Serving authentic Thai cuisine and fresh sushi in a modern and vibrant ambiance.
I come here at least once a week. I have been addicted for over a year, and I'm not upset. The crispy duck pad see ew lives rent free in my mind. The sushi rolls are also great (love the Michael Go). The massaman curry, pad thai, drunken noodles, and duck fried rice are also good. My friend says the Tom Yum is legit. I will come here until I die.
Went to Sweet Rice last weekend and the food was delicious! We came in earlier than we reserved but they were still gracious to get us sat as soon as possible. Prices are pretty decent as well.
Their thai tea was amazing ! I also had their miso soup and shrimp tempura sushi roll which were also delicious, but my favorite dish had to be desert. I had mango sticky rice which is my favorite and they exceeded my expectations! Some of the best portions of mango sticky rice ive seen.
I really recommend coming here for lunch or dinner, only con is the lack of parking but its a busier street so not much they can do about that. Overall it was so good and I will definitely be returning.
“This Thai and sushi restaurant is an absolute delight! The menu offers an incredible combination of flavors, with authentic Thai dishes and beautifully crafted sushi rolls. Every dish is fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced—whether you’re craving a spicy pad Thai, creamy green curry, or melt-in-your-mouth sushi.
The presentation is stunning, especially the sushi, which is almost too beautiful to eat. The variety of sushi options, from classic rolls to creative signature combinations, ensures there’s something for everyone.
The service is outstanding—warm, attentive, and efficient. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to make recommendations, which is great given the extensive menu.
The atmosphere is cozy yet modern, making it the perfect spot for a date night, family dinner, or a meal with friends. The attention to detail in both the food and ambiance truly elevates the experience.
I can’t recommend this place enough! If you’re a fan of Thai cuisine or sushi—or both—this restaurant is a must-visit!”
The food was amazing very fresh. They have one to five spice level. I had a spice level 5 , I think it was the perfect spice level for someone who enjoys spicy food. However, my tolerance is really high and it wasn’t as spicy for me. The food was fresh, I had the crispy chicken drunken noodles, for appetizer, I had the spring rolls, And the Thai fried ice cream. Ambiance was nice , servers were kind.I am from NYC but I had to say that was some bomb Thai 🌶️🙌🩷 Oh and for vegetarians majority of the meat options had tofu or veggie substitute.
I’ve been ordering from this place for a couple years now and it always hits! The crispy chicken pad Thai and berry Rangoon's are delicious! I’ve had the sushi and tried a few other dishes and everything is always good! The Thai iced tea is perfect ratio which is very important to me.
My partner and I both think of this place as a comfort because the quality of food, the service and the value for your money are just unmatched.
Partner loves to get crispy spicy basil chicken and I love their veggie drunken noodles. Solid level of spice if you ask for it. We usually ask for a 4/5 spice level and it's well done.
The only improvement they could have would be in consistency. I believe there are 2 different chefs and one of them is arguably the better one, especially at making drunken noodles. Whenever that chef makes the dish, the noodles are perfect in flavour, texture and have a nice char and kick to them. But the difference in flavour between the two chefs isn't too stark and even the food portion and taste is still good!
Other things we've tried and liked include the tom kha gai soup! So heartwarming and delicious, like a warm hug in a bowl! The veg basil fried rice is another favourite of mine and always consistently great!
Overall I recommend them for their food and the lovely and attentive staff who are always great. A special mention for how fast and efficient the service is! We've never had to wait too long for our food and we've easily eaten here over two dozen times!
Great little Pan Asian Restaurant in JP and certainly worth trying. It is right on the 39 Route bus on Center St.
We got the red curry with vegetables and duck pad c u was amazing! Duck tasted so good.
Tasty

Very decent place in JP. Their lunch specials are very reasonably priced and good portions. I've had their pad thai and chicken dishes. I do recommend.
You made beef drunken noodles. It was tasty, but you did not serve enough noodles and the noodles were all chopped up. I will give you another chance.
Great service and excellent/affordable food. Try the miso soup (I added tofu), the chicken basil fried rice, the veggie spring rolls, and the red/massaman curries. We have visited here a few times now and it definitely won't be the last. Cheap drinks available too!
The curry and Thai iced tea is so good
I love sweet rice. The food is good, both noodles and sushi. The rolls are definitely a tad expensive but that's par for the course for location and how much you're getting, and they don't skimp!
I have being to this place many time because I have pediatric appointments down the street from this place but today they make me really disappointed , I come with my son and I did not realized they’re close for a few hours and open back at 4pm . We’re there around 3:40 so I ask them really nicely because I have my son with me can we just come in and sit waiting for them to open at 4. Because there is 20 min more and ours cars park far away so I ask if they could be nice and let us in waiting for the place to open again . But they said No . I don’t mean to be rude but this place is not a kids friendly. I would never come back here . Nope thank you 😊
Such great food (extensive menu, too), nice ambiance, and friendly service!
Great food. Very flavorful and good portions.
Decent place for Thai and sushi rolls take out.
I would definitely try the spicy pad thai here. Compliment your food with sake and you’re all set for the night.
I worked on the A/C and they gifted us lunch. Everyone is very hospital the food is great
Nice quiet environment food is done very quickly good quality quiet neighborhood

The cashier was super rude.
I never met a cashier like this in Boston..
He urged me to hurry up and order, and when I hesitated, he gestured to take the next person's order first. After making the customer feel bad, he boldly demanded a tip.
Oh and the price was different from the menu they posted!
Be aware!!
Definitely not going back.
Great service and food. I like that they close 3pm so that the staff can eat.
Fresh rolls were not good. Main dishes were so so.
Easy casual spot, great place for weekday lunch.
I went here for lunch today and got their basil tofu curry. They have different prices for lunch and dinner (difference as much as $5) — and they charged me the dinner price even though I was there at 2pm during their lunch service! The server never mentioned it and I didn’t realize until later — kind of shady of them to incorrectly upcharge us, that’s terrible practice!! Food was pretty ok too, but this price up charge really threw me off
Sweet Rice is a solid option in JP. The prices are okay and the staff are very nice. The food is tasty but nothing that will knock your socks off. Very standard. The only thing I dislike is that the kitchen can't seem to get dishes out all at the same time. I've been a few times where the whole table will get food except one person. That one person usually waits 10 minutes and then everyone else's food gets cold while waiting for them to get their food.
Very nice, very cordial service, unfortunately had problems with air conditioning in one part of restaurant. Had great tom tom soup and sushi. My friends enjoyed great noodles.
I haven’t eaten at this restaurant for years. They change over switch management prices went up at first the food was great and surprises wasn’t a big deal most recently I went in there and order the same dish that I order every time a chicken and broccoli pasta noodle with peanut sauce and sprouts because I don’t live in the area. I ordered three orders to go me and my kids as a treat to my surprise. It was absolutely disgusting the noodles taste like Raman in the peanut formula changed pasta, was clumpy. and I paid $57 for three orders trash. Definitely not what I remembered.
Sushi and Thai food, so a large menu. We ordered off the Thai side. Delicious!
I’ve been ordering from this place for a couple years now and it always hits! The crispy chicken pad Thai and berry Rangoon's are delicious! I’ve had the sushi and tried a few other dishes and everything is always good! The Thai iced tea is perfect ratio which is very important to me.
The atmosphere and service is great, the food is very good if you get the right thing and middling if you don't, not bad, just not great.
The pad Thai was amazing so if you're wanting that definitely come here.
The spring rolls were definitely freezer and low quality ones you could get at a grocery store.
The chicken satay was probably the best I've ever had, they went heavier on the actual curry on the chicken than most other places I've been to which rely on the peanut sauce for the bulk of the taste. I do love a good peanut sauce and it complimented the chicken well, but it enhanced, it wasn't necessary for enjoyment because the chicken alone was that good.
The red curry tasted good but it sort of felt like it was a bunch of good ingredients put together but not really a dish, hard to explain but everything felt very separate vs combined. I've had other red curry in the past, maybe this was a bit.. watery? Could have used a thickening agent or been boiled down.
The Thai pancake was really good.
I will definitely come back and keep trying things here, as the highs are very high, but I feel like this is a place where some of their items are made very well and the others are sort of mid.
But they actually put curry in the red curry, coming up from Florida the palate in new England seems a bit sensitive to.. spice or.. flavor. Some places here really under spice their food, this is not one of those places which is to my liking.
I'm excited to trying the sushi here as this place is a walk from my house.
Don't take my review as cause to stay away the highs are high and the lows are just sort of mediocre. Aside from the spring rolls those really need to be made on site or something. Something there needs to change.
Lots of vegetarian options if you don't eat meat, which I do but I've got friends that don't so I'm glad I'll be able to take them here.
I appreciate that they have lots of gluten free options (although celiacs beware - not everything marked as gf is celiac safe). I got the pad Thai after double checking with the server about cross contamination and didn’t get sick. It was very tasty!
One of the best local Thai restaurants with very well priced menu.
Things that I tried and were great:
- Thai Iced Coffee (most favorite, only $4 when i got it)
- Basil Chicken friend rice (second favorite)
Good food. Tight seating. Quick service.
Great
We visited for the first time today as a family of seven. We has the drunken noodle, basil chicken, shrimp pad thai, crab rangoon, teriyaki wings and sushi. Everything was served quickly and fresh. We enjoyed everything, even the coffee was delicious. We will definitely visit again.
The food was amazing very fresh. They have one to five spice level. I had a spice level 5 , I think it was the perfect spice level for someone who enjoys spicy food. The fried vegetarian dumplings were to die for. The green curry was too too watery.
Great selection of food, fresh, and excellent service.
Excellent food and service.
Nice atmosphere. Great customer service. Good fresh authentic Thai food. Will definitely go back again.
Good atmosphere, water at the table, very attendant staff. The sushi portions were quite smaller then I am used to but still very tastey.
Me and a freind got the edemame, sashimi platter and the Boston roll. That was enough to fill us, and was tastey.
The Boston roll hase mayo and lettuce, very strange bite of sushi.
Easy to order food via toast and there are a lot of good options to choose from.
I ordered a couple of sushi rolls, a hand roll, pad Thai, and steamed pork dumplings. The portions and flavor were good, the only issue I had was with the cook on the steamed dumplings. I gave the restaurant a call and let them know that the dumplings were mushy and they made me a new order.
When I went to pick up the remake, they had me try a piece there to make sure it came out better this time. I appreciated that attention and follow-through to make sure they put out quality food. Will be back
Great food at this Thai JP restaurant. I visit often for lunch. Sushi is delicious too.
I used to come here and the food was very good. I consistently ordered out and picked up the food myself. Sometimes I’d dine in. A couple years ago when trying to order, they hung up on me twice for seemingly no reason. I felt I was not at all rude, I was simply inquiring to place an order. I emailed about what had happened and got no response. Ever since I decided not to come back. It’s just the premise of what had happened. I’ve gone elsewhere with my business where I’m treated nicely. That’s part of the overall dining experience, isn’t it?
Living in Jamaica Plain, this was an absolute staple for us. Takeout is very efficient and the food is always up to par!
Very very good, I'd definitely go back again 💯
Very good food. Expensive but not crazy comparatively. Good portions for price. Got a tv inside.
Our favorite sushi place in JP. I've been here probably around a dozen times over the years and it is consistently good food. The sushi prices are a bit steep for any sort of specialty roll, so don't come as often as we would like.. but great food and service nonetheless.
Fantastic Thai food and wonderful staff. Can’t wait to return for sushi and Thai food together!
My last minute spot for a quick bite. I enjoy their pad thai and wings.
Today I paid more than 40 bucks for re-frozen jumbo shrimp and the knowledge that staff at a restaurant can be so unkind that they are ominous. This is the kind of place where you wonder if your food was spat into only for it to come out at the same quality as the atmosphere. I wish I went somewhere else because who laughs at their customers who are locked outside of the front door waiting for a pick up order. You would think they expected me or anything. Here’s to standing around to get taunted by local teens behind a locked door when youre a first time customer who just wanted lunch. 🥂
Quality was out the window and I just couldn’t not finish what I thought would be a delicious order. And on my supposed Salmon was CANNED pineapples. I’d never buy this for my own cooking.
⚠️Great to recommend to your enemies
I've been to Sweet Rice 3 times and have been disappointed. I had the sushi and sashimi, and each time I have found the fish to have a weird aftertaste, indicating that it was not fresh. Sushi was OK only because the fish was wrapped in rice.
I had drunken noodle with tofu and vegetables. The portion was big and the quality was good. Slightly on the greasy side but I won’t let that change my rating. The service was excellent, friendly, and quick. We received our dishes within 10 minutes. I hope to return again because there were some other items I wanted to try.
Love the food and been our go to spot for a while. But the recent price hike hurts.
Best crab ragoon in Boston. Cranberry flavor, very unique
My partner and I both think of this place as a comfort because the quality of food, the service and the value for your money are just unmatched.

Best Thai spot in JP with solid Japanese offerings. Been a go to for me ever since it opened.
I’ve been here a few time, each time is better than the last!
The staff are so friendly and the food is fantastic!
I’ll definitely keep coming!
Went with my wife and a close friend for dinner. We got seated immediately but were not waited on after receiving waters until I raised my hand to get the wait staff's attention. At this point the restaurant was not even half full.
We got tempura and spring rolls for appetizers. Those were good, but they're pretty hard to make bad. Once again we had to go to the wait staff for chopsticks, which was odd to do in an east and southeast asian restaurant.
Our entrees all arrived at different times. Our friend got drunken noodles with shrimp that, after the shrimp she didn't even finish. My wife ordered the crispy duck entree which she said was dry. I ordered crispy chicken fried rice, which was a chicken breast cooked katsu style over a bed of poorly seasoned fried rice. Also, the fried rice had 2 GIANT chunks of tomato as well as multiple pieces of bland, gigantic pieces of broccoli and carrots.
All in all, I did not have a good dining experience and I think there are far better east and southeast asian restaurants within a 5 minute walk from this one.
Very good new spot in JP. Sushi was very good, miso soup is great, dumplings are great. The sushi is definitely overpriced compared to JP Seafood Cafe right across the street and is of no better quality so at some point they may have to adjust pricing.
Even it can be a little bit crowded because there is no room for many tables, the atmosphere is pretty nice. The menu has different options, such as soups, rice and a variety of Thai food and sushi. They have vegetarian options as well.
It's one of my favorite places in JP.
Great place for gluten free people as everything is labeled clearly
The staff is rude and service is inefficient.
Best Thai in Boston.
Waiting time is pretty long if you order take out food. Be prepared to wait approx. 25/30 min.
Really good sushi! I loved the food and thought the fish was really tasty and fresh! I'm coming back here again.
Had a negative experience here. Food is mediocre at best, especially for the cost. Service was rude and unattentive. Hoped I could enjoy dinner with my friends here but we all left unsatisfied. There are better Thai/Sushi spots in Boston area.
Curries here are tasty, the carb ragoonn are really good. The sushi is not so great here too much rice. The khao soi is okay but too much of the same bite needs some veggies.
Great food, super quick service
Favorite sushi in the area. Sushis taste amazing, so are the prices. I definitely recommend the all chef’s rolls.
Very dysfunctional system with takeout and delivery orders, particularly with sushi orders because they are incompetent. I came here on 3 separate occasions and waited over 45 mins. for my order to be ready by the promised time and it wasn't. If you order sushi and entree items, the hot items will be cold by the time sushi is complete. Do better!
Went in for lunch Sunday at 1pm. Just before our food arrived, we were asked to move to another table so they could sit a party of four. No big deal. We were surprised we were charged the dinner prices even though the lunch prices were on the menu and nowhere did it indicate they did not honor the lunch prices on a Sunday. It made the experience annoying.
Restaurante vietnamita en Jamaica Plain en Bosto . Buena relación calidad precio. Ambiente tranquilo y agradable
WORST EVER.. SLOPPY PRESENTATION , ESPECIALLY FOR DELIVERY. OVER COOKED SALMON, CLOSE TO SHOE LEATHER. BEEF WAS SHOE LEATHER TOUGH. SLOP IN A BOX. GO BACK TO SHOE MAKING OR WHATEVER TRADE YOU KNOW HOW TO PRACTICE. DO THE PUBLIC A SERVICE, LIKE TRUMP, PLEASE, PLEAD GUILTY, AND FACE THE CONSEQUENCES.
-The staff are completely rude. It was raining, asked for a bag with handles since I was walking and they told me no, they don't have any . I point out bags with handles.... then all of a sudden I can have one? -Once I did get home, found a small bug moving on the napkin when I opened the bag. Disgusting.
-Your order is never ready on time, always takes and extra 20-30 mins...
-Never Again, Even If Its FREE
Comfort Thai in JP.
We love coming here for their unique take on favorite dishes, fast and friendly service, and reasonable prices! Don't leave without trying the Thai iced tea!
I get delivery from sweet rice all the time, and finally dined in. I love it so much. What can I say, except that I order from there so often and am often craving their sushi. The berry crab rangoon are also divine, you NEED to try them.
Great food, large portions and excellent value for price. I usually get delivery but occasionally I go into the restaurant. It is small but very quaint like most places along Centre Street in JP. They only serve beer and wine.
Awesome tasty food. Steak is mouth watering good.
The berry crab rangoons were fantastic. Will def order again!
Tasty dishes and sushi. Quick take out! Will be back!
Great food and staff.
Really disappointed. Recently put a takeout order in on Sweet Rice's website. Food was not ready until 20 mins after my order was placed, paid extra for mango in the salad which wasn't there, menu says spicy scallion roll comes with spicy sauce, no sauce. Will not be back!
Excellent for Red Curry with Spicy Chicken
Very good. Some of the best sushi in the area. And good Thai too.
I like a lot of the dishes here colorful with nice presentation and interesting spices. The sushi side isn't very good. My big complaint is when you order an appetizer the main dish always comes out when I'm a quarter the way through eating the appetizer. This isn't the ground round. Let your customers enjoy the meal at a civilised pace
I’ve come here a few times and every sushi role has been so good! The Mackerel is honestly one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. Make sure to get the dumplings and end with mochi ice cream! The spicy yellowtail roll and hungry dragon role are my favorite go-to’s and pictured below. The rainbow roll is the middle roll and it was delicious and safe option if you’re just starting to eat sushi
It’s crazy that I order here and have yet to rate it. I know they have a lot of great stuff but my go to is the pineapple rice with fried shumai and fried ice cream for desert. PERFECTION every time
Great pad Thai. Also love their berry crab Rangoon! They even offer a combo of the two.
One of the workers is very rude.he doesn’t know how to talk to customers.very sorry that u have that guy there.personally I’m never going to come again.thank you
Delicious, classy yet casual. Definitely coming back to try more plates.
Not a good choice if you need a good service, and wait 30 min or more
Our favorite place to eat
Great food, fair price, vast selection. Lively place!
The gyoza was good but the pad Thai tasted as bad as it looked. The fried chicken was also not tasty. I wouldn’t try it again but if you feel inclined maybe get something else on the menu.
Not too pricey and the menu isn't overwhelming. We enjoyed the Thai pancake and a couple sushi rolls. Not necessarily authentic or varied like a true sushi place, they were pretty good. It's a casual place, not date night but not Chinese takeout either. Weird that they had FOX News on a big screen over the sushi counter
Wonderful, varied menu with 4 crispy duck preparations. Tamarind Duck was delicious along with a small bottle of ice cold sake. The atmosphere in Sweet Rice was calming and quiet. The service was excellent. It is located on a main corner in Jamaica Plain making it easy to pick up dinner there too. A fine choice for Thai cuisine.
Great sushi and thai food! Great atmosphere with tv to watch the game!
Honestly average tasting Thai food that hits the spot when I have a craving for pad Thai without leaving the neighborhood. Have not had their sushi so unable to comment.
Loved it!! So does everyone else!!!
Amazing food, calamari was great, satay was super moist and tasty. Spicy beef salad is 🔥.
Good
Great Thai sushi restaurant in a suburb of Boston. Never had Thai food in my life until I came here and tried Pad Thai food for a dinner course. Go check it out if you are near this suburb.
Don't get the "sizzling beef!" I have had delicious food here, but this meal was very dissapointing. "Sizzling beef with mushrooms in oyster sauce" contai\ned a few pieces of grey beef (apparently boiled or steamed, not stir-fried, and certainly not sizzling), and some canned button mushrooms, in a watery sauce that tasted like the liquid the mushrooms come in.
A Perfect place to visit if you want to try both Thai and Sushi! We ordered the Tom Yum soup, Thai chicken wings, Teriyaki chicken(I know, right), Chicken noodle soup and the Crispy chicken drunken noodles. The Tom Yum soup was amazing! Wings are good. Drunken Noodles yum and the Chicken soup noodles- Teriyaki simply outstanding! Absolutely worth it. The portions are too good for the price! A must visit if you are craving for some Thai food and around the area.
Gave few chances to this place because it used to be one of my favorite local places to eat around JP. Today the costumer service was very ridiculous, we get there when they were close and we were asked to leave and come back which we did. Then, we got back at 3:55; 5 minutes before they supposed to be open and the girl was very rude for absolutely no reason. It was very uncomfortable. Another time, I messed up my order and told them I will pay for it and order a new one, but they insisted they will prepare a new dish. They only took the chicken out and refried the same dish. I am pescatarian by the way.
I would highly recommend this place, get the Thai Pancakes, you will not regret it
Recommend the sushi bomb. Chicken crispy basil is delicious!
Great place for date night.
Very delicious
Great food, good prices and good service
The red curry was decent and mild, and pad Thai tasted like how pad Thai supposed to taste. The disappointment was the vegetable spring rolls. The flour wrapped around were too thick, it’s not even crispy anymore, and pretty bland.
I would stick with curry if you stumble upon this restaurant.
We went in for lunch, excellent food and service.
They seem to have forgotten about me…. My friend’s order came out but 25 min of waiting for my order and still nothing. Everyone else here has food including the party that came after us. :(
I like to give a place a few tries before reviewing-well, I have received a few good orders from Sweet Rice and a few really bad orders of old sushi that was inedible. Maybe because I ordered on Thursday but this restaurant needs more consistently good sushi for me to order again.
I eat here every month or two, and usually I find it a pleasant, inexpensive, neighborhood place. Today I had their tofu pad thai. Whatever you do, don't order it. It is three pieces of tofu and a pile of rice noodles in a weak peanut butter sauce, no vegetables to speak of. Maybe they were having an off day, but what-was-served shouldn't be on a menu
Solid noddle options and really good curry!
Definitely worth a visit. We love the scallion pancakes here and the Thai iced tea.
Terrible service. Three of us having dinner and they only brought the food for two. The third meal did not arrive until the other two were done. They could have at least compted us for the third meal but they did not even do that. They knew we upset so comping would have been the nice thing to do.
The food here is delicious, reasonably priced, and fairly portioned (I always bring home leftovers). And if something says it has vegetables…they mean it and don’t skimp! There are only a few tables, but there is ample bar/window seating so it’s luck of the draw if you get a table (or just go in at 5:30 like we did!). As a repeat customer, I definitely recommend this restaurant for Thai food.
The food and the Service was very good 👍
It was just ok
Not satisfactory.
We ordered pad Chai chicken and green curry.
Pad Thai was using the wrong noodles, texture was dry and clumpy, no greens, way too much bean sprouts in my opinion.
Taste wise quite nothing to write home about.
Green curry was okay but lacked depth, aubergine was not fully cooked through
but hey its hard to mess up a green curry... Right?
Solid 3/5 for me. Not very authentic
