Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese & other Asian cuisines offered in a quaint, vibrantly colored space.
I had panang curry at this restaurant.it was different than other restaurants as most come out as a liquid yellow soup.. this was in a flat dish and was heavy in vegetables.. far more fresh vegetables than at any other restaurant that I have been. I added seafood to it and had an acceptable portion of protein. price was about equivalent to other asian restaurants in the area.
I walked into this place for the first time tonight, a little apprehensive since I am not familiar with the cuisine and not wanting to bother anyone with too many questions. Jasper greeted me right away and set me up at a table, and was very attentive, helpful and personable. He answered my questions and checked if certain ingredients were okay before placing the order. I had shrimp spring rolls and Pho Special, and everything was absolutely perfect. Between the serving sizes, temperature and amazing flavors, I was overall extremely impressed with this establishment. I will 100% be back!!!!
I went for my first time as I was not feeling the greatest and needed some pho. It was the closest to where we were so we decided why not. We walked in and were meeted with a "seat yourself" sign. There seemed to be 2 guys running the room (our waiter and then another guy who promptly filled our waters and took our plates).
The food was great but...
The reason I'm even making this review is because they were so nice. Everything out of their mouth was just perfect. It was nothing short of outstanding. I voiced to my partner "they are so nice and have the best manners".
My partner said "I never leave reviews but I feel like we need to just because they are so freaking nice".
It was a breath of fresh air when we needed it. I walked out to our car and said "you can tell they are just good nice guys". For that, we will be back.
Good food. Staff were friendly. It's pricier than I remember. The food was delicious, but the portion was rather small. It's lunch but after the meal I was still hungry. They used to have big servings, but it's been awhile since I've been back. However, I recommend it for the friendly staff and clean eaterie.
We had a little bit of trouble finding the place but no big deal. BF had the Pho Special which he enjoyed. I had a small wonton soup, the broth was delicious. Also ordered the chicken lo mein and loved that it had the authentic chargrilled taste that I love. I added a bit of sweet and sour to it and it was perfect!
UPDATE: They took the Wonton Soup off the menu, saying "it wasnt very popular". Thats the main reason we got there. BUMMER 😢🍲
I ordered angry catfish with 3 flavor sauce and papaya salad with chicken wings combo. (Both items at level 4 spicy). They forgot my sticky rice but everything else was present. The flavorings is on point with the fish and chicken both extra crispy. The papaya has the expected funky scent but is not off-putting. Everything was delicious. Prices were lightly higher than expectation, but I think it aligns with the current environment so I can’t complain too much.

Papaya salad combo with beef jerky is always good! Best Thai tea in town!
The food, and service are outstanding. 11/10 would recommend.
They learn what you want always good service and advice on the food

The food isn't bad, but isn't anything to write home about either. It was average, accept for the beef jerky, it was overly sweet!
10/10 highly recommend!
Everything is absolutely amazing!!! Authentic at its FINEST! Seriously this place is an absolute must.
No customer service whatsoever. only 2 tables and they focus so much in one that they never bothered to ask if I needed more water or anything for that matter. I was behind that table lol. Food was ok nothing special for their prices.
Won't be coming back for sure. Tsing tsao sorry for cheating on you.

I love this place and am so happy they are on the east side. The food is absolutely top notch
We had not been here for a couple of years. The food is not as good as it used to be. It was very average. Small portions. Quite disappointing. I will say the staff was very nice.
Good food, and great staff. I will come back every time I come through town. Everyone there is always so friendly.
♨️♨️
The food was top notch AMAZING!!!
The staff very friendly and the place was very clean and the decor beautiful! Highly recommend!
Fu mara viuoso
Great food! Great Service! Always a warm welcome and automatically greeted! Small dining area but very comfortable. Highly recommend the riblets, papaya, and the millionaire soup! Prices were great . Keep in mind it's alot of food. Will definitely be back!
My wife and I continue our ongoing search for a good Chinese restaurant in Des Moines, and have come away disappointed yet again. It wasn't horrible, but the food was nothing special and the service kind of sucked. Definitely not recommended for vegetarians like my wife.
The first impression as already bad. We sat down at a four-top so that we could sit next to each other instead of across, as we prefer. There were many empty tables, so we didn't think it would be a problem. We were asked to move to a smaller table, and not politely. The new table was sticky. We asked that it be cleaned. The waitress gave it a quick wipe with a wet rag. Still sticky.
When I asked the waitress about vegetarian options on the menu, she didn't seem to know much, and got the chef. The chef was unaware that vegetarians don't eat fish, which is always a huge red flag. How can I trust that the food I'm buying my wife is actually vegetarian if the person making it doesn't understand the basic definition of vegetarian?
We determined that all the Thai dishes have fish and/or oyster paste in them, which is not uncommon, so that's all out. We were more surprised to find that most of the Chinese dishes also had non-vegetarian sauces. There were only a couple of entrees to pick from, and she ended up with Tofu Fried Rice.
There are other options out there with food that is at least as good, at lower prices, with better service, so we won't be coming back.
I just wish they still served Won Ton soup.
Great selections. Very friendly and attentive wait staff.
Simply delicious appetizers and entrees.
Super nice owner good place to eat !!
They are authentic and local owned serving up all kinds of oriental foods. My go to is the Pho. I ask for mine without the rice noodles only to make it no carb. They even do carry out.
Good soup
Quaint, casual dining area. Food was great, not super Americanized though-- so picky eaters looking for chicken nuggets in soy sauce might be hard to please.
Pad Thai was excellent. Pho special was amazing (steak, meatball, brisket). Hot and sour soup amazing, even for some less cultured folks.
Sesame chicken was a little bland, but I think it's generally meant for picky eaters anyways.
The best! Favorite restaurant in iowa!
We loved their pho, Panang curry and spring rolls! Our server was amazing and appreciate the service!
Good food. Staff were friendly. It's pricier than I remember. The food was delicious, but the portion was rather small. It's lunch but after the meal I was still hungry. I was only in Des Moines for one night and was craving Chinese food. Since I was traveling, I played it safe with chicken fried rice. It was easily the best I've ever had. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. Service was fast. I would definitely come back here the next time I'm in Des Moines.
Ordered ribblets don't know why dry hard as a rock. You would think they would be Asian style ribs nothing but dried up ribs
Young teenage girl working there was rude.Wont be returning
Best traditional chicken soup around!
Service is great! 👍❤️
Confused by my experience just like other low scores here... Ordered vegetable spring rolls but got shrimp (was replaced with no emotion after I found someone at the counter, but read on...), inquired for vegetable broth, got fish instead... No apology or notice for either, nothing... No silverware or napkins was brought before or after food was served, so we looked around after while & grabbed chopsticks we found, so shared those... No napkins still, so I asked again at the counter, to be told they "might not have any" - Never got a return checkup like, "I'm sorry we're out" or anything, simply kept chatting with the 1 other table during our visit, then even moved around table items on other empty tables... Not once was our table checked on... Had to go to the restroom for my family to get paper towels for napkins... If I was working, I would have been embarrassed, but AT LEAST would have done that immediately for guests... no greeting, not a thank you for coming when paid and tipped, not a slight sorry for the wrong food... Undercooked food... I'll stop there... Very disappointing... Very confused... Will not return...

The good here is a step above most Chinese places, presentation is well done. Highly recommend
The food here is absolutely delicious. I will be coming here often!
Awesome! Best Mongolian Beef, Crab Ragoons and Spring Rolls in town! Never disappoints. Very reasonably priced.
Great authentic Lao and Thai food. Nice and clean. Go check it out if you're in Des Moines.
Outstanding Pho.

Soups, rice and noodles dishes are very tasty. I’ve sampled most and have not been disappointed. Spring rolls are fresh and delicious.
I will admit that this is an above-average place which I'm not used to for this level of cuisine. Which means that I was not educated enough to accurately process the menu. But the food was really good and the service was above was really good and friendly.
This place is a gem. Great authentic Asian cuisine. We will be a repeat customer for sure.
Great service. Great pho!
I used to absolutely love this place, but it's been a while since I have been there, and this visit was awful. Ordered generals chicken, and they used like banquet chicken nuggets, the texture was disgusting. Now the egg rolls were still as amazing as they always have been. I really hope that the awful main dish that I got is only a temporary problem, maybe covid related. Because I have loved this place for a long time, and this is not the food I remember
We had what translated into chicken noodle soup with homemade rice noodles. SO GOOD! Absolutely going back.
Had pot stickers and pad Thai. It was amazing. Good portions, I left stuffed. Price was ok but food was worth it.
This place is very busy during lunch. I would recommend calling ahead for your take out order. Food was delicious 🤤
Not good service
Small portion for the price pay $10.99 for noodles Plus $3.50 for meat , order vegetable egg rolls supposed 4 piece end up with 2 pieces
The best place to get Boba on the east side the only complaint there schedule isn't the best
I came in that place and I had the pho special Absolutely delicious and I had their pot stickers and I in my opinion that the best pot sticker in the city And the place was clean it had cheerful people in there everyone was having a good time I recommend it for everyone
I am so disappointed as I used to mice this place. I came in today, first time since pandemic began. I arrived at 12:03. There were three other tables sat, a total of 11 people in all (myself included.). I offered at 12:08. At 12:39 my food came and it was not correct at all. I was told they’ll make again and it dill be at least 20 minutes because of to go orders. I said no, I have a 1 pm appointment. He then said to me that I can take the order to go but I must pay first. I said no. Cancel my order. He said my choices were to pay and take the food to go or leave and don’t come back. Well…looks like I won’t be going back to Rolling Wok ever again.
Service and food were very good. I would highly recommend.
Great authentic Asian cuisine. I got the papaya combo with chicken wing’s the papaya was on point! Would recommend.
Worst Chinese food ever. Ordered carry out tonight, sesame chicken. Tasted like dirty socks. Had to toss after one bite. Would never recommend
Great food
Food was excellent. Some of the freshest and best tasting Asian food I've ever had. Service was great and friendly. Definitely will be back and highly recommend.
Kao piek sen and egg drop are to die for! Always comforting for my sad cold sick days. The other dishes are so good this restaurant is a must try!
Consistently great.
This is one of the best authentic restaurants I’ve eaten. Anytime I’m too lazy to cook and wanted something satisfying and home cooking.. I know where to go…ROLLING WOK!
Food was good, hot, fast. Egg rolls & pot stickers were generous sized & plenty of meat. Great sesame chicken & I enjoyed Tom Yum soup.
Cute, new store on East Grand in an area of other businesses with shared, safe parking in back (it's tight, be careful backing out)
Great reviews though not consistent on mask policy. Waitress was very attentive & responsive.
We were really impressed by the personable young man who bussed our table & checked us out. Although we didn't meet him until the final moments of our visit, he made all the difference. If he is not the owner now, he soon will be.
This place is a home run! I highly recommend the Rolling Wok. If you find yourself in Des Moines make your way over. Easy to find. Easy to park. Excellent service and flavor! 👍🏼👍🏼
Took a 30 min lunch n went here it was quick customer service was great definitely coming back during lunch hour since it was quick and food was great!
Hidden gem. The food was great and the service was even better.
Always great every time we go. I am a Pad Thai enthusiast but am pretty picky with what I like, but theirs is always great. We get pho a lot as well, which is wonderful. Highly recommend :)
I came up from Tennessee for business and stopped here because I absolutely love a good authentic Asian meal. This was a real treat for me. Back home in Tennessee good, quality asian cuisine is pretty much non existent. Definitely recommend this place to anyone living in Des Moines or even passing through. Service was quick, the staff is extremely friendly and the food was AAA quality. Very impressed.
Food is SOOOOOO GOOOOD!!! We will definitely be returning!! This is without a doubt in my top 5 for favorite restaurants! A lot of places taste like it's thrown together or microwaved, but this place is definitely not that. very impressed and highly recommended!!
1) the people are awesome!
2) the food is fresh and flavorful.
3) you should have already tried this place by now.
4) if you take the last table, please save me "my seat"
;)
Delicious! Friendly and fast service.
Best Asian, Chinese and Korean other foods from southern Asia. We will be back again.
Very friendly staff.
Delicious food & courteous staff. 2 had the huge bowl of pho and 1 had another type of soup. All 3 portions were huge!! Had the bubble tea with jellies due to bubble shortage caused by the pandemic - still very good.
Come to this place with an empty tummy as you will fill it up!
Absolutely love this place. Just found the place a couple of weeks ago. We go at least once a week. Highly recommend!
Don’t go there!!! The food was disgusting, smell weird and was not remotely close to tasting like authentic Asian cuisines. The waitress forgot my drinks and did not check on my company and I for the duration of our meal. Horrible service and horrible food.
Wonderful friendly staff, and amazing food for all pallets. Traditional Chinese, Laos, and Thai food made well and fast. Two big thumbs up.
Really good food
Super friendly staff and the brisket pho was great
You should start Grubhubing agian or some other form of delivery
My mother loves their wonton soup and I really enjoy getting their laap. Too bad they're not open later into the evening since I sometimes work late but it's always the best when I do get to have their food. 🥰👍
Muy bien 👍
Delicious food with great spice!
Pho broth was really well done, with a generous portion of noodles and beef. Wish there were a bit more side vegetables, but that's okay.
I also ordered the fried chicken wings as an appetizer which were also really tasty and well done.
If you know what authentic SE Asian cuisine is supposed to taste like, then look no further. Rolling Wok’s curries, Vietnamese spring rolls and other dishes are spot on.
The pho broth was surprisingly under flavored, or perhaps mixed in an odd way. Probably a just a recipe difference. Huge menu with tons of choices. I especially like the option to add veggies to the pho. The service was excellent, helpful and welcoming
Was on my to go to list and I'm glad we went. I had the phone number one add seafood. The broth was amazing along with everything about the phó. The wife had the pad thai, also was amazing, every bite and consistency was perfect. This is a must go to we will be back for sure. The cook came out the make sure our meals were ok, was not only caring about what he was putting out for food but cared about his customers. Replacing one of my top 3 places to eat phó...
First timers - got pickup order for Thursday night dinner. Right on time & SO yummy! Best Chinese we've found so far in Des Moines area! Large menu to choose from. (Try the hot & sour soup - the best!) Will definitely order again!
Always great food and authentic
Awesome food
The service excellent, and the food was delicious. Thank you for the great service my daughter and myself were delighted.
Excellent service and really good pho I'm definitely returning to try everything on their menu
Great Asian food a little pricey but worth it
The best pho in Des Moines and great customer service..
Raw , bitter tasting smallest eggplants in green curry. I frequently eat Thai, this was the first time I saw anything like that.
Portion size was really small. They have a tricky menu. No other Thai restaurants in town serves curry charging additional $2 for tofu. It’s a basic ingredient in Thai curries. Come on- just add it to the menu price instead of tricking customers. Congested place and totally overrated. Will never go back.
Love the food!
Great food and service!
It was nice
Amazing food and quick service. We were there for a large birthday and they were able to keep up with all the orders. Food was coming out quickly and super delicious 😋. The waiters were on their toes all night serving all the guests. Also prices are amazing especially for the size of the portions that you get! Definitely will come back in the very near future!
Damn good potstickers
Was quick enough and staff were nice. But didn't get enough veggies
First visit here the Drunken noodles were fantastic as we're the pot stickers. Will be back for sure!!
The Staff is the best! The food is Amazing! The Mango Bubble Tea 😍😍😍! Keep up the amazing work you guys do!!!
Have never been disappointed with the food here. Great spot for lunch!
Great Asian food they have everything..
Very friendly staff and great food. Love the pork vermicelli noodle bowl
Shrimp rolls are tasty. They will not disappoint!
The best place I have found in for Chinese food!!
Orange chicken was bland tasted like plane breaded chicken.
This place is great. I had a few items. Their food is made with all fresh ingredients, cooked to order and it shows. Huge variety to choose from on the menu. I will be going back to further explore their many options.
Broad choice of cuisine, great tasting, and a wonderful staff!
Good spring roll and egg drop soup. A casual cafe with southeast Asian dishes. Not a big menu but adequate. Portion size not big. Bathrooms very clean
Amazing lunch specials. Fast service. Food is delicious
Nice food and good portions
This place is amazing and has THE BEST pho! Have eaten here countless times and never had a bad experience or meal. Service here is exceptional as well.
Excellent Pho!!
