Quaint, compact eatery whipping up classic Thai fare, including vegetarian options & curries.
We enjoyed their fry calamari. They ere crunchy and went well with their sweet and sour sauce. Their Thai rolls were alright. It is our first time trying Pad See Ew with small rice noodle, and we are not a fan of that. Their portions are smaller than most places we have been to around the area, but their price are also cheaper. I personally like the pricing and the portion, so I don't have to pay more just to take leftover home.
One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to — a secret hole in the wall. Best pad Thai, vegetable spring rolls, and chicken satay! I only wish they would bring back that ginger soup they used to serve each customer before meals during lunch.
I always get takeout because the space is so small but the food and pricing are fantastic. This is the only restaurant I know of that hasn’t had price gouging since the pandemic. I highly recommend it
Decided to get off I-95 to have lunch and found Bangkok Spice Thai Restaurant on Google Maps. My first visit to Reading, MA, which was also really nice to see. The restaurant is on a quiet street off of Main. They have a simple menu where you can select your choice of protein, vegetables and sauces (served with rice), as well as variety of pad thai. I had the roasted duck in panang curry — the sauce was exceptionally good and the duck nicely done. The restaurant itself is small, but the seating was comfortable and they do a brisk take-out business. Street parking in front — no problem finding a parking space.
We enjoyed a quick dinner here. The food was good. They scrambled to find menus, and the waitress seemed to be a bit overwhelmed, but everything happened fast, as we asked. Chicken Satay was good, but the pour some white sauce on them, which is not common, as some people prefer no sauce, or deep themselves.
I’m reluctant to leave this place a review because I want it to remain my secret. But this is the best restaurant in the United States.
Everything about it is 5 stars.
We discovered a treausre today. Small, cute, and clean, the cuisine was outstanding. Veggie options were delicious for my daughter and the lots of variety in the meat dishes. Reasonable prices, excellent quality. Service was very good. We will definitely go back and recommend highly.
I was underwhelmed by the food. The pad thai was very ok but had bits of eggshell in it from the fried egg. Along with the fried duck which seemed to have too much cartilage in the meat this just ruined our dinner for me. Kind of seemed like lazily prepared food to be honest. The spring rolls were good but overall the food was kind of a tragic experience.

Big portion and delicious
Great food great people !!
One of my favorite thai restaurants in all of boston area. Discovered it when a friend moved nearby and invited me to try it and have been a frequent customer every time I’m in the area. A hidden gem in my opinion
Bangkok Spice simply has the best Pad Thai anywhere. A couple of important things to note when eating any stir fried noodles:
1. Be sure to stir/rotate the noodles on your plate because the sauces tend to collect on the bottom. This is true whether you done in and essentially if you take it home.
2. Make sure you eat the chicken in the pad thai right when it comes to your table, (or as soon as possible) otherwise it can dry out. The chef knows the secret of stir-frying the ingredients in the correct order which is critical with Pad Thai, otherwise it will be very dry. For example, did you know the crushed peanuts have to be added last? They soak up the sauce and cause the noodles to dry out. If you're ordering takeout, make sure to ask for the peanuts to be separated.
Try the Tom Yum soup. It's excellent.
The service is always friendly and prompt. Overall the regular pad thai and basil pad thai are the best I've ever tasted. The curries are all outstanding, especially the Masman.
Excellent food. Don't miss it!
Great food at reasonable prices.
Ordered for taking out. One of the dishes was wrong (we ordered red curry but gave us something else). The ingredients were not fresh and the taste was bad.

Best in the area and great value. Never had a bad meal. Great lunch specials.
The food is always good.
Quick, tasty, has quickly become our go-to for take out. Also wonderful (but no frills!) for dine-in. Great value and food!

Wasn't very good when I got takeout. The pad Thai was bland and dry

The most delicious Thai food I have ever had!!! Can’t say enough good things about the food and the staff. Ott (the cook) is absolutely incredible. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Good food and good price!
The Best Basil Pad Thai
Love this place for lunch.
Best Thai restaurant
We keep trying this place because the reviews are so positive. Personally, we find the pad Thai very bland and dry. We’ve even asked for them to make it more saucy and to add spice with no success, it comes out the same. We want it to be good which is why we’ve returned but unfortunately the pad Thai is one of the worst we’ve had. Only writing this review hoping owners see and revisit their recipe!
I had the tasty and spicy Basil Leaves with chicken. A good variety of vegetables including carrots and broccoli. Good view of people walking Haven street as well.
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the Boston area. It is located close to the Reading train station. It is a cosy, mom-and-pop operation, so its hours our limited: closed on Sundays and generally closed one month a year, for vacation with family in Thailand--my only complaint! The dishes are superb: very lightly cooked vegetables, exactly to my taste. Furthermore, they will adjust the spiciness to one's personal taste, and even adjust ingredients! Now THAT is service. 5 stars.
Wonderful small restaurant serving Thai food. Great food and very reasonably priced
Excellent food and the hostess was super nice. A great place for dine-in or takeout.
Great food, great family business!
Great taste
The absolute best pad Thai in all of New England, hands down, full stop, no contest. Great service and delicious food all around, beer at a fair price, highly recommend.
Wonderful food cooked with fresh ingredients. Good menu selections.
Great Thai food, and quick table and takeout service. Place is small and a hole in the wall though....
This is a hidden jewel in Reading. There a only a few open tables and it seemed like most people order take out. The food wAs absolutely amazing. We had the crispy duck and it was fresh and so tasty! I highly recommend it!
Food is pretty mediocre. Large chunks of vegetables in the curry.
I never know when they're open, but when I catch them, they're good.
My first Thai Experience. The Bomb
Best. Place. ever!
The Thai food here is great. I come here all the time from work for lunch. Also, the staff and owners are the nicest
I have had many pad Thai dishes from coast to coast this has to be one of the most enjoyable
They serve the Best Pad Thai!
Good food! Sarah the waitresses was unbelievably great!
Always good! Quick lunch place to go. Need to get early if u want a place
Food is flavourful. Service is good. Chicken meat is not fresh.
Not Authentic at all but service was good. Not coming back
Great food
The best thai food around!!
Food was great, portion was larger than expected, and the service was friendly.
What's surprising is the inconsistency. I came here a week ago for lunch and had got their lunch special pad thai, which came with a soup, and really loved it. Priced for lunch too, at $8.5, you can't really go wrong. I came in today to pick up a pad thai to-go around noon. The place was packed, as in, there were no free seats. A sign read that tables of 4 may need to be shared for single or double diners. So business is booming. And it's great that we have a good Thai restaurant in Reading. But the noodles were not nearly as good as I remember today. Kind of dry and tasteless. Not terrible. But definitely not as good as I remember from last time. I'll definitely give them another try and thank you to Bangkok Spice for adding to the dining diversity of this area.
One of my favorite Thai places in Greater Boston area and top 3 restaurants in Reading. They do an excellent job with seafood (a must for good Thai) and the various classic curries and pasta dishes are great. I wish they delivered though!
Quick and friendly service with decent food.
Lunch was a little too salty, but otherwise tasty.
The benchmark of Thai food, no fancy just food prepared with love and care. That's the secret spice they use
I recently moved to the area. I have ordered from this restaurant a few times and I like the food. Every business makes a mistake once in a while, but what counts is how they handle it. This one made a mistake with me on a recent order. When I brought it to their attention, they offered my next order for free, which is exactly how businesses should handle such matters. Well done!
I recommend the pad see yew with tofu or the radnar with tofu. You really can't go wrong.
Best food in Reading
Food was delicious and price was reasonable
Love the place. So far everything we tried was tasty.
Service is really good.
One star less because it can get smelly.
I lived in reading till 2016 and my wife and I always came here. We came back recently for a week and swung by for dinner and it was good to see that the quality hasn't changed. I usually get the Tom yum soup and basil pad Thai but ask to add peanuts. So a little bit of a combo of both pad Thais.
One of my very favorite Thai food. Service and food is always excellent and prices are reasonable. Cozy and pleasant I have tried several from the menu, and I was pleased with all
Excellent food, large portions and low prices - what more could you ask for? This restaurant is a fixture in the town.
A very good, basic Thai restaurant with good prices. Service was excellent and the small space was well appointed. If you want Thai food, this place is a good bet.
Ginger curry is the best dish here!
Quality food and reasonable price. I recommend the basil pad Thai.
Good food with reasonable prices.
Excellent restaurant, just wish they were open later!
Good and reasonable.
Food is consistently good, service is very nice. Curries with fresh vegetables are particularly good here.
Call ahead order always perfect. Thx for doing such an amazing job.
Had the glass noodles. Wasn't in the mood for spicy and it was perfect. Great meal as usual. I love this place.
Great food at a great price. Will definitely go here again. The yellow curry chicken was excellent.
First time I ever went. What a gem. Food was excellent, everything fresh ,service was on time. Waitress excellent , efficient funny and friendly. Will definitely go back as a go to place. I loved it.
Busy for weekday lunch but fast service so we didn't wait long. Our server brought us a little bowl of soup to start. We hadn't ordered it and I don't even know what kind of soup it was but it was the most delicious soup I've ever had. I ordered a coconut milk soup and green curry with tofu. Both were excellent. Plenty of vegetarian options. Attentive service, great food, very reasonable prices. The next time I'm in Reading I will visit again!
A delicious find in Reading. I will be visiting more. I can’t get enough of the red curry dishes, very flavorful. And the ginger soup is worth the trip alone!
Great tasty Thai dishes. Reasonable price. Good service.
My close friends spoke highly for a long time of how great it is. I finally stop for take out. I was very happy with my choices, My first time going to a Thai restaurant . I will be going back .small place with a more personal service. I did go in the evening no t sure how lunch menu is but I'm sure it's good.
Pineapple fried rice is the best anywhere!
Great Food, Excellent service
5 Stars all day long
Eat in or take out, great either way.
Friendly service. Good food.
Seating is a bit tight, but fine for lunch.
It's one of our favorite options for a quick take out dinner.
Excellent! very fresh, best Thai food in area.
Small restaurant with some great food. Due to size of the restaurant, plan on arriving by 11:30am for lunch as the tables fill up fast. In my case we had to wait 10 minutes before we were seated. We were given the chance to order in advance of seating. We took them up on the opportunity. Once seated, we were served our lunch immediately.
We were ordering a big order for 14 people and the lady couldn’t take the order and then in middle of order she hung up saying “I am really busy !”.
Unprofessional and really sad ! And this was on Christmas season .
Small portions and okish taste, please use Charms Thai bistro .
So yummy! Best green curry I've had in a long time!
Delicious, great price, great service. Tiny dining room but it adds to the charm.
Best pa Thai I've ever had!!!!!!
Love the Pad Tai
Quick, cheap, delicious lunch deals
Cozy restaurant serves great food
My favorite local restaurant. Standby dishes such as pad thai are delicious, but try the house specialties too.
Inexpensive, quaint restaurant. Pad See Ew is delicious with your choice of chicken, pork or beef. Lunch time on Friday can be busy, expect to wait or arrive early.
Awesome food!
Small, intimate, fantastic food, friendly staff.
Great Thai food....our regular go to place
Good food but not a BYOB.
THE BEST PADTHAI EVER!! I get a lot of people coming to visit from other states / countries. And they all want come here for Thai food. Great little family restaurant!
So yummy! Always a great meal with friendly service. Kind of a hole-in-the-wall but that adds to the charm.
Good unpretentious Thai food.
A small lovely family owned restaurant in a small lovely town. I always have a chance meeting with a friend or neighbor there. The food is great. It is probably not suitable for large groups due to its small tables. Around Christmas season they are often closed as the owners visit Thailand then.
The food is wonderful eclectic and reasonably priced.
Awesome hidden gem. Get there early for lunch to make sure you get a seat
The soup is fantastic.
The costumer service is always top notch
Great lunch specials, very quick, and tastes SUPER good. I had the Chicken Red Curry today, I loved it.
Small place but good takeout.
absolutely delicious and perfect portions
The food here is some of the best Thai that I have ever had. I try to go to this place anytime I am in the area.
Great little gem in Reading. Everything I've ever had here has never disappointed. I usually default to the Basil Pad Thai but there is a lot to choose from. Must try.
Love the Pad Thai and crispy chicken wings! Service is great and the prices are very reasonable! One of our favorite places to go.
I love the food here; so fresh and always consistent.
Amazing food! Awesome service! Tom yum and spicy basal chicken are awesome!!
Hidden gem.
I really love the basil pad Thai from here, it is very unique, I have not found anything like it anywhere else. The dining area is small with a (casual feel) and the staff are friendly. Reading is lucky to have such a great little establishment.
Really bad service!
Great pad thai, great prices
If i could more stars to this place i would. My absolute favourite thai food on the planet.
Their House friend rice and Pad Thai, are unbelievable.
Curries are delectable, and my favourite is the Bamboo Duck.
Lunch menu is so so so reasonable, and the Dinner menu isn't that much different.
Fresh, delicious and the most fantastic food!
Hate to give this place away, because its a small, hidden gem in Reading.. but i can't help it!
I love their pineapple fried rice. It's my go-to every time. You can't go wrong.
Very small restaurant with the most incredible food! Very personal service. Great for vegetarians!
