Classic Thai fare including curries, seafood & vegetarian dishes, served in a simple storefront.
The Taste is situated in the heart of Amherst Center, offering a pleasant dining experience with good service and a minimalistic yet modern decor. It appears to be a family-run business, and the staff are both professional and knowledgeable.
I ordered the Basil Fried Rice, which was reasonably priced. While the portion size was a bit small for sharing, it was sufficient for an individual meal. The dish had a nice kick of flavor without being overly spicy.
Overall, The Taste is a solid choice for Thai food in the area, whether you're looking for a casual meal or a relaxed date night.
I've been here twice on two different trips to Amherst! Every dish was a delightful journey into the vibrant and complex flavors of Thai cuisine.
Starting with the pumpkin curry, it was a rich and aromatic dish with the sweetness of the pumpkin complementing the warm Thai spices. A very comforting dish! I couldn't resist trying the Pad Thai, a classic Thai noodle dish, which did not disappoint! The Siam rolls, we're one of the crispiest things I've ever had! The contrast between the crunchy exterior and the tender, flavorful interior likely makes them irresistible appetizers. I regret eating them all in one sitting but I knew they would be good in a hotel microwave.
The chicken coconut soup, made with a creamy coconut milk base, kaffir lime, tender chicken, mushrooms, and other herbs and spices infused the broth with layers of complex flavors, creating a comforting and aromatic soup that warms the soul. Lastly, the Thai-style basil chicken pan-fried dish was flavorful with tender chicken, aromatic Thai basil, bell peppers, onions, and chilies. This is also a staple of mine when visiting a Thai restaurant and I loved this one!
The service is great, very quick, and polite! I will return here whenever my next trip to Amherst is!
Came here while visiting friends at UMass. Seemed like a pretty cool place. I got the Massaman Curry and it tasted pretty standard. Great thai food in general, but the wait times were pretty long. It seems they're understaffed -- a lot of people came in with take-out orders and there was only one lady balancing that and all the dine-in orders :(
This place has always been amazing I’ve been coming here since I was a child and they never disappoint! The food is always great quality and extremely delicious. Never once have I gotten anything cooked badly in the decade + I’ve been eating here. Their meats and vegetables, their appetizers, salads and drinks, literally everything is so so good!! Definitely worth the price and worth a visit I really hope this place never closes shop they’re one of my favorite restaurants to go to.
I went to this restaurant with my girlfriend on December 15th, 2021 and it was also the first time I asked her out. My girlfriend loves curry and I thought this restaurant would be an excellent fit since they have numerous curry options. The price was relatively cheap, the picture shown below is Pha Thai, which costs 8.95 during lunchtime, which is a pretty large portion for a poor college student. When we got there, nobody was there other than the lady who worked there. My girlfriend and I loved the atmosphere, music, lighting, food, and her mango curry. This is a perfect place for dating. Thank you for making the best experience for our first time!
Incredible chicken Pad Thai. Have ordered take out a few times now and its consistently fire! My go-to Thai joint. Give it a try.
My experience at The Taste Thai Cuisine in Amherst, MA, was a mix of highs and lows. While the food had its moments of delight, the overall experience left much to be desired.
We decided to opt for take-out and ordered the fresh mango roll, chicken red curry, and fried rice. Unfortunately, the fresh mango roll was a bit of a letdown. Despite its name, there was hardly any mango to be found. Instead, it was overloaded with cabbage and carrot, making it taste more like a vegetable roll rather than the delightful mango-infused treat we were expecting.
On the brighter side, the chicken red curry and fried rice managed to impress. The flavors were bold and authentic, and the chicken was tender, making the curry a standout dish. The fried rice was equally satisfying, packed with rich flavors that complemented the main course perfectly.
However, the service at The Taste Thai Cuisine left much to be desired. When we arrived around 8:40 pm, the establishment was already preparing to close at 9 pm. We inquired if they would still take our order, and they assured us it wouldn't be a problem, saying they would close around 9 pm. We were cautiously optimistic but proceeded to place our order. The confusion arose when we asked how long it would take to prepare the food. They mentioned it would be ready in 20 minutes. This raised a concern: if the restaurant closes at 9 pm and the food takes 20 minutes to prepare, we were unsure when we could actually pick up our order. It seemed like an organizational oversight that marred the overall experience. Additionally, when we requested plates for our take-out order, we were surprised to find that they had run out of them. This lack of basic supplies detracted from the professionalism of the establishment. The Taste Thai Cuisine in Amherst, MA, offered a somewhat mixed experience. The lack of mango in the fresh mango roll and the absence of plates were noticeable drawbacks. However, the chicken red curry and fried rice did manage to salvage the meal, displaying genuine Thai flavors that satisfied our taste buds. Nevertheless, the confusion over the closing time and food preparation left us feeling somewhat dissatisfied.

Good service, and meals came quickly. Seemed quite a few things were unavailable for some reason.
Food was good though, good portions and very good value.
The woman running the entire front of the house is a superstar. The food is fabulous too. Go! Enjoy!

Food was absolutely delicious, but we waited well over an hour for our food at a table of 5.
Food was great, ambience was great. Only one server in the place, person should come and ask how food was much sooner than end of dinner.
The food was good, the noodles amazing. The only issue was we weren't informed that a part of our order wasn't available until all the food arrived, which means one person in our party had to sit and wait for a really long time until something else could be made. If you're out of something let us know right away.

Great food. Wonderful service. 5 stars all the way! Best restaurant in Rio Rancho, hands down.
We always make the trip to come here, even if it’s out of the way — the food is ALWAYS delicious. Particularly love the mango curry!

Do not order the pad Thai or mango curry. I am saving u money.
Delicious Thai food. Don’t sleep on this restaurant.
Ordered during lunch time $15 for mushed up together bad Thai with dry chicken and almost no sauce or flavor. Spent $30 on pad Thai just for it to come out with the noodles stick together and truly almost inedible. Complete waste of money. save your money and don’t bother
Very charming little restaurant in downtown Amherst. Always enjoy the food, my partner is obsessed with Drunken Noodle and this place passed her quality control with flying colors. Very clean, warm atmosphere great for a date night or a casual outing.
Had the thai curry with chicken. Most likely the food was unhygenically cooked or they used stale ingredients. It led to stomach upset for 3 days. Would not recommend it to anyone
Amazing food and consistently good service.
Nice clean, comfortable and cozy environment. I had the Siam Duck and it was amazing! Attentive waitress as well.
Loved it here. Perfect ambiance, the best pad see ew I've ever had, and the thai iced tea slapped as usual. Really lovely service too!! :)
Food is good. But I was very surprised, and disappointed, to find that the level of covid protocols were more appropriate for March 2021 than May 2022. Masks required for the 5 second walk to your table. Air filters and fans drowning out the music. QR codes in place of regular menus. The atmosphere was a bit depressing.
Overall excellent.
My group’s orders came out surprisingly fast, and all of the dishes were absolutely delicious. The portion sizes were also perfect. Highly recommend!
We love this place!! Such a great night out. We have been dining here since they first opened and it gets better every time! We love the new drink offerings and the service is always very pleasant and attentive. We will be back for sure!
Excellent Food
Tasty thai restaurant in Amherst. Nice environment and good service. Try the dumplings!
Pad see ew is my all time favorite dish and this place is the best I've had in New England. Very pleased I stopped here!
Liked chicken coconut soup.
Be careful. First time ordering. Food tasted odd, vegetables weren’t fresh. I ordered Tom Yum fried rice for dinner. Morning after, food poisoning. Just be careful, I’m sure that’s not always the case.

Great food, lovely ambiance, cordial staff & the right quantity
Good food!
Good taste! Vegetarian options are also good. Loved the service.
Best pad thai I have ever had.
Quaint Thai restaurant in the heart of Amherst. Good food at very good prices.
Yup
So tasty and quick service too! Loved the interior and decor details of the space as well. The staff were very helpful as well, thank you!
The place does not super-size - the quantity was just right. Food was good too! We ordered mostly vegetarian dishes and mango curry - all quite good!
Great taste! Both my daughter and I love it.
Nice place good food, really good curry.
Solid spot for a weekday lunch! Staff is always friendly.
This green curry (I added tofu) was AMAZING!! I am so ready to come back for more and try other dishes.
Great thai food! Discovered this gem post covid so I have not been able to dine in but, their takeout is fantastic! I have always struggled to find good thai -usually finding places that are very expensive or lacking in the bold thai flavors. The Taste Thai Cuisine has failed to disappoint. They make a great green curry (a go to for me), and all their seafood platters and soups have been fantastic. I have been slowly going through their menu and have yet to find a dish I was disappointed in. If you're looking for some good takeout in Amherst this is a sure bet!
I love Thai food, so this would be my go-to Thai place here.
Great authentic Thai cuisine
I’ve been coming there for the last four years! The food tastes great! And the quality is consistent which is important. Thank you!
Country style pad thai. Probably the best on the planet
I am not a fan.. the food is mediocre, and for the price, the portions are quite small. I've never left satisfied.
The yellow curry with tofu is impeccable!
I love the food here! I feel it is a little over priced but the food is delicious!
Pumpkin curry was nice :)
Lovely food. And so nice people..
Great food, nice service, reasonable prices.
Ordering online is super easy - and we've never disliked a dish!
Best Thai food in the area. We usually order to go, but the dining room is nicely decorated, clean, and cool on a hot day. The pumpkin curry and country-style pad thai are our go-to favorites, but the whole menu is good!
Great food
Not my cup of chai
The food and price were good. But the portion is a bit too small.
Great curries!! Nice environment and good portions.
Food was great, love the feel and decor. Staff was a little brisk, but the place was full so I won't hold it against them. Definitely will be coming back
Great spicy food!
I pretty much just go here strictly for lunch and always get their pad that but it's the best pad thai in the area.
Consistently fresh and good.
Best Pad Thai and Pad See Ew I’ve ever had and nothing compares EVERRRR. Lunch specials are $10.95 !! Dinner takeout is sublime and quick ✨✨✨ their tofu is unlike any other tofu. Most likely going to crave their food forever.
When my family visits, it’s my sister’s number one request, especially the spring rolls that they serve piping hot and with delicious sauce.
This place has really great lunch specials. They’re reasonably priced and everything tasted really good. Cashew nut beef is highly recommended, but the red curry is good as well! The special comes with your choice of pot stickers or Siam rolls. Recommend you upgrade the rice to sticky rice for only a dollar. Definitely a good place to have some decent Thai food.
The Siam Rolls are good but the Pad Thai is the driest, most bland Pad Thai I've ever eaten. The only flavor is that of the slightly burnt, but equally as bland, chicken and the mushy peanuts dumped on top; and the only vegetables are two large, odd chunks of dirty celery.
The Pad Thai was so disgusting. Expensive.
Very tastey!
Excellent service and delicious food !
Red curry dish delicious. We also ordered Cashew Nut with vegetables and pineapple but it couldn't compare to the red dish. Luncheon special came with a cashew salad dressings, two small spring rolls and white rice for $8.93 per lunch plate.
The staff wasn't overly friendly or quick / responsive in taking our order or bringing drinks out. Eating here was particularly stressful, because my family was trying to eat with a small child who upon arrival was thirsty. After waiting over 10 minutes--I had to get up and ask for them to bring over waters for us. The restaurant wasn't busy. There was just 3 women talking to each other by the front desk. Eventually they stopped chatting, and one brought over waters---but it was really uncomfortable. Then they went back over to talking. And eventually our food came out. I wouldn't eat here again. The food wasn't anything special.
Mostly great
good food
Great food very reasonable prices
Tasty food....loved it...😋
We ordered take-out, large order, about 15 dishes, they were right on time with our pick up time, the staff was attentive, and very gracious.
Also the food was delicious, some very picky eaters in the group and everyone was satisfied. Generous portions, great flavors.
Huge thank you to the staff for their hospitality!
Great food and friendly service at a good price!
Enjoyed the lunch menu. Was a pretty good deal. I got the green curry and thought it was pretty solid.
Best Pad Thai ever. Attentive service as well as cool atmosphere
Good food and service. Probably the best pad Thai around. A little pricey, though, and small. The decor is cool though and it has a cozy feel. Check it out if you've never been.
Nice ambience n tasty food
The staff is friendly the food is really going on and the service is top notch. It's a hidden treasure
My favorite restaurant! They have great service and the people who work here are so sweet.
The food is really good. I would recommend the Pad Thai, the Siam rolls, the Rad Na noodles, and Kao Neow Sangkaya (coconut pudding with sweet sticky rice). The prices are really reasonable, the service was great, and I definitely plan to go back.
Delicious! Inexpensive, great service. Can't wait to go back!
One of the best Red Curry I'v ever had.
Great tasty portions could be slightly bigger
Marvelous. Aroi mak ti sut
The sampling if the red curry dish at the Taste was mediocre at best. Carrots with white rice, dried up tofu, and one small bamboo shoot. It had a distinct canned food like flavor. This dish lacked the quality I had expected.
great food
Good quality Thai food at a reasonable price
I like this place the food is always good and it's probably the best Thai food in that area. I always come back and would recommend it.
The food is always amazing and they are super fast. The drinks and desserts are good too, like their Thai tea, iced coffee, banana in the blanket, mango with rice,...
Very good food, but pricey especially for a college student. Small-ish seating area.
Fair price for delicious food. Pad Thai tasted good, but didn't have much egg, and it was just a plate of brown.
Love this place! Great staff and great, fresh, beautiful Thai cuisine. Go for lunch for a great value. Get the fried fish special appetizer ("Look chin pla tod" I believe it is called).
Came here for dinner with a group from a conference. Excellent customer service and amazing food!
