First time at the new location with the addition of noodles to the menu. Had the curry and it was exceptional! Came back the next day for fried chicken and rice which was also exceptional. Curry puffs are great, mochi is also great. Owner is incredibly involved and will make you feel right at home.
I'm in Reno roughly once a year and I always make it a point to come here.
We have visited this place about 5 times in 2 months!! Amazing delicious exquisitely prepared Asian food! Good value for your money. My son does not want to waste any broth because it is so good- he puts broth in a cup to go! And eats the leftovers in the car on the way home! Very personable and helpful staff. I would recommend this noodle/rice place to anyone that wants a fast flavorful and filling meal. And it is healthy too! You do not feel over stuffed after the meal. Yum..
We did the hot plate option and to be honest I was disappointed. The food itself was pretty good but the server/(also owner?) was a bit much. He didn’t really explain how to do the hot plate as it was our first time doing such a thing, leaving us confused for 15 minutes until he finally checked on us and we could ask. The interior was kind of weird as well, there was a chord taking up space next to the tables and a large mural of the owner as well as a wall that looks like it was part of the museum next door and had never been repainted. Also, considering you had to cook your own food, serve yourself, buss your own tables, etc it was definitely not worth the price!
Ordered the protein (tempera shrimp) fried noodle bowl for $17.50. Fried noodles were good, shrimp was 4 tiny sticks. No flavor, no meat in one. Was suppose to have bean sprouts, there were maybe 5 strands. No soy sauce or other options on table. They also gave a small bowl of flat noodles, totally plain, no seasoning or flavor at all. Most tables had not been cleaned and had food remnants, floor was full of food droppings everywhere. No one ever came back to our table to ask if we needed anything.
Okay, so I wanted to order from the Rice Box Kitchen, but it redirected me to Noodle Box Kitchen. Well, okay. I didn’t see Pad Thai that I really wanted on the menu, but I was open to other options.
I spent about $25 for rice with tofu, a mochi cupcake, and 6 pieces of tteok.
I was excited to try, but I ended up rather disappointed… it was ready on time, but they completely forgot my mochi cupcake which I was charged for (I had to hurry back home, I had no time to go back and ask).
Rice and tofu combo only had a few slices of cucumber as a side, and I could understand that, but tofu was rather dry and lacking flavor. I like tofu, but I don’t cook it myself because I cannot prep it well. For this reason, I go to restaurants… but this was underwhelming. Especially with so many pieces! The rice was good though, I liked the seasonings and overall flavor. It was the best part of the meal!
I also liked the flavor of tteok rice cakes, but they were very dry on the outside. I think they should be chewy with a light hint of crispness on the outside maybe. But it felt like they were encased in a hard, cracked shell. My Korean friends suggested that maybe they were cooked too fast before fully defrosting? I do not know. I enjoyed them more than tofu, but unless it gets cooked differently next time, I don’t think it’s worth it… :(
The employee who handed me my order was very polite and kind though!
EDIT:
I am sorry, I actually was looking for noodle options, not necessarily Pad Thai. And I saw them on DoorDash, but then I chose to go to the business’ website to order directly, and suddenly there was only 1 noodle option I think. The lack of pad thai did not affect my rating though, I should have worded it better. But I was a little confused by different takeout menus and being taken to a different location online.
I also need to say that I appreciate you reaching out. I am going to change my rating to 4 stars, and I will try something else next time I go for a more balanced perspective!
The noodle was soooo good! Definitely recommend the boat noodle soup, it’s one of the best noodle soup I had. I like that the owner decided to expand the rice box menu add noodle. This place is even bigger and nicer than previous location! I like that there are a lot of parking available for free at the discovery museum, def an upgrade from previous location.
The atmosphere is great; the employees were helpful and kind. The price is right for the serving size and quality. They were so friendly when my teen ordered a dish that he didn’t like with helping him get something else that he would enjoy. Really good drinks too.
This is a cute place. The food was good and the service was great. My only complaint is that portions were a bit small.

Some of the best Asian dishes in town, vibrant atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff, great menu. The Khao Soi really hits the spot, mild spice, perfectly prepared chicken in a flavorful curry (ask for condiments if you want to spice it up a bit!). Great, mid-town location connected to the Discovery Museum (parking can be a bit of a challenge...only down side). Looking forward to trying their Shabu dinners and Dim Sum Sunday brunch.

My family and I LOVE this spot. The food is incredible, the owner is so nice and fun. We come anytime we are in Reno!
Soup had no flavor. It was gross. So disappointed. Please don't bring your abuelita cause she's going to be upset.
Delicious food, hot and fresh!
Really friendly staff. Nice space. Some of the best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand.
Went there for lunch, food was okay. Very limited menu.
Parking is metered.

!THAI BOAT NOODLES!
It is the most flavorful bowl of noodles you can get.
Service is spectacular.
Welcoming environment.
Special days with different meals!
You won’t regret it!
I went to hot pot here as I have many times before. The staff is always so nice and the hot pot is delicious!! It is all you can eat for 90 minutes, but we never last the full 90. I highly recommend this place!
Very good service and excellent food I got the tom yum soup with tofu. One of the best spots on town
I went on a Sunday midday and was told only dim sum was being served. This was a small surprise, but I thought I'd try it anyway.
It is $6 for all dim sums with portions varying from 2 to 4 per order. There was also a sesame udon dish for $8.
We ordered a few things, but none were remarkable and the udon was borderline bad (soggy and strange sesame dressing-type sauce). Especially at that price point, it didn't feel worth it at all - the udon in particular. Frozen then overcooked noodles and a strange sauce were what it tasted like. For a restaurant with the name NoodleBox, I guess I expected more.
The atmosphere was also strange and hard to put a finger on. Flowery tablecloths with Latin music in a Thai(?) restaurant.
I hate to rate it this low, but the experience was far below average.
You can’t go wrong with the Thai Boat Noodles or their hot pot every Tuesday. Dynamic flavors that make you feel comforted. Never not fun here
I really love the atmosphere at this place!! Super friendly and low-stress. The food is delicious and extremely comforting!
The service is so amazing and friendly--I couldn't leave a complete review without saying that! What a fantastic place.
Exceptionally great service, fun atmosphere , delicious food. We had a great time!
The food was delicious and comforting after a long and stressful day at the hospital. The warm, friendly service was even more of a balm!
I'm definitely coming back soon!
So good! Is a must try Reno spot! The soft shell crab curry is out of this world! Keep up the great work Noodle Box!
Great meal! Noodle
Soups were flavorful and tasty. Great service! Very friendly, kid friendly. Will come back
Love the food and staff here! Amazing!
Truth be told. We actually took a chance on Noodle Box, and didn’t like it at all. We just didn’t wanna ruin your perfect rating.
Why I’m writing, is that it would be extremely helpful if you had actual pictures of every single dish you had. That way we have a better visual on what we’re ordering.
People savvy with Asian cuisines probably know. Then there are us risk takers who really have no idea.
Good luck.

We came here with friends to celebrate my sons birthday with shabu shabu and had the best time! The food was amazing as always, with fresh ingredients and great flavor! Perapol and his staff make their sauces in house and everything is done very well. The atmosphere is fun, vibrant, and perfect for family style dining and sharing a meal with friends. We were well taken care of and anytime we were needing refills on sauces, food, and drinks someone was always ready to serve with a smile. If you are looking for a memorable dining experience with delicious food and attentive service, Perapol and his team at Noodle Box kitchen delivers! We will come again and again!
