Comfy establishment serving up classic Thai curries & stir-fries, plus sushi & nigiri.
lovely restaurant. We went during the begining to lunch service with just two other tables in the restaurant occupied. The place is neat and clean. Food options for lunch are good with clear descriptions.
Service is however lacking. From not paying attention to refilling water or asking if anything else was needed.- this place is either short staffed. The staff is friendly however seem to disappear from sight after serving food!.
Please note that the current trend is to show the 18% gratuity in the bill so please do read your bill before you make payment
I had the basil fried rice, which was dry, to be quite honest. I will definitely go back because the service was awesome!! We did enjoy the Drunken Noodles with pork
This place has gone down hill big time. I used to be a frequent visitor years ago and since I moved away I come here once in a while when I am in town on a business trip, and sadly every times I come here it gets worse.
The curry dishes are ok, but I regretfully ordered the pineapple curry and the pineapple chunks were from cans, and not even from a fresh batch. The pineapple is so old, soggy and has the terrible can taste. It didn’t really affect the taste of the dish so I just picked them out. Thailand produces some of the best pineapple in the world, getting old can pineapple in my Thai curry is just not right. The drunken noodle was ok, basic sugar and soy combo and little heavy on the sugar side. The fried rice and other stir fried dishes are not like what they were years ago in both quality and taste.
I also made the mistake of ordering sushi. I have never tried the sushi here but I normally don’t order sushi from a Thai place, nor a Chinese place but maybe a Korean place and there are reasons for that. The sushi rice was not right, bland, too wet. Any trained sushi chef should know that sushi rice has to be cooked with vinegar. Anyway avoid the sushi if you actually care for the taste. I think this is the last time I will ever order from here again.
The food is excellent. I ordered the Tofu Pineapple Rice and a Quart of Hot & Soul Soup. This was enough food to share with my husband.
This was the first time I had a Hot & Sour Soup taste somewhat sweet!!? It was excellent!
The rice dish was very good too!
I walked in to pick up my order and still saw that no one is dining inside yet, (at least there so far).
Normally I get real bloated with Asian Food, but this time I did not! The price was a little on the high side, but compared to other Restaurants with the same type of food, it was basically around the same price. Overall experience - 5 stars.
Got food delivered to my hotel and I’m shocked at how deceived I was by the reviews. This Thai food is terrible. It’s not even fresh. Makes me sad to think that this restaurant is convincing people that this is what Thai food taste like. The tomatoes were literally cut and tossed into the fried rice like it was a taco. Not even Cooked. Horrible food. And didn’t even come with utensils
Got the seafood red curry, probably the best I ever had! Just my preference, would have liked the curry sauce to be a little thicker. With that said, the flavor was fantastic! There was also a very good amount of seafood in the dish.
Excellent place, amazing food with a lot of flavor, good service. We ordered coconut soup I don’t remember very well the name but it was with coconut milk and searching looks similar to Tom yum. Pad Thai no spicy and yellow curry medium spicy. Next time no spicy the curry because my husband couldn’t finish it.
I’m very much disappointed. I ordered mixed seafood drunken noodle; the crab was fake and squid was so tough I couldn’t chew it. Also my noodles were stuck together.

I walked in the restaurant at 7:45 PM -10 c by uber to only learn that I cannot have seat down dinner.
Staff was not only rude but when confronted they started talking about their pay etc.
Owner should take note of it

Excellent Thai food! Just don't order chicken, tastes like it's been in freezer too long. Tofu and Shrimp are great.
Great food, reasonable price. Love it. Best Penang curry around
Best crab rangoons I've ever had. Great food!
They gave me red curry instead of the green curry I ordered :(
Great tempura 🍤 sushi
We had Spring Rolls and Crab Rangoon for appetizers and Yellow Curry and Vegetable Pad Thai as mains. Food was excellent, service was excellent and staff was lovely. Enjoy talking to staff about the time I spent in Thailand some years ago. Will return.

If you want 4 small pieces of shrimp, a half cup of shredded veggies doused in 2 cups of broth for $20 dollars then this is the place for you. Ordered a mild shrimp and vegetable green curry , had to toss it in the trash, I’ve never experienced anything mild burning off any taste buds I may have had , and I’ve ever experienced a place as cheap with their portions as this place. I’m not entirely sure I even received the right order but it doesn’t matter, didn’t taste anything anyway.
Not a good dining experience. Only one server serving the food resulting in long wait . Also the server was quite rude.
I’m not the type to ever write a review but how many times can one mess up? I had an extremely disappointing experience with this place. We ordered catering from here twice, and both times the service was problematic. During our first order, we requested a catering tray of vegan (no egg) and chicken Pad Thai, but they accidentally included egg in the vegan dish. They assured me we would have a credit for the next order. When we placed our second order today, requesting the same items, I arrived at the specified time only to find that the catering order was missing. Instead, there was just a regular individual-sized meal, with no credit applied from last time. This will be our last time ordering from here. Steer clear of this place!
Love the food, always fresh and tastes good. I have not tried sushi at the restaurant yet
Less than average food taste and quality. You will be forced to tip.
one of the best pad Thai I have had!
This restaurant is awful. The service is poor, at best. The staff is incredibly rude and ungrateful.
The food has gone down hill significantly. The girl who answers the phone is terrible at taking orders, which cant be that difficult.
Do you enjoy a quiet restaurant? A quiet restaurant with exceptional food and service? Here's this little gem. It does not disappoint.
I had ordered vegan veggie fries rice and clearly mentioned that im vegan and the served me egg fried rice !!!!!
Please be careful he was blaming me after that !!!
Arrived for lunch. Even was just ok. Soup came with my food. I didn't know it would become the menu didn't say what comes with. Waiter had a language barrier.
Food is usually amazing! Service has gone to nothing. Might as well talk to a wall if your take out order is messed up.
Been one of my favorites for years. Service and atmosphere are great. The food is superb.
30 minutes for a cup of broth and chicken and a side of shrimp...reason: they had a party of 10 plus and couldn't handle it. Needless to say i walked out. And usually I love this place. Do better.
First time trying Thai Basil, and WOW was I impressed the food had so much flavor the spice level was perfect. We ordered Pad Thai curry and Thai fried rice honestly the best Thai food I have had in a while. Definitely recommend and will be going back.
Just the way I like it.
I would give a 0 star if possible.
Have been a regular customer coming here around 4-5 times a month for the past 3 years. me and my family always get the same thing, which costs us around $65 dollars. We leave a tip whenever we deem it necessary which is 99% of the time. However we went in today, and they told us to leave and that we are only allowed to carry out and not dine in because we had not tipped the employee enough the last time we dined in. First of all. TIPS are not MANDATORY, never are, and never will be. I do not have to tip anyone if i choose not too. Just because you come with my food once, doesnt mean you deserve a 15% tip. If I were to go to a mexican resteraunt, I will gladly tip as they deserve it because they come in and out with food and are working hard. Secondly, i have always tipped 15-20% of my order whenever i come. So when I asked for a reciept to show where I had not tipped, they could not provide me with one. They could also not provide me with any manager, or any name. They had showed me no evidence of any wrongdoing. Terrible, terrible service, very rude and I will not be dinning in or ordering at this resteraunt ever again over a stupid tipping issue when all you guys do is come out with the food once. Why are you so sad and mad that i did not tip, atp let me give you 50% of my food cost. I hope the owner sees this and replies to me to show me some type of proof as I would love to know if i did anything wrong.
The rice soup is so Yummy
Omg I had to take some home
The manager of this restaurant was very discourteous and rude. She was pushing us to order and then pay while we were still eating.
Removed the menus from the table even before we could order .will not recommend this place to anyone
Fabulous food, amazing sushi, first rate service (ask for Bow)
Service and food was great, although the staff felt the need to vacuum the floors, drowning out our conversation at our table.
Great chill place for authentic fresh Thai. They are usually pretty busy at lunch time but always get my food fresh and quickly
My wife and I used to go here 1-2 times a month pre 2020. Tried it a few times since and every time has been awful. Panang curry has been watery and bland, beef tastes like its been frozen and is grainy. Went yesterday to try one more time since it's been a year, this was the last time. Wife got food poisoning from the chicken, curry was still like water. So sad to see my favorite restruaunt go so downhill.
Great food
Very bad customer service, I just asked for a good red curry and they literally denied me and said they have other customers to attend . I will never recommend this to anyone .
Not the place for sushi, did not taste fresh. Tasted pre-made.
Need to cut back on the amount of oil to cook noodles. There was a puddle of oil on my plate.
This place used to be so good. Now it’s just mediocre. Taste of the food is good but the portions are so small compared to what they were before. Barely any veggies in my veggie dish even with ordering with extra veggies and being charged for them.
Great experience
Worst curry fried rice I ever had. Completely bland, no taste and salt at all. Wish I could give zero stars. Never trying any other dishes. Not an authentic Thai place. If you are a genuine Thai food lover, please do not try.
Excellent food and service, sushi was great and the Curry was some of the best Thai Curry I've ever had. Definitely will be back
Great food, Tom Yum was the best I’ve had
December 2023: I feel like there's been a change in management. We didn't get an included soup with lunch and generally feels like the quality is lower. Atmosphere and music choices have also changed.
Old review: I've been enjoying meeting people here for lunch for years. They serve a soup and have a lunch menu option for about $10 each. Service is kind and place is efficient. Never had any problems with my order.
awful service. No attempt to resolve a bad experience. Will not return.
Ordered takeout at the counter, and they got me out the door really fast. And the food was great, as always.
I had hot tea, sweet and sour soup and chicken pad thai. The sweet and sour soup was okay ive had better. It wasnt bad just disappointing. But my other two items were bad. The tea tasted like soap, and the noodles were so chewy, it was so difficult to chew and the chicken tasted like chlorine, i couldn’t even try to eat it. I was dining on my own and didn’t have the courage to send it back but i would have had a more satisfying dinner if i had heated up some frozen pizza at home
Sushi rice was mush, papaya salad wasn’t fresh, the food was pretty meh, which is disappointing because we’ve been coming for years
This is a cute , clean place. The food is good, we ordered the chicken satay, veggie tempura, basil fried rice, pineapple curry, Par Thai curry and tofu veggie delight. We enjoyed every single
dish. It had been a very long time since I’ve been able to say I’ve enjoyed everything I ordered. I will say if you can’t handle spice , order very light spice. I love spicy food so I got medium.
friendly good service :)
タイ料理なのにSushi?店構えと食器は中華料理店の様、アジアをごちゃ混ぜした無国籍風レストラン。
食事はボリュームがあって美味しいのですが、気分的にタイ料理を食べていると感じられないのが残念。
Great service and delicious food - I recommend the sushis!
This is probably the best Thai food restaurant in the area. Portion is good but most important thing is taste. Amazing soups and house made curry is awesome.
I ordered my yellow curry mild.
It came so incredibly hot, that I couldn't stop coughing.
Then when our table were finnishing up our meals. This stong oder of cleaner filled the dining room. It ruined everything. I said something to the people who worked there.
They replied, "Well we were
cleaning.
What a waist of money and time.
Food is great.
Ordered shrimp with scallops pad thai take out for lunch. The flavor was good, a bit oily and very little protein for the price.
Red curry taste like water.
The crab ragoons barely had any crab. They are like the La Croix of crab ragoons, I am disappointed
Worst experience ever.. they completely forgot to provide water for us even though we requested
After that the glass of water contains DEAD FLY in it. The soup bowls were dirty and was not cleaned …waitress was very rude
Food was bad but the service was good.
I ordered Tom kha soup and spring rolls my spring rolls came out undercooked and cold in the middle but my Tom kha was very chunky and ful of vegetables and chicken
Delicious broth....I would order again but just as typical Thai restaurants no one uses traditional ingredients such as shiitake mushrooms and some far and few between May venture out as far as using lemongrass as well
Great Thai food!
Reliable thai standards.
Definitely some of the best Thai food out there.
Tastes even more bland than it looks…I ordered spicy sushi combo to go and the only flavor I can make out in this “spicy” salmon roll is the vinegar in the rice. The “spicy” mayo taste like Hellmans right out the jar (gross)…there is absolutely NO flavor in this sushi…I tried to use the wasabi to create the illusion of some type of flavor but they only give you enough for maybe 3 pieces. The ingredients do seem to be of great quality. The rolls are a little rice heavy, but that’s just my personal subjective opinion. However, objectively, this dish has 0 flavor!!!
I’m conclusion 2 stars for quality 0 stars for flavor.
Food is 4 stars or greater except for sushi see below.
6/17/2023 - to go sushi rice just was not right -0 stars. Fish was fine but will not be getting sushi here again. Thai food is still good.
6/16/2023 - 4 stars dine in
Chicken satay appetizer very good with great peanut sauce. Pad Thai was fine, smaller portion then I recall.
Year ago 2022- 5 stars Great as always. Love their food and have visited often always coming back for Thai. I have had their Pad Thai, Curry dishes, King chicken dinner, etc. House peanut sauce is amazing so get Chicken Satay as well. Love their food. FYI medium spice is hot elsewhere, yet I do not mind due to liking spicy food. They serve sushi as well, have never tried it yet but other people in my party last week raved about it. Full bar, bottled beer and wine are a plus as well.
Excellent thai and sushi. Great service
Food was great. Service could have been better
Took my family for a special occasion. Ordered all veggie meals, green tea, and someone asked for a hot water. We asked multiple times for no eggs or meat we were assured there would be none. Food came out and the pad thai had egg in it. We all had some before we realized. Asked to send it back for one without egg. She comes back ten minutes later with the pad thai. We continue to eat till I realize this pad thai has chicken in it. We cancel the pad thai, green tea still hasn't came out because she forgot about so we cancel that, hot water still hasn't came either and this was near the end of our meal. We brought a cake because it was suppose to be a happy occasion so we just pack it up and decide not to do it here. We came in excited to celebrate a happy occasion and we left disappointed, and a whole table full of vegetarians that have not eaten meat in years and years due to our own beliefs to all have eaten meat. Very very disappointed, disgusted, and saddened at our experience. May was our server and mistakes happen but 4 different mistakes and 2 of those morally messing with us. You can do better and put in a little effort. Never going back.
Livonia never fails to disappoint in terms of mediocre food. If you're going to go anywhere in the city, this isn't bad though.
Ordered 4 pad Thai and it was white, had no flavor and it was horrible. They said they would remake it for us and to head back with our order. They just recooked our food. We've gotten carry out many times and this was by far the worst! Just go somewhere else for consistency and flavor.
Pad Thai
Taste: 4/10
It didn't taste bad, but was highly Americanized. Light sauce, very sweet.
Portion: 9/10
Very good portion for what you pay
Food Quality: 7/10
Fresh ingredients neither overcooked nor undercooked. Perhaps a little heavy on noodles, light on egg.
Heat: 1/10
I asked for Medium-Hot. I could barely notice any heat.
Service: 10/10
Prompt service at counter for pickup. Efficient order over phone. Food was ready and hot when picked up.
excessive msg, excessive sugar to fight the salt from msg. this restaurant is not good for you. they need to learn to cook right.
Updating my previous post from 3 three years ago. Lately my food has not been great. I don't think I will be ordering for awhile. Today I ordered curry pad thai and my noodles were severely over cooked an mushy. My last few orders have been mediocre at best from under cooked rice, to pad thai that lacked flavor.
The worst Thai Basil restraunt ever! Plz don't go here pick a novi location you will get better food.
It was an early dinner for 2. Only 1 other table was occupied.
I ordered chicken drunken noodles add shrimp and mushrooms with medium spice. It came out mild. I also was charged for chicken, shrimp and mushrooms differently than menu noted.
I drive from Telegraph and 7 Mile in Detroit to this location on Newburgh and 6 Mile because my wife enjoys their drunken noodles. I always get a vegetable sushi dish and always ask to use the bottles of soy sauce instead of the little packets because they are never enough, plus they sometimes give 2 or 3 separate brands of soy sauce packets. The gentleman told me that the soy sauce bottles are at the tables and are only for in dining patrons. However, since the cost of the sushi I got is the same for in dining and take out I am confused, other than he just did not want to make the walk. I'll be getting my sushi from somewhere else going forward.
Had some crispy spring rolls!! Fried rice and yellow curry was good too.
Super.
I always love their food.
Very affordable, really great staff, very tasty. Chicken and rice soup was seasoned to perfection, Crab Rangoon wasn’t my fave as it was filo…but that’s a preference. Green curry was excellent.
No sushi on Monday.
The food is excellent.
Food was good. Iced tea not brewed
Food is always delicious, staff is friendly and food is out quickly. Will continue to be a regular!
The place was cozy. The food tasted almost the same as the food I had in Thailand. The portion served was big. It was rich with seafood and vegetables. I'll definitely go back there
The cucumber sauce with the chicken satay here might be the best I've tried yet. I also had the drunken noodles with chicken and medium spice, and for me that was a circus of harmonious flavor. The spice flowed really well into the more savory side of the curry, vegetables, and chicken, and into a slightly sweet note. Very highly recommended.
Great place to grab some good Thai food
Not very good Thai. Devoid of the usual flavor of coconut milk, and the seasoning was amateurishly applied - “clumping” in the sauce and obviously added too late in the process to maturate.
I’m also unclear as to why they ask how spicy you want your food when mild and medium presented exactly the same. Maybe a new cook?
Shrimp rolls were good. There’s that.
Nice looking restaurant. Staff is friendly.
Thai Basil is not on my avoid list - I’ve had worse. MUCH worse - but I don’t think I’ll be back. Sorry Thai Basil. I really wanted to love you.
The food was amazing and they got it out to us in under 10 minutes. I would absolutely recommend this place.
Their yellow curry is the best I’ve ever had!
I think there are new owners noticed some slight changes
This is always our favorite Thai restaurant. Last night the pineapple curry with chicken was basically sauce with a few pieces of chicken/vegetables. The pork drunken noodles had 4 pieces of pork. Flavor was good and I understand the price increase. But when quality goes down it’s time for a change.
I usually only try the Thai fried rice. It was not the best Thai fried rice that I've had, but it was pretty decent and a deceny portion. The place was comfortable and nice to be in.
This is probably my favorite restaurant for lunch when I'm at the office. My orders are consistently good. Service is always fast. The lunch menu is very well priced.
Nice ambiance, great service, a bit over priced for upscale bar food;."
This was our first time ordering from here. We Ordered from doordash 3 meals, they were so small.. paid 2.00 extra for shrimp and there were literally only 7 small shrimp. The amount of food in each was so small, the meat was not enough and truthfully the flavor was mediocre. Extremely disappointed and will not order from here again. Do better..
Just had one of the worst meals of my life. Soup had a film on it and was GROSS...bitter and muddled. Overcooked rice that was mushed into one large mass. Sauce was inedible for entree. Never again.
Staff was awesome, food was pretty good.
Great food, always hot and fresh. Have to get the spring rolls
Great food, like the Thai Basil in Novi. Pad Thai, Pad See Ew and Crab Rangoon are favorites. Carryout is amazingly fast, no need to order ahead. Highly recommended.
To me, five-star Thai cuisine shines in both its vibrant flavor profiles and plate presentations. Thai basil delivers acceptably on taste, but its ho-hum platters of basics bring down the rating a bit. Granted, our group ordered a fried food fest for appetizers: Crab Rangoon, crunchy spring rolls, and firecracker sushi. Still, it's all brown paper bag packaging. Sigh. My seafood salad was a bit of a letdown, too: A handful of plump, medium sea scallops schooling with a duo of poached shrimp and an unravelling smattering of "Krab." Dumped on a bed of iceberg, and scented with a sprig or two of cilantro and blackened, chopped basil, I ate it with the same enthusiasm I have for grocery store grab-'n-go. Sweetheart's chicken watchamacallit came drowned in what could have passed for red enchilada sauce. Maybe we'll roll the considerable leftovers in corn tortillas tonight and give it a second chance. Meh. Thai Basil gets three stars for perky, pleasant service and a menu that's enough to fill a famished Thai lover's wish list, but it's fairly listless in its execution.
Excellent food, beautiful and friendly waitresses and they offer a bar too. A bit expensive, but really worth it. Just try it!
Loved it as always my favorite go to Thai restaurant
Great food good service
The food and service were great but if you can't handle heat, don't get medium or higher.
This place has some Great stir fry. The Chashew and Vegetable one are my favorites. The glass noodles soup is good and coconut custard.
I'm done with this place. Way too inconsistent. When it's good it's great, which is why I've kept trying and I'm also addicted to their shrimp rolls. But when it's not good, it's virtually inedible and the other day was another example. I usually get the Pad Thai and I'd switched to shrimp because the chicken was bad a couple of times. But I tried it with chicken again the other day and it was awful. HOW HARD IS IT TO KEEP AND USE FRESH CHICKEN THAT DOES NOT TASTE LIKE IT'S 2 WEEKS OLD? Well apparently it's impossible for the folks at Thai Basil - Livonia. If you eat there steer clear of the chicken, but that was 1 time too many and they've lost a customer.
These days the quality and taste is not expected as it was before.
The waitresses worked hard but they were way understaffed and food was not prepared as asked. We didn't want to complain as they were so overworked.
Picked up lunch for a shut in son. He and I both love Thai Basil!
Back again today. Had the pad Thai, excellent?
I ordered take out. The guy just hands me my food after paying without saying thank you. I didn't enjoy my food at all. The food was not tasty. Waste of money.
Food was good....but the decor and furnishings seemed a bit dingy.
pretty solid thai. srir fry and sushi was good
Food is always delightfully tasty!
My order was perfect, everything arrived relatively fast despite the lunch rush filling the place up. Really nice staff.
Ok
Food was fantastic and they had decent selection of imported beers. We ordered Tom Kha, a couple sushi rolls, green curry and pad thai. I would go back in a heartbeat
Chicken Fried rice awesome
Great
Always great food. Our favorite Thai here in Detroit so far!
Best Thai restaurant around! Great and fast service every single time!
Place was fire! Quick and filling. Staff was friendly and straight to the point; “we close at 8:30, so your gonna need to leave by then”. Lol. Respect the honesty these over worked employees had. Crab Rangoons were very good!
We placed a $110 take out order. There was some confusion on one of the items when we got there. They assured everything was good. After we drove back 25 minutes it turned out it wasn't in there. We called and asked for a refund. They said if we wanted a refund on the one item they wanted us to drive the entire order back and return it since they don't do partial refunds. We're talking about a $4 item they forgot. Otherwise they wanted me to drive 40 minutes round trip for it.
I declined and said I'd just dispute it.
As far as the food goes. It was average at best. The spicy rolls had no spice. The wasabi appeared to be fake. I'll not be ordering from them again.
Love the Pad Thai and friendly service!
Loved it.
Great Food and Service and Carry Out
Great Thai food !!! We had pad thai and it was so good !!!
I've been eating here for better than 15 years. Always great service and food.
Good service, overall nice experience. Affordable and tasty food!
Excellent food and service 👍
Great food and service, we plan on going here again when I have to come down for a doctor's appt.
Good ambiance and quick service...value for money
Super disappointed. I ordered the shrimp spring rolls. Expected shrimp, green onion, cabbage, etc.. like what u would get in a spring roll. I received a slice of shrimp rolled in a wonton wrapper and deep fried... I spent 13.00 on that. What a joke. The dipping sauce was good tho.
Very flavorful, love the cucumber sauce
I eat here once a week. Your Cashew Pad Thai Chicken is very good.
Nice calm atmosphere, big menu to choose from and service is always very good! Food is quickly made and excellent. I always get either drunken noodles or pad thai and sushi to share. Their soups and drinks are good as well! Definitely a regular spot of mine.
