Relaxed option for traditional Thai fare & imported groceries in a modest, no-frills space.
My recent dining adventure was truly a mixed bag. The chicken satay itself was quite delightful, but the peanut sauce veered unexpectedly into spicy territory, leaving little room for the nutty flavors I was looking forward to. The Khanom Jeen was another story; its overly diluted broth made the dish feel more like a bowl of watered-down pasta rather than the sumptuous rice noodles I had anticipated.
There was a slight hiccup when one of my friends didn't receive the green curry they asked for, but a red curry instead. It was merely passable, lacking any standout qualities. Another friend's choice of sweet and sour shrimp also missed the mark, offering a bland taste that fell short of expectations.
On a positive note, the service provided a glimmer of hope amidst these culinary missteps. Our waitress was commendably managing both the restaurant and supermarket sections single-handedly, a feat that deserved recognition. Even though we had to signal for her attention a few times, it was clear she was doing her best under the circumstances, and her effort was genuinely appreciated.
An interesting twist to the experience was the bubble tea presentation. When ordered for dine-in, the bubble tea was served in a wine glass, which added a touch of elegance to the experience. However, I couldn't help but notice that the to-go portion was significantly more generous, offering double the amount for the same price. This peculiar inconsistency was a surprising discovery, adding a unique aspect to our dining experience.
I usually don’t write bad reviews but I couldn’t let this one go. The food was very underwhelming. I remember it being better in 2022 when I lived in Minot. I was excited to revisit and try the food but it was bad. The spice level was non existent and the web ordering system was not helpful. It never gives you an option for meats so the restaurant assumes that you want it vegetarian. This is a known issue to them (I confirmed this when I called) but they never made the effort to confirm the order. $15 for a mediocre vegetarian meal is not worth it. We will not be returning.
This is by far the most delicious and most flavourful food in all minot. I am from Puerto Rico, and WE DO have high standards for food. I had the opportunity to try out and review food from places where I lived and visit within the US and overseas like Mississippi, New York, Delaware, Texas, New Jersey, South Dakota, Philadelphia,Virginia, South Korea, Mexico and more and this place DID NOT disappointed me. 10/10.
I lived in Minot a year ago now and I think about this place and their spring rolls once a month. I loved this place so much I made sure the LAST thing I did in that city was eat here. I've yet to find anywhere as good their chicken katsu and spring rolls were. I'm currently laying on my couch, craving THIS specific restaurant a year later and mourning the fact they're 17 hours away.
A long-standing Minot fixture; restaurant cum Thai grocery store. Serves good food at relatively reasonable prices. Service is unassuming and good…clean dining area and service items. Watch out for spice levels, however; “spicy” can blow your lid off. A welcome respite from traditional fare in the area. Support a local family business!
A pleasant surprise, tucked away on a side street - if your Google maps is telling you to access from the highway, don't believe it! Travel down 20th ave SW, turning south on 10th st SW; you'll find it on the right, at the end of the little road. Ample parking is available.
We ordered the Thai style Bibimbap, and Khao Soi. Bibimbap (picture added) is a wonderful choice for anyone who is new to thai cuisine - a simple rice dish with protein (chicken in my case) and veggies, topped with a fried egg and served in a clay pot. It is "medium" spicy, definitely present but not overwhelming. Be sure to mix everything up together, and get the crispy rice at the bottom of the pot - it's the best part!
The Khao soi was flavourful and filling, a hint of spice, but not too strong. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the fried egg noodles on top added the perfect crunch.
After enjoying a wonderful meal, take a look through the small Asian market - many great ingredients, especially if you're now looking to learn how to make your new favourite dish at home.
We have had food services here for years as well as purchasing some of the basic groceries that we need for our shelves. Looking for foreign type foods . The food is made fresh and it's excellent. Prices are right on not gouging at all
Delicious food and great selection in the market
Some stuff is very tasty and fresh, some stuff is just way too spicy for me.

Exceptionally good food! It's a little bit more expensive than a lot of places but you are very full by the end of the meal and like I said the food is great!

Loved this little Thai restaurant and grocery store. It's bright and airy. Food was delicious and would definitely go back.
Great Thai food!
Very chill atmosphere. Bright colors. Small seating area but I was lucky enough to try it out when they weren't super busy. Delicious food! Hopefully I will remember to take a picture BEFORE I eat it all next time! Definitely check out this hidden Minot gem.
Young male worker was very rude
I normally like them but I said no heat, the food was for kids, and it’s like they tripled the spice so we could barely eat it and wasted the money!!!
One of my favorite food choices.
Delicious food! One of my favorite restaurants in Minot. I love that I can get good food, great service and can shop their market after eating.
My personal favorite place to get food in Minot! Love the food, love the little market, love Baan Rao!
This is our go to place for a Thai, the food is always fresh and full of flavour. Had the yellow curry tonight with some rice, it was sooo good, hit the spot ☺️
Excellent cashew chicken, ordered extra spicy.. Be careful if you order "Thai Hot" ... it isn't for the faint of heart.
My son's favorite is Laab.
Small portion way too spicy, vegetables were described with the dish and only got green beans.menu showed $15 charge and was $18.How does this restaurant hope to stay in business if it misleads its customers and serves below average food?? NOT recommended.Be honest serve quality and maybe you'll be successful!
We ordered tofu pad thai, tofu drunken noodles, and Pad Si-iew with chicken for takeout. All were extremely greasy and had absolutely no flavor. Disappointing use of $60.
They greet you with a bad face and a bad attitude, if you have children, don't take them, they are not well received.
Food was great
Clean, friendly, and delicious. The oolong tea was premiere.

If I could leave a zero I would I ordered the garlic chicken it was dry veggies were hard the food was cold sever was rude and overpriced
Food was terrible, very salty and cold was not worth the money, server was horrible didn't even offer refills
Excellent service atmosphere and the food was on point, very authentic!!! We also purchased a lot of groceries from their grocery section and they were reasonably priced!
Best Service, fast lunch service, relaxing atmosphere, delicious food!
I love there food it was pretty good rice was a bit dry but overall amazing the place is pretty welcoming and amazing service just very quiet I wish they had music playing
Very clean, staff is quick to attend to you, take out food ready within 20 minutes, good greeting to customers and the atmosphere is just welcoming
Always great!

This used to be my favorite place to eat thai! Our food was a bit salty, greasy, and bland. The veggies were not good. The beef was very chewy. The curry was just okay. The thai hot dish was medium at best. Not sure if there is a different cook or whats happening, but this was not the usual experience at Baan Rao. Disappointing.
Such a quaint little place. It’s very clean and the food is great. I had the tom kha and spring rolls. Both were great. I’d come again and try something else for sure!

First time eating here. Food was great. Didn't try anything to spicy because didn't know how spiced up it would be. Little surprised. Could have had little more kick. Will try that next time
Good food, good service.
Great Thai food!
Taste like frozen food
The Noodle Soup is always hit or miss. Sometimes it's the best I've ever had.. Sometimes it's very VERY bland. With the prices raised so much it's almost not worth the gamble anymore. I Love the spring rolls. But the prices are to high now in my opinion for so little.
Food was amazing. Definitely will go back again. Service was excellent
One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The staff are unbelievably kind and welcoming. I have been there upwards of 10 times and not once have I ever had a bad meal.
very very good! I ordered the chicken pad thai- medium heat. whoa! they delivered it. with a slice of lemon and chopped peanuts. yum! very very happy with my food. they sell Korean and Thai food staples. I am so happy I found Gochujang paste. very clean and friendly staff. they have a sit down restaurant or pick up orders. I highly recommend. will be trying the panang curry next.
Getting here using Google maps is an adventure. It wanted me to stop on the shoulder of the highway and then walk across the grass to the restaurant
An interesting find; essentially a mart with a restaurant tagged on or a restaurant with a mart tagged on. Either way pretty cool.
The staff are very friendly. The service was just right And the food was excellent. Would certainly recommend
Still my favorite Thai food place, and the store part is pretty cool too.
The pad ki maw drunken noodles with beef was fantastic and all the food was Hilal.
Great food, great service, peaceful setting
Food is great but I keep asking for spicy and Thai spicy and it comes absolutely bland when I order through DoorDash hopefully it changes or they actually make it spicy in person but due to my work I’m not able to go in
Its ok they don't serve much that I would eat
Good sized portions and food was perfect. Had the pad Thai and yellow curry and both were very authentic
Wow, is the word. You can't go wrong. Did you know it had a market too? That's really awesome. It isn't as large as the one is Bismark, but who cares food is awesome. Sitting down or dine out, have all been great. Especially some of the regional dushes offered, things never heard of, Kua Gink is dang good, add heat then breathe fire.
In the Minot area, this place could be #1 but it's my number 2, a very strong #2, nothing to shy away from. Could easily be number 1, actually my top two are distance themselves from others.
Baan Rao gives you calm and flavors with old world tastes, not too sweet but the sour is there, along with items that will surprise you.
We always come here to buy asian stuff, sometimes they have the items we need, and most of the time, they don't.
Chicken pad Thai noodles were really good!
Sugar on everything. If you're diabetic avoid this place. If not then enjoy some sweet delicious food

Great food. Very fresh and tasty. Summer rolls were great Thai tea awesome. My meal was perfect. I'd give 10 stars if I could.
Nice place and mini market, with menu options you can't find anywhere else nearby.
What a lovely establishment. I enjoyed supper here after a long drive, followed by my kid’s sporting activity at the high school. I loved the atmosphere. And the waitress helped me select a fund appetizer and a Thai dish- both were wonderful. I topped off my evening with a stroll through the mini market where I purchased goodies for the family. They were thrilled to try some ethnic treats.
Clean, quite environmental. Fast service, tasty food. Would leave higher star if I could.
Great atmosphere, clean, quiet, extremely fast service. 10/10 experience
Rude customer service, the young lady there don’t forgot to put something on the order and made me wait until she attended all the other customers (15 min) to complete it (was just a packet of hot sauce)
The food can be really good sometimes and not so good other times. Consistency is not there long suit. Plan on waiting a long time for your food because it isn't prepared until you order it. This is a good thing. You are assured nothing is sitting around too long.
So good. Minot has an unexpectedly great Thai food scene.
Excellent service and food!
They are soo rude and apparently will not take your order if you are 1. Lactose intolerant 2. What fried instead of sticky rice mind you the order option from door dash said spicy fried rice but then when I get the food it’s cooked white rice with red sauce which is such a scam like if I pay for fried rice give me fried rice not what ever rice you feel like making. My 3. Request was to make it spicy I like Thai food bespicy but what I noticed was if your name counted too foreign they won’t make it spicy so I ask for spicy food and they canceled my order and told me not to order from them against that’s crazy
My order request btw
Please add boba black pearl also no ice I am lactose intolerant please use a different milk base thanks and for the rice please make it spicy also make it fried rice I really want fried rice please
I got the Kua Gink and it was really delicious. It was very spicy but I loved it. The service was excellent as well.
Good food great service
The serving staff and kitchen staff are super awesome and "extremely" nice, always!! You'll find dishes here that rival the best sushi restaurants in the known and un-known world and they don't even specialize in sushi!! !!!^_^!!! The atmosphere is Exquisite and they even get experimental with the interior design. Superiority on all counts!! !!!-_-!!!
Did not care for choices we made for dinner. And we had heard such good things about the food too.
This is a good change from the average restaurant in Minot, but the food lacks more flavor and the noodles were undercooked on my Pad Thai. If you like to by Asian food supplies, this restaurant has a small store you can explore. I would recommend the spring roles, they are very good.
Good food.
Good service. Food just alright.
I was in Minot to visit my girlfriend when she suggested this restaurant and it was so good we ended up eating there multiple times over my week stay. I ate the yellow curry with chicken as well as the Thai Tea we also bought a few sodas from the store and they tasted good as well.
The laab is always amazing
One of the best pad thai I ever had. Food was fresh and delicious. Best food I had in Minot, so far. Highly recommended!
Great food and very welcoming service.
Had a great meal, will be going back
Delicious food, great atmosphere and wonderfully kind service!
Halal restaurant.
Halal restaurant.
We arrived a couple minutes before opening and were greeted and sat happily and quickly! The Massaman Curry was absolutely delicious. It warmed my soul! My husband got Pad See Ew and said it was the best he’s ever had. The shop side of the restaurant is also full of yummy snacks.
What a hidden treasure! Had a fabulous meal with some of the most flavorful food I've ever experienced! The woman who sat us and waited on us was very kind and helpful when choosing what to order. I enjoyed a nice hot jasmine tea, and my boyfriend had an iced Thai tea. We ordered the summer rolls which we would absolutely recommend! We also enjoyed the green curry with chicken, and the pad si-iew with chicken. We enjoyed browsing the grocery section as well, which offered a lot of variety of teas, sauces, noodles, vegetables, meats, and more!
Great food, nice store
Nice service and the food was ok, but it also gave me food poisoning.
The food awesome and the service was fantastic. Great experience.
Got served tap water, food was drowning in a pond of grease/juices. Chicken sate was good though. Service is alright.
Best Thai in the Magic City!
We had a nice time and great meals. There were several other tables occupied and the pick-up business is busy. In past years I would be the only one in the place. Minot has now found this gem of a restaurant. The grocery store has a steady stream of customers.
Great 👌 food
Unfortunate you can't get the Thai iced tea with coconut milk instead of regular milk here. Ate at lots of Thai places and every other one was able to accommodate this. Food was good but not super traditional. The Thai spice is also more like a 3 star, I expect to be sweating eating Thai spice and twice this week (visiting Minot) neither time came close. Second time eating here there was gross stuff and a hair floating in my water. Overall it was fine and I would eat there again.
They need to have more products in their market
I like the dumplings and summer rolls the bamee gai noodles were awesome great place to eat something different service was a little slow but I can wait for a good meal the waiter was a pretty friendly guy
New location. Same great food.
Super good food! Very surprised to find suck great Thai food here. Nice atmosphere and there’s a small grocery store here too. Service was fast! Food was piping hot! Impressive!
Summer Rolls & Chicken appetizer very fresh and delicious.
Food was delicious as always. First time doing pick up so now I know I have a little time to play with. The Thai Ice Tea is my favorite.
This was my first time coming to this place. It had all I needed for what I was going to cook. Very clean very nice staff.
We were the first customers when they opened at noon. We were they last customers served at 1:30 because the chef, "skip over your order" according to the server.
Not impressed. I ordered the Stir-Fried Beef. Thank the lord I don't have to speak to write this review otherwise I'd still be chewing. The beef was quite tough. It also said it was supposed to have yuchoy in it, but instead it's served with just regular broccoli and carrots. Overall it was pretty bland. I paid twelve bucks for that.
Very sweet service and the food is delicious.
Good food! 🥘
Enjoyed the meal. The food was very but not HOT temperature wise. The service was good but the greeter/waiter wore wireless headphones the whole time. Food came out promptly, great flavor. A little pricey but I've found everything here in Minot is a little higher. Would recommend going.
Very clean with great tables for groups. Extremely friendly and accommodating. Liked their take on the spring rolls.
Great food and amazing costumers service
So far, the best Thai resto in Minot. If you’ve been to Thailand and want the legit Thai spice then make sure you explicitly mention it (delivery, dine-in, or takeout). Their drinks are great too but overpriced. Servings are plenty so sharing is doable. They have a mart too for a lot of other Asian (mostly East and Southeast) spices.
They have awesome lunch specials until 2 pm everyday and the prices are very fair otherwise. I love the little market they have as well!
Finally got some take out from Baan Rao. The portion is healthy and the food was delicious! Probably the best pad Thai in the area.
The restaurant is really clean and service was quick.

Baan Rao mini market review only.
I have not tried their restaurant.
Their selection is not the greatest but it’s probably the best if not only Asian market in the area.
They have popular Asian sauces and other items.
Naturally the prices are higher for the produce and such. You may look at the receipt for price to get an idea.
Enoki - $3.20 I can usually get this for $1.99 but we’re in minot
Bokchoy - $9 for 2 bags I think. It’s kind of expensive but if you want something Asian they might have it on hand and they are pretty fresh unless you go after awhile their shipment came in.
Specialty ramen if they have it is around $2
You can call them to see if they have certain items. I usually go on the weekends and I never know what they would have. Kind of a gamble but I just make my menu around what they have.
I liked their radish kimchi in a jar but I got a really sour one the 2nd time I got it so I’m going to pass on it.
The ladies are super nice when you check out.
The service is terrible. You have to call multiple times before someone picks up the phone. I have both eaten in and ordered pick up. Eating in, they hardly ever come to your table to refill drinks. Pick up, they never answer their phones the first time you call. The employees are not very social or friendly. The food is decent which sucks because I hate to give my business to someone with awful service.
Pad king was ok, have had much better. The golden bags were good, way bigger than I thought they would be. Thai tea was ok, mostly tasted like milk and sugar, I prefer a bit stronger taste to the tea, but that's just my preference. Service was great.
Great food and service.
Definitely a hidden gem here in minot
Worst Thai food I ever had. Ordered red curry. It literally tasted like they mixed it with water! Zero flavor. Zero spice. I’m guessing this place is not authentic thai. Really disappointed as I was craving spicy food all day.
Best authentic Asian restaurant in town. They also have great curry paste, rice and tons of noodles!
Normally excellent service and food. Today however with my doordash delivery you forgot the rice. I repeatedly called you to get this remedied but could get no-one to answer the phone. This is a real annoying, but, again this is the first poor service I ever had with you.
The only place I've found within 70 miles that has Chinese Dumpling / Pot Sticker wraps. Very clean and orderly. Want to try the restaurant soon.
Great food and friendly staff. We will definitely eat here again. I see a lot of reviews saying the service was slow..... this was not our experience. Also loved the selection at the Asian grocery store connected to the restaurant.
Nice clean place. Great Service , really nice fresh tasting Shrimp Pad Thai.
Very intimate and tasty food destination
Came here with my friend, we both were happy with our food. I ordered "Basil Stir Fry with chicken", it just tasted really good 👍 if you like spicy dishes, go for the "Hot spicy soup!!"
Excellent food! I love the teas! also much better than the other restaurant at Bismarck that has the same owner as this one!
Won't visit again. Food salty. Worst cashew chicken. I've ever eaten. Not worth the expesive price tag
We always loved to eat there but since a few months the food is very inconsistent. One time I ordered a meal and asked not to put green peppers in there. When it was served I immediately could smell and taste green peppers although there were none in there. I was sure it was accidentally cooked with the peppers and taken out before they served it. The proof that I was right was when my stomach started to feel bad from eating the meal. That's the reason why I order everything without it. Also some of the vegetables in the meal where not fresh. Not going back until things are getting better...
I have never eaten here but I drive for doordash and I have picked up a few times. Not usually in the evening but tonight was an exception. They were the busiest Ive seen it. The food smells good but I havent tried it. Yet. I'm going to though. It seems authentic but I'm certainly no expert. However the people who work here are not from North Dakota! I'm Norwegian so I suppose I should know eh? They seem to be the real deal! The food must be good. Otherwise I don't think they would be so busy. It's a good sign anyway ☺️. And because of that I'll give them five stars. If I try their food and it's absolutely awful I may amend my review . But... I don't think so. I'm going out on a limb here but my gut tells me their food is good.
Plenty of parking. The place is tucked away at a dead end street across from the fire department. Easy to miss.
