Authentic Thai cuisine, family owned and operated.
Large menu - lots of options. Food was super flavorful and staff was very friendly.
Note: there is a 4% extra charge if you choose to pay using a card
The place has dim lighting so at a glance it looks like it is closed but when you get inside, there are several booths and these fun blue hanging lights
(booths will tip forward though if you sit on the edge)
Spice level can be customized (1-10), we ordered:
🍅 Tom Yum (level 2 spice): surprisingly this nicely counteracted the Khao Pad-Ga-Prow's spice, little too sour for me but otherwise really good (7/10)
🍳 Khao Pad-Ga-Prow: really good stir fry and the egg was a nice touch to the overall dish (9/10)
🦑 Crispy Calamari: very fun and crispy (8/10)
🧋 Thai tea: less fragrant than green tea (8/10)
🍵 green tea: fragrant but in a nice way, initially tastes sweet but then you the fragrant tea flavor at end. My personal favorite of the night (10/10)✨
Overall a lovely space with great food! I recommend stopping by if you are in the area
43. Yen Tha Poe is wildly good, tho you gotta be ready for high levels of fermented tangy/sour fragrance and taste of broth. Spice level 5/10, which was a good level for comfortable eating. Lovely array of seafood and veggies. Great for a lighter soup with a fermented edge.
Our group of seven came in around 7pm and the staff let us stay until around 9pm long after closing on new Year's Day, even with a long rush of takeout drivers waiting in a long line at the front. Cheers to them 🥂
I recently had the pleasure of dining at On’s Kitchen, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the service was impeccable. We sampled a variety of dishes, each one better than the last.
We started with the chicken satay, which was perfectly grilled and accompanied by a rich, flavorful peanut sauce. The crab cakes were a standout, with a crispy exterior and a succulent, well-seasoned filling that melted in the mouth.
The Thai red curry was another highlight, boasting a perfect balance of spices and a rich, creamy coconut milk base that paired wonderfully with the tender pieces of chicken. The mussels were fresh and cooked to perfection, swimming in a delicious broth that was perfect for dipping.
The steamed fish was the crowning glory of the meal. It was tender, flaky, and infused with subtle, aromatic flavors that showcased the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chef.
Overall, On’s Kitchen provided a delightful culinary experience with every dish executed to perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to enjoy authentic and delicious Thai cuisine.
Service was fast. The food I ordered was delicious, but the nam khao had way too much liquid. There was a lot of lime juice or water from the iceberg lettuce. It wasn't bad, but it was just very tart. I didn't need to squeeze the lime juice that they gave me because the dish was already very sour. The fried chicken was very crispy and overcooked for my taste. Serving size was good for the price.
... Update to this review: There were actually no belittling comments made by my girlfriend or myself. There was no empathy or even "I'm sorry." from the person we spoke with and we were told it's our fault and that we don't know how to handle spice. We've eaten here many times before and hadn't had an experience like this. When you treat every customer who has a bad experience like they are the one's who are wrong, that's a poor way to run a business. You lose customers that way pretty easily. Your replies to all the low reviews reflect this, as if though you could never be wrong. I'm sorry to have inconvenienced you by giving you our business and communicating our bad experience.
Original Review: My girlfriend and I ordered food for takeout. We both ordered medium-spicy. When my girlfriend took a few bites of her food, her mouth was on fire and she was in tears for 15 minutes. Even after having ice cream and milk, her mouth was still burning.
My meal was also medium-spicy and was no where near the same level of spice that my girlfriends meal was.
AND THEN…. The strawberry flavored bubble tea is now Pepto Bismol-flavored. I’ve had the strawberry flavor here before two years ago and it was not this flavor. I know it’s not ACTUALLY pepto bismol, but it tastes exactly the same. They must have a different supplier now, maybe it’s a pharmacy. But I appreciate the help from the pepto bismol tea on our stomachs after that level 9 spice in our meals.
Then we called the restaurant to let them know about our experience and there was zero sympathy for our experience and weird flavored tea. The manager immediately suggested we use milk to calm the burn like we were born yesterday. Also, she didn’t even apologize, she just argued with us telling us not to order spicy next time! Ma’am this was supposed to be medium spicy, not a ghost-pepper eating contest.
So if you ever have issues and want to complain to the manager, just do it here. The manager will never take accountability and just argues. In the end, she hung up on us. This is a great way to make a good name for your restaurant.
Thank you so much.
It simply wasn’t the same restaurant. I visited the restaurant frequently from 2014 to 2019, it was the best Thai food I have ever tried. My farther in law frequently went to Thailand for business and even him said the food tasted exactly like those food you get in Thailand. I left the area in 2019 and came back in 2024. The service was still great the waiter was very nice the environment was great, but the food was really not the same sadly. I don’t know what happened like change owner, change chief, just feel sad. It will still hold a special place in my heart as when I was dating my wife, we came here often.
Since the owner wants to know what is wrong with the food, here is what went wrong. The rice was not fully cooked, it was very hard to chew. Thailand has some of the world’s best rice, but today, the rice was barely eatable. All the dishes tasted the same, all we can taste was sweet.l and too sweet. The portion of the pork dish was significantly smaller and way too sweet. During the 1 hour meal, the there were just 3 tables with customers and a couple takeouts, it used to be 30 minutes wait at least back in 2019 and every time I went there I prayed that I can find a parking spot, but today my wife and I drove two cars and we were able to park behind the restaurant. Based on my limited sample, I feel this is a clear indication that the food quality was not the same as before. I sincerely wish I just visited on a wrong night and the food was actual the same. I will give it another try maybe in a few months and I will glad apologize I am wrong if next time the food meets my expectations.
I've never been disappointed with anything at this family restaurant. The food, service, and atmosphere are awesomesauce.
Little on spendier side

Excellent Thai food at an excellent price.
Great food, great service! Only recommendation would be adding a wall between kitchen and dining room. I did really like the food selection and that they allow you to pick your spicy level out of 10.
Great food, great vibe, 10/10.
Got a curry with tilapia
Update: I don’t think you guys truly understand the difference between a credit card and a debit card. Regardless of what your interpretation is, it is a FEDERAL LAW that states, it is illegal to charge a surcharge for a using a debit card. Which is completely different from a credit card. I should have know by your other responses that you would not truly take the time research and respond intelligently. Also, just because you guys post a sign stating you charge a 3% fee, doesn’t make it legal for you to do so. Pulled straight from Visa’s website “US Merchants cannot surcharge debit card or prepaid card purchases.” If you actually take the time to read the Durbin amendment like I had previously stated, I think you would understand what I’m talking about. You could also go and ask any business whether it’s legal or not to charge a fee for using a DEBIT Card and I guarantee they tell you no. Best of luck to you with your personal business interpretations! I hope the AG and FTC interpret the same way as you.
Visited On’s kitchen tonight and am honestly sad to have to give a family owned business 1 star. The food was great but I cannot allow them to continue to run their business with illegal practices. Everything was great up until our group got our bill. I noticed that there was a credit card fee added to our bill even before they knew what we were using to pay. My group was confused about this, so I went up to ask. When I got to the register the lady in the kitchen rudely says “do you need something?” I told her I was confused about the added credit card fee on the bill and stated it was illegal for them to charge us to use our own debit card. She snarked back and said something along the lines of “if you have anything that says visa, you get charged that fee.” I knew this was incorrect so I pulled up the information on Google and went back up to the register. I told the server to leave the charge on my receipt (because I wasn’t going to continue arguing) but what they are doing is illegal. He laughed like I didn’t know what I was talking about. This business, I’m assuming has been charging their customers to use their own money, which is illegal in all 50 states. I did give her an opportunity to fix the situation but all she gave was a snarky attitude. Also FYI, starting January 01, 2025, businesses are no longer allowed to charge itemized line items like surcharges and service fees. Based on the owners responses to other reviews, I have also attached pictures of the law but you can also google the new bill HF 3438 and the Durbin Amendment.
I love On's. It has a large menu, friendly and efficient staff, and delicious food. I went with 2 friends who also enjoyed it, although I don't know how they could order a 2/10 on the spice level! My 6/10 was almost perfect. I might venture into the 7/10 territory next time!

I've ordered delivery from here twice- both times it was hot and delicious! The pad thai is awesome and I love the chicken eggrolls.

On's Kitchen has been a wonderful place to stop into both for an in-person meal or for some lunch on the go. They have a wonderful variety of options regardless of one's dietary restrictions or habits, and their spice is simply nice. If ever you're in the area, definitely consider On's as an option.
Omg, so good.
Update: our server was such a sweethearts.
As usual, I always get my Pad See Ew which is on point! Then I tried the Cashew Stir Fried Chicken. That plate was CLEANED. That dish WOWed me! We also had Thai ice tea and coconut boba tea with jelly. Nothing was disappointed today. Want to come back soon.
My favorite Thai restaurant in the twin cities. When requested, they can deliver dishes so spicy that my eyes water looking at them. Yum!
That Pad Thai is too sour. Too much vinegar.
Spring roll was good.
On's Express on Cleveland. Avoid it. Staff uninterested in customer service. If you go be sure to check your order. The food we received ( in addition to not being what we ordered) was undercooked and forgettable
I had the Szechuan wontons and chili oil! It was really good ! Nice first date type atmosphere or just catching up!
I love this restaurant. Sometimes when it is packed the service is a little slow, but that's fine. It's a fun atmosphere. I like that if you ask for a spicy thai dish it is usually legit blow your mind spicy. Really good food.
This review is overdue, but I’m compelled due to some recent negative reviews to stand up for my favorite restaurant. I’ve been going to On’s for years. They are consistently the best Thai food in Minnesota. Always friendly and prompt. I bring out-of-towners here. I bring friends here. I bring colleagues here.
I usually get #70 because it’s so dang good, but you can’t go wrong with the menu. And they are true Thai spice on levels.
Don’t change On’s. And don’t listen to the haters. Much love to who you are and what you do.
Bringing some guys from the office later today for lunch…see you in an hour!
Glad to give 5 stars for service- sometimes (busy times) it can take a while to be acknowledged. Food is usually out pretty fast no matter what.
Didn’t even eat here after reading all the rules as well as the fact that they upcharge for credit card use. As a former small business owner I’m fully aware of credit card fee is a business write off. A cost of doing business that the business ultimately does not incur. Having an additional 3%revenue stream as that is your upcharge is not ok with me and shouldn’t be with any other of the prospective customers that walk in your door. Wake up it’s 2024 ownership! Make it easy and convenient for your potential customers to pay you. How many others do exactly what I did after the not so welcoming signing greeted them upon arrival? Also parking is a train wreck with 4x4 clearance needed to clear the gigantic pot holes in what they call a parking lot. So many other fantastic options in the area.
The rice was hard and crunchy meaning it was either undercooked or 2-3 days old. Not sure how a Thai restaurant gets rice wrong…? And for nearly $30 for one entree that’s an expensive mistake.
Mid/slow service and pretty good food. I see they also angrily respond to poor reviews here? Ew.
The first time I visited Minnesota, we were let in on a local secret: On’s Kitchen, the hidden gem of St. Paul. Thai Green Curry is usually my go-to, but after so many lackluster tries elsewhere, I wasn’t expecting anything life-changing. But from that first bite, I was hooked – the flavors were unreal! Every spoonful was a burst of flavor, and before I knew it, the bowl was empty. The restaurant has such a welcoming vibe, an impressive range of vegetarian options, and a spice scale from 1 to 10 (love that flexibility). The staff? Absolutely fantastic.
I loved the experience so much that today, I made the 30-minute drive just to celebrate my birthday here – if that doesn’t speak volumes, I don’t know what does! I’d highly recommend not only the Thai Green Curry but also their curry puffs, mango sticky rice, Thai tea, and cream cheese wontons. If you’re around, this place is a must-visit
Bro, I just had the best meal I’ve ever had at a Thai restaurant. And that’s saying something im addicted to Thai food. I got The Khao soi with chili oil on the side upon recommendation from my amazing server (very cheerful guy). Spicy, sour, sweet, umami flavors. Thai people just do it better. I also got a side of white rice. DUDE. BRO. I never leave reviews but I just had a project X party in my mouth. Lord help anyone going to mediocre Thai places when this is an option. BLESS this place and its employees.
On’s used to be one of the best Thai food places in the state. Sadly now it’s not even a top 5 Thai food spot on University Ave. My recent order of Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles was a watery flavorless mess which appeared to even have used the same sauce for both dishes. They both had the exact same bland flavor. Many better options in the area for good Thai food.

My favorite restaurant to go to when I go to the twin cities!!
I will literally drive out of my way from my home in Minneapolis to visit here for the tom yum soup ( with shrimp) - it's choose your own protein.
Every time I'm sick or under the weather or just needing some comfort food I crave On's !
Quality over quantity ★
I had chicken spring rolls and chicken pad see eiw. Spring rolls were good, but a little too much MSG/salt. I could literally taste it with a tiny bite. If they went low on their msg/salt, itd be a perfeft 10/10 spring roll. Pad see eiw had all the flavours but a little too over powered in a way that I couldnt even finish 1/3rd of the dish. Food was above mediocre.
They need to rename the restaurant to OFF’s kitchen. I used to recommend them to everyone, not anymore. I cried out of pain after a few bites of their medium spicy stir fry. My mouth would not stop burning. Water made it worse. Milk didn’t help. It felt like I had had a mouthful of jalapeños. And I had ordered “medium” spicy.
After crying in my living room for 15 minutes, chugging ice cream and milk, I called the restaurant to let them know. The manager said “Don’t order spicy next time”!! That’s it. No apologies. No “I’m sorry that sucks.” Nothing. And she hung up on me when I told her there will be no next time.
You guys need to understand that you are causing real harm to people by your terrible cooking.
On's Kitchen is a must-visit for authentic Thai food! The dishes are full of bold flavors, perfectly spiced, and made with fresh ingredients. The staff is super friendly, and the service is always quick, even when they’re busy. Whether you're craving classic Pad Thai or something more unique, On’s Kitchen delivers every time. Highly recommend for anyone who loves Thai cuisine!
Food was fine, less spicy than i would have liked (i ordered medium and it was very mild), but it was prepared quick and everyone was very friendly. I did take it out, so I wasn't there long, but the space was clean and there is parking out back. Would order again.
Best curry on the planet. I recommend the yellow, but also love the massaman!
One of our go-to spots for takeout. Delicious food in generous portions
I was very disappointed because AFTER stating that I have shrimp/shellfish allergy, neither the waiter nor the chef(s) caught the fact that Mein Kum has shrimp. Not only that, but I did not get compensation on the price either. 15 bucks for chopped onions and dried coconuts next to lime & pineapples?!!!! That is ridiculous. I thought it'd be more fulfilling and luxurious, or at least rich in portion. Plus, the pineapple curry I ordered as my main course did not have more than 2-3 scallops, and the whole dish is pineapples. I thought that was ridiculous considering the upcharge for adding scallops as my choice of protein, then not getting much of it whatsoever. I did not tip because of the reasons above. Waiter should have given me at least some sort of compensation. I'm very disappointed. Good food, but I did say for my dish to be only 2/10 spicy as my answer and it came flaming hot. That was not expected.
I'm just not sure why the waiter thinks his cavalier attitude is acceptable towards allergies without even offering compensation like a good waiter should.
Service was fast. The food I ordered was delicious, but the nam khao had way too much liquid. There was a lot of lime juice or water from the iceberg lettuce. My fave Thai place in the metro! Everything I’ve ever ordered is Authentic and so good!!
This small thai restaurant came highly recommended, but I left disappointed. Even my friend who had been there several times before said it was quite bad. The food was well prepared, but most of the dishes had far too much sauce and were too salty. The papaya salad with softshell crab was fairly good, but the pad see ewe was very saucy/salty and had no long noodles, only short broken bits. The other two dishes - pad ga prow and pad khana mu grop - tasted like they had the same sauce (very salty), but the ga prow had very little ingredients and was basically tofu soup while the khana mu grop at least had some veggies. I was particularly disappointed by the pad ga prow being basically soup, when I’m used to it being more of a stir fry - granted it’s usually with minced chicken, but this was very disappointing for $16 ($14 + $2 for tofu). The ambience is very dark and a bit stuffy, and the service was good, but took a very long time because they were busy and short-staffed. This may have been a bad day for them, but it’s still disappointing and I doubt I’ll be back to try again.
Still my favorite Thai food in town for a decade running. Incredibly friendly and accommodating staff.
Very Busy, but delicious..
There for take out. Took over 15 minutes for them to notice me and take order.
THIS is quality Thai food. You can tell the curry is LEGIT. Highly recommend this place. And if you like veggie dishes, the veggie assortment is excellent. Broccoli and cauliflower, etc, that taste perfectly cooked every time. My only complaint is the spice. They do 1-10, and I ordered a 10. My husband ordered a 3. His takeout box said “M - -“ and mine said “M +”. To me that reads like his was a 3 and mine was a 6. I didn’t even need to take a sip of water once while eating, so it didn’t taste like a 10 to me personally.
EXCELLENT food tho. Very quick service too for takeout.
The wonton soup was absolutely to die for!
Will absolutely visit again in the future!

Great place for legitimate Thai food. Especially legit spicy Thai food hahaha. A Saint Paul classic that never disappoints. You can get food that will burn your face off or just give you a nice little kick.
It's still somewhat affordable for the quality of the food.
Great local spot!
Absolutely disappointed. We've previously dined here and enjoyed almost everything we ordered so were excited to have my parents experience the same thing. Ordered over $80 worth of food, beef larb, kaopoon, kaomangai, and tripe soup. My parents shared that all the dishes were UNTASTY. Limes were tossed into both soup dishes and ruined the flavor turning it bitter and quite tart. The broth basically boiled the limes turning them brownish yellow. The larb looks nothing like larb but rather a watery stirfry and the khaomangai had some sad pieces of chicken breast a top a mushy block of rice. I'm so devasted to hear this and to see the video of the food they sent me. I did an uber eats delivery for fathers day. Spent so much money and my parents did not get to enjoy thus having to settle for scrambled eggs as they didnt prepare food anticipating this delivery. I would not order agin unless dining in
Edit: I tried to give an honest opinion but restaurant insisted on responding unprofessionally which shows through multiple reviews. Scratch being polite - will not be returning at all. I recommend not only working on how to prep your food for delivery, but also how you take in and handle feedback. No need to comment on my requests which was mild spice, and I had no complaints on spice, again that speaks volume to your unprofessionalism and pettiness. The video speaks for itself. Peace
As a native Thai, what I ordered should have been a slam dunk since they are typical street food : ช้าวมันไก่ & ข้าวหมูแดง. Instead the food were bland, dried and totally tasteless. The restaurant was in total chaos. Most of the waiters seem to be in hiding most of the time. Would never go there again.
This place is an absolute gem. Family owned with a friendly staff. Best Thai restaurant in MN.
I ordered the pad see yew with fries tofu. It was so flavorful and fresh. Highly recommend the food here!
I will always swear by On's and that's all you gotta know. 💜🙌
Love the food here. Highly recommend the Yellow Curry and Tom Yum!
Great food, good service, Mango salad and Tomyum soup was delicious !
Really glad to find this place after going to few Thai restaurants here in Minneapolis that were so-so and kind of overpriced. This is pretty authentic stuff, and glad to find things I don't see in other Thai restaurants like the hamok and the sour sausage, which were great. Did take out and not eat in, but the service was friendly and quick. The area is a bit run down and the parking situation was funky, but I'll definitely go back for the food.
A fantastic place to eat and relax.
This place has awesome food. Probably the best Thai food I’ve ever had. You should go here. It’s awesome.
I had the beef laab it was very sour i couldn’t eat it.
On’s blows all the other Thai I’ve had in the Twin Cities out of the water; I don’t even bother ordering anywhere else now. The khao soi is EXACTLY as it should be and I crave it like nobody’s business because of the interplay of sweet, sour, spicy, salty, and all the different textures. The crispy duck is so good I can’t get enough. Portion size is very generous and value is very fair considering both portion and the cooking expertise you’re paying for—true masters at work here. They also package food for take-away exceedingly well—soups are still hot even after a half-hour drive and nothing ever spills. Everything is SO well done at On’s!
Unfortunately, this time someone in the kitchen dropped the ball.
The food was so bad I didn’t finish the meal.
Later on I was dealing with stomach ache.
Their score might be way off. Never again coming back.
I ordered #92( not sure what the name of this dish) fried fish pieces laid on a salad of mango and peppers! It's so amazing
I came for the Khao Soi and I was not disappointed! Worth the trip!
This place ranks among the best Thai food I have had in the U.S. The chef commands a mix of spicy, sweet, umami, and acidic flavors in a way that only the best
chefs can.
-To drink, I got the Thai iced green tea. The slightly more astringent green tea paired really well in this drink, which was not overly sweet as Thai iced teas can be.
-We got the #33 shrimp salad, which was perfectly limey.
-#43, the Yen Tha foe, was truly one of the best soups I've ever eaten. The depth of flavor in the broth, the silky-gushy noodles, and the marvelous textures combined for something I'd like to eat for my last meal.
-Pad eggplant was silky and umami-laden.
Amazing Thai food!
This used to be our favorite Thai place, but when we visited a few days ago and went to order Tom Yum soup, the base price is $13.99...BUT...the server said you can't actually get it at that price... it's an extra $2!!
BAIT and SWITCH!
Now the pricing is a damn math exercise...the customer must now pick ala carte the protein to add...and you can't get the soup as it used to be as a base--3 or so meats in the original!
So, no way will we be paying $25 for a bowl of soup after tax and tip!
We happily went to iPho by Saigon down the street and ordered a huge bowl of generously portioned beef Pho for $11.99 each!!! Split a Bon Mi sandwich and after tax and 20% tip our meal was $38!!
I can't imagine On's will stay in business with the new price gouging!!??
The food was amazing. I got the 101 on the menu. I don’t remember what it was called but it was delicious. I also got a Thai coffee that made my tum pretty hap.
I had my food delivered via Uber eats. I ordered pineapple fried rice and stuffed chicken wings. Everything tasted like it was not cooked fresh and with lack of care. The rice was flavorless and pineapple chunks had gone bad. On top of that there was pieces cilantro that was wilted and bitter. 10/10 don’t recommend this place for delivery at least.
Food was excellent
Really fantastic food!!
Very disappointing. I did a take out for spring rolls and when I opened it, there was no sauce to go with the spring rolls- I didn’t mind but then when I saw the spring roll itself, I was disappointed of how it was put together. Looks like it’s full of noodles but inside it’s full of lettuce. Not well put together. For this to be an authentic Thai and Asian restaurant, I’m disappointed. I’ve been to other places where their spring rolls are well put together and cost just as much. $7.50 for two spring rolls like this was not worth it. I won’t be returning or recommending this place to anyone.
They said they were short staffed, but our server absolutely killed it. Fast, friendly, intuitive service. He knew a lot about the menu and asked us questions!
Food is always amazing. You can customize your spice level, so it’s accessible for everyone! Many choices on the menu and some cool drinks available.
100/10!
From hero to zero. Small portion. The waitor seemed drunk/intoxicated as well.
Excellent. We got pad see ew, Tom yum and red + green curry. Spice level 4 and 5.
Favorite Thai place in the Twin Cities. Very nice staff & delicious pad see-ew
Waste of time on terrible food made with no care.
I love this restaurant. Easily my favorite Thai food in the Cities right now. I love the Pad Thai and their spicy noodles. Their Nam Khao (crispy rice salad) is also excellent.
Never been disappointed when I've eaten here. Highly recommend if you're looking for some great Thai food.
Kinda dark and dim but the food was great. Good spice level and the staff was nice . Next time I have it I definitely will take TO GO!
I’ve had On’s takeout multiple times. First time dining in. Food & service were both great!
Great Thai food, excellent service and convenient parking.
Love it here! Great food, always consistent, decent prices, friendly staff.
Obe of my favorite places! The best food!!
Firstly, do not get the veggie eggrolls there is no vegtables inside. They only put noodles inside them to make more money. Waste of 7 dollars. They could add some carrots, celery, some green onion, or even a shred of cabbage! But there was only glass noodles unfortunatly.
Also, beware that there is an extra charge for the beef. The beef is just boiled thin sliced chuck or flank. No flavor or carmelization. Their pad thai is just okay. It is far, far too sweet. Beware diabetics! Also, the portions are crazzzy small. Probably about 1 handful of noodles only, thank god I had the noodles from my eggrolls.
Not really worth 30 dollars for some noodle only eggrolls and mediocre pad thai. I have had better and cheaper thai food from a grocery store to be perfectly honest with you all. I get they are trying to make money and all, but they are seriously cutting the dumbest corners at the expense of the quality of food.
I would reccomend adding vegtables to the eggrolls instead of only noodles. Also, I reccomend saute the beef for pad thai to develop good flavor. I would be so much more disappointed if I didnt have some leftover chicken at home.
Nice quiet place where no one speaks at top volume, nor is music blasted. All of our dishes (curry, stir fry, and fish cakes), however, were quite salty. Service is good, a bit on the slow side.
On of my favorite Thai Restaurant in Twin cities. Reasonable price with beyond value food. Stuffed Wings and Crab fried rice are my favorites.
Great Thai food. Midwest mild, but absolutely delicious.
I got the chicken egg rolls and mango chicken. The egg rolls smelled and tasted like a barn. It was disappointing but maybe just a bad batch? The chicken was ok but pretty dry and did not have a ton of sauce. The mango was not ripe. Hoping today just was an off day
We ordered a streamed whole fish today. The menu said $30, but we were charged $40. We asked a manager about the price difference. They YELLED at us from the start and said that the price has changed for a long time. They clearly CHEATED. At the end, they refused to adjust the price and said that if you don't like the service here just do not come back. So, we gladly asked them to return the tip. They never adjusted the price. They continued to bad-mouth about us in the kitchen, knowing that we would understand all (Thai) they are saying. Very very RUDE!
We are super disappointed since the food here is delicious (a bit too sweet) for Thai standards. Shame on the manager! (The waitress is very nice tho.)
overall good food! ordered massamun curry, pad see ew, and khao ka mu for 3 people.
massamun and khao ka mu were very tasty but pad see ew was average. the noodles were all clumped together and when u seperate them, they r white w no sauce on them.
In general, flavors r on the sweeter side.
free parking in the back!
I like the food, worth the price, though service and atmosphere are just so so
Nam tok (beef) and Lao papaya were great. Definitely will go back to try more dishes.
Wow. The customer service of this place is atrocious. I ordered for delivery and included instructions for an ALLERGY. No where was my allergy honored. I called the restaurant. Nothing but lip from the people on the phone. They even HUNG UP ON ME. I work in the service industry. Management actually, and I have NEVER treated a customer like this in my life of 17 years in management. If someone says I included a note and it didn't get transferred through the app to the restaurant, I would say at least "I'm sorry". Instead they just YELLED at my partner who went to correct the order. Absolutely atrocious. How are you going to yell at a paying customer???? Get your staff together. I will be calling to speak to the owner.
Favorite Thai restaurant. Always good. Fresh, made to order, awesome.
Great food. Great service. Waiter was attentive to our needs, even though the place was hopping on a Saturday night.
Fantastic eat in or take out Thai food. Authentic in every way. Made to order per your spiciness preference. Pad Thai and spring rolls are amazing and spot on.
The best authentic Thai food in the twin city. Don’t expect fancy, but you will be treated with home cooking in an extensive menu. They can dial up the spice level to your liking. We’ve gone Three times in a week. It’s that good.
Really really great food! Started working a few blocks away... Plan to be a regular!
The dirty table and room temp water made it kinda seem like we just got someone's spot that had just left. Other than that the food tasted good and arrived fairly quickly.
They offer an incredible vegan selection on the menu, since many options are meatless or have plant proteins, such as tofu and mock duck. It's amazing to have this many vegan choices for curries and noodle dishes. Every meat eater I've brought has not been disappointed once. I fell in love with this restaurant while in town 10 years ago, and it has never let me down. It's a no-nonsense and humble dining room that is still welcoming any time I've brought family, and we always leave with leftovers. Since I've moved out of state, I will drive across town when I am anywhere visiting the Metro area because no Thai restaurants hold a candle to On's Kitchen.
Totally delicious. Easy to order vegan options!
I can't say much more about this place other than, go! Delicious food, great portions and prices. My top three go to restaurants for takeout, but dine in is nice too.
There isn’t a better Thai place in the cities! And the family is the sweetest. One of our favorites!
Big fan of Ons! There was a time when I would go to Ons once a week. I love their food, I’ve tried their curries, rice dishes, noodles and other items - never disappointed!!! My mom loves the spice levels offered at this location!
Hole in the wall if there ever was one. Yes the interior needs some TLC but the food more than makes up for any flaws.
On’s was rough last night, after a 5 year break from the place. Pad Krapow was drowning in an inch of standing sauce, as was the Pad Pak, both of which are lightly coated in Thailand. Veggie Spring Rolls were a joke—literally lettuce and vermicelli loosely wrapped, no herbs or other veggies. I can’t speak to the Jok Gai (rice porridge with chicken), but it is an embarrassing $15.99. Having just returned again from the Kingdom, An’s was disappointing. If you love Thailand and want help remembering the great food, don’t go to An’s. BKK Deli or Thai Cafe instead, or even Pad Thai on Grand Ave, because at least their Jok Gai is very authentic and under $7.
The pad see ew is incredible!!!
I thought the food was good over all but I was disappointed because I definitely did not get what I paid for.
I ordered pad thai with shrimp for an extra $4.. I only counted 4 shrimp. A dollar per shrimp is ridiculous.
I got an order of mango sticky rice for $9 and it was not fresh at all. The portion was also tiny.
On's Kitchen got rave reviews but I think they need to adjust their prices or portions.
Automatic 20% tip applied for a take out order for 2 people 👎
“This Thai restaurant is an absolute gem in the metro area. It is evident that it is family-owned and their passion for Thai cuisine shines through in every dish. The menu offers a delightful selection of Thai appetizers, entrees, and salads that are bursting with incredible flavors. The use of fresh herbs and abundant vegetables truly enhances the authenticity of the dishes. They offer different spice levels from 1-10.
I’m always impressed by the variety of options available, especially when it comes to accommodating different dietary preferences.
They have thoughtfully included protein choices to cater to everyone, whether they follow a gluten-free, plant-based, vegetarian, or pescatarian diet. It's fantastic to find a place where large groups of friends can gather and each find something delicious to suit their specific needs.
The soups and curries at this restaurant are a true delight. The depth of flavors and the quality of ingredients used are simply outstanding. Additionally, their beverage selection is worth mentioning. They offer a diverse range of beers, wines, and cocktails, making it a great spot for date night or a special occasion.
On's Thai restaurant has become my go-to place for satisfying my Thai food cravings. I highly commend them for consistently delivering exceptional dishes and maintaining their high standards. Keep up the fantastic work, On's! You have truly created something remarkable in the realm of Thai cuisine."
Great food
Highly suggest Pad Thai and Thai Green Curry! Both are amazingly good.
Had a bit of a disappointing experience here…I ordered the red curry and it tasted really strange to me; it tasted strongly like milk.
Upon asking the server, I found out that their main ingredient for their curries is cows milk, which isn’t listed on their menu and didn’t taste anything like any Thai curry I’ve had. It was pretty bad.
Being lactose intolerant, knowing their curries are inauthentic would have helped me in ordering- I asked if they were able to remake it with just coconut milk and they said they could, but they would charge me for a whole new dish, per the managers rules, so unfortunately ended the night with no dinner and having to pay for something I couldn’t eat.
I’ve been to Thailand a few times and have never heard, or tasted, a Thai curry made with cows milk- I understand it’s cheaper, but this was a let down and was handled poorly.
Editing my review from a few years ago. This place has gone way down hill. Service was slow (even though there were 3 servers in a half empty restaurant) and the food was just okay. The beef was tough and very low quality. Overall my rating is a 2 now instead of 4.
Nice, hole-in-the-wall, authentic Thai restaurant! Run down interior but must-visit location to experience for yourselves. Visited on a Tuesday afternoon 12/06/2022.
Parking is located in the back. Entry is on the side of the building and is narrow when you walk inside. The decor is nice, but holes in the ceiling. The Staff is very attentive which is wonderful.
1. Vegetable Pad See Ew: Nicely charred noodles with broccoli, carrots, onions, scrambled eggs, and cilantro. Tossed in chili oil and so on point! Perfectly sweet and salty.
2. Mock tofu Tom Yum Soup: Very tangy, a bit too tangy but perfectly cooked with mushrooms and onions. Lemongrass and galangal flavors are prominent. Not a fan because it's just sour.
3. Papaya salad, medium, Lao style: Super tangy, and the pepper spice hits at the end. I prefer a combo of sweet, salty, and tangy. This is 9/10 sour. Not a fan because it's just sour.
4. Beef Noodle Soup: Love the spice aromatics. It is tasteful with no need for any sauces, which is how noodle soups should be, but it is on the very sweet side. Very generous with the meat ingredients and noodles. Not a favorite, too sweet.
5. Wonton Egg Noodle Soup: Very aromatic, and the egg noodle flavor was prominent while egg noodles remained bouncy, which is how they should be. Again, it is generous with ingredients and noodles but too sweet.
**Perfectly portioned herbs on the side for the noodle soups
**Every dish was either sour or sweet. Didn't have balance. Must visit for your own experience because the staff is great but an acquired flavor. Remember,
Not fancy, kind of run down, the most awesome Thai food I've ever had. I had another person tell me about this place and had to try it with my daughter. Spicy means spicy, but the dishes also have flavor.
Our party of 3 was pleasantly surprised at how great this restaurant was and we really loved the food. I had the sweet and sour chicken and it was so good! I ordered a heat level of 5 (a scale of 1 - 10) and it was spicy!! The waitress warned us that Thai spicy is unique! We also ordered the green curry and mango salads and everyone enjoyed their choices. There was a lot left over just because the portion sizes were really large. The atmosphere of the restaurant is older, kind of worn out and comfy - really perfect.
Always goos food. Service is hit or miss but generally good. Server was awesome today. Kind and refilled waters. Best authentic thai food in the cities. Their pad prik fish, #90 i 5hink, is always superb. Pad see ew is good. Braised ribs were alright, a little too tangy in the soup for me. Most dishes are good overall. Definitely try it if your in the area.
Very good curries and house specialties....they are also a very friendly neighborhood place for walk in. Casual dining for a date, work luncheon, or just for some great food.
