Thai Restaurant
Siam Thai Cuisine in Reno delivers fantastic home-style Thai food at reasonable prices with decent service to match.
Food:
I tried the Eggplant with Chicken and Fried Tofu (see pictures), and both dishes were delicious. The eggplant was cooked perfectly—soft but not mushy—and the chicken was flavorful, pairing well with the sauce. The fried tofu was crispy on the outside and tender inside, making it a great appetizer or side.
Atmosphere:
The restaurant has a laid-back, homey vibe, perfect for casual dining. It’s clean, comfortable, and inviting without being overly fancy.
Service:
The staff was friendly and attentive, though not overly interactive, which worked fine for a quick and relaxed meal. Food came out in good time, hot and freshly prepared.
Value:
Portions are generous for the price, making it an excellent value for anyone craving Thai flavors without breaking the bank.
Final Thoughts:
Whether you’re a local or passing through Reno, Siam Thai Cuisine is worth the stop. With its flavorful dishes and fair prices, it hits the spot for anyone looking for authentic Thai comfort food. I’ll definitely be back to try more from their menu!
Ordered for first time ( door dash). Had the yellow curry ordered spicy and was one of the best Thai curries had in a long time: Flavour was excellent plenty of chicken, potatoes and carrots. Cooked perfectly and nice and spicy too. Delicious. Recommended!
Stopped here to try something we saw on a Thai Travel video, Khao Soi Noodles: egg noodles in a yellow curry soup with coconut milk and crunchy noodles with onions. I've never had this dish before, but it was a really great blend of sweet and a little spicy with creaminess from the coconut milk.
We also got Spring rolls and Crab Rangoon, also excellent. The Thai Iced Tea was smooth & refreshing. $1 extra for Boba, probably worth it if you like the extra texture.
Service was excellent, my only complaint about the atmosphere was not having the chili sauce available at the table, but they brought it out when I asked for some.
I'll be back to try some of the classics
Fantastic thai food paired with excellent service. this place beats most of the bay area thai places too ! don’t miss the green curry and the tofu satay
The food was horrible. Ordered tempura shrimp, was breaded and cooked to long, that’s not tempura, orange chicken was also horrible. Asked for a refund and was denied. Don’t eat there it’s horrible. No stars
Stopped in for a late lunch before picking my son up. In my endless quest to find the best thai food. We got a top scoring restaurant here. And it's easy to taste why! I had the tom yum soup level 5, now I know what my spicy folks want to know. Is it spicy? Well if you aren't accustomed to thai food maybe, but I wasn't sweating. I love how it really wasn't an issue because the flavor was still amazing! Service was quick and friendly they kept my water full while I dove in to that bowl! Lanna thai cafe I will be seeing you again very soon with friends!
Service was amazing and the restaurant was very clean. 10/10 for service and atmosphere. We got the calimari appetizer. It was a pretty small portion for the price but good, the sweet chili sauce with it was especially tasty. Pad See Ew (photo) was incredibly good. The noodles had an amazing texture, the vegetables were cooked perfectly, and there was a good balance of sauce. In heat I asked for a 3/5 and it was pretty spicy, so if you are worried err on the side of less spicy! Super delicious though. Orange chicken was okay. My husband didn't care too much for the texture or flavor. I thought it wasn't bad, but needed more orange flavor. The portion again was a little small for the price.
Overall we were happy and would go back to try different things on the menu.
Low effort slop and intolerably slow and inattentive service. Two or three of our dishes were just food from Trader Joe’s. I used to eat those egg rolls in grad school and would recognize the distinctive flavor anywhere. Same with the pot stickers. They fry them up but they’re just TJ potstickers with that distinctive mass-manufactured filling that is balled up into a processed pellet, completely separated from the skin. I suspect the orange chicken my friend ordered was also from TJ. The “veggies” they included were a joke. I had one of the curries — meh. Very little chicken. Service was ridiculously slow. We saw an elderly couple wait for 10 minutes for a seat and nobody seated them so they walked out. Embarrassing. There isn’t any competition nearby hence how I suspect this place survives (plus the neighborhood is mostly boomers who don’t know better). Will never come again; even for Reno this is bad.

Good food and service
Amazing food and service
Papaya salad was so hot - could not even eat it.... website was poorly designed. Beef was very tough and other dishes were far too hot to enjoy

The atmosphere was nothing special. Service was very good. Food was good.
Simply very good food. Their curries are to die for. Atmosphere is nice, well kept, certainly not trendy. Lots of business people come for lunch, families for dinner. Extremely friendly service. Pad Thai is a little too sweet, but still very good. Nice hole in the wall to meet someone, enjoy a very good meal, generally without crowds. It's the go-to place when we're feeling like Thai, which is often.
Great food, friendly workers. And nice atmosphere.
The spice rating is non-existant. Sometimes 3 will burn your face off, sometimes 4 is like a 0.
Their website is awful in the checkout page and you have to call to place a pickup order.
Food is terrible would give 0 stars if I could
My fav Thai restaurant in town. The food was somewhat inconsistent for a while after changing the ownership and name (used to be Lanna Thai), but returned to their usual excellence in the last 3-4 times I had. So glad!
Got take out and it was one of the friendliest encounters of my week. They are so kind and welcoming and want you to have the best experience. Will definitely be back!

Lovely
Always Good - fair portions and quite tasty
Siam thai is one of the best in reno.. I ordered the pat thai and ice thai tea ! It was delicious thanks siam thai for making my belly happy.
Curry, pud Thai, excellent
Good atmosphere for a Thai restaurant. We've ordered in several times as well. The food is very good and I've had a lot of Thai good in cities like SF, LA and NYC. You can pick your spice level. Warning- even a 2 can be hot, so err on the side of a lower spice number for your first time.
Don’t ever try, service is really bad! go to Thai Lotus instead!
We have frequented this place many times since it was Lana Thai food, and strive to support small business. Unfortunately, after our last experience we will NEVER patronize this restaurant. We ordered take out and had our friend pick it up for us - the containers were placed in a box and handed to her - the juices and oyster sauce were filling the box and running down her arms by the time she got to her (new) car - as you can imagine she turned around and went back in to ask for help and requested plastic bags instead of a box to protect her car. The elderly woman that runs the place was frankly rude and put off when she asked for plastic bags. On her way out, my friend heard the woman say (behind her back), that "she drop it". My friend has had a very tough day as we all do and did not need this attitude, not to mention she just dropped $100 bucks only to get that treatment. My friend turned and told the woman that she had not dropped it and I think if she had, the food would have been everywhere. This kind of rude customer service is not acceptable, I don't care how good the food is. There are 3 less people, and their friends, that will support that business as a result.
The server looks unfriendly and angry.
Best Thai food I’ve found around these parts!
Great service, food was delicious
Atmospheres nice it's a little small inside. Service was fine. We were not greeted right away. We stood by the door and waited until we got the lady attention. The lady didn't wear any attack or introduced herself, so we didn't get a chance to get her name. The appetizer we got were spring rolls and chicken satay. We had a lunch special was the yellow curry w/ rice. For myself, I got beef salad. Food was good portion was a bit small.
Pretty good food, nice atmosphere, and the srevice was on point.
The food was very good. I will definitely return, my only complaints are they close at 8 o’clock at night When we walked in the front door at 7:30 and one of the ladies looked at her watch and wanted to know if we were there for takeout or sit down, I don’t think she was happy we were sitting down for dinner. Their hours are bad closing before 8 o’clock at night is bad particularly on a Saturday night.
The prices went up and food taste is not as good as original. The recipes are no where near as good as Lanna Thai, the old avocado rolls were sooooo goood now 180. It’s really sad I loved Lanna so much.
The restaurant has a new owner (from the menu, Lanna appears affiliated with Siam Cuisine in Truckee). Lanna Thai has a new menu and taste experience.
Chicken satay tasted flat and sharp and the satay were visually unappealing (pale color, perhaps missing turmeric).
Spring rolls now have shrimp and price has increased from $8 to $10.95.
Peanut sauces for both were not as good as previous owner's version. The peanut sauce for the spring rolls tastes mostly of hoisin. The peanut sauce for the satay was not flavorful and visually unappealing (sauce had separated into clumpy peanut component and oil).
Hangover noodle dish skewed to the sweet side. Portions are small (though Lanna portions were always smaller) and vegetable quantity and quality has also diminished (overcooked cabbage and carrots, just a sprinkling of green beans in the vegetable stir fry).
Prices have increased relative to the previous menu.
Flavor and value do not induce a return trip.
Great seafood pad thai and friendly staff.
We’ve heard Lanna Thai has a new owner.
We ordered yellow curry and pad thai and both noticed there is a LOT more sugar being used in these dishes. Seems like they need to adjust the kitchen a bit since the last owner.
Overall the flavors are good but a bit sweet for curry and noodle dishes.
Pretty average Thai food. We got the pad Thai and pad kee mao. Stuff weren’t nice or attentive.
Lannas is an amazing restaurant amazing food but what I don’t like is that they ask what level spice do you want your food and you tell them level 4 which is spicy or level 5 and you get your food and it’s no spice that is only thing I hope they can fix
Everything we had was fresh and delicious. We had Spring rolls, Chicken Satay, Red Curry and Pad Thai.
Great Thai food! Good prices and delicious. We just moved to the area and I’m sure my husband and I will eat here often!
Tasty food and excellent service.
Service was attentive without being overbearing. The food was delicious, I had the spring rolls, pad see ew and mango sticky rice. I would come again the next time I am in town.
The food at Lanna Thai is excellent and consistent. Lunch specials, even to go, include soup and salad.
Stopped in for a late lunch before picking my son up. In my endless quest to find the best thai food. We got a top scoring restaurant here. And it's easy to taste why! Yummy avocado rolls and pad thai and pad soy sauce was fantastic
Great food and great service. Had the curry, fried rice, potstickers, cashew chicken, and Tai iced tea and all were amazing. We will be back!
Absolutely the best Thai in Reno. Amazing chicken curry lunch special with crab Rangoon. Unexpected top notch cuisine. Just WoW!
Best Pad Thai I’ve ever had. Absolutely outstanding. The Duck Curry was delicious as well. This is now my all time favorite Thai restaurant.
Stopped in for lunch and this place was wonderful. The food was all very fresh and very nicely prepared. This place is Reno's hidden Thai gem, absolutely worth discovering.
Yummy...No regrets 🤙
The food was excellent, the service great. Will definitely come back many times!
Very delicious, affordable Thai restaurant! Stopped in around lunchtime and ordered the lunch special, which was more than enough food at a good price (from $10+ depending on choice of meat/protein).
A little pricey but the food was excellent
Service was amazing and the restaurant was very clean. 10/10 for service and atmosphere. We got the calimari appetizer. Overall we were happy and would go back to try different things on the menu.
The Thai food is pretty good, although portions overall are pretty small.
The food was absolutely delicious, wait staff attentive, just reopened so getting back into the groove, but thus place is a must. Very reasonable and great food.
Good food great customer service
Great lunch and extra nice staff
Elicits audible "MmmMMMmmmms!" So fresh, lovely, and delicious.
I am driven to review tonight (finally) because of the AMAZING veggies that the chef puts into the chicken curry. For just $2 ("extra veggies"), I get a divine variety of vegetables, many that I don't even recognize, but all are delicious. Honestly, it takes a simple curry to a gourmet level. We've had Lanna Thai many dozens of times. We love the delicious food, and the owners and servers are amazing--friendly, accommodating and quick. It's a great atmosphere to dine in, but they also do excellent takeout and allow us to bring our own containers for sustainability (pre-COVID).
Or first time here and we loved it. Pumpkin soup was great. Panang curry and stir fried asparagus were very tasty..... Had a good spice for medium.
Great food... forgot my brown rice though. Besides that another great Thai restaurant.
Delicious 😋 particular curry Salmon in the exactly time of cook,Super.
It would nice if they update their website.
Just had the basil stir fry lunch combo and it was SOOO good! The soup was delicious and I'm not a big soup person... The salad wasn't just iceberg either. If I lived in Reno I would come here all the time!
Ordered phone to-go. Quick, easy, and everything was delicious. Yellow curry was A+
This place is delicious and fast! I love the khao soy, and it’s the only place you can get it in town!!
My only advice would be to skip the avocado rolls if you are expecting something fresh- they are loaded with cream cheese and deep fried, so they weren’t my favorite! Other than that, everything I’ve gotten here has been great!
I had a wonderful meal here and all the staff are kind.
Food was very good and the prices were reasonable. Had the lunch special and it was delicious as was the Thai coffee. Service was a little slow but will definitely go back
Delicious!!! The curry salmon never disappoints
Oh man!! Yummmm
Best spring rolls I've ever had, the peanut sauce was spot on!!!
The Pad See Ew is to die for. I give this a 5 out of 5
Best Thai in Reno, hands down.
My go-to takeout joint for Thai.
Delicious! And cute atmosphere. Quick turnaround on the takeout.
Some of the best Thai out there!! We really enjoyed our dinner here! Will definitely be back when we roll through Reno again!! 😋👍
This place is a hidden Hot-Spot. I live just down the hill, embarrassed to say I overlooked it for a couple of years. Yes it's in a strip mall, but once inside you're transported. I ordered a spring roll and Pim was missing something she needed. Actually sent the waitress on shift next door to Raileys. I was provided a soup for my inconvenience! Trust me. I've been in the service industry on both coasts for 43 years, chef for 30. This woman cares. Do your palate and sanity a favor, try this hidden gem. Chef, Jeff :)
This place was awesome! The food was incredible and the lunch special is a great deal. I will absolutely be back and I will be bringing friends. It's a small place but it is nice, clean, and friendly.
My new favoriate asian place in town. This food is so good. Tastes natural, not too americanized, no sugar.
I love this restaurant! I've lived all over the United States and I swear this is the best Thai food I've ever had! The ingredients are fresh and I haven't found a dish I dont like! Lanna Thai is the best thai restaurant in Reno for sure!
I crave the food here. Service is fast and friendly.
The food was great it was fresh well-seasoned the service was excellent and the decor was very nice I will be back
I've been to this place off and on for the last six years and every single time was great.
good but pricey...I like other Thai places better...like Bangkok Cuisine better
Great food and service. Everything was so fresh!
Delicious
Very clean, open kitchen, courteous attentive service, moderately priced and good food. Some meals feature vegetables not traditionally Thai but always fresh. Portions are quite reasonable. Nice cozy cafe ambiance, despite strip mall location, and clean dining area.
Always good.
Thai restaurants can often be hole-in-the-wall places better suited to take-out, but that is not the case with Lanna Thai. The interior is very pleasant, open, clean and welcoming. The only suggestion I have is that the light be softened a little bit, and Thai music be played: I think these would boost the atmosphere. Our servers were prompt and friendly the night we went. What made Lanna Thai distinctive, though, is the amazing food. I had the duck basil curry, and ordered it Thai hot. And, yes, it was super hot, thank you. The flavors were absolutely distinctive: the duck itself in particular was just right, tender with a hint of char. My wife had the panang curry with a creamy coconut milk sauce and just the right amount of heat. Plus we ordered the chicken satay with peanut sauce which was also expertly cooked. Even the sticky brown rice was distinctive. The portions were very generous, and we had enough food left over for a couple of lunches. We'll be back soon.
Good to eat in or for take out. Fresh ingredients well prepared by the owner/chef. One of the best Thai restaurant s in the area.
Great food, reasonable prices and the staff were very friendly. My new favorite Thai place in Reno!!!
The best!
Best Thai I've had since moving to Reno. Really good!
Lovely owner with really good tase of Thais food,I love about Pad Thai here you have to try it yourself.
If Lanna Thai was in a big city, there would be lines at the door. It is a "hidden hotspot". Pim, the owner and chef, has the best flavors and freshest ingredients. I highly suggest eating in the restaurant. It's not fancy, but there is nothing like eating off of proper plates instead of styrofoam! The flavors in the soups are crazy good. Enjoy yourself there for some great Thai food.
It's a nice Cafe atmosphere, great service and good food. I highly recommend you try it for yourself.
Yummy
Love the “Lanna’s Thai Café” – food is delicious, authentic – the “Real Stuff” you can eat in Thailand (not an “Americanized” short cut version of it). Very clean, you can see actual Chef working with “Open Kitchen” and staff on site is very nice. One of the rare and “natural” places to eat in Reno or in many places as far as California… If you can bring some “Coconut Ice cream” on your menu for dessert – I would give you all 6 stars ;-)
Great Spring Rolls, Yellow chicken curry, shrimp lo main with Thai iced tea and Chardonnay.
Sweet lunch specials !!
They have all of my favorite Thai dishes and this tapioca/coconut dessert that was legit... best thing I've ever tried and I'm so glad I did.
Very good neighborhood resto
Great food, nice service, atmosphere and great pricing
Such delicious food. Take put ready quickly. Helpful staff.
Basil Beef and Crispy Pork are delicious.
Delicious food and intimate setting. I always enjoy my time there.
Really good value. The food is well prepared and tasty. As a nitpicking fellow who lived in Thailand for 8 years, it's not quite authentic. First, chicken satay is Malay, not Thai! And the peanut sauce should be more spicy!
Also ordered the yellow curry with chicken. It was good but not spicy enough! As anyone who has lived in Thailand will tell you, Thai food makes Mexican food seem mild!
Asked the girl if they had Pic Nam Pla. She didn't know what it was! It's fish sauce with small Thai Chili's chopped up in it. Standard with Thai meal. However she checked with cook and he knew what it is and whipped some up.
They do have Singha Beer which is very authentic!!
So all in all, it was good value and about as close to real thing as you will find in Reno. Well worth a visit!
The food was very tasty. Service was prompt. I can't wait to go again.
Delicious. Great service, not too pricey. For $10 extra you can get a shave while you eat, too.
Yummy! Like going to your aunt's house for lunch.
Unassuming...but awesome!! Service is excellent. Spring rolls were large and beautiful; full of crunchy fresh veggies and perfectly cooked shrimp...another shrimp or two would be even better !! Yellow curry was delicious and spiced perfectly to our order. Peppercorn pork stir fry was also both delicious and beautifully made, with lots of fresh, crunchy red and green peppers. Very nice meal for two....$40 INCLUDING WINE !!!
I had the green curry with chicken and it was delicious!
Food and service was amazing! Come and try so yummy!!!!
Looked for an alternative Thai Restaurant and found this Gem and it is local for me. The owner was very sweet and even explained to a friend the items in their soup. I asked if they could make rice noodle soup with shrimp the next time I came as I did not see it on the menu and she said gladly. The prices are very very reasonable and the ambience was very soothing. Thank you!!! See you soon
Just had dinner Saturday March 25th and the food was excellent, as well as the service.
With Thai Nakorn gone this is the only true Thai restaurant left in Reno. Food is authentic. Very good.
Tasty Thai food. Favors are authentic and the papaya salad was very good. Pad Thai you could tell they actually cook the shrimp with the noodles. Not just throw them on top. I sat in the restaurant and saw about 20 togo orders go out, so they are always busy.
Food is okay but pricey.
My family has been going to Lanna Thai since they opened. Their soups are our favorite, especially on those cold winter nights. Love this place for its' friendly staff, great chef Pim, and welcoming atmosphere.
Just had chicken satay and chicken yellow curry. Awesome! Definitely coming back for more.
Very good. Chicken satay, orange chicken, green curry and thai tea are great. Relaxing atmosphere and good service.
The best Thai in Reno, especially their pepper- dishes and soups. But dress for winter, as they keep the temperature quite cold.
This is our Thai to go place. Little noisy for dine in.
This could be the best Thai food in Reno! I went 3 times in one week it was so good!
love this place
This restaurant is a must for those who enjoy Thai food. We have always gone to the Bangkok Cuisine when in Reno. Since this restaurant was closed on Sunday we found the Lanna Thai Cafe. What a find. We will definitely be back when we are in Reno. The curry salmon was absolutely fantastic as were all the other dishes we had. And the setting is very comfortable and quiet.
