Your to-go portions are inconsistent in size. It's like you made it with ketchup. No heat whatsoever for medium spicy. Obviously the owner should stop being so pretentious and listen to customer feedback. If someone brings up Budsi's the response is always: it used to be better. I hear it all the time. The owner shouldn't live in denial, just fix things.

Food was excellent and the staff put up with our toddler. The spicy salad is indeed, spicy.

Food was absolutely delicious.
I loved the chicken satay, Khao soi, mango sticky rice, and Somtam Papaya Salad Set w/ grilled pork shoulder.

The salad def packed a little punch. I loved it, esp the crab flavor, but def spicy.

The grilled pork portion was super generous and well cooked. Not nearly enough rice to go with it (I finished only half the meat before finishing the rice). I'll make some more tomorrow to finish the pork, but will be missing their perfectly cooked sticky rice.

Diner Review №10

Wow. Food is on the mark and flavorful! I had the duck waterfall medium heat. Plenty spicy, and so good.

Diner Review №11

V-Good. Best Thai I've ever had. Bangkok Som-Tam is inspired. Most things here are well priced and remarkable. Continues to be a crowd favorite.

Diner Review №12

Diner Review №13

I like everything on the menu but if I had to order something right now, at this moment,
It would be the pumpkin curry.

Diner Review №14

Diner Review №15

It's probably the best thai in nola.

Diner Review №16

Went with friends for the first time. My sister ordered last and she got her food first. Everything came out at different times. Then they completely forgot to make mine. So my friends ate and 20 minutes later I got my food, after everyone else was done eating. Not a good experience, or any apology on their behalf. My dish wasn't spicy, but my friends stated theirs was very spicy. Due to the terrible service, we won't be back.

Diner Review №17

The food is ABSOLUTLY delicious. This was my first time there, the establishment is clean and comfortable, I would love to visit again. My reason for the 4 star is due to the 18% gratuity charged they impose for a group of 6 or more. They amount is fair however they don't offer wait staff, nobody came to our table to ask if refills on drinks not even the water or to ask about the food was or if anything else was needed. The only service provided was Cashier who charged us, the cooking of the food, and that our dish was brought to the table. I recommend providing wait staff or drop the gratuity.

Diner Review №18

Great Thai food in a big room with booths, tables and line-up service. Oh and a lovely bar along one wall! Really excellent vegetarian options. Get in early - there was a solid queue by 6pm.

Plat très bons et copieux ! Les cocktails aussi. Les gens sont très gentils. Vraiment une très bonne découverte , nous avons adoré !

Diner Review №21

Can't say enough good things about Budsi's. High quality, friendly, consistent, efficient, warm and delicious. Nearly impossible to get all of those at once anywhere else in the city that care forgot. We're down the street neighbors, so we're biased, but gah may Budsi's live forever.

Absolutely scrumptious drunk noodles. Very filling, phenomenal portion and I ate every bite. I also had a Thai gimlet which was tart and refreshing. I am so excited to go back and try their curry

Diner Review №30

Best Thai food in New Orleans. Possibly the world? One of my favorite restaurants/places on the planet. I’m just a better person after I’ve eaten a bowl of Khao Soi from Budsi’s.

Diner Review №31

Best Thai food in New Orleans. Indoor and outdoor seating. The pumpkin curry and the Budsi’s noodles are not to be missed

Diner Review №32

The best thai I’ve ever had in the states. So flavorful and delicious! Service was lovely, it’s casual dining so be prepared to order at the counter and seat yourself. Super friendly staff, chill ambiance. We’ll definitely be back whenever we’re back in town. Opt for Isaan style for anything you can. That fermented fish sauce is seriously delicious!

Diner Review №33

Excellent. Just delicious. Best food I had in NOLA tbh. If you're looking to have something good and spicy (and surprisingly affordable) this is the spot. I would def come back.

Shrimp made me sick and couldn’t leave my bed for 48 hours
Called and let them know and they didn’t care
Really hope no one goes through that

Diner Review №36

Budsi’s never disappoints. I visit every time I’m in the city. Their regular dishes are always tasty but it’s also worth to try the specials.

Diner Review №37

Royal pad thai. Spices are amazing. One of best we have ever had. The dumpling soup is beyond good I highly recommend

Diner Review №43

My favorite Thai restaurant in the city! I'm thankful I don't live closer because I'd eat there more than the once a week I currently do. Counter service, an open kitchen model and a full bar make this an ideal dining experience for me. Such powerful flavors, and you can see the amount of work that goes into it if you take a peek in the kitchen.

Strong vegan options, but you may need to ask, though there's a list at the counter. Drunken noodles, Thai fried rice and mushroom laab are high points for the vegan menu, but the Budsi Noodles are a must try if you are at least pescatarian. Their cocktail program and beer selection is some of my favorite for a restaurant in the city and accompanies the food menu excellently.

The only problem is seating, but this might be an indication of too good a thing. Many times I've visited to find them very busy while people linger at their tables a bit too long, leaving waiting customers hovering anxiously for conversations and drinks to finish. As a diner, it's important to consider the next person, but if it's not busy, definitely take your time ... it's a really nice place!

Diner Review №44

Got the pad Thai . It was so yummy. Lots of flavor and seasonings . Authentic

Diner Review №46

Go here. Great food for great prices and cocktails to match.

Update. Still great. Go for happy hour and sit at the bar for full service. Be careful when ordering Thai hot.

Diner Review №47

Edited to add that after speaking with a manager Elizabeth and receiving an apology on behalf of the staff who made this mistake, we have regained trust in this business. We were told that this is not how it should have been handled or how the owner would have handled it.
I am however going to leave this up as a reminder to those working in the service industry that ADA compliance is a very serious issue, and that no company policy can or should prevent you from observing it.

Strong communities hold each other accountable and to high standards of kindness.
Glad to see Budsi's is making the right move to be community minded. We all need it a little more these days.

Original review:

"Absolutely appalling abelist behavior from the staff here tonight.

We tried to bring my partner's 84 year old grandmother with very severe mobility issues to eat here, as we love this business and would love to keep supporting it.
However the actions of the staff tonight are completely inexcusable.

We took the long slow walk from where we parked a block away, got up the stairs to get in and she was so exhausted she needed to sit down. But she was excited to try the food and said it was worth it. (The physical effort it took her to get there.) With two very bad knees and her weight, it's very hard for her to get up and down from sitting to standing so we found a table, and asked a server for permission for her to be able to sit while we stood in line and ordered for her. We know you order at the front. We come here almost weekly. There were 3 people ahead of us in line and 5 empty tables inside.
We were informed by first Yang, and then the manager on staff Tyler, that she would have to get up and stand in line to order, so that the three people in front of us, who were all in the same party, could have their pick of, again, the FIVE available tables. We informed Tyler that this is a medical issue, that she was already exhausted, this was a rare treat for her to get out of the house, and that we would appreciate the exception to this apparently dire company policy, and that this was actually a matter of ADA accessibility.
Tyler then laughed at this 84 year old woman and informed us that because the building is a historical site they do not have to be ADA compliant. I get not building a ramp, or having wide doors. But this was not an architectural issue, it was a matter of basic human courtesy from a company that I thought cared about the local community that supports it.
For the last two years since first eating here I've brought clients to this space as it was a local business that I believed deserved the support. I cannot say we will ever feel comfortable supporting them again, knowing now how they treat the elderly and disabled. I hope the owner is not complacent with this behavior and will take steps to correct it in future. Having no exceptions to a rule like this, in the year 2024 is unconscionable."

We ordered the pork dumplings, waterfall duck, and pumpkin curry with fried soft shell crab. Everything was delicious- well seasoned, not greasy, and unafraid of fresh herbs. The spicy dishes are definitely approachable, staying within the lane of American hot instead of Thai hot. The heat slaps your taste buds a little bit, but doesn't fully annihilate them. It's also quiet enough to have a conversation without yelling across the table and not so dark that the visual aspect of the meals are lost. I am writing this review after having a delightful Budsi-rita.

Diner Review №61

This place is the best Thai I’ve ever eaten. The pumpkin curry is spectacular!

Venia caminando desde el Mural de Bechet (clayborne & st. Anthony), con calor y hambre... Entré de casualidad y me llevé una grata y reconfortante sorpresa! Excelente comida y mejor atencion! Lo recomiendo!!!

Fantastic Thai food, great venue out of the main touristy track . Well run restaurant , steaming hot tasty food .

Diner Review №65

Wow love their food.

Diner Review №66

Probably the best Thai I have ever had. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, food came quick, and was delicious! Wish we were in town longer to go a second time.

Diner Review №67

The food was good, nice location, and great outdoor seating, though a bit loud.

Diner Review №68

Frequently order the delicious pineapple curry. The price is reasonable and the portion sizes are moderate. Eat here often, highly recommend!

Diner Review №69

Best Thai food in New Orleans. It reminds me of home, very authentic. My favorite Thai restaurant. (I recommend Papaya Salad combo with grilled pork and sticky rice, green curry, coconut soup, waterfall pork, everything here is amazing)

Diner Review №70

Diner Review №71

What a lovely surprise! By far the healthiest meal I et in Louisiana. Lovely atmosphere -- attentive and friendly service. But the food! I never had a green Thai tea before...I doubt they have it in Thailand! I did have some disappointment feeling when I didnt see ko soi, but then -- amazing! -- it was a special! With duck! Outstanding. We had triple duck -+ ko soi, drunken noodles , and other noodles. And the bok choi to start with was super good and garlicky. What a nice meal !

Diner Review №72

Great Thai food. I've been here several times and never disappointed.

Diner Review №73

Everything about it is good. Food, atmosphere, workers, Location. I can't find a better Thai restaurant in Louisiana

Diner Review №74

First I will admit the flavor of my tom kha soup was over the top. My issue is you pay 15 dollars for your soup you would think there would be more than two tiny shrimp in your soup as well as the two tiny shrimp in my red curry. 30 dollars for my meal with four shrimp over all. Or am I just tripping?

Diner Review №75

Too salty, hibiscus tea very sweet have eaten there before and was very good

Diner Review №76

Omg soooo good! Definitely a must try. Their noodles & mango sticky rice are to die for!

Diner Review №77

The food was authentic and tasted awesome! Service was lacking once you sit down. No one to refill drinks, I assume you have to get up and ask, but I didn't try.

Everything was soooo good! The mushroom laarb was amazing, the drunken noodles were delicious and everything is priced really fairly. The cocktails are also tasty and well priced. It’s fast casual service, but with a really cute atmosphere. This has easily become my favorite Thai place in the city.

Diner Review №91

This is our go-to place in NOLA for Thai food - simply wonderful! Today at lunch, however, a woman was yelling throughout the open kitchen and the acoustics took her voice into the dining area. Very unpleasant. Please don't yell in the kitchen!

Diner Review №92

Generally the best Thai near where I live

Diner Review №93

This is one of my favorite spots in the city! The moment you walk in, you can smell deliciousness in the air and they never disappoint. Since I'm still getting into Thai food, I always order one of their daily or weekly specials. Last time, it was the crispy duck pad thai. AMAZING. Atmosphere-wise, it's super casual and can probably use a little updating in the furniture, but honestly the food is so good that I don't care. As long as them flavors keep slapping my tastebuds the way they are now, they can count on my business haha. I have yet to try anything I didn't like, including the cocktails. The staff has always been friendly and I like that they offer to-go containers that are environmentally friendly. The pricing makes for a great lunch with friends or small outing with coworkers. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Diner Review №102

Aghhh 10/10. Truly the most authentic Thai I've ever had - exceptional spice is perfect (my son ordered "Thai Spicy" and it was unbelievable too). Budsi's does it RIGHT. We ordered A LOT for just 2 people - two spicy Upcountry style Papaya Salads with tiny raw crab and crispy pork - HEAVEN ON EARTH ... we ordered green curry with shrimp, the spicy flank steak salad, and the Khao Soi with a soft shell crab on top. From the flavors and textures to the amazing ambiance and the beautiful bar, I can't get enough of this place! Ya'll go check it out! Located on the corner of St. Anthony and N. Rampart, super cool vibe w/outdoor sitting if you like. Reasonably priced and GREAT service!

Diner Review №103

On a road trip east to west and this is one of those places where you say years later do you remember that Thai in New Orleans. I wish there would still be more of these kind of Thai around. Excellent food very affordable.

Diner Review №104

Family run Thai spot, we came because my friend had been craving it for a few days. Our previous attempts were foiled by the weather so we drove this time. Came for a late lunch but they still had a decent crowd eating and drink at the bar. We ordered at the counter for our number and found an empty booth. She got the Pod kra pow and I got the larb. She swears her Pod kra tastes just like what she had when she lived in Thailand. I'm not that well traveled but my larb was really good too. It's economical too, I'd come for lunch once a week if I could. Enjoyed it with my Japanese beer I ordered at the bar.

Diner Review №105

AMAZING curry! I tell you… We have traveled the entire country and ate at many places and this restaurant is now in our top 5 for sure. We went for the pumpkin curry, but also discovered the (even more delicious) pineapple curry. The meal was $30, and drinks were only $16 for 3 of them. I definitely recommend this place to anyone, and will be coming back again soon.

Diner Review №106

Diner Review №111

Some friends who visit NOLA often recommended Budsi's to us, and we loved it! The food was outstanding - very flavorful and nicely presented. It's counter ordering and table delivery, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The cocktails rate a mention too. We got a Sazerac and an Old Fashioned and both were really good! Best of all: food and cocktail prices are very reasonable. For the quality of the food, it would be tough to beat the price. Excellent, authentic Thai food at a bargain. If I lived in NOLA I'd be a Budsi's regular.

After a long day at jazz fest we were excited to grab some Thai food and this place did not disappoint! The papaya salad was incredible as well as the hibiscus and Thai tea! We also ordered the green curry and Tom yum, which were good and hit all the flavor profiles, but could have been more spicy! This was one of the best meals we had in NOLA.

Diner Review №131

Hair in food, no utensils for a to-go order, only hipsters and weirdos dining in. Not authentic, pass.

Diner Review №132

Great casual dining spot just outside the French Quarter. We had a pumpkin curry softshell crab that was out of this world but they have more traditional thai dishes as well.

One of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans. I always take my friends here when they visit and always recommend people that are visiting the city to come here. Excellent Thai food and excellent service. I’ve tried so many things on the menu, but I would be fine saying that safe to try anything and that it would be good. I always order softshell crab entrées if there are any available.

Diner Review №142

Hands down best Thai food in the US! Such depth of flavors!

Diner Review №143

Comfort Thai food

Diner Review №144

Love this place! The food is consistently delicious. Kind of a fast casual style, you order at the counter and pick a table. If it's very busy there might be some pressure from staff to leave your table quickly after you eat, which I don't love, but understand. But you can linger if you sit at the bar, and they have great cocktails!

I felt compelled to write this review because of the immense impact the customer service at this restaurant had on me and my friends. I was visiting New Orleans last month for a wedding. In searching for new and interesting places to eat my friends and I came across this restaurant. At face value, everything was great—relaxed atmosphere, good music (primarily R&B), and delicious food.

HOWEVER, after spending over $70.00 on 6 dishes. It was brought to our attention that every last dish we purchased was cooked with or contained shellfish. I’m allergic to shell fish. Upon requesting to speak with the manager in regards to switch out ONE dish for something made without shellfish. We were met with the most INSENSITIVE, CONDESCENDING, and PREJUDICE response from the manager on staff. She never asked if I was okay or needed additional care. She instead re-enforced their ‘No accommodation policy” as it pertained to allergy related food illnesses (which, might I add, was NOT LISTED ANYWHERE ON THE MENU; but instead, is written on a small piece of paper above the register— at a register surrounded by multiple hand written specials). Upon explaining to her that we missed the advisory notice and found the notice NO WHERE on the actual menu, she then in the most condescending tone replied “Well, it’s Thai food. Everyone knows there is shellfish in Thai food.” As to say it’s our fault for never having experienced a Thai dinning experience. If that wasn’t enough the manager then jokes about my possible allergic reaction by suggesting that I get shrimp as a protein for the replacement dish…

This was the most unprofessional dinning experience I’ve ever witnessed. We were so shocked at the treatment of this establishment and felt completely un-welcomed. Our willing patronism of and joy in trying this this restaurant was shattered so much that we had to leave. After requesting the replaced dish and being berated by the manager. She then proceeded to stare at us from behind the counter… This was the final straw that told us that not only was this not a safe space but that we needed to leave immediately. So to that we packed our food up and left. Unfortunately we did not feel safe eating the food that was so graciously prepared by the chef of this establishment. I hope no-one ever has to experience what we experienced at this restaurant. I’m sure the food is delicious but we will never know because we were run out of the establishment before we could even taste it.

Diner Review №151

Not good - in exchange for lack of flavor they make everything way too hot / spicy, and not a flavorful good delicious spice, everything just had an aftertaste of heat that made my mouth burn. Spring rolls were small so too much dough vs filling and oily. They were out of chicken satay which seems very odd for a Thai restaurant and they did have other chicken available so why couldn’t they satay some for us..? No actual salad on the menu or greens available at all which was disappointing. The food came out in reverse order - entree 1st and then spring rolls which was weird…Service also wasn’t good, people weren’t friendly at all like other places in New Orleans it seemed to be an overall snooty vibe for a low end quick serve type restaurant w bad food, would not repeat. Some menu items have a little hot pepper emoji next to them - a universal sign indicating "hot / spicy". I specifically did not order one with the pepper emoji, so when my main dish came very spicy and I asked them about it, the woman in a very snarky tone said "you should have known it's spicy based on the name". I replied saying "it doesn't have a hot pepper on it" and she didn't apologize or try to be nice at all, kept a sour look on her face the entire time. Would not repeat nor recommend.

Diner Review №174

One of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans (along with Dong Phuong and 1000 Figs) because the food is authentic, portions large, and food prep times short.
Under Issan foods, the fermented bamboo salad ($8) and soup right above it ($14) are not recommended. The dishes are well made, but they are an acquired taste. The cashier described it as a fishy flavor but more it's more accurate to say its an anaerobic fermentation (rot, a similar taste class as many pungent cheeses). Cashier told us there was no refund and as an adventurous eater (locust, goat brain, intestines/organs), I thought he was exaggerating a bit. He was not. I took leftovers home and will eat it...probably

Diner Review №175

One of my go to thai places in New Orleans. I love their drunken noodles, their beer selection and the cocktails. Delish!

Diner Review №176

The food here is so good. I had the waterfall pork, and it was so intensely flavorful and delicious. I can take a fair bit of spice, and this dish at the normal level was spicy for me. They let you make dishes even spicier according to your tolerance, so if you're tired of Asian restaurants watering down the spice level for Americans, don't pass this place up.

Diner Review №177

This restaurant was recommended to me by a close friend. The line was long, so I had my partner try to sit at a table for us. She was told to leave the table, and that it was only for customers who had paid. That was fair, but the man that told us to move was rude. He looked at my partner and I very clearly upset. We still ordered food, and the same man served us our food very rudely, not looking us in the eyes or conversing at all. We asked for extra plates and while putting the plates down he pushed them in front of my face. Our food was amazing for the most part, but when I brought my left overs home… I opened the chicken leg on my Khao Soi and was it still raw 😭 overall, the food was great, besides the raw chicken. The service was just okay, except for that one rude man 🤷🏻‍♀️ and I’m happy I didn’t eat the chicken leg whole cause the pink on the inside made me sick just looking at it.

If you want decent tie in New Orleans, this is a great place to go. The wait for a table can be long, but well worth it. We had the Waterfall pork and Waterfowl duck special. Both absolutely delicious. It's a local hangout so you don't see too many tourists there.

In regards to authentic Thai food, 5 stars

After we placed our orders we chose to sit at the bar which where the bartender made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. He had no guests to tend to, after several minutes of him never looking at us, not even acknowledging our presence after we gestured that we were ready to order , we chose to sit at a booth. My girlfriend and I are bartenders, even on a Bad day at the very least acknowledge your guests and let them know you’ll get to them.

Otherwise, again in regards to food, I have zero complaints I even look forward to bringing my mother and grandmother who are from Thailand here.

Thai me up but don’t tie me down when it comes to a fare at Budsi! Located in the apron fringes of the Marigny you can experience a spice of life while in New Orleans. You will spill out over the waterfall pork or drown in love in the dumpling soup! The Bangkok styled cuisine is most definitely a best kept secret 🤫

Awesome food! I tried the mushroom larb and loved it. It’s close enough to tourist attractions to be convenient, but far enough from Bourbon street to avoid the rowdiness and crowds.

I was in New Orleans for Business and was looking for some Asian food for dinner. I ate the Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao!) and they were fantastic.
The real nice restaurant was full, no free seat so I took my dinner take away.

I was visiting from out of town and I’m very particular about Thai food. I only go to one place back home and they’re among the best I’ve had anywhere. Budsi’s rivaled my local spot. Flavor on point, dish size healthy, atmosphere chill. Everything we had was absolutely delicious. If/when I visit NOLA again, I will 💯 come back here to eat.

Best Thai restaurant in the South, the Popaya Salad is Hot & Spicy and the Tum Yum Soup with Chick is delish! Now after writing this I want to go there again!
