Family-owned Thai eatery serves up classic cuisine & weekday lunch deals in a warm, colorful space.
This is my first time ever going to a Thai restaurant I've drove by this place numerous times but never thought to stop or even give it a second glance because it's kind of hidden so to say but a friend recommended this place said that it had really good food and that we should go. The staff was extremely friendly and food was delicious! I had the Catfish Pad Ped which was amazing I got the medium spice which was just the right amount of heat. Also got the summrolls with coconut sauce. They were light fresh and the sauce was to die for! I can't wait to go back and try something else! Thank you for the great experience as a first time Thai tryout.
I used to go here fairly regularly but after not having gone for several years I wanted to go with a friend and was very happy to see that not only was it still in business, but that it is doing very well. At a peak time it's going to be full.
We shared Summer rolls which are like Spring rolls but with a different sauce--it's a very tasty good coconut sauce--and not fried. The menu says you get 2 rolls per order but we actually got 4! The vegetables were very fresh and crispy wrapped in a thin rice paper.
I got the Green Curry. All the vegetables were very fresh and done just right--not mushy. The soup base is rich and tasty. I loved that there were several levels of spiciness to choose from: not spicy, mild, medium, medium+, hot, very hot and nuclear. I chose hot and that was quite accurate, unlike some restaurants, not too hot and definitely beyond medium.
The Thai dishes were phenomenal! It was honestly the best Thai food with Halal chicken option that I’ve had since I left NYC. We came here on Monday and ordered medium plus spice. The restaurant ambience was more casual family restaurant style. The service was good and the food came out quickly. Just to note they already had gratuity added.
Here’s my thoughts on what we ordered (all dishes I’d order again):
- Drunken noodles - the noodles were cooked to perfection and perfectly spiced. My dad loved them!!!
- Sesame chicken - was delicious, and nice and saucy. Broccoli was cooked well.
- Honey chicken - very good, tasted more like sweet and sour chicken to me but I didn’t mind.
- Red curry - my second favorite! It was the right amount of spice and the chicken was nice and soft. I could taste the fresh Thai basil. Ugh sooo good!
- Fried tilapia with eggplant - My favorite dish and my mom’s too! The fish and eggplant were so crispy and an amazing combo!
I am definitely coming back again even though I live a hour away. A must try if you haven’t!
Always phenomenal service one of the waiters engages with my family, which creates a family like atmosphere for our experience.
They never seem to mind the rice, my children get all over the floor … depending how the week is going we dine in or takeout they are accommodating to both.
First time having pho here and it was a pleasant surprise, my children finished a bowl. We typically order the Hawaiian rice with extra shrimp, crab Rangoon , spring rolls, and of course the mango sticky rice, which is delicious you want to slurp the mango sauce..
MANGO Sticky rice deserves a review of its own. It’s a must must try.! ( sadly, we ate the mango rice so fast I have no pictures will post next time)
Great flavourful Thai food-
Order a chicken curry dish and honestly loved the taste of it. Had a hint of sweetness, a lot of spice, and a nice base of coconut milk. Portion sizes were generous too, leaving you full. The food did take a while to come out though, having waiting for nearly an hour. Would highly recommend otherwise if in the mood for some good Thai food in the area!
Great experience beyond my expectations. We ordered the sesame chicken which was delightful with an authentic sauce I haven't had anywhere else. Pad Thai with chicken non spicy was also amazing with so much flavor! Also can't forget the chicken fried rice which was a treat as well. If you are in the A2/Ypsi area and crave authentic Thai food, well here you are! :-)
Food is super gas. Yt folk advised to get medium spice at the most.
Had curry and crispy tilapia they were fantastic!
The food is absolutely amazing.
the meal was delicious and was served pretty quickly! it was a relaxed atmosphere, pretty cozy :) staff was kind as well!

I love their green curry! Everyone is so friendly.
The food was excellent!! They are so friendly as well. Service was 10/10.
My wife and I have ordered food from here several times with no issues, but after our most recent order we both became violently ill. It's unfortunate since this was our go-to Thai restaurant, but also highly concerning and not something we want to risk again. As a result, we won't be ordering from here in the future.
Looked for something fast and delicious near the hospital. Gave this place a try and was thoroughly impressed. Noodles were flavorful, vegetables perfectly cooked, can't wait to try them again.

Went there on a recommendation and glad we did all the meals were great and the steamed dumplings are the best I've ever had and people are so friendly I'll definitely stop back next time I'm in the area
I was in the bathroom and saw a kitchen worker coming out of the stall and didn't wash their hands. I informed the man working the counter and he was very rude and told me it's not my problem and did nothing!!! Grosss
We had takeout food from here, and it was quite good. We would definitely get Thai food here again.
As authentic as it comes!
The food is only getting better!
The food was awesome! The staff were very friendly
Food slaps, small lil restaurant but they kick out the food quick. Usually in and out for a pickup order, not waiting on my food.
Just got takeout pineapple curry. Yooo they snapped on that one 🔥🔥 sooo good wow. talk to em tuptim 🗣️
The Thai basil fried rice is the best I’ve ever had 😮💨
good curry noodle, nice staff
Delicious food, great service!!
Fantastic food, and by far the spiciest I've ever had! Love it!
Waiter pushed us to order. Satay chicken and spring rolls were tasteless. Pad Thai curry was pretty good. Pho was good. Pad see ewe was v good. Not expensive. Not licensed for alcohol.
We have long loved the food, and today didn't disappoint.
We ordered quite a few appetizers for the youngest kids, and they came out so quickly! The main dishes were each distinct and had great fresh flavors. The service was excellent, delivered with care and kindness. Thanks for a great meal for our whole family!
The restaurant was very busy but it was quick to seat 2. The waiters were quick in getting our orders and the Thai iced tea was delicious. Food took 30-45 minutes - the pad see eew came out first and it was delicious. But unfortunately we waited so long for the massaman curry and was disappointed as it wasn’t good. Next time I will probably only order takeout and avoid the curry
Used to be a great place with good, flavorful food and great service. New owners; NO FLAVOR, and mediocre service at best.
I had a very interesting dish here, which was a combination of Pad Thai and a regular Thai curry. Not the best Thai food I’ve had but I’d certainly go back here.
Place is great. Portions are large. Can't go wrong with the red curry 😋
Huge portions. Authentic Thai food!! A little expensive but worth it.
Delicious Thai food. Medium+ is just the right amount of heat for us
OMG! What a lucky find on our part. From out of town and taking someone to an appointment at the hospital. Decided to get a bite to eat and give this place a try. It was phenomenal!!!
One of the best Thai places in Ypsi.
Food is delicious and affordable.
Lovely food. Place looks as if it were once an Arthur Treacher’s Fish & Chips shop. No liquor license. We brought a bottle of wine and they wanted to charge us $20 to open it, even though it was a screw top.
Great food and great service! Staff is super friendly and the food is amazing
Best Thai since the Oregon Coast! I am so thankful and happy right now. You know the meal is good when the conversation happens with the eyes while eating! Even the candy at the end was good! 5 stars all the way.
Best Thai around. Love their lunch specials!
I had basil fried rice with medium spice, and it was yummy! Medium spice may feel hot for some, so I recommend mild, but it was worth it. 10/10
A cozy Thai restaurant. Server was very friendly. Food was served hot and yummy! Will be coming back.
Best Thai food in Ann Arbor area. The curry Pad Thai is excellent.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food here! My sister and I got a papaya salad to share, pad see ew, and a green tofu curry. The papaya salad was a little too sweet and the curry a little too salty for our liking but that's also personal preference. The pad see ew was amazing though, with the smoky wok flavor coming through. Would definitely come back for the pad see ew alone!
Update (8/5) - came back with friends, and I had another amazing meal here! Pad see ew was consistent and amazing just like last time! Someone recommended the tilapia eggplant dish, and I'm so glad they did. It was amazing, texture and flavor wise! Even friends who didn't like eggplant or fish enjoyed the dish 😊 would come back for that dish alone!
Tuptim is unmatched for Thai food that delivers that spice when you are craving it. Their red curry pad thai is insanely good, with a huge portion. It's important to note that if you order medium, it is certainly more like medium+ or hot level so be prepared for the spice! So good. I love their crab rangoons, they have a unique shape and super tasty.
Finally, their Mango Sweet Rice is the ultimate side dish, especially if you're craving something sweet. By far my new fav for hot fresh spicy thai food in the area!
Food was OK, but haven't been here to figure out a favorite dish. Server started out unfriendly but improved.
I don't know what happened to this place. Maybe it's sold to new owners, but the server was rude and Curt and basically unpleasant. I ordered my vegetable curry medium spicy and not only were there barely any vegetables in the dish, but there was no heat to it at all. Heaven forbid, you have to ask a question to the servers. They are pretty sharp with their response. I won't come back.

My partner and I recently dined at Tuptim Thai and had an exceptional experience! The Pad See Ew was perfectly cooked with rich, savory flavors. The Pad Ped Tofu was bursting with aromatic spices with the perfect amount of heat.
The staff were incredibly accommodating to special diets, making it easy for everyone to enjoy a wonderful meal. I highly recommend Tuptim Thai for authentic Thai cuisine and top-notch service!
We Love Thai food, and we have eaten at many Thai restaurants across Michigan.
The staff is Always nice, Polite, helpful, and will hold a conversation with us, and to us, that’s important. Food is Always spot on and DELICIOUS, Every time!
This restaurant, is one of the only ones that Doesn’t force me to “run” for a bathroom after eating.
Keep up the good job preparing delicious meals! Your food Rocks!
Definitely come eat here!
Delicious and very nice staff
It was like “where’s the beef?” experience. First and last visit for sure.
Chicken Pad Thai was fantastic! Bathrooms were pretty bad, though
The Lady was surprisingly rude and was yelling at a poor guy when they were just trying to order take out. I don’t know what with the lady, but she seems so angry to me and my friends for no reason. Feels like she is trying to have a fight with us.
Food tastes good overall. But it is over priced considering the portion. $3 for switch white rice to brown rice.
Will not come back.
The food is absolutely top tier. The wonton soup is the BEST soup I’ve ever had anywhere…the yellow curry is so flavorful and out of this world. The mango and sticky rice with coconut milk to put on top…I just have no words for how much me and my family love this place. Everything just gets better Everytime we go. :) We love you Tuptim!
Amazing amazing food! Everything I’ve gotten from here has been wonderful - my favorite is the crispy tilapia and eggplant. The staff here is always so nice and considerate!
Fantastic food at an affordable price!
This food is so amazing!! Every dish we’ve ordered here is delicious
The Thai dishes were phenomenal! It was honestly the best Thai food with Halal chicken option that I’ve had since I left NYC. We came here on Monday and ordered medium plus spice. - Fried tilapia with eggplant - My favorite dish and my mom’s too! The fish and eggplant were so crispy and an amazing combo!
I am definitely coming back again even though I live a hour away. A must try if you haven’t!
We ordered the massaman curry, red curry, and basil fried rice to-go. They gave us one small box of rice for two entrees. The masamman curry was so sour, I think this was the worst massaman curry I ever had. The red curry and basil fried rice were okay.
Do not order the massaman curry.
This is really good Thai!! Love the variety of menu items (not just the trendy ones) and everything tastes great and is made with quality ingredients. If we lived closer, we would probably frequent this place more than we would like to admit! Try the soups and the papaya salad.
Nam Prick Pow IS delicious. 9 out of 10.
SKIP the Spring Rolls. They're CRAP. store bought ?! Use to be delicious too. Sauce is generic, nothing special.
Good fast service and good, carefully prepared food. Better than average Thai restaurant standards.
The best food for dollar you will ever experience this place is amazing
I love the scallops, garlic and basil dish and treat myself to it whenever I am in the area.
We were in the area and found this place when looking for Thai restaurants on Google maps. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly and nice. Both my wife and I ordered a spice level of hot and one of the staff asked us if it was hot enough and we said it’s not hot at all. Then he brought us some dried chilli flakes and that made it really hot, we liked it. However, with that said, we didn’t really like the Massaman and that’s one of our favorite Thai curry. The Massaman was really watery here, unlike what we are used to. The red curry was also watery. Each of those curry entrees came with a tiny cup of white rice, not sure why they serve such a small amount of rice with an entree. We asked for two more cups of rice and they charge $3 for each cup, I’d feel better if they charged a few bucks more and then provided more rice with the entrees. For some reason they give you a little green plate to eat on, I felt like I was eating on my kids ikea plate, not sure why the plates are so small. There were a lot of people dining at this place so others like it. We felt it was very average Thai food so we will not be back.
Great place to try pad Thai and fried rice, very friendly staff. The food quantity was sufficient. Wide variety of vegetarian options.
Pho is amazing!
Best Thai Food this California girl has ever had! Fresh, flavorful, and affordable! Staff is the best. Recommend the curry puffs, the pad thai and the green vegetable curry.
Amazing red curry
Great food!
Tom Khaa soup, beef salad is DELICIOUS.
Joined some wonderful friends for dinner on one of the busiest nights ever. We were still served wonderful meals and were taken extremely good care of. Will be back!
Hawaiian fried rice is awesome, vegetarian options are very tasty. My wife loves the Mee Sua. Everything I have tried was good!
Went there today the food was burnt tasting. The restaurant smelled like dead animals and funk.
My food taste horrible and no customer service to fix it.
Restaurant dirty and needs a deep cleaning , dirty smelly restrooms , smelly carpet.
I use to frequent this restaurant all the time but I will never go back!
Delish food, friendly service. homey atmos
Great Pad Thai and spicy basil chicken
The pad Thai noodles were so sticky. And even though i ordered medium spicy there were super sweet. Had to throw away the food. Tasteless.
Food is still good and portion size seems to have shrunk a little! I feel I should've had more veggies. I understand covid is still affecting businesses but it's time to start budgeting to replace the tables and chairs. I know table/chair covers are more work but they would improve the aesthetics, if the new table/chair expense is not in your budget.
We drive from Toledo to eat here. We plan on returning and continuing to support this business.
Food was quick to come and service was good. Pad Thai was very bland and red curry way too salty.
This is the true Thai food style for Red curry rather than American Thai. The price is higher than other Thais. But the lunch time it has one waitress run in n out and made us so uncomfordable.
Awesome food. Good to see them getting very busy. They definitely need more help to take care of customers.
Some of the food is good, but dumplings should NEVER ever come in a plastic sandwich baggie in a styrofoam container. Ridiculous.
I really love the lunch specials here. They are fast and taste great. I wish the probs were just a little bit bigger for the price, but still the best Thai around Ypsilanti area that I’ve found.
Had not had Thai food in decades. Two friends chose the location knowing that I had not had Thai in years. We all ordered from the lunch menu. Food came quickly, very hot, was very tasty, and I enjoyed every bite!
Food is delicious! We ordered a pad Thai and it was amazing… very generous with the meat. Costumer service is amazing… I didn’t drink all the tea and they took the time to ask me why ( I was just full)
Best Thai food in Washtenaw County!
Not only is the food delicious, but the service is phenomenal! The owner of the restaurant is so friendly and invested in ensuring an excellent dining experience for all, the service is quick, and they also went above and beyond to ensure I got my purse back when I accidentally left it there. This is now our new go-to spot for Thai!
Depending on the dish, quantity was inadequate for some dishes. The price on the menu seemed reasonable except when you add 18% mandatory service charge. Ambience is not good but service was fast and good. Food taste was fine but nothing great.
Really good pad see ew
delicious food everytime
Pho was decent but the pad thai was an unmitigated disaster. Service was acceptable. Prices too high for what it delivers.
Food hits the spot! Service is excellent! Owner is so nice! Place is clean!
( sadly, we ate the mango rice so fast I have no pictures will post next time)
I get lunch
I have given them so many chances. I have dined in gotten takenout. always the one bald waiter who is rude to me when I get take out. But a whole different guy when you dine in. Service is extremely slow
Favorite Thai Place!
The lady who served me (owner) wasn't so friendly when I inquired about the menu selections. Dingy atmosphere
But the great food made up or it.
Took my daughters to this restaurant- Ate vegan Basil fried rice and Pad Thai, we all loved it. Also had Tom kha and veg spring roll - highly recommend this place
Something has changed ( including menu), food is no longer what it used to be.
I really only get the tofu pad-thai, but it’s one of the best I’ve had in the area.
My friends and family have been coming here for a number of years and the food, service, and staff have always been excellent. It was a little rough when they had pickup only during COVID, but with thinks back to business as usual, the restaurant is as I've always remembered it. The food was hot, fresh, and extremely flavorful. I had the Pad See Ewe with pork (Med spice) and the others with me had the Pad Thai, which is also a very popular dish there (the sauce is excellent). Would highly recommend, take out is great but dining in allows for the best food experience. My favorite dish is the Pad Thai Curry Noodles. Hope this review helps, enjoy!
Update as of 1/8/2024: I decided to give this place another chance. And oh boy am I mad that I did. I sat there for 20 mins, not one hello or asking if I had an order. The guy kept asking everyone else if they had an order (THAT CAME IN AFTER ME). I never ended up getting my order because I am not waiting over an hour to make $5. These people are so inconsiderate. I feel like they make everyone else’s order before they even attempt to make a delivery order. Every time I’ve went in there it’s like an hour wait. I still stand by my statements of “DO NOT GO HERE” and “I hope this trash place shuts down”
Do not waste your time. DO NOT GO HERE!!! It’s horrible. I’m a delivery driver for DoorDash/Uber/grub hub. They’re always behind on orders and make the ones that aren’t being picked up first. So we have to sit and wait 40+ mins every time for an order. This place needs to be shut down or fix their business. Unacceptable and I do hope this trash place shuts down.
Best Thai food I've had in a long time, definitely recommend to anyone!
Great food. On very busy days, the wait for take out can be longer than the time given when the order will be ready. We usually get the Pad Thai along with Egg Rolls.
Love everything about them. Excellent deal for lunch specials too!
Phenomenal!
I don't know what exactly it is about the Chicken Pad See Ewe but every time I order it from Tuptim it makes my brain very happy! Highly recommend!
Everything is so good. The curries, pad Thai, crispy tofu are delicious. The tapioca pudding is amazing! Don't miss it!
Unable to eat here
Tuptim is the BEST Thai food in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area. Never disappoints.
Delicious pad thai!!!
My favorite Thai restaurant. Good flavors all around. I highly recommend Pad Kee Mau and the Crispy Tilapia and Eggplant dish.
Service and food is the best in town.
10/10 yum. Thai tea, pad thai, basil fried rice. Amazing
Asked for mild and it was definitely very medium. Still delicious but would have been totally enjoyable if mildly spicy. Will definitely come back.
One of my favorite places of all time🥰🥰🥰
The food was bad. Like low-quality frozen food that they reheated, then added some Asian sauces from Walmart on top of it. Really bad.
Food was OK. Cheaper than my regular place.
Very light on vegetables and meat for all meals, I added broccoli to mine but they must of forgot to add it. Definitely disappointed, do better.
Salmon panang slaps
Food is always great. The staff rocks, very attentive, and I always feel welcome. I typically get various curry dishes here, they're all so good. Their Medium+ is just the right amount of spice for me.
The male manager is so rude. Like upsettingly so. I overheard him yelling at someone picking up an order and he yelled at them it made me really uncomfortable and we will not be going back.
I always love this place, hands down the best Thai place around! I crave the chicken wonton and noodle soup when sick because it's so good...warm, comforting, and just so delicious!
Everything they have is!
Delicious food. Reasonably priced. As with all restaurants, recovery from lockdowns has caused some shortages in staffing.
If you’re ordering carry out online, make sure you have your Social Security number ready. They’ll probably ask for that too. But seriously all jokes aside I am an overworked pregnant healthcare worker who just wanted to pick up my order and eat my lunch before my lunch break was over. I told the lady my name and she requested seeing proof of my order so I show her the text message that says that my order was ready and told her I ordered through DoorDash and gave her my first and last name, and she still kept requesting that I go log back into DoorDash and show her my order when the whole point of me ordering it online is so I can go in there and give them my name and walk out, not be harassed to see if it’s actually my order. The food was good but because of the service I will never come back.
Great authentic Thai food
Unfortunately this place has gone downhill in a big way. A few years ago we LOVED it - was probably our favorite takeout. But over maybe the past year it’s gotten rough.
First the good - the basil fried rice is out of this world good.
The less good- I’m pretty sure the portions have gotten substantially smaller, to the point now that most entrees are not enough for one person’s meal. Maybe they were always small, but as they raise prices (like everyone, i get it) the small portions are more galling.
Worst part - The customer service is particularly dreadful now. They’re rude as can be on the phone when you order, almost as if they resent you for calling. I generally don’t do this but I’ve used delivery apps to order pickup just to avoid calling. Oh, plus they dont answer half the time anyways.
And then the food is never ready when it’s supposed to be! Whether you call or us an app to order pickup, you’ll always wait a good ten minutes past when it was supposed to be ready.
It’s a turnstile of delivery drivers in there now so maybe they’ve just optimized towards delivery apps and are not concerned with other customers?
Found a mesh wire in my kid's takeout food and on top of that when we called the place the "Manager/Owner" was rude on being told about the steel wire in it and was dismissive of it. When we told him that we will report it and then he changed the tone and said he can replace it with new one if we bring back the food.
Since they switched to online orders only, they never get the spice level correct.
Wont be ordering anymore. Major bummer.
Have to drive there, walk up to the counter, and berate the staff in order to get your order correct.
Very unpleasant experience
