Authentic Thai Cuisine with street food menu
Delicious food and fantastic ambiance! Came here with family to try it out and we were amazed with the bright and eclectic decor and the mural of Thailand adorning the middle of the restaurant.
Strictly ordered off the street food menu. The appetizers were all stupendous but the essan sausages was outstanding and nice dipping sauce and veggies. Also tried the moo ping which was smoky and sweet, 4 skewers come in each order. One negative side is that their sticky rice has no fragrance. Also tried a new dish to me which was the dry curry beef, tastes good and spicy.
The food was very reasonably priced for the large portions as well! $7 imported beers and a beautiful bar with a decent sized TV.
Would recommend to anyone searching for a go to Thai restaurant, especially since that awful Tara Thai is gone.
Great dinner experience on a Friday night. Had 6 people so called ahead for a reservation at 6:30, it was full by 7-7:30. We ordered appetizers (chive cakes, papaya salad, dumplings, crispy spring rolls), entrees (pineapple fried rice, spare rib soup, steamed chicken over rice, ThaiRock pad Thai), and dessert (taro pudding and mango sticky rice). All were great; only one we might not order again was the crispy chicken rolls - bit dry. Great space, good cocktails/drink options, and good service. Will come back again!
First visit to newly opened Thairock in Rockville, previously known as Tara Thai.So they have new management and menu.Totally renovated from inside and out.Food is good ...had tried basil chicken spicy and Tofu with basil for lunch.Price is decent, will try again.
Bottom line it was fresh, tasty and good portion.
Well well what do we have here. A definite contender for the better Thai restaurant in this area. Good location with plenty of parking space. Food was pretty authentic and nicely spiced. Service is warm, efficient and welcoming. Can easily recommend to anyone looking for good Thai food.
We had a really great lunch here today!
Everything came out fresh, promptly and the service was top notch. They helped w my crazy son by getting the high chair on time, replacing utensils that fell, etc.
The food was really good-
Chicken pad see ew was not overly burnt or too sweet (just like in Thailand!!)
Pork belly and Chinese broccoli was tender and pork was crispy!
Chicken over rice dish tasted so authentic (really u should try it) and a generous soup size on the side!
We can’t wait to be back!
Thairock is an absolute gem in Rockville! The flavors are authentic, bold, and perfectly balanced. From the creamy, aromatic curries to the perfectly spiced Pad Thai, every dish is a culinary masterpiece.
The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. Whether you’re a Thai food lover or trying it for the first time, Thairock is a must-visit. Highly recommend the Tom Yum soup and Mango Sticky Rice for dessert! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I've been here a 3-4 times since the remodel. It's gorgeous, great vibe, and awesome service. The food is beautiful presentation, delicious, and tastes amazing. Last time I got the chicken and rice, but it wasn't quite like original khao man gai – the chicken was yellow and tasted like turmeric. Still, five stars.
Tu our server was amazing, speedy service and very polite. Great food and staff. Also Loved that it wasn’t loud
Great menu and very smart renovation! The staff is extremely friendly. The crying tiger steak and crispy duck were outstanding! Great value!
Our server was not trained in the art of socialization. In spite of that, the food and overall experience were great.
Had such a great experience the other evening with Nattie taking care of us that we decided to return this evening for our wedding anniversary! Tanya R served us the Tom Yum Chicken and Tom Yum Shrimp as a starter before Chicken Satay as the main course. The Rose-Colored Lychee Tini was awesome and we again enjoyed the Mango sticky rice for dessert (excellent)! We'll be back next week to try additional menu items!
Me and my wife have a dinner at Thai rock the foods is so delicious and the drinks is so fantastic service is excellent all the staff is so friendly the owners dawn she is very nice the place is atmosphere I will come back very often
Finally!! A real Thai food. Excellent all around.
Thairock is always a great go-to Thai spot. You'll never go wrong here. The food is always fresh and so tasty and the drinks innovative and flavorful. The service is always wonderful and everyone is always friendly, I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will visit again.
We went yesterday for dinner. We booked it. Upon arrival there was a huge waiting, but because of the booking she took us to the table they reserved for us. Service was great and server was very polite. We 5 of us were vegetarian, she suggested the choices also. Food was DELICIOUS. All 3 types of soups and then 4 main courses were excellent. Cherry on top, one manager gave us the history of the pictures on the walls. I will go their again and highly recommend it to others to Enjoy the ambience , food and the service.
Food not the best. The environment/furnishing is kinda cheesy considering the food price. There are many more great Thai food choices in Rockville.
My wife and I checked out THAIROCK for the first time a few nights ago. We came away pretty disappointed. Seafood Pad Thai was absolutely awful. Shrimp were very tough and rubbery, scallops had no seasoning whatsoever and tasted bland and the squid was the worst offender because not only did it not look the part, it had a very fishy taste. My wife's Pineapple fried rice had the same rubbery and tough shrimp issue (overcooked). Their prices of about $20 each for these dishes are too high for the food to come out so subpar. Our waitress wasn't very friendly and having worked in the restaurant industry for a number of years, I see picking up the signed check before the clients depart as poor etiquette. The interior had a nice, welcoming layout and the tables had a good amount of spacing between them. I think that if their service and food quality improves, this will be a very decent spot for Thai food.

I had Thai fried rice there. It was really delicious and reasonably priced. I'm going back for more!

Really great Thai food. Friendly staff. Worth the money.
Beautiful ambiance, delicious food, fast service and very kind staff! Great job ThaiRock.. I’ll definitely be back!
Great New Thai restaurant.
Beautiful interior, good service, quick food preparation.
Tom Yum and Drunkin Noddles were Amazing!!!
Get the Hoy-Jor, best fried dumplings ever!!!!
I love the restaurant new concept, beautiful inside really family friendly too. Server explained what’s in the ingredients of the dishes we ordered. Everyone must try Laos Som Tum tray. We will definitely go back there.
Dinner was delightful. I was pleasantly surprised, the decor was simple but elegant, atmosphere was very inviting and most important, the food was excellent. We had the Duck Roti, Larb Gai, Crying Tiger Steak, Panang Curry, Drunken Noodles and Pineapple Fried Rice. My test for any restaurant is whether I can taste the individual elements of each dish and have them all work together in balance. Thai Rock aced the test and more. Thumbs Up!
The interior is very bright and welcoming. Papaya salad, Chicken Panang Curry was really good. Pad See Ew and their duck roti roll was mediocre, and something that I would avoid in the future. Mango sticky rice is the usual except they had fried lentils for texture, which was very pleasant.

I came with my family and we ordered about six dishes. Not only were all of them delicious, but they were also authentically Thai, speaking as a Thai person myself. For dessert, we had the Thai tea bread pudding. While it’s less traditional, it was a delicious and unique twist on classic bread pudding that I highly recommend trying. We also loved the atmosphere—the restaurant is spacious with lovely decor, making it a great place to dine.
One word to describe the food: SPICY
Best Thai food ever
Excellent food with 4 levels of spice from mild to Thai Hot, first time we had the normal as the menu suggests spice level, second time asked for Thai hot! There is a difference lol. Best Thai food we have had in DC so far.
Delicious food and fantastic ambiance! Came here with family to try it out and we were amazed with the bright and eclectic decor and the mural of Thailand adorning the middle of the restaurant.

OMG! I love everything about this restaurant!
Love this new place! Food is amazing along with great service. Everyone seems to help everyone out. Food came out quickly and hot. Will be coming back soon!
Authentic Thai cuisine with a mix of Thai classics and Thai street food. Beautiful decor in a great location.
A lovely restaurant with great tasting food. Very impressive. My only problem was that we got there on a cold day and every time the door opened we could feel the chill and that was not comfortable. I kept my coat and scarf on and that made it difficult to eat the food and enjoy it fully. I do highly recommend this place when the weather is pleasant!
The atmosphere of this restaurant is wonderful. Plenty of space, high ceiling, large windows looking out, and amazing decorations. With a parking garage next to it, free parking should never be an issue. I ordered the green curry with scallops which was delicious. I paired this with a Singha beer. For dessert, the slicky rice and mango was awesome. Definitely looking forward to dining here again in the near future.
Stopped in for a late lunch, ordered the fresh garden rolls, the Tom kha with chicken, and a painkiller. Food was delicious! The garden rolls were very fresh and the sauce was yummy. The soup was very tasty and a generous portion. The drink was strong! My server, Lita was wonderful and so kind! I had to ask for a bit more pineapple juice lol! I will be back!

Dinner was delicious! We loved having the option to select level of spice - especially important for the kids in our group. Everyone loved it! A great addition to our community!
Food was delicious—spicy w/complex flavors. Highly recommended.
Food was delicious , the and the staff was very kind and friendly.
Everything was great. Loved the crispy duck.
Good food🍖, Good service☺️ , Love it ❤️
Thairock is a fantastic addition to the Rockville dining scene! I had the chance to try their Pineapple Fried Rice and Mooping, and I was absolutely blown away. The Pineapple Fried Rice was perfection—perfectly cooked rice with a delightful mix of sweet pineapple, savory spices, and just the right amount of seasoning. Every bite was bursting with flavor!
The Mooping (grilled pork skewers) was another standout. The pork was tender, juicy, and beautifully marinated, with a smoky, charred flavor that made it absolutely irresistible. It paired perfectly with the dipping sauce, which added a tangy, slightly spicy kick.
The atmosphere at Thairock is warm and inviting, and the staff are so friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Whether you’re a fan of Thai cuisine or new to it, this place is a must-try. I can’t wait to come back and explore more of their menu. Highly recommended!
I don't eat at Thai restaurants much since my [Thai] wife cooks it at home, but I just happened to join a friend and his family for dinner at THAIROCK on its opening night and it did not disappoint! Very nice modern theme with hints of Thai culture and scenery weaved in. We were quickly greeted (including by the owner, Nick and the manager), seated and served. The well stocked bar was run by a bartender not scared to put a Thai twist on drinks (like the tamarind old fashioned!). As for the food, one can tell a Thai restaurant's authenticity by the details of the food preparation. Grilled Thai Beef Salad (Crying Tiger) actually had the toasted rice powder in it and the mint leaves to the side while perfectly grilled medium. The Crispy Chive Dumplings were a nice twist to the steamed versions I've had in the past. The Ka Noom Jeeb (shu mai) were huge and came with their house-made sauce. The Chicken Satay was juicy and in big portions. The noodles in the Pad See Ew were perfectly sweet/sour/savory-balanced and caramelized while the veggies were still crisp. The kids got Crab fried rice, which, unfortunately I can't comment on since the they ate it all; however they said it was awesome. Finally, the owner, Nick came to check up on us and send us off. Great experience at THAIROCK. Wish I took pictures but I guess you will have to check it out yourself! Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.
We visited Thairock on the first day of opening and we were very impressed. Nice open space with very nice ambience. Plenty of parking space. We parked in the garage right behind the restaurant and it has almost a direct access to the front entrance. Very convenient. The staff was well groomed and was very friendly. The food tasted great and authentic. My daughter go-to dish is Pad See Ew and she said it's by far the best she ever had anywhere.
We would definitley come back again. This has just become our favorite Thai restaurant in the Rockville area.
I highly recommend coming to this establishment, the food tastes pretty authentic to the country, and the servers are amazing and very accommodating. I highly suggest that you try this place out.
The food here is amazing, the service is outstanding. Highly recommend.
I walked in to put an order in for carry out. Very friendly staff, offered me ice water while I waited. Food came out quickly and was very tasty. Really well-designed space, I look forward to going back for a sit down meal
