Their food is absolutely delicious, but they really have to figure out their takeout system. If they give you an estimate time, orders should be ready around that time, not 1 hour later. Its the only reason I gave them 3 stars instead of 5.

The mango salmon is my vote for the BEST dish in all of Louisville!!!! This reminds me of living in Atlanta!!!!! Excellent!!!! A must have!!!! No brainer will return!!!!

Had to try some Thai in our area and I had heard from a fellow foodie to check out “Simply Thai” in Middletown.

This location was easy to get too, easy to park, and the restaurant is nice and clean with a fun tropical theme to it. The staff were young, but courteous, timely and attentive. My wife has actually visited Thailand twice, and she was impressed with the menu selection and authenticity of our dishes taste and her sweet peach boba tea that she had. Which although the large tea was $7, it was VERY good, and I’ve had many a southern sweet tea too. She said that it reminded her of the tea in Thailand, some of the best she’s ever had! And we travel a lot.

We had just one appetizer, the “curry puffs” (picture taken). Which were very good, enough to share for two.
And although their food does not look like much, they are power packed with flavor!
The curry puffs were sweet, crunchy, and the cucumber dip was very good. Highly recommended, I bet the “satay” appetizer is also delicious; we will have to try that another time.

For the main dish, we each ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, at a spicy 2 (picture included). Again, the dish does not look like much and the portion was MASSIVE! Enough to make an Italian eatery blush. Honestly, me and my wife could have split it between the two of us, but hey, left overs are good too! Beware, I would consider spicy level 2 to be at the highest “spice” that most people could probably still find palatable but any hotter and your tongue will be in for a lava treatment. Unless you are into that, but if it’s your first time eating Thai food, stick to 0-2 in spicy. They will also give free samples of their spices to taste and choose which one you would like too.
Their menu was good, with many many options to add toppings, change meat to seafood to Tofu and even adding ingredients a plenty. They have multiple vegan and gluten free dishes and offerings too.
However, regarding their menu, you can also customize your dishes if you wish, but some of the additional toppings were expensive. Such as adding olive oil to your dish is an extra $1.50, or others seemed a tad bit odd.

I did rate the restaurant as a 4/5 because I am honest and don’t like to hand out too many 5/5s.
The reasons why I rated this 4/5 was because of a few reasons:
1. Seating in the booths was uncomfortable, with the bottom of the booths falling off or unglued every time I shifted I felt like it might slide off. Not the end of the world, but they should fix those ASAP.
2. Their drink menu leaves more to be desired. Such as more beer options, more soda options, or having sugar free options.
3. The Pad Thai was served way too hot! Not the “spice”, but the actual temperature of the noodles was borderline scolding. So much of it we had to wait to eat, or blow on them to cool them down. But once the temp went down after 10 mins, it was easier and more enjoyable to eat.
4. A better dessert menu could use improvement. Such as maybe frozen yogurt options or some sort of a chocolate delectable would be nice. But they only have sweet rice and a deep fried banana. I know most Thai restaurants don’t have much for dessert, but it could make for a fun way to differentiate themselves from their competition.

Check it out! It is good food! I hope they see my recommendations and consider solutions if they so choose too!

Really enjoy Simply Thai. The only issue is that they are often very crowded on weekends. However, the staff is very nice. Our server (Enjelly) was incredibly attentive to our food allergies and to make sure we had a good experience. The food was great, and the drink prices are reasonable--especially during happy hour.

Living out of state but growing up in Louisville, I know that Simply Thai is the go to spot for Thai food. It is delicious every time and the ability to pick your spice level and it be accurate is amazing. Even when you order late into the night, they still serve with a positive attitude and smile on their face. Every time my family and I come to Louisville to visit, Simply Thai is a must, you won’t ever regret going!

Love their Pad Thai, and the fact you can specify heat level from 0-10. Service was great.

Diner Review №19

Quick and efficient service. Our server was most hospitable and attentive. I ordered Panang with shrimp - very good - just a little too sweet. I wasn't happy with having to purchase rice separate from the Panang - alacarte. It seems Rice should automatically be included as a complete entree.

Leslie was an amazing server! The food is delicious. When you walk in, the restaurant has a very chill, very cool, casual chic atmosphere. The establishment is very clean and tastefully decorated. The star of the experience is the food though. I ordered the Kaou Soi and it was the most amazing dish! The spice to flavor ratio is perfect. Thank you again🔥🔥🔥

Loved my lunch here❤️

I have ordered for red curry with bamboo shoots, chicken and tofu. It was yum…yum..yum😋

For appetizers, if one needs to have a crispy and delicious starter Tempura Shrimp is something you should go for.

And I really don’t want to forget the Thai’s authentic pad Thai ..it’s yum too with crunchy peanut pieces in there 😍

All I am happy about my food is the calories😁 though they look huge they maintain the balance in calories❤️

Diner Review №31

Average Americanized thai food. Great portions (more than I could eat at one sitting ) but the taste was lacking. Had Tom Yum and Pad Thai. Nice atmosphere and service was just so so given the restaurant was almost empty and lots of servers around.

I highly recommend the chicken satay and pad see eiw (with chicken). I tried the curry puffs also, they were good but the chicken satay is the winner for me.

They also allow dogs on the patio.

Delicious! Great service.

Diner Review №39

The food is always fantastic. The service, on the other hand, was horrible. We waited 30 to 45 minutes to just get our drinks and then another 20 to even order our appetizers.

Diner Review №40

We eat here often and haven’t had a bad experience. The food and service are always great. Everyone is very friendly and whether we’re dining in or getting it to go, we don’t have to wait very long.

Diner Review №41

Last couple times service has been so so. This time I call to place a pick up order, got put on hold for 15 minutes so I hung up. Then called back instantly on hold for another 5 so I just quit. Been eating here for years but I think I'm done.

Diner Review №42

Quite possibly the worst Thai food we’ve had in America.

Diner Review №43

The good quality of the food was completely overshadowed by the worst service I've ever experienced. The waitress was rude and had to be told multiple times to bring missing items which were brought in late, throwing the napkins on the table ......and just general rude attitude of the staff towards guests.

Diner Review №44

Tried their loaded fried rice with spicy level - 4, and they were delicious. The portion size is enough for 2 average people, or for 1 if you are really hungry.
Starters we ordered were just like any other Thai place, main course was simply Thailicious.

Diner Review №48

We have absolutely loved this place for the 3 years we’ve lived in Louisville! How disappointing that when we came by for our to-go order things went south so easily. We arrived 45 minutes prior to the dining room closing. The very pleasant hostess invited us to have a drink while we waited (as we’ve done so many times). We sat for 5 minutes without seeing anyone at the bar, which was fine, as we’ve all had long days. Dude at the bar punctuated the experience! The bar prep was all covered up so we ordered two bottled beers to keep it simple. When we asked how his day was going, he said he was ready to get outta there. A couple walked in, saw us sitting at the bar, saw another gentleman eating dinner at the bar, and asked if the bar was still open. The hostess asked the bartender and he indignantly answered that it was closed. The pleasant couple left with no protest, and then the bartender asked the hostess in our presence why she would ask if the bar was open in front of the couple. Since he chose to make us part of his conversation, I couldn’t help but say “because the website says you are for another 45 minutes?” and my wife said to stay out of it. This place arguably has the best Pad Thai I’ve had in my life, but I’d fire his tail if he worked for me. We’ll give it another shot only because of our experiences to-date, but if it happens again count us out. - Disappointed yet Hopeful

Diner Review №49

Service was terrible. Waiter acted like he didn't want to be there. Waited for an hour on food and they wanted to charge extra for Chalua hot sauce. Wasn't at all busy as there were only one other table with guest. This is the second time we were there. Was bad first time, and this was worse.

We’ve been to this location almost every week since moving from Florida. The food is amazing here. We’ve gotten the same waitress the few times we went in for dining in and she isn’t the friendliest. We prefer to order and eat at home to avoid her. I highly recommend the food.

Diner Review №61

This used to be the best Thai restaurant in Louisville but the past two visits have not been great. Our last visit was on the 24th and we had to wait an hour for our appetizers, then another thirty minutes for our entrées. The soups were way too salty and pitiful, mostly broth with a few small pieces of vegetables. The entrées themselves were just not what they used to be, we've been going to Simply Thai for over ten years and they've changed their food a lot.

Diner Review №62

It is a perfect authentic Thai restaurant offering quality tasty food in town. I never had a such a good food anywhere else in Indiana or KY. I would highly recommend this place anyone who wants to try Thai food.

Diner Review №63

Diner Review №64

The thing that stands out here is the food and even though our server was a bit odd and the decor is dull and boring, you come here for the food and it's unbelievably good. I preferred their old location's aesthetic, but I totally understand the move. Getting your signs and storefront facing a main road is important. The pineapple chicken is a showstopper and the huge portion left plenty to take home -- happy to report it stayed wonderful even through the fridge and microwave. What a tasty dish!

Diner Review №65

How disappointing to order a favorite and end up with something far, far from satisfying. The only saving Grace from tonight’s meal was an adorable and hardworking server Phoebe. The proteins added to standard rice or noodle dishes is precooked and stirred in at the last minute resulting in poorly seasoned, over cooked, dry, tasteless meat. My party had a mixture of dishes including Chicken Pad Thai, a beef noodle dish and a shrimp rice dish. While the noodles were acceptable - not special in any way - the protein in each dish was inedible. I’d like to say we will try again but this is our second attempt to secure some decent Thai food locally. We will have to look further down the road.

Diner Review №66

Simply Thai be like:
You ordered spice level 3?!?
You get one speck of pepper. 🙄

Hostesses are snobby and rude at both locations. Avoid.

Diner Review №67

Today I am going to do a brief review about this restaurant that I visited a while ago and everything was amazing, today, May 19, I decided to visit it again and I found a disaster. I don't understand what made them change or if we are reducing the service... First of all, I bought a Tahylandesa Singha beer, which is a very strong beer with 5% alcohol and the third one didn't have any Singha in it. It made me very uncomfortable because the beer costs 6 dollars... your advice... Don't allow them to bring you the open beer.. managers, remember that beers bring up to 400% profit to your business, do not allow this to happen, when it came time to serve the food, my crispy tilapia was raw… please take it out of the freezer and put it in storage…, for me it was very BAD experience today they have 1 star.

The food was really delicious and my server was great. The Shrimp Dumplings (appetizer) are really tiny and my Shrimp rice had about 5 large shrimp on top of a mountain of rice. Overall nice restaurant but weird portion sizes.

While the service was a little slow even during rather not busy hours, I very much enjoy eating here. The food quality seems to be rather fantastic and the wait time is realistic given the number of active workers that were on duty at the time. So a good vibe for me I'd say.

Simply Thai in Louisville deserves a resounding 5-star rating! Our recent visit was an absolute delight, offering a delicious and authentic Thai experience. We tried a variety of dishes, and each one was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection.

Here's what we loved:

Basil Fried Rice: This dish was fragrant and packed with fresh vegetables and protein. The perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet, it was a crowd-pleaser at our table.
Drunken Noodles: The flat rice noodles were stir-fried to perfection, offering a satisfyingly chewy texture. The bold flavors and hint of spice were truly addictive.
Red Curry: This classic Thai dish was rich and creamy, with the perfect amount of heat. The vegetables were tender-crisp, and the curry sauce was incredibly flavorful.
Spring Rolls: These crispy appetizers were filled with fresh and flavorful ingredients. The accompanying dipping sauce was the perfect complement.

Owners STEAL tips from employees. They did this to myltiple employees over several years and if you spoke up about it you wrre fired in retaliation. There was a huge investigation done by the department of labor on this place and they were found GUILTY and given a hefty fine! Think twice about who you're giving your money to for mediocre thai food. Try somewhere else that treats their employees better and isn't run by terrible people.

Diner Review №96

First time here. I have limited experience with Thai food. This place is great. Gracious wait staff, a bit long until your food is ready, but it's worth the wait.

Diner Review №97

This was my wife's and my first time here and we are so happy with the service plus the quality of the food. I would highly recommend this restaurant when you want Thai food. This place has earned two new customers.

Diner Review №98

Just ok...food very bland

Diner Review №99

I always love eating here. Only drawback is that the online menu prices do not reflect the current prices - the dishes we ordered for carry out were $3 each more than what was listed.

First time eating here. Generous portions, affordable price. Pad Thai w/ shrimp & Pad Kee Mao w/ beef were good. Will return and try other dishes. Not as authentic tasting as Thai I’ve had in other parts of the country, but overall good experience. Would recommend.

Diner Review №102

Beautiful place, I love the atmosphere and the fish tank is gorgeous. The food is awesome, the variety of choices and different levels of heat is phenomenal. It's a great date night place to go to. Only reason I couldn't give it a 5 star is because I felt like the last couple of times I went the waiter/waitress' I got felt like they didn't want to talk to me or my wife. I understand to a degree, but eh the food was worth it!

Staff is nice & welcoming.

I look forward to eating here again!

Diner Review №109

I've been to this restaurant only twice, both this week. The first was with a friend for lunch at his suggestion. The food was great, reasonably priced, and the portion of the dish I ordered was very generous. In fact, I could only eat about half of what was served, and took home the rest, filling the take-out container to the brim. I shared some with my wife at home and she loved it as well.
The second trip was take-out for dinner one night. I ordered the same dish, thinking that it would be enough for both of us. When I went in to place the order, I asked if the take-out portions are the same as eating in, and I was told it was. Yet when the meal was brought out, I noticed that it was in the same size container that I filled with the remainder that I didn't eat during my first visit.
The dinner portion was $3 more than the lunch price, which is very fair. But to pay more for only about half of what I received the first visit, especially after being told the portion would be the same, feels deceptive. I'll have to think twice before going back. Btw, the food still tasted great, just not what I was led to believe it would be.

Diner Review №110

I live in Oregon so I honestly had low expectations for the sushi, but it was actually great! Nice place, nice service, good food. Would come back.

Diner Review №111

Diner Review №112

I unfortunately went to Simply Thai during Christmas time so it was very busy and the wait time was 30 minutes to which I understand the wait time given how popular it was.

I ordered the Spiced Shrimp and really enjoyed it. I love the presentation as well with the shrimps on top of the mountain of rice, how fun. For anyone that does enjoy spicy food and shrimp I recommend this dish.

If it’s your first time trying Thai food then definitely try the Chicken Pad Thai because it’s a good beginner dish when trying Thai food.

I did also notice there was wallpaper of Bangkok and decore of Buddha, perhaps Buddhism is popular in Thailand?

The server wasn’t consistent with seeing us which was disappointing but my recommend would be not to come during holidays and just go during the regular lunch/dinner crowd.

Diner Review №113

Pad Thai was good. In a world of shrinking portion sizes, it was decent. I shall return.

Not sure why, but went in to pick up an order and was not greeted, just mean mugged and treated coldly. I was like wow, she must be having a bad day. I then tried to send some positive vibes and say thank you have a nice day but was met with an eye roll and crickets. Well needless to say, as long as that lady is there, they have lost my future business. My theory has always been if they are rude to you for no reason then think about how they make or handle your food.

Diner Review №119

Diner Review №120

Food is really good. Wait staff could be a little friendlier. Mostly I wish it were open longer between lunch and dinner.

Diner Review №121

I've been to this place a several times. If they are not busy its pretty good. Last night they were busy. If you see this, do NOT go inside. The chicken was burnt and they poured grease directly into the container. It was not edible. This always seems to happen when they get a dinner rush. The kitchen cuts corners.

Diner Review №122

Diner Review №123

Thai Basil entrée was good & pineapple curry was the best!

Diner Review №124

I asked for Thai spicy 3 times: before, during, and after my food was delivered. They gave me green jalapeño chutney to spice it up. I threw away my leftovers. My food had ZERO taste from this place.

Diner Review №125

Have had take out but never eaten in. Finally went with my three sisters for a Friday night dinner out as siblings.

The atmosphere is a bit lacking, just generic all-around and more to eat and get in and get out, than to go to dine and enjoy your evening out, eating, drinking, etc. Food was delish, spice level was on point for my order. Got apps and mains, all were good. Our server was friendly and patient. Would return, but maybe sit out on deck at least to be in the fresh air?

Diner Review №148

I've dined here, sometimes eating in but usually getting carryout, for the past 10 years or so. Every single time, Simply Thai has been a satisfying experience. I love it so much that I am honestly not even open to getting thai food anywhere else but Simply Thai.

My favorite menu item is the chicken pad thai, which I will get around spice level four. Another good option is the chicken pineapple curry, spice level four; if you want to reduce sugar without sacrificing taste, it's also possible to substitute stevia for sugar (although the staff may get confused and need to confirm with the kitchen), which I recommend.

I definitely encourage you to go if you have not yet had the pleasure!

Diner Review №149

This was the first time here and will not be the last time. The food is absolutely the best . it couldn't get any better if I was in Thailand

Diner Review №150

This was our first visit to this location. My wife and I were seated promptly and the restaurant is very pleasant. The waitress didn't seem interested but brought menus and took our drink orders. The appetizer was ok but our pad thai was overcooked, musky and just not up to standards.

Diner Review №151

Food is always amazing here. It's the first time I visited the Middletown location. Had the wasabi dumplings, and I could have eaten at least 17 of them. Chicken Pad Thai add veggies at a 4 is the play. So good. Service was not the best. We sat at the bar, and the guy back there seemed annoyed and gave most of his attention to someone I assumed was a regular. We didn't get bad service, just not a warm welcome. The place is so awesome. We will def be back again and again.

Diner Review №152

Food was good. Service was terrible. Half of our tables food was forgotten and didn’t get it until the other half was finished and we were still charged a hefty gratuity. Wrong items were brought and items we didn’t order were on the check. No apologies

Diner Review №153

Fantastic food, but be prepared for a wait. I ordered a 45 on a scale of 1-5 and it wasn't hot enough, so they brought me some Trinidad Scorpion peppers and made it hurt me. Delicious.

Diner Review №154

Diner Review №155

Doesn’t get any better than this. Pad Thai was amazing

Diner Review №156

Diner Review №157

Oh my gosh! Simply Thai was SO good. 😊 my fam and i couldnt agree on what was the best because literally everything was delicious.
My step dad basically only likes burgers or Mexican, but decided to be adventurous while we were all on vacation... so of course we take him out to the best Thai in town (thank you Auntie for the suggestion lol). He was dipping everything in the peanut sauce that came with the chicken satay, and the sweet & sour that came shrimp spring rolls. Though i thought the shrimp dumplings with fried garlic and house sauce was possibly the most unique of the apps. The garlic makes it! Definitely recommend!
The pineapple fried rice was fantasic! Get at least a 3 on the spice level, you won't be disappointed. 😁
My fam is big, and sometimes loud, but the service was excellent, and super professional. If youve had Thai food before, or maybe just want to try, this would be a worthwile place to check out

Diner Review №158

Simply Thai says it is open until 9:30 p.m. on the door and on their web site. We got there at 9:01 p.m. and they refused to seat us. The manager said it was because customers stayed too long and they wanted their workers to leave by 9:30. I asked why they just didn't advertise that they closed at 9:00 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. no response, except we could get something to go. They weren't rude, they just didn't care. I have been going here for years. They lost a loyal customer tonight.

Diner Review №159

I ordered pad se wee and chicken satay. Chicken satay is ok. Pad se wee is too sweet and too watery. I think whoever cook at this restaurant doesn’t know how to cook pad se wee. May be they should watch on you tube. I am not a Thai. Pad se wee that I is way better than their pad se wee. Pad se wee support to be dry and chewy. I eat pad se wee all over the world ( seriously I eat pad se wee whenever I eat at Thai restaurants or Thai street vendors in Thailand). pad se wee at this restaurant is the worst. I don’t usually write negative reviews but this time I have to. Sorry I will never go eat there.

Very much enjoyed it and I am not a lover of Thai food. One frienx got a mountain of chicken fried rice she just loved, and another gor an inteeeating half pineapple filled with flavorful cashew fried rice with a chili sauce she said made a tasty addition. I grabbed appetizers authentic spring roll and egg rolls. Very delicate yet hardy. One came with a mango sauce the other a unique thin variety of sweet n sour with cruahed peanuts. I asked to hold peanuts on a seaparate sauce just for me since i cant eat them and it was perfect for the rolls. I alternated with the mango. For my meal portion I got a California roll with shrimp, tuna, and salmon added on top called a Rainbow roll and asked to hold the imitation crab. I picked a spicey mayo to go with it and it was devoured! So good! Pleasant staff and everyone was well pleased.

This place was phenomenal, from seating to leaving. The food was hot, fresh, and prompt. The basil chicken entree and curry puffs is a must. We will be back.

Went with a friend yesterday. We both had the Almond milk tea ! It was delicious! Beautiful ambiance ! Loved the location !

slow

Diner Review №172

Nice atmosphere, but had to wait to be seated while no workers acknowledged my family. Secondly, the food was NOT good. I know Thai food, my son-in-law is Thai and his family owns a restaurant. This was NOT Thai food!!! Noodles over-cooked, everything is WAY—-too sweet, and it he balance of spices are way off. I gave it a one star because I got my money back without a hassle.

Ask for medium hot, which turned out to spicy, music was to loud and the place was dark. Worst lunch ever, will not return !!

We used to enjoy this place so much, it's sad what its become. Bad, slow service and mediocre food. Tonight was the last straw. Called in an order and told it would be ready in 35 minutes. An hour and 45 minutes later the food was brought out from the back, but was cold. Obviously been sitting back there a long time, even though they told me they checked several times. My wife ordered beef salad with no heat, get it home and it's a 5. Straight to the trash. My chicken pad thai had no chicken in it.

I tried to bring an out-of-town vendor there for lunch last month and they said it would be an hour wait for a table even though the place was mostly empty. For lunch. Of course we left.

Way too many good restaurants in Louisville to give business to this place.

Wonderful food, very nice atmosphere, moderately priced. I'd recommend them!

Bland and boring. I've tried this place 3 times, and each time I'm completely disappointed by the lack of flavor in the entrees. I always give a restaurant 3 tries before I completely ban them from my restaurant list, and this is the only one I can think of. Go to Taste of Thai for exciting authentic Thai food with huge flavor with no disappointment.

Went for dine-in with my wife, yesterday for a celebratory occasion, and we were turned away for coming in 1.5 hours before closing time. We called the restaurant 2 hours before closing time and asked to make a reservation or to add us to the waitlist. They said that there is no wait time and no reservation is necessary. We arrived within 30 minutes after calling and the waitress was getting ready to seat us when the bartender told them “no more seating”. When we confronted for having called prior to coming, the waitress switched her response “Oh, we are not seating” 1.5 hour prior to closing. We asked why we were not informed of this when we told them of arrival time on the phone, the waitress changed her response “I didn’t hear the time”. They did not even offer to take to-go order! This is the second time we were turned away in last couple of months. The previous time, they said there is not enough staff to cover the table—again, after we called for reservation/wait time. Not deserving of even one star. There will not third time with Simply Thai.

I really, really wanted to love this place as it was recommended by locals, but it was super pricey for the quality of food we got. The shrimp steamed dumplings are Polly Pocket sized, the red curry was all - and I mean all bamboo shoots. A few pieces of chicken sprinkled in. Zero other vegetables. Pad Thai was also very sweet. Papaya salad was really delicious, as was the rainbow roll. Will definitely give it another try when back in town as I hope it was just an off night.

I would give a O star!!!
Never sit at the bar and have the girl take care of you - she’s very slow and lazy!!! Our appetizer was lukewarm and our food came out cold. Our waitress|bartender never asked if we needed our drinks refilled and never asked if our food was good - that’s when I asked to speak to the manager. The manager is no better! This is the second time we had the girl bartender wait on us - NEVER AGAIN!!!

Food very pricy

Diner Review №192

Possibly the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant. Service was awful, food was wrong for every member in the group, the bartender literally laughed in my wife’s face when she asked why her drink was half full, the drinks were beyond weak. To top it all off they added a 18% gratuity for a “large party of 6” with no disclosure on their menu.
Suffice to say we will not be back.

Best Thai food we've ever had! We usually get the pad thai, and it is so delicious! Their food is authentic, and we always get huge portions, which are the best leftovers ever. Great service, reasonable prices, and we love the atmosphere at Simply Thai! Try their Thai teas as well- they are awesome!!

Great food, lackluster service. I’ve gotten delivery once and take out once, both were great experiences. The Dine-In was lack luster unfortunately, brought my girlfriend and my best friend and his date; we were brought the wrong order and then they made a mistake with the checks - tried charging us for the meal we never ordered and the couple we went with’s sushi and drinks. A simple mistake I’m sure, but had I not double checked the receipt I’d have been SOL. Then the card was run wrong or something not sure. The waitress seemed very over worked and I felt bad for her. Everywhere is dealing with staffing issues. Please help your people succeed.
