I recently visited a Thai Essence and had an amazing dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with authentic flavors. Although the food was excellent, one downside was the parking. There is metered parking nearby, but the area gets quite busy in the evening, making it difficult to find a spot quickly. I’d suggest arriving a bit early to secure parking. I believe after 6pm parking is free.

Overall, I had a fantastic time and will definitely return. The food quality, fast seating, and great variety of dishes made it worth the little extra effort.

My daughter ordered the Beef noodle soup which was delicious. I ordered the duck love rice (yes that’s what it was called) it was fantastic. The duck was tender, flavorful and moist. Overall I really enjoyed it immensely.
The ambiance is very nice and cozy.

3/14/22 First time here. It was nice, clean and quiet. Service was friendly and fast.
We had pad se ew and drunken noodle, both were good. Papaya salad to start and that was nice. I love that they removed the tails from the shrimp. Sign of a good, caring chef.
Thai iced coffee was really good too!

Came in so close to their AM closing time around 2:20pm and we were still accommodated. Staff was wonderful and service was quick.

We tried their Sampler trio which was a good decision lol everything was good. Chicken Satay must be our favorite on this app dish - great flavor and perfectly grilled. The drunken noodles was perfect too. Very flavourful, good portion of noodles and meat and noodles was nice and chewy.

The Grilled Lemongrass was good but wasnt exactly a favorite. Although there was lots of meat as they used chicken breast, i felt perhaps it would be more flavorful if a bony area was used like maybe the thigh part. I loved the side of papaya salad and the sticky rice though.

Overall still had a great late lunch meal. Lots of parking space at the back too and Kubo Coffee and creamery is just across for some nice desserts!

Ordered online via UberEats (they also do DoorDash) and someone had a brilliant plan to put Vietnamese coffee in a paper sack and loose in the main bag with $50 of food that I ordered.

WELL … AS YOU CAN IMAGINE… it did not work well. The coffee not only put a sticky coating all inside the food bag but also in my apartment lobby, the elevator and all over my apartment. Half of the coffee spilled all over the bag. I can’t believe the driver still delivered it and it must have been all over their car.

Thanks for the sticky mess and stains my landlord is going to kill me over.

Superior Thai Food in town. Been to the others and this place is top notch. Only suggestion is to give a bit more food. Seems a little light sometimes.

I've been here before but this last time was disappointing. The food is not as good as it used to be, and the staff was a little rude. We brought wine and they didn't offer to open it for us, once it hit closing time they were just rushing people out, and the had moped (with no wet floor signs) by the back entrance were people could of slipped. Not going back.

This is on my list of top 5 Thai restaurants, I love thai food, and I get it everywhere I travel to. I travel for work. This is hands down one of the best. I've been in NJ a little close to a month, after I found this place, I've ordered here almost everyday, if not everyday.
Every meal has been spectacular. My only regret is, I never got a chance to visit the reataurant, always ordered through UE. If the chefs read this, thank you. Their consistency and attention to details and instructions are top-notch. Every meal left me satisfied and happy.
Maybe one day Thai Essence will open up a spot in Houston, TX.

Service was less than subpar, matched the food quality. From beginning to end it was just wrong.

Brought wrong appetizers, no spice on what we wanted to be thai spicy, they took it and brought it back with chili flakes sprinkled on top. Had no answer to fix the problem. Asked them to bring some chili sauce, it arrives once the food was gone.

One of the best Thai food places on the east coast. Everything is full of flavor and served with a smile. Their spicy beef salad is superb.

First time here..I ordered a TomKa Kai soup.. I picked up and when I sit to eat it, had 5 pieces of mushroom and 1 and half piece of chicken.:. With a bowl of water and coconut milk. That’s it. I feel I paid 8 dollars for a cup of coconut milk. Very dissatisfied and disappointed… I wanted to upload a video but there’s no option for it.

The lady and I regularly frequent this establishment, and they haven't let us down yet. You will find the usual assortment of pad thai and so on, but some of my favorites are their mango sticky rice and their chicken dumplings.

Can’t believe I’ve lived in Nutley my whole life and haven’t tried this place. A lot of my friends told me how great the food and whole experience is here and as stubborn as I am, I was reluctant to come. Well I finally came and I can honestly say that I will come here very often. Absolutely delicious food, the waitress was very attentive to us and the vibes in the restaurant are great. You know it’s gonna taste good when everyone in the kitchen are all old Asian ladies speaking the native language.

Take out was delicious. Food was prepared quickly. Would recommend this place.

So bland, so dry, I ordered drunken noodles and although it took 10 min to get to my location, all the noodles were stuck together, which is so weird because it was so oily. I requested medium spice, but it did not even taste like it was MILD. I am never ordering from here again. It was not worth the money. Please order thai food (at least if ur getting take out) from Sawadeja in Clifton instead. I would have but they were closed. 0/5 star thai essence. Never again. I spent 40 dollars just for it to go to waste.

Ordered online for lunch pickup. Order was ready on time. Price was reasonable compared to most places. Food was very good, only exception was the pad thai, which was very over sweet flavored and a ton of noodles.

The food was delicious. Made google reservations online for 8 PM. Walked in on time and the waiter rudely informs us that the kitchen closes at 9. Interestingly, the restaurant lists 9 PM as the last reservation time slot. Felt very rushed.

I ordered for pick up through online ordering. It was easy enough to use online but all the options were lunch sizes. I was ordering at 2pm. I ordered two Tom yum soup bc I enjoy the fresh veggies, the flavorful tartness of the lemongrass. We also ordered other dishes which did not disappoint. Once my husband picked up the order we drove back to our area in Bergen county (which is quite a bit of travel time). Excited to enjoy the soup, I sipped it right out of the container. What I tasted was saltiness, not so much spicy, and there was no tartness that I was looking forward to. Even the appearance of the soup didn’t look right. My husband tasted it and he said it tastes like the broth was made from an older broth and not fresh. This rarely happens with Thai essence. I’ve dined in and the food does not disappoint. However today must have been an off day. My only regret is that I ordered two Tom yum soup that unfortunately will just go to the trash.

I got salmonella after eating here. Was sick for 2 1/2 weeks and in the hospital twice. Out of work for a month. After narrowing it down and realizing it was this restaurant, had friends tell me they also had (less severe) stomach problems after eating here. The staff needs to invest in a food safety course for their kitchen or stop serving food.

I have been an avid customer for years, but my visit last Wednesday was very disappointing. The fresh rolls were not made as they were in the past, and filled with one vegetable that was unknown and the chicken in the Pad Thai was extremely tough and unable to be chewed. I have called the restaurant, and they said the manager is only in on Fridays. Extremely disappointed. Take your business elsewhere.

My family and I have been enjoying the food from Thai Essence for years! It is easily one of the best restaurants in Nutley. The food is always consistent. It is also always hot and fresh upon pick up. My favorites are the pad thai and the drunken fried rice. I usually order both with extra egg and extra tofu. Both are delicious! We also enjoy the spring rolls and the curry puffs. Definitely give Thai Essence a try. You won't regret it!

This place is amazing I love the food and I love the people there and it’s very calming.

My husband and I have been ordering here for 3 years. Last night my husband and I ordered 2 chicken pad Thais and chicken dumpling. Taste was the same like always, but We both had severe food poisoning shortly after eating and through the night. I’m not sure what happened but very upset about this. I don’t think we will be back anymore.

Amazing green curry! The massaman curry is delicious too. Food is always fresh and great quality. Portions of rice are small compared to the portion of curry, so I always order more rice!
Other than that, this is my favorite Thai food in the area and I’m so happy we found it!

Stopped in for a pickup order and the server who took my order greeted me immediately and was super friendly. The restaurant was quite large and had a lot of seating. My Thai tea was pretty good but a bit too sweet for my taste. My noodles were good for the most part but I kept finding pieces of what I can only assume are seafood shells. I asked if it was possible to make the noodles without seafood and they said yes but it seems like they just picked the seafood out as it still had a strong seafood taste. I would have preferred it if they were honest and I would have ordered something different. Not terrible but it could have been better.

Second time ordering online and there was an issue, that they can’t do anything about. Todays issue was that the rice for the salmon was missing. Doesn’t taste the same without it. Not to mention it was cold and soggy. At least I wouldn’t care about all the juice if I could put it over rice. This place is way too over priced to be so low quality and unapologetic. There has to be another place in the area. The only reason I ordered here in the first place was the food was ok when I ate inside the restaurant.

We order from here often and the food is always consistently hot and delicious. Prices have gone up since the pandemic but the lunch specials give you a break. Our favorites are the Duck Honey (my toddler now requests this 😂) and the crab fried rice. I’ve had better Thai iced tea other places. But the staff are very nice so it’s worth ordering regularly.

Not a huge fan of steamed dumplings but these chicken dumplings were bomb! I also got the chicken pad see ew with a level 2 spice and it was missing flavor but the spice helped.

I can't believe it has taken me so long to review this place. I come here once a month minimum for take out, but have dined in twice. I estimate I have eaten at least 100 servings of pad see ew since I first came here in April 2020. The food is consistently delicious.

I recommend signing up for the mailing list/app as they have a monthly discount offer for online orders. I try to use their app, but have also used doordash/grubhub/uber eats here. The take out process is super organized and I have found the time estimation very accurate.

The food is great. My go to is chicken pad see ew. My partner was born and raised in Thailand and this is our go to place. I typically get pad see ew but also have tried the calamari, drunken noodles, and pad Thai and all are great. My partner also enjoys the curry. I love this place, I wish it was close to where I lived but maybe it's for the best I need to drive otherwise I would probably be there several times a week.

Stay AWAY!! Will NEVER patron this business again. DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE. My family and I live in the area, it’s been a long day of hospital visits caring for a loved one and exhausted/ not having even thought about food, I’d remembered how close we now live to this establishment. The hours state they close at 9:30 - I’d called at 9 to simply ASK if they were accepting orders for anything. The owner answered and it was the RUDEST interaction I’ve ever had at a place in this area. I was hung up on, without even allowing me to ask when/for updated hours. Twice. I called back and tried to calmly explain how rude she was in an effort to reconcile the issue. She got nastier.

Never. Ever. Again. You’d think people/BUSINESSES especially would be kinder during these times.

I will be sure to inform my Neighbours, and friends who I KNOW have been previous patrons of this business to stay far away. I’d drive a half hour for better Thai than go here for the overpriced yet “convenient” options.

If I can give a zero star I would. I usually ordered from here at least 3 to 4 times a week. Today I ordered a whole fried fish and paid $29 for it. I kid you not, it is so small that it is ridiculous. It small as a bottle of water. I called after my order arrived and asked them the size of the fish. The lady on the phone swore to me that the fish that they sell can feed two people. Unless the two people are little babies, if not that fish can't feed even one adult. They will not do anything to fix the problem. I will never order them them again. Do not order the whole fish from them.!!!!!!

The SAMPLER TRIO is a must have. The DRUNKEN NOODLES extra spicy with Chicken is so good ! Nice portion too ! Finally the shrimp and scallop spicy LAD NA is amazing ! The scallops were cooked and cleaned perfectly. Friends of mine have had their PAD THAI and say it is really good. I am not a cooked peanut person. So I passed on that.

Drunken noodles, vegetable spring roll, and chicken dumpling were all good and prepared quick. Quiet place on a Sunday night but clean, and the fish tank is fun to look at with music playing in the background of piano instrumental covers of popular songs. Anyways, Drunken Noodle had good but not amazing flavor, everything could use a bit more of a kick. Also wish I received a bit more quantity for the $15 it cost.

Ordered jungle curry and red curry, both vegetarian. Fresh and tasty food. Definitely recommend 👌

Ordered takeout from Thai Essence for the first time. My husband and I both ordered Pad Thai with chicken and beef. Everyone was nice when we picked it up. Both of our orders were correct and packaged neatly. We both agreed it was a good meal. Portions were big. Would definitely order from here in the future.

Food is so good but service is .... The person who took my order entered the wrong item When I came to pick my order up, he eealuzed he made a mistake. I had to wait for my correct appetizer, while my other dishes were getting cold.
A week ago something else happened with order. I will search for a better restaurant

$6 service fee and $2 delivery fee to order from their own website. Beware

The lad na was more of a soup than an entree. I can accept the lack of beef (not really as I'm paying extra) but the lack of Chinese broccoli as well didn't make sense. I can get a whole plate of Chinese broccoli w/o a protein in Queens for less money. Sorry just not impressed.

Amazing food me and my girlfriend eat here regularly

I came to this restaurant because of the high reviews with a party of 3 people. There was no receptionist or worker come to ask us. After waiting 10 min finally a man who works there points the finger to a nearby table and let us sit there. There was no water or anyone comes over until 20 min later. It was a worse experience here and I will not comeback

My first visit. Lunch. Ordered Thai Vegetable Spring Rolls and Honey Duck over grilled veggies along with Thai Ice Tea. The rolls were cooked perfectly, crispy, hot. The oil they were cooked in was fresh as well. The Honey Duck was also crispy and delicious served over grilled baby bok choy. The entree was accompanied by perfectly steamed Jasmine rice and a fresh salad with house dressing. The Thai ice tea (first time trying it) was a bit sweet for my personal liking but I'm sure it has a lot of affection ados. I will certainly try it for dinner soon!👍

It’s really great tasting food, but my only issue is should really write tofu options on the menu for vegetarians or include include it in the vegetarian curry/noodles/etc by default. I’ve been to 15 Thai restaurants and this is the only one that didn’t give tofu in their veg food by default or mention on their menu otherwise

Used to love this place. Even after I moved out of state, I’d make time to stop by Thai Essence whenever I was back in NJ for a visit. But lately, I see a huge change in quality (not for the better). The quality, portion size, and customer service has gone downhill pretty dramatically. Bring back Mae and Jovie! Had to deduct a star or two

There was absolutely no receptionist when our party of five stepped in. We sat ourselves and caught the attention of one of the staff who said :”five?” and nothing else. 10 minutes passed and we still haven’t gotten water or menus. We then decided to take our business elsewhere.
