Orchid is a Vietnamese and Thai restaurant that I will greatly miss as a Bates student. Despite being a bit pricey, the food is undeniably worth it. The sushi rolls are particularly impressive, with flavorful combinations and extremely generous portions!

The friends in my party all had something different, whether it was Thai, Vietnamese, or Japanese. The service was excellent, and the wait for the food was not long at all. It's within walking distance of other Lewiston businesses as well. Highly recommend for the service, speed, and quality of food.

The food had flies in it. I asked the waiter to change it and he ignored my request. I felt racist. I will not come to this dirty German place for the second time.

The restaurant was dirty and the hygiene was very poor. Went to the hospital immediately after finishing. It was horrible.

I typically love this place. My wife and I eat here frequently. However my most recent experience was just awful.

The noodles we get (Pad Thai) usually rich cream and full of flavor, were dry and taste only like peanut butter. The Tom Yum soup, tasted like tomato soup. And was a fraction of the size it normally is. We ordered 2 drinks and never got them.

It wouldn’t have been too bad of an experience, however when we called to rectify we only got through three times, the first I was told “1 minute” and hung up on and then the second and third time it rang to a full voicemail.

One bad experience shouldn’t define this restaurant. That being said we won’t be dining with them as frequently as because of it. Hopefully I can have a redeemable meal. I’m only posting this review because I was unable to contact them directly after multiple attempts. 16 phone calls within one hour.

Hands down best restaurant in Lewiston for sushi. Ordered takeout and arrived later than the time it said to be there. Sushi roll was not made yet but was very good and a good portion almost too big, too much salmon honestly but good flavor. texture was slightly soft and mushy had to chill in the fridge before eating. I’d save 4 dollars to get hannaford snow fox sushi. Only 6 dumplings in the steamed pork dumpling order expensive for cold flavorless dumplings partner says he has had better frozen dumplings. Egg rolls were good but you only get 4 for $9 that seems pricy as well. 3.5 stars

Vegan friendly- Loved this restaurant in the center of this cute little old town. Found several Vegan option like Vegan Gyoza and Tempura Veggie Sushi Rolls. All veryvery good. The staff was adorable too.

My boyfriend and I went to dinner for Valentines Day at Orchid! We were seated right away and greeted with smiles 😃 The decor was comfortable and happy, with lovely flowers on each table! The extra effort is noticed 😉 We ordered Shumai for an app. Which came out fast and hot, whilst having a full restaurant! We loved the minced garlic and chives on top of the app. I ordered Noodle Soup and added chicken. The chicken was moist and delicious. My boyfriend ordered the Spicy Tuna Rainbow Roll. We both agree it was fantastic, and generously portioned! We have a new favorite spot ❤️ Afforable, Clean, and great atmosphere 👌 Not forgetting to mention the Complimentary Valentines Strawberry Shortcake Desert, which was very tasty 😋 mmmm TOP NOTCH!!!

This place is incredible! The service is great and is pretty fast considering how everything is made to order. The younger guy we had serving us gave us fantastic recommendations - I'll be coming here as often as I can! It's a little on the pricey side but worth the money!

Some things were overcooked, others undercooked. Small portions. Overpriced. Parking sucked. I won't be making a second visit.

They are very friendly and their food is great. I go here regularly. I would recommend the red curry, pad Thai. Basil friend rice, and pad kee mao. My only reasoning for not giving 5 stars is their portion of pad kee mao is extremely small and spice level can be inconsistent.

What I liked about Orchid was the time between ordering and arrival to the table was prompt. The dishes were hot (meaning they didn’t sit in the back for 10 minutes).

The seating is limited, but I actually think this is a good thing in that the service is really good.

We tried the spicy salad, white and green dragon, massaman curry, fresh rolls, and basil fried rice. Wasn’t disappointed with any of them. They could put a little more wasabi on the sushi roll, however.

Some of the interior looks (along with the seats) could be updated and a second entrance door added to eliminate draft for those seated closer to the entrance (like we were).

Pretty flipping happy with it…super delicious!

I always love my meal at Orchid! On our last visit we ordered the kimchi udon and they were happy to substitute the tempura shrimp with tempura chicken as we couldn’t have shellfish. We also ordered chive cakes and kao soi chicken which was lightly spicy with crispy noodles on top. So delicious! And the service is extremely friendly. I definitely recommend you check them out the next time you’re Downtown!

2nd time this week ordering from them because they're SO good! We did order a lot, but both orders were entirely different and everything from the sushi, to the Tempura Udon, to the egg rolls was amazing. Not an ounce of disappointment.

The place was great. Our waitress was nice and checked on us frequently, very polite. Our food was fantastic, everything was fresh, you could tell by the textures of the vegetables and the protein. I also ordered sushi, the tuna I had was also very fresh, nice and smooth, sticky rice was cooked perfectly. Everything came out in a timely fashion and we were more than pleased. Only complaint might be the size of the place given the location, would be nice if it had a few more tables. Definitely worth ordering for pickup if you can't or don't want to sit and eat. Would definitely go back.

This place was incredible. As good if not better than anything in Portland. Complete gem and the reason I'll now start driving to Lewiston for food!

We've been to Philly and New York but literally the best Thai food I've had hands down.

Love this spot, it is very small but I say screw it! The owner is mad cool to talk with, and the sushi chef is funny as hell. It is fun at the bar, you get to sneak a peek into how your dishes are prepared. It's very intriguing how the kitchen works back there, it's seems like a great team. Great food, service, and atmosphere! 🤘

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Lewiston! Amazing food, friendly staff and great atmosphere. I cant recommend it enough. Orchid has become my second home!

My husband and I went for a quiet and enjoyable dinner. I am not into anything spicy. I asked the waitress if my meal was Spicy and she said no it wasn't. She also.put down just one star for spice. When we took our first bite my hubby loved his and mine to me was Spicy. I was going to eat it anyways. The waitresses heard our conversation and saw my reaction to the meal and quickly took it from me and had a new dinner made with no star spice. She was very observant. Because of her I really enjoyed my meal.

What a wonderful restaurant! The staff is friendly, efficient, and attentive. The food is varied - and everything is delicious. I’ve tried everything from pad Thai, to sushi rolls, to curries, to noodle soups…and have yet to be disappointed. If you’re looking for a good, comfortable place to eat in Lewiston, go to Orchid! I know I’ll be back again soon.

The food here is incredible, but by far the best part of being in the restaurant is the staff. They are wonderful, kind people who go out of their way to make you feel welcome there. The meals are delicious- the fried rice and curries are the best comfort food. 12/10 would recommend

I ordered my delivery over 30 minutes before my lunch break and they were 45 minutes late. When I called to see where my food was, they told me I would have to wait another 15-20 minutes. The food was absolutely not worth the wait either. Don't bother ordering from here.

I just paid $16 for this half full container of panang curry that is mostly liquid, with literally 4 pieces of broccoli, 8 pepper slices and a scant handful of chicken. There's supposed to be cauliflower, 2 kinds of cabbage and some other veggies that simply aren't there. What a ripoff!!!! My first and LAST time going to Orchid!

My boyfriend and I went last week and it was soooo good. We got a spicy tuna roll and a spicy crab roll. It was totally enough food as we did share. The wasabi sauce on the side was QUITE the experience. I probably won’t be having it again lol WAY too much for my first time!! You live and you learn. Great service and amazing sushi selection. Orchid used to be one of my favorite places in the LA area to go for sushi. While my veggie appetizer was delicious, my sushi was highly lacking and I will not be back if sushi is mg goal.

First WAY too much rice! I ordered a specialty maki roll that is a California roll in the center and topped with 3 kinds of raw fish (one of my favorites), think nigiri style over a maki roll. There was more rice than anything else. The center of the roll was just shy of being larger than a nickel what there was so much rice the piece itself barely fit in my mouth.

Second, I was once taught by a sushi chef from Japan that the trick to good sushi isn’t the fish but the rice. That the quality of the rice, consistency (how it was prepared) and amount make or break the sushi. On top of being way too much rice, the consistency was chewing and tasted off. It tasted as though they just grabbed regular old white rice and plopped it on... eww.

Third, the fish.... 🤔 can I call it that? There was barely any on it! Each piece of fish was only a tiny sliver! Like MAYBE 1/8” thick 🙄 even grocery store sushi is 1/4-1/2” thick. This roll was $13! And not unique to this restaurant... I’ve never been shorted like that on this order before! And I’ve ordered this same thing many times in the past.

Lastly, I asked for a small dish of spicy Mayo (in hopes of making it taste some what normal)... I was charged $1.50 for it!

I will say that everything came out in a timely manner. Presentation was good. And restaurant was clean. If you’re looking for non sushi food it’s still delicious.... just skip ordering the sushi!

The food was above average. The restaurant is a bit expensive. We had a Thai Noodle with calamari (forgot the exact name: last one from the list: flat rice noodle) and Tom Kha soup.

My lovely wife Laura and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary at the Orchid restaurant on 9/17/2019. Great service, great food and a surprise finish to our evening. Our waitress, Bridget, surprised the two of us with an incredible chocolate lava cake on a desert plate with the words, “Here’s to 25 more!” circling the cake with a big heart.

Although we were stuffed and already had the leftovers from our main dish boxed and ready to go, the cake was to die for. Hopefully, the Orchid restaurant and the two of us will be around to celebrate our 50th Anniversary.

Whether or not your night out is for a special occasion, add the Orchid restaurant to your list of places to go for great Asian / Thai food including sushi.

2019 update: still my favorite restaurant in town, three years later. Sushi is more competitive in Maine than it was 5-10 years ago, but Orchid is consistent and I've never had a bad experience after going 15-20 times. Best sushi in L/A. Also great massamsn curry, fried softshell crab, beer selection, etc.
