Casual room with white tablecloths & soft lighting serving traditional Thai food, beer & wine.
My husband picked up our meal and brought it home- it was our order on the receipt- but had someone else’s name- will know better to watch for that next time - had to drive all the way back cause it wasn’t our order in the bag- even thou it was our receipt- had to wait for our right order. The people who’s food I had were waiting for theirs- finally got home with food - the chicken in the sweet and sour chicken was all nothing but fried crusty breading- think we found a few touches of chicken in the whole thing- what a disappointment after all that driving- was definitely NOT worth the $$ won’t be back
The staff and restaurant were very inviting. The Thai iced tea was good. The cream cheese rollups were different and were not sweet, but the sauce was. It took a while for our food to come out, but they were also very busy. My daughters pad Thai was good. My dish was not. The brown sauce was thick, almost like pudding. The noodles were thin, wide, and slimy. I had shrimp added to it, and I just couldn't eat really any of it. It was just not a combination of flavors or textures that agreed with me.
Love the Thai food at this restaurant. Have visited multiple times and have never been disappointed. The service is always excellent and prices are good. Beware that if you order the food spicy, it will be good and hot. My lips were burning a good 30 minutes after finishing, which is the way Thai food should be prepared and the way I like it. They do offer dishes that are not spicy as well.
Restaurant is very clean and has nice booths.
The pad thai was unusually sweet, and the noodles were a bit too al dente. However, the service was very accommodating, fast, and friendly.

Service was great. It was freezing inside. Absolutely crazy cold inside. Food was fine, skip the calamari.
Food is always great and consistent. Great flavors and portions are large. King and I Thai is our families Sunday night dinner spot!

Very good curry.
Dine in experience much better than take out
Would give dine in 4 stars
Take out review one star
Sweet and sour chicken- mostly breading, tablespoon of veggies, no rice and two cups of sauce.
Pad Thai one big clump of completely bland noodles.
Requested soy sauce and received none.
No handicapped parking.
Couldn't have friend pick up food charged to my card.
Fantastic food and service. One of our favorite places with A+ THAI FOOD!
Great food fresh & hot
Love this place. Order from here at least twice a month! The # 34 is phenomenal.
Been forever since I last been here. Food was amazing a little spicy but that’s okay that’s just me. Service was great. Lady kept checking on how we were doing !
Pad Thai was amazing
The food is usually good here. The place is quite accessible but closes very early, 8p.
I love that they can make a lot of their menu gluten-free . The spice has been a bit calmer when I've ordered more hot the last couple times. Other than that, the food is great!
I come here often during lunch and the service is quick and food is always delicious. Today I overheard another guest complaining that something they ordered nearly a month ago was burnt and too spicy, demanding a refund. The manager was very kind and polite despite the customer being unreasonable and rude. Bottom line, the staff and food are great. Don't let the scam artist "frequently customer" get you down!
One of the best Thai restaurants in the Twin Cities.
Great tasty
I very much enjoyed my Phad Thai, and I liked their scale to explain the heat of their food. I ordered medium, which would have been super hot back home. I really enjoyed it.
They change the recipes from the old location. It is now below average.
The old recipes were superior.

Been going for a few years now. Consistent quality across the board. The variety and the amount of food you get is great! I do recommend getting a second small container of white rice if you get any of the curry because you will want more!
Really disappointing,. No information on their website, when we reach for early dinner they tell us there r closing the kitchen at 6:30pm. This has happened couple of time now. For sure don’t want to go and try again their.
Lighting was a little weird where it was hard to see my dining partner. But the food was delicious. Definitely recommend the chicken pad Thai. Going to try it spicy next time
What has happened here? The food used to be good. A recent visit was a huge disappointment. My wife’s food was covered in an overly sweet peanut sauce. The beef and broccoli, zucchini and cauliflower were all unseasoned except for the peanut syrup. Her food arrived at our table cold. I ordered the Gaeng Puk which is supposed to be a coconut milk based red curry. It was completely different than I have ever ordered it and had an odd flavor. We have eaten here for years but will not be returning anytime soon.
Don't come here if you actually know what thai food tastes like, and don't mind cheap overly sweetened food because they don't do edible food here. We barely touched 2 dishes (tons of sweetness) but only complained about how overly sugary one dish was. The "cook" or owner stated the dish tastes "the way it should taste and the way it always was". The waitress never refilled water until we asked. The waitress stated she had no idea how the dish should taste and couldn't tell us what Southeast asian food should taste like(even though she works in a thai restaurant). This place does not care about authentic taste or opinions, and you're made to feel that way clearly in our interaction today. Poor excuse of a place. We were the only ones eating in with 2 people who came through takeout ordering generic items like fried rice. This is a sign to stay away. No wonder they don't care to be accurate about thai food. Don't go if you actually know what authentic and edible thai food is. Save yourself some disappointment. They ruined my afternoon and didn't care, leaving me hungry.
Food was bad period, do not come here, they have no idea how to cook.
My noodles were deadly overcooked, and swimming in oil.
Food and service are excellent! I love SPICY food and the constant Minnesota nuisance I have with restaurants saying something is “spicy” and it isn’t at all. They come through with the spice and most definitely flavor :) I’ve never had a meal I didn't love from here. Thank you for being a great place <3

First time there and the food was excellent!
Limited menu but what they do serve is amazing.
Great Thai food in Hastings! The pineapple fried rice is incredible. I recommend you visit!
My nephew said that the food was very good, so we decided to give it a try. We order several dishes. Our egg rolls was still pink in the middle, I called the waiter over to let him know that our egg rolls is uncooked. The waiter said that it is cooked, the pink inside the egg rolls is due to the shrimp marinade that they use(part if their ingredients). I cooked with shrimp before and I never have that happen. So we didn't eat the rest if the egg rolls because we do not want to get sick. Overall the food is 4/10. We will not be returning.
Unfortunately they had a water main break, so we couldn't dine in the restaurant. ☹️ BUT....they still offered take out! It was absolutely AMAZING as usual! Thanks King and I Thai! 👍 Your food hit the spot!😋
It was so busy, because restaurants with good food, are busy. Our server was SO sweet. The food was delicious. We can't believe we didn't try it sooner.
Great food, spring rolls were to die for.
I'm going to king and I for 20 years always wonderful.
Tried their pad thai and it was excellent!
Our service with Michelle was great, and the food was delicious and abundant. First time there, and definitely not the last.
I especially love the spring rolls, chicken satay and cucumber salad.
Spicy green curry was very good.
My husband and I go here at least twice a month. We always get the same thing. Chicken satay and creamy tom yum soup for an appetizer. This is the best soup ever. For entrees I get the roasted pepper sauce with beef. They put cashews in it. It has just the right amount of spice. My husband gets the stir fried seafood. We always have enough left overs for a couple more lunches. The staff are so friendly too.
Definitely some of the best food I've had in awhile.
I came here for the first time a few days ago. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the waitress was kind and attentive, and the food was delicious. It's been awhile since I found a red curry dish this good. Portion size is large, which is great, because we had leftovers. I would definitely go back!
Food was horrible egg rolls ,cream cheese wontons and chicken wings were hard and tasted old. fried rice was bland and greasy.Tom yum soup was flavorless just spicy almost like spicy water and it was expensive 1 out 5 starts do not recommend.
They are open for lunch! A coworker and I picked up a takeout order and the food was so yummy! The #38 is my go to whenever I come here but I've never had anything bad either! If you like Thai food, this place is great!
If it's dine in or take-out, it's always fantastic! The flavors are so delicious! We got the 38 and 54 with beef and it honestly was the best food we've had at a restaurant in a long time. The egg rolls and spring rolls are always a great starter. We want to try different dishes but we love those so much because they never disappoint. Friendly service. Cleaning and never disappoints. A true gem. Thanks for wonderful food!
Roasted Red Pepper with chicken, spice level 3 is fantastic. Curry fried rice is wonderful. Large portion size for leftovers!
Pad Thai was amazing and server was fabulous!
My husband got a seafood dish that he was assured would be mild for $25 that was inedibly, chokingly spicy by any standards. They refused to take the meal off the bill.
Stopped in at 7 and they wouldn’t serve us. Website says they stop dine-in 30 minutes before close, which was 8. Apparently it’s earlier than that.
Best Thai around. Great Shrimp Pad Thai
Wonderful service, and the best Chicken Pad Thai ever.
Found this little gem when we closed on our new home and it happened to be just 10 min away. We always get the drunken noodle and Garlic thai chili stir fry as mild as it can be made (but it’s spicy, so watch out), and get the calamari and chicken satay for apps. Taste is pretty consistent for these four dishes, and we end up having about two meals each person from the portion sizes. We haven’t tried anything else on the menu yet though.
Small update: the calamari was cut too thin this time and fried to a thin crisp like a chip or fried onions. They did fix it for us, but it was still quite crisp but just slightly better than before. When it’s done right, it is delicious though but can’t vouch for it being consistent anymore.
Our order was wrong and very disappointed
Lovely. Absolutely wonderful food!
I always get the Roasted hot pepper sauce with calamari it’s super yummy every time! Don’t miss out on the Spicy holy basil fried rice to go with it!
Generous portion and great flavors.
4 peppers taste like like 4 peppers.
Delicious and the service was attentive.
Very nice Thai place. Food was excellent. Will be back. Good choices for spicy or mild food depending on your tastes.
Delicious food and friendly staff. Great, clearly marked vegan options.
First time trying another Thai restaurant in a continued search to find edible Thai in the east metro, and I’m sad to say that that’s each continues.
Ordered chicken pad Thai as the staple to compare. Served with lime (not lemon thank the gods) which was a good sign. I noticed burnt noodles in my dish, and I took the first bite. They tasted like they weren’t soaked in prep and that they ran short. It was borderline inedible to the point where I had to use my molars to crush the noodle into parts.
Another note is that the sauce was comprised of two notes, sugar and chili flake. It was overpoweringly sweet. The only break of acidity came from the previously mentioned lime.
The service was good, but the food is inedible. I’ll never return.
Stir fry with garlic sauce was super bland, green curry really watered down this time, didn't get us our spring rolls, but rather sent us home with them ( not so good next day) food took almost an hour to come out (place was only half full)....... Food has been pretty good in the past. We wond be returning.
Great food!
So many great reviews already so not much to say other than this is our #1 favorite for Southeast Asian in the East metro! This is our go-to place to eat before heading to a movie over at Inver Grove AMC that's just a few minutes away. As an added bonus and unlike a lot of restaurants King and I offers full size meals for takeout, they don't skimp on serving size for takeout!
Had a good experience with the service and the food was delicious.
Excellent lunch and service! Both of our entrees were superb, and the cream cheese appetizer was the best I’ve ever had. 👍👍👍👍👍
King and I Thai is some of the best Thai Food in the Twin Cities and absolutely worth a stop. My personal suggestion is the Curry Puffs, Yellow Chicken curry and Larb along with some Mango Pudding, But no matter what you order here, You can't go wrong.
Excellent food
Love the creamy thai tom yum
Great pad thai. Excellent apps. Wonderful service.
Great Thai takeout. Ordered 2 items for 2 people and it was plenty for 2 full meals. Very tasty!
Excellent food
Fantastic Thai food. They can make it as spicy as you want...or not. Great place.
The prices are outrageous, absolutely not worth it
Great friendly service... Pad Thai wasn't my cup of tea... Very sweet and had more of a brown sauce than I was used to and reminded me more of a lo mein dish other than the noodles. Only thing we've tried so far so don't want to be too hard on them.
As always I have a better recommendation for the similar dish.
Thai pepper on Robert street, try vegetable basil fried rice if you're looking for something similar, it will run you $10 instead of $15 here and was a superior dish.
Will be back to give another go!
If you're into American style Asian food and like all the sweet brown sauces you'll probably love this place.
The vegetables are fresh, the flavors are excellent but I think the chicken was cooked days ago
We went to King and I yesterday -- the food was absolutely delicious. We chose the restaurant because we were nostalgic about the days long ago when we'd go to the Minneapolis location for food and drink. From my understanding, those owners started this restaurant, and sold at some point.
Well...the food is just as good as ever! They were only open for take out, and the green curry, pad thai and pad seyu were happily consumed by everyone at home. We love noodles.
Will definitely order from them again, but I'm actually more excited about eating in the restaurant whenever things open up again. From my brief moments inside (paying for my order), they have so much art!!!
Great tasting food, served at a good portion ( usually takes me 2 days to finish one serving of fried rice) all at a good price.
Absolutely fantastic. On a recommendation I drove 18 miles for take out and it was more than worth it. Amazing!
Food is amazing. Even for carry out.
Always good! I deeply miss the years-long location on the edge of downtown Minneapolis… But nice to know that some long-time favorites continue in the exact same traditional flavors.
Massive spring rolls, I ordered 2 and was surprised when I opened it up.. pad Thai was great...
Can't get enough of their food. The staff are very very friendly. I highly recommend to visit and try their food.
I travel from Mpls frequently to come here! I miss the Mpls location because it was convenient and close, but it’s worth the drive. Pad Thai is top notch and the mango sticky rice is fantastic. I haven’t been disappointed in any of the dishes I’ve had.
Been eating here since they moved from downtown. Never again though. Food and service has changed since the new owners took over.
Great and fresh Thai food. Almost anything can be made gluten free by request.
Best pad Thai I've had in a while. No bar though. Dont be fooled by the pix
Update. Who doesn't do curbside pickup these days? Make you come inside. No thanks. I'll find another place
No other place has #34 with chicken! So amazing. Their pad Thai and Tom Kha are fantastic.
Ample portions and great wait staff
The food is good. When they say regular spice, they mean extra spicy. Lol
I love this place, they have the best Thai food in town and great services.
Brilliantly spiced the way Thai food should be.
So disappointing. Have been coming here for years and order the same darn thing each time. Ordered it again tonight and the spice came out so hot that it couldn’t be eaten (ordered mild, as usual). Not a big deal as we ordered several other things. When the server returned, we explained it wasn’t the correct spice and inedible. No offer was made to remake, so we assumed she would take it off the bill. But she didn’t. When we inquired, we were told that the dish was made and needed to be paid for.
Very sad example of customer service. And such an unfortunate way to lose repeat customers.
I was going to this place ever since they opened it. Food and service used to be very good but today it was entirely different experience. Our office team went for lunch today and most of us asked for spice level 4 as we knew from the past that #4 was bearable but today every ones item was ridiculously, nonsensically, enjoyably, awfully hot. None of us could enjoy it. The quality also gone down a lot. I've order Basil Fried Rice with Chicken, there was a very less chicken, too oily & no flavor whatsoever.
On top of this, they have automatically added a whopping 20% of gratuity. This is insanely ridiculous for business lunches. We have been there in big groups in the past and they never had it. It seems they have become more greedier and don't bother about repeated customers. A big disappointment and will never ever go there.
There is nothing to enjoy in this place anymore. Stay away.
I've been checking out Spring Rolls at different Thai restaurants lately and did not care for the citrus sauce served with theirs.
Not the yammiest food.
Always great, great service!!!
Great service and good pad Thai
Very good! I had the vegetable pad thai spicy level. Loved it but would have liked more veggies. Service was great!
My wife and I drove out to this restaurant from our home in Loring Park. It was mostly out of nostalgia for the original King and I on LaSalle.
It’s just over a 20-minute drive to Mendota Heights.
This restaurant IS good. Not as fun as the original and probably not good enough for a 20-minute drive. They just have beer and wine. No big bar area with generous cocktails like the original.
I had Pad Thai and my wife had the Tom Kha Soup with shrimp.
The Pad Thai was good. They use a 1-4 spiciness scale and I had it at 2. Still pretty spicy and I enjoyed it. My wife’s soup was also at a 2. The size and quality of shrimp was impressive. We split an order of egg rolls.
The egg rolls were 4 rather small yet tasty pieces. The thing I noticed was how physically hot they were. Even when I got to my second piece. I don’t know the science of it, but I wonder if they maintained their heat so well because they were tightly wrapped.
The workers were all very busy on the Saturday night we went in. There were a few people waiting for takeout orders but not all that many customers seated in the dining area. The workers were all very busy, but my guess is that it was driven by their takeout demand.
It took 3-5 minutes for someone to acknowledge us when we came in waiting for a table. Once we were seated, the frequency of waiter visits was less than what I’d expect.
As I said at the beginning of this review, I think the restaurant is good, but I don’t know that it’s a “destination” spot. Definitely better than most strip mall offerings and certainly worth it if you’re in the area.
Just had the worst experience. I called at 530 to place an order, was told 20 minutes and shower up at 550. It is now 618 and people have come and gone and I'm still without my food that I paid for when I arrived. The service is terrible, no updates and the pickup line just keeps getting longer and longer. I'm very irritated. I order two items , one of which is deep fried and the other should not take an hour to make especially when it is one of their staples. Seriously thinking about not visiting again even though it's so close to my house. They need to get their stuff together and properly train their staff. I got out of there at 625. Got home and my food is cold. The cream cheese rolls are soggy like they had been sitting in a box for an hour. I also had to heat my pad thai up. Very dissapointing.
They have a few good Vegan options. They are also knowledgeable about the things Vegans avoid. Good service and tasty food. Spicy here means spicy. Try the Thai hot spicy level at your own risk.
Huge portions, tasty foods. Not my favorite Thai place but still very good!
The food was very good! We tried as much as we could - spring rolls, soup, noodles, fried rice, and curry - and it was all delicious
Overpriced food and unfriendly staff.
Just tried this place for the first time.
This place just became my favorite Thai place in St Paul / Mendota Heights area.
Must Try! Especially the garlic and Thai chilli sauce and also the green curry.
Perfect food prefect service
Nice staff and delicious food. We were very pleased.
I love thai food and this place was VERY good.
Menu #34 rules
Delicious Thai food. I met a former coworker for lunch, and each of us ordered one of the lunch specials. The food was delicious, service was great, and prices are reasonable.
Food tastes amazing!
5 stars
Their curry fried rice is to die for. My favorite food in the world tbh. I love this place
DELICIOUS!
Flavorful authentic Thai food. Place is clean and staffs are friendly.
Food and service were excellent...
We had take out, delicious, large portions, a bit on the pricey side. Staff was friendly and prompt.when they say Thai hot they mean it lol.
One of the best Thai food places in the states
Decent service and delicious meal. Busy, casual place and pleasant staff.
One of my favorite Thai food places in the south metro. They have all the classics you would expect at a Thai place and I have never had a bad meal there. The atmosphere, however, does not strike me as a Thai place. Also, the menu items are very pricey. You do get a lot of food, but I feel they would be smart to offer smaller options or even half portions. All in all a great place to eat.
Good food and friendly staff, doesn't take much time to get your order
