Family-owned spot offering both Thai & Japanese menus in a relaxed environment.
We went in at an odd time and the service was excellent. The restaurant has a helpful and polite staff, our water glasses were never empty and everyone was low key friendly without intruding on our conversation. And the food! I got sesame chicken and it was perfectly done. The servings were generous without being ridiculous. We also got the assorted appetizer: the satay chicken was tender and the spring rolls were both crispy and hot.
The next time I am in Statesville I will go back. Five stars all around.
The food quality here can fluctuate, although it is generally good. Appetizers and Pad Thai are especially tasty. The atmosphere is a little lacking; pop music doesn't really seem to go with the Thai décor. Service quality depends on wĥich server you get. Take out portions are quite generous, which is a plus. They do take Amex.
I came here based on a recommendation and really wanted to love it. The service and staff were lovely—friendly and attentive—but unfortunately, the food was a big disappointment.
Everything we tried was surprisingly bland. We started with the spring rolls, which were underwhelming and lacked flavor. For my main dish, I ordered the pad see ew, and it just wasn’t good. The taste was off, the texture was slimy, and the dish as a whole was just not appetizing. I understand that everyone has different tastes, but if even the spring rolls don’t hit the mark, it’s hard to be confident about the rest of the menu.
It’s possible we caught them on an off night, but for the price, I expected much better. Sadly, this experience didn’t live up to the recommendation, and I don’t see myself returning. Price was pretty steep too.
Many times we have dined here for both lunch & dinner. My husband and I enjoy the food. The service is fast. We appreciate the hospitality of the owner’s family and wait staff.
Its small and quaint. A cozy place for a date, but not ideal for one. There isn't much space between the tables, parking is limited. There is space for wheelchairs. The food is good. It's a great place to get takeout, the staff is very courteous. This is a regular spot for me and I would recommend it to anyone. If you're a fan of spicy food, this may not be the place for you, other than that it's hard to go wrong. Their menu is easy to read, they have plenty of options and the food Is always cooked well
I cannot effectively describe how perfect the food is. Everything they make is perfectly balanced, and you can taste the mastery in everything. They are very accommodating if you have food sensitivities. This community values them very much.
Delicious Thai food in Statesville! I was driving through fron Charlotte and saw this place, looked at reviews, and decided to give them a try! It is your standard mom and pop type Thai spot that I have missed since my spot closed in Charlotte. I had the spring rolls, tom kha soup, and a papaya salad Laos style. Everything was great! I ordered Thai hot, and lawd have mercy was it spicy. Haha. I would definitely go back!
We won’t be returning because of the woman server sneaking in extra charges at checkout, and lunch portions and dinner portions are the same except you’re paying almost double for dinner. Check your receipt!! Specifically if the lady rings up your order. Before you pay at the front make sure you scroll up and down to make sure there’s no hidden charges. I’ve been coming here for years at least once a month. We normally order online through their website, but recently the total is always more when I pay in person than the total is shows online. But I noticed when the man rings up my order it’s always the price it shows online. We dined in a couple weeks ago, my husband’s order was wrong and he got chicken instead of beef in his pho, my mother’s drink and my drink were wrong. We let it go because she seemed very busy and we are regulars. When we checked out our total for 3 people was a little over 60 dollars. I scrolled up and down on the screen and I noticed she charged us for 3 extra drinks. I showed her and she said it was correct. I explained to her there’s 3 people, not 6. (She should know, she served us). She looked annoyed and said she would fix it and then said I could pay now. I checked the screen and the total was the same. I scrolled again and the only difference was she moved the extra 3 drinks to the far bottom of the screen. Again, I informed her it was wrong and she seemed irritated. She finally fixed it. Looking back through my old bank statements from choptix I saw my total wasn’t always the same. (Which is odd because we always order the same things). My guess is when the gentleman rings you up he is doing it correctly and when the woman rings you up she is sneaking in extra charges. Sooooo CHECK the whole screen up and down before you pay.

Some really authentic dishes and friendly service. Great change of pace.
Excellent! I drive from Claremont to Statesville to get their red curry!

Very friendly good food very mix people
Everywhere I travel and live in try the local places. My first time here wasn't great. I'm from Tampa and have high expectations. Second time was a score ! The PHO was amazing and came disassembled. Love it. I had complete control over how hot/sweet i wanted. I've only ever ordered take out here. So very next day I had to go back and try the shrimp PHO. beef in my first pho was questionable, not sure what they're using. I will take pics this time! I encourage everyone to get out and try new places and new food ! We are what we eat !
I've eaten at this restaurant for at least 15 years. I won't be back after this last visit. My go to is Pad Thai with chicken. The noodles tasted and looked more like spaghetti noodles instead of the Thai noodles. The times before, the taste was way off. I'm done.
Awesome
I definitely would eat here again
My family and myself went to try this place out since my kids first choice was closed on Tuesdays. We are very glad we did! It took them a few minutes to decide on what to get since it was something new to them, but they settled on a sweet chicken stir fry with broccoli and rice. All three of them loved it! My mom got the chicken in a nest and basil veggie rolls and kept on saying how good it was. I got the number 27 which is bean noodles and it was delicious as well. Everything I tried was very fresh, had great flavor, and was definitely plenty of food! We all had leftovers even though we wanted to finish it it was so good!! We will definitely be going back! Oh I almost forgot we got spring rolls as an appetizer and they are very good as well. A++ rated!!
The Massaman curry is SO GOOD!! My whole group I was with loved the food so much we came back the next night for dinner. The vegetables were cooked PERFECTLY! Thank you Chopstix :)
Authentic Thai food. Very friendly staff.
Mediocre food with really poor service.
Been coming here for 20+ years, but the last couple have been disappointing, no longer friendly service, prices have doubled, and the great taste is gone, I won't be back
I am such a fan of this place. The food is fretted over and ownership is so friendly and the staff is great as well. Top 5 restaurants in Statesville and worth a trip if you are in town.
The people are so nice 10/10 experience
Ordered pho , cheese rolls and pad Thai.
10/10 flavor on the pho is so good.
Great portion & love that it can be to go
Hands down best curry and pad thai I've had in NC!
I used to enjoy dining here but over the last couple years they just seem indifferent? Place your order, hand over food, pay and leave so I stopped coming here
A few days ago I decided to give them another try and this visit would be a disaster.
Once again no prices listed on the menu, this is irritating one should know what they are paying for. A paper menu was handed over with prices listed and detailed menu items. Two appetizers were ordered, Grilled chicken satay and Shrimp wrapped in rice paper. I was having a nice conversation with another person who heard me place the order and asking if the shrimp were actually wrapped in rice paper? I was told "yes"and let him know I have a wheat allergy.
Fast forward, the Grilled chicken satay were actually deep fried. The server seemed confused when I started asking questions about the breading on them? Again told him that I have an Allergy. The Shrimp wrapped in rice paper, was happy to have it but after eating a couple thought it tasted like spring rolls which has wheat in it. I spoke to the server about this and he disappeared through a door. I got up looking for him and started to get nervous. He came back into the dinning room saying that he "couldn't read all of the ingredients but it does contain wheat". What I have an Allergy and told you this!
He had some kind of grin/smirk on his face and seems to take no responsibility even after telling him about the allergy more than once.
I left pissed, drove immediately to a store to get allergy medicine then threw up for fifteen minutes in a bathroom.
I've spent several days cooling off before writing this review and after thinking about it Chopsticks just doesn't care about the food or their customers. Grilled food comes out fried, rice paper should be exactly that not spring roll wrappers.
I will never set foot in this restaurant again.
Deliscious Thai food. Reminded me of my mom's cooking. Worth the drive.
Great food but service is on the slow side, especially when you are waiting on the check.
The funny part is the menu has NO prices; looks like they used whiteout.
After waiting for the check, we were finally told to just go to the register and pay... surprise, you finally get to find out how much your meal is!!
First time trying Thai food. Delicious..
Had my first bowl of Pho...very tasty 😋
We’ve only had takeout from Chopstix and the food is always very good.
Love the food here. Especially the larb 🤤
The pho here was one of, if not the best, I have had in this area. The service was incredibly polite, fast, and happy to be there. I had the pleasure of speaking to the owner and chef. He was an absolute delight. I'm pretty sure that I'll be driving 25 min to get my pho here for awhile.
ive been eating here for 10 years and i will continue to eat it forever and ever
They made a vegetarian pho upon request! Great food! Great service!
My husband was craving red curry. Definitely hit the spot. We had a great experience.
My shrimp in a blanket was a tad bit over fried. I always have had an issue with my food being brought out at separate times when you have several items. The appetizers should always come first unless of course you are eating appetizer as a meal and then the entree should come all at the same time for all guests. The plates were brought out for all guests at the table over various times and one at a time. The food should be held under a salamander until all food is ready and served at once so food does not become cold while waiting on the others to be served. Other than that little knit it's a great place to have a bowl of pho and other delights on their menu.
Hands down the best atmosphere and food in town. Very friendly. Will make anything anyway you want it. We eat here atleast 3 times a week because it's affordable and delicious. It's worth every pant size you may gain!
Tim has the most amazing personality!! He made sure to call to make sure my food was correct for my DoorDash order .
The food was very good and served quickly! The staff was courteous. The thai tea was delicious and I highly recommend it!
I've only done takeout a couple times but the curry is awesome 👌
The food was delicious and was served in a timely manner. 😋 I loved the orchid served with the meal.
Great place to eat. Hibachi was great!
House Fried Rice with the spicy sauce and Tempura shrimps are delicious.
The service is very minimal to say the least especially if you get the skinny female waitress. The atmosphere is out of your basic Chinese buffet or takeout restaurant. While the service and atmosphere may be lacking, they offer some of the best authentic Thai cuisine with a Japanese influence that I have found we have eaten there almost once or twice a week since we discovered this restaurant three or four months ago and I have not had one dish that I would not order again. They're drunken noodles are the best I've ever had, so if you are searching for an authentic Thai experience, this little restaurant is exactly what you're looking.
It is always good and the service is fast and friendly.
Great food, nice atmosphere! Sticky rice was fresh. Nice server.
Food is good, service is good, interior is run down and dated.
Love love love this place! Good food, good service good pricing!
Very good Thai food.
Really good food! Super fast service and good prices. We are often disappointed by Thai places. We were pleased to find this quality.
We had dinner at Chopstix with our two small boys. The Pad Thai was delicious and the chicken fried rice was pretty good too. The dumplings are shumai, not potstickers, which was fine but not what we were expecting. We ordered them fried, but I prefer shumai steamed. A good dining experience. I would recommend.
Basil fried rice is the best
For Asian food in town, this is probably the best one. It is thai so I can't directly compare to a chinese or japanese place, but it is good.
There is not a lot of diner usually so you don't have to wait if you choose to dine in. Maybe because they are locate in the quiet side of town. I see mostly to go order.
Food is good, not oily, noodles or fried rice are not wet. So strange that some place has wet pad thai like it is chicken noddle. Anyway, if you want Asian food for lunch or dinner, try this place.
I ordered to go the other day and the food was excellent as always. When you dine in, the atmosphere and staff are wonderful.
Had my first visit to Chopsticks in Statesville today for Mother’s Day, and my last! The food was okay but service was nonexistent! Could not even get our bill to leave the restaurant. My husband and I had to walk over to the waiter cleaning a table to ask for ticket to leave………and if your thinking they were busy, no they were not we waited until after the rush, please your food just not that good!
Everything was so delicious I can't wait to go back.
I'm from a larger city with lots of options for Asian food. Chopstix was a pleasant surprise. It's not super fancy but is very comfortable which suits me better anyway. The menu gave plenty of options without being overwhelming and the food was delicious. I'm looking forward to eating here again the next time I'm in town.
Really good food. Take out was very busy too. Pad thai to die for, loved the butterfly made from carrot. Fresh rolls were terrific and would really love the recipe for the sauce that they served them with. We are travelling so not able to return until next year, that is too bad because I would be back regularly!
Food was good and service was excellent.
The staff is wonderful, and so is the food. I eat here two or three times a month, easily. Today I was in there and one of the staff members was being mistreated by a customer who clearly was racist. She kept her composure and maintained her professionalism (even continuing to serve someone who should have been kicked out).
Great food. Great service. I was a little worried when I saw the prices weren't on the menu, but the total turned out to be a decently good price.
Great food!
The Pad Kee Mao was very delicious and flavourful! Add shrimp 😉
Slow unresponsive staff. Small portions.
Consistently the best Thai food in the area. I enjoy the Larb.
I grew up eating here, I think the food is great and I do recommend
Love the food
Two stars because I just feel guilty only giving one. I had the basil fried rice and it was extremely bland and very greasy. Couldn’t even taste the basil but it had plenty in there. The wait staff was very sweet and kind.
Fast and friendly. Food is decent.
Om Mani Peme Hung
Food was okay, service excellent, atmosphere okay for what it is.
Rubbery chicken and unfriendly boy taking order, will not go back here.
Consistently good food. So many good choices.
Only place we could meet. I had a very uptown dish for lunch, authentic, duck in hot curry. Neh. Not bad, just not good either. For $25 with tip, I expected tasty.
Very good food
Wonderful food
Went to Stone Mountain for a hike. On the way back we were looking for something to eat. We searched hibachi and found this gem instead. Wish I got the servers name when he offered to give some recommendations I was amazed by his knowledge on the menu he gave multiple recommendations in each section. Definitely will be back to try their drunken noodles. For myself I order both the catfish With the ginger style. It was very fresh and flavorful if you do not like ginger this want be the dish for you . I live 45 min away I would make the drive for their catfish. Also tried something out the box and that was pineapple fried rice with shrimp no chicken and absolutely loved it. Even took a try and mixing the broth and fish with fried rice and was blew away with flavor. We got the sweet and sour chicken for the kid and for someone who said he don’t eat sweet and sour chicken only orange chicken. Yes we lied to him told him it was orange chicken he loved it he said he liked it because it was sweet and crispy(Pad Peaw Wann ) . My friend had the Pad Ga Paow a house sauce with fresh basil veggies and shrimp Light and flavorful best describes that dish everything comes with white rice. I will back and can’t wait for more recommendations.
Have not been there in 4 months and the waitress remembered my exact order.
Pad Kee Mao aka drunken noodles are fantastic, I highly recommend this dish. We dined in and the entire place smelled amazing. Don't be scared by how it looks on the outside, just give it a chance, inside it is like a normal asian restaurant. We also had green curry that was very good. I didn't like the chicken in it very much, but it is just my preference.
Update: a year later Pad Kee Mao is still amazing. Green curry is a little weird with green peas added. Tastes a little more like winter soup rather than curry. Also, the menu had no prices 🤷 You have to scan a code to see them
Getting better
Scrumptious food with friendly service.
We had chicken/beef hibachi, fried rice and the cheese spring rolls. Food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly. We'll definitely return
Delicious food! Got mine spicy and it did not disappoint! Highly recommended. Make sure to try the Basil Spring Rolls with peanut sauce 😋 👌
My favorite Thai place, the pad Thai is delicious! Had a great car seat holder for our baby that we hadn't seen elsewhere, was very welcoming for new parents!
So gooood!!!!!!
Very good food
Food and atmosphere is fantastic! Great service!
Awesome food and service, amazing
Worst steak I've ever tried to eat, so tough it could not chew, never came to them table to refill drinks, not once, complained and he knocked 30 percent off and 2 meals cost $35. If its had been good, I would have gladly paid $50, however, no meat in may meal because it was too tough. Ate rice and vegetables. Used to love this place, will not go back.
It was absolutely delicious!
I wasn't pleased with the amount of food I got for the price. And the employees definitely dont need to have a job dealing with the public.
Great clean
Very good Thai food
Great food and service. Clean restaurant and very clean bathrooms.
For is always fire 🔥. My go-to is the bird nest. Thai hot is actually spicy.
Great food but a table near us had 3 liberal loon women sitting there drinking and the one with the man haircut was using every cuss word possible. Alot people eat here after church and nobody should have to listen to that. Better be glad I was with the church crowd.
amazing vegetarian choices.. even pho was made with veggie stock.. pad thai and rice wraps were delicious.. excellent staff and even the chef came by to say hello..
The BEST food around!
Very disappointed. Used to eat here fairly often and hadn't been in awhile. Always get the Pad Thai and it was always delicious. But tonight.....the noodles were so sticky and greasy that I could pick the whole meal up with a fork as a solid block. So distressed I paid $11 for something I couldn't eat.
Incredible food and service
No sushi bar until next year
I recommend the PHO A+,nice owners nice workers I will definitely will come back.
Wonderful experience! The cook was SO KIND and the food delicious!!!’
I’ve ate here for yearrrrsss idk what they did to the food but literally none of it tastes the way it’s supposed to. Red curry shouldn’t taste just like coconut milk like they really need to fix that.!
This is the best place to get Thai food in Statesville, North Carolina. The service is always very friendly and if you ask them they can also make the most delicious mango sticky rice dessert. It’s not on the menu, you have to ask. ;) Love the red curry and the green curry with tofu, I pretty much get that every time.
Food ok but no beer. Wine or sake. Staff very nice
This place used to be one of my favorites to eat in statesville. Through the pandemic, the food quality/taste took a serious nose-dive. Lately the food has been back to normal, but now they've cheated me the past 2 times on my order. They list Normal and Lunch sized portions that are very different in size and price. Twice now i've orderd the full portion to split with a co-worker, and they've given me the lunch size (and kept my extra 4-5 bucks in the process). No time to go back to get it corrected on a lunch break, and in the past when i've asked for them to fix mistakes, they want you to bring back the food immediately to get any kind of replacement. I probably won't be back unfortunately. The food is good, but not good enough for me to lose 4-5 bucks every time i go.
Placing an order was far more complicated than it should have been. Multiple times, I had to repeat myself and a simple question couldn't be answered (portion sizes). After ordering a 28 with no vegetables, the disappointment amplified.
In addition to the outrageous price of $12.80 for what seemed like $7.00 worth of food, I was unsatisfied and still could've ate more. If I went to Shanghai buffet, I could get around double the portions for the same price if I ordered takeout. The taste was average at best. When the person on the phone failed to understand me, I should've followed my first mind and went elsewhere.
Needless to say, this will be my last visit. If I wanted a happy meal, I would go to McDonald's.
Great Thai food
Flavorful food and reasonable prices.
Really yummy Thai food! My husband and I love the Pad Thai, Thai Fried Rice, and the Yellow Curry.
First time eating here, Chopstix came highly recommended. Everything started out like a normal visit. We ordered an appetizer and two meals and two drinks. We got our drinks and food in a timely manner. The food was hot and seemed fresh....but what about the appetizer. We would never get to figure out what happened to it, because the waiter never made it back to our table. 15 minutes waiting without a refill on our drinks and still no appetizer. We finally decided to go pay without a bill and still thirty. They tried to charge us for the appetizer then had to look at the table to verify we didn't get the appetizer. This was my first and last visit to Chopstix! Unlike everyone who recommended Chopstix I definitely do not recommend eating here.
Food is always good and hot love the spicy taste
Consistently delicious food with friendly family service
I love this place. The owners sre very accommodating, staff is attentive, and the food is always amazing. True genuine Thai/Lao food. If you've never ate Thai before I'd advise starting with the Chicken Phad Thai. For those that love spicy food and chicken I'd advise getting Thomb Buk Hung(Papaya Salad) Lao Style *5 star* sticky rice, and a chicken platter.
For those that like to try new foods but not a lover of spicy things. You can still order the Papaya salad lao style 1-3 star, sticky rice, and the chicken platter. It's amazing and my all time favorite dish at any thai restaurant.
To those that order the 5* take the cabbage/lettuce and place a decent size ball of the sticky rice onto it, take the Papaya salad AND place it on top of it all. You can either bite into the chicken while on the bone or rip pieces off and place it atop the ball you've just created and endulge in the deliciousness that is Thomb Buk Hung.
Best Asian cuisine in town. Staff is nice.
Food was wonderful and the service was amazing. Definitely going back.
Always very friendly food is very good too
Compared to phoenix in mooresville(maybe a sister restaurant as the menu is almost identical), I can give only three stars. Atmosphere, food presentation, food, it is not quite there yet. also condensation dripping from ceiling.
This was my favorite place to eat in Statesville for a while now, up until this very moment where it was revealed to me that the massaman curry tofu that I always get is made with fish sauce.
My friend and I are vegan, and every time we come here we explicitly request it be made with a vegetarian sauce instead of fish sauce—something we’ve been told every single time is an okay option… until this one. I can only assume we’ve been lied to every single time we’ve been here before, and that really sucks to find out. It’s a good thing neither of us have an allergy to fish.
Their food is AMAZING. They always follow special instructions, and they give big portions.
