One sister had the Pad Thai which she said was good, get extra peanut sauce. The other had Red Curry, which she said was excellent and she’s a curry snob so it must be good.

This dinner was absolutely lovely. Very good fresh Thai good. On an abnormally chilly day the green curry with tofu and brown rice hit the spot. They have a bar with a fun cocktail list and great beer and wine options. The ambiance is cozy with the low lighting and votive candles. I would happily return here. We have been getting lunch there on Fridays for some time now. I got the Deluxe Pad Thai on Friday and is was inedible. It was dry, tasted bad, etc. It was obviously old and should not have been served. I ended up throwing it away.

Update: Last few times haven't been so good. Food is inconsistent and borderline mediocre, which should not be the case for a premium price. Today I had the Drunken Chicken which was oily, flavorless, and not the heat level requested. The service has declined as well. The staff go about doing their job, nothing more, which contradicts the kindness of the owners. On a recent visit the music coming from the kitchen was louder than the music in the restaurant. [OLD REVIEW] Fantastic Thai food! I eat here regularly and it is consistently excellent. Staff are great. My favorite cuisine is thai and this ranks as one of the best I've eaten at. Setting is very nice. Even has a bar... an oddity in Thai restaurants.

Absolutely incredible food! Came for my mom's birthday on a whim and we were HIGHLY impressed. It's always a good sign that a Thai business is run by Thailand natives. We had Mamas Dumplings, Scallion Pancakes and each ordered an entree (drunken noodles with chicken and pineapple chicken). Great portions with leftovers and DELICIOUS flavor! Food came out very hot and tastes so fresh, they're definitely using great ingredients. The staff here were very friendly and happily offered recommendations even when it was busy.

Went here for my adult daughter’s birthday. She was dying to try it but overall it was a disappointment. The food was quite good, except for one order where the rice was very overdone. But the real negative was with the service. Our waitress disappeared halfway through our meal. It took four requests to get our check. The first two requests were to the food runner (since the waitress was nowhere) but clearly she didn’t understand any English and rolled her eyes. Finally a man who seemed to be a manager brought our check. There was no communication asking how everything was or if we were interested in dessert. The atmosphere of the dining room was also rather dark and uninspiring.

So disappointed. Undercooked and cold chicken satay. Customer for over ten years who always enjoyed an excellent meal. But I arrived tonight at 8:35 and was turned away for dinner. Closing time at 9:00. So ordered 2 orders of chicken satay and fresh rolls. Received order after about twenty minutes and went to my car to eat it and the chicken satay was inedible… cold and marginally undercooked. Had no taste. I went back to restaurant and reported this to the hostess. She did the right thing by offering me new order but I had to drive an hour to get home so I asked for my money back for the chicken. Obviously the order was cooked hurriedly and then sat there for too long and got cold. I don’t know if I will return.

My husband and I were in town visiting this past weekend and we went here for dinner. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was fast! Definitely recommend the Duck soup!

I have been coming to this restaurant for almost 10 years now….no complaints about the food… their food is and has been good…but this time when i went my son who is 2 years old was in a mood as all the toddlers are….he might have been a bit louder than he should have been more than a couple of times…..but still was bearable….as far as i know none of the other guests complained but one of their waitresses comes to us and tells us our son is disturbing our other guests and that we should hurry up… we told her we are doing best to keep him quiet but she dint seem to care about any of what we said to her….as parents with small kids we always try our kids dont bother other people but some days are tough but this kind of behavior is very mean… very disappointed….

Ordered take out, and I hate to say this but we were thoroughly disappointed based on the raving reviews we saw. My boyfriend ordered the chicken pineapple dish with a 2/5 for spice level. It was so spicy his mouth was burning and he couldn’t finish it. He had to take a sip of juice in between each bite, so it was definitely too spicy for a rating of 2/5.
I ordered the chicken satay skewers, and they were delicious!! The sauce was good and the chicken was tender and flavorful. Where my order went wrong was with the spring rolls. They had way too much mint in them, which through the flavor off. I also ordered sweet and sour sauce for dipping and I have no idea what they gave me, but it certainly was not sweet and sour- it was not good. So that was disappointing.
The restaurant itself is nice inside, and the lady at the front was friendly. Maybe dining in is a better option.

NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. We went to have a meal around 4 pm last Saturday with my toddler and husband. First of all, we were given two person seats. We were able to put our travel stroller away. I ordered a mai thai as a drink and it had too much alcohol. No big deal. My husband ordered some sweet pork and it was great. My food was good but i should have ordered something different. The waitress told us that someone gave my daughter a bad look and that we should keep her quiet. I think she caught us off guard and we both told our daughter to be quiet. She is almost two. She turns two tomorrow. She wasn't yelling, she wasn't crying. She was just playing with her lips and making sounds. I gave her, her tablet and that was it. I am writing this review because I regret not having say anything about how wrong that was. I am a mother and I can't let this go. This was very wrong. So, someone looked bad at my daughter and I have to quiet her down eventhough she is not crying or yelling?? It wasn't rush hour either. It was 4 pm. I have apologized to my daughter for not speaking on her behalf. This is unacceptable to me and WE ARE NOT COMING BACK. I DO NOT recommend this place for people with CHILDREN. This place is not cheap either. I also felt very rush and that the attendants were hovering over us to get us out. Today is the Monday after and I am still very upset.

The food was fantastic. We paid and I was finishing up my drink while speaking with my boyfriend. We were interrupted by a waitress and asked to leave because they had a reservation coming in. They had multiple other tables available and we would have left shortly after. I just thought it was very rude. I will not be back and regret leaving the tip I did.

This is the best Pad Thai in Portsmouth. The service is always excellent and the atmosphere is nice. The Pad Thai deluxe has a slight spice but not too much and the shrimp and chicken in it are perfect. The prices may be a little higher than other places outside of Portsmouth, but overall is around the typical prices you’ll find in Portsmouth. I have been multiple times now and have not had a bad experience and will continue to go!

They do not have sushi even though it was listed when I did a search for sushi places in Google Maps.

Our dinner was wonderful and the atmosphere was great! Parking is slightly challenging but is to be expected being in downtown Portsmouth. The food was top quality and we would definitely go back next time we're in the area.

Home away from home - I've spent 15 yrs in Thailand additionally my wife is Thai. I can say without a doubt that if you want to experience the true taste of Thai food without 15h flight to Bangkok THEN you just hit the best place in New Hampshire! The food is true to its original version in Thailand, The portions are generous.
It is my go to when I miss my home in Thailand! The service is very done with the traditional Thai smile and is fast. The ambiance is casual and will make a perfect place for a dinner for 2 as well as a more relaxed family dinner.

I went with 4 other people. Speaking only for myself, the appetizers were stingy. We had dumplings and calamari. I had green curry and pork. It was edible. Yet the pork was dry and they veggies were scarce. The service was very good and friendly. Given the location, I think that they can get by with mediocre quality. The food was nothing spectacular.

The food was incredibly delicious! We enjoyed the specialty appetizer dumplings with pork, chicken, and garlic with a beautiful thick sauce for garnish. I had the red curry, chicken, and shrimp, and it was the perfect level of spice for me. I will probably go a bit spicier next time, but that was my own choice. My friend got drunken noodles and she was very pleased with her meal which was accompanied by a lovely glass of white wine. I started off with one of their specialty martinis, which was just the right level of fruity. It was a wonderful meal all around!!

We had an incredible lunch at 5 Thai Bistro today. The servers were all very friendly and attentive. The spicy crispy duck, the red curry and crispy Pad Thai were all exceptional. Amazing depth of flavor especially with the red curry and duck. The crab rangoon starters were some of the tastiest I can remember. And every dish was beautifully plated. We had to take a picture!

Our waitress double checked with the kitchen that my vegetable stir-fry was not cooked in fish or oyster sauce which I greatly appreciated. Awesome vegan-friendly spot that I will definitely return to!

We got chive cakes, pad see ew, deluxe pad thai, crispy duck on the side ($10), gratuity 20% was included in our bill since we had a large group of 9 (including kids).

Some other items we tried including pineapple fried rice, drunken noodle, tom yum soup which are decent too. Give it a try if you're looking for a good thai spot!

Our experience was awful at this restaurant. The waitress was incredibly rude and her attitude was abysmal. We called the restaurant around 115pm to ask if they had a table for 6 available around 145. They said yes, confirmed they had food for kids and that we should arrive prior to 2pm since they closed at 230pm. We arrived around 150, and was told to order right away- which we did. When the food came out around 215, they told us we had five to ten minutes before they closed. We let them know that we called in advance and they should have let us know if they were going to kick us out five minutes after receiving our food. We were a party of 6 w two kids. When I told them I’d leave a review, they backed off a little. I didn’t even eat since we were hurried out. It’s a shame bc the leftovers we took home were good. Will never return.

I have been here before, service was mediocre but the food was good. I took my friends today at 9 pm after finding out the restaurant was open till 10 pm. As we walked in the hostess gave us a look as if we were not welcome. The first thing we heard from the lady who was whining and told us that the restaurant closes at 10, making us feel we were trying to stay there beyond closing time. We did not feel that we would be served well. I decided to give them another chance to try the food as we love Thai food. So much for trying to give them another chance. I don't think I will go there anymore.

Best Thai food in New Hampshire

Love this place! I get the tamarind bbq pork, and my lovely wife usually gets the Spicy Crispy Chicken Cashew Nut. Five stars, recommended! Nice people here!

They messed up my chicken and broccoli which is disappointing but not the end of the world. Considering I look at cows as sacred animals, the beef and broccoli was not an appropriate substitution.

A co-worker recommended this place a while ago. Stopped in on a Thursday night. Was seated quickly, staff was cheerful and very helpful. The ambiance was worth writing home about.

Got the scallion pancakes and crunchy spring rolls as an app. I didn't know those two things could be better than my normal "best" places to get those dishes. I am not kidding when I say this was a new top of the list for both dishes.

Ended up getting the tofu drunken noodle and it was excellent. Came out hot and with an appropriate amount of spice.
The shrimp crispy noodles were also excellent.

This place gets a 5-stars from me, and judging by the amount of traffic and orders flying out the door... Many other folks give it a 5-star.

Chrispy Pad thai

I really enjoyed my experience here. I ordered the crispy pad Thai and it was wonderful. The service was quick and the atmosphere was just right!

Their soups are AMAZING. The crispy duck noodle soup is delicous but I'm sooooo in love with their beef noodle soup. Have been getting it consistently for a few years now. I could eat it every day.

5 Thai Bistro was not what I expected! It was beyond! The atmosphere was great, the food was fresh and delicious! All the staff were SO friendly and you can tell it's like a fakily there! Super clean and I would highly recommend! I cannot wait to go back!💞

Service was delightful with a smile and prompt. I purchased chicken Massaman curry with jasmine rice and Thai iced tea. Everything was cooked well, including the meat. Curry had a wonderful peanut/tangy blend that paired with the carrots and jasmine rice very well. Would recommend this location!

We dropped by for lunch on our way to Maine. Owner/Staff was friendly and food was delicious, though a bit sweet to our taste but we (adults and children) enjoyed it.

Definitely not the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Ordered chicken pad Thai, and while the noodles were cooked well, they only included like 3-4 small pieces of chicken. Chicken was under seasoned. Worst of all, the dish had no peanut/pad Thai sauce in it! Just some weird fish-based oil. Wasn’t terrible, but not in my top list of Thai restaurants.
