BYOB serving traditional Thai fare, with adjustable spice levels, & sushi in a warm space.
We as a group of four went for my sister’s birthday dinner due to the reviews on vegetarian options. It did not disappoint. We got several dishes including some sushi rolls, tofu pad thai, tofu red curry and salmon in green curry. They all tasted delicious. Our favourite was the tofu red curry. Pad Thai noodles were not what we expected - thin and a bit too sweet but we still ate it all up. Service was fast and professional. Overall, we enjoyed the food and would definitely go back.
This little Thai restaurant packs a punch! Such a cute little gem tucked away near Mount Lookout Square. The authentic flavors and variety found on their large menu are outstanding. From rice & noodle dishes to soups and sushi, you're bound to find something you'll truly love. Lots of vegetarian options too and a 1-4 spice level on all entrees. What an impressive place that's been open for almost 23 years. Wow, first-timer and looking forward to my next visit! Delicious and amazing Thai food all around.
Very very very good food. Went a little crazy and got a bit of everything. The Golden sheets were crispy and piping hot. The hot and sour soup had a flavor I've never had before, just a touch of sweetness and it was amazing. The summer rolls were fresh with crisp veggies and the peanut sauce for dipping was perfection. My pad thai had amazing spice! My friend enjoyed both her wonton soup and fried wontons which both also came out piping hot. Their lunch menu prices are fantastic with large portions. $46 for everything pictured!
Great authentic Thai food. I had the red curry without the coconut milk and it was fantastic. Service is good and very polite. The place is small but very comfortable with one section for traditional seating. Brown or Jasmine rice are standard and do not cost extra, something most Asian restaurants do not offer, or charge extra for them. That is a huge plus for me. My wife had the stir fried pineapple with chicken and it was great. Prices are reasonable. I highly recommend this place to satisfy your Thai food cravings.
Chose this place randomly and was sceptical before entering. But to our surprise it turned out pretty good! Little bigger than a hole in the wall with exceptional interior which gives a cozy atmosphere. Sushi was the best item that we ordered. Very balanced sushi taste and you would feel like eating one after the other. We ordered shrimp tempura, but the amount of tempura was very less. I would come again at least for their sushi! Red curry was not overwhelming with coconut milk and tasted good. They did not charge for extra rice. Pineapple fried rice and noodle items also taste really good. Their spice level is 1-4. We ordered 4 and it was not mouth burning spicy but still spicy. The thai bubble tea helped to cool down the spice. I have had better than what I ate here but this restaurant is pretty decent and very balanced with taste:price:portion. Their restaurant was not dirty and staff were helpful. Street coin parking.
Best Thai food in Cincy! I’ve been searching for good Thai food for so long and finally got to try this! Basil duck is highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️:The duck meat was so tender, juicy and flavorful!!! Soft crab green curry is also a perfect dish for seafood lover ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: watch out! This is probably the only restaurant you can get crab in curry so don’t miss it! Will come back very soon!!!
Great place for Thai food, we chose the place due to its high rating, and it is well deserved. Friendly helpful staff and an authentic homey feel they even have traditional tables/seats. the crab ragoons are solid 8/10, chicken fried rice is good 7/10 the kids liked it too, the crispy padthai is very interesting it has a strong peanut flavor compared to other padthais I've had 8/10. I got the Emerald curray w/chicken and it is great 9/10 I've never had it before but to describe the sauce it is sweet the first second then savory through out and ends with a rising heat. Will go again to try other items

Food was fine but forgettable. I have had better
I hate leaving negative reviews but I'm 100% sure I got food poisoning from my meal here. As other reviews said the bathroom was absolutely atrocious and the menu looked beat up and stained in who knows what. The food was OK- it wasn't gross or anything but considering how musty this place was and the fact that it most likely made me sick probably says something...
Great place, plus bring your own wine or beer.
.....This is a wonderful little mom and pop restaurant....it's not the Ritz but it is very good Thai ....it is worth a stop and see...I love the place but I love Independent restaurants...so I am biased...stop order and you might just find it's worth your time....Thanks guys
MENUS WERE SO CLEAN
This is THE BEST Thai food I've ever had in my life and I've tried everything in the tri-state area. The owners and employees are all friendly, sweet, honest, and REAL. Everything is authentic and delicious (we've tried almost everything on the menu). NOTHING comes close to this. My boyfriend and I go up to 4 times a week and we crave it in between. Our favorites are the chicken pad thai, spicy thai curry, chicken ginger root dish, the salad with the best dressing I've ever had in my entire life, and the freshest sushi and seaweed salad in all the land. Everything is amazing. Cozy, inviting, authentic Thai atmosphere. I'll never settle for anything else!
The pad thai was delicious, the sushi tasted fresh and had nice presentation, and I could have eaten another order of the veggie spring rolls by myself. Best of all, the food was at a reasonable price!
Whenever I don't know what I want to get - this is the place I end up going. Always consistently great food, and they've never gotten any of my 50+ total orders wrong. Support small businesses!
Stopped by for dinner. We got summer rolls and pad Thai. Both were great! The pad Thai had more sauce than usual and the portion was large.
Aggressive wait staff. Rude. Food was OK, nothing to go out of my way for.
Best pad Thai in town. Love this place. It's my favorite Thai in town. Great pricing. Great flavor. Great service. What's not to love. I go weekly.
Free street parking a block from the place. Don't let parking scare you. It never been a problem.
Excellent Thai food and sushi. BYOB but no corkage fee!
One of my favorite places in town. Low key and casual atmosphere. Everything I’ve had from here is 10/10!
So many options to choose from, reasonably priced, and BYOB. Can't be beat!
Best Pad Thai in Cincinnati hand down! Probably
The best I’ve ever had in the states! Super cool atmosphere and very understanding with kiddos!
By far the best Thai food in Cincinnati. Every dish I have tried has been outstanding and the consistency appears to be very good. Casual, laid back setting with a relaxing and pleasant ambience. Highly recommend.

Love this place! There’s something for everyone here and the service is amazing.
A cozy, laid back restaurant with incredible flavor and personality. We sat at the low tables where you sit cross-legged and eat. We started with soup, and my hot and sour soup tasted like authentic tamarind was used. My wife had the coconut shrimp soup, which was delectably seasoned and sweet. Our entrees were amazing! The grilled salmon in green curry was delicious, just the right amount of spiciness, and the salmon was perfectly cooked. The yellow curry with duck was sweet, tangy, and flavorful. In a stroke of genius, the yellow curry had pineapple in it! The duck was crispy, delicious, and plentiful.
Overall, a great place for casual, fair priced food.
tasty food! lots of veg options. spice level is good.
We went for lunch. Family run. Nothing to write home about. Not mu h to complai. About either. Ordinary.
Great curries, my favorite is the shrimp curry mild spice
Highly recommend the crispy duck!
I have no idea why this restaurant receives such good reviews. The curtain to the utility room where the bathroom is situated hasn't been washed or cleaned since WWII. The bathroom door needs a signficant cleaning. The food is lack luster and in fact looked like the noodles dish had been leftovers. The sushi bar has not been cleaned in weeks. The windows and doors need a really thorough cleaning. The bathroom would make you want to rush screaming into the street. The floor at the entrance has not been vacuumed for a few days. I was served a Thai Tea without a straw. I was told they did not have time to get straws. I has to stir the tea with my knife...REALLY!!! I cannot believe this place is still in business. The waitress was the only redeeming criteria. She was sensitive to our allergies. We has two main dishes and veggie roles for over $40. I would never go here again.
Great food. Can be spicy if you go for top level spice. Be warned. Friendly staff and they will make sure to warn you of the spice too.
Never a disappointment.

Incredible food, service, and prices. This place has the best pad thai I've ever had and excellent green curry as well. Definitely looking forward to coming back.
Delicious sushi and pleasant ambiance!
Ruthais is the most authentic Thai in the city. Family owned and operated, super consistent preparations, and excellent service. BYOB from UDF. The perfect evening.
Very fresh sushi, the Thai curries were also very good
Listen to me. You need to eat here. I haven't eaten at Ruthai since pre pandemic. Mostly because I prefer dine in and I live pretty far away so take out is usually cold by the time I get home. I happened to be in the area and saw they were open again for dine in, they had been closed for almost 2 years for dine in and doing carry out only, and I cried tears of joy. I cried, real tears! I've been coming here since 2010 and can easily say I've never had a bad meal. This place is a cincy gem and is by far the best Thai food around!
Everything we got was sooooo good. Great atmosphere and even better food. Crab ragoons, pot stickers, tiger roll, pineapple fried rice and spicy fish were all incredible!
Check this place out! It's easy to miss, but my friend and I had dinner there recently and can't wait to go back. The interior is very cozy and welcoming. The service was attentive and kind. The food was absolutely great. I had pad wood sen and now I'm in love with mung noodles. My friend got wonton soup and said it had the silkiest noodles she'd ever had. The portions were large enough to pack leftovers, and our bill was not expensive at all. There's also a huge menu, and lots of vegetarian options (and they know how to rock that tofu!) Highly recommend, I look forward to being a long time repeat customer.
Very nice atmosphere. The food was phenomenal and the service awesome. There are some standard tables and then a row of traditional Thai tables. It can be crowded at times so make sure you plan ahead if you have a certain date or time in mind and the place is cozy. Biggest issue is finding parking in Mt. Lookout. Be prepared to walk but it’s 100% worth it.
Girlfriends and I walked past here on our way to a concert at the Redmoor and said why not!
Honestly the BEST Sushi I’ve had! We also had Crab Rangoons and I had the Mushroom Hot and Sour soup. SO GOOD!! We loved this little restaurant. The staff was lovely! I will definitely be back to try more on the menu!
Decent food for decent price.
Fresh and spicy.
Loved this place. Rangoon's were top notch. Had the red curry with chicken and a pork fried rice Togo. Absolutely wonderful.
Fantastic chicken pad Thai!! Level 2 spicy for the win!
My favorite Thai restaurant! Love it
my favorite!
Fast and tasty
We ordered papaya salad, basil noodles and their signature fried rice ….Wow. Each dish I would order again like, tomorrow. Can’t wait to try more!
Excellent food. I love the crab Rangoon. Hot and sour soup is both. The summer roll is fantastic. The prices are good especially for Mt lookout, Hyde Park. No shrimp in soup, just order mushroom.
Favorite spot to get Thai cuisine in the city :) Always friendly staff and delicious food. Every item we have gotten has been delicious. Especially the Pad Thai !!
Ruthai’s is a hidden Cincy gem! Some of our favorites are their basil noodles, panang curry, and duck!
I order their pad thai once a week. I love it.
Never disappoint always good.....
was not open for dine in - even though the website says it was. Wasn't a big deal since we just ordered take out! Pretty good food!
Our go to takeout Thai. I could eat this every day.
Great food! I really enjoyed the vegetable stir fry and salmon skin sushi. Thanks!
Some of the best pad Thai in the city!
Absolutely best Thai food ever! Asked for veggie sashimi for my 10 year old and she loved it! Can't wait to return to Cincinnati to try more of what's on the menu! Love this place!
Best panang curry I've had in Cincinnati.
Highly recommend the Panang chicken and Tom Yum soup.
Always good, I love the basil duck the most
Our favorite place in Cincy! Great veggie options, and our go-to takeout or date night meal. Highly recommend the panang curry with tofu and the garlic green beans.
This is our go to thai place. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could
Can’t go wrong here! We love them so much. Only downfall is that they aren’t open on Mondays and recently I learned they aren’t open on Tuesdays too. This is why I wouldn’t give them a full time 5star!
My honest review of the place even though i gave them 5 stars:
I drive past here allllll the time and have for years. I've never stopped. Today i decided it was time!
I was Super pumped to try the peanut sauce, summer rolls, and something with some spice. And really really wanted to love it here, because they seem to be established and local owned.
Authenticity and diversity of menu items are really what keep this place going.
Food quality is good.
Portion sizes are smaller, and even the small rice container showed up liiiiiike half full.
Flavor is just okay.
Very mild flavor and spices, spice level never showed up to the dinner party unfortunately. I get that everyone has different understandings of heat factor. But when i say none.. zilch. And i really went for it. Oh well.
I grew up in Cincinnati. This place by far has the best pad thai in the city.
I love this restaurant! Try the chicken satay as as an appetizer and the pineapple fried rice
Good food, beautiful ambience.
Delicious , and great heat/spice levels..only get a 4 if you're brave enough and truly love spice! - I will definitely come back!
Authentic Thai roots, American enough menu to appeal to the local demographic. Reasonable prices and great flavor!
This is a regular spot my wife and I find ourselves returning to over and over again. The food and service is excellent.
Fantastic restaurant from top to bottom. This is THE place to come for Thai in Cincinnati.
Fairly good food, cozy setup and very fast/friendly service.
Best Thai I've had in Cincinnati. Haven't tried the sushi yet, because I keep coming back for the Thai dishes.
Great place to have dinner, everything is delicious and healthy
Excellent as always!
I love this place. Parking can be tricky
Emerald Curry was perfect. Sushi was great. Quick and delicious
In 2008, I used to live in Cincinnati. My family would often frequent Ruthai's Thai Kitchen on birthdays, anniversaries, or to celebrate any academic achievement amongst my sisters. Now, over a decade has passed and we hold the same traditions. We left Cincinnati in 2009, however we often drive to Cincinnati with the only plan in mind to eat at Ruthai's. Their food is always fresh and delicious. In our 11 years (almost 12!) of eating at Ruthai's, never have we ever been dissatisfied with the quality of the food nor the helpfulness of the staff. Thank you Ruthai's Thai Kitchen :)
Fast service good food
Very nice place with good food. I ordered shrimp tempura sushi, red curry and bubble tea. Bubble tea was not that great but food was really good.
Good like always
Went there today the food and service was awesome a great restaurant to enjoy lunch or dinner with family
This place is a little hole in the wall with some of the best food!
Excellent food, love the selection, though we always get red curry. Sushiyasan seemed really talented, I got just simple inari, but saw the other tables order elaborate sushi, looked very nice. Friendly, helpful waitress. Like the kneeling tables, look fun. A little cramped for wheelchair users (hubby uses one), but it was accessible at one table and thankfully that table was open.
This is my favorite Thai place in Cincinnati.
Awesome curry and gyoza. Get the 2 spicy if you like spicy food. 3 spicy is tooooo spicy.
I usually always order the mango fried rice and the mango bubble smoothie. They are always delicious!
Great food. Interior could use a good cleaning.
Very tasty and big portions of pad thai.
Delicious curry! My friends and I shared the emerald curry with squid and the mango chicken and shrimp curry. Absolutely delicious! Intimate setting
It's the best this food I have had in Ohio till date!!!
Best Pad Thai in the universe. Challenge that, I dare you.
Great service and delicious food!
Great food, great price, and friendly staff! Eat in and enjoy the option to sit at a table or in the floor with a low profile table. They also offer BYOB for dine in guests. Don't worry they have plenty of vegan options to choose from and can have a take out order ready super fast.
Great food, great people
Chose this place randomly and was sceptical before entering. But to our surprise it turned out pretty good! Great!!!!
I love the cooking at Ru Thai. It's a little place with a byob bar. The wait staff and kitchen staff are family. Very cozy and quite pleasant.
This place was lovely! A little hole in the wall, normal seating, but also a section of short tables with cushions on the (elevated) floor, which we chose. It made for a more unique experience, and we loved it (especially with the infant carrier and 2yr old). The sushi was delicious, the campfire roll (with flames) was fun and tasty. It was really great.
Great food and fast service!
Great Thai food
Small and cozy with great food and sushi. A great place to have a satisfying meal after work on a weeknight or on the weekend
Great food and a fun option to sit at standard table and chairs or on floor pillows with a low table. They also offer BYOB for dine-in guests.
Great sushi. Just went for lunch. He's got a $10 lunch box with 2 sushi rolls, egg roll, salad and soup.
Delicious. The rainbow rolls and fancier sushi is really awesome.
Great sushi at reasonable prices, and just the right amount of service!
Great pad thai and fried rice. Seriously hot spices.
Must try! I am in love! The taste is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!
Excellent.
Phenomenal! Favorite Thai restaurant in Cincinnati.
The most appreciable feature of Ruthai is their customer service and amazing hospitality. The food is delicious and fresh as well.Ruthai is one of my favorite Thai restaurants around Cincinnati area.
Amazing Thai food. Plus you can sit at these cool little tables on pillows on the ground. I'm not sure if that's authentic or not, but it sure feels that way.
Love this place, great food every time
Love this place. The food is always incredibly delicious, unique, and very satisfying. The atmoshpere is great too with a quant, casual, and authentic feeling. I would highly recommend.
Great entrees and a fantastic sushi bar
Really well priced and delicious. The food is always fresh and the Thai iced tea is always a favorite. They have traditional floor seating if you would like as well!
Best Thai restaurant in Cincinnati.
