant, quiet location (and rarely busy - most orders are togo a worker once said). Owners/Staff are kind. BBQ ribs with sticky rice, royal duck (yellow) curry, staples like chicken satay and spring rolls - amazing!🔥
Decent looking place, but the food and service is really wanting. I got the tofu Pad Thai and it was just the cheapest version possible. Like the sauce came from a jar, like cheap tamarind ketchup. They didn't incorporate the egg and it was burned. Barely chopped the green onion. For $16. So the kitchen is clearly on auto pilot, as was the server.
Nice little place, quick service and food was delicious. At first I thought, “Thai BBQ”?!?!… I’ve never seen that in a sentence before, my wife hit the pumpkin curry, kids got the fried rice chicken katsu and I got yakisoba beef. Very tasty
Makes sure to stay near a bathroom after this one I'm sorry but everyone got the runs.

Excellent restaurant and experience. Very clean and inviting, great food, and attentive service. The mango sticky rice was on point!
Best flavor of food! Great friendly staff! Beef salad was so flavorful! I didn’t have to add lime fish sauce or anything extra! Larb just as bomb, Pad Thai was awesome as well. Would absolutely recommend this place for authentic Thai food!
The food was excellent and very tasty. The serving portions were larger than other Thai resturants. Amy, our waitress / hostess was amazing very polite and accomodating to some of our family members vegetarian requests. Loved the experience. Highly recommend you try it.
Excellent food. Quick service and fair price!
We ordered large trays for our small party - Pad Kee Mao, Spicy beef salad, and Tom Kha. They all taste amazing and the owner (Nancy?) Was very kind and provided amazing customer service! For the price, the food quality and food service are top notch! Highly recommend anytime, any day, and twice on Sunday!
I had BBQ Ribs and they were tough! They didn't charge me, but it was still disappointing.
I did a take out order for my work..the Salad rolls were fantastic. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was ready and very tasty. There were napkins and forks with out me asking. This restaurant is a small gem.
After walking in, we were met by a wonderful lady who let us choose wherever we wanted to sit and soon took our orders. She was helpful when asked about gluten free options and the food came surprisingly quick. The peanut sauce was good that accompanied the salad rolls (also delicious) and the pad Thai was absolutely scrumptious from the plating to the taste it was wonderful.
อาหารอร่อย พนักงานบริการดีเยี่ยม สถานที่จอดรถกว้างมาก 🎉
Ive been going her for over 20 years. It still tastes the same as when it was one of the only Thai resturants in Clackamas
By far one of the worst as it pertains to quality food. We tried this restaurant three years ago and it was horrible. Last night we were looking on grubhub and noticed such high reviews so we thought we would give them another try ... our mistake. All meals we received were consistantly bad
2nd time back after the re model and im disappointed.
My favorite dish the chicken Pad Ped had absolutely no flavor. It was baffling how the amazing eggplant that was packed with so much flavorful sauce was just a no flavored texture.
Tried my wife's food which was the Chicken Yakisoba and my fathers Crispy basil, both were delicious. They both tried my pad ped and agreed it wasn't worth easti6ng.
The staff member tried to rush us the whole time because ot was 40 mins before closing with all but 1 open table.
He did take the pad ped off the bill which was nice but I'd rather have my favorite dish
This place has new seats and tables. Food/menu is the same as before.
The staff are nice and the food is good.
Best Chicken Pad Thai I've ever had! I don't care for the fish sauce usually in Pad Thai, but tolerate it in small amounts. Maybe they don't use fish sauce at all because I couldn't taste it 😛 We ordered it at a level 3 for spicy and could've ordered it at level 4 if in the mood for spicier. We also ordered the Pad Thai with extra veggies. The Chicken satay and veggie rolls were equally delicious! We'll definitely be back ❤️
Okay place to go for lunch while at work.
We tried this restaurant in January 2023 for lunch. The service was slow despite very few patrons dining and the server was not attentive. We both ordered a special not on the regular menu: Fried rice with Chinese sausage for $17. The dish, which I ordered medium spice, was dry, tasteless, and had an added carrot/pea blend not in the photo advertising the special that I picked out of the dish. The total for two dishes and a Sprite apiece was $38.
The venue is located in a strip mall in a business park. There are 12 4-tops, some of which have been combined for larger parties. The venue had a lower-end sports bar feel with the television above the drink station playing sports with the volume on.
Overall, their atmosphere, dish, and service were all mediocre. Not unpalatable, but I will likely toss my leftovers. 2/5 stars.
I judge Thai places on my favorite dish:pad see ew and it was okay leaning on dry here. The service was top notch and the atmosphere was nice. My partner in crime got the duck and loved every bite. The fresh rolls (salad rolls) were superb!
I would say some of the best chicken pad, Thai that I have had the pineapple fried rice was excellent flavorful just what you expect in Thai will definitely go back and recommend to anybody who wants a great Thai dish!!
Wow, first time visit and very impressed. Waitress was a sweetheart and food was not only amazing, but the presentation looked like a gourmet restaurant. Will definitely be back!!
As a traveler it's hard to find good food places, even with local recommendations. But this place was a hit from the first time I tried it. The chicken pad Thai, chicken satay, and golden shrimp are my favorite with and absolutely amazing peanut sauce. I highly recommend them.
Best Thai food I've ever had! The Thai tea and crab rangoons were my favorite
Went in at eight and was told they weren't taking any more customers even though they closed at nine and the dinning room was empty.
I love going to Original Thai BBQ! It's my favorite Thai restaurant, I always get the Pork Yakisoba along with Thai Ice Tea ( my favorite drink 😍😍😍). Love their food and amazing appetizers!
Some of the best thai i ever ate, can't get enough! so friendly as well, what a great experience, can't thank Thai BBQ enough! THE BEST!!!
Order the red curry with tofu for takeout. Was really wanting to like this place but unfortunately the red curry was extremely watered down and flavorless. I also ordered Jasmine rice to accompany my curry and it was one big solid mushball. Big waste of money super disappointed.
Great yellow curry, but a tad expensive for take out.
Twice now we’ve ordered take out from Thai BBQ around 8 o’clock. A full hour before the are closing. The first time there was no protein in either of our entrees. This time they gave us both Pad Thai when I ordered Pad Khee Mau. I tried to call them this time to correct my order and the phone went strait to voicemail. It’s pretty obvious that this is out of pure laziness being semi close to closing time.
The Food was really good! I got the volcano beef, spice level 2 and my boyfriend got the crispy chicken fried rice. The man helping us even brought us a few different sauces to try with our meals just because he cared to make it an experience. Took the time to chat with us too. Really appreciated him and will definitely eat here again.
Save your money. Place full of flies, loud laughing servers who barely serve. I see why this place was empty on a Friday. The signature dish of "BBQ" chicken has no grilled or smoked flavor. The curry was lukewarm. The egg rolls were descent. The yakisoba was blah. The pallet of this place is obviously dumbed down for Caucasian pallets. Just not good food. I doubt this place will be open 5 years from now. Holding on by a thread. Lazy staff, full of flies, and flavorless food is a combination for disaster.
The food was really good but I got a hair in my food twice. The first time I took it as an accident and they gave me a new order. Gave them a second chance and order again and another long black hair in my food. So sad they are not careful while processing food
Super friendly staff. Great food 🤗
Good food and good service. Vegan friendly. Tables outside for nice weather. I will definitely be back.
Excellent Thai, great service.
Worth a second visit.
Me and my family love this local Thai place ! Great service and consistently amazing eats. Everything we have tried we have loved. Always quick and accurate take out orders. My favorite are the tom yum and Tom kha soups-not too spicy with rich flavorful broths. Green and yellow Curry are always amazing as well! Must try!
Great “go-to”whenever I’m working at Kaiser Sunnyside. Reasonable prices and the food never disappoints.
Delicious! Their pumpkin curry is phenomenal. Really friendly staff as well, and good prices
Great tasting , great service and made with love
Good food, great people
Best Pad Ke Mao I've had! You made my day!
Beat Pad Thai I have ever had in my life. I am a frequent customer of Original Thai BQQ. I have cheated on OTB multiple times and regret it immediately every time. There is no better Pad Thai in Oregon. and that’s on period.
Im sure they're food is really good, it smelled good, but when I cut my chicken it was still bleeding, not acceptable. the only reason im giving 2 stars is because they refunded my money.
I don't like to write bad reviews but i have to on this one. I have eaten at a lot of Original Thai BBQ restaurants and have always ordered the green papaya salad. Its one of my favs. Today I was craving it and was so disappointed with it. They are now using iceberg lettuce instead of cabbage and didn't even get any green beans with it. I called and they said that that started using lettuce instead of cabbage because a lot of customers didn't like the cabbage. I liked it before it changed owners. I wont order this again from here. Very disappointing
I love this Thai Food restuarant. I frequent here about 2 times per week for online order and pickup. All of their food is delicious. Mainly we order the Yellow curry and the Pad Thai! The egg rolls, salad rolls, and chicken satay are also very tasty! Thank you!
I eat A LOT of thai food and the green curry & red curry here are my absolute favorites. The eggplant is cooked to perfection. I'd recommend level 4 spicy if you like heat. The papaya salad is amazing and the mango sticky rice is so bright and at the same time comforting. The noodle dishes I've had so far aren't anything to write home about but the curries are mind blowing good.
Got a chicken pad thai with no chicken and a royal duck curry that's half the size of the ones I used to get at the same price with only the duck skin in the bowl, no duck meat. And don't get me started with the 5$ thai ice tea's at 16oz. Not my favorite thing restaurant anymore. We still did eat and I'm great full for that but not close to worth $32 for 2 small portions and 2 drinks.
Good food and doing an amazing job with covid! I have been grabbing take out once a week. Super clean and quick and organized.
I would give this zero stars if I could. Worst experience ever. Please stop patronizing this place so it will be shut down like it should be. Seriously. I ordered yellow curry with no broccoli. Apparently they decided to load it up with so much broccoli that it turned my yellow curry green. I got it home and discovered what had been done and tossed it right in the trash. So gross. My wife's sweet and sour had zero flavor. How do you even do that? Never go here.
Decent cheeseburger! Ordered extra crispy fries But got the limp ones☹️
This place is awesome ! Staff is always super friendly and the food is always hot and delicious
Disgusting, I eat a lot of Thai food and I’m not even sure you could call this Thai.. Everything was soggy and didn’t taste good. It took them over an hour to prepare the food during a non busy time of the day. I’m not sure how this place stays in business.
I have ordered takeout and dined in at this restaurant many times and have never had a bad experience until today.
I ordered through Door Dash and requested NO SPICE, but when I started to eat the entree, I discovered it was VERY spicy. I was very disappointed.
If this hd been my first experience with the restaurant, I would give it only (1) star. Im giving it 3, because of my prior experience.
My 2nd time at restaurant today.I had half barbeque chicken with special rice which was delicious. Today I had spareribs which where very good as well. The place was very clean. The lady's working are very polite and and attentive and intelligent. All good experience for me.
The Pad Thai was underwhelming. Usually there's separate tastes in the dish, lime, peanut, fresh basil, etc. This had no distinct flavors. I ordered take out and thought I'd be told when it was ready, it sat pn the counter for about 5 minutes before I had to ask when my order would be ready. The hostess casually said it was right there.
The woman who works here is super rude
I've been going to this restaurant at least once a month for over a year now, its my neighborhood spot for a quick thai take out. As much as i like the Drunken Noodle, they are consistently inconsistent with their flavors. Two times ago it was COVERED in garlic, which is fine because i like garlic, but seriously covered. Tonight its lacking in flavor in general. Previous time or two the flavors were spot on. Ordering the same spice level on different nights can yield drastically differing results.
Not enough to keep me from strolling over to the closes thai food though. I'll report back after a few more drunken noodle dishes!
Not the first time I've been here and they got my order wrong. Won't be going back.
I hate to write a negative review on a local place that I love, but here goes
First off, I love the food and the young lady who is generally in the back is fantastic. However, the women who generally takes my order gets it wrong every time! I don’t mean sometimes, it’s every time. Again, I’m sorry to write this but it’s been so many times in a row. I still go back though, love the people and the food. Just please get our order right!
My fav place for Thai food
Good food lunch specials
Good food
Salad rolls, chicken satay, and pad thai were tasty. My meal partner ordered the beef lovers plate and was not impressed with the unseasoned beef and their version of a sauce. He ended up asking for extra peanut sauce to make it tolerable. The service was fast, and it came recommended by my roommates. Will probably go again, just won't order the beef.
Good food
The whole family loves this place. The kids and wife love the Thai ice tea. Our 10 year old loves shrimp in a blanket. My wife always gets pineapple fried rice, and I order the Chicken Pad Thai myself. The staff is very friendly and it is not overly busy during lunch which is nice. The salad rolls are also very good with their peanut sauce.
Delicious food great service
So basically its either hella spicy or no spicy... multiple times theyve just dumped chili pepper in my food. Would be nice if they just hired a American Native... lame having to slowly spell out my order and they still F it up.
WATCH YOUR WALLET....Food was good but they ripped me off on the bill. Used a debit card and they hit me for $6.70 more than I signed for when they charged my card. That's after I had given them a tip. Watch your wallet if you eat here. I suggest you leave a cash tip because they just might RIP you off like they did me.
Last night was the first time I experienced Original Thai BBQ. My wife ordered from one of the delivery services in pdx. Within 15 to 20 minutes it was on its way! When our order arrived everything smelled amazing!
We ordered the crab wontons and egg rolls for an appetizer. Usually I give quite a bit of leeway when it comes to getting fried food delivered to me. In this case, that wasn't necessary! The egg rolls were perfectly cooked and crispy without the taste of old oil, had very flavorful filling, and the homemade sweet chile sauce was a perfect accompaniment! The crab wontons has steamed a bit by the time they got here, so were a bit chewy. This was totally the fault of my lazyness in not wanting to go out anywhere! The filling was well balanced with all of the ingredients easily distinguishable from each other! The sweet chile sauce worked very well here as well!
Our entrees were the garlic pepper stir fry w/chicken, and the ginger stir fry w/pork. I personally find a lot of ginger meals to be too gingery. The amount of ginger used can quickly spiral out of control making the dish almost unpalatable unless your nose doesn't work. Not in this case! The ginger was very forward, but not in an overpowering way! The protein was plentiful, the veggies were cooked au point, which is a fancy French term meaning that they were cooked to the point of perfection. The garlic pepper stir fry had enough garlic to cause Dracula some discomfort, but was well within my garlic heavy palate's comfort zone. The steamed veggies were crisp and delicious! The portions of both entrees were large and the price of ten bucks is very consumer friendly, especially for the Porltand area!!
My wife and I will definitely be eating their food again, and I will recommend the Original Thai BBQ to any and all who ask!! Thanks guys!!
Very nice service and the food was on point. I had the yellow curry with chicken and it did not disappoint. Best Thai I've had in a long while. I live in Vancouver but I will be making the trip for this again!!
We've been here twice and both times have been great! Service is friendly and quick.
First time there, we had dinner. The second time was for lunch. Lunch portions were perfect. Food was very tasty! Service was quick even though it was busy.
Drunkin noodles win for the worst I have ever had. Noodles look like they were old and chipped out of a the tub. No flavor unless you chew the basil stems no joke. Cannot regret this choice enough.
Excellent lunch menu.
Unfortunately the place has really gone down hill since the new owners took over, the curry doesnt have much flavor, the place is dirty, service is slow, they have a cute little grandma taking orders now who is again so cute and nice but shes slow. Table service the last time I came and sat down to eat was bad when it was the Male helping us but there was a lady there that I took to be the boss/mom who seemed strict but was a delight.
Consistency in quality of food is lacking as well. Time before last when we got the Basil Fried Rice it was amazing, you could tell there was some curry powder on it and as soon as you opened the to go box you could smell and then see the spices on top. Delicious, this time it was bland and seemed to be no real spices used on it.
The crab fried rice is to die for! The yellow curry is pretty good as well. They have options for spiciness. They are available on Door Dash. Wish the delivery fee wasnt so high. Despite that fee, we still order often at work. The Thai tea is good but sweetness is inconsistent as they eyeball the amount of sweet milk, its intolerable of too sweet. The parking in this lot is not optimal at all.
Decent lunch spot
Chicken satay was excellent. Pad thai was slightly better than average, a bit bland.
My fave Thai food ever. Love the curry, best I've ever had
It was ok...fresh but nothing special.
Arguably one of the best Thai places in the city, family owned and operated. Pad kee mow is super good, so is the massuma curry. Appetizers always come out fast, hot, and delicious. Peanut sauce is amazing. Amazing dining experience all around. Don't forget to tip your server!
I love the spring rolls. The service there is great!
Good-sized portions and wonderful service! :) Tasty too!
So tasty!
Good food.....
Food is good.
Tom yum soup!!!! So good!!!
It was very good and seems very popular with the people that work around there which is a great sign. I tried to get coconut ice cream to go. They told me they were out of it but I suspect they had nothing to put it in for a to-go order. I will order that first next time
It was nice, middle of the road Thai food. Not mind-blowing, but not terrible.
Fair portion and fair price
Tasty. Service was fast but the server was very unfriendly.
Good tomyam soup
Bad service.. it was my first time trying their food and I was really disappointed. They took a very long time to give me the food I ordered to go and when I began to eat it my rice was very cold. I had to microwave my food as soon as I got home (3 min drive btw) which is ridiculous! I will not be returning to this restaurant again and will not recommend to friends. Sorry .
Also, for $14 I expected more then 1 scoop of cold fried rice, THREE PIECES OF BROCCOLI, and watery peanut sauce. Overpriced...
Usually get to-go orders from here, be patient when they get busy it can take a while, but worth the wait!
One of the best Pad Thai I ever had. The Thai Ice Tea is a must! #tasty
Great Thai food
Very nice food and friendly service. Our 1 1/2 year old granddaughter was with us and enjoyed herself as well
Nice
Killed a roach with my napkin as soon as we sat down, should have left. Told management and they didn't even respond to me about it. Food isn't very expensive and it's still not worth the price. Service was horrible. Had to get up and ask for service 3 different times. Never coming back.
The drunken noodles are so very good. Lots of flavor and if you want the spice they have it. Also the salad rolls are deliciously paired with the peanut sauce. Mmmm peanut sauce :0
Really good vegan Thai. Nice staff, fair prices.
I ordered a 4 on the spice level and it had some decent flavorful spice to it. I liked it and enjoyed it. Will most likely come back.
I have tried many things on the menu, all delicious.
Great food and warm welcomes. My only concern would be that the Thai spicy scale of 1-4 seems a little weak, but maybe that's just me.
The food is always consistent and very good. My son won't eat Pad Thai anywhere else. I have to say I agree with him. The mango with sweet sticky rice is amazing!
Been going there for 10 years every is good.
Especially the Pad Thai. I know both of the previous and the new owner.
Excellent tom yum and tom kha! Sadly, the curries and stir fry's aren't what they used to be years ago.
I have NEVER had better Chicken Pad Thai in my life. Definitely recommend this place if you love chicken pad thai!!!
Delicious good. My fav!!!!!!
Great food.
I've eaten here a few times. I don't know Thai food very well, so I always order the same thing, Cashew something. It is always good, and not expensive.
The food was so authentic and rich with flavor! Absolutely a must-try for thai food if you're in the area. I only wish the proportions were a bit larger for the amount you pay due to other restaurants in PDX giving larger portions for the same price.
I've eaten here many times. Best cashew chicken I've ever had!
I watched them microwave everything 🤢😵 ordered a chicken vegetable stirfry, fiancee got the short ribs. Everything was luke warm, bland, and the shrimp was tougher that the rubber on my shoes. Absolutely disgusting.
Shimp tasted old, and the shimp tails were still on even when in pad thai. Crab ragoon wasnt fresh, probably frozen before. The staff was nice but it wasnt enough to go back.
Good food good prices. BUT found a hair in my food. Such a waste when you can’t even eat what you pay for.
Great food, reasonable prices and great service!
