This place always hits it out the park. They have such a large expansive menu there is something for everyone. Two of us had Pho Ga which is basically amazing chicken noodle soup. Totally homemade tasting. The others ordered Thai style pan fried dishes and of course we got Korean style fried chicken for the table. They also have a great beer list of Chinese, Japanese, Korean , Thai and I think Vietnamese beer. Great spot.

Bad service

Diner Review №3

Seriously incredible food. Great vegetarian options. Highly recommended

Diner Review №4

Ingredients used are not fresh; the bean sprouts for my pho were slimy.
Look elsewhere for good pho

Best fried chicken wings in the area. Both flavors - garlic or crazy (spicy) - are amazing.

The rest of their menu has also been solid - duck curry, pho dac biet, etc. but the fried chicken is the star of the show for me.

Diner Review №12

We have ordered from Pho 1 before and been happy with the food. However, this evening, we did takeout with four dishes and not one of them was worth eating! (1) Two of the dishes were tasteless, as if they forgot to season them. Chicken in one dish was seasoned badly and another dish appeared to have been not seasoned at all. (2) Pho ! must be trying to cut costs. Noodles are cheap to buy, protein and veggies are much more costly. Our dishes were all overloaded with noodles, with very little protein or veggies. Big disappointment.

Diner Review №13

Diner Review №14

Pad Thai was awful.

Diner Review №15

Okay. It is a big-portion restaurant—quantity over quality. It is not particularly Vietnamese, but if you are very hungry, it might do the trick. If you would say McDonald's or this, maybe this.

Diner Review №16

Diner Review №17

This is a great place for pho. I tried different types of pho here and every one of them tasted amazing. Their service is great as well. They have Thai curries as well. The price was reasonable. They had a wide variety of vegetarian options.

Diner Review №18

I travel for work and love trying pho wherever I go. Got the Dac Biet in a large size and the amount of meat I got was surprisingly good! I really love tripe and got a good amount of it so props for that. The other proteins were a great amount too, we'll balanced.
Amount of veggies I would say is good, there were no jalapeños.
The broth on its own is decent, but not overly powerful and spiced like I am used to, it seems to be missing some of that star anise type flavor to it and almost is borderline chicken broth so it didn't excite me too much.
Other downside is that there is no chili oil, only hoisin and a Sriracha sauce which isn't the same.
Also got the chao Tom which was really good, a fishy sponge like snack, though I was expecting it to be wrapped around sugar cane and it was not, there were 2 cane's just on the side which was a tad disappointing.
Overall great amount of food itself, but broth wasn't too exciting and the app let me down a little (still really great tasting though).

Diner Review №19

The waitress was rude as nasty. The pho bac diet, was super bland. I informed the waitress and she stated, what can she do for me!? The shrimp summer roll had a HALF of a 🍤 and majority was lettuce! Do not wate your time going! She stated she is not comfortable with me returning because I gave my genuine opinion....

Diner Review №20

Please don’t cheap out on the noodle portion on the pho. Noodle itself is cheap and don’t lose a customer because of it. Increase the portion size

Diner Review №21

Food was good. Bad experience, terrible, after years of coming here. Large party. 3 people got the food right away. The rest of the party had to wait between 45 minutes to an hour and 10 minutes AFTER THESE HAD FINISHED! to get their order! The children’s food didn’t come out until everyone else had finished and was ready to go! No explanations, no discount in the bill. It was bad. If there had been any acknowledgment or even a kind word maybe it would have made a difference. But a dinner out so we all could have a break turned into a really stress filled event.

Diner Review №22

Delicious pho!

Diner Review №23

Food tastes great
nice balance between the spices and sauce used
Recommend the buldok chicken lunchbox

Quantity of chicken is ample and filling, has room for improvement with the quantity of rice offered as opposed to the price of the dish.

Diner Review №24

Fantastic food! Loved it !

Diner Review №25

This is the best Vietnamese restaurant in the area! Try the sour soup, pho, rice paper works. All of these are amazing. I go here every time I’m in Waltham. The decor is dated, but the food and service are fantastic.

Their food is good, especially the eggplant seafood salad. I love it so much, but I’ll have to remember to order it only when dining in (fried eggplant got soggy). It’s also nice how they have such an extensive menu.

Diner Review №30

Diner Review №31

The fried egg rolls were bad. The filling tasted sour, like it was “turning” bad but the fried shell was crunchy and ok not to much filling so it offset bad taste a bit

The fried chicken with garlic sauce was 4 stars with not enough sauce. Sauce was ok when it’s lightly applied but not very good if more. Usually I like it when the sauce is so good you want to drown it. Not in this case it was ok

FF was excellent coated with flour extra crispy 4.5 stars

Pho dac biet was 3.5-4 stars

Diner Review №38

This place is sweet, the food is good, the menu is very large, and the staff is so so friendly.

Diner Review №39

Not fancy. Just very good food and service in a vibrant neighborhood. There is a good ice cream store across the street.

Diner Review №40

Came right when they opened for dinner, very quiet at that time! Nice bathrooms and very tasty food! Food came out quick and hot 🔥

Diner Review №41

Their lime and cilantro chili rice noodle salad with ground pork is fabulous, & the service is polite & attentive. A huge variety of Vietnamese dishes to choose from - from 11:00 a.m until closing. Canh Chua hot & sour soup is also excellent.

Moody Street seems to be littered with Vietnamese / Thai Restaurants .. And I've tried practically all of them ..

Considering price, menu options and food quality, this Thai restaurant really takes the (fish) cake.

The staff is kind, courteous and accommodating as well 😀

Like its name says, it truly is Pho (#) 1 ..

So if you find yourself anywhere near Moody Street and you're craving Vietnamese / Thai food, this is the restaurant you NEED to go to ..

Pho 1 is MOST DEFINITELY a DO NOT MISS!! :-)

Diner Review №51

Diner Review №52

This place has gone down in quality of food, atmosphere and service, but they increased the prices and if you dont tip them enough, they bring the check back and ask for a 18% tip. Tipping is optional and up to the guest, it is not like we are getting the food for free. College kids cannot afford to tip as much and they should not ask for it, they will only loose customers.

Diner Review №53

The single greatest chicken wings in existence on planet earth do not get it twisted the pho 1 waltham wings are BANGIN off the chain youre literally insane if you are not on the wave also they have pretty good fries and spring rolls im sure their other food is good too but ive never had it since im always tryna get those WINGS get the crazy wings

Diner Review №54

Diner Review №56

Some of the worst “Korean Fried Wings” I’ve ever had. Extremely soggy and kinda ruined my night because I fasted all day and this was my only meal for the day. This is only a review of their wings I haven’t had anything else on the menu and the service was fine. Just don’t buy the Korean fried chicken because it’s soggy and if you’ve had good Korean fried chicken before this place will absolutely disappoint.

Diner Review №57

Good portion and reasonable price! As a Vietnamese, I’d say the food is around 80% authentic, haven’t tried the Pho yet, only the vermicelli dishes and they were pretty good

Diner Review №58

Great food with and so many options! Their whole fish dish (can’t remember the name) was delicious and we do come back for vermicelli and pho 🍜 definitely one of the better Vietnamese spots around

I had lunch special C3. The crispy spring rolls are delicious. Everyone in our party was 100% satisfied and will come back.

Diner Review №66

Excellent food.

Diner Review №67

Ordered via Uber eats. Very poor quality. Threw out lots of it

Diner Review №68

Was very disappointed with my curry dish. I was very excited for curry especially my favorite part being the potatoes. I guess they subbed the potatoes for tomatoes? I would have ordered something else if I had known this. The carrots were also pretty hard and crunchy.

Diner Review №69

Portions could be bigger, but food was delicious and reasonably priced.

Diner Review №70

Good price, and nice food.
I only tried Pho there and wings(for got what other dishes I ordered), and I advise you just try it. The other asian foods on the menu, I won't say it's not good, but don't expect it to be too authentic.

Diner Review №71

Diner Review №72

It’s ok, nothing special. However the banh mi came with a ton of meat unlike the dac biet which was kind of lacking in protein. The soup had good flavor though.

Diner Review №73

The food is good but the place could really use a facelift ior at least a thorough clean up.

Diner Review №74

Diner Review №75

Good choice for a refreshing bland meal. Noodle soup helps with hydration during gaming sessions in the nearby arcade.

Diner Review №76

Diner Review №77

Pho was so good!!

Diner Review №78

Awful service. I picked some food up for takeout and no one could be bothered to help me. Meanwhile the two waitresses are busy talking to themselves. Go somewhere else.

Diner Review №79

Diner Review №80

Such nice people serving amazing food. We visit anytime we need lunch while visiting auntie.

Diner Review №81

Food isn't that great of a quality. For example, scallops in noodle soup are almost transparent and taste like dead seafood. Not enough meat in noodles either

Diner Review №82

Diner Review №83

Amazing food and great service

Diner Review №84

Comfortable seating, friendly service and amazing food. The portion to price ratio is something phenomenal, I recommend getting the medium pho if you go to see if that is enough because medium is large and large is HUGE.

Diner Review №85

Good pho

Diner Review №86

It is one of my regular restaurants for noodle soup. Broth is thick and delicious. Portion is also satisfactory. Recommend Dac viet if you like multiple types of meat in it. Some parkings are available on the street by chance. But highly recommend using one of the public parking lots. One on Walnut st is easy.

Diner Review №87

Diner Review №88

Inedible, tasteless and food arrived in disarray. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Diner Review №89

Dac biet is awesome!!

Diner Review №90

Diner Review №91

Great pho, but big menu for any Vietnamese dish you may want.

Diner Review №92

It was probably the worst pho That I have ever tasted with so much fat in the chicken, tasted like scraps off the carcass. The broth had no flavor and tasted like it had absolutely no care put into it. The service was terrible it took forever to get food I mean I could have probably walked to the end of moody street and back with the time we took to get food. and when we complained about the chicken being fatty they just gave us more fatty under cooked chicken. If I could give this place a 0 star I would. My mother had the same thing and she felt the same exact way about it. If you want good pho soup.....just go elsewhere. Trust me, It was so bad I couldn't even finish a quarter of it, And for me that says something because I always finish even the worst food that I eat.

Diner Review №96

BEST WINGS FOR REAL!!!

Diner Review №97

Diner Review №98

Diner Review №99

Excellent food and consistent quality. Service is always good too.

Diner Review №100

Excellent take out food.

Diner Review №101

Diner Review №102

I was really disappointed in the pho dac biet that I got. I order this dish at every pho restaurant the first time I go there and this was by far the saddest one of all the Boston pho restaurants that I've tried.
The beef was not rare but rather came overcooked. Overall there were very few toppings, no jalapeno, and the broth was just ok (pretty mild).

My boyfriend got the seafood pho and he really liked it.

Picture attached shows what the pho looked like as soon as it came out.
I did find the waiter to be very polite and the outdoor seating was very pleasant.

The thing on the menu #47 is pretty far from Pho... I mentioned exactly that to a waitress but was charged anyway. Good luck with Pho there.

Diner Review №111

Diner Review №112

Daughter and I were craving Vietnamese pho and banh xeo. Pho 1 unfortunately didn't satisfy our cravings. We decided to share a large bowl of chicken pho which was enormous. Would have been great had the pho been good, but the broth looked like water, was bland, and the chicken was pretty awful with discards of fat and skin. We barely ate any of it and left the rest. Banh xeo was ok but a little too thick and overcooked. I remember this place being better in the past. Maybe try Pho & Spice next time in Waltham.

Diner Review №113

Great pho and fried chicken, consistent and good price as well

Diner Review №119

The yellow curry here was amazing, and our whole family loved what they had. Highly recommend!

Diner Review №120

Food was amazing!! First time here and we all enjoyed our dishes!! So friendly and welcoming!! We will definitely be regulars here!!

Diner Review №121

Everything is just full of flavor. Everything is really authentic and there are an abundance of alternative options for people who don’t like pho. Definitely try the Bibimbap!!!

Diner Review №122

Love going here for take out or for a quick dinner, food is always excellent and super quick! Prices are amazing too and portion are big

Diner Review №129

Diner Review №130

Went with friends, and recommend getting a reservation. It is very popular amount students nearby, so it gets pretty busy on the weekends (Friday and Saturday especially). The food is usually pretty good, however it takes a bit of time to get - we had to remind the waiter because it had been quite a while. Also, the soup was a little flavorless and the spices was lacking. It was a bit disappointing. I would try it again, but be wary.

Diner Review №131

Just your average pho place. I got the Spicy Pad Thai Seafood, and it was not fresh and had no flavors. Pho was pretty good

Diner Review №132

They are very slowly

Diner Review №133

Good food

Diner Review №134

We waited too long for the order, first they sat us down and for 20 minutes no one came up and took the order. After 20 minutes they took it and then disappeared again for 30 minutes! This is too long, the hall was not full. But surprises waited further,
We ordered Seafood Tom Yum and Mi Hai San/ Hu Tieu Hai San

In Tom Yan were mussels and they are stones in the mussels themselves and you can not see them until you start chewing. I almost broke my teeth.

Have been here more than once, this was the last time! It was not good, long and hair in the dishes. Terrible

Diner Review №135

Went there for dinner last week. Had the tom yum seafood noodle soup. It was amazing! One of the best noodle soup I have ever had in my life! Could not get enough of it! Thumbs up for me, will definitely go back soon! Please try this when you go there.

Diner Review №136

Waiting for long time plese do not order here for online ubereats doordash or Grubhub d not respect driver 🙏

Diner Review №137

The food was ok, nothing to be excited about. The large bowl of Pho seemed to be a medium in reality. For taste, it was eh. The amount of the beef and noodles was minimal and it was enough to fill, but not satisfy. We had 4 people and we sort of agreed that we wouldn't really go back.

Diner Review №138

Diner Review №139

When I went with 2 other adults (3 adults total), 1 (4yo) child, and an infant.. we found hair in our squid (they replaced it). We ordered only 3 lunch entrees and charged us a gratuity because she said there was 5 people??!! 3 adults and 2 childrw
that did not order anything. Mind you, she didn't take our order for at least 25 minutes. So 80 bucks turned out to be 101.

Diner Review №140

Diner Review №141

very yummy pho & had great vegetarian options. Wait wasn't long at all.

Diner Review №142

I’m a Viet from Dorchester and I can tell you that this place sucks. Food is of low quality and I can tell that they are old and they used leftovers.

Here's the items that I ordered:

- Large special pho. The bowl is consistent with the large size pho, but it was filled with soup and a little bit of noodles. The noodle portion was consistent of a small pho bowl. The meat was all crushed, separated and tasted old, indicating that it was leftover meat. What was so sad was the plate of vegetables that they gave me for my pho. They gave me only one basil stem consisting of about 4 tiny basil leaves and a few bean sprouts. The one tiny piece of lime was so old that only 2 drops of juice came from it.

- Steamed dumplings: Flavorless and tasted like it was frozen, stuffed into a microwave, and then served to us.

- Vermicelli noodles with grilled beef: The beef was so old that it tasted like it’s been sitting out for 2 days. It was so bad that I ate only half of my plate.

- Avocado smoothie: I know how to make avocado smoothies and I can tell you that they used 1/10 of an avocado to make this smoothie. I can only taste milk, ice, and sugar. The boba was hard as a rock.

- Vietnamese iced coffee: Coffee tasted nothing like Vietnamese coffee. The boba was hard as a rock.

- Fried chicken wings: This was the only item that was good. The skin was crunchy and inside was soft. The flavor was very good.

The bill came out to $80 for 2 adults. This price would definitely be justified if the food was good. The food overall was so bad that I wouldn't eat here if it was free.

It should be noted that this is a Chinese owned restaurant representing Vietnamese cuisine. If you want authentic Vietnamese cuisine, go to one that is Vietnamese owned.

Very good Pho. The appetizers didn’t seem to be from scratch, but they were still very good.

We go there weekly, and love the food. The reason I took one star off is that they really need to have more staff. We always need to wait a while during busy hours to be seated because the place is short of staff.

Diner Review №159

Tried the korean style chicken. It was very crispy and surprisingly more spicy. Pho is ok

Diner Review №160

I lived in thailand for many years. This is Best and most aunthentic thai/ Vietnamese food in the area!!!! Price is reasonable, portion is good. Taste is amazing!

Diner Review №161

Chicken over rice plate was very good, sparkling lemonade tasted really good and was refreshing!

Diner Review №162

Super friendly helpful staff and public restrooms

Diner Review №163

Was very nice. Food was delicious and wait times were very short.

Diner Review №164

The food was amazing and staff attentive

Diner Review №165

I bought Tom yum soup to treat My stomach and omg it worked. I slept like a baby. I woke up and drank some more. This is the spot and Tom yum soup is the deal above all deals

Diner Review №166

Either they are getting better at Pho or others are going downhill. Very nice bowl. Still, the fried chicken is top notch.

Diner Review №167

Diner Review №168

Put in a small order on doordash for 2 fresh summer rolls. One vegetarian and one shrimp. I get to the place at the recommended pick up time and they tell me it's still not ready. It's a simple order but no problem, I can wait a couple more minutes. 20 mins go by and I ask them what's going and they start looking for the order and realize the lost it. So the order was never put in. She writes my order down and sends it back to kitchen. I had to wait another 20 minutes to get 2 rolls. So I had to wait 45mins at this restaurants to get an order that should have already been ready when I got there. The best part is when I got home, the gave me one shrimp roll and one pork roll, and not the vegetarian roll I ordered. I've gone picked up and dined at this place a few times now and while the food is decent, the service is horrible. If you dine in, be prepared for the long wait time.

Diner Review №169

Great fried chicken!

Diner Review №170

Diner Review №171

Enjoyed the food. Nice packaging.

Diner Review №172

Pho is very nice flavor and good portion. what surprises me is their fried chicken is outstanding.

if you are looking for crispy and good size wings try their chicken wings, I prefer no sauce, they marinate it before frying so and it’s already delicious enough and no sauce keeps the crust even crispier.

Dining environment is Ok and could use some renovations, I mostly order takeouts and it’s always well packaged too.

Rarely I got not fresh basil and bean sprouts for Pho when dine in, but I did, so giving four stars.

Diner Review №173

Clear pho soup, very nice!

Diner Review №174

Diner Review №175

Eggplant dish was top notch, and great 5hat they have outdoor dining with shade and great service!

Diner Review №176

Pho is very good.

Diner Review №177

excellent quality! pleasant on street seating. love this place.

Diner Review №178

It used to be my one of my favorite pho place.
But today, as usual I order Pho sate and my mom also ordered same one. My mom found a HUGE BUG in her pho. so I end up saying "im not paying all the food I order. So disgusting." Server said they make each broth individual, but my pho also had bug's feelers and one lag, which I thought it was hair.
So DISAPPOINTED at the server's excuses because she told me that i still have to pay for it.
End up calling manager.
MAKE SURE BEFORE YOU TAKE ONE BITE, CHECK IF THERE IS ANY EXTRA PROTEIN IN YOUR BROTH. 😅😑

Diner Review №179

Vietnamese foods here are so-so, but the Thai foods are really good, eg seafood salad, double fried chicken, fish cake etc...

Diner Review №180

Good food, nice servers and always busy at this place. Had lunch special with a soup and choice of two appetizers included.

Diner Review №181

Diner Review №182

EXTREMELY RUDE!!! Ordered takeout for my 4 year old and I. When I arrived to pick up my son said that he was really hungry; I asked the attendant if I can have some cutlery to eat a little bit on the outside tables which were empty. He said that everything should be inside the bag and I sat down in the sitting area outside and started eating. The same attendant interrupted our meal and asked up to go because we had ordered take out. I asked for an explanation because the sitting area was completely empty, I was eating food from the restaurant, I was not occupying any personnel and my 4year old was very hungry. I even offered $15 -$20 to stay and asked what it would take for us to stay; the attendant insisted that supposedly the manager said because it was take out we had to leave therefore we did.

A nice small family owned place right in the heart of Waltham on Moody st. Friendly stafff and clean. I got the Bun Tom Thit Cha Gio Nam Nuang - which vermicelli noodle w everything. Everything cooked very good and flavorful but always room for improvement. What was really surprising was the twice cooked Garlic wings. I came here with some friends and had the Chicken Satay and Pho Sate, and the food was great! The sauces that came with the Chicken Satay were tasty and the broth for the Pho Sate was flavorful. They took a bit to serve us our food, but I think they were understaffed.

Diner Review №191

We were seated in the corner and it took quite a while for them to take our order or to bring us our receipt. The food was pretty decent, the sprouts that come with the pho were not fresh but overall decent. I will probably not go back

Diner Review №192

I ate here as part of a party of 8 (including two toddlers). Overall the experience was good. The food was excellent - good flavor, nice portions, and good quality. The downside was that the service was a little brusk and one of the meals didn't come out until everyone else was almost done eating.

Diner Review №193

Fantastic little place! Great food for a pretty good price. I got the Tom yum soup which was delicious!! Next time I must try the fried chicken. The people next to us got it and it looked amazing!!!
