Order some to go, Chicken kaopia, cucumber salad, and pork belly larb. Everything was good but the pork belly larb was super chewy, and who ever (young girl) chopped it, was horrible. Not bite size and it was almost intimidating to eat. I had to re cut everything and add my own seasoning ......again, super chewy and rubbery.
Kids running. around everywhere too....
Was told new ownership again...... food is not as good anymore. Previous owner had the most crispy pork belly!!!
Goodbye
Went to eat here with a few and this will be the last time! I ordered the sweet pork and I got 3 pork feet and two eggs. No meat! If that wasn't bad enough... the pig feet had so much hair left on it still. My buddy ordered the pork belly and that was also disgusting. There was hair on every piece of pork belly!! No glavor at all. The stuffed chi ken wimg was bland and had zero flavor... Just look at the pictures. They speak for themselves.. do better my Hmong brothers and sisters... This is not the way to serve hmong food.

First day back to Lucky Pearl Cafe under new ownership. I got the Laab Xieng Khuang and a side of small sticky rice. Cashier was super nice. Cashier asked if I wanted spicy and bitter or spicy and sour. I requested spicy and sour. I probably should have gotten less spicy because this was spicy! Just look at the pic for reference of how much peppers were added. I loved the balance of flavors. There was plenty of meat, and the portion size for the price was really good. I also like the portion of tripe and veggies to meat ratio. It felt very well balanced. I really like how much cucumbers and lettuce they included. There was plenty more laab under all that lettuce too. The sticky rice was perfect! It wasn't too soft or too hard.
Hmong sausage- Eh idk why but it didnβt hit the spot. The pepper that comes with it is nasty too. It tastes kinda bitter. I wish it had more fish sauce or something.
Steam rolls- Thick & fluffy just how I like it. It could use a little more meat tho. I wish it same with pepper sauce instead of peanut sauce (which tastes like straight up peanut butter and water mixed).
Raw beef larb- There was no flavor at all. No spice, no sourness, no bitterness. So disappointing.
Tri color- 5/5 stars! It was good and sweetness was perfect to my liking.
Crispy pork belly!

Very friendly and amazing food in my opinion, overall was fantastic!
Very fast and good service. Great food and even better prices. The bubble tea is so good.
Disgusting and over priced. Staff seemed unhappy and very short to talk to. Won't be returning.
Their raw laarb was so good
I regularly order at Lucky Pearl Cafe for takeout. Today, I decided to dine in. I ordered p1 beef pho regular, spring rolls, and mango bubble tea π§ Everything was delicious as usual. The staff were welcoming and kind.

Place is actually good. Service is a little slow, but cant complain when they only have 1 cook. Pork Belly is prob one of the best ive ever had. crispy, easy to bite into. if i could, i would eat here maybe twice a week.
The food was really good! Canβt wait to come back!
This place is bomb. The food π₯π₯π₯ and prices are very affordable and the portions are π. Lucky its not that far away. Their Khao Peak is my favorite.
No words can explain how good the food here was. Taste was on point. The papaya was good, I don't remember the last time I've tasted good papaya. Even the pepper was good. You don't ever get any good pepper from hmong restaurants, it's always to plain and to watery, but this place here won't disappoint you with the good food and pepper.
My 1st visit was a Friday night 5pm. I didn't know you order at the register and then sit down, so instead I stood at the door for 5-10 min with no greeting. I figured it out after people came in after me, and ordered at the front. I would've sat down and waited but all the tables were dirty, full if plates and left over food. It wasn't even busy, and there were workers just walking around. The group that came in after me grabbed the cleanest table, brushed off some rice on the counter and sat down. The gal at the front went straight to preparing the last order without even acknowledging me. Since there were no clean tables and lack of customer service, I left. Maybe it was a bad night, whatever.
2nd visit, gave it another shot. Saturday at lunch time I showed up. Again...half the tables were dirty, no one cleaning it. Let's at least try the food. They had the typical hmong deli options on the menu. I ordered, found a semi clean table in which I grabbed some extra napkins and wiped it off myself. The food arrived in cheap plastic plates you buy at a dollar store when ure throwing a typical hmong party at your house. The food was nothing special. Tastes just like the stuff u get at any deli. But the service was soo bad and the atmosphere, cleanliness and cheap silverware didn't make this a pleasant experience. I barely finished my food, cleaned off my own table and I'm never coming back. Felt bad for the gal up front cause she tried to do her best, while a few workers around her just walked back and forth from the back to the front ignoring dirty tables. There are cleaner tables and better service at the Hmong Market and Hmong Vilage.
Convenient location! The stuffed wings, sticky rice, and pad thai are delicious!!
Tasteless!
Ordered a Thai boat noodle last week, and it tasted nothing like any of the local boat noodles. In fact, it tasted like nothing at all and was extremely oily. Couldn't even pass as a regular pho. Almost funeral pho like, but worse.
Gave them another chance and ordered lunch again. This time, I chose the tricolor and Hmong sausage with sticky rice. You can't really mess that up, right? Wrong! Who boils their Hmong sausages? The dipping pepper was just as bad. The tricolor dish was the worst I've ever had.
Shame on me for trying again. Highly would not recommend!
Food is great but service needs to be worked on. I literally was the first one there, ordered my food to go, then 2 other ppl came behind me and ordered their food to go. I just ordered the food that was readily available, pork belly and spring rolls. The person running things decided to make all the orders at the same time. I understand if we all had the same dishes, but they were all different. He literally cut my pork belly into pieces and brought out the springrolls, but he didnt even bag it up for me or send me on my way. I had to wait for the cook to complete all the ppls dishes, and we all got our to go orders at the same time. Like really? So it doesnt matter if you get their first or 5th, they will prepare all of it as a huge meal.
Update 3/15/24
New owners now... Pros: the food is a lot fresher. I prefer the new stuffed chicken wings. Cons: I thought the wings and egg rolls were slightly bland. Would try again.
Update 4/6/23
Food is inconsistent and a lot of it isnβt fresh. Came around 5 pm and egg rolls were old and cold. They need to replace old food more regularly if they want returning customers. 75 cents for pepper sauce that is pretty much emptied is outrageous.
Pork belly had a nice crisp on its skin and was well seasoned. Egg rolls were tasty too but didnβt care for the peanut sauce. The star was the pepper sauce that came with the porkβvery flavorful and spicy with fresh herbsβjust wish it was filled at least at the halfway mark rather than 1/4 of the cup. Service was very friendly with reasonable prices. Recommend with you like Asian comfort food.
Food was top knotch!! Order steamed rice rolls and pork with boiled eggs! Loved it! Place is very clean too!
Food and drinks were delicious... would definitely come back again.
Slow service although we were the only customer there. Ordered spring rolls, raw laab, boat noodle, and cream cheese wonton. Food wasn't all that tasty. Typical only. Nothing to be wowed about. The ready made food looked dry and old, so I didn't order that. It included egg rolls, chicken wings and pork belly. Cheap plastic plates and utensils. Not the even the sturdy kinds. You have to buy water too. Not worth going back.
So happy to have found this place. The prices are amongst the best I've seen and the food was absolutely delicious.
The food was great! Had pork belly with rice n curry chicken noodle along with cream cheese.
The food here is absolutely delicious! Our entire family enjoyed their food and drinks. Good quality and very affordable.
Tried this place for the first time, and we liked it. Good food, nice variety. We'll be back
Fantastic!!! Everyone reading this, you gotta come by here!! It is absolutely delicious! I don't much about Korean, but I know great food, and here it is!!! Pork belly!!! Sticky rice purple!!! Noodles!!! Zoweeee!!!
Seriously good eats!!!
When we went in, no one greeted us. We were waiting infront of the cashier and she did not greet us until her husband came up to the cashier asking if she had helped us yet. While we sat at our table waiting for the food to come out, we said thank you multiple times but received no response. Food, taste-wise, not bad but sad part was that the kapoon/red curry with noodles was cold and they never came back out to check if evrything was ok. Other customers came and they greeted them and conversated with them; which was sad because they were not responsive with us.
New to the neighborhood and ordered for pick up. I'm pretty spoiled when it comes to good Thai food. I worked at "King and I" and "Sawatee". Egg rolls and pad thai were GREAT!!! We will be ordering regularly β€οΈ
I finally had a chance to order the pork belly larb, after they canceled my last order unexpectedly. YUCK!!
As soon as I opened the styrofoam box the odor was strong. There's NOWAY this pork belly is fresh.
Not to mention the larb has no spice. Even though I ordered it medium/hot.
The porkbelly was chewy and gross. The skin wasn't crispy. It also wasn't served with lettuce or cabbage.
Go to SMOKE SESSION FOOD TRUCK or UNISON IN SAINT PAUL.
I honestly want my $19 back for this half a container of sticky rice and rotten pork belly. Do not waste your money.
Not a traditional sit down restaurant. You order up at the counter and they bring your food to you. We ordered 1 xl boat noodle, combo fried rice was told it came with 1 eggroll or 2 wontons (we chose eggroll but never got it) and 1 stuffed chicken wing. The boat noodle was okay, had a lot of meat and good broth. The noodles were a little soggy. The fried rice was decent. Plenty of meat and shrimp. The chicken wing was dry but they pepper was good. Service was terrible, they never refilled our water, the server was just on his phone. We had to buy drinks just to quench our thirst from the chicken wing. Willing to give this place another chance due to their pork belly laab looks good. If they can improve service this place would be a decent spot to eat.
New management are great and friendly people. Food was tasty and above expectations. Would definitely go again.
Good foods and quick
I love the pork belly laab from here and is probably the only thing I would spend my money on. Unfortunately, their service is garbage. Multiple times, I've had to wait over 30 minutes for them to complete my order. Reminder, it's a deli, so most times, the food is already "ready". They only take one order at a time. Then they work on the order until it's complete before taking another order. Which wastes my time. Today, I ordered only, and gave them plenty of time before I went in to pick up, just to find out my order wasn't even worked on yet. Had to wait another 15 minutes waiting around. Very poorly managed and customer service is awful.
My first time here. The beef pho was pretty tasty. But the pork belly was not hitting. I couldnβt chew the skin at all it was rubbery and tasted stale. I should have read the review before I even came here. I was really excited to try the pork belly. Also 2$ for a can soda. Wow
I've heard so many great things about this restaurant and knew I needed to give it a try. This restaurant is a serve yourself dine in experience. You basically order whatever food they have ready and then some will be made on demand. But you basically grab your own utensils, drinks, Napkins, and etc.
I didn't have the best impression on my first visit to this restaurant. There was nothing that really stood out to me about their food that was a "must try". So if I were to give this review solely based on my first time there, it wouldn't have been so great.
I thought that I'm going to try eating there again. Mainly because they were close to a relatives house and I was hungry. I'm so glad I decided to give them another try. This time around, their food was phenomenal and I finally understood the hype everyone had mentioned about their food. I was even nervous at first when I ordered the papaya salad and there was a younger lady making it. IYKYK. The papaya salad was sooo good. It had the perfect combination of sweet and sour for me. The papaya itself wasn't too soft or too hard. And the pork belly was "chefs kiss". It was cooked to perfection. The fat melted in your mouth and the actual meat wasn't tough or chewy. Now this is a must stop place for me if I'm in the area again!
Food is good and worth the price. I would recommend getting the pork belly laab. If you buy the pork belly alone, it's not that good.. Kapoon is good here as well! Wings are ok and the the angel stuffed wings could use more work on it, it's dry.
Great neighborhood cafe with good food.
Pretty good. I would go again.
Pho was a good βHmongβ style pho. Pork belly was disappointing. Could not chew the pork belly skin. Was worse than eating plastic. Ribs were ok. Raw Laab was mid at best. Papaya was mid. Spice was good. Just didnβt have much flavor. Decent space. Plastic plates and utensils except for pho utensils. Main dishes came out on plastic plates. First and last time for me.
Based on other reviews, maybe I went on a bad day but I wonβt be back. I had a late lunch around 2-3PM.
Update: My husband actually likes going here. We recently got pork belly laab and papaya. It was delicious!! They allow you to choose your pork belly which is nice. The papaya was very good. Pleasantly surprised that I loved the flavor compared to last time I went here back several months ago. Wish the papaya had thicker slices though. Canβt wait to come back again. :)

Original:
Weβve had the deli food a couple times now and the food is fine. Itβs not life changing good but we like that its close by and convenient! I love that they include a lot in their papaya salad. Not just the papaya, sauce and few tomatoes. I think the last time we did take out, it was someone who made the papaya and it was more bitter and had more of a crab taste. It was just different from what weβve had in the past. Ask for very spicy if youβre a fan of spicy food! Has a good kick. However, if you ask for just βspicyβ then it is like mild spicy for some reason. I recommend their kaopoon! The pork belly is not that crispy as we would like but satisfies the craving! The staff members are friendly. :) Im hoping they add more to their menu in the future! Or switch it up here and there.
Small family owned restaurant-- the only Hmong restaurant in the area.
We ordered pho, sweet and sour chicken wings, papaya, sticky rice.
The chicken wings came out cold, although the sauce for the wings is good. Sticky rice had some parts in it that had hardened. The pho broth isn't very flavorful. There isn't alot to the broth that will make it stand out from any other restaurants around the area. You can smell the star anise fragrance.
Star of the show was the papaya salad. That is what I would come back for.
And it is Cafe style. You do also have to purchase your bottled beverage there is not free water.
I do appreciate small businesses and know they work very hard. This is my review of the food we had while there. We hope to give them time for improvements.
I would not recommend this place. Iβve gone to this place multiple of times and it a hit or miss. After my last experience, I just will not be returning. Sticky rice was hard and not edible. They also charged me for pork belly laab but I only got pork belly. Papaya was made by a kid and was not great. Told the person at the counter not to mix the tricolors but she did anyways. I paid about 80 bucks all together and waited 40 minutes for disappointed deli food. Called the phone listed on the receipt about the extra charge and no one called back. Iβll just take my money somewhere else, no thanks.
Great vegan choices. Vegan burrito is delicious!
Slow service, waited over 20+ min for a bowl of pho, excuse was only 1 cook. Didnt prioritize order. A family of 3 came in 10 min after got their bowl of pho at the same time as I was served mine. Noodle came out hard.
We ordered pork belly, sticky rice, glazed wings, hmong sausage, Khaupoob, and papaya salad. it was soo much food and very reasonably priced. Most importantly it was DELICIOUS π!! The pork belly was so crispy and juicy. The papaya salad was freshly made and so refreshing and spicy - like I watched her make it while we were waiting. That glaze on the wings was just *chefs kiss* Honestly, everything we ordered was sooo good! And the customer service was on point too π We will definitely be back to try more.
Foods taste good! The service is slow, Iβd recommend to train all the workers well and focus on prioritizing the orders. They seem to take a lot of orders and mixed up all their orders all over.
Amazing. Cleanest tasting pork belly I've had. Fast service!
Great local place to grab fast hmong food. You won't be disappointed!
this has been on my list for a while and I finally decided to check it out for lunch. I personally have had better pork belly laab & papaya salad but the dishes were still good. I just wished the spice level was consistent in both dishes & that there was a little more flavor in the pork belly. Still a cute little place to check out if you want Hmong food! #LuckyPearlCafe #Crystal #MN #Hmong #foodie
The pork belly laab was crispy and delicious!
I love Lucky Pearl Cafe! Pork belly is crispy and perfectly balanced taste. Stuffed chicken wings are so delicious!! Kapoon is sooooo good!! Broth is on point! Highly recommend!!
Food is not worth the money not good
Been here twice. Not sure if I will be returning. Food wasnβt great. Raw laab had way too much bean sproutsβ¦why? Not a very flavorful dish either. The tam pho was not good like the first time I visited. Plus it didnβt have everything they put in the first time either. There was a weird taste in the tam pho. The pho wasnβt flavorful to my liking. Broth was too salty. Egg rolls and stuffed wings have the exact same stuffing and taste. Took them way too long to make the food. They were not busy both times I was there. For deli style, I felt the food was on the expensive side. Looking at some pictures from when they first opened, they definitely increased their prices by a few dollars and they havenβt been opened that long. Definitely need some work in order to grow as a business.
First and foremost this is ONLY MY EXPERIENCE! I happily ordered the $8 papaya and sat down to wait for my order. However, I observed the young lady that was making my order tasting as she was making it π. Let me tell you guys I ALWAYS prefer to taste my papaya order if need be; NEVER the chef/server tasting. Going on the young lady kept pacing back and forth like she didn't know what to put into the papaya. Soon enough another older lady came out from the back to take over completing my order; because I assume they realized I was there for almost 20+ minutes waiting for papaya. No offense but if someone doesn't know how to do a task, please assign them something they are more familiar with. I did just toss my papaya because I didn't feel good eating it knowing someone was tasting as they were making my papaya.
I am excited about the convenience of being able to get restaurant Hmong food on my side of town, but your portions are a bit small. One time I ordered spring rolls to go, and there was not enough sauce in the little cup for two spring rolls. I thought it was just a mistake. When I stopped by for tricolor, I looked at the packaged spring rolls and yes the cup of sauce was not full enough for two spring rolls. I shared with the young lady my experience. She said she would let the kitchen staff know. Then when my tricolor came out, it was not full either. I didn't say anything because I had already mentioned the spring roll sauce. Today we ordered dinner and when we opened the papaya salad, it was not full either. Seems like this is a pattern.
It's either a hit or miss when trying to place an order with this place for pick up.
Nice cozy place to dine. Great pork ribs and pork belly. Several menus to choose from.
Love the papaya, pho and pork belly laab. Need to go back to try other stuff.
Pho was amazing! Really friendly staff and customer service. Definitely my new spot for pho, and it's right across the street.
The pork belly was AMAZING!!!!!! Cant wait to try other dishes next time I go!
The food was delish, but the customer service really made my day. The waitress was the nicest gal. This will be my go-to takeout spot from now on.
Cafe style. Welcoming staff. VERY reasonable prices bordering on cheap.
Eggrolls- good flavor n crunch, perfect meat-veggie/noodle ratio. Not fan of thick peanut dipping sauce but better than nothing. Also, barely enuff dipping sauce in one container.
Kaopoon- underflavored, def too oily, barely there coconut taste, and very little chicken. Pro- has all traditional veggie toppings n noodle portion just right.
Pho- good amt of meat n noodles but waaay underflavored. Couldnt remedy with condiments no matter how much added.
Papaya salad- mangos are nice addition n good portion but sooooo salty. Even if it wasnt, flavors were just meh.
Worth a revisit in future n really hope they improve.
Lucky Pearl is great a great establishment, the service was friendly and food excellent. The atmosphere is accepting and open. Very clean and friendly place. The staff was wonderful, I believe the young lady that helped Kristine and myself was not of this world an angel from God. I recommend this restaurant for its fresh food and excellent service. God bless you Lucky Pearl π β€οΈ
A mom and pop deli with delicious Hmong food.
Small but spacious inside. Food was excellent. The raw laab wasn't so good don't think I will order again. Sweet pork belly was tender and delicious but could use more sweetness. It was mostly self serve getting your own plastic plates, napkins and utensils. Most people order for take out but you can dine in as well. They also do catering. Will go again to try the Kapoon and Kaopia soups. Overall delicious.
Pork belly mostly consisted of the fatty part. Ratio of meat to fat was 30-70. Was soggy and skin not crunchy. Maybe give it another tryβ¦.maybe.
Food is delicious! The family who runs the restaurant is also super sweet. This place should definitely be considered a neighborhood staple. I'm looking forward to eating there many times in the future!
Awesome Kapong! It tasted like homemade. However, I am not a fan of their Khao piak. Looks more like pho than actual Khao piak. Besides that great service and food.
Was craving Nab Vam and pork belly. Read a lot of good reviews here so decided to stop by. The Nab Vam and Pork belly was delicious. Definitely recommend this place!
The food was soooo good! The pork belly was crispy and juicy and the ribs had a great looking smoke ring. This is now my fav weekly spot to dine!
Stopped by for lunch today and the food was great. Glad to have a Hmong deli in this part of town. Please continue to support local businesses.
Good food service
Food is GREAT!
Great people and food.
I love the Hmong food here!! Since we donβt have Hmong village in Brooklyn park. We are so happy to have pearl cafe next door to us. They serve clean delicious Hmong food that is so delicious!! Customer service is great!! If you havenβt tried the food there then that means you missing out!!
I recently visited Lucky Pearl Cafe and had an amazing experience. The beef pho was delicious and cooked to perfection. The service was top-notch and the atmosphere was inviting and comfortable. Overall, I give Lucky Pearl Cafe a 5-star rating and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty and enjoyable meal. Keep up the great work!
The pho was so good. Got it Togo and loved how they separated everything. The peanut type sauce with the egg rolls was a surprise but so amazing! Can't wait to go back, it was so good!
Everything was really good! I'm excited to have a hmong restaurant on this side of town.
The pork belly larb is so good!! It's very crunchy and soft.
Came when they opened. Nice little spot on the corner of the shopping strip. The pho (xl) looked more of a med bowl. Noodles were a little more done than I would had like. The broth was a little bland for me, the owner knew she should had added more ingredients this morning. The Kapoon was good. Saltiness was right amount. The noodles were firm. The fried chicken wing I had was ok. Nothing special to note but crispy crunch. The pepper sauce is a little more sweet with a tone of cilantro.
Food here is amazing, I wish I could post my pictures. It's a deli style restaurant, you walk in order and pay for the food then it gets brought to you. Hmong sausage is wonderful with the hot sauce. The owners and staff are so nice, we felt right at home.
The owner was super nice and has very welcoming, friendly staffs. Loved the dishes I had, especially the papaya! Also the place looks clean and new. Looking forward to support this small family-owned business more in the future.
