Bringing authentic Thai cuisine to the New Jersey menu for a very yummy experience.
I absolutely liked and would recommend this place to anyone craving some Thai food.
Found this place on Friday evening - luckily they’re open till 10pm. I ordered 3 appetizers and 1 entree to share. My favorite appetizer was the Pulled Pork Bun, but everything we ordered was tasty. Portions were very fair for the price and we didn’t wait long + The waiters that helped us were kind and kept checking on us if we needed anything or were satisfied with the food as it was coming.
Hands-down to their service 🙌🏼.
I will certainly return to try more goodies from here.
Moved from nyc. Trying to find decent Thai food in the area. Gave this place a try. The basil fried rice tasted like Uncle Ben’s Cajun rice. The rice was overcooked and had ingredients not in the dish. This 100% was an end of night reheated dish with basil added to it. Unfortunate since the curry was the more flavorful that we have had in the area. The drunken noodles were dry. Very disappointing.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Aroy-D, The Thai Elephant in Verona, New Jersey, on a cold and windy February evening. I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with my meal and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for delicious Thai cuisine.
To start, we ordered the fried tofu appetizer, which was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was served with a flavorful peanut sauce that perfectly complemented the tofu. It was a great start to the meal and definitely whetted my appetite for the main course.
For my main course, I opted for the tofu drunken noodles, which were simply divine. The noodles were perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of spice. The tofu was well-seasoned and added a nice texture to the dish. It was definitely one of the best noodle dishes I've had in a long time.
We also ordered the veggie curry, which was a delicious blend of vegetables and spices. The curry sauce was rich and creamy, and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. It was a great complement to the noodles, and I was pleasantly surprised by how filling the meal was.
For dessert we split the mango sticky rice, it was delicious and beautifully garnished with a strawberry.
Overall, I had an amazing dining experience at Aroy-D, The Thai Elephant. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. If you're in the Verona area and looking for some delicious Thai food, I highly recommend checking out this restaurant. I give it 5 stars!
Be careful with the spicy level!!! We came back for the dream place after moving. As usual, We ordered drunken nooodle for mild and Pad Pak. However, the noodle is much spicy than before and Pad Pak is too salty. A bit disappointed since we travel back particular for this place. Not sure if they charge the chef, just be careful if you are not tolerant with spicy
I got take out from DoorDash, the pork bun was good. But the paper they used to separate it is terrible. It stick to the bottom completely and in order to not eat paper, most of the bottom bun has to be removed.
The pineapple fried rice with chicken lacks flavor and has odd ingredients. The chicken is dry. No mention of raisins in it online, and there’s huge pieces of broccoli… which also wasn’t directly mentioned. I really wanted to like the food but it’s definitely not the best by a long shot.
We both really loved the food. Coming from Europe I am having a bit of a hard time with American food. Many dishes just tastes fatty and salty. But not here. Fresh ingredients, real spices and real flavor. Will come back!
We’ve been coming to this restaurant for years, so it’s overdue for a review after a delicious lunch with too many amazing menu items to choose from for just one sitting. We have followed this family-owned and operated establishment since the days when they were a food truck, then they moved to a small place on a side street in Verona and now at the current bigger location. This is authentic Thai food of the highest quality, and it has never declined over all these years.
The pad thai has true flavor, not excessively sweet. If you want something sweet, the sticky rice is perfect. Pad see ew noodles are fantastic, as are the curries. Amazing veggie dumplings and spring rolls, and saving the best for last…the shrimp buns- lightly breaded and fried whole shrimp on a fluffy open bun with a lightly spicy mayo based sauce…you have to go just for these alone!
Also the ambience is great - big rounded windows let in plenty of light to contrast with the exposed brick. Plus the service is friendly. We really love this place.
Great food!

Ordered won ton soup via Uber Eats. $11.50 I was expecting at least a quart but received a cup. Just expensive, soup was excellent, however.

My husband and I love Thai food and I wish I could give it a better rating. In my humble opinion they should stay within the status of a food truck provider. The food was less than mediocre, one could taste MSG additives in every dish we ordered and it was simply not to par with the Thai cuisine. The venue was not clean nor cozy as some of the customers claimed. This was a truly inferior experience. We would never come back.
Ordered online years ago and the options were no spice dare or even hotter. Ordered dare and threw it out. Told them as I was quite confused why the mildest option was not able to be eaten.
Had a craving a month or so ago and ordered no spice as the app was still not giving other option. told them that the app was still like this years later. He said he’d look at it and gave me some spices and said order mild. It was terrible spice to add it helped.
Tried one more tonight and asked for mild. Spice level is way off. Threw it out. Chicken is also very dry.
Also not good parking.

Cool Thai spot with good food and people. Definitely worth it and will go again.
Great food and service love the pad Thai and pineapple fried rice. Ordered the coconut juice and was so refreshing with coconut meat inside
Great food. Spice is perfect. Staff/owner is friendly and attentive.
Delicious 🤤

I LOVE this place. Good food for a great price and awesome customer service. I have taken everyone here!
Great Thai food, reasonable prices. Byob. They have Great 🍨 ice cream. Family ran and always thoughtful.
Bathroom was so filthy I left my tea at the table and did not order. Anyplace whose bathroom is so dirty must care little for kitchen cleanliness
Delicious papaya salad, tofu and spring rolls, the coffee was too strong I couldn’t drink it, overall not bad
Food was average. Too sweet for Thai food
Great Thai good. Good service. Nice atmosphere. Relaxing environment.
Order was never delivered, restaurant refused to help.
Excellent food and service.
Our food is always delicious when we come here. Our waiter, Jed, made our most recent experience even better. He was helpful, kind, quick, and attentive. Highly recommend Thai Elephant- ask for Jed!
Best Thai food in the area! We get take out a few times a month. Never disappointed
I absolutely liked and would recommend this place to anyone craving some Thai food.

The staff is super friendly and the menu is delicious, driven past this place so many times and finally tried it and I wish I had gone sooner. It's on Bloomfield Ave so good luck with parking but it's worth the walk
Food was really good and the staff is so sweet and friendly. The decor and ambiance are really nice as well. They ran out of ice cream which was a bit sad, but still a 5 star experience. Parking on Bloomfield Ave is rough, plan to walk a bit in case there is no spot nearby.
My first Thai experience and it was BEAUTIFUL.
The Curry Soup, Rice with Shrimp and Chicken Skewer were Awesome 🤩
After trying around, this is definitely my #1 place to eat Thai food. Service is great, and food is always perfect!!
This was the worst Thai food we ever had. We ordered the Pad Thai and Spicy Basil, both with chicken. The Pad Thai tasted like excessive peanut butter was used and it was quite sweet. The Spicy Basil was not spicy at all. In fact I thought it was more like a chicken in garlic sauce from a Chinese take away. The chicken was overcooked and tough. Overall they skipped out on some of the usual spices you would find in Thai cuisine. I will never go back there. I do not know how they have a rating above 3.
I have a crippling addiction to panang curry, and the hand rolled ice cream is so good. Service is so nice, and it's just a great place to bring friends and talk, or on a date.
Food was good. But they got the order (take out) wrong even though it was spelled out on the receipt. Not friendly.
The fried rice showcased a harmonious blend of sweet, salty, and tasty notes.
Went with my friends because I have been here before and we were very disappointed with the way they treated us. The waitress took too long to come to us and ask us for drinks and we were the only ones there. Then when I asked to open the wine bottle we brought and she made a face of frustration, then she placed the glasses on one side and did not even place them on each customer that is usually what you expect. Everything else was the same. The way she placed the dishes; she was not friendly at all. Last thing, the food was not incredible.
We recently ordered catering for our Annual Family Reunion and everything was very well received!! The food was delicious, a big hit, and we appreciated the service putting the order together carefully and professionally. The red curry is my personal favorite! Would definitely recommend, and would definitely get catering here again!
The place is beautiful and the food smells that come from the kitchen is basically a pregame for your plate.
Fresh ingredients, spice level to your liking, without sacrificing flavor. The scale of spice is fantastic. Only a half a dare or so should do it.. excellent service!
Favorite Thai food place in north Jersey! Never been disappointed!
Great Thai food!

Went here for a girls night out. Really great veg options and super friendly service. Definitely recommend.
The food is always so delicious every single time I eat there!!❤️
I came here for a date night and had an excellent experience. The waiter was on point and, even changed the music to enhance the mood. 10/10 will definitely be coming back!
This is a fantastic restaurant. Good food, cozy, great service, and BYOW!! I get together with friends for happy hour (we bring the alcohol!). The prices are more than reasonable too. I've been going to Thai Elephant for years, even before they moved to this new location. They are great!
Delicious Pad Se Ew to go. FAST!
Not only was it my first time ordering here but my first time having THAI all together! This food is delicious to say the least!!! I enjoyed every last bit! The crab ragoon is amazing and the Phad thai! So delicious!!!
Excellent restaurant. Great service, tasty food, reasonable prices and parking was also easy to find.
We ordered our food for a 6:30pm delivery. We have young children that need to go to bed and it’s now an hour past our scheduled delivery and no food. I called and left a voicemail and then called again. Someone finally picked up and said our order went out with six orders in another town. No apology or anything.
Loved it! Great food and service.
So good! The pad kee mao was the best I've ever had and the service was wonderful. My favorite local Thai place has competition now.
Food truck was awful. Unsure about their onsite location to be fair
Had the Pad Thai with tofu last night. The tofu was so chewy, dry and overcooked it was inedible. Like it was cooked hours before and reheated. My wife loved her Massaman curry.
Never had a problem here before, but this was incredibly disappointing at the price.
It’s my first time here. Really loved their green curry :) also love the ambience and the very courteous staff. Would definitely recommend this place and I’m sure I’d be a regular here. 👍🏻
So apparently this restaurant had a food truck outside of Montclair High School some years back. My colleagues suggested we go here in between meetings on late night at the school. great suggestion.
The best Panang Curry I have ever tasted, sweet with a slow progressing heat that kicks in just as your slurping the last few drops of that deliciously creamy masala.
My colleagues tried the pad Thai, and shrimp with drunken noodles which they raved about.
We all tried the curry puffs and chicken satay.
The food was just done right in every way and I especially appreciate the suggestions from the staff on the traditional preparations of the dishes.
I will definitely eat here many more times.
Came in here for my fiance bday. With 7 more people. My fiance picked this place because of their gluten free options. Unfortunately even tho she requested gluten free. After eating the meal she quickly realized it wasn't. She is now in the hospital due to pain from it not being gluten free. Their carelessness cost her pain. Not returning
1st time here. There was 1 other table with guesses beside us. Our drinks were only refilled once before the food come out.
I ordered Pork Spicy Basil, Thai spicy. It looked and smelled delicious. There were a lot of sauce in the dish compared to other Thai restaurant and the sauce had a really rich flavor. I felt that the vegetables were a little bit over cooked. The pork looked really good. But pick it up, it was stiff as a board, tough to chew, and dried. Even the wonderful sauce could not help it.
My friends have other dishes with chickens. They said the chickens were dried. They love the flavors though.
Maybe this was one of those bad days.
Maybe the best Thai in North Jersey. Call to reserve always since it’s a small place and you’re not guaranteed a table. If you ask for something extra spicy, they’ll ask for a number 1-10; 8 is blazing hot. The service is very friendly and they take requests, they did a Thai basil fried rice for us for example which is not on the menu. Leave space and time for rolled Thai ice cream. They have traditional flavors and more American ones.
Excellent customer service
Will gladly change when issues are addressed... Good food, IF you can wait an hour or so to get it.
Need to dial the place a dozen times before the phone is answered.
Manned by teens not professional staff.
What was a small place with great food now turns me away because.... I have to wait for 2 hours to eat it!
It's BYOB so bring lots of it! You'll have plenty of time to get sober.
... I have returned for take out. Happy to have gotten my take out in less than 30 minutes! Might have to return to ordering from there.
Aroy-D catered a party at our home over the weekend and everything was terrific from the service to the food. I highly recommend!
This was my first time here. I was in the area and went on Google to find top rated restaurants nearby. I love Thai food and this one look really cute and quaint with great menu options so I decided to stop in.
The staff was attentive and kind, they acknowledge you and let you know they will be right with you.
I ordered the Crab Stack and the spicy basil chicken. The food was so flavorful I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The absolute best Thai restaurant hands-down in terms of food, and service. I have been ordering from this restaurant for years and I have a seafood allergy and everything always arrives perfect. I had an issue with a delivery company and the restaurant noticed right away and contacted me and made everything right. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant more
This is the best Thai restaurant I've been to in New Jersey.
The service 100
The food 100
The Thai Elephant is an excellent establishment. The food is absolutely wonderful and the service is immaculate. The staff treats us amazingly and are so kind. To be specific, one woman remembers me every time i go and knows exactly what i want. Truly amazing people, 10/10 recommend!!!
Orders takes a long time .estimate of 15-30 minutes becames an 45 minutes. I ended up waiting for another 15 minutes. Annoying.
I love all the appetizers!!!!!!
This place is not something I'd get again, but I'm giving it another star because we don't feel sick after eating it. The drunken noodles are incredibly salty compared to others I've had. The wonton soup was okay, but it wasn't better than cheap Chinese food wonton soup, and it was 10 dollars for a small. I was very underwhelmed by this. The garlic chicken is so dry, that it feels like they forgot to put a sauce with it. It's so unfortunate because this is all we have for dinner tonight. It's so little food that we're going to have to supplement it with food we cook ourselves from the fridge, and we spent 82 dollars on it.
If you get food from here, eat it *in* the restaurant so that you can get your orders fixed or exchange it for something else when you ultimately don't enjoy what you ordered.
~Restaurant does not serve halal meat~
This restaurant also has a rolled icecream section attached to it called Icecream Thai'm (lol icecream time, get it?). The taste of the drunken noodles was different than other thai places because the base of the sauce was similar to Tom Yum soup which has a tomato-like taste to it. Although I didn't like how it tasted with the noodles, the sauce went very well with the assorted vegetables, especially the broccoli. The restaurant is only a block or two away from a beautiful park, Verona Park, with a playground, lake, and paddleboats.
We ordered delivery and while the food was good, the sauce from one thing, a big part of the dish, was missing. They said it would be 45 min until it could be delivered, and by then the food would be cold, or we could come by and get it. We had already paid for delivery, so going to pick up what they missed makes the delivery pointless! They did not offer a refund for the dish or anything.
I’ve eaten here a number of times over the last few years, it looks like they have moved to a bigger location which is very nice! I associate them with very spicy levels of food and the flavors are good as well. My go to Thai dish in general is their spicy basil (pad krapow), and they tend to have a darker sauce.
Their single “dare“ heat level is probably equivalent to the “hot” level of many other places.
Also maybe this is because I am not as familiar with the new location, but I was not able to easily figure out parking and ended up finding it on a side street nearby.
Come try this place if you like spicy Thai food!
Got the drunken noodles and they were really bad. Noodles too soft and the sauce was just sriracha. Overall a bad experience with all the dishes
Been many times and always tasty
I've been scheduling their food truck the last few years at a few locations for the company I work for and everyone loves them! Their food is great and their customer service even better. I would highly recommend trying them out!!!
Food was great staff are friendly . Service are amazingly fantastic. That's why even it's more than 30 minutes from us we drive it. It's worth it.
This was my first time ordering. Food came exactly on time. Food was hot and extremely delicious! Normally when I ask for extra spicy I don't get it. Even when I tell the people I'm a super spicy fan. They made it just the way I like it! I was very happy. Definitely will order again.
Love the food!
First timer with Thai food and curry. I was impressed with the décor and atmosphere.
I was a little timid trying out new food, but I'm so glad I did.
Dumplings were out of this world. I had the
Chicken Rama and wow is all I can say.
I will go back to try some more items on the menu.
While I did not visit their restaurant, I did have their food from their food truck that was giving out food to the people of Manville. I have to say that the Food is great. It was a nice change of pace from MRE that I been eating. Thank you for severing Manville in our time of need.
Great service / very friendly staff. I walked in on a Friday night , first time giving this place a try and they were very accommodating having a toddler. I ordered the red curry , so good! I will def come visit again!
Great Thai food, large portion sizes and very clean. Had a wonderful experience.
Large portions at fair prices, but I found the pad Thai to be far too sweet.
Great Thai food, healthy and tasty. Always have a great time here!
Was not good at all
As an experienced lover of Thai food, I'm sad to say that I do NOT love the food here. Vegetables were fresh and clean, but every single dish has the same, overly-sweet flavor. The Tom Yum soup (my personal fave) was a watery broth containing huge tofu chunks. Very unappealing & sloppily done. Dumplings were greasy and bland.
With all the other Thai restaurants in NJ, this is one that is not worth returning to.
Great food and service!! First time there and the waiter made great recommendations on food choices...I would definitely go there again and recommend to others. Even though, Verona is about 45 minutes from my home but still worth the drive....😁🤗
Yummy food and great service!
Tonight I decided to give this place a chance. Maybe years of eating Thai food in NYC have spoiled me, but dishes I received were nothing like Thai food I know. Dry noodles, dry tough meat, no sauce in the dish, no flavor. Can't understand were good reviews are coming from, but if this is Thai, then you should really try to eat from other places in the city to compare.
Love the service and food here. The place is clean and has a pleasant vibe every time we go there. Pineapple thai rice, thai dumplings, ka nom geeb, pad see euw, papaya salad and the grilled shrimp salad are some if the great tasting food that are a must to try when going there....and do not forget to order their home made mix and match ice cream for the summer hot day! One of my favorite thai places to go😀
Hands down the best Thai food restaurant around! The staff members and owners are very kind and professional. I highly recommend the Pad Thai w/chicken (I like it with extra egg and sauce, bean sprouts on the side) and boy, do they load it up with chicken!
My favorite side dish is ‘kanom jeep’ - it’s essentially a Thai meatball! It’s pork and shrimp wrapped in a pasta-like wrap topped with crab and comes with a delicious dipping sauce.
Delicious food! We got pulled pork buns, shrimp buns, and Tom Ka soup to go. The order and pick up processes were both super easy. Everything was hot and fresh. My partner said it the shrimp bun was the best thing he's tasted in a long time. It was extremely satisfying.
What a great place! The drunken noodles were great and the service was exceptional. We did not feel rushed as we finished our glasses of wine and the place felt cozy. I would definitely come back.
Considering times of COVID if you want a lowkey and not crowded lunch spot, this is the spot. The food was good and a nice portion. The staff was nice and quick! Definitely a nice thai spot to try if passing through Verona!
The only reason it lost one star is the fact that the place inside was freezing! I don’t think the heat was on but other than that worth coming to!
Recent move from NYC to Cedar Grove, I have to say Aroy-D is the same level with those in hell's kitchen area and with more affordable price. Highly recommend to dine in and have a chill time with your family or friends, street view is peaceful and quiet during weekends. Only star missing is due to take out/delivery food is not as good as dine-in quality.
Love this place, pad cashew and red curry was the best. A lot of vegetarian options is available.
Good pad Thai and chicken rama
I found a piece of metal in my chicken pad Thai. It looks like a strand that fell on off of a steel wool brush. The food tastes like dish soap. I am beyond disturbed and fearful that I may have eaten one of the pieces of metal. I will never order from here again and am considering contacting the police for this gross violation of food and safety standards.
Tried because of the rave of positive reviews. Very disappointed with serving of the literally 4 noodles in the drunken noodle bowl, ordered extra chicken and sad to say there definitely wasn't even enough for a regular portion. Have had better tasting pad thai as well.
food is good 👍
Yummy
Fresh, delicious well-spiced Thai food. Generous portions, friendly service.
Wonderful, authentic Thai food. Tried some dishes I'd never had before and I was hooked.
the service kinda baffles me in the way that it confuses how they're able to conduct business the way they do. a couple of my friends and I came in around 7:30 for dinner and were sat down. There were only 4-5 tables aside from us, one being a larger party. We placed our orders and did not receive our food until 45-50 minutes later. Another table even got up and left after waiting for about 30 minutes with no updates from the waitress. I did notice that they were sending out deliveries so it makes me think that they prioritized the deliveries rather than the customers sitting inside. After we finallllly got our food, it definitely did not warrant also an hour of cooking. Mediocre at best. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon.
Call well in advance to take away orders
Great food it was so good thanks elephant Thai 👍😀❤️
I come here for thai food everytime I'm in north Jersey. They're food is great and love their thai iced tea the most
Great coconut cream shrimp . Also pad thai, thank owner Vincenzo dipaolo
I don't know what happened to the quality of food here...and we were such big fans. As soon as they moved into the old bakery space everything went downhill. Plates are flavorless, veggies overcooked, curry puffs often burnt, chicken is chewy and not as nice as it used to be when they were at the old Grove Ave location. Maybe the chefs changed, maybe it's the food vendor. We've really tried to stay true, hoping things would turn around again, but we were just disappointed one time too many.
Came to visit while on vacation, the place is very cozy and friendly.
Waiter Jed was amazing, informative, kind, and gave great suggestions and made sure we were ok.
Entrees:
Spicy Basil (Pad Kra Prao)
Chicken, string bean, onion, bell peppers, Thai basil stir fried in spicy sauce and served with white rice.
Tom Yum Soup: absolutely delicious had with Shrimp and was great with the cold weather.
Thai clear spicy and sour broth with lemongrass, lime, chili paste, mushroom, onion, bell pepper and cilantro.
Apps: my fav was the fresh rolls, spring were great just a tad hot but still yum.
Spring Rolls
5 veggie fried rolls with sweet plum sauce
Fresh Rolls
4 fresh wrapped rolls with lettuce, cucumber, mango, bell pepper and shrimp. Served with a peanut sweet soy dipping sauce
Pineapple Fried Rice
White rice with egg, mixed vegetables, pineapple, cashews and choice of protein stir fried in a sweet Thai sauce.....sister ate this one and shared with my niece both said it was great and ate all of it.
Dessert:
Had the Oreo Kit Kat chocolate ice cream rolled
for my niece and she devoured it. Big hit for her.
Overall everything was delicious and glad we made the stop to come eat, ask for Jed when you go.
After being seated, my wife and I were ignored for most of our visit. I needed to chase down the wait staff to put an order in. Once we put in an order, the food took an extremely long time arrive. When the food did arrive, the fried rice was burnt. We sent the fried rice back and it was fairly obvious the kitchen just stirred it up and put it back on the plate.
Atrocious experience, hope it was an off night.
At the time of my arrival tables were empty and I was asked if I had a reservation. I did not and was seated. Pad Thai was fine but somehow a tiny bit spicy. Suddenly it got busy and wait staff were handling tables, counter, phones and ringing up orders. Seemed short staffed and wait staff seemed stressed.
Beautiful building and ample parking. Food was pretty good and price is fair. Not awesome Thai but worth a second try. Vegetables wee fresh and adequate serving size.
Great food, great service. Keep it guys.
Food & service were fantastic! Highly recommend this place!
Ordered via door dash which gave a 25 minute pickup time. When picking up the order at the scheduled time the host told me it would be an additional 20 minutes. The host was very rude and didn’t seem to have respect for my time. Had I known it would be such a long wait I would have spent my money elsewhere. Very unfriendly service.
