This unpretentious, family-run eatery boasts a sizable menu of Thai favorites for eat-in or takeout.
This place was delicious. We got the pad see ew, massaman curry, fresh spring rolls and the cream cheese puffs. All were exceptional. The pad see ew was one of the best I’ve had with a delicious sweet and salty sauce. The curry had a whole potato in it that just melted in your mouth. Cream cheese puffs were perfectly crispy and just exploded in a sweet creamy interior when bitten into. And the spring rolls didn’t come with the usual thick peanut sauce, but rather a sweeter sticky sauce that was a fun change of pace.
Overall I was very impressed with what we got and will definitely be back. Also the total was $46 including tip, which you definitely cannot beat with any other Thai restaurant in the area! I just wish they had drunken noodles, which is my usual go to when ordering Thai food.
What a treasure this place is. I’ve been going to Rascal’s family restaurant for over a decade and I had never tried Taste of Thaiyai which is next door. Frankly, I actually prefer this Thai place over Rascals now.
The food is excellent and generous. The Tom Yum was Yummy. The spring rolls were excellent. The wings were perfect. The beef curry was very complex and tasty. Also had the shrimp salad and it was fresh and light.
They were very busy for a Wednesday evening and there were a lot of take out orders as well. The entire restaurant was full yet the staff was friendly and professional. The service I give a solid A+
My only regret is not having tried Taste of Thaiyai sooner. Exceptional.

I’ve been here for another 8-10 times since my first review. This place has continued to be consistently good and has even gotten better. Tonight we had the Tom Kha, special spring rolls, duck curry, beef curry and it was all excellent. Service is friendly and quick. A+ again!

After dining the last 3-4 times, the food has remained excellent however the service has taken a massive nose dive. Tables are dirty. Service is unfriendly and uncaring. I feel bad for the cooks in the back making great food while the staff up front are failing miserably. Will not go back till they change.
The service was very good. The servers were friendly and polite. The food was generously proportioned, and the price was a very good deal. You can have a relatively healthy meal for a fast food level pricing. I had the egg roll and chicken curry. I ordered "hot", but the spiciness seemed to be on the milder side, but the food tasted good. I have added this restaurant on my favorites list for whenever I am in the area.
I order from here a lot and the noodles dishes are great but I tried the mango sticky rice here and the rice was hard. It seems like it needed to be cooked just a little bit longer
Update** it seems like they’re hit or miss sometimes and lately it’s been miss. The dishes haven’t been tasting as flavorful. The curry was terrible. For a Thai place that’s great all around the board would me Mela in west St. Paul. Highly recommend that place
Stopped in for soup , chose this place because the review was high for soup - order chicken Tom Yum (medium spice) and chicken Gai Tom Kha soup (mild). Both soups had great flavors; I would highly recommend both soups . There was a larger group , so I had to wait thus service was not immediate . Everyone was friendly . Average atmosphere, Nothing special , older building limited seating.
If I could give -stars or ZERO stars I would!!! The worse Thai restaurant I ever been to in my life!!! Horrible food, I can’t believe it. Over cooked mushie rice, old veggies, and the egg rolls that came out on a PLATE FULL OF GREECE. You couldn’t see the bottom of the plate that the egg rolls were served on. I had to ask for extra napkins so I could sit the egg rolls on top. Also, old cooking Greece is being used, the taste of everything was so horrible. Don’t waste your money here!! The service… I waited about 7 minutes for someone to great me and seat me, it was only 3 other people in the restaurant. Horrible service. Dirty restaurant. The plastic menus look like they weren’t cleaned since 1920! Just filthy.
Drove past this place and saw the great reviews after looking it up, so I had to try!
I ordered online to pickup which was very convenient. Large quantities for the price and the egg rolls were some of the best I’ve had! The dipping sauce was delicious and the egg rolls were so flavorful. I also ordered the pad se lew with chicken at a medium spice level. Great flavor and the spice was perfect for me. The chicken was a little dry but overall it was still delicious. I definitely will come back!
It's been a while since we were last there, but it keeps getting better! The food is fresh, excellent value, great service, and a very comfortable atmosphere! My husband insists that it tastes just like the food that he had when he went to Thailand. We are thrilled to see them thriving! We can't recommend Taste of Thaiyai enough!
The food here used to be great. What happened?
We bought the papaya salad and it's has no flavor what so ever. Just plain... Papaya.
Pad Thai is ok.
And, they ran out of rice?
I'm so disappointed.
I've had 1/4 of what's on the menu here and this place is great only thing i didnt like was the squid it was cooked to long so it was abit to rubbery also asking for things to be thai hot is a toss up sometimes your face n lips burn sometimes not so much but still tastes great everything else is very consistent

Place continues to disappoint. Ate in, there were 3 tables occupied and my wife and I had to first ask for water-and then refills, containers for our leftovers and our bill. Why? The two teens working were on their damn phones. DO NOT give this place your business!!
Awesomeness. Great service and some of the best food you will ever have.
I originally had a good review of this place on Google maps but my most recent experience completely shattered my faith in this restaurant.
Seems there was some management change, and it was clearly for the worse. We ordered vegan dishes and clearly said this multiple times, yet they still messed up our order and added egg (which is ok, mistakes happen).
What really prompted this review was the attitude they displayed. No apology--or any acknowledgment of a mistake being made--was issued, and furthermore they tried to shift the blame onto us for not clarifying that we didn't want egg in our food.
Not only this, BUT when they begrudgingly agreed to remake it, they took over 35 minutes (the original order took far less) and we had still not gotten our food. We ended up canceling our order.
Regardless of if you are vegan or not, I would stay away.
I've been ordering from here for 9 years and this used to be one of the easiest recommendations to friends and family for good Thai food. However the quality and service has been steadily degrading the last 2 years and after tonight I'm giving this place a long break.
The sauce with the cream cheese puffs has been watered down to the point that it's runny. I was also given an order of pad thai by mistake and it was unbearably sweet - I have ordered it in the past and it used to be nothing like this.
Also there is no organization anymore between FOH and the kitchen, as mentioned I was given incorrect items in my order and also had to wait 20 extra minutes for my takeout order once I arrived at the time given over the phone.
Used to be really good, appears to have lost its way. Curry dishes were bland, noodles appeared to be sweetened. Very little flavor. Appears to be focusing on takeout business only. The dining room is rather cold and unpleasant. Service is friendly but rushed.
Always always nice staff.. you can tell they have great pride in their food they serve and service.
I don't ever have anything bad to say about this place and it's been over 25 years.
Keep the great attitude and food going.
You rank 5 out of 5 in my book!!!
This was our "go to" Thai restaurant for take-out. It has been about 10 months since we have bèn back. Unfortunately, the recent order was not flavorful and not up to our previous experiences.
Great food all around. They accidentally missed a dish in our pickup order and replaced it no problem while also providing a delicious Thai salad as an unexpected bonus. Very flavorful and reasonable pricing.
Fantastic food, as always. The bad reviews are mostly about the Chinese dishes…
Maybe try the Thai food since this is a Thai restaurant?! Be brave. The world is calling. Be adventurous and try something new- it might change your life.
This visit was completely marred by a couple that had their cell phone on the loudest speakerphone possible- for the ENTIRE duration of my meal. Despite cranking my earbuds and sitting at the table that was furthest away, the CRINGINGLY LOUD jabber permeated my brain the whole time.
Vexation does not pair well with Duck.
Had I known this was going to happen when I entered, I would’ve turned around and marched straight back out. We were the only two tables with customers, and it was awkward. So I gobbled and was about to get the hell out of there, but the couple decided to leave JUST before me, after artfully avoiding my stink-eye for an hour.
Lunch break over.
Lunch is more than food. It is a break. A respite. Normally I would go to their table and ask them to spare the room, but I really did need a break.
I have no desire to police your customers, Thaiyai. You need to do that. Subjecting your customers (aka: captive audience) to this remarkably inconsiderate behavior (torture by mobile phone) is completely unforgivable in my book.
You were my favorite, but I’m going to explore all the other Thai Restaurants in the area, since the ambiance in this place is beyond unremarkable to begin with.
Take your food to go like everyone else, or go to a different Thai restaurant.
I asked if the restaurant serves pad kee mao. The waitress said she doesn’t know what that is and asked me to describe it. I did and she said, “is that like drunken noodles”. I said yes, that’s the same. She said, rudely, drunken noodles is Chinese and we are Thai. From a basic search: “Drunken noodles, also known as pad kee mao, is a spicy Thai stir-fried noodle dish. The dish is believed to have originated in the Central Plains region of Thailand. The dish is made with wide rice noodles, vegetables, and meat, typically chicken, beef, or seafood, seasoned with soy sauce, fish sauce, and chili peppers.”
Used to be my favorite Thai restaurant, but the recent owners / management have really let the place go. Food is now hit or miss, used to be perfect everytime. The server could not look any more irritated if she tried. Been going here for many years, but won't be bothering anymore.
Love this place - one of my family's favorites.
The curries here are some of the best in the area. Almost everything can be made vegetarian, and they are able to omit fish sauce in must this as well. The spring rolls are HUGE and delicious!
Above excellent service. Food wasn’t to my tasting but I’m picky. Definitely give them a chance.
Amazing food. Awesome vegan options. My kids love it too. Can't get enough. A little gem in Apple Valley. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
We've been going to Taste of Thaiyai for over 12 years. The food used to be amazing but food quality and service have tanked dramatically over the last 3 visits (1 year span) Unfortunately today was our last time. Wait times are long due to being short on staff, rice that came with the Masman curry was a mush, pad thai was very sweet, cream cheese puffs were warm and the waitress didn't check back with us. The only thing we enjoyed were the vegetarian egg rolls.
The food has changed and quality has been inconsistent. The rice is mushy, Pad Thai is way too sweet and the noodles are overcooked. Service has also gone downhill. We have been coming to Taste of Thaiyai for many years and sadly I don't think we'll be back.
Nothing was labeled so qe didn't know what it was....we order 5 different dishes and all tasted the same smh???
Absolutely the worse service. The restaurant was not clean, we had to ask for silverware, then napkins. They took or food to 3 different tables to see if it was there's before bringing or to our table. The food was cold, the chicken was so rubbery and was not edible. We informed our sever the food was cold. She looked at us and went to the check out counter and didn't come back. The massaman curry was one big cold bowl of mush. It looked like mash potato. We took one bite, paid our bill, left the food, and went to the next door to Raising Cane's.
Tasty Thai dishes at a reasonable price. Good service too.
If you are vegetarian or vegan. Don't be fooled by their advertisement as having vegetarian food! I ordered noodle dish that was on the menu as "vegetarian". When I received the noodle dish, and started eating, I could taste "something fishy" and I lost my appetite. One of the staff asked what was wrong. I asked her, does this dish that I ordered have fish sauce in it? She affirmed that the dish did indeed have fish sauce in it. She offered to have a new dish be made without the fish sauce. Apparently, you have to specify " no fish" when ordering the dish on the menu, which mind you is in the vegetarian part of the menu! On a side note, I am all for supporting family business however the 11 or 12 year kid, who was helping by serving the food needs to know not to stick their fingers "inside" the food bowls when serving! I recently just found out the new fast food "Dave's Hot Chicken" in Apple Valley has: Surprise! , they have "non-chicken" Cauliflower Burgers! It is really good! They don't advertise this. Finally a fast food for vegetarians!
Outstanding food that came out quickly with good-sized portions.
This is honestly the best kept secret of MN and it shouldn’t be. The good here is not only amazing and fresh and incredibly well made but it is also priced extremely well. If you like cream cheese puffs theirs will ruin you for any others for the rest of your life. They are just amazing. My staple is the the chicken curry but I have tried a ton of other stuff and I have yet to not love something. The fresh meats and veggies are awesome. If you’re looking for traditional American style with lots of breaded meat this is just not for you.
The staff is always super nice and friendly. They have updated the interior and it looks pretty. I just get it to go. But the one time I ate in the restaurant the service was perfect.
Great food!
A small family restaurant. But it offers affordable tasty Thai food.
I have ordered take out several times and this is a hit or miss for wait time and accuracy. My recent order (07/19/24) was made online and with specific instructions that the spring rolls had no pork in them and my pad thai was shrimp. I do not eat meat so this is very important to me.
After a longer than normal wait time (15-17 minutes past the estimate) I picked up the order to go home and eat. After a couple bites of the pad thai, I found pieces of chicken. I had it confirmed as I continued picking at the meal. I called the store to complain and was told I could get a store credit .. okay, so I thought. It's not ideal as I would have preferred a refund.
I then went to eat a spring roll and after a bite, I found pieces of pork. 😟. The only food I could eat in my $41 order was my half of the cream cheese wontons.
It's seriously disappointing that instructions couldn't be read and followed and store credit was the only remedy vs a refund. This isn't the first time I've encountered pork in the spring rolls despite instructions saying to keep it out.
Mistakes get made but trust gets broken. It's sad too since their food is usually good.
Came in for pick up after placing an order over the phone and specifically asked for no peanuts in the sauce. When I walked in there are several adult employees sitting at a table, not doing anything, and they sent a child to help me. He confirmed the order with me and I left. No Thai fried rice and peanuts were in the sauce. Food is great, service is not nearly as great.
The food is great, even when doing pick-up. The annoying thing is they will ask for a tip, but won't even do the minimum level of service of handing you the food. They will point to the bag on the next table - one step away from them - and point it at you to pick it up.
Why did I just tip on a pick-up order when you won't even do the least amount of service of handing me the food I just paid for?
Rancid "crab" meat. And I mean genuinely rancid. Not safe to consume. Utterly disgusting. And the cherry on top was terrible service and lack of care when we tried to inform them they were serving unsafe food
Hadn't been to our long time "fave" Thai restaurant for a year and we were shocked with the subpar service and food today. It has changed! It took 15 min for the server to take our order for four. My husband's Pad Thai (consisting of lukewarm noodles and a few bean sprouts...nothing more) was served 15 min later, my order 10 min after that, and the final shared order was another 13 min later. The 4 of us each ate at separate times! There were only 2 other customers eating in the restaurant. Meanwhile several To Go orders were packaged and sent out while we waited and watched. Do in-house customers not take precedence? In addition, something was not going well in the kitchen as the staff were arguing and raising their voices at each other. Is this restaurant under new management?
Excellent pad thai - one of my favorites I've had in the Twin Cities. Papaya salad was great too. Will definitely be back.
Excellent taste, portions, price, and service. Strong recommend.
Legit delish
My favorite and local goto for Thai curry! The sweet sticky rice with mango is also good. I get take out here regularly.
Seems recent changes may have happened in management and cook. Food is still good, but not the same as it used to be. They recently painted the interior walls which was overdue. Maybe they should consider replacing the flooring. I will revisit for sure as it's the closest Thai place to my house.
Fast service. Green curry was Delicious. The fried wontons were very crispy.
Taste of Thaiyai is located in a small strip mall. The parking is fairly easy but quite tightly packed. Last night, Sunday April 28th, was my first time eating at this restaurant with my siblings and mother who is visiting from out of the country. After a 50 minute drive, I was very excited to eat at this restaurant after reading the positive reviews.
Atmosphere: With brightly painted yellow walls, this mom-and-pop restaurant is a homey yet busy establishment. My group was seated in the center of the restaurant- it was a bit uncomfortable because we felt like we were on display to the smaller tables surrounding us. My mother joked that she felt like she was a table centerpiece. This feeling was also elevated due to the lack of environment music to drown out our conversations as well as the other tables that were seated.
Service: We were greeted at the front desk by what appeared to be a 14 year old boy who then sat us at our table. The service of the waiting and kitchen staff was quick and efficient. The staff were not very bubbly or charismatic overall but they were straight to the point; which I appreciate. They were very attentive to our wants/needs.
Food: Since it was my first time dining at this restaurant, I decided to stick with my safe options. I ordered the pork special egg rolls, spicy chicken wings, cream cheese puffs and an order of pineapple fried rice. My favorite part of this meal was the cream cheese puffs although it tasted more like a dessert than it did a savory appetizer (the cream cheese was sweet and the dipping sauce was OVERLY sweet). The chicken wings were very bland, unseasoned and pale although they were fried to a crisp. They came with a sauce that was basically inedible because it had a strong molasses taste and texture. The portion of the pineapple fried rice was ENORMOUS; It was enough rice to feed about three people. The rice itself tasted old and semi uncooked which was disappointing because Thai food is known for its rice dishes. The flavor lacked the umami taste. The egg rolls were mediocre.
Overall, I would rate my experience at this establishment a 3/5. If you are a lover of savory, well-seasoned and fresh foods, I would not recommend eating here. A couple Thai food restaurants that I recommend and are worth a drive are Thai & More in New Brighton and, of course, Amazing Thailand in Uptown Minneapolis.
Flavorful Gluten-free options. Friendly staff! Great food! 😊
We've been longtime customers of this establishment (we're talking decades). It's always been good. But lately both the food and service has dropped off dramatically. We always order the squid pad Thai and cream cheese puffs. The last time we ordered, about two weeks ago, I put in an order by phone and repeated things more than once to make sure it was understood. I even gave two spiciness requests for our two pad thais. We only got one pad Thai and my boyfriend had to drive all the way back for another one. Why would I have given two different spiciness requests for only one pad Thai? I had to have said I wanted two orders at least three times. At least the take out container for both was filled and seemed like a fair amount.
Fast forward to today. My boyfriend ate inside the restaurant in the afternoon with several friends. Everyone arrived separately but ordered at the same time. My boyfriend had to wait 15 minutes after everyone got their meals for his to come out. Only it did not have any meat in it! He had to wait another 5-10 minutes to get his meal. Everyone was done eating by the time he got his food. Also they were barely checked on at all during the meal and the check was delivered without being separated and it was never offered to be separated. What restaurant does this?
My boyfriend ordered take out for me to bring home. To my chagrin, I opened the package and the take out container was barely over half full. At least two weeks ago the $16 order of pad Thai filled the container. Today it was pretty pathetic. Plus the oil tasted burnt/off and it was pretty gross. When you're paying $16 for pad Thai plus tax and tip, you expect a bit more for $20+.
Unfortunately, we won't be going back to this restaurant after they screwed up three times in a row now. This was our favorite pad Thai place in the whole twin cities and we traveled half an hour to get it regularly. I'm not sure what's happened to it but it's barely a shadow of what it used to be. So disappointing.
This trend of service workers just taking tips for granted despite doing bad jobs has to stop. We always tip well and they still got a tip but they didn't really deserve it did they? We wanted them to stay in business and are willing to tip but we've been fooled three times now and don't feel like taking a chance on a fourth.
prices we paid were higher than what the listed and online menu suggested.
Absolutely wonderful place to go if you're looking for a good meal with friends or even a date.
Food is great. Lots of amazing Thai staples.
Can be ordered to your grade of spice tolerance.
Gotta take the Spring rolls with peanut sauce.
Tom Yum soup is delicious (be careful if you can't handle the space levels it will get you).
Service is great and friendly.
This is definitely one of everyone's favorites for takeout.
Decor... Oh who cares , you're there for the food anyway!
Best Thai food I've ever eaten on my travels. The place is a small family owned resturant and is small and cute on the inside. We had the fresh special spring rolls, the chicken egg rolls, Tom kha, papaya salad, and noodle soup (pho). Everything was absolutely delicious. The spring rolls were fresh and a really good size. The egg rolls were fresh, flakey, and tasty. The Tom kha had amazing developed flavors and came with rice. The papaya salad was also very well balanced and had great flavor. The pho was also really tasty with great balance and flavor. Overall all dishes were fresh, delicious, and came in generous portions. I would recommend sharing dishes if you want to try more that one item. The girls were also very friendly and made us feel right at home. We would definitely come back again.
Best Thai food I've had anywhere I've lived. Top 5 best restaurants in MN easily.

I’ve been here for another 8-10 times since my first review. This place has continued to be consistently good and has even gotten better. Tonight we had the Tom Kha, special spring rolls, duck curry, beef curry and it was all excellent. Service is friendly and quick. A+ again!

We ordered fried rice, noodles n chicken rolls, rice n noodles was full of oil with no taste, chicken rolls were smelling like they were older than 2 days, very disappointed
holy smokes, these are the best special spring rolls ive ever had! 😊
Best Thai food around! Fresh spring rolls and vegetarian egg rolls are a must. Very friendly and helpful staff. Love this spot for carryout! Dont order the deep fried beef though
Super good! It was my first time and I was impressed.
This is my favorite Thai restaurant! Great food most of the time, but sometimes misses. They have a huge menu so I haven't tried it all, but the have fantastic pad Thai and other noodles, best papaya salad, yummy curries, spicy stuffed chicken wings, mmm. Sometimes though I've gotten meals that were below their normal quality; it's happened multiple times where a dish feels like it's missing something flavor wise. Overall it's great.
Hubby and I wanted to try something new and found this place based on the ratings. The area is tucked away a bit and is unsuspecting.
Once our appetizer of #1. Vegetarian Egg Rolls arrived, I was hooked, and they disappeared very quickly! The dipping sauce and extra peanuts were a great addition to the texture and flavors.
I then ordered the #38. Pra Ram Long Song with tofu. The flavors... the medium spice, and everything was just glorious. I will definitely order this again.
Hubby ordered #68. Pad Thai with chicken. He ordered his spicy but said he will try extra spicy next time. He enjoyed the food and will probably order the Pad Thai again with veggies next time.
We both took half our entrées home for leftovers and full stomachs. I'm so glad we found Taste of Thai Yai, so thank you to all the people who rated this high so it popped up on my radar. We will be back again and again and again.
Food is consistently good.
Placed an order online for valentines day, knowing they would be busy I placed the order well ahead of the time, requesting my food be ready at 7:45 (3 hours after I placed my order). I arrived shortly after 7:45 to find 6-8 people waiting for their orders as well. One guy tells the rest of us he's been there for 2 hours waiting for his order. I hear them rattle of a few numbers of orders that are ready (none of which match my order number) and notice another lady come in to pick up her order who just walked around the counter and grabbed her order. So I figured I'd do the same and check if my order was in fact there. Indeed, it was and the guy who had been waiting hours for his food informs me that my order had been sitting there since before he got there(2 hours ago). So my food which was ordered to be picked up at 7:45 had been sitting on their counter for hours getting cold. They're too busy to remake my order and I'm hungry, my wife was hungry, so I bring the food home. It was cold, soggy and nearly inedible, I threw away most of it. I wanted so badly to like this place and I hope others have a better experience, but this was terrible.
Very tasty. Good service and reasonably priced.
Best Thai I’ve ever had
Try the green curry. So good.
The Chicken fried rice is terrible..No flavor..It's like they used old rice and threw some dried white meat in there with huge chunks of onions and splashed some soy sauce in there...They should be ashamed
Great Thai food. Zero ambience for dining in.
Great food and very friendly service. Looking forward to coming again!
First time experience and would definitely recommend others to try if haven’t already. Cozy environment with very nice sincere staff and chef. Tried the egg rolls, Tom yum soup, Gai Tom Kha Soup and wonton soup. Everything was extremely delicious. They have so many items on their menu to choose from. Have to come back. Lucky day to have found this busy little place.
I eat here every time I have the chance. The food is consistently amazing and you get a great amount of food for the price--i almost always have enough leftovers for another meal.
Great service with tasty food 🫰🏻
The service was very good. The servers were friendly and polite. The food was generously proportioned, and the price was a very good deal. You can have a relatively healthy meal for a fast food level pricing. I had the egg roll and chicken curry. I ordered "hot", but the spiciness seemed to be on the milder side, but the food tasted good. I have added this restaurant on my favorites list for whenever I am in the area.
Nice and friendly staff
We ordered food for pickup from this place. Vegetable curry and chicken curry were great but broccoli beef fried rice was gross and not edible (barely any meat and broccoli in it, just tons of rice). Thai sausage was dry and strange with just a few pieces of steamed vegetables and sausage.
We arrived on time to pick up our order and was told the pad Thai wasn’t ready it’d be a couple of minutes more. Waited about 5 minutes and another person went to check on the order. She came back and said 1 of our items was out of season so they would refund us for it. So we waited 20 minutes at home and then 15 more at the business to be told this. I would expect to get a call back if something wasn’t available so we could choose another item. We’ve been waiting 45 minutes since we arrived at the business and have no order yet.
Really tasty! Portions are good sized
went there with my mom based on the reviews, worst thai food either of us have had, and we have been to many thai restaurants.
the fresh spring rolls were huge and ok, but the sauce was WAY too sweet and left me with a sore throat. i ordered a stir fry, extra hot, to their credit they did make it reasonably hot, but the chicken was absolutely over cooked, totally bland and rubbery, the vegetables were ok, but the sauce was watery and virtually flavorless. i make way better stir fry at home.
my mom got the same thing, but asked for mild. they did not make it mild, id call it a medium and i have a pretty high tolerance. it was inedible to her and she had to send it back, which i have never seen her do. same complaints, in her case the tofu was rubbery and unflavored, and the sauce was watery and bland.
never going back, it seems like this is one of those "they used to be good but changed owners" deals, i could absolutely believe that reading some of the glowing reviews.
Fresh, friendly, fast! We will be back :)
Food was not good. Seafood was old. Shrimp was rubbery, fried rice was sweet, spring roll was pre-made and almost frozen. Barely ate any of the food, management didn't even offer a refund. Charged us full price of $64. I will never go back there.
Very good authentic Thai, good spices.
Our table got the spring rolls, battered deep fried vegetables, pad thai and chicken curry and everything was delicious! I'll definitely be back.
We love this place, It's our favorite take out joint! our usually large orders are always ready quickly, usually within 15 mins from when we call. The food is delicious; our favorites are Pad Thai, Pra Ram Long Song, chicken eggrolls, and the mango sticky rice.
They can get busy, but the wait is never too long. Eat local!
Best egg rolls ever, hands down! Everything that we've tried here has been absolutely amazing and at an excellent price. Plus awesome staff! We can't wait to go back again!
I have been going to this restaurant for years.
The food is always so fresh! The service is always prompt, friendly and attentive.
I have tried so many plates here and NEVER have I been disappointed! I recommend family and friends and they always agree with me…delicious!
Thank you Taste of Thaiyai for always bring your customers quality food with care!
Not as good as it used to be! Was on of my favorites! They appear to be cutting corners. Nice staff though!
Nice little hole in the wall Thai restaurant, extremely happy with the flavor of the food. The staff were friendly and the service was fast.
Quality has gone downhill over time. I added calamari to my shrimp Pad Thai and the calamari was not fresh at all, shrimp overcooked. Tasted good. good spice. Not great.
I've been going to this location for years. The staff and owners are great and the food is great. The massaman curry is incredible.
Outstanding food; likely the best cream cheese puffs in the twin cities
An evening of indulgence that left us thoroughly satisfied.
The place seemed disorganized and the atmosphere was loud and chaotic! Food was ok but didn’t come out all at once. Very disappointing!
A delicious gem of a restaurant. Taste of Thaiyai is a great lowkey place to eat family style. The Spicy Thai Basil was a crowd favorite and it was such a relief to actually be spicy.
Food was good if not a littttttle greasy. The gai tom kha was the best of everything we ordered.
We ate take out- so can’t comment much on the location. The food was… meh. We’ve definitely had worse in the area and this wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t anything special. Pretty bland. The cream cheese puffs were the biggest hit, which seems to be par for the course in reading other reviews. Egg rolls were okay. Again- we have had far worse in the area but nothing that would make me come back. The fortune cookies were awful. Not sure if they were old or what but they were so stale they were actually chewy. Not the way to cap off a meal…
As always, so very good 👍
Best chicken curry and cream cheese wontons ever
Really bad experience, bad service, long waiting time, the food was not the best, they don’t even say hi to you, we stopped eating still waiting for one of our dishes 🙄 it was our first and last time here!
Best food ever. I love the Masman Curry with chicken. The Pad Thai is also amazing. The chicken satay app is a must-have every time I go there. When I place a pick-up order, it's always ready quickly, and over all the years I've gone here, it's never been incorrect or missing anything. Fantastic and tasty food!
Very disappointed, my wife ordered chicken pad Thai, I ordered beef pad pak, and we both ordered beef egg rolls, very little to no chicken in the pad thai and I found 4 tiny pieces of beef in my pad pak, sucks because I actually really like this dish. And the beef egg rolls changed, went from amazing to just a ton of wrap now ....
These new owners just lost long time customers.
good food. I like their Chicken Satay.
A staple in the area for Thai. My food was hot but quite greasy.
The food is always good, but they tell you a take out will be ready in 30-35 minutes. It ends up being over an hour.
If they ever figure out how to get orders ready on time, I’ll be back.
Until then we’ll go somewhere else.
Don't bother ordering online they say they missed the order and make you wait anyway. Very poor service
I love it but why won't they give out Sweet N Sour sauce? Every time I order Eggrolls and specifically ask for Sweet N Sour, they give me peanut sauce. Every time. And then when you catch it and ask for Sweet N Sour they give you cups that are barely filled. Why won't they give out the Sweet N Sour?
Delicious food lots of great options
Best Thai in the area, everything is very good and quality
The food and the service was great in this place The prices were good The atmosphere left a little be desired but the other two worked
Ordered beef curry fried rice and roast duck curry . The meat was tough in both (like it was re heated) .Very disappointing. Flavors where good though.
Love this place... but recently food has been subpar. Hope this changes.
Best Thai. Fast service.
Always an amazing experience at this restaurant. Whether it's take out our dine in they are friendly and fast. Best Thai food in the Minneapolis area. I've been going here for many years.
First visit - we waited near the entrance for 9-10 minutes until someone told us we could have a seat at any table. We were not given menus for over 10 minutes. Once we ordered, we received our appetizers and my food in a very quick time frame - within 15 minites of ordering, however the rest of my family waited over 45 minutes to receive just 2 of their meals which made this a bad experience for our first visit. They did comp 1 meal from our bill, and sadly we did not have extra time to have them sit and enjoy their meal as we had spent an hour of waiting. The staff was very friendly - just miscommunication between the servers and cooks.
Cream Cheese puffs are awesome! 😊
I was expecting authentic Thai food but I was extremely disappointed. Food was not seasoned and they use so much fish sauce in the 2 salad that I order. The 4 pad kra paw that I ordered was extremely sweet and watery that they forgot to serve rice with. The only good things will be the big portion which I don’t care for. Total I spend tonight was about $180. This will be the first and last time. Foods was extremely bad coming from someone who grow up eating daily Thai foods.
Family owned and operated. Food is fantastic.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would!!!! They choose when they are opened and closed although they won't update their website! It's says they close at 9pm and yet walked in at 8:15 for a "to'go" order and they said the kitchen was closed!!! Restaurant typical have their closed hours as the latest time they'll seat patrons AND then they close! Don't bother with this place, there is better food elsewhere!!
Great food. Egg Rolls and fried rice are excellent. We order take out but can eat in.
Outstanding food. Extremely kind and friendly staff. Great quality and excellent prices.
Love this place! Best Thai in town
Best Thai place I've found in the twin cities area
It's a clean place. Enormous amount of food. Great value.
The service is super fast. The food is very delicious. I will definitely go back to this place to try more dishes off their menu. The menu is HUGE!! They offer a lots of things.
A favorite place to go for our family. The special spring rolls are the best in the Twin Cities!
I am especially picky when it comes to Southeast Asian cooking, because no one cooks better than your grandma.
I got pad see ew, tom yum, and papaya salad. The pad see ew was a bit too sweet, I think it could have used a little bit more of a savory flavor. The tom yum was pretty good but there was a real lack of vegetables in there (95% soup and 5% vegetables). The papaya salad was pretty good though. Felt pretty standard and the fishiness was there. It could have used some peppers though to really bring out more of it, it felt bland compared to ones I have had.
Overall I'd say it's ok. There are better places nearby.
I love their Tom Yum seafood soup.
The BEST Thai food. One day I will convince them to tell me how to make their secret egg roll sauce...... Please.....?
Nothing but rice noodles: very little seafood (shrimp, squid). At least they pretty much got the name of their "Silver Thread Soup with Squid" correct: Again, a pile of noodles and only a couple pieces of squid for around seventeen dollars. Never again.
All time favorite Thai place!
Amazing food
Cozy restaurant
Great service
Nice staff, cute place, authentic Thai. Very helpful and responsive with answers to questions I had about some soup. Definitely go again. My girlfriend loved it as well. She tried 3 new things that she liked alot. She's picky but left very happy.
Following moving to Lakeville and my manager claiming this is one of his favorite carry out spots, my husband and I finally gave it a try and we were pleasantly surprised. It is a small restaurant with friendly, attentive staff, and flavorful food. Our appetizer and entrees were served promptly! We tried the chicken satay - slightly crispy on the outside while moist and tender beneath accompanied by a nice peanut sauce. Husband tried the beef Pra Ram Long Song - with it's addicting sauce, he nearly devoured it all in one sitting! I tried the chicken Tom Yum and it was exactly what I was hoping for - I chose mild which was pretty much the maximum spiciness level I could handle. We have leftovers for another meal.
We'll definitely return! I'm going to try the following over our next visits: Egg Roll, Stuffed Young Bamboo Shoots, Gai Tom Kha, Chicken Curry, Massaman Curry, Pad Prik Khing, Papaya Salad, Beef Pad Thai, Rice Noodle Soup, BBQ Pork Egg Noodle Soup, Thai Coffee w/ Condensed Milk. Until next time!
This place was so yummy. We got here late after a tournament and even though it was late, they were super nice and welcoming. We got the chicken egg rolls and they were crispy and light. I tried my staple of pad see ew and it was amazing. We also got the green curry and it was very flavorful. Everything was very clean and it there was only one other table there since it was so late. It was very nice to get such great food and service, especially with it being so late.
