Shiki Sushi, a Durham staple for over two decades, serves up a unique culinary journey through Asia. Their menu features expertly crafted sushi alongside other delectable dishes inspired by Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese cuisine.
I’ve been coming here for years for sushi and it’s always fresh and delicious! Buy one get one half off is the way to go. It’s a great way to try something new. I’ve also enjoyed the hibachi and Mongolian beef on previous visits. The lo mein noodles are my favorite. I swear we get the same server every time we visit-he is the best and always takes great care of us. Atmosphere is chill and restaurant is immaculate.
I and my family came in for dinner on last Saturday by 6pm and ask for table of six. The server asked us to wait and they would get a table for us. However, we've been waiting more than 15 minutes and still not have a table while the restaurant was quite slow and many empty spaces.
Then, we ordered plenty of sushi and some Thai foods.
The Thai's food was great, however, the sushi was really terrible. The salmon was super smells and stinky. The tuna was horrible. We've never been thru this terrible fish like this before. Our daughters are sushi lovers, they ordered a lot of sushi and they all gave up. We had complained and someone told us that's their best fish. I was " Oh Yeah ...". Their best fish was like that...garbage... which may cause people sick and/or hospitalized. We took some pictures and you can see how terrible their fish were...
We had to paid more than $300 for the bills and mostly garbage. One of my daughter had vomited after got off the restaurant. This is a TERRIBLE RESTAURANT.
REALLY REALLY BAD BAD FOODS, & SERVICES... HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED...!!!
I’ve been going here for years usually for takeout using their sushi special. While my family was in town we went out for lunch and everything was fantastic. The food was delicious and the service phenomenal. We received our bills and were thrilled to find the appetizer could be split 3 ways and we all had made it out decently. That was until the cards were ran and the checks were brought back to be signed. Once received, we found the bills were higher than originally given. We discovered the discount may have originally been applied incorrectly understood how the circumstances could have unfolded. However, to not have been informed of this mistake or change and to have to discover it on our own put a sour taste in our mouths that no amount of delicious food could mask. Unfortunately this will probably be my last visit as there is no telling what could go wrong with my bill next time.
I love this place ! Servers are attentive and professional (s/o to paul) and the food is immaculate. And they have bogo for their specialty sushi again! My favorite is the Volcano roll, but the Crazy roll was top noch also. My husband got the sweet and spicy Thai chili chicken from the new menue and we will return to try more of the new menue - you can tell lots of effort went into it!
Sushi use to be delicious. Now it's underwhelming. Sushi falls apart as you pick it up. I ordered Hibachi and it tasted a little bland. Prices have increased. Quality of food is lacking flavor. We tried this restaurant 2 or 3 times looking for the delicious taste that we use to experience. No luck!
Best fresh sushi 🍣 in the bull city... I would hang a directional sign over the hostess area upon entry so that customers actually know where the restroom is located without having to ask the staff. The customers appreciate it. It's down a long, dark, and not very well lite back of the restaurant. Just a recommendation to owners. Other than that, it's a terrific place.
Amazing restaurant! The food is extremely flavorful. For appetizer we got the bokchoy and Spring rolls. The bokchoy was out of this world! I have never tasted such delicious bokchoy. The sauce was the hero of the dish. The spring rolls were good too. We tried sushi for our main course. They were really tasty. The ambience is nice. They play funky music that is not too distracting. It is easy to have a conversation with friends and family. The menu also has a nice range of non-alcoholic drinks like mocktails which I would like to try next time. Overall, I would recommend this place.
This is not good sushi. It's a small step above grocery store sushi. Nigiri is poorly cut and with far too much rice per piece. And speaking of the rice, it's pretty bad as well. If you want assembly line sushi at OK prices then maybe this is the place for you. If you care about the quality of your fish and appreciate the high level craft of well made sushi then look elsewhere.

We went for an early dinner and had a great time as always. Shiki is the 1st sushi place I went to where I decided to really enjoy sushi. Up until I tried them several years ago, I didn't care for it. If I'm in the area (I'm based in Raleigh), it's my go to spot for BOGO (half off). Drinks are great too‼️

I cannot speak for the sushi, but I ordered the kung pao chicken and it was the most bland asian dish I’ve ever had.
I have been coming to this place for years and have always enjoyed it. However, my recent experience was disappointing. I purchased bagel rolls, and unfortunately, the meat smelled bad, as if it had gone bad. After an hour drive home, I had no choice but to throw them away.
This was frustrating, and I hope this was just an isolated issue. Please take steps to ensure the quality of your food moving forward. I really want to continue supporting this place, but experiences like this make it difficult.
Was not greeted properly. The waitress took awhile to take our order within a smile. We had to ask her 3xs for condiments. Our appetizers weren’t served together as a group. My date finished his appetizer before mine was served. The honey chicken was not tasty. It was a very unfriendly atmosphere. We all agreed we would never return.
Great service! Food was pretty good too.

Great overall experience. The food was amazing. As always, the atmosphere was on point.
Please do not go here! I simply requested water with a lemon from the waitress who was visibly drunk and she had to get our drink orders two more times before finally bringing it. Mind you the waitress also invited her buddies to sit at the bar with her and was on FaceTime, inviting more of her buddies to show up. When it was time for us to order, I requested the miso Ramen while literally pointing at it on the menu and this drunk waitress stated they did not have Ramen here.. when she finally came to her senses and realized that they in fact did have Ramen there I requested the chili she suggested we get for the Ramen and it was never brought out. When I request it for it again, she proceeded to attempt to ring it up and asked “did you mean hot sauce”???? (Mind you she was the one who suggested we get the chili) we once again never received the chili. There were other waitresses behind the bar who were filling up tubs with alcohol to take home their words not mine. They were overall unprofessional. I would have let this all slide if the food was good. The chicken in the Ramen was sooo bland it was as if they boiled it in water with no seasoning. On the menu the eggs were supposed to be ramen eggs they were not and once again they were bland. And the noodles were gummy. The food was waaay too expensive for the quality. Waitress never checked on us. I will never eat here again
Manager David is wonderful he goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need and more
Love the Lobster Tempura sushi here!!
I have eaten here twice now. I really like how they clearly mark gluten free items. The first time I went the food and service was fantastic. The second time I went, today, the service was not as good but the food was still very yummy. I will go back, hopefully the we will have a better waiter this time.
Great spot. Miami style vibes and best sushi at a reasonable price around.

Great food, great waitress awesome playlist!
Ordered take out tonight and experience and food were disappointing. It's been awhile since I've eaten here but in previous years it was great with great service. I would no longer recommend this place. I placed a take out order and had to repeat part of the order 6 times as the staff taking the order continued to leave out items. At the final review of the order, it was correct. Despite all this, the order was still wrong and he left out half of the ingredients requested (and were likely charged for) on the poke bowl. Further complicating things, they charged our credit card twice. The rest of the food in the order was correct but flavorless except for the Ultimate Roll.
Not what it used to be. Food served at room temperature. Calamari appetizer room temperature. Steak and Chicken hibachi room temperature and tough. Not authentic is any way. Great disappoint on the cold. Customer service was great. But the food was as if I went through a drive through. Position sizes wered extremely small for the price. Especially the entree. We were very disappointed during this outing.Cost is way to much from the specific order. As I looked around other were complaining the same. This is ridiculous
NOTE: Food is more expensive than advertised web prices. Ordered two $15 hibachi entrees and the total was $40.
Anyway, the food was bad. Hard vegetables, overcooked noodles, no flavor. The fried rice tasted very bad, like the smell of a shoe store in the mall.
Expensive asf and not good. Avoid their hibachi at all costs.
Easy parking, great service, great sushi
I have been to this place a few times. Every time I have given it a chance I have been rather disappointed.
They set up their image as a sort of upscale Asia restaurant. Their dishes run a the gamut from Japanese to Thai to Chinese. Prices match that image -- very comparable to PF Chang's. Most dishes starting around $20 and heading up from there.
Unfortunately, they struggle on two main points: food quality and atmosphere.
I have tried a wide array of items in their menu. All of them generally middling. As an example, the chicken lo mein, a stir fry dish with lots of vegetables. My plate came with a ton of vegetables and not much chicken. I love veggies, so no huge lost for me, but might be for others. Unfortunately the veggies were effectively raw. It's not necessarily bad. But for the price I would really expect a little color, some caramelization...smaller, more consistent cutting for even cooking, etc. Again, it's not bad, it's just very amateurish. Compared to even something like PF Chang (really their main competition in the area) their dishes lack polish given the higher than average prices. The sushi and hibachi were similar in the execution.
What's more, the store has a sort of standoffish, chintzy vibe. Their menu is covered with warnings of "No Refunds." They go on at length about how if you don't like the dish that you receive that is decidedly your problem. Frankly, I agree with the sentiment, but to cover your menu with it leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. It is a similar vibe with the cool fish tank in the waiting area. It's has big signs saying "Do not touch!." Again fair, but that could also be communicated more gently, in smaller font, with a please or a thank you. It is a bit hard to explain, it's not that they are unreasonable, but there is a sort of combative undertone -- a sense of you customers have caused us problems and we don't tolerate it. It's not a particularly warm and inviting atmosphere.
On the whole, if you are looking for an upscale Asian place in the area I would encourage you to look elsewhere. The experience simply isn't worth the cost.
The fish was terrible - smelled fishy and was tough. The manager explained they get the fish in twice a week and cut it then. Not how a good Japanese restaurant handles fresh, raw fish. Wouldn't recommend if you want decent sushi or sashimi. I was very disappointed.
Had dinner, food it was ok, but the server was way too rude, denied drinks no Ice for the kids saying that she run out of pineapple juice and 2 seconds later a coworker showed up with multiple juice cans, she never warned us about the extra charge for hot sauce, yes! They will charge you for a little bit of hot sauce, her attitude was just impolite, I get it, we all struggle and we all can have bad days, but we that don’t justify the attitude of the waitress really.
Pretty good sushi and good service. A little in the pricey side
Update: 11.05.24 The service at this restaurant has not been good since Covid-19 outbreak in 2020. We've dined in and out. We used to love this place. The salad pictured had 1 piece of tomato and 1 small piece of a cucumber. By the way, this was the LARGE house salad!
Review from 7 years ago: We love this place! Great atmosphere, great customer service and awesome food.
One of the better sushi places in RTP, also one of the more expensive ones. They do have some rolls that are buy one get one half off. If you eat more than one roll then you are probably going to be north of 30 bucks, but you are getting quality.
Food & service was horrible. Server only talked to us when she said “what do you want” after we had been waiting 20 mins from being seated. Fancy restaurant, nice garnishes, but horrible tasting food. You get better buying grocery store sushi.
I want to give 6 stars.
Best service (Thank you, Mona!) , incredible food. We never feel rushed.
Great food and drinks... Usually by one get one half off in sushi rolls. Try the dragon roll and the Nemo roll.
Everything was fantastic. This is my go to when it comes to sushi 🍣
My first time here. I will definitely come back. The food was amazing. The Service was amazing. We didn't have to wait long get a table. I think this is a forgotten hidden gem. You will not regret coming here.

REALLY REALLY BAD BAD FOODS, & SERVICES... HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED...!!!
We ordered fried calamari and goyza. They were barely warm. They both reminded me of frozen food you can buy at the grocery store. I was hopeful that the sushi would be better since it was cold and they didn't have to cook it. We ordered 4 rolls and they were boring all had one note to them. I was severely disappointed as most reviews mentioned it was the best sushi they ever had.
Take out order of 2 rolls and a beverage. The cucumber mango roll had no seaweed salad and the crunch roll had no topping either. Had to ask for the drink as not with the order. Rolls lacked flavor but could be because ingredients were left off. No special order changes.
Will not order again.
No longer has a BOGO deal on rolls but they'd love to tell you about their new *Buy One Get One Half Off* at raised prices.
Rolls are tasty but for the new prices and deal I wouldn't come back. Staff was friendly when getting carryout.
Absolutely love everything about this location, Restaurant, sushi, Atmosphere.... I'm not sure there's anything that could be improved upon except for the non-working fountain outside the restaurant (which i cld care less about... bc its all about the sushi)!!
I'm not sure I could pick a favorite role.
Paul & peer service is outstanding! The food is good, great presentation. The atmosphere adapts different journeys, such as date night, friends outing or after work outing with coworkers. I enjoy their sushi & hibachi meals. For Hibachi lovers this is not your typical hibachi setup, they don’t cook in front of you but the food is good.
Seemed pretty good and the inside is nice I had the pho and should have known better ( it was meh).
Great Food and experience!
Jeremiah was awesome! The food was good, nothing overly amazing. Did not appreciate the one lady sweeping the floor beside our table while we were eating, and continuing to do so even after we protested.
Prices are higher than I remember but the service and food was good. I would go some place nicer for the price next time.
The fried vegetable dumplings were good. The hot and sour soup was okay, but needed salt. The crunchy roll, which is usually very good and my favorite sushi roll they have, was not good this time. The shrimp tasted like rubbery water.
I had a Hibachi combo. I picked steak and shrimp. It was really delicious. It came with a yummy salad. Can't wait to go back.
Always a winner when I want sushi. Not the best I've ever had, but dependably quite good. Prices have gone up considerably, but that's too be expected these days.
This establishment used to have pretty unique rolls and a buy one get one sushi menu that made them very competitive. They now cost the same or more as other sushi places and have stopped serving some of their unique rolls. The sumo roll is still good, if you're willing to pay for it.
Amazing restaurant! The food is extremely flavorful. For appetizer we got the bokchoy and Spring rolls. The bokchoy was out of this world! I have never tasted such delicious bokchoy. 👍🏻
this is what $30.00 gets you here.
EXTREMELY OVERPRICED, and it’s not even that good.
It would be helpful if the description matches how many pieces.
This was some expensive rice with thin salmon and octopus meat. And I guarantee this salmon isn’t even wild caught. Just really disappointed.
Good dining experience for four of us, at dinner. I've also had good experience here for lunch. Appetizers, sushi and entrees are all good. Haven't tried the salads, soups or bowls yet.
Takeout sushi was absolutely horrible.
The service has gone down over the years but the food is still ok.
Always delicious food and great service
Came in for lunch. Ordered their Crazy roll, which according to their menu, said it was a shrimp tempura roll with cucumber and spicy Mayo inside. When the roll came out, there was raw tuna in the roll. I asked for the waitress to have the roll remade. This request became 20 minutes of going back and forth between the waitress, management and kitchen staff. The manager told me that it was because there was a typo on the menu and instead of spicy Mayo, it was spicy tuna. She originally told me that she wasn’t going to fix it because that’s how the correct menu says the roll is..which I didn’t have. She ended up taking my plate back saying that they’ll remake it. When they brought it back, they only removed the tuna from the original roll I was given, leaving gaps in the roll. Overall, I was extremely disappointed by the treatment of management over a mistake that they made on their menus. It all just felt very flippant. And when you’re paying $50 for sushi, you want it to taste good and be right!
Portion size was very disappointing, hibachi chicken mostly peppers for ~$20. Service mid
Extremely disappointed on my visit last night for dinner.. Been a customer here for awhile and was surprised by their recent menu changes.. Prices have gone up and no more BOGO Sushi.. Now it's Buy 1 Get another 1/2 off.. Service was subpar and no atmosphere whatsoever. No music and the place was ghost town during peak time.. All signs are pointing go elsewhere. Won't be returning.
The waiter sat us in the back corner away from everybody else.. you can only guess what color we are.. They gave us the bartender as our waiter. The food took 45 mins to come and it was cold.. Just terrible, I would never come here again!!
This is a huge restaurant. It seems fancy but it’s really casual. My family of 4 with two kids dined in for dinner on a Friday night around 9pm. We were seated in the bar area. I thought it was weird but realized the bartender was running the bar and several tables including ours. I believe his name is Paul. He was a brunette Caucasian man with his hair pulled back in a pony tail. His service was phenomenal. He kept making sure to check on us, fill our waters and get our food out timely. Even though he had like 4 tables and the bar to run.
This place has a lot of potential to be a 5 star restaurant. Food was ok not bad, but it could be better. They need more front of the house staff. There were three teens at the entrance as hostess and they were not friendly. They seem to have a ton of people in the back cooking. However, only one bartending manning the bar and serving.
Our experience only went well because of Paul, our waiter/bartender.
Have been to this location many times! Love their sushi rolls. Last time, I tried their Hibachi with steak, and it was very flavorful . Our server was very nice and professional.
Nice atmosphere excellent food
My family loves Shiki so we used to rent the private room at least 4 times a year for gatherings. Never again! Twice in the last few months I've gotten there around 8:30 to find the doors locked. I called and they said the kitchen was closed. Closing time is 9pm according to the sign on the door. I asked if I could at least get a drink since I drove over 30 minutes to get there. He said Yes and still left me outside. My family and I will be finding a new gathering spot for sure!
I've been coming here almost 20 years, when they were much smaller and less fancy. This is the place where I learned to love sushi.
There's never much of a wait, and the apps and sushi rolls are superb. I've never had better sushi anywhere else!
Went here because in the past we have enjoyed the sushi, but unfortunately we had to throw away all our last order due to a hair being in one of the first few pieces of sushi we ate. It's upsetting that the quality has taken a turn for the worst.
Great food
This is my favorite sushi restaurant. The food is exceptional, very fresh and made to order. The sushi is what I am there for, but their noodle dishes and fresh vegetables are also delicious. It’s my favorite place to go with friends and sit for an extended time. They are very patient with us coming for lunch and staying through most of the afternoon. They offer a menu section of BOGO sushi rolls— generous portions freshly made. My friends and I always get a box to go, though we usually have to order additional food because we have sat for several hours and consumed everything we ordered. I have an actual list on my phone of all of the different rolls we have tested out to make sure we always get our favorites plus remember to try a few new ones. Even right after Covid when I was very worried they might not be able to reopen, when they were seating people far apart, the food was fresh and made to order. That cannot have been easy and I applaud them for the losses they must’ve taken during that time. I am so grateful they are still open! My favorite place to sit is parked in a booth at the back, but I have seen the private dining areas for parties and I’ve seen them push together tables for large groups out in the main rooms. There’s a lovely bar. The restaurant is both family-friendly and good for date night, or for just hanging out with friends. I take my sushi very seriously and think this is the best place in the area for it. There’s a much smaller restaurant in my own town nearby that is near and dear to my heart, but it’s hard to compete with a giant like Shiki Sushi.
We had a party of 10, our family met there for an early dinner/late lunch about 3pm. The restaurant was empty except one person at the bar. The hostess was a nice older lady and looked surprised when we said we had a party of 10. Half of our family wasn’t there yet and instead of seating us (remember not prime time- empty restaurant) she made us wait until they got there. Ok so not a big deal, and a lot of places do it but worth mentioning. Server was great, friendly, and prompt. Although food runners brought all the food and he didn’t ever at any point clear appetizer plates or empty drink glasses. The food was really good. Not amazing “best food I ever had” meal but it was good. So now we are on to the main reason I’m giving a less than favorable review. During our meal 4 people went to the restroom. Not that odd, considering it’s a restaurant. However, while they were in the bathroom the hostess woman went in there! Like all the way in the bathroom. In the men’s room, my bf was in the stall and he said she came all the way into the bathroom- no knock- no announcement- like, “hey I’m cleaning, is it all clear”? Literally she just walks in and starts messing. My sister in law was in the stall in the women's room and the same lady walked in and pushed open the stall door while she was using the toilet. Absolutely rude and uncalled for. My 15 year old was in the restroom and the same woman went in there while she was in there. Let’s also track back to the fact - the place was mostly empty. It’s not like the bathroom was being used by full restaurant and needed paper towels checked. There was no reason for this behavior. Why not just knock and let people exit before cleaning or being in there. Overall, good food. Basic Asian food- nothing special- but tasty and fairly priced for large portions. The music choice didn’t match the ambiance, but not a deal breaker. Side note- I think it’s tacky to sell cheap/fake jewelry at the front entrance. It’s out of place and doesn’t make sense in a restaurant.
We love this place! Bogo sushi rolls, hibachi, delicious range of entrees, appetizers, and soups. List of assorted tea's (theres an organic option 😁), house crafted cocktails, such as the goldfish bowl sized tropical concoctions, we had to try, but I can't remember what they call it lol wonder why. Imported, local, and some generic commercial brands for beer and wine. The local ginger beer I had last time was worth mentioning and recommending, for sure! Parking and inside the restaurant are pretty spaceous(maybe good for large gatherings). The interior design details are asthetically pleasing but not too distracting. I haven't done my research on this part, but since they're located next to a local farmers market, I'd like to think they have access to some of the freshest ingredients as well. All of the food and drinks we've had here have been absolutely fantastic, my compliments to the mixologists and chefs 😘
Every time I go to this place, I like it less and less. It got to the point where I've edited this review to change my rating from 4 to 2 stars. It was never amazing, it was just fine and convenient. However, now the majority of their sushi no longer qualifies for BOGO. So not only is it mediocre, now it's also grossly overpriced. It's a shame to see. At least there are still better options around.
It shouldn’t take me 3 calls to get my order taken just to get put on hold for 10 minutes!!! When asked to speak to a manager The lady that answered the phone hung up. On the third time, they took my order with an attitude. I pull up my food wasn’t even ready, took an extra20 minutes for my food to come out I get to work Check my bag and find no utensils, and no condiments that I have paid for.It shouldn’t take this long to get some food on lunch break!!! Get y’all act together where’s Kyla?
I ate here years ago and it was fine. I'd love to leave more stars but no food was edible. I eat sushi all over the state while traveling for work multiple times a week and this was one of the rare times I couldn't eat it. I took it to go so as not to cause the server anxiety. It was simply salmon nigiri and I ate two just in case I was imagining that it was REVOLTING.
My friend ordered a sesame chicken, or one of those sugared chicken dishes. I tasted it when he refused to eat it - it tasted like microwaved gross rubber chicken that had been slathered in a flavorless sugar glaze.
It's not edible. I don't know what happened but nothing was edible. Which is kinda bare minimum for me.
Used to be a great place when they had the BOGO. Now they raised their prices and have no BOGO on the better rolls.
Madelyn was the best server I’ve ever had!
The worst sashimi and sushi that I have ever had well we ended up throwing it away as we couldn’t eat it the fish was old tasted very fishy ‘ yuck the pieces where thin and the sushi rolls its like where is the fish ? Lots of cucumbers and rice but the fish was very tiny.. overall sad experience the miso soup was salty extremely disgusting and disappointing and not to mention the service is like we where bothering the waiter bad experience
Great experience! Low wait time and good food.
Bartender was great ..
I could not rate the food because I was there for a meeting and did not order anything.
I can say that the service we received and the atmosphere were both great.
Always a good time!
Great sushi!
The service was great the sushi was good as well
Stale sushi, I think it was made last week and kept in refrigerator
Very nice restaurant and sushi was really good.
This is my family's favorite sushi place. It never disappoints
The people on Togo are very nice they helped me look at the deals they had for sushi and was very understanding about what I wanted
If you want sushi it’s a good option. Been here a couple times. The sushi is always very tasty but getting anything else isn’t very good. Tried several different dishes that weren’t sushi and none tasted above just an “ok” level. Waitstaff and manager were very kind when expressing the dislike with the noodles my sister got today though. Overall pretty happy, just making sure to only ever get sushi here.
Great tempura.
It was all really good! Pretty extensive menu, good beer selection (especially for a sushi place) and lots of seating. The shrimp tempura was delightful, the gyoza was good (I've had better) but the rolls were the star. Loved everything we got!
Shiki sushi used to always have a good crowd but after they cut BOGO specialty sushi it's been more and more empty tables with each visit.
Used to be one of our favorite places but doubling the tab overnight was a hard thing to swallow.
I wish they had come up with an alternative. Maybe pricing the simpler rolls as BOGO or doing a bogo1/2 or some sort of deal with a starter. Something to make it feel less drastic.
Overall good sushi, good staff, but no longer wowed.
We got burnt noodles. And we got stiffed on sushi.
terrible food terrible service terrible everything DONT EAT HERE!!
One of the worst managed front staff I've seen in a long time. Stop prioritizing delivery and then making people wait longer. Hostess told us 20 minutes and it became a 45 minute wait. They lied to us and said we took longer to be seated because we were 3 adults and 2 children under 4 yet we were seated in the exact same booth size as a four top. Completely overwhelmed hostess staff. On a good note, we've always had great and friendly service at our table and the good has always been good.
Shiki is always amazing.
The buy one get one rolls are always worth it, but everything food wise is always good.
Been coming here for 10 years and it’s always a good eating experience.
Always like coming here! The bartender, Whitley, was great as well as the sushi and drinks.
My food was fresh. The server was great, and the atmosphere was nice.
DO NOT ORDER THE HIBACHI
I ordered the hibachi, and got a plate of mostly raw green peppers, so I brought it up to the waitress. The manager came over with a very scary mean attitude. She said that this “is STANDARD hibachi that you’ll see everywhere” and that the owner doesn’t allow swapping dishes, but they’ll do it for me just this one time. So I ordered a chicken dish and then found small silver hairs in it. We used to come here all the time, but since the ownership change, the food has gone downhill. I have neverrrr seen hibachi come out like that, and I’ve eaten a LOT of hibachi. Definitely not standard. We’ll be eating at Mr. Tokyo instead.
Our waitress was good, but the food was very slow for a lunch spot. Beware for BOGO sushi - if in a group with automatic gratuity, they calculate the tip on the nondiscounted total. It will double your tip.
Awful experience. The hostess was rude, he was not friendly at all. The food was mediocre at best. Definitely not going to eat here again.
The lunch menu is a bit pricey but you get a ton of food. The service is great.
A regular customer here- the past two times we’ve sat down to eat sushi, we’ve been highly disappointed with the quality of food.
We eat here regularly and have come to love the taste- but what we’ve experienced the past two times wasn’t what we’ve come to love.
Management or food preparation change? I don’t know but it’ll be a while before we come back. We’re looking for other options. Mr Tokoyo?
We love this for place! The sushi, drinks, and food are always delicious.
Good but not my favorite place in this area. Sushi is fair priced and tasted good. It is buy one get one which was really nice. Service was fantastic.
A fun and delicious sushi lunch.
Loved the firecracker roll.
Basic food, slow service.
Food arrived quickly and was prepared nicely. The General Tsao's Chicken is VERY good. The Rainbow Roll is also quite tasty. It's a large restaurant and they tend to sit patrons in the same section until that section is full, so that if the restaurant is only ¼ full, it can still be a bit noisy. The wait staff is friendly and respectful. It is a very good value.
Always been a huge fan of shiki. Everything's at least pretty good and some things are excellent. Prices have gone up a few times recently, but what hasn't?
Tasu House Fried Rice! Accept no substitute.
My favorite thing here is actually the Panang Curry! Always delicious and so flavorful. The sushi is also great.
Felt like I was back in Japan.
Great food huge portions
Shrimp tempura, not properly cooked enough. The manager was rude and arrogant when I tried to explain it made me ill. It's used to be my favorite place, but on my list of places, never to go again!
Awesome as always.
Great food . 1st time here. Will come back
Extremely over priced for what you actually get to eat. Poor quality and a complete waste of my money. Super disappointed.
Definitely the best sushi spot in town 👌
Place is huge with plenty of seating. The food was good and great portions at a reasonable price. The service is quick and servers are polite and friendly.
THIS WAS THE WORST SUSHI IN MY ALL LIFE! I HAVE BEEN BROUGHT OUT OF FRESH SUSHI THAT ALREADY LOST, THEY WERE TERRIBLY PACKED, ALL THE PIECES WERE CUT DIFFERENTLY, THE FISH IS STATED AND NOT PEELED, IT WAS SIMPLY DISGUSTING! I PAID $150 FOR THE ORDER!!! IF YOU COULD RATE 0, YOU WOULD GET IT. THESE SUSHI WERE CLEARLY PREPARED NOT TODAY AND THEY DIFFERENTLY LIKE THE THOSE THAT WAS PRESENTED IN YOUR PHOTOS! YOU ARE LIERS! IT'S A SHAME! I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF I GET POISONING OR WORMS AFTER THIS
Shiki Sushi is one of our favorite places to visit when in Durham. Their buy one free sushi is a great deal. You get a lot of delicious sushi for a good price. They also offer hibachi and other options. I'd suggest the dynamite roll.
I’ve been coming here for a few months now and I want to give the highest credit to Matthew and Elissa for going above and beyond for making us feel so special and at home. Great costumer service and the food is delicious. I will solely only come here for Matthew and Ellissa! Thank you.
Wow my food was amazing !!! I had the house fried rice and the wonton noodle soup ! AMAZING!! Must try !
4 years later after I give this place a 5 I'm very disappointed! USED to be good food but not anymore, the the dish that a got was Hibachi chicken it was just a carbs bomb Rice AND Noodles with a little bit of uncooked vegetables and a little bit of chicken, didn't even get the side salad ,service didn't check how the order was served.
the sushi in the local grocery stores better than Sushi I got there. manager was anything but helpful.
