Would recommend! Variety of delicious dishes and cocktails. Service/waiter was fast. Atmosphere was very zen. A few items we ordered were: Scorpion Bowl, Blue Hawaiian, I can’t remember the name of the Orange/Yellow cocktail, Crab Rangoon, Rock Shrimp, Shrimp/Lobster Hibachi, Shrimp Hibachi, and Chicken Hibachi. We also ordered Tempura Cheesecake (no picture) and it was tasty, not too sweet.
Also there is a parking lot with lots of spaces.
Doordash order*
- food arrived hot, packaged well! I was a little upset I didn't get a fortune cookie, lol! But that's okay!
Shrimp Tempura Roll & Avo+Cuc Roll 10/10 - delicious, great taste and texture, perfectly wrapped
6 Pieces Crab Rangoon 10/10 - crispy, great texture, perfect amount of filling for me
clear soup was also VERY good.
Lo Mein 6.5/10 good flavor, noodle to veggies ratio seemed a little off. noodles were just ever so slightly overcooked but not by much.
Tangerine Chicken 3/10 - Incredibly wildly dry. really strange texture, almost like it was a couple of days old maybe? just felt like re-heated chicken, and had a slight off taste to me. was not my absolute favorite
Great sushi at a fair price
Our first 'visit' to Tengu Asian Bistro was actually in the form of a home delivery and were extremely pleased with our dinner. Not only do we feel it was a fair price, but the food was also fresh, had great flavor, looked impressive, and got to our house in record time.
We ordered fried dumplings, three different basic rolls and two specialty rolls. Our total came to around $80 which, again, we felt was a fair price especially when you consider the overall experience: taste, presentation, and packaging.
The sushi was so good that this was the first time in a long time that we ate everything that we ordered. There are many reviews raving about their specialty rolls, and we can definitely understand why; they were delicious!
The packaging was amazing is amazing as well. The sushi was so perfectly packed that no matter how bad a delivery person might be, the rolls would be safe. I thought they might end up being a mess once I started opening the containers, but you can see in the pictures that the rolls came out perfectly. Finally, the rolls were rolled tight, so they stayed together when you picked them up.
If you like good sushi, give Tengu a try. You won't be disappointed.
Though they have an advisory sign up stating that they have recently had to raise their prices, their prices are so very reasonable for what you get.
Their beautifully designed interior is gorgeous and sets the mood for the food. There is plenty of seating and it's very comfortable.
The waitstaff are very polite and fast, they gave an appropriate amount of time for us to decide on food and properly took our order down.
It felt like just a few minutes later, we had our food. I was just getting done with the starter salad and the main dishes arrived.
Though it was quick, the order was also correct, and very delicious!
We ordered the Shanghai noodles and the yellow curry.
Both were excellent.
Highly recommended.
Wow wow wow! I am from Delaware and found this place on google. I must say I am not easily impressed when it comes to food but my food from here was great. I got the spicy crab roll it was goid and my shrimp and beef lo mein was delish. I wasnt dry and had a fair amount of both meats. Also priced very reasonable.
Sushi is fresh and food is consistently delicious. The atmosphere is great for dining in and the delivery service is wonderful. Food always arrives hot and packaged separately from sushi(cold foods). Staff is always friendly.
Went with my friends (not the same race as me) and as the waitress is serving us our food, she sets down and lists everyone’s order as waitresses usually do but when she set mine in front of me she just slapped it down and didn’t say anything:) it was super quiet and the waitress was also peeking over the corner every 5 minutes so it just made the experience super unwelcoming:(
I don’t live in the area anymore but whenever I come home we always stop here. My favorite place for Asian cuisine in the capital region
Good food, friendly service. Will be coming back :)
Solid choice for Asian cuisine. I've never been disappointed.
This place is a hidden gem, I would highly recommend the shrimp Thai curry. We also had a lot of the appetizers which were fresh and taste great.
Pretty good food and service
The food is delicious, full of flavor, and beautifully presented.
the staff was friendly and helpful. definitely coming back soon!!
Been going to this place for years. The sushi is always fresh and made quickly. Pad tai and spring rolls are a family favorite. Never had a bad meal and the staff are friendly and polite.
This is the best Asian meal I've ever had.
Food sucks. Speed sucks. Service sucks.
It’s really good rolls. The best roll have eaten.
Love eating there staff are great
Absolutely disgusting! I asked for compensation on my water because I found a dead insect in my drink and the lady who took our order refused to give me a compensation and dismissed me by saying we could go somewhere else.
Food was delicious willing to eat there again when back in Albany .
This is a nice quiet bistro with great food. I had their chicken and shrimp Pad Thai and it was very flavorful. I recommend this place!
Good food and service.
Great taste
The food is excellent, the etymology of the word sushi is brought to fruition here. However, there's not enough staff to take your order when in a rush. Nor are there enough staff to address the issue: a horrible sticky film covers every inch of the restaurant.
I love vegetarian sushi & this place delivers with a number of vegetable only options. They also have a good selection of other items. Overall it was a pleasant environment with delicious sushi.
The food was meh, the service was meh the atmosphere was dirty
Food amazing, place is clean and very nice, got the kindest service. Would go again.

It's pretty expensive, but quite good!! They don't have combination meals, so a General Tso's Chicken with fried Rice is about $20 dollars. But there is almost no filler in the General Tso's, mostly chicken! And excellent flavor!! My daughter loves the veggie lo mein, and we both enjoy the avocado cucumber rolls.
Rolls were delicious, made fresh. Hibachi was not great. Steak and scallops were tough and way over cooked. Shrimp was good. Service was horrible. Dinners came out first, then Rolls, soup was forgotten- we had to ask for it at the end of dinner. $96+tip later, we will not return.

I ordered the chicken hibachi. It’s essentially chicken with mixed vegetable at the best. The chicken was so hard and not appeared to be fresh. The dish was so salty with heavy brown sauce even when asked for low salt. Not sure about other dishes , I am very disappointed with the quality of what I ordered. The miso soup was off too. These certainly have nothing to do with Japanese food let alone the poor quality. I will never go back
Nice place for a quick lunch 👍👍
We stayed at the Springhill Suites and walked over not expecting much. What a delight from the pleasant server to the outstanding food! We got the sushi nachos, beef negimaki, tengu chicken wings, Mapo tofu don and the shrimp/veggie tempura, Yaki udon. Every single item was outstanding. The sushi at the next table looked incredible but we just couldn’t fit anymore food! Price was very reasonable especially considering the quality.
This place is so nice. The waitress was so nice and attentive. The food was soo good, good portion and definitely not overpriced , specially for this economy that we are dealing with, very good size portions. A lot of option for a vegetarian like my self and the waitresses was very helpful when I had any food ingredients concerns. Definitely will be coming back. Highly recommend
Good food - good service - clean
Very good lunch and dinner specials. Quiet and dark inside. Sushi is priced well.
The sushi was great, my friend loved the pineapple fried rice and the waitress was very nice!
I ordered Pad Thai. It was terrible. The noodles were so sweet I felt as though I was eating a desert rather than an entree. The atmosphere was weird! The whole place has many windows but each window you couldn't look out of. I'll never go back there again and I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I LOVE TENGU!!!
My office orders from here weekly. Everything is cooked fresh, it’s better than your local Chinese take out.
Inexpensive and Large portions
Order ready in 15 mins and fast delivery.
The very best sushi place in Albany, hands down!! Their portions are nicely sized. Great presentation. The staff is friendly and helpful! Good prices for sure! The tofu is heavenly! Try their hibachi rice, it is the best I have had ANYWHERE! AND I've tried a ton of hibachi places. The tap water has a funk to it though, get tea or something instead.
This place is great. Food is different (for the better) than what I’ve had at other Asian restaurants.
Highly recommend!!
Placed a order for pick up,everything was delicious. We will definitely be back to dine in.
Our favorite sushi spot in Albany. The rolls are consistently great! There are plenty of dinner options as well, including pad Thai and drunken noodles that are both fantastic. The food is all very affordable which is a big reason why we love this spot. Even with its affordable price point there is no sacrifice in quality. The drinks are also very reasonably priced, the only downfall is that the bar has a somewhat limited menu
This place. You can’t beat the prices and the quality and quantity you receive. They also have the best egg roll ever. I’ve never had anything other than delicious and fresh from Tengu. Hands down my favorite hibachi - I haven’t gotten the chance to eat in but I order it delivered (Uber eats) quite often. Man they are FAST too. I also like that they have combos and lunch hibachi. Thank you tengu I love you.
Many restaurants come in and out of that spot pretty quickly the past decade so I've been anxious to try them out because of that but I got coupons in the mail so wanted to give it a shot. Staff were SO friendly and kind, atmosphere was welcoming and clean, wait time was reasonable and prices are 😍 😍 😍 I got 6 items for about $20. I haven't eaten so much that I felt sick from being full and still wanted more in a long time now and that definitely happned with this food 😍. I'll definitely be a repeat customer and so will the rest of my family, but next time we will dine in so I can see the cool tree more lol 😍
The sushi menu is outstanding, but the kitchen menu is limited.
I enjoyed lunch with my young daughter and mother today. It was a calm and delicious meal. I appreciated the vegetarian options. I brought home the pad thai spicy with tofu for dinner to share with my husband and we are loving it!
My boyfriend and I arrived at about 6:20 on a Tuesday we didn't stay long. We got inside there were two workers. A man at the front booth where you wait to be seated and a woman behind the bar. We stood right next to this man for 5 mins. He didn't look at us when we came in he didn't look when we spoke up and said "I wonder why it's taking taking so long to be seated in an empty restaurant. Then more people came in to be seated, he didn't acknowledge them either. Next thing we know the only two people in the restaurant are now complaining. The man tells the woman at the bar how his girlfriend steak was raw. She argues with the man that the steak is done to medium. He tells her no its completely raw, that's about when we walked out and decided to never try that spot again.
I ordered a fried rice with chicken, but it was too salty for me. The friendly staff offered me to make another portion. The second portion was ok
Great food
Nothing in the tasted outstanding won’t be going back
Great food
One of my go-to Japanese restaurants.
We ordered 2 orders of general tso's chicken. We paid extra for white meat. We got the stringiest, nastiest inedible meat. I swear, it was also spoiled. They don't care about anything but lining their pockets, apparently.
Sushi was just ok.
Customer service and the flavor of our takeout was good but unfortunately the shrimp tempura and the vegetable lo mein we got was a little too oily compared to other locations.
I did take out and love the food
Horrible experience here. They forced you to tip 18% but provided zero service.
Great food, fast service. Will be back !!
the best sushi lunch and bento box in the area
There's a lot of things going wrong at Tengu, Their prices have changed and may items are no longer available, but they have not purchased new menus, the prices and some entire items are whited out and written back in. Also unfortunately, the sushi is not good. The fish is sliced far too large, sushi is not a "more is better" food, it should be delicate. Each piece was at least 2 bites, and even then my mouth felt stuffed with fish.
Probably better to stick with sushi items
The service was excellent, the sushi I couldn't rave about more and the staff was super friendly and cool.
Really great food and service.
Awful. We used to order weekly, food is awful, no one helped us on the phone. Just terrible
If you're looking for a wonderful dinning experience, Tengu is the place!
I go here 1-3 times a week. Food is always incredible. Never disappoints. Food comes hot and fresh no matter if its takeout or delivery. Prices are fair for the quality and they have a variety of amazing food. I highly recommend checking them out.
Great food, never been disappointed
Ordered based on the great reviews…
Had spicy salmon rolls, very bland, lots of tempura flakes. Hibachi chicken and shrimp was sweet (weird, more like teriyaki) overcooked, and very dry. The squash tasted like it was uncovered in the refrigerator for days. Rice and noodles bland. Hate to trash a place but the glowing reviews are either outdated or dishonest.
A wide variety of different foods. They also have a pretty good lunch special that goes until 2:50 p.m. the waitress was a little pushy when I first went in But as time went on she was able to open up and be more friendly. The food is fresh and not too greasy you. There is a lot of specials on drinks where you can even get drinks for $2 including alcohol. It is a very hidden and lucrative spot so I don't think there's much traffic that comes through.
Ordered veggie pad Thai and it was basically $13 for a bowl of noodles. I wish it would have came with actual veggies. Not a great pad Thai.
Very empty
I got the spicy crab roll, shrimp tempura, and gyoza. Everything was incredibly bland and tasteless except the gyoza which were too salty. I actually questioned if I had covid because of the complete lack of flavor. I have no idea how this restaurant has such a high rating, it’s incredibly misleading especially because the presentation looks appealing. I have had better sushi from my school cafeteria than this. The pricing for the taste and portion is definitely not worth it. Do not recommend.
Food was delicious. I absolutely would recommend this place.
Good Asian food and sushi.
I was really craving sushi and I looked at reviews around where my work was in Albany and I found Tengu. I walked in around 2pm so definitely not peak hours. The server was very friendly and she seated me. I ordered crab Rangoon, sushi sampler appetizer, and unagi don. The crab rangoons were decent. I was served the sashimi sampler rather than the sushi. The sashimi was ok but not what I ordered.
I was extremely disappointed in the unagi don. This is one of my favorite dishes. I saw the sushi chef behind the counter and I heard the microwave ding and saw as he took microwaved unagi and arranged it on top of the rice. It was rubbery and I really had to force myself to eat it and I still couldn’t finish.
I paid in full and tipped the waitress but all in all I would not recommend this place if you are looking to get decent sushi. A real disappointment.
Food was great! Service wasn’t the best…. Had to wait 5-10 for everything (including napkins, straws, refills). Overall the food is definitely worth it.
Great staff and the food was delicious! Loved the sushi ♥️🍣
Great place for lunch bento boxes, and very good quality.
Good food, wide selection for all, nice atmosphere
Rude delivery driver, I order food to be delivered to my work place and he was rude and unprofessional. I personally won’t be spending my money here again.
Food was Great! 100$ order for delivery. No soy sauce? Come on!!
Underrated great Asian cuisine! The curry was not like Indian but amazing nonetheless. The General tso's was crispy and perfectly season with hints of orange and anise. The sushi platter was flawlessly executed! I will be making this a must stop when craving Chinese/Japanese or other Asian dishes.
Food was pretty good, service was decent, the decor was really nice but the bathroom smelled horrible
One of the 3 orders wasn't fresh.
Their food quality is amazing! Absolutely love their sushi and drunken noodles 😩
Really good food
The outside appearance leaves you wondering what it even is but inside is so pretty, quant and comfortable. We were seated immediately the place was empty and I have no idea why. The food was INCREDIBLE!! The mongolian beef is so tender and so perfectly seasoned. The best gyoza ive ever eaten. My husband had a fantastic roll and he absolutely LOVED IT. We will be back again and again. Thanks tengu!
Hand to god this is the best sushi I’ve ever had…. And at such an amazing price point!! 5.5 dollars for INCREDIBLE gyoza and $7 for the freshest tasting salmon avocado roll ever…. PLEASE skip P.F. Chang’s and come here lol. Seriously all the food is so good.
Absolutely amazing food and service.
First time ordering here, got the Spicy White Tuna Roll & Miso Soup as a test. Food is very very yummy and I 100% plan to order from here again. The best sushi I've had yet up in NY honestly!
The miso soup was very tasty and honestly was so warm and great.
The Spicy White Tuna Roll was spicy enough and had a perfect mix of everything; rice, seaweed, tuna, spice, etc.
10/10
Last minute dinner choice while in Albany. Could not have chosen a better place. Great service, great food. Rock Shrimp exceptional. As was Tuna Tataki. Shrimp Shumai ordinary but tasty. Specialty Roll “Cougar” was outstanding. The Classic Mix as good as it gets. Both rolls of significant size - almost too big. But delicious. Had to have the Tempura Cheese cake to finish up off. Will certainly come back when in the area.
Food was amazing
I've given this place so many chances, my co workers love it. BUT Unfortunately I have to say AVOID THE SUSHI AT ALL COSTS. Every time I've had sushi from here (5x) it's been TERRIBLE. I don't think I've ever had the sushi taste fresh. The texture of the fish is off and there's not a whole lot of taste to it, so it just sits in your mouth as a tasteless bland slimy thing. the fish is also consistently too warm from being packed in with the miso soup (which wasn't very good either). This isn't a one time thing either, the sushi is ALWAYS really bad. My order today was a waste of money, I ate maybe half of it, threw out the rest, and saved the godzilla roll for later because the fish made my stomach so upset. Waste of 20 bucks. I will say that the hibachi and kitchen food is good. This is definitely not a sushi place though, I'll be giving up on this spot all together.

If you like good sushi, give Tengu a try. You won't be disappointed.
After moving to Albany mid-last year, I can say that Tengu is the best Chinese/Japanese food I’ve had here!!! My fiancé and I order atleast once or twice a month. Food is always super fresh and hot, sushi perfect every single time! One of our fave spots in the area so far. Love Tengu!!!!
Good takeout, great portion size, always fresh and prompt service.
So far only ordered a salad, it was the best crisp lettuce I had. The avocado was completely fresh too. Just forgot to have them cook the meat but that was my fault for not telling them. I completely recommend. Quick service too.
Delicious food and wonderful service!
The Beef Negimaki and wings were awesome 👌. The service was great 👍. Thank Y'all!
Delicious food! Their cocktails are great too.
Friendly service. Food was just underwhelming. Looked good but the sushi rolls were too big for my liking. (Almost like putting too much meat in a sandwich, same thing). Miso soup also isn’t anything “sPecIAL”…. Actually was “tERribLe”
Only restaurant I know that you can’t order sauces from on doordash and when I ask for them they have no clue what I’m taking about . Yum yum sauce is common in Asian food and for them to deny it to my driver and claim they don’t know what it is when it’s clear as day in the Uber eats site but I already ordered from DD ! They need to step up there knowledge game
So my first couple of times eating food from this place was good. I ordered online for my lunch break and I got the rainbow roll (pictured) and the next day an Alaska roll and California roll. The rainbow roll had big ole chunks of fish which was appreciated. Spicy Mayo was good.
The only problem I had, which is kind of big, is the pieces were way to big. So every time I ate a piece, my whole mouth was full and I was literally stuffing my face and had to open my mouth as much as I could in order to get it in. Make your jokes lol. Other than that, it was a good tasting roll.
The Alaska and California roll were a good normal size and tastes very good. The wasabi was not spicy at all in my opinion. I had to really load it on a piece in order to taste it. One thing I LOVE is that they use very little rice. That's a big deal for me. And the miso soup is very good. Good sushi place
This was my first order from Tengu. The online order form is easy to use, no bells and whistles, pick up was easy, the dining area is lovely, and I got 15% for paying with cash. I haven't had sushi in several months and the volcano roll hit the spot! Will definitely return.
This place is great. Absolutely love the handrolls and appetizers. Everything is good
When I say that this place is amazing I wish I was over exaggerating one day my friends and I decided to order in from here and I’m so happy we did. We’ve been obsessed ever since. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve ordered the hibachi selections from here. It’s soooo yummy. And it’s still hot and fresh even after waiting 20+ minutes for it to be delivered. Please do t get me started on their sushi rolls. 100/10 I definitely recommend. A couple of friends and I are planning to go to Tengu in person to sit down and eat and I already know the experience will be amazing. Can’t wait :)
The chicken does not look visually appealing but it was very good ! The best thing on the plate honestly, the vegetables were wayyy overcooked , Same with the noodles, the rice was flavor less but hAd a nice crisp to it. I personally would not order again but overall the food wasn’t terrible it’s a strong 4/10
THE BEST SEAFOOD SOUP I EVER HAD AND THATS SAYING ALOT !! ENJOY !!!
Kitchen, lady cook not friendly.Very abrout.food okay.
I refuse to order Asian food for take out or delivery anywhere else. This is hands down the best Asian delivery you’ll find in Albany.
Very flavorful and the vegetables are fresh. The sauces were thick and not overpowering.
Vegetarian sushi was great ♡♡♡
Eh... so the service was ok. Honestly could've been better, same goes for the food. Average.
The food was delicious. Our meals included fresh vegetables and wonderful seasonings. The presentation added to the overall experience.
Incredible atmosphere, delicious food made according to specification, prompt service, and most impressively was the speed. I think my dishes were ready and on the table maybe five minutes after I ordered. Despite their sign about price increases, their prices were quite reasonable. Best NY eating experience on our trip so far.
