This restaurant’s food made us so very HAPPY!!!!
I haven’t been this excited about a place in a very long time! The flavorful food at Pho Thai Lao Kitchen was magnificent & delectable! This wonderfully welcoming family restaurant created a culinary journey that is so exciting that we can’t wait to go back!
Pho Thai Lao Kitchen in Maywood, New Jersey, is a cozy and inviting restaurant known for its authentic Southeast Asian cuisine, blending Thai and Lao flavors. The menu offers a variety of dishes, including their popular pho, pad thai, and Lao specialties like larb and papaya salad. The restaurant receives praise for its flavorful dishes, generous portions, and friendly service. The casual and relaxed atmosphere makes it a great spot for both dine-in and takeout. However, some patrons mention that the wait times can be a bit long during peak hours, but the quality of the food makes it worth the wait and we went there sunday daytime, they didn’t take longer time to give us food. Overall, Pho Thai Lao Kitchen is a great choice for those seeking a genuine taste of Thai and Lao cuisine in New Jersey.
Ordered a few items for takeout. I called when they opened and they said they already ran out of brown rice, so that was a little strange. This time, we tried the somtum lao (which comes with a side of sticky rice), pad khee mao, and some sort of crispy sticky rice. I liked these menu items much better. The somtum lao was a little salty so the sticky rice definitely helps. Pad khee mao was standard, but my favorite was the crispy sticky rice. It was kind of like a fried rice with crispy bits, and it had a nice lime flavor to it.
I still have yet to try their soups, so maybe that's what I'll get next time.

Came by on a cold Friday night at around 6:30 pm. There was only one other couple dining but there was a steady stream of people picking up orders. I think I’ve only tried Laotian food one other time, so I was excited to check this place out.
To start, we had the Lao crepe. It’s kind of like the Vietnamese banh xeo’s sister - shares some similarities but they have different personalities. The Lao crepe is fried and crispy on the outside but the inside is almost mochi-like. The inside is filled with fresh herbs, bean sprouts, and peanuts. It comes with two dipping sauces. I’m not sure what the reddish one was but the other one, which I assume is some fish sauce concoction was perfect. I loved it so much that I used it for the fried rice we ordered. It was the Esan sausage basil fried rice. I liked the sausage but wish there was more of it. and the soft shell crab with garlic sauce. It’s filled with veggies, so at least I felt a bit healthier. We also had the soft shell crab with garlic sauce (which also came with a ton of veggies), which wasn’t great. The crab was small and over fried, almost borderline burnt and overall, the dish was too salty. The white rice it came with helped though. For dessert, they were out of our first two choices, so we settled for the fried vanilla ice cream, which was just okay.
Overall, I really liked the Lao crepe but everything else was meh. Maybe we just didn’t order the right things. I would still be willing to come back and try the Lao style pho, especially since there aren’t many (if any) Laotian restaurants in the area.
I did take out.
The atmosphere upon entry was tired, but the food smelled good so i continued.
it was a weekend - no lunch special on weekend.
Curry puff was made with sweat potato, first time for everything. The puff was nice a flakey and enjoyable. the potato was not for my pallet. Four pieces in the dish was decent amount.
the Pad Thai - Yes there a millions a ways to make it, but please put flavor in it. this was noodle, bland, runny soy sauce lacked color, lacked taste. Not very enjoyable. 80% of the disk went in the trash. The chicken was not cleaned, contained gristle.
This was the second time to try this restaurant over the last three years, I realized why i did not go back after the first time. I hope I remember not to do this again in the future. waste of money and I was needed to look for another restaurant to get lunch.
The food was delicious and reminded of our mom's home cooking. The owner was so pleasant to speak with. Great Pho with a Thai twist, delicous soft crab and delightful Salmon head soup! Also my first time having Thai iced green tea, awesome! Overall great food and lovely experience.
Not the greatest Thai Food I have had but definitely not bad either. While all the items were cooked well, flavor-wise it could have been better. Especially the Pad Thai was just average, and I usually use it as baseline when ordering Thai Food. I would have given 4 Stars, if at least the price was not so high.

whoever gave this place a good review is lying.
I was in town working rt down the street and was so happy to see this close by. The pho was excellent. Exactly what I was hoping for and more.
Most authentic Thai experience in town 💯%
Be sure to dine in and check out the daily specials!
I did take out.

I ordered uber eats from this place and the pad thai was the worst i have ever had. It did not taste anything like a pad thai or bring anything that an original pad thai brings, the egg, the green onions , peanuts, bean sprouts etccc
Maybe I had bad luck, but my wife ordered the pad Thai chicken and it was very bland. It tasted as if it was washed in soup then sprinkled with pepper before being put in the container. I would not recommend. Otherwise, there was no flavor.
I ordered via Uber Eats, 5 small pieces of chicken, and poor quality. Misrepresentations made integrity marketing material. Went straight to the garbage.
The new cook is not good at all. I recently went to the restaurant and the food was terrible.
I think the older couple are no longer there.
The food was too greasy and the fried rice has no flavor at all.the worst Thai food ever
The worst Thai food we’ve ever had. The drunken noodles were just pure salt, no flavor whatsoever. The red curry was disgusting. I’ve never seen red curry sauce separate into 2 layers like that before. The amount we paid for this was outrageous for what we got. For the sake of not wasting food and money, my wife and I went to Trader Joe’s, got the Thai style red curry sauce, coconut milk and condensed milk to make our own red curry. We had to strain their nasty sauce off of the food. Stay away from this place.

good laos food! This is Authentic. Not watered down for suburban or stateside palettes.
Horrible u hv to wait 25 to 30 mts to pick up the order Horrible.
Food not good.
Horrible service
First time and definitely last time ordering from this restaurant. I ordered Beef Pad Thai where Beef was extra, and what came was literally 3 pieces of very small beef (like quarter sized) with boiled noodles that barely had any sauce. I have never received such low quality Pad Thai before from any restaurant. Such a disappointment
I love their red curry chicken. My fiancé enjoys their green curry chicken. Also, their fried ice cream is a nice now and then treat. They use a delicious vanilla ice cream to make it. I also love how friendly and welcoming the staff is when I visit.
I ordered Thai fried rice with beef for take out. The order came to just under $20. What? The food was overwhelmed with garlic and I like garlic but this was way too much. Finally, there was very little beef. If I'm paying $20 for a meal there needs to be a reasonable amount of beef. I feel like I paid $20 for a bunch of rice with a few pieces of beef and vegetables. I don't feel that what I received was worth anywhere near what I paid. With that said the service was good and it looks like a nice atmosphere but the food was poor and over priced. I won't be returning.
I don’t like posting bad reviews, but man was this pad Thai bad. Maybe it’s because the original owner retired, and their pad Thai was amazing! So this is just terrible compared to it. The chicken pad thai was very watery & the chicken was somehow dry. It just felt like sodium & soy sauce dashed with noodles.
Maybe they can change it up hopefully, but yeah I was really disappointed here today.
The food here is very authentic and delicious. You will know if you’ve actually eaten authentic Thai or Lao food. Plenty of great selections. You must try the Lao Crepe!!
Love the food and everything, authentic Thai flavor 😋
Great food here, best Thai in Maywood/Hackensack. They definitely know how to spice it up if you request. Yellow curry or red curry dishes excellent, and the Pad Thai is also great. Friendly and comfortable atmosphere.
This place has the worst pad see ew. I’m only giving one star because that’s the lowest rating I can give. I normally don’t write reviews in google but extremely disappointed. I literally threw this food after 2 bites.
Just great and delicious
I ordered here bunch of items trough Uber eats and one of the item was the BASIL DUCK, that dish came with literally 3 little pieces of duck for amount of over $30 dollars. Just thing was overpriced!
We went this past Sunday. Will not go back. The whole fish we ordered was overcooked, we each took 1 bite of the papaya salad and didn't like it at all. We finished the beef larb and basil fried rice because we were so hungry. My friend finished the overcooked fish because he didn't want it to go to waste. We wanted to like it but so disappointed.
I love LOVE the chicken noodle soup! And for my first time coming here, It tastes amazing! I wouldn’t doubt all of their other foods tastes amazing as well 🥰
Omg this was a hidden gem. Doing a drive by coming from my doctor's and returning something from Lands end. Saw this place and decided to check it out. We'll the pad thai was the best I ever had. The spring roll sauce was amazing a d the dressing on the salad was so flavorful. Went back 2 days later for more.
Food is delicious
Didn’t Give me noodles in my order that I made on Ubereats. Wouldn’t deliver themselves to fix their mistake. Told me to call support myself. Also told me to order something to get a driver. Wasn’t a good experience with the lady that works there on the phone. Also sticky rice looked like a blob not even rice anymore. Pork was very dry in the pad Thai wasn’t very flavorful.
I ordered from door dash with heavy prayers that this food would be good and what a waste of money! I ordered veggie fried dumplings that looked burnt and came with this red sweet sauce that looked weird and tasted funny the spring rolls were ok but also had a strange dipping sauce that I’ve never had at any Thai restaurant before. The veggie Thai basil was ok but the rice was over cooked/mushy and my lychee drink was completely sour!!! I’m absolutely pissed that I spent $45 on this “food” shame on them for allowing this to leave their kitchen for human consumption
So honestly the food is really good. The red curry I ordered I specified as spicy. It is honestly probably the best red curry I’ve had. The chicken and shrimp dumplings were delicious too. The restaurant is uncomfortable, they had no AC in late August, poorly lit, and customers were sitting in booths with their feet on the booty. I realize that isn’t directly the restaurants fault but people need to realize it’s not their living room. The quality and taste of the good honestly makes up for how much of a hole in the wall this spot is. I’d recommend doing take out.
Super authentic and totally legit... Best nam Khao ever! 👍👍👍
This was my first time at this restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious! The staff is friendly and accommodating.
The bathroom is very clean, but doesn't have air conditioning.
I plan to come again!
I recently moved to Thailand in January. I also lived in Lao for 9 months in 2020.
Thai cuisine is my personal favorite. However this time with the kids, I realized that the food is too for them and that we should not take 2 year old toddlers to eat Thai food! I guess l have to wait for them to grow up a little!
We ordered the Lao fresh rolls. There were no shrimp at all in one and only one half piece of shrimp in the other. We got two rolls of rice noodles indeed..
Definitely some of the worst “Thai” food I’ve ever had in my life. If what you guys do best is Vietnamese stick with that.
If you want good Thai, just cross the street.
This Thai/Lao restaurant is straight trash. Do NOT. I repeat Do NOT waste your hard earned money on this restaurant until they get it together. Last night I was craving some Pad Woon Sen and my boyfriend wanted some shrimp Pad Thai. We also ended up getting my favorite, papaya salad. All three were literally the worst tasting food I have had. The papaya salad looked old and tasted rancid, the Pad Woon Sen was very bland literally tasted like they boiled the shrimp, chicken, vegetables, and clear noodles all together with no salt, garlic, or seasoning of any kind. The Pad Thai was watery and the flavor was very off. Again it seemed like they boiled the noodles and bathed it in a very sweet and not-savory watery sauce (see pic below) Literally disgusting 🤮. I am literally surprised this place is in business and survived the pandemic. To management: please use this feedback to improve the quality of the food you are selling. Needless to say we did not eat any of the food because we were afraid to get sick. Thankfully we were able to get a partial refund from Ubereats.
It’s never a good sign when you go to a pho place and they don’t have combination pho as an item. Or they don’t have any of the add-ons. Like meatballs tripes or the fat. The broth was tasty. The beef portions were horrendous. I had maybe 4 little chunks of beef. Not to mention they are using thicker meat than you’re supposed to. Like tough steak. Shame really. Do not recommend the Pho. but if that’s not why you’re coming maybe their other things are good.
Good food. Good service.
Excellent hidden gem . Family run Lao -Thai homemade food . The momma is always watching over the dining room and makes you feel at home. Relaxed & quiet atmosphere and such a big menu to explore. If you havent explored Lao cuisine it is very flavorful, can be spicy and complex different that thai ! This food is exotic for me . Will def be back
The Pho is really good!
Authentic Thai. The only one I've found in 16 years in New Jersey & New York.
Ordered pad thai and it was only noodles and two pieces of chicken no lie. Expensive and so disappointing. Will never order again. And for being pad Thai, it was super plain.
I ordered pho and Thai iced tea to go. The gave me the Thai iced tea to go in a Masson jar. A MASSON JAR!!
the pho was great too! Can't even finish the medium.
Updated Based On Owners Response:
I can see now that there were bean sprouts in my dish. It's possible that I did not notice because the dish was so watery.
I am not Thai but I am chef and I have eaten at dozens of different Thai establishments. I have also been to Thailand and ate my weight in Pad Thai there as well. It is quite literally my favorite dish on earth. As a chef, I took a cooking class with a chef in Thailand where I was taught that Pad Thai should never be watery. Never have I had Pad Thai like that either. The flavor was off. It tasted more like a knock off version than anything else I have tasted before. Frankly, I am surprised by this response as I was sure it was a mistake. If this is a unique style of Pad Thai that I do not know about, then it is not it for me.
Good luck though,
Ahmed
Original Post:
This can't be right. Idk what this dish was but it wasn't Pad Thai. Pad Thai should never be sitting in a broth like this. Ever. If the owners are from Thailand, I'm sure this is not how they would want their dish to be presented. Flavors were very off as well. No bean sprouts. Nothing about this was Pad Thai. Very, very disappointed.
That lao sticky rice 🍚 😋
I ordered the curry puffs and chicken pad thai. The curry puffs had good flavor but the texture was off- they were mushy and runny inside like baby food. The pad Thai I received was wrapped in Saran wrap which I thought was odd until I realized it was sitting in a puddle of sauce. I've never had a saucy and overly sweet pad thai until today. The noodles also need thicker than they should be which contributed to ruining the dish. I'm just grateful I didn't try the curry which is my usual go-to dish.
Very delicious food you can't go wrong here , and the service is great, They are very hard working , and it shows, Great Job
Larp was a little disappointing. Tom yum & curry were great.
Hands down the BEST Thai food I have ever had. I grew up in Hudson county and we have many different options over there. We are also close to NYC, and have tried many different places in the Tri state area. Pho Thai-Lao Kitchen has the most authentic Thai cuisine with the yummiest food. I have been going for years now. (This review is long overdue) Som Tom Lao papaya salad is my favorite, but I also LOVE Pad Khee Mao drunken noodles, Thai spring rolls, chive pancakes (although the portion is small) you may need 2 orders! The Thai iced, Thai green iced and Thai coffee are all solid and delicious, but not for you if sweet is not your thing. The sweetened condensed is a key ingredient which is milk and sugar made into a thick syrup. The green and red curry are also very big in my home. Every time my family comes up to Maywood to visit, we get food from here because they all agree it’s the best.
Last thing, if spicy is your thing, take a bottle of the homemade Lao sauce to go! Definitely worth it. Make sure you keep it in the refrigerator if your home is hot. I left one out over the summer and it was bubbling up and almost exploded. Lol
Hope this helps anyone thinking about trying this! Definitely won’t be disappointed on a Thai place that is a staple in Maywood!!! Dine in or take out will both be worth it!
Sending loving energy everyone’s way! Namaste.
***I was NOT paid for this review.*** I just love them and this review was long overdue!
Been going here 10 years for the best, most authentic Thai food I’ve ever had. Simply the best!
Food was authentically Ersan Thai / Laos. Gravy noods and Tom Yum noodle soup was so flavorful. Will definitely come here again to try everything else. P.S. This type of spicy is seriously spicey, their level 1 is like OG halal guys spicy. Go 0.5 or mild. But cozy home cooking. Its such a slept on gem.
Family restaurant, good food, very spicy.
I shared a wonderful dinner at Pho Thai-Lao with my mom last night. I'd ordered from there before and enjoyed, and going to the restaurant made it extra special. We asked our server to suggest some favorite dishes for us, which she did without hesitation, and she made the perfect choices for us. My favorite was the red curry, with pork and rice, and a nice variety of fresh veggies. So comforting and delicious. We appreciated the cozy, friendly atmosphere and the details, like a carafe of water at our table and the fancy-cut carrots and zucchini. Looking forward to next time.
the best thai food i’ve ever had honestly delicious fresh spicy (optional). genuine food
The spring rolls were nice and crispy with good flavor. The sauce for the Pad Thai was too sweet for my palate.
Thai food with a difference. This is very different from the typical Thai restaurants everywhere, so, don't complain that it is not the same. We loved everything that we ordered. We ordered way too much for the 3 of us but took everything home. Spice level is a bit high but was fine for my wife and daughter. I indulged in their home made hot sauce and even bought a bottle of it. Spicy with an amazing flavor. The only complain I have is the high salt level in everything but that's the way they make it. Will go again
I recently moved to Thailand in January. I also lived in Lao for 9 months in 2020. I came back to visit family here in Northern New Jersey and decided to try Pho Thai - Lao kitchen today. They do an outstanding job. Everything tasted authentic and delicious. The service was exceptional too. This is traditional Thai and Lao dishes. A+
Great atmosphere, fast service and delicious food. Would come again
Best service ever Nicki is great and the food is delicious the Thai tea is just perfect 🥰
My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant recently and we were extremely impressed with the customer service and quality of the food. We ordered the chicken crepe appetizer as well as the papaya salad. Both tasted delicious. For the main course we shared the red snapper (whole fish). The food was very rich in flavor and the atmosphere at the restaurant was relaxing. The food was served to us in a timely fashion. I will definitely return in the future to try more items on the menu.
This is the worst food I have ever been. Sorry but not sorry. How could you serve these kind of food? The Lao crepe was nothing special a sticky rice with raw bean sprout a tasteless chicken. The green curry shrimp was soupy. I didn't eat them. So I ordered fried chicken wings. It was hard as rock. Ugh how can you serve this? Unbelievable!
We were kinda unimpressed with some of the food. It wasn't bad by any means, just a little underwhelming
This is for sure the best Thai food I had the pleasure to have in my life!! The condiments stay in your brain for days, but you still keep your tongue safe for more. I recommend for every hot food enthusiast and connoisseur of true gourmet delicacies. It's a family business, they work hard but they love what they do. Home-cooked meals for below average restaurant price tags!! What a find, right here in Bergen County!!
I had an absolutely horrible experience. Before I ordered I specifically asked the waitress if her food was vegan friendly. She arrogantly said yes! I ordered a vegetable soup only to find Chicken in my soup! When I asked why is this in my soup, she said “ I don’t know , maybe the cook didn’t clean out the pot” What!? That’s a whole other disgusting issue! That means they don’t clean their pots after every order! Would never recommend this place! I am Never going back!
Tiny place with TASTY food! Love it!
Lovely food..! Esp soup n pad Thai 👌👌
Ordered the pad Thai (spicy) with chicken and the tom yum Koong soup for delivery. Not only was it packaged very well to prevent spills and keep the food hot, but it was probably the most delicious food I’ve tasted in a while. I’m a picky eater but took a chance on trying these items because I wanted to try something new.
The soup was sweet & sour and filled with fresh mushrooms and shrimp. I was immediately hesitant to try it but the first bite had me IN LOVE. The pad Thai came with the peanuts, spicy sauces, and lime separate so you could season to your liking. It wasn’t overpowering, just full of flavor and hands-down delicious. Both are big portions too, I didn’t get through half of either meal but have plenty of leftovers for later. Can’t wait to go in person next!
Happy eating!
What a great menu! We will be back for more. Really great food.
The worst basil fried rice I have ever tasted! I will never order from here again if your used to eating basil fried rice with a kick and actual flavor theirs is not for you. It’s blan with no flavor the basil isn’t fully cooked it basically vegetable rice.
It’s ok, nothing special. Veggie Fried rice was plain . But my partner liked his pho soup. Chine and shrimp dumplings had parts of chicken that was hard to chew.
Wasildaoud
I'm sorry but this food was horrible. I ordered the Pad See Ew. They gave so much enough for 3 people at least and did not taste good at all $16 and not worth this much. Will not be going back again.
The food here is pretty good for me. cheerful and sociable service. you can come here to try the experience
Love this spot ! They have such a unique menu.. The green curry is delicious, and the crepe is insanely addictive ! I love the burst of flavors and they use only the freshest ingredients ! Great place all- around !!
I am very sad to write this review. I ordered regular Thai Lao pho $16 and found a dead mosquito in the food. I see through other reviews this isn’t a first time for them
Great little spot. Very authentic food. BEWARE OF THE SPICE LEVELS!!! Its delicious but the spice mix is extremely intense.
$17 a plate for take out order and when asked for soy sauce and duck sauce they refused to give…
Food is amazing their spice level is just as much as Indian spice which I loved ! Huge portions !
May be bc I’m more used to Thai food rather than Thai-Lao: Food was salty and with a hint if tomato flavor, which was odd for me. Pad see ew and Pad khee mao tasted about the same. Noodles were overcooked (we took the food out, but I’ve taken noodles at different places out plenty of times). People are nice.
A great variety of spices and Asian food to satisfy your Asian flavors.
Mom and Pop Thai food place. BYOB. easy parking. Tasty, filling. Very local, nothing fancy.
The food was amazing and the staff was super nice as well!!
This is definitely a tiny lunch spot with the best Thai food! Get the lao crepe no matter what else you have. You won't be disappointed.
I finally got to try this restaurant after hearing about it a few weeks ago. I was going to get takeout but the restaurant had such a nice, homey feel that I ate there. If you are looking for basic run-of-the mill Pad-Thai, keep moving. You CAN get it, but that is not what this eatery specializes in. This restaurant is Thai-Lao, the food has stronger, bolder flavors such as crab/fish sauce and chilies. I got the Sum Tum Poo (Papaya Salad with Salted Crab) and a Thai iced tea. The tea completed the meal well and the Salted Crab dish was incredibly addictive with the right amount of spice. The service was a little slow with only two women running the floor, be patient and just enjoy being able to eat out again. The food was a bit pricey, but it was 100% worth it for an interesting/change of pace meal.
Ok tried this place for the first time. The food was ok very bland taste. I am just more accustomed to the Thai restaurant that have a more sweeter taste to their food. This is Thai lao not Thai.
By far the worst drunken noodle I have ever heard. A watery flavorless mess. Disgusting.
Great food! The staff is great too, love supporting a local restaurant that obviously takes pride in what they make.
Small location with Great food! Authentic and delicious, generous servings, with indoor dining option!
got take out for the first time from this place. the food was some of the worst food i have ever picked up and we spent $50. everything was very dry and lacked any seasoning. I finished half my meal because i was hungry but couldn't stomach the rest. a meal at boston market would have been 100% better and cost half as much. maybe it was just a fluke, but during covid your take out better be worth taking home or you will lose customers.
Ordered tonight. Very disappointed. Everything was either super bland or too spicy to have taste.
The service was great, super friendly staff. I was expecting the food to be authentic Thai or Lao and it was neither.
Food is eh.. very watery. Skip the Pad Thai here.. worst I've ever had! 😖 Yuk! Would definitely go else where for Thai food.
Overpriced, not fresh, slow service.
Friendly staff and clean! Great food!
There was a guy coughing in front me. And manager didn't say or do anything. Didn't eat my food and just had to leave.
The food is so fresh!
The food is so fresh and tasty.
Love this place,amazing food.
The food was good. Thats why the 2 stars. I ordered the tom yum pho and my wife ordered the regular one. I chose a 2 out of 5 for spicy and trust me when I say this, it was fire. Couldn't finish 20 percent of my soup. I just ate the chicken from it. Then my wife finds the mosquito in her soup half way through. We showed the waitress and she casually just says that ill take half off of that soup. As if we will continue to eat anything. We paid for it all and left. Most likely it doesn't happen that often but would have definitely appreciated if they has replaced the soup or not have charged me for it. So if I go back there, I would eat with eyes open wide.
Very good authentic food.
Good food. Excellent service.
Very friendly , great food
Very kind owner.
And vood food.
Very small spot but you will like it
The food is delicious and it's completely homemade you won't be disappointed by this wonderful Thai woman and her husband.
Lunch special rocks
Price is a little steep, but dang is the Pho good. So flavorful and really hit the spot.
Not even close to Thai food at all.
I love this place. Just be really careful about the spice levels, especially if it's your first time. Err on the side of caution and start from 0.
This was the first time my son and I ordered from this establishment. We were EXTREMELY disappointed to find a bright and colorful BUG IN THE BASIL THAI RICE. The restaurant refused to issue a refund saying that because it had been delivered by DOORDASH the refund had to come through them. NEVER ORDERING FROM THERE AGAIN.
Had it twice in the last 2 weeks and I'll probably make it a weekly visit at this point. Everything I've had has been killer. Quickly made, hot, fresh, nice portions, and they care about the presentation.
If you get an entree soup you get a quart of soup and all the fixins come on the side, so you make it when you heat the broth up instead of them getting all soggy and jacked up sitting in the broth and getting microwaved.
Good portions, perfectly seasoned great flavor. Highly recommend.
Horrible food
Always great food! Love supporting a family owned local business
Not a bad little restaurant that’s more Thai than Lao.
Delicious, authentic.
Great family run restaurant
Nice little restaurant, parking beside and front. It's small so not for instant large crowd, call ahead if you have large group. Food was good and tasty unless you ordered something spicy that numbs your tongue. Good size prawns. Pricey for the size served, more than NYC. Spiciness is very relative to South East Asia so if you think you know spicy from the normal spicy in the US, make sure you pick two numbers down from it at this restaurant. For real lovers of numbingly spicy foods, pick 4 or 5.
Automatic gratuity for party more than 5 but given the short handed service, that's unacceptable. Also, if you're not observant, you'll be charged tax that's calculated inclusive of the gratuity.
Fair food, friendly competent servicd... TV dominates dining room
A rated and family owned
It's homely, the owners are attentive and the food brings out the original flavours.
Great food
A small simple jewel of authentic South East Asian Cuisine, we found our waiter ready and willing to engage us with recommendations and even the chef herself, a lovely woman with the sincerest intent, came out to our table to warm us that the rating of "3" was very hot, and that her own rating of "5" would likely be well over the top for us. I settled on requesting "4", and found it to be deeply but not overwhelmingly or searingly hot. My brother with me admitted to being a bit overwhelmed and said next time he'll request a 3 rated heat...
But I digress. The food was lovely and aromatic well well beyond just heat and garlic. I am definitely coming back and highly recommend Pho Thai Lao to anyone seeking authentic and excellent Asian Cuisine.
Incredible food and amazing service!
