I’ve been a long time customer of Le Du Thai, this review is long over due. There was a change in ownership and I feel like most times, I am left feeling disappointed at the food. Particularly the pad Thai. It’s just not tasty, very oily and lacks proper balance with fresh ingredients like scallions and beans sprouts. The chicken is clearly microwaved and it has an unpleasant after taste. It is very rare that I am fully satisfied with with the food. Hopefully they take the feedback constructively and focus more on quality. I would say It’s definitely not authentic nor fresh.

Diner Review №2

This place is so good!!! I like to go here in between my schools hours for lunch or dinner and it never disappoints. The chicken is super good and the workers are the sweetest.

Diner Review №3

The best takeout Thai food I’ve had in a while! Delicious

Diner Review №4

Great food small restaurant

Diner Review №5

The food was fantastic, the service was great! Tight spot to eat it that makes it cozy, can't complain. Definitely a must try spot for great Thai!

The best Phat Thai and Thom yam

Diner Review №12

it is a take out restaurant with a couple of tables right in front of the counter area. would you say this is a place with waiter service... NO. ordered food to dine in and the lady who took the order, who also happens to be the cashier/waitress, asked to put down tips because we are dining in. which we were going to at the end of the meal! food was too sweet, not much flavor. thai iced tea had no flavor, tasted like sugar+water.

Great food, good service 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Diner Review №15

Delicious food and friendly service! I highly recommend the tom kha soup. Seems mostly meant for takeout because the seating is very limited but we did do dine-in and it was great!

We ordered in for guests tonight. Everything was absolutely delicious. We will be back for sure.

Diner Review №20

Excellent Thai food at Newton.

Diner Review №21

Great food! Great service! Very nice!

Diner Review №22

Pad Thai was not traditional. Wider noodles with some spice. I love thin rice noodle mild taste pad Thai which I’ve had most places throughout my life. Not this kind.

Diner Review №23

Diner Review №24

We love this place but the wait for an order was above 1 hour, so we didn't wait.

Diner Review №25

Very good food! Extremely polite staff. Reasonable prices.

Diner Review №26

Really lovely place for Thai food ! The duck pad Thai is absolutely delicious, and the service is lovely. Go-to spot for myself and my friends.

Diner Review №27

Wow! So delicious. One of the best Thai meals I’ve had. Highly recommend! Ordered Crunchy pad Thai, drunken noodles and mango curry. My mouth is still salivating.

Diner Review №30

This place has both abysmal quality and false advertising. I paid extra for beef in my drunken noodles and received fatty ground beef instead. My husband's chicken in LeDu noodles also didn't taste fresh and was extremely dry. Apparently it tasted like days old Pai Thai repackaged. Save your dollars elsewhere and go with a restaurant that doesn't try to skimp.

Diner Review №31

My husband and I saw this place on our walk and decided to try this restaurant as we love Thai cuisine.

The place is not very big, there are 2-3 tables to dine-in, most of the people do take out.

To begin, we ordered the scallion pancakes 🥞 and we loved every bit of it. It was crisp, the portion size was good for 2 people, and it tasted amazing!!! 👍🏼👍🏼

Next, we ordered the red Thai curry with vegetables, and hot basil fried rice with tofu for the main course. I also asked them for a side of fried egg.

If you like spices, please do ask them for a side of their Thai paprika- it is my fav spice and tastes good with rice, pancakes and curries.

We ended our dinner with a Thai ice tea. I prefer Thai coffee, but the tea was nice, not overly sweet, and my husband liked it.

Overall, I would say it’s a good local restaurant in Newton, and you should try it.

Diner Review №32

The Thai foods here are amazing! My favorite dish is Kao Soi. My husband loves Duck Choo chee.
You guys are doing a great job!
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Newton ever!!!

Diner Review №33

The drunken noodles are fantastic - great flavor. Pad thai is great too. The owner is very nice. Would recommend this to anyone.

Diner Review №34

Wonderful small Thai restaurant!

Diner Review №35

the pad thai here was amazing. The noodles was perfectly chewy and the chicken and pork from both dishes were perfectly tender. Would recommend and come back again just for the pad thai! Food came pretty fast too in around 5 minutes.

Diner Review №36

Yes they make tasty dish only when they are not busy 😑Today I ordered 1 of their noodle dishes, the dish looked and tasted horrible like it was cooked with bad meat, first taste I gagged. I called the restaurant and asked if they had new chef. The lady said nope, I explained that my dish taste like it was cooked with something that had gone bad. Lady tried to convince me that the reason it had that weird taste it’s because food was covered for too long in plastic bowl, stood there trying to defend a nasty dish. hopefully they won’t remake the dish and resale it to someone else. I’m sorry but I was disgusted. They are no longer 1 of my favorite Thai restaurants 😑

Diner Review №37

Diner Review №38

The people that work here are extremely rude abrasive and aggressive. I ordered food from here got yelled at by the front desk employee, got put down by the lady working behind her, and the food isn't even good and overpriced. Go somewhere else this place will be closing soon

Tasteless pseudo Thai. Gummy appetizers.. Flat curry . Medium spicy .. bland.

Diner Review №43

This place was awful. Avoid this place by all means. There are other restaurants around that offer the same food.

I love their food. My go to for Thai food in the area!

Diner Review №56

Cashier lied about my order being ready. I arrived and my food was ready but she said it wasn't. We waited for 30 min. then she called my name and pointed to the bag on the front table (where the bag had been since we arrive and she claimed it wasn't ready yet) and said your food is ready now. I told her why did she lie, she said she had to make me wait until one other woman (who had been standing there waiting) got her food first, even though mine was ready first. Other people walked in as well and she handed them their food. I told her that what she did was rude and insensitive, she said that's the way it works for her. By the time we arrived home, the food was cold. I couldn't believe how unkind and rude she was, the gentleman working next to her looked at me and apologized, but she didn't care. You'd think kindness and customer service were some key attributes people would have in the service business. Additionally, they all had masks but didn't wear them, not even the cooks, they were all hanging from their ears, all of them pretending to wear them. I will never return there. This is not a time to play with peoples emotions, we have a lot on our plates already. I don't mind helping our local businesses, but when they behave this badly, it really makes me sad.

LeDu management you can say or provide any excuse you want to and try to make me sound like I'm unreasonable. I offered to pay for the extra soup and offered several times. If you didn't want to do it, just say no. It has nothing to do with my complaint. Also the reason why I requested it is because the last time I ordered the soup with noodles, it didn't have enough broth to cover the noodles which I explained to her so she understood. Shame on you for that one! Also, there wasn't any confusion of the order. It was clear. I came in, my order was ready, she looked at the bag and set it aside and said your order isn't ready yet. She did lie and told me that she had to say this to accommodate the woman whom had been there before I arrived. Shame on you for trying to make up something that is not. You're not the only restaurant around that is open and your not the only one donating and if you are, then I think that is very kind of you but it still does not give your restaurant the right to treat others differently. Please don't try to make something up or aggrandize what you do as a restaurant to cover up this issues. Just apologize, change your process and move on.

Super friendly staff and great food. The coconut chicken soup is out of the world (don’t count its calories though:-)). Also if you are fine with spicy (I mean, VERY SPICY) dishes, try the jungle beef - you will not regret!

Diner Review №60

We ordered 2 dishes with tofu and no egg. Both dishes came out covered in fish sauce. When we returned the food and explained we were vegan, they told us they would have to charge us 50% MORE because we didnt specify that we are vegan. My husband & i will mever be returning. Vegans beware....just saying no egg, with tofu isn't enough for them to realize they should ask if fish sauce is ok.

Diner Review №61

My wife & I just ordered 2 dishes from here with no egg & tofu added because we are vegan. When they came out, I noticed that both dishes had fish sauce on them despite ZERO labeling on their menu to say so. When I asked if we could get 2 new dishes, but to make sure they were vegan, we were told it was going to be another 50% on top of the $37 we just paid to have them remade. Unfortunately we walked out & will never return. Vegans beware it's not enough to mention no egg & add tofu for them to realize they might want to ask if fish sauce is ok.

Diner Review №69

Great thai food. The pumpkin curry and crispy pork pad thai were exceptional. Best Thai food I've had in a while. Also, had the jalapeno wings which were good, nothing special, but very solid. Fast service. Great little place.

Diner Review №78

Best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand. It's really hard to find good Kao Soi (very few Thai restaurants even have it on the menu), but this place is excellent. Only been there a few times (mostly for Kao Soi and Pad Thai) so far but looking forward to sampling the whole menu.

Diner Review №86

We had dinner here as we happened to be in Newton and this place was well reviewed. There's not much sitting room, but we were able to get a table for 3 of us. The food came out very fast despite the kitchen looking pretty busy with delivery/take out orders. The pad thai was good, but not amazing. My wife enjoyed the basil fried rice a lot more. The Thai iced tea felt light and was very sweet. A decent experience but we are used to better options in Cambridge & Somerville.

Stopped by this place while I was doing my laundry next door. Prices were a bit high, but the food was good. Everything tasted fresh, and seasoned to my liking. Will be stopping by again to try some of their other dishes.

Diner Review №98

Really liked the food there. Pineapple Curry is my latest favorite.

Diner Review №99

Diner Review №100

Definitely good, authentic food. The price point is a bit steep, but considering that everything is made in-house, it's not surprising. Entrees are filling and give you plenty of options, however, the appetizers are pretty small portions for what you pay. Then again, this isn't fast food asian cusine, so many would argue you're getting what you pay for.

Diner Review №101

Delicious food.

Diner Review №102

For now, it is 3 stars for me
I just tried shrimp pad thai and fresh shrimp rolls. Both tasted so so. I will try other menu like their "specials" pork belly.

Diner Review №107

I really don't understand why this place gets such good reviews.
First, the prices are at least $2-3 higher per dish as compared to other Thai places in the area, even higher than Four Spoons, which is a nice sit down restaurant.
Since this place is so close to our house, we decided to give it a try, maybe since the prices are high and reviews are still amazing, this is a gem.
Not so much.
We ordered tom yum soup, pad thai, jungle beef and massaman curry. Wasn't sure about the soup since it was $12 and we thought it was a large container and it would be too much food. Ordered it anyways. To my shock, the soup came in a pint container! PINT! for $12!! At Four Spoons that same amount of soup would cost you $5, less than half. The soup tasted ok ... definitely not worth the high price tag. This is just outrageous.
Jungle beef was ok at best, eggplants were under cooked and it lacked flavor. Massaman curry taste wise was ok, but the ingredients ... pieces of very dry chicken, huge pieces of carrots, potatoes and onions. So huge that it took several bites to each one. It was very odd and not tasty all together at all.
Pad thai had pieces of burnt chicken and overall it tasted as if it got very burnt and they just scraped the top off to serve and threw out the burnt portion. This was probably the worst pad thai ever and for $12 I felt so cheated.
Spent $50+ on this dinner, and yes we had left overs so it was kind of like 2 meals, but it was just not tasty at all. This is not good quality food. It should not cost even half of what we paid.

Diner Review №108

Diner Review №109

Food's OK. It was definitely quick! There are only a handful of seats here.

Diner Review №110

Solid Thai menu. Good customer service (love the ability to order online for later pickup) and the lunch specials are a good value. Some of my coworkers didn't know this hidden gem was so close, but now most of the time I order, someone else asks to get something too. Menu isn't extensive but all that I've had (curries, pad thai, pad kee mao) are spot-on.

We had the Kao Soi and the Old Fashion Tom Yum Soup, two of our favorites from when we spent 3 months traveling in Thailand last year. LeDu delivers on both dishes as if we were in Bangkok. Our new go-to place for Thai food for sure.
