Ruam Mit started its humble beginnings as a family business in 1989. Since then, Ruam Mit has gone through many different changes over the years; including moving to its current location in 1996, growing from a restaurant with eleven tables to twenty, changing ownership, and even a slight name change. The only thing that hasn't changed is that Ruam Mit Thai + Lao has always been owned and operated by family. We work very hard to provide fresh & delicious Thai & Lao food to our guests and strive for good service. All of our dishes and sauces are made to order in-house with our own family recipes. Come in before or after an event as we are nestled right in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. We serve lunch, dinner, and drinks!
Came up from WI to MN for the Hmong New Year. My wife wanted to try this Thai restaurant so we stopped by on 11/30/24 around 8:30PM. It was slightly busy but our group of 4 got seated immediately still. The waitress was quick to take our drink and food order together as we were ready to order pretty quickly. The customer service was great! Food came out super fast and tasted delicious. Would definitely try this restaurant out again to taste the other options on the menu.
Absolutely loved having dinner here! The employees were super friendly and very easy-going. The answered our questions and gave us insight on some of the food. Everything that I ate was delicious along with my partner's food Karen highly recommend stopping by especially on these cold days!
Such a lovely little place that's easy to pass over, but you shouldn't. Not only was the food delicious, but the service was super friendly and they seemed very appreciative of our business. The atmosphere was very open and had a simple unfinished design with the exposed pipes in the ceiling. The bathroom was large and gorgeous, and overall a wonderful birthday experience. Not to mention, the employees took one of our desserts of the bill completely unprompted because they heard it was my birthday. I was a bit leery from some of the reviews, but I'm happy to say we were all very impressed with everything.
Food was overpriced for what the quality was. We parked on the street. Took waiter forever to come and take our orders. It also took the waiter forever to bring our food to us, and to refill our water. They did not even bring sharing plates either, even though we asked multiple times, which is weird for an asian restaurant, but it is what it is. Food portion was not a lot, and the flavor is also not there. Food was presented well, I will say. I was expecting more for a 'higher end' looking asian restaurant. I was disappointed about my experience and I wouldn't come back, as I know I can find better quality asian food else where for cheaper with better customer service.
Really delicious and they just started doing delivery! Chicken Satay and sticky rice were great, as were the sauces. Got the curry puffs as well and they were delicious but sweeter than I was expecting.
You do need to get your order in early for pick up/delivery for lunch and a reservation is recommended.
So we've made a quick stop in minnesota and crave for some Authentic Thai Food. Did a little research and found this spot with many awards.
Place was nice and cozy
Atmosphere is very nice
Server was good and tentative.
Now onto the food:
Nam khao 3 out of 5
-Presentation is nice
-Portion is little for the price
Overall taste its ok.
Chicken Pad Thai:
-Presentation looks sloppy
-Portion is little
-1 out of 5
Overall taste isn't that good. To me its missing that nice sourness taste from the vinegar and Tamarin taste, so im just a typical fried noodle dish not really a Pad Thai dish at all.
Usually when i see a lemon wedge instead of a lime its going to be off.
Beef Curry:
-this dish stole the show for me.
Nice bold creamy coconut flavour not too sweet. This by far is one of the best Curry dish i had.
-Wish the portion could of been bigger

Really excellent spot in downtown St. Paul! The food was absolutely delicious—I particularly loved the matsaman curry I ordered, but the egg rolls and chicken satay were also fantastic. Great service, and the decor and ambiance give a bright and cheerful feeling while you enjoy your meal. Overall excellent place and I will definitely be back soon to try more dishes (and order more of that incredible curry)!
Didn't quite meet my expectations. The egg rolls were good. However, the Tom Yum was bland. Also, my tea was served lukewarm not hot.
Excellent food, green tea hit the spot, and portions were descent. Very friendly staff, too!
Ordered the Chicken curry fried rice. So delicious!
The food is fantastic, love it
I love the new restaurant..
the food is 10 Stars.
If you enjoy authentic Thai food this is the place to go.
They have you order on a spicy scale of 1 to 5 and let me tell you 5 is real heat.
Stop by this hidden gem in downtown St Paul and enjoy the best Thai food in town !!
Must try the special egg roll and #30 Pha Ram Long song
One of the staples of Ruam Mit – savory blend of red curry, coconut milk, crushed roasted peanuts on a bed of steamed spinach (or mixed steamed vegetables upon request). Choice of: Chicken, Tofu, Mock Duck, or Shrimp
Definitely recommend going here
My favorite Thai restaurant in the Twin Cities! Great prices, amazing food, and the staff are great!!! Hot, fresh, and tasty - never a disappointment.
Excellent food, really quick and kind service.
Found this place walking downtown and decided to stop in. The place is really cute! We sat by the fireplace had drinks and ordered food to go. The drinks were good but really spendy! The food was mediocre, nothing to run home about. The wings we asked for no spicy and were spicy, the pineapple fried rice was just okay and the cream cheese womtons were also just okay. The service was also just okay, there were a table of staff eating right behind us so we asked for what they were eating and found out the food wasn't from the restaurant. It took all of me not to ask where it came from so we could go there. I'd go back if no other places were open.
Ordered Spicy Chicken wings, roast duck curry, khao poon, pad thai and papaya salad.
Spicy chicken wings 5/5
Roast duck curry 5/5. Very flavorful and rich.
Pad Thai 4/5.
Khao Poon 1/5. No flavor at all whatsoever.
Papaya salad 0/5. The papaya was bitter, probably could've made better at home.
Best food in the TV area. Everything is good here.
The new location is wonderful, great atmosphere, very inviting. The staff is as always is great. Still the same amazing food, best eggrolls EVER! I have been a customer for over 20 years, never disappointed.
The service is awesome and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The Matsaman curry was one of the best we’ve ever heard, and the pad Thai was also delicious!

Best Thai and Lao spot in the state for a great price.
Really delicious and they just started doing delivery! Chicken Satay and sticky rice were great, as were the sauces. Got the curry puffs as well and they were delicious but sweeter than I was expecting.
You do need to get your order in early for pick up/delivery for lunch and a reservation is recommended.
The food here is incredibly delicious! The pad Thai is the best I have ever had! I am happy they now have a delivery option!

The best Thai food in the Twin Cities! My wife and I have been going here for over a decade and it just gets better and better. Love their new space as well!
One of my very favorite restaurants. I have never had a bad dish here. Everything they make is flavorful and amazing. The service is always fantastic, the new location is great. Cant say enough good things.
Absolutely fantastic. No notes. Perfection.
Delicious food, great sake, amazing staff and owner. Could not be happier with our experience.
We stopped into their beautiful new location on Christmas Eve. Every single dish my family of 6 (plus a baby) ordered was delicious. Especially the spring roll, pork egg roll, egg drop soup, pad thai and half chicken entree. The oyster sauce concoctions are also superb.
The owner and chef even stopped by to ask how everything was. The space is really nice and spacious as well. Everything about our experience was truly 5-stars! A wonderful asian spot in St Paul not to be missed!
We ordered soup and fried rice. Food was awesome and hospitality was great.
Amazing service and food!
Food is ok, too sweet to my liking.
After long hours traveling, we deserved hot comforting food and found it here! We had pho and toam kha khai, doa coffee, and we enjoyed our meal so much; we took some fresh spring rolls and pad thai to-go as well. We're only vacationing in MN, so we may not come back this way again, but we enjoyed our first meal immensely! Thank you, Ruam Mit.
It was pretty good but my friends thought it was trying to cater to the tastes of Americans rather than being authentic. I enjoyed my duck curry immensely but the salad was just ok. Special egg rolls were not that special, probably should have gotten the Satay. Good but not super.
Great dining!
We had just finished a chamber orchestra concert and popped in. What a great restaurant. The staff were so helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was absolutely delicious. My husband had the curry dish over spinach and I had Matsaman curry with chicken. The chicken was so tender, literally melt in your mouth! The mango sticky rice was a great end to a very wonderful meal.
Everything was awesome. I had the #34 pad park, phew it was beautiful. How can i leave without taking this food home but i have to do it. There will be more visits. The owner personalizes your experience and the service was great not 1 complaint here! a kiss to this place!
Amazing food! One of the most consistently great places, no matter the time or day. Eating in has been slightly better than takeout, but that’s to be expected. We've been loyal customers for years.
The food was pretty good, I would go back to try other menu options! I had the thai iced tea, which is always delicious. For food, I ordered the Bung Bo and the shrimp in a blanket. I had ordered the food to-go but the inside had a decent amount of seating. Hopefully I can come by for another lunch!
Amazing food. Service was awesome, we ordered only apps and the apps were brought out one at a time so we could enjoy each one on its own. Loved that!

Food was impeccable. All of the vegetables, rice and meats were cooked perfectly. Huge bummer they were out of crab but the shrimp was cooked excellently. The sake was phenomenal and the decor charming, also loved their choices of plates for serving. Only minor complaint was after our orders were taken( appetizers included) and they had to come back to share that they didn't have the soft shell crab available, no worries, we can adjust, however my entree had come out before my partners so it was torture being polite and waiting for their meal to come out before I could dig in. That's the smallest thing to complain about and definitely will not keep me from making the two hour trip to come back again!
If you like Thai Food, there is no better place in all of Minnesota than Ryan-Mit Thai. The food is outstanding. Lots of flavor and right amount of spice (spice level 4) I recommend the chicken satay( tenderloins marinated for for 2 days and cooked on a stick) my wife loves the pad thai . The service is amazing. The owner comes around and chats and really gets to know the people in his restaurant. He also happened to run out after me after I left my phone inside by accident.
Definitely the only Thai place worth eating in Minnesota
Very tasty!
Our first time in Minnesota and we walked past this place and so glad we did! The food was incredible, great atmosphere, and amazing service. I would highly recommend it to anyone
Loved that there were clear vegan options! The food was amazing and the staff very friendly.
We can in as a party of six with different food allergies and some vegan needs. Everyone was able to find a delicious option and we even got an extra chicken satay to go.
Tried it. Was ok. Pho noodles overcooked and too soft. Told wait staff it was all bunched together and breaking apart.
We were offered a 20 to 30 minutes wait time. After waiting for 35 minutes we asked for an update and were informed that it was going to be up to an hour and a half in a very rude manner. Awful service.
Walked in without a reservation and were offered a 20-25 minute wait. After waiting for 35 minutes and checking in on the progress we were told to wait up to another 1.5h! We were at the restaurant in plain visibility of the host that didn’t even bother to mention that the time changed.
We were told that wait time is 20-30 min. After 35 minutes of waiting, we were told that it would be another hour, we told you so. Wasted time.
Best Thai around
Delicious late lunch/dinner.. but very clearly filled form the brim with MSG: I experienced heart palpations after an hour of beginning our meal and uncharacteristically had narchaleptic tendencies within an hour of completing the meal (falling asleep twice sitting up, though usually have such energy levels I'm not able to nap if I try). I then had a spell of insomnia lasting late into the night. And all this in spite of our server adamentaly promising "no MSG!". And they probably cover their food in toxic oils and sugar. Sadly, another American crime example of poison-for-food.
Among the best Thai restaurants in the Twin Cities. Flavorful on the spot dishes. Great curry dishes and the freshest springrolls in town. Give the stuffed chicken wings a try.
Excellent thai food!
Wonderful all around experience. Food is superb.
Eggrolls are awesome and staff is amazing!
Wanted to love this place but it was just okay. The only thing I liked was the Nam Khao, which was solid! Pad see yew was okay, but it was not the expected flavor profile--felt like it was missing the fish sauce, oyster sauce and sugar for that addictive flavor/balance.
The stuffed chicken wings were fried well and I was able to gobble up the wing tip, but there was a bit too much black pepper and noodles in the filling for my preference.
The Gai Yaang is not the usual grilled type, but slow roasted/simmered in coconut milk and yellow curry. If they were trying to go for the galae style, tasted zero coconut milk/spices, it was mostly salty and the balance was just off. Chicken was very tender at least. Didn't come with the sweet chili sauce as mentioned but a weird vinegar dip.
Green thai iced tea was also kinda too sweet 🥲
Maybe it was an off day idk but not a place that blew me away or maybe I didn't order the right items 🤷🏻♀️
Food was very good. They have a sign stating you get a discount for paying cash. Did not receive the discount. I did have a living wage service charge added to my total. I will not be going back. Shame.
Curry fried rice was delicious, generously portioned, and best of all, reasonably priced. Will 100% be returning!
Love it
Thank you you guys are amazing the lumpia is amazing thank you thank you I was feeling homesick and being from Hawaii and saying lumpia was the best so if you get a chance to go you'll enjoy it highly recommend
Mouth-watering food and excellent service!! I ordered to-go and it was ready in 10 minutes; plus they offered me water while I waited and another one to go. I can't wait to go back and dine in.
Best
The food is great and the staff are friendly. One of my favorite Thai restaurants in the Metro.
Some good food
This place is a 10/10. The food is awesome, people are polite, and no matter what you pick off the menu its Great food. The spice is just right and will most definitely be back.
Still the best food in downtown Saint Paul.
Ruam mit is amazing 😍 the sticky rice, spring rolls, special egg rolls, #34 with tofu and #37 with chicken are our go tos!
I was a bit leery from some of the reviews, but I'm happy to say we were all very impressed with everything.
The food was really good I will give them that. But I ate alone and they charged me extra for gratuity and also living wage charge they guy tips himself $12 without even asking me I don’t know that I will eat here again just based on the terrible service the workers were walking around playing with each others hair and I had to request many time for more water to drink before I got any and I was the only person in the restaurant. So very terrible service!!!
Disappointing service a vast majority of the times I've decided to eat here. Expensive. They don't list the prices on their websites menu. I Watched 3 employees braiding each others hair, in an empty restaurant, and my food was still 20 minutes late. No updates from staff. There are much better Thai restaurants, save your time and money
Thank you for excellent food and service!
Our server Jose was very welcoming and attentive. He was knowledgeable about the menu and kindly answered our questions. After we were served, Jose checked back with us to see that all was well with our meals. Throughout dinner Jose kept our water glasses filled and also brought us fresh hot water for our tea. Great service!
Every dish we have ever ordered at Ruam Mit has been delicious. Very flavorful, rich and fresh. Truly an enjoyable dining experience.
It is so unfortunate that I did not take any pictures, but when the food is this good, you don't want to wait a single second! We ended up coming here for a friend's birthday and ordered a ton of food. We tried the fried cream cheese wontons and bahn xeo as appetizers. The wontons were perfectly fried, and very sweet. Bahn Xeo is eggy, meaty, and full of bean sprouts; it has a lot of great textures and flavors, and it's HUGE. For dinner, my friend had the laab, which he said was delicious, and had great heat. I am a huge fan of nam khao, and theirs was delicious: tangy, crunchy, and flavorful. Price-wise, I would say their portion sizes are great. The atmosphere of this restaurant is also excellent. Full of greenery and gorgeous decor, plenty of seating. I imagine this is just the coziest place in the wintertime. Patio seating is available if you want it. Looking forward to making this my new favorite place to go!
Love the new location! The curry puffs are delicious and pad thai as well.
...absolutely the worst Thai food I have ever had.
Been a Ruam Mit fan for years. The new restaurant is beautiful and comfortable. Same great food. Yum!
Delicious excellent fabulous top tier Thai. The Pad Keow Waan with tofu was absolutely perfect, I wish I had room to eat more.
Shrimp in a Blanket appetizer features a crispy thin wrapper and a plump tender shrimp which makes a tasty bite. We had two different main courses and both were delicious with rich sauce and still-crunchy vegetables. Word to the wise: their spicy scale of 1-5 is serious. I opted for 2 and it was right at my upper limit. Service was friendly and engaging and orders came out in timely fashion. We plan to go back soon.
The Pad Pak I ordered was exceedingly salty.
Duck coconut curry was delicious!!
cannot believe how bad the food was, so shocking. Completely fake Thai food please go somewhere else.
This is a fantastic spot and I was sad to miss the grand opening. When you walk in the place is filled with natural light and full of plants and earth tones. It has lots of tasteful Thai decorations strategically planted keeping it looking modern and chic. We were seated right away and our server was Kylie. We stopped in for lunch and started with a nice chilled white wine that was refreshing. Then came out the stuffed chicken wings that were stuffed to perfection with the perfect blends of species and seasoning making my picky friend savor each bite.
The spring roll was fantastic and you could taste all the fresh ingredients inside. The shrimp was not rubbery and hard and the dipping sauce was not overly sweet and tasted as if it came out of a jar. The mussaman curry was fantastic it was warm and filling. It was very hardy and creamy and had lots of delicate spices that overload your taste buds. I have had this done at other Thai places in the twin cities and it's always watered down or full of potatoes making it look more like a watery potato soup. This one had the perfect consistency and blend. Everything in it was cooked to perfection.
The egg drop soup was also perfectly made. It was not Wattery-like a soup broth made from a packet that you mix with water. It had God flavors and was not like gelatin and the eggs as well as all the other ingredients looked to be in perfect harmony with one another.
Kylie was an amazing server and made sure we had all we needed. All her recommendations were very good and the rest of the staff were amazing as well. Everyone was very polite and welcoming. I will definitely be going back.
LOVE THIS PLACE !!!
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE
We made a reservation here on a Saturday and had our order taken just fine once we were seated. However, when our food came, one person in our party was given the wrong dish. We immediately let the staff know she didn't order that dish, and assumed that the waiter must've misheard. It then took at least 5 different people, including the manager, to hear our story before they put in the order for her correct food, which then took another 20 minutes to arrive. After this, we were charged for both dishes, and we requested to not be charged for the dish that was brought accidentally. After another conversation with the manager, we were given a new bill. This bill, however, had 20% gratuity already added, a charge greater than the erroneous dish. We were not told about this charge-- we had to find it ourselves. At this point we were so tired we just left and paid, but we will NEVER be returning--a shame, because the food was delicious.
Great food, wonderful staff and welcoming environment. Best Curry in St. Paul!
I wanted to rate this place well. There was unfortunatly a language barrier with our waiter and the outcome was a mess. One of our orders was never placed till the rest of us were almost done eating and it was mentioned to our waiter. I was given an add on for soup that I never ordered and someone else had chicken added to their rice order that they never added. One of us was billed for something they never received. The person who's order was never placed till the rest of us were almost done always orders mild food, but what they received was covered in what looked like chili powder and had chicken when no meat was ever added to that order. One bite and they were unfortunatly in tears. They said to just cancel their order because we had plans and needed to leave. The restaraunt tried service recovery to fix the order that had what looked like thai chili powder (or whatever it was) in order to get us the right thing even though the customer said to cancel the order and sent her order back, but by that time the rest of us were done eating and the person at our table had alrrleady watched everyone else eat their meal and we were on a schedule so we had to go. The food couldn't sit in the car for hours till we would have been home. The food that we did receive did taste good. The Pad Thai, Curry and Spring Rolls were good. Waiter should repeat order so people understand him and definitly check your bill before you pay to make sure everyone is charged correctly. If you forget to put an order in then just aplogize to the customer. Took what seemed like forever to get our bill and food. All of us but 1 person who was still waiting for her food had been done eating for at least 30 minutes before we got the bill.
Amazing, simply amazing! The chicken curry is the best I've ever had. You can't go wrong with eating here, definitely a hidden gem. The new location is beautiful, with a lot of care being put into the details. The outdoor space is an awesome upgrade, and we can't wait to eat here over and over again :)
I never knew of the place. My wife ordered the veggie egg rolls and veggie fried rice. And it was top tier.
Egg rolls I say is a 9/10 - basic GREAT egg roll. Don’t expect extravagant. It’s just a natural taste of an amazing egg roll
The Fried Rice is maybe 7-8/10 - same basic great fried rice.
This is definitely my new go to spot when I want egg rolls and fried rice. I have yet to try anything else but I had to share this new found spot for myself.
Decided to come here instead of the nearby Chipotle and I’m so glad we did, the Thai Ice Tea was so perfectly sweet and creamy. And my Fried Rice was the absolutely perfect level of spice, I went for Medium and it wasn’t so spicy I couldn’t stand it but still spicy enough to taste amazing.
The staff were amazing and even talked to us about a few of the dishes and various other things.
We will definitely be coming back, it was too pleasant of an experience to not have it again!
This food here is terrible. Tried it again after needing a refund for my last order 4 years ago. No improvement. Green Curry comes served like a stir fry made with 80% soggy broccoli, some dry chicken, and barely any curry. You can see in the picture that a different curry order was served properly. Rice was congealed and soggy as well. Ordered hot (4 of 5) spice level—wasn’t spicy at all. They are higher priced than competitors and add a wage fee on top of listed prices. It also took nearly an hour for a takeout order. There’s so much good Thai in St. Paul, choose another place.
Sweet Thai food? That's a new one for me. I ordered two items, veggie eggrolls were good, with the exception of the VERY sweet dipping sauce. Next, Pad Thai, I've never had dark brown Pad Thai, I thought I had received a beef dish, nope, I spoke with the manager (,maybe owner) and she said "All of our food is sweet," then offered to take it off the tab. So, if you enjoy sweet Thai food give Ruam Mit Thai a try. I forgot to take a pic to share of the Pad Thai, but did of veggie eggroll.
This was some of the best Thai food we've found in the metro area. My husband said the peanut butter sauce that we added for the spring rolls was one of the best peanut sauces he's ever had and I fell in love with the egg rolls and chicken curry. We will definitely be back!
Me and my wife absolutely love this place. We had Pad Keow Waan with tofu, Pad See Lew, wontons, spring rolls, fried wings and mango sticky rice. Food was amazing. Dom and Mel provided the best service. Will be coming back forsure especially to get the stuffed wings.
I dined at the old location for my birthday last July. I dined at the new location last night for my birthday this year. Although the new location is beautiful, the service, quality of food, and portions were so disappointing. I loved the old location’s food. I will not be returning to the new one.
As someone who grew up going to Raum Mit, I was excited to visit again during a trip to Saint Paul since moving to Houston. However, I was disappointed to find that the food quality had declined after the restaurant changed locations. The chicken pad thai was oily, flavor was different, and the chicken was dry and bland, a far cry from the delicious dish I remembered. The fried chicken wings were also lackluster and unappetizing. The only saving grace were the special egg rolls, which were still just as I remembered them. Overall, this experience was a letdown and doesn't make me eager to return. It's a shame to see a once-trusted spot for Thai food fall short.
I came here and tried this place by myself and the service wasn’t the greatest but the food was great. So thought I’d give it another try and bring two others with me. We walked in, and the host couldn’t figure out where to seat us when there were multiple tables open, sat us at a table for 2 with my party of 3, when there was another table 5 feet away that could’ve accommodated us. We then sat there for almost 10 mins never once acknowledged by any of the staff, while 6 employees were just up front just chatting. We got up and left. To charge a 7% service charge I expect a little bit more from an establishment. It’s too bad because your food is great, but the service is so terrible I don’t think I’ll ever return no recommend this place.
First, our food was awesome, as always. But I was very disappointed in our service last night. We had brought my brother and his kids who were visiting from North Carolina telling them about how great the restaurant was and then we ended up being embarrassed at the experience.
We had made a reservation and were seated right away. Waters were brought to our table as soon as we were seated. We then waited and waited, we finally went and asked for a server to wait on us. It was not that busy and there were plenty of staff, so not sure why the wait. Our waiter then came and took our order, no apology for the wait. We ordered a few appetizers, one being the entree with the deep fried tilapia, which we specifically said we wanted as an appetizer to share. A little bit later our waiter came to take our entree order after bringing drinks. I said we did want an order of pad thai to go and wanted to know when to order so that it came closer to us leaving, the waiter said he could take the order now and would let the kitchen know to make it later.
Spring rolls and cream cheese wontons came, no tilapia. Then our entree orders started to come. Takeout pad thai order came before my entree came. I had to ask about the tilapia, they said it would be coming. After we all got our entrees, still no tilapia, so asked again. Someone came to our table later to say the preparation of the tilapia takes longer. The tilapia came as we were finishing our entrees.
I get that it took longer for the tilapia, but why didn't the waiter tell us that when I specifically said we wanted to share as an appetizer. We weren't in a hurry, we could have slowed things down.
It will be really tough to go back to dine-in again. The new space is nice and the food was very good but you really need to improve your service.
Good food. Good portion sizes and the price is a bit more than most Thai restaurants. However, the service is horrible. After long waits, I had to walk to the hostess desk twice requesting somebody to take our order. The host was wonderful. She had told kaylee twice to come take our order.
There was a very long wait for food to be prepared. Nobody asked us how the food was. And we had to wave at another server for a while to get the check. Just ridiculous. Please improve the service. :(
Pictured here is the egg rolls, pad Thai and special spicy noodles. Asked for pad Thai to be 7 on the spice level, but it was sweet. Please note that there is a service fee applied to each bill.
One of my favorite restaurants in the metro. Food is always delicious and quick even when they are really busy.
We came in for lunch and waited quite a while before asking where are server is so we can order our food. Also, when I asked for hot water the server didn’t understand me and had to get someone else.
I order the egg drop soup and it is not what you would expect. Not the usual thick egg drop soup you would get at a Chinese restaurant. The taste was good enough. The pai thai was pretty good other than noodles breaking a lot. Not long noodles. Along came the beef salad. Very little beef cut up tiny pieces and lots and lots of red onion in the mix. Lettuce in the side, not a bed of lettuce. Lastly, the banh xeo. It’s not whole shrimp, it cut up into small little pieces and lots on bean sprout. They don’t give you all the sides that a Vietnamese original dish would. Overall rating was okay. I wouldn’t go again though. Not authentic enough for a true Asian food eater. Not Asian spicy as well.
This food was literal heaven. My green curry was heaven. The wait time took longer than expected/quoted but they kept me updated and have a comfy waiting area.
Was a little wait but that’s when you know it’s good, love the new location, food still amazing, new staff welcoming and all around awesome love
The food was exceptional, in my opinion. The service was kind of slow but it was busy while we were there. They don’t have a full bar, only beer and wine, so don’t expect any non-menu cocktails.
Best Pad Thai and springroll/eggŕoll I've had. My partner agreed. Reserved a table and took 45 minutes to get food but worth the wait. Thai iced tea was yummy too
Yesterday evening we had dinner here and ordered some to go. Most of the food, was good, but disappointed in how dry the chicken was in our dishes. At the restaurant we had chicken/shrimp pineapple fried rice, chicken pad see lew, beef laab and pork egg rolls. Had 2 orders of the chicken satay to go and they were all so dry that we couldn't eat them, even my kids wouldn't touch them. Save your money and stay away from the chicken. The service could be better, our water was not refilled until we were almost done eating.
#1 Thai Restaurant!
I do enjoy the food at Raum Mit. We supported the restaurant through the pandemic by ordering out as often as we could. I'm dismayed however that they have jumped on the junk fee bandwagon. The 7% fee, while mentioned on the menu is in essence dishonest. They say it's for the employee yet the customer is still expected to tip 15% to 20%. This adds upwards of 27% to the total bill,. Thankfully the state legislature has banned these fees - Raum Hit should really consider removing it before they have to. Be honest. The cost is the cost. No hidden fees.
The food is always excellent and the new location is open and spacious with very cute decor. So happy to see this restaurant reopen!!
Went with my son. We had the wings and vegetable egg rolls. Wish we got the sauce on the wings cause it's kind of hard to dip but my son is 5 and wanted it on the side. (Next time we'll get our own instead of sharing) The egg rolls were the best vegetable egg rolls I've ever had. Service was a little slow and the restaurant wasn't busy but staff was friendly. I will definitely return.
Ruam Mit has always been my favorite Thai restaurant in the Twin Cities. The new location and its clean fresh environment just separates it more from the others. We went on a Sunday late afternoon after a play so it wasn't busy, but the service was great. The staff were friendly and timely. Server did a great job of being available but not hovering. Food was exactly what we ordered and expected. I ordered the Pad Prig Khing med-hot spice, they spice at Thai levels, not Minny I think ketchup is spicy level. My wife order chicken Pad Thai mild spice. We both thought our food was flavorful and the spice levels were as expected. I over ate and cleaned my bowl. My wife ate a more reasonable amount and had plenty to take home for lunch the next day.
I don't live close enough to make it my regular restaurant, but once the flooding goes away and opens up Warner Rd, I will be ordering for pickup on my way home from work quite often.
Food was excellent as always, but had to wait an hour and 20 minutes for takeout food when told 25 min on the phone and 40min when I ordered online.
as someone who grew up eating food made by my thai grandmother, i am extremely disappointed. while the service was good and the atmosphere was nice, the food was so bland. i don't think they even used salt. my soup tasted as though they put water instead of broth, and was so overpowered by the green onions that it was all i tasted. i paid $1.50 to add chicken to my wonton soup and it was just plain boiled chicken and had no taste. the curry puffs were bland. the egg drop soup was just water with scrambled eggs and scallions. i will not be coming back as i feel this was nothing but i waste of time and money. and i do not encourage anyone else to eat here
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the new Raum Mit location in downtown St. Paul. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable with big windows and comfy booth and chair seating. The food was delicious and we ate every bite of what we ordered. My husband got the Bahn Xeo with shrimp and I had the Bung Bo with chicken. We shared chicken satay and the special egg rolls. It was all perfectly cooked with such wonderful layers of flavor. To top it off they have Coke Zero on tap! They of course have a good selection of teas, coffees, wines and beers.
Our server, Elijah provided spot on service and he was so kind and engaging. Highly recommend Raum Mit!
Since the move this restaurant is such an overall great experience. The food is still amazing and the service is plentiful and so much faster! The atmosphere is really beautiful inside and that's a huge change. Nice job, Ruam Mit!
Food was okay, nothing spectacular. The service was very slow, waiters were friendly and if wasn’t a busy a day so I’m not sure why everything was as slow as it was on their end, but it got to be annoying
Excellent!!! Clean delicious friendly and accommodating. Love this place and family!
My partner and I are so happy this place is back! We eat at A LOT of Thai restaurants but this place has become one of our staples. The food is absolutely incredible and continues to impress. The egg rolls are the best I've had in some time, so perfectly crispy on the outside. The fried wings are so flavorful and perfectly spicy. I don't know how they get them so crispy without breading but it's amazing. I love their green curry, and my partner loves the spicy noodle special. The balance between spice and flavor is perfection. I really can't say enough good things.
The owner / chef chatted with us briefly and seemed like a really cool and down to earth guy. I like to know my money is going to something locally owned. Definitely check this place out!!
excelente trato y servicio, la comida muy deliciosa, muy buen ambiente lo recomiendo
We were sat right away but after 15min had to ask for service. They provided a drink menu only to be told they didn't have a liquor license. They were out of the first appetizer we asked for so settled for fried wontons that were well over fried. Our entree meat was dry and the noodles overcooked. We had to again hunt down service to pay only to be charged someone else's account. Not well organized at all.
I waiver between a 3 and 4. The food taste is excellent, however, I find the portions small for the money you pay, especially with the surcharge. Having to divide potatoes so everyone can have a 2nd helping of the massaman curry just seems wrong. We arrived home and the chicken satay had melted through their container and the sauce for the cream puffs had come open and was all over the cream puffs. We spent $100 for 2 entrees, 2 appetizers, and 1 dessert.
Good food, slow service. That said, the good outweighs the slow and I would definitely go again.
Best pad thai in the Twin Cities!
This place is awesome!! Well labeled menu for veg, GF, and pescatarian. The food is fresh, authentic, and delicious! The service is excellent. However, it is not fast food! There may be a short wait for your table, etc. Relax and enjoy. Ruam Mit is a true gem 💎
This is the old building which isn't there anymore. The new building is on 5th and Wabasha with the same great food and an updated atmosphere.
This was our first trip to the new Ruam Mit after years of enjoying the old. It feels like they are trying to up there game, for some reason, but I’m not so sure their game is upped, nor needed to be. Beef and squid salads were so so but small, with literally 1 oz of meat (like maybe would fill a shot glass). The moo gratiem (garlic pork) was not good. Pork strips just a few steps removed from jerky and a very salty gritty gravy, with overcooked rice. It made me very leery to try the pad krapow as I wonder if it’s been altered from the minced, lightly gravyed version found all over Thailand as the moo gratiem has been—that’s an educated guess, however. The curry puffs were also small but were good. Service was okay but one salad ordered medium spice came with no spice and all that was offered was a finely grated chili flake shaker (no chili oil, prig nam pla, etc.). Sticky rice was spot on and Thai tea was good though sweet. We’ll go back to try noodles and curry, but I’m afraid a too-cute menu catered to farang has Ruam Mit missing the target so far. And $80 for 2 salads, 1 entree, 1 appetizer, and 1 tea.
The curries were too sweet for my taste and the chicken was very dry but the spring rolls were great and the staff excellent.
The new space only enhances the already incredible food! If you like Thai food, this place is a must!
The location and atmosphere are very nice. The food is great. The service is not good. The tall guy with blond hair seems to have a flow. A guy who wears a bandana is energetic and friendly. We’ve had another male server two weeks in a row who is very disorganized. He doesn’t seem to pay attention to who came in first. You wait forever for him to take your order. He also doesn’t think to take your drink order before your dinner order. Your drink won’t show up until after your dinner and that’s just because you remind him. He doesn’t come back to check on you. It seems like a service manager is needed on the floor and more training is needed. I’ll try carry out next time because the food is great. I love it.
Food is great, atmosphere would be just fine if it wasn't for the service. The service is absolutely horrible. You will sit 4 10-15 minutes and if you're lucky someone will come up and ask you if anyone has taken your order yet. We've been here twice and it's happened both times. Also, both times my wife's diet coke never showed up until we flagged another server down and asked for it again. Don't expect an apology either. They have enough people, but they don't seem to know what they're doing. No one seems to have any idea which tables were already visited by a server, had orders taken, who is waiting for appetizers et cetera. And forget being checked on to see if everything is o k.
I hate to give this kind of review but it is 100% true. It is really too bad because again food is great. I hope the folks running the business will pay attention and get this squared away. Maybe with a little time, they'll come around.
Presented a drink menu but was told they didn't have their liquor license after requesting a drink. Appetizer was delicious and came out quick but entrees took 40+ minutes with little explanation for why service was slow.
Since when did restaurants stop taking orders over the phone? Why do I have to make an account through a third party that upcharges the price of the food for using the service? And it doesn't have an option to pay with cash only a card. I really wanted to try this restaurant but it was too inconvenient.
We had a reservation and arrived exactly on time, hoping to leave for a show within 45 minutes or so (with some wiggle room). Doesn’t seem like the reservation mattered as we still had to wait a significant amount of time. Took awhile to get waited on so we made our full order right away. We got our spring rolls and my Pad Thai in a timely manner and the food was delicious. However, my husband was not getting his dish. We shared the Pad Thai while we waited for the other dish and finally when we could wait no longer and had to leave (almost half an hour past when we originally wanted to leave), we asked the waiter to either box my husband’s meal up if it was ready in the kitchen , or take it off the bill. The waiter went to the kitchen, gone for another period, and finally came out with the boxed-up food. My husband ordered the #36, in the attached picture of the menu. What we found when we got home and looked at it was the other attached picture. How does this happen?
Would also agree with others that the 7% “surcharge” is an awful way to conduct business. Pay the workers more and raise your prices if you have to. Trying to figure out a 20% tip on the cost of the meal minus 7% all while the waiter is standing there with their electronic transaction device waiting for you to finish the transaction is not a good experience.
So, actual food, five stars, experience other than that, one star. Giving overall three stars strictly because of the quality of the food itself.
Came in for the first time yesterday and the food was great! I went around 3 and it was not busy. Took maybe 10 min for the appetizer and another 10 for the entree. Staff was also very kind and attentive to our table. For an appetizer, I got the veggie egg rolls and it was so good! 10/10. My entree was the bung bo with tofu and it was so delicious. I've never had bung bo before so I didn't have a reference to compare to but I would give it a 9/10. My partner got the pad Thai and it was good but not the best I've had, 7/10 (still good!). I'll definitely be coming back to try out other menu items
Overall 9/10
I think we’ll wait and let them get settled in. I love the owners and family; we were dedicated to eating there all of the time. Maybe we went too soon after they opened on May 10th. I ordered #30 with tofu and mixed vegetables; came out with chicken and just spinach and barely any sauce. Both apps were cold; asked for peanut sauce twice never got it. I loved the food before; just need to let them get more staff and get things more settled. Went for dinner. I too am not a fan at all of charging 7% wage or cost of living however you want to spin it- that is on you as the employer; not me and we ended up tipping less because of it. We’ll wait and do take out.
Had a pleasant lunch at Ruam Mit. Food came out hot, fresh, ready to eat. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Welcome back to Saint Paul!
We just had lunch at the new Ruam Mit Thai location, and it was phenomenal! The restaurant is gorgeous and the ambiance is great. Our food was delicious, hot, and served quickly, even though it was their first day of lunch service at the new location! I maintain that this is the best pad Thai in the Twin Cities (with tons of other gems on the menu too). We’ll be back soon!
Love the new location! Same great food - LOVE the special egg rolls!
There are a few things that resulted in my average score. Staff was nice but clearly understaffed. Five minutes just to be greeted by the waiter, 40+ minutes to actually get our food. Had the food been stellar the wait may have been worth it, but my chicken came out lukewarm and somewhat dry. The dish overall was okay but not my favorite in taste and combination, but it’s not a judge of the entire menu.
Atmosphere was very nice and had a great aesthetic to it.
My last gripe is a hidden 7% “livable wage“ fee that is in the fine print listed on the menu. I would have no problems paying higher prices, but hiding a fee in the menu and then having to tip on top of that, I think is dishonest.
Please be patient, it's just opened.. Your not the only person that's been waiting for this delicious food.. More understanding less complaining with others wait. . So glad your open. Looks beautiful
Love the food, hope the new location works out. we had a couple of rough spots with our most recent take out order. Placed the order at about 8:20 PM, didn't see anything about it being too late until I paid, then I received a confirmation that the order would be ready the NEXT DAY at noon. And while I don't bemoan a 7% "Living Wage Service Charge", it would be nice to know that up front, not after leaving a 20% tip. Finally, I ordered the Bung Bo with thin rice noodles, got wide noodles instead. Maybe they were out of the thin? Some bugs to work out, but we'll be back.
Delicious! I’m so glad they reopened and are settled in their new spot. Best takeout. The Pha Ram Long Song was lovely :)
It sucks that they dont/won't deliver threw Bite Squad or Grub Hub.
It's also ridiculous how they dont answer they telephone in a timely manner.
But the food is on point!
This is the best Thai food in Minnesota. I bring all my friends here. Pre-pandemic it was like being a part of Cheers set - we were regulars and staff knew our name.
The papaya salad was so tasty! Pho and fish dish was average. Wonton and egg rolls were a bit overcooked but we love that they have chicken option. Customer service was good. It took over 45 minutes to get our food. Would like to come back and try the other foods on the menu.
