Delicious Thai Food with a Japanese Sushi Bar
Spicy Shallots is one of my preferred dining establishments in Queens. The happy hour menu offers a well-curated selection of beverages and appetizers. The Duck Curry is an exceptional dish, featuring delectable flavors and exceptional quality. The customer service is also commendable. 10 out of 10
I stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant in the Queen's area and I was blown away by how beautiful and delicious it was! This Thai restaurant gave me so much joy 😍 Every dish I ordered was fantastic!
The staff were all so friendly and accommodating, especially towards children. The prices were reasonable and it's a perfect spot for birthdays and gatherings. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great dining experience.💯
This is our go to since 2016. Even if we moved to maspeth until now it will always be our favorite. The portions and flavors it’s been consistent since then. They also have great selections from the menu. Hopefully they should slow down on prices. I noticed every year the prices goes up.
Spicy Shallot has quickly become my favorite Thai spot in Woodside, Queens. The food is absolutely delicious! I ordered the drunk noodles, which were packed with flavor and had the perfect level of spice. The Tom yum soup was a warm, comforting mix of tangy and spicy, hitting all the right notes. To top it all off, I finished with their Mango sticky rice for dessert, which was simply divine and sweet, creamy, and refreshing. If you're looking for authentic Thai in the neighborhood, this is the place to go!
Spicy Shallot is the best Thai restaurant in Queens and it deserves a a michelin star!I love everything about Spicy Shallot! The food is delicious and the waitress are friendly! The service is fast and affordable!
Me and my family spend almost to two hours at spicy shallot. We were celebrating my 32 birthday!
I order sashimi plate and Thai iced tea!
I love eating sushi at Spicy shallot because it's always fresh and delicious!
Amazing food and service! The food was incredible and the flavour amazing! The duck was phenomenal and the salmon fresh and delicious! Their volcano ice cream was literally a volcanic show in itself. Definitley a great place for a dinner date! I would highly reccomend this spot!
Great food, amazing service.
Great food. Aside from it being extremely crowded, it’s a vibe. This the spot for duck. The curry duck is the best dish there imo. Tender, creamy and crispy. Don’t forget to order a LARGE iced tea; that joint massive and worth it.!
Not that authentic Thai but I loved it .

Love love LOVE this place. Excellent food and drinks. Everything is well prepared and delicious. The staff is always friendly and service is super fast.
Incredible place! I felt a little guilty ordering Sake Don at a Thai place, until my order arrived. Absolutely delicious and so, so fresh!
The service was also top notch. Friendly servers and lightning fast service.
Oh! And don't sleep on the drinks! One of the most delicious cocktails I've had in Jackson Heights.
too salty, small portion and pricey
I was treated well! I ate good 😊 all the dishes and drinks I indulged in were delicious and looked well and tasted great ! I was not disappointed slightly impressed with what was offered and how it was presented especially compared to other spots! Good eats if you’re in the area or looking for a spot try it! I won’t steer you or your palate in the wrong direction!
I ordered a pad see ew with fried tofu and it was too salty and oily. besides the fried tofu, there were some greens but that was it :( I've had better pad see ew elsewhere for the price point.
I used to visit to this place with my friends a lot.
Great food, but the customer service is terrible. Really disappointing.
Amazing food services very l loved
Food amount went down to half the food! Behavior of the manager was terrible when asked he said pay more. San the manager said he doesn’t care whether what we say! Overall the behavior of the staff was bad!
Really delicious food, from staples like Pad Thai to a wealth of things I'd never tried before (but which were really great)
Cozy place with delicious thai food, also serves sushi and a variety of drinks. Highly recommended.
I can’t wait to come back here. The food was so good!! The service was great, and the holiday decor was super cute. You can sit inside or with the enclosed outdoor seating with heaters.
I had the Chicken Cashew Nut. So delicious and the Thai Ice Tea was really good, my friends order another round TO GO.
My friend enjoyed her Basil fried rice and another dish was Chicken Teriyaki.
I didn’t order cocktail drinks but I will next time.
#new fave spot

I love eating sushi at Spicy shallot because it's always fresh and delicious!
Pretty authentic and affordable. Their service was very professional and friendly. The place was clean and comfortable. We ordered basil fried rice and noodle soup with coconut-based curry, both of which tasted very fresh and kicking! Loved the spiciness level. They do have roofed outdoor seatings, one section on the street and another on the sidewalk. Strategically located nearby metro
stations in the Little Thailand part of Queens.
Ive been going to spicy shallot since around 2009 until this Day !!!! Still my favorite goto restaurant when I want good food that I don’t have to worry about it! Quality and great service is always at its best!! The owners are also amazing people!!
Absolutely loved Spicy Shallot in Elmhurst! It’s a cozy spot with a great neighborhood vibe. The Uni Crispy Rice was a standout—huge, fresh sea urchin and tuna on crispy rice with a perfect savory sauce. Loved the Soft Shell Crab Mango Salad too, super refreshing and a good balance with the duck curry. Portions are generous, especially the curry, which is perfect for sharing. Friendly service, relaxed atmosphere—will definitely be back!
The food is very tasty. The waitress are very nice and fast to give you the food.
No somos conocedores de esta comida pero que agradable este lugar es muy propicio para venir en familia son muy atentos todos, esos mojitos súper frescos muy rico el sushi gracias
The best!!!

So so so good!!!
Excelente lugar 🍱
Really like this place , food is not pricey. It is a good place to hang out with friends. Chilling environment 🥰
Ssrvice was bad! To begin with they gave me a dirty table which they did not even clean. The staffs were rude and unattended. I kept waiting for the waitress, to take my order or even ask for something they took forever to get to you even though it was not really busy. Within 5 minutes of my order food was served and it was cold. They gave me someone else ready order which was so unprofessional and unacceptable. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone, do not waste you time and money here. I am very disappointed at their service!
My family and I come here all the time. Literally the best sushi in the world at a reasonable price. I went all around the United States to see if the sushi beats Spicy SHallot, let me tell you it doesnt! Thai food is off the charts and this is one of my favorite restaurant in the world!
This is a favorite for me
This Thai restaurant is a hidden gem, I love coming here with my family. The service can sometimes be a bit disappointing, its been 3 times in which they forget our drinks and they don't bother ask if we are missing something else or even when we do let know they still forget and we get them until we are done with our meals. Another situation that has happened to us is they don't bring all of our meals together, we once had to wait for my parents meals for over 30 min, this was an issue because we don't tend to eat until everyone has their meal. Other than that the food never disappoints and I will keep coming here.
Favorite restaurant in Queens! We’ve been coming here for years. Service, food, atmosphere always excellent. We celebrate every occasion here.
Here you can eat a lot of Thai food and sushi at a very cheap price, very comfortable and warm service. Very happy eating!
the interior is very aesthetic and calm. the spicy drunken noodles were great.
I recently dined at Spicy Shallot and had an overall delightful experience. The ambiance was great, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The service was fabulous with attentive staff who ensured a pleasant dining experience.
For appetizers, I ordered the crispy calamari served with a sweet chili dipping sauce. While it was okay to taste, the highlight of the meal was definitely the crab meat fried rice and the crispy volcano chicken. Both dishes were exceptional in taste, though the volcano chicken was a bit sweeter than I generally prefer, it still did not disappoint.
We also tried the volcano roll from the Japanese menu. It was a good roll, though not particularly special. In comparison, I must say that the Angry Dragon Roll from Matsuri Restaurant in Woodside remains one of the best rolls I've had.
Their chai tea on point da duck rolls is a must da salmon is good da noodles with chicken a lot is 😌 great

Where is Thai food lover?! Highly recommend Spicy Shallot in “little Bangkok” area. Authentic Thai dishes make this place is packed. The variety chose of Thai food and served with generous portions at a low price. The atmosphere is great 😊 All food was delicious and served Super Fresh.
If you like to enjoy thai cousine you have to visit spicy shallot!!!

- Portion with the price 8.5/10 Main dish(lunch special for me)10/10 Dessert 6.5/10 drink 7.5/10
- Vibe 11/10 Thai staff members with good restaurant vibe(not so Thai but great) the Thai songs 🔥🔥🔥🙌🏻🙌🏻
This place is nice and cozy place to eat with friends. My first time here and the food was awesome. The waitress was really friendly and pretty. I must say their street duck was on point! I love this dish . We also had the tamarind duck which had some veggies on the bottom but their sauce was tangy sweet. When eating the duck you don’t have to worry about any bones which I think it’s great for kids. I have ordered a few dishes including the “boat of dreams” which consist of some sashimi and sushi!
For the four of us ladies having lunch ordering 3 main dishes and the boat of dream was so fulfilling. We were all so full. I think I found my new favorite Thai place!
After a bad experience last time, I revisited this restaurant. We tried the BBQ beef, crab rangoon, and chicken pineapple fried rice. The food was good, but the service still disappointed me. While ordering, I realized I couldn't have beer as I needed to drive and asked to change to soda while we were still in the middle of ordering. The waiter, with an annoyed face refused. I was like what do you mean you’re still in the middle of taking our order, i asked for the beer like 10 seconds ago why cant i change it ? He refused and brought the beer anyway which was both surprising and funny to me. I had to let the beer go to waste. I've upgraded my rating to 3 stars from 1, but management needs to address staff training on customer service. My previous review is also in the photos.
Nice little restaurant. The food was tasty and fresh. Sushi rolls were nicely done. Attention from the staff was very nice. A great first date place for sure or a nice dinner spot on the weekend.
Food is ok
We went there on a Saturday around 7ish and it wasn't busy, but by the time we left it was busy. I definitely recommend ordering some appetizers which are Curry Puffs & Calamari. The main dishes were Pad Thai, Crispy Duck Basil & sushi. The food was delicious and served fresh. I'm definitely coming back here when I'm in town.
Beautiful staff, courteous and attentive… Excellent service. Per food servings good for Asian size or portion of meal.
Absolutely worst customer service by a lady!
Was waiting to order, and the lady came and said you been helped I said no, her reply to me was ok! It’s a hospitality and service oriented business, if customers don’t bring you their time and money, just a reminder you are nothing! Be nice to people and try to accommodate!
Great Thai food, spectacular lunch specials - ordered red curry, drunken noodles, and curry puffs - portions were very fulfilling, left feeling very full. Indoor and covered outdoor seating, clean bathrooms, and excellent service from staff :)
I have no complaint about this place food or staff.
The only problem here is the so called manager who is supposed to be a mediator between customers and staff
INSTEAD he is very unwelcoming, rude and has bad attitude.
I was here for my friends Birthday celebration and was looking to order for our drink, when I didn’t notice any server around me I reached out to the manager but he was BUSY on call and ignored us.
So I lightly touched his hand to get his attention so that we could order new food and drinks.
In which he still ignored and left outside. I thought he would call a staff for us but NO!!!
We were left unattended.
Later on he comes to our table and tells us in a very rude way to not interrupt him while he was on call.
Seriously, This is very disappointing!!!
A TOTAL 0 in customer service and communication skills.
I would suggest the owner of this business to have better management.
We have been coming here from long time, as we loved Thai food. Never coming back here to spend a penny anymore.
I RECOMMEND OTHERS to go to other Thai restaurants in this neighborhood there are plenty, whose food is equally good and services are way far better.
I have been hearing a lot of complaints about this Manager lately from others as well which I found to be very true.
Best Thai restaurant in town
Very rude manager. Had a terrible experience. Will never visit this place again.
Manager was so rude to us . Instead of taking care costumer .
Posting because I ordered delivery- asked for no green peppers.
The dish I ordered however was full of jalapeños. Beware.
I appreciate moderate spice but for the price on red curry this was inedible, especially because I did not request extra spicy.
Not funny
Great experience
Wait staff - awesome
Food - hot and delish
Wait times - perfect
Ambiance - lovely
great drinks, better food. definitely coming back 😋👍🏻
*Overpriced Mango Sticky Rice*
I recently visited and was excited to try their mango sticky rice. However, I was shocked to find out that it cost $13 for such a small portion. Even after including tax, the total came up to $15, which I believe is outrageous for the amount of food provided. The taste was decent, but the price definitely did not match the portion size. I would suggest adjusting the pricing to better reflect the value of the dish. Disappointing experience overall.
Very disappointed with the quality of the food at my most recent visit.
Highly recommend this restaurant. One of the best Thai food spots in all of NYC. Food was delicious, must try their drunken noodles with a large Thai tea! The soft shell crab mango salad is great, the crab rangoons were awesome. Their pad Thai is also one of the best I’ve ever had. Staff were super friendly and accommodating. They were super organized and efficient. The atmosphere is great, nice interior as well as exterior designs. Must stop by while in Elmhurst.
it’s a nice atmosphere for a date night and to come with family and friends however i just didn’t like some things in the restaurant. for example the portion of the drunken noodles were little for one person dish because mostly it was veggies… and the sushi i got the wrong order then they gave the right one however $17 for that sushi isn’t even worth it because it’s just basic filling and nothing special about special sushi ? what’s special? tuna and shrimp? anyways they also charged me for spicy mayo $2 be for real. Anyways if i come back maybe on lunch special time not regular. I had better thai other places so this don’t compare with the food.
It was amazing want to come again
Prob one of my favorite thai restaurants in nyc/ in my neighborhood. Food is always great and the prices are reasonable. It’s either I dine-in or order to go or from uber eats. It’s always good. Ive been a loyal customer for many years. I’ve seen the restaurant changed throughout the years but quality of food is still the same except for the price of course. I recommend this restaurant a lot .
One of the best dumpling and red curry I ever had. Atmosphere is beautiful and service was great as well.
Will definitely go again if i am in this area. Highly recommend.
Terrible experience
Food AND Drinks so delicious! Everything comes out quick and fresh. Will be coming back again and again!
The atmosphere is great. The food is okay, but the service is not that great.
We have been regular customers for a long time. We really love their food. But I hate to write that yesterday dinner was the worst experience. We were served cold and stale food. Our 3 entrees came within 5 mins after we placed the order and appetizer was served afterwards. We felt that the entrees were not fresh and felt they were reheated rather than freshly cooked. But we still tipped them 20% as usual.
Muy buena la comida, el sushi con ginger excelente para los que lo prueban por primera vez
I have never tried that kind of food .
However one I get in the place is so confortable. The waitress are so nice with u
The food is so good and tasty . Personally I always go to eat dumplings and pineapple rice. For a beverage I recommend the ice tee. Simply amazing
Just updating my review... about 7 years comming to this restaurant and the taste is the same as the first time here... food , atmosphere , servers and the owners are so kind and friendly ... altho I got to say... the appearance of the restaurante has chance before was nice .. now is even better decorations furniture... even a spot where u can take pictures... honestly this is the best thai restaurant ever ! 5 star is not enough
Absolutely satisfied with the takeout orders I have recently placed at Spicy Shallot. The Pad Se Ew and drunken noodle with chicken were absolutely delectable and exceeded my expectations. I appreciate the authentic flavors that the dishes offer, although I must say they are quite spicy so it's something to be mindful of for those with a low tolerance for heat.
I am looking forward to exploring more of their menu and trying out new dishes on my next order.
We decided to venture in, although it wasn’t our first choice. We were craving some Asian flavors and stumbled upon the charming ‘Little Thailand’ right here in Woodside. We started with some shrimp fried and Tom Kha soup as appetizers, followed by a delightful salmon over rice. The atmosphere of the place is cozy, the service impeccable, and the food exceptional. To accompany, we indulged in a Thai iced tea and a refreshing red sangria. A noteworthy culinary experience! I definitely look forward to returning with more company to share this culinary gem.
I like this place
I like the food
This place is a Gem 💎,I loved all my dishes presentations look at pics and I'm really not moved by food unless taste quality and price are a trifecta. You will look at the outside and be fooled by how nice and clean the place is First date , couples night out this is the one
This place has to be my favorite thai spot in NYC at the moment. The food is incredibly delicious and the service is friendly and quick.
I’ve tried the lettuce wraps (sooooo good with the ground chicken with thai bird chilies, cashews, ginger, lime, and red onions), duck curry, som tum (spicy), crab fried rice, and kra pow. All 10/10. I’m excited to return and try more food🫶🏻💖
Their mango sticky rice is also soooo yummy😍
Little Bangkok has several amazing places to visit. Each has their own special key to fame. Honestly, I think that this may be the reason why this social media cute spot doesn't shine as much as it should.
First, I appreciate amazing customer service. Making sure that customer service is done right means that there has to be a perfect balance between availability, hospitality and utility. When I arrive for dinner with my friend, our servers energy seemed a little frenetic. Upon seating, while we were still taking off our coats and settling in, we were immediately approached with questions about placing orders for food or drinks. After several approaches, we had to just ask for a moment to chill and review the comprehensive menu.
We ended up ordering a mix of vegan and non-vegan dishes. Was rather concerning that some of the vegan dishes still contained non-vegan ingredients. Good thing we knew enough to ask but could be a problem for someone who's less familiar with Thai cooking.
Ended up enjoying a wonderful time catching up with friends. With a few considerations, I could really see this be a great place for locals to frequent.
I had the chicken curry pang curry. It was so delicious. I started with the seafood soup it was a so good., I enjoyed myself very much. Wait staff were very polite and friendly.
Been here twice. The volcano chicken the first time was excellent. The second time around it was nothing but burnt breading. I'll try again at some point 😅
Delicious and spicy food.
Nice vibe inside and outside for seating.
Lady at the counter doesn’t treat customers equally, food is good tho!
Awesome! As always! Duck curry is my favorite 🫶🏼
I've been a regular at this restaurant, always ordering via their app. But now, they've adjusted the delivery zone and I'm suddenly out of range, I'm just 4 minutes away by bike.
Tomyam soup warm and not hot.
One of my favorite restaurants and this is usually my first stop when I'm in nyc. Everything is bomb as usual. The only thing is why did they serve my lychee drink in a boring glass with just 1 lychee when picture was in Mason jar with 3 lychee and I clearly remember getting them before.🤔
ร้านอาหารไทย ที่มีชื่อใน อเมริกา"ย่านไทยทาวน์"Elmhurst มีอาหารรสชาตจัดจ้าน มีเมนูให้เลือกตามชอบ
Been here twice already! My favorite Thai place because of their duck curry. Price isn’t crazy given their big servings. The staff is super sweet and nice as well, especially the host/owner (I’m not sure). Next time, I’ll take pics!
Ambiance is great as well.
Home run.
Great for lunch.
Amazing Thai food for the price!
Place is pretty, nicely located in the corner. Easy parking. I had the red snapper. With a mango salad. The mango salad had an unpleasant taste. Just off. I had to ask the waiter to remove it. So with that in mind I didn't enjoy my meal. 🫣
They do have many patrons. So it maybe my taste buds. I do love thai food. I would be willing to try something else.
I ordered jasmine tea and finally took the taste of the salad out my taste buds.
Food is tasty and waitresses are friendly. Nice Thai food place in queens. I feel like it’s better than others around there.
Haven't been here in a few years. When I did go, I always had the duck basil. I had it again after all this time, and it tasted the same as I remember. It's good to see some restaurants can hold their standards.
Wings are too good !!!
Yesterday we celebrated our Mother's 95th birthday and Morgan and his staff gave my Mother a day of joy. amazement and memories to cherish for the rest of her years.
Thank you, thank you, for the food, the service your patience with a rowdy but very happy group.
And the food was fabulous!!!
Michael and Madhavi Strohl
The food was very sweet like a dessert. I ordered Volcano chicken and Salmon red curry which were very sweet which lacked the overall integrity of Thai food- turned out to be a somber experience. Although the server provided some extra hot sauces and chillies, only to be a lackluster. Perhaps, I will look for other options on the menu in future.
All the food teste sugary. they treat Costomer differently most workers are rude in some way
This truly is a neighborhood favorite but I can't help feeling that the portions have decreased and that is due to everything being expensive. But overall a good place for Thai food. I recommend the tamarind duck!
Muy buen sushi a un super precio, vamos a repetir seguro. Excelente todo!!
I always heard from some of my friends to try Thai Food in here, but today i made it. I'm going with my cousin and her family from Philly to try Thai Food in Queens and the result is So Good. Some minor service still can be tolerate but overall are Very Good. Definately i will be back to try another menu. Good job!
Amazing thai spot filled with delicious foods. Everything i’ve ordered was so good. I definitely recommend coming here for lunch with friends or as a date spot. I had the pork belly, pad thai, fried calamari, volcanic chicken, and the mango fish. 10/10 was so good everything was flavorful. I will DEFINITELY be back!
In my personal opinion.... Best Thai restaurant in Queens. I come here at least 2x a month. The service is great, staff is friendly, decor is modern and very instagram friendly.
I love this place. The inside’s decor is so cute and the food and drinks r great!! Especially the mango smoothieee
I love this place. They are reasonable in price with excellent quality of food. It's the best Thai place ever. They also carry a great drink bar. My husband and I love coming here for a bite to grab, and every time, it makes me crave more. They give a great portion of food. I love their salmon and duck curry. It's the best. The ambiance is great with very friendly staff and the interior is so pretty. I love their floral decor. Street parking is available. Also, they are kids friendly.
This is my second time ordering from this place, first time I ordered drunken noodles and it was amazing but second time I got drunken noodles and the noodles were thin rice noodles not the thick ones as usual. No consistency with this place sadly. The pad thai also looks sad
Great staff, great vibe and great food! Thai ice tea is awesome, and the food is totally delicious!
