The food was wonderful from the hibachi grill and the gentleman cooking it was wonderful. That’s the best I can say about the entire experience. The people sitting beside us had a staple in their salad. We had ordered a beverage that took them at least 30 minutes to bring and then it was the wrong drink. The second time they brought the beverage took just as long and again was the wrong thing and in a broken glass that was leaking everywhere. We had to flag down a different waitress because ours never came back to see if we needed anything and she got us a new drink that was finally correct. The waitress was never seen again. I had to get my own to go boxes for leftovers and flag down a different waitress yet again to get the bill. I rate the service as horrible and we won’t be going back.

We came in for lunch. They had lunch specials Monday through Saturday till 3 pm. The onion soup was excellent. Our favorite sushi pretty simple the California Roll. Watched it being made. We ordered the dinner Habachi, I wanted the noodles and vegetables, had to take some home! I went back and watched a chef prepare some Habachi table side but we were sitting in a booth. The tempura shrimp comes with two shrimp and tempura veggies. It was crispy and delicious. Service was fast and server Michael and another gal were very attentive refilling drinks and checking on us. Love the decor. They also have a happy hour.

Then I ordered two rolls, the yum yum roll and the hot hot roll. The hot hot was decent but not hot and not very flavorful. The yum yum was super disappointing. The tempura shrimp was so over cooked, it was nearly impossible to chew, which made the roll inedible. Very over priced all around. Would not recommend

Food are just ok. I was expecting more of the Dragon Roll , it didn’t excite my palate or made me crave for more . The Dans Dragon roll for me taste way better . The Bento box are ok . The tempura in Kobe taste way better and crunchy . The noodle is just ok.

My favorite place to eat sushi in town. Amazing deep fried eel cheese roll. I know it can sound weird to North Dakota tastes, but trust me it is amazing. Be adventurous and you will be rewarded. There other rolls, apps, and entrees are always great. Staff are friendly and tables are clean and comfy.

Wonderful food and calming atmosphere! Dine in, take out, and delivery all great and food is consistent and delicious! Definitely my favorite sushi place in town!

When we first arrived was worried cuz the waitress was rude because we came in asking if there were any available slots. But once the chef came in and prepared our food in front of us the waitress mood was better. The food is excellent and it was a nice experience.

Service was extraordinarily inattentive, slow, miso soup was tepid when served, the salad swam I dressing. I got the fried tofu and a chicken teriyaki bento box. The male bathroom was gross with a giant paper wad stuck to the ceiling.

Nothing like Japanese food. My Aunt's first time at a Japanese steak house.

Pretty middle of the road, not bad, but not amazing either. The pad thai was much different than most, almost tomatoey, and a few of my shrimp weren't properly deveined. The sushi was pretty good though.

Absolutely amazing! This is the best spot for Asian food in town. I had the chicken teriyaki bento box, an order of chicken tempura, and a double happiness roll. This is the place to go in Bismarck. There's no competition that compares.

There might be more experiences to have in town than here but I absolutely love stopping in at Shogun. It's a pretty good sized place with awesome staff and well made dishes.

I hope this mall stays open so this place never has to move.

Fun staff great food. Last experience went in with a reservation, after half an hour got approached at the table and asked if i had a reservation. After 50 minutes, I didn't have a drink yet even. Finally asked how long things would take and was told another hour. Left without eating or even the beers ordered half an hour prior. 0 stars wasn't busy.

A dining experience with the hibachi chefs is always fun, but eating in the dining area is just as nice. Seating in the bar is okay, and there is a back room for large groups. The service is very good sometimes and at other times not as good. You are served salad and soup right away, but sometimes you don't get a refill on drinks unless you flag someone down.

We ordered the pad Thai and I truly don't know what we ended up getting. The dish was bright orange and tasted nothing like Pad Thai, so disappointing! The waitress we had was so checked out. The tables and floors were sticky to the touch. The sushi wasn't terrible, but nothing like what we get elsewhere. I would not recommend coming here.

Great food and entertainment for family.

Been there a-couple of times service was great good was amazing. But tonight was not at all what I expected. Started by server making us wait over 5/7 mins just to get drinks. Then we got the “shogun lover” to where it comes with soup and salad only got the soup. Dude was just rude to us. Took awhile for the food to get there. Food was great! But then we never got any refills. Dude ignored us the hole time. And when it came time to pay. Some random worker “a lady” grabbed my card. And said thank you yadada. Then I asked the guy for a to-go box. And he said “ok have a good night!” And we sat and waited 10 mins and no one ever gave me my card back. I had to wait for someone to pass by to ask to give me my card back.

Some friends and I went here to eat on a Saturday night recently. None of us had ever been here and we all agreed that we would definitely like to go back! We got two different sushi rolls to share and they were both delicious. Three of us got hibachi dinners and they were great, too (you get a lot of food and the leftovers were delicious the next day). One person got chicken pad Thai and she said it was very good. The cook was very entertaining, he made sure to include the kids. Food was excellent.

Quiet, comfortable, food is excellent and very reasonable prices. Had the sushi dinner, 2 Coronas and a large hot saki. Girlfriend had a bento box and 2 pomegranate martinis. We both had leftovers and it was under $60.

The service was exceptional and is a restaurant that stands out in Bismarck with food that both stands out as having its own original foods with great taste. Along with having food that you could find at any Japanese restaurant yet with such a rich and plentiful taste, I ate here satisfied and will eat satisfied here again.

Food is fantastic and the staff are incredibly nice! The spectacular ambience and atmosphere leaves us coming again and again. Awesome for birthday parties or gatherings!

Food was super extra salty. I had to ask to get my food remade, it was a little less salty but still too salty. Service was great server made no fuss about remaking the food. Place was clean. Just need to use less salt

Shogun is an extremely fun dining experience. A great place to celebrate Birthdays!

My youngest daughter wanted to come here for her 17th birthday with my parents and her aunt. It was our first time here. We took a seat in the regular area rather than at the hibachi tables. At the time that we arrived, both were open (somewhere around late lunch, early dinner hours). We each ordered something completely different off the menu, the food was delicious. And because it was her birthday they played a birthday song for her and gave her a plate with little cakes on it! We had a wonderful time!

Food was good, but avoid ordering take out i guess. Ordered chicken and angus steak hibachi, they even asked me how i wanted my steak lol. The lunch price for chicken hibachi is 10.95, steak + chicken is 15.95, they completely forgot to put the steak in the order, guess i should’ve checked, but still it’s really frustrating that it’s one of the only hibachi places in the area and it was my first time ordering.

Delicious food and amazing atmosphere.

Waited for 21 minutes without being helped. Then the waiter proceeded to raise his voice and argue after being told making someone wait 21 minutes in an empty restaurant is unacceptable. Absolutely don't recommend. Sushi was subpar and service was as bad as it could be.

This is one of the very best Japanese/ Oriental food I have ever had in the state or probably in a long time. I had the steak and chicken combo, and it was delicious and flavorful. The plate was a good and satisfying adult portion. The service was quick and very friendly. My server was Cynthia, and she was absolutely excellent. The location, the restaurant itself and the dining room seems very clean, spacious, and inviting. The prices are not bad at all, considering the flavors, portion, the great service, and the good atmosphere. Definitely, I will come back by myself or with my family.

Despite 7 of us coming in an hour before close they served us excellently. Made sure we got our orders in and did just did a great job. Andy was our server and was super nice and was fun to talk to.

Amazing experience! JR did a WONDERFUL job!! He treated us like the stars of the show! Great show, super interactive, and he was so nice and conversational! We were lucky this time around and were the only 2 at the table- but last time we had him it was still an awesome experience. Our food was wonderful, love that the hibachi meals come with noodles! All of the staff were super friendly. Definitely will be making another reservation with JR in the future! JRRRRRRR!

Came here with my family (including my 86 year old grandma who is very hard of hearing). WOW. JR was our chef for the hibachi. He was the perfect mix of jokes in with the serious while cooking. He made sure to include my grandma in the jokes and fun and he made a point to talk loudly so she could hear him. He really was a phenomenal guy and he really made the meal. Metaphorically and literally. The food was great and the service was very good also! Very satisfied with my first experience here!!!

I just went with my family to Shogun for the first time today. Absolutely the best hibachi experience we've ever had! JR was our chef and he was GREAT! Not just the same old usual hibachi jokes, and an amazing interactive experience, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend - I'll definitely be back.

We had a very good experience tonight. Even though our wait was long for our chef at the hibachi ( there was a special party ahead of us), our chef was hilarious and made us laugh. He was aware that one of my daughters had a gluten free order and when he saw noodles on her plate from the kitchen he called the waitress over immedietly and had it sent back to the kitchen to be remade. He said that they gluten free dishes should not have noodles, ever. He was very concerened and I was sonappreciative that even though he had just made food for back to back tabels that he noticed that and corrected it. We love this place and it is the best food!

Stopped in and had some bento boxes for a quick dinner. Service and food was excellent. We have always had good things to say.

went on Friday evening and was told they were way understaffed so could i please sit at the bar with my underage son. (Hell no.) Politely excused ourselves. Went to Kobies up the street and never looked back. Kobies all the way!

The staff who work the hibachi table are absolutely fantastic, they make it so enjoyable for both the kids and the adults. Food is always cooked perfectly, and the sushi options are always fresh and tasty.

Took my family here for a random night out, I was not disappointed. The cook made sure to make it fun for my daughters too, even bringing a bottle with water so the kids could have some "sake" too. Was extremely considerate and the food was delicious.

This place was fithly! The bathrooms were disgusting! They handed me a menu that looked like it had never been cleaned. I ordered a beer and the glass was dirty. I walked out after that.

Went to the restaurant on Saturday night. Was not super busy and was sat right away. Took the server 5 minutes to greet us, another 10 minutes to come back and take our order. An hour after he took our order, no food. We ordered hibachi shrimp and hibachi steak and shrimp. We got up to leave after 1.5 hours, planning to just pay for the pop. Manager came over said it would “only” be two more minutes, they could box it up while we pay. Sorry but I’m not going to pay for food that is going to be cold because now we have to take our infant child home after she sat patiently with no dinner for over an hour. We left $5 for the waiter and pop and just left. Server was fine but service was terrible.

This is the one of the only places I will eat asian food, the dining experience is always exceptionally great! The food is always fresh and delicious, and the servers are always attentive and friendly! I especially love their selection of sake and drinks, they're so good!

Shogun is our family's favorite place to go for a birthday dinner. My daughter loves the sushi and it's always fresh and tasty. The rest of us love the hibachi. I strongly suggest making reservations because I believe they are short staffed and they may have you sit on the other side (non hibachi). The food is always really good. The only reason for 4 stars is because they charged my daughter for an adult hibachi meal when we told him we wanted a children's chicken hibachi meal (she's 6). My husband didn't notice until after we left on our receipt.

Upon entering the door, I was immediately captivated by the decor; it felt like I had entered a scene from a sci-fi show. The clever arrangement of vibrant, colored light against warm, darkened backdrops really sucks in your attention. Sitting at the bar, bathed in warm golden light at your legs below and blue light from the bar and the bottles gives an ethereal and mystical feeling to the simple act of sitting at a bar. I could write a whole review entirely about how pleasing the decor was, but I'll get on with it.
The staff was helpful every time I needed anything. The food was top-notch, and they had an impressive selection including sushi, hibachi, and Thai cuisine. I had the swordfish hibachi at my most recent visit and I was impressed with the flavors and textures from the meal. No vegetable was over-cooked, no cold center in the fish, no toughened rice or noodles. Chef seems to know what's good in his kitchen. You won't wait long for your food to arrive, and even if you do, at least you'll get to enjoy the comfortable ambience of the restaurant's interior for just a little longer. Beer selection was decent, but you'll find many more wines and specialty cocktails. Give this place a shot, and you'll leave satisfied that it was money and time well spent.

For the first time ever I tried chicken Hibachi and of course it was excellent. I know that isn't Japanese, but I was not in the mood for fish and my wife was.

Food was a bit bland not seasoned well but staff and service were excellent!
