Homey, antique-filled restaurant whipping up spicy curries, noodles & other traditional Thai fare.
Very good, local restaurant. Charming and relaxed atmosphere. Always greeted quickly when we arrive. Service is very quick and the food is served nice and hot. They will adjust spice level for you- just let them know. Plenty of appetizer and soup choices. Lots of noodle and rice dishes. Seafood, chicken, beef and veggie dishes. Check out the online menu for a complete list. The Panang Noodle is an interesting dish with large fried noodles in a creamy curry sauce with chicken and vegetables. The Red Curry is delicious and can be ordered with your choice of protein. They have a couple of dessert items. They serve alcohol.
Quaint, clean Thai restaurant. Pleasant service. Came for lunch and it was a good first visit. Reasaonable prices, tender pork and chicken dishes, and quick service! My rice dish did not have any basil in it, like the menu said. Spring rolls are plain.
This place earns its high rating for a good reason! The food is bursting with flavor, satisfying, and perfectly cooked. I tried the Panang Noodles, and the curry had the ideal level of spiciness. The dish came with crispy wonton-style noodles, which were a delightful surprise and absolutely delicious.
Traveling with a 4-year-old, we ordered the wonton soup for her, and it was a hit—it was her first time trying it, and she loved every bite. My girlfriend opted for the pad woonsen and was impressed by the variety of vegetables and the medley of flavors.
The staff is polite, and the atmosphere feels like an antique store, adding a unique charm to the dining experience. The only downside was the cleanliness; our table was sticky, likely due to its antique nature. Despite this minor issue, this place is definitely worth a visit. It's a gem in the middle of Mississippi.
My family really enjoyed this charming little Thai restaurant. We always prefer to support a local restaurant wherever we go. This one was decorated with antiques in a tasteful manner and the food was fresh and flavorful. The sampler appetizer came out piping hot and gave us a good taste of several things. I usually get a curry dish at Thai restaurants but was drawn to the description of the ground chicken basil over brown rice and it was delicious, great flavors topped off with a runny-yolked egg. My husband and 9 year old son liked the Shrimp Pad Thai. Food was moderately priced but it was high quality. Portions were smaller than most other restaurants so I was glad we got an appetizer too. If we ever go through Tupelo again, we’d definitely visit this gem.
Small, quaint restaurant decorated with antiques. Greeted immediately as we sat down. Appetizers came quickly, we had the lettuce wraps and the sampler, both were good. The shrimp pad thai and Bangkok noodle were delicious! The pad Thai has a sweeter taste while the Bangkok was a bit spicier. We will definitely return! We arrived at 530 pm and did not have to wait for a table, but after 6 pm you will be waiting, but worth the wait!
Absolutely a wonderful experience. Charming cozy atmosphere, just that touch of good music in the background, and the food was GREAT. Adding this restraunt to my road trip itinerary fir the next time we come through Mississippi. Am just sorry it's not closer to home.
This small resturant is charming and well ran. The food is phenomenal and the service is top notch. My wife and I fell in love with this place and will return each time we are in the Tupelo area. Keep in mind, that this is a very small establishment, but it is well worth it.

Personally my favorite restaurant in Tupelo. Their red curry is a comfort food for me.

I loveeee!!!
Fabulous Pad Thai! Authentic Thai dishes are always wonderful. 5 stars!

My wife and I placed an order to go tonight over the phone.
Drunken Noodles with chicken
Masaman Curry with chicken
Panang Curry with chicken
Crispy spring rolls (4)
The order we received was very odd. The only item completely correct was the Drunken noodles.
The masaman curry had no potatoes in it, and it had a random pineapple chunk in it. That could have been a huge problem if one of us had been allergic to pineapple.
The panang Curry had no crushed peanuts in it but had egg noodles that had a burnt color an texture lying on top of the dish.
We also received cream cheese wontons instead of spring rolls.
The name on my order read "Panner" instead of Tanner even though I spelled it out on the phone.
It's very disappointing to not receive the food your ordered or to only receive it partially correct. This is the first time we have ever had an issue with the restaurant. I hope this does not become a regular occurance.
Delicious gluten free food
I took my kids to dinner at Sao since it had been a while and it just sounded good. My 6 year old had coconut shrimp and pad Thai Shrimp, she loved the pad Thai - it is a little on the sweeter side if any PT I have ever had, but still delicious, the PT Shrimp were delicious, the sauce with the coconut shrimp was also delicious. She said she didn't care for the coconut shrimp, but no worries, they were yummy to everyone else. My eldest had Woonsen Pad Thai and really enjoyed it. This was a new item for her and she said she would definitely order again. My middle child had crab & shrimp fried rice (no pic), he devoured it....woof! Gone. He also loved the calamari, Spring roll and the coconut shrimp. I had a hard time chosing my entree and opted to get the Beef Nam Tok Salad as my appetizer and then just nibble on the Basil Chicken Thai Style and take the rest room for lunch the next day. So I did just that, ooooohhhd and ahhhhhd over the salad - the perfect amount of heat too! Then I ate the egg with a little bit of my rice and sauce, then packed the rest home. So full! So yummy!
my favorite place to eat! I have eaten at about every restaurant in tupelo and in my opinion this is the best. Every time I go, the service is amazing and food is always amazing as well. I love everything on their menu especially the thai tea which is super authentic. This is quite literally my second home.
Waitress was rude and unhelpful. I asked her for some recommendations and she looked at me like I was crazy, like that was a strange question. Very weird. Vibe was all off, so we just left and went somewhere else with better service. Good atmosphere and I bet the food would have been good.
Absolutely love this place! The food is some of the best Thai food ever tried. Highly recommend!

best thai restaurant in tupelo. I order from them on tupelo to go all the time. its always hot and fresh. I get the pad thai almost every time, it's so good and flavorful. 10/10
Food was ok, noodles came out in broken pieces like they were all from the bottom of a bag. Wish they had more sauce options and better/friendlier service. Cool interior decor, kind of eclectic.
Food was good but service was not friendly at all
Not welcoming, not smiling
We had to ask for knives, spoon several times because they Just give you forks and when you ask for it, they really seem annoyed
Wont go back there or you Just to take away
The food looks beautiful and tastes even better. This place takes the cake for the best Thai restaurant in Tupelo.
Update: This place is going to make me poor...
Great authentic Thai food for a southern American town. Love the eclectic dining room with all the grandfather clocks. The place is small and quaint. The curried and basic duck dishes are delicious!
This Tupelo hidden gem is one of a kind. Inside is like a Thai Cracker Barrel and the food will blow you away. Lots of fresh herbs and veggies, delicious, and stomach-warming. Everything is cooked with so much love. The food is just another level. Delicious and truly how food was meant to be! Try the chicken soup (especially if you are sick), Moo Ping, all of the curries, spring rolls, potstickers, any of the noodle dishes...the salads!!!! The specials are always amazing! This is not fast food, it's good, real food! So much comes from their garden and you can definitely taste the difference in their "real" food!
What a wonderful eclectic dining experience with the best curry I've ever had. I had the Panang curry with chicken and my husband had the red curry with tiger prawns. We ended the meal sharing the sticky rice with fresh mango. If I lived near here this would be my favorite go to place. Great service and very clean inside and even the parking lot.
The food was fantastic! Great fast service and a really unique atmosphere.
It looks great from the outside and food is delish bit looking in from the outside it looks a little sketch but not going to stop me from eating there.
it's really crazy I placed order Togo and it said $26.65 asked for a total payment receipt of only $20.65 why is that a lie
Great food and service. Prices are reasonable and many vegetarian options available. Different spice levels for all taste buds.
It was a very pleasant lunch experience!
Pad See Ewe was incredible, almost as good as my girlfriend's. The price was surprising as it was only $11 and I would have readily payed $15-20.
Server was a bit short with customers, but I am assuming he had an off day.
Decor could use an update.
I give the water a 10/10.
Great food and friendly service. Love the decor!
great thai restaurant!
This place is cozy, lovely and delicious. Tupelo was a frozen wasteland when I was here, but this was just what the doctor ordered to warm me up! Fantastic and highly recommend!!
Food and service are outstanding, prices are reasonable, and it is so charming inside. Absolutely loved my experience!
Sao is favorite Thai food in the world. I absolutely love the ambience of this place. It’s the perfect date night spot. I’ve been coming here for years and I’ve never been disappointed.
What a great find! Excellent food and service. I'll definitely be back.
Everything about this place is classy, love the atmosphere, the antiques & the music. A must-try is the Som Tom (Papaya Salad) with Sticky Rice. We try a different dish each time we go & have never been disappointed.
I got a to go order. And I loved it
We totally make it a point to go here every single weekend! It's, like, the ultimate spot for all you folks who are into some seriously spicy cuisine. Trust me, it's a total win-win situation!
This place was beautiful. The food was top notch.
Everything we ordered was pretty good. They brought us water but never asked if we wanted something different to drink. We had the sampler app, pad see ew, drunken noodles, and crab rangoon. Service was slow but I think it's is family owned/operated and it's a small place. We weren't in a hurry so it wasn't a big deal for us. Ambiance is lacking but it was a decent place. I would recommend to others.
Always DELICIOUS! My favorite Thai food anywhere.
Good food, good prices, good service!
I usually get the Green or Red Curry... both are excellent.
This time I tried the Papaya Salad. Cool & Spicy all at once - refreshing!
Highly recommend
I loved in Thailand for 7 years. This is the best Thai restaurant that I have ever eaten at in America! Lovely place. Lovely staff. Amazing food!
Great food Great service Great place
One of my favorite places to eat!
Authentic in Tupelo
Such a great find! Superb and efficient service, quaint atmosphere amd THE CUISINE....!!... over the top. Highly recommend the Tom Kan soup (coconut base). If we are ever back thru Tupelo, we will make sure to visit again. Kudos to Sao!!
Food was lovely, service prompt and with a smile. Definitely recommend this place if you’re visiting Tupelo
Trash! Appetizers I got were severely overcooked and cost just as much as main.
This place is a blessing to the people of Tupelo. Service gets slow when they get packed, but that's because it's a real restaurant that takes pride in their food. If you want Texas Roadhouse dog food, then go there 😉 Great decor and cool staff. This place is awesome!
Food was hot and delicious
Portion was small for what I paid for it but it was still good.
We ordered Chicken Dumplings, Chicken Satay, Panang Curry & Basil Ground Chicken Thai Style. We liked everything!
This is some of the best Thai food you can get. This was my first time here, and I will certainly be back for more. 10/10 would recommend.
This is my go to Thai spot in town, it could be yours too.
Feels like eating at a friend's house as opposed to a generic restaurant.
Wasn't impressed with the food. Calamari was super tough, cashew beef was a smaller portion than I was expecting for the price, and I left still hungry. Kudos to whoever did the decorating here, they did an absolutely amazing job. Atmosphere is awesome.

This place was pretty good it was a first try for me so I spent time looking around getting to know the place it was a comfortable place to eat laugh and talk with friends the food was really good and it was prepared in a timely manner. Now we had one issue the food was too salty and they remade the whole dish, we couldn’t ask for better service.
We normally get to go but eating inside this restaurant is an experience in itself. Eclectic is the first word to come to mind. Hole in the wall vibes and a local favorite. Anyway foods always amazing. The massaman curry and panang curry are go to dishes.
The food here is absolutely delicious. Such a cute atmosphere. Staff was so sweet and attentive. I will be back !
This small resturant is charming and well ran. The food is phenomenal and the service is top notch. My wife and I fell in love with this place and will return each time we are in the Tupelo area. Keep in mind, that this is a very small establishment, but it is well worth it.
The khao soy was on point. Just like it tastes in Thailand.
Excellent! Best Thai since we lived in Houston!. Friendly waitstaff.
My family really enjoyed this charming little Thai restaurant. We always prefer to support a local restaurant wherever we go. Got carryout, portion sizes were tiny for the $$$
My absolute favorite place to eat in town. I look forward to coming here when I am in the area from Oklahoma.
Wonderful food. Neat atmosphere!
My husband and I had a great experience. The sushi was delicious, the staff was very courteous, and I ate more than I normally do because it was such a great meal. 👍
Loved the chicken coconut soup. The decor was cozy and the staff were kind. I had a green curry with avocado and shrimp. Delicious!
cool spot good food
We had drinks at NAO’s bar while waiting on a “to go” order. The little restaurant was candy for the eyes full of beautiful antiques and interesting memorabilia. Ricky at the bar was personable, service über efficient with hardly time to finish our drinks. The food was five star fantastic delicious with fresh herbs and vegetables. We will absolutely return to NAO our next visit to Tupelo. Yum… it such a pleasant, memorable experience.
We love eating here. Good staff and great food! Gluten-free friendly.
I have eaten here several times and the food is always excellent.
I love this restaurant food is great and most of all the owners and coworkers are so friendly… I could eat this everyday
Incredible food and so cute!
Our family enjoyed our dinner here. The food was delicious, prepared tastefully and elegantly on our plates. The ambiance of the restaurant was unique with the decorations including various wall clocks. The furnishings, tables and the bathroom were suitable for our family that included children.
Legitimately the best Thai food I’ve ever had, and the restaurant itself is lovely and quaint. The service was great and the staff was very accommodating of my vegan diet.
It go hard
This establishment is very beautiful interior. The ladies here are very courteous and polite. If your looking for a good first date place or lunch with friends, or family stop by to eat. Enjoy the fresh flowers on the table and soft music playing in the background. It's a step back in time to eat amazing food. God bless America !!!
So so not good. Too many ways to say. So bad it hurt.
Don't judge a book by its cover. Looks like a little dive, but is really nice inside and had wonderful food and service. Small cozy and quiet. Good sized portions. Would certainly recommend.
We have eaten here twice. Both times enjoyed the taste and quality of the foods we ordered. I highly recommed . The only issue I had had is I have a decent appetite and found the servings to be a tad on the smaller side. That's not a reason to not visit. Infact we are planning on returning very soon. I do think alot of folks don't share in the same appetite as I do. And that's great. Give them a shot I'm sure you will love it.
Better than most Thai places. Very tasty and nice atmosphere. Would go back.
Wow this place is so cool! Great Food and atmosphere!
Definitely a unique place!
Great ambience with light classic jazz music complementing the eclectic dining area. Nice collection of antiques; quaint. Food and service outstanding, moderately priced. We’ll be back. . .
I could eat here seven days a week. But they are only open 6. (smile) The food Is DELICIOUS !!! I never eat a full plate of food. But I did here. And wanted to lick the plate.(big smile)
In my opinion this is definitely some of the best food I've had in the United States Blown Away by how good everything was it was presented beautifully all the dishes look so nice and the flavor was so good it took your taste buds on a vacation definitely one of the more expensive places around but definitely worth a try
The service was slacking and we had to flag our server down every time we needed something due to them not paying attention to their tables. The food was ok but not my flavor.
Such a quirky little place, like grandma’s kitchen. Super friendly staff and wonderful atmosphere. And the food! So, so good. Very excellent!
great service and authentic thai food! yum
the best kept secret in Tupelo for great Thai food in the funkiest, quirkiest atmosphere. MUST TRY.
Food was excellent!!
Enjoyed the Panang curry, my daughter had the pad thai it was very good, and my son had the red curry it was very good also! Will be back.
VERY good food. Very good. And not only that, but being a vegan traveler, the staff was beyond kind and accommodating for that which I greatly appreciated. Food is wonderful too. Definitely will be back when in town. Go support small businesses like this one!!
Very busy at lunch. Took us about 15 minutes just to get the menu. Nice decor and vibe inside the restaurant. Food was good.
My favorite place to eat in Tupelo. I love the quirkiness of the inside and the food is always so fresh. Definitely a “hidden” gem in this town!
It’s so surprising to find such a good Thai restaurant here! Nice atmosphere, nice service, and great food! I like their fried rice, pad Thai woon sen, shrimp roll and moo ping a lot! I’ve tried so many Thai restaurants and this place definitely is leading the game!
Sao Thai is incredible. The food is out of this world. The atmosphere is so relaxing and charming. I recommend this place to every one I meet.
Only one waitress taking care around 5 tables customers, and she is busy… we wait almost 1 hour and half for food….
I had the basil fried rice and it was good, but it needed more basil. That's what makes this dish stand out and it was lacking in "amazing/ tasty" category. I would try it again and ask for extra basil in hopes it would improve the overall "WOW"' factor of the dish.
.
I've enjoyed this restaurant for years. Great atmosphere and delicious food!
Dine in so you can have a bowl of chicken soup with your meal.
The food was delicious, people were very friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy. Great for couples, families and kids. The red curry with shrimp and tofu was my favorite.
Food is consistently good. Better than the other Thai restaurant in town. Good and respectful staff.
Food was very good, prices too high.
My favorite restaurant ever. I come frequently and have every birthday dinner here. The owners are very nice and actually from Thailand. The inside feels like a home away from home
Amazing food the Red duck curry is the way to go amazing pricing quiet relaxing music great couples SPOT I promise you won't regret it.
Amazing authentic Thai food, seasoned and cooked perfectly.
Great food! Nice people.
We loved the fresh flowers, the atmosphere, and the friendly couple who ran the place. Food was delicious, spring rolls some of the better we've had..also was neat to find other mother/daughters who loved having lunch there🙂
Very nice decor inside and top notch Thai food
We ordered several of the appetizers and a fusion dish of catfish curry that was on the special board. Everything was amazing. So fresh tasting! Unexpectedly good ambiance for the prices.
Love love love the atmosphere here. The food is also suuuuuuuper yummy !!!
This sweet little place just keeps getting better and better. Best Thai food in town!
Wonderful experience
Excellent coconut soup. Extremely friendly staff
Highly recommend
They have no phone number listed to place a to-go order, but when I ordered in the drive through, they let me pay and then told me it would be 40 minutes before my food was ready. Very, very frustrating to-go experience.
Absolutely mouth watering, amazing, and delicious cuisine!!!
Spicy number 2
Awesome restaurant!! Always a treat!! Everything on the menu is top notch!
Small place could use more seating areas not are not so close together but other than that food is great service is fast
The food and service was all good.
My son and I had lunch there. It was our first experience. Plan to take my daughter in law for lunch there soon.
Good Mango Sticky Rice. I ate there once before on business trip and others seemed to like it as well.
