We offer thai foods, Burmese foods, and sushi. We are located by East 86th street. We also offer take out. Thai restaurants, Burmese restaurants.
Mainly a Thai and Burmese restaurant, which also serves sushi. I had never eaten curry before, and it was too exotic for me to enjoy; family members seemed to enjoy the green curry and especially the yellow curry, tho. On the other hand, the Thai Fried Chicken was easy for me to enjoy, although the crisp breading made it a bit hard to eat. Nothing was very hot in spices here, although I'm sure you can order it more spicy hot if you want.
This is on the moderately inexpensive scale of restaurants, although I would rather go someplace with even lower prices. Much more seating inside, than what might be guessed from the exterior entrance.
I love going here because of exceptional service, very friendly, clean and homey. My favorite dish is Thai boat noodles , delicious , Thai fried chicken is very crispy and well marinated. The menu is authentic and various with love. Its hard to beat for Thai food locally but because of service and quality of food . I love coming back, definitely hidden gem
What a meal! Everything had a lot of flavor. Each sauce that came with our apps were amazing. I could tell the crab rangoon was made fresh compared to the frozen stuff you usually get. The samosas and dumplings were also delicious. Had a chicken curry soup (can’t remember name) and it was so good too, noodles had a great texture. The staff was very friendly. Minimal atmosphere but everything was very clean. No adult beverages if you expect that with your food, we didn’t even really notice because we were so focused on the flavors. Looking forward to coming back soon.
Was craving Thai since the early AM hours. This business opens at 10AM, so I was in luck!
Was greeted warmly. Waters brought to the table immediately, with menus. Ordered a spicy tuna roll, pad kra prao, pad kee mow, and mango with sticky rice for dessert! With tax came to $41.00. Not bad for two entrees, an appetizer and a shareable dessert. The sushi roll was soooo fresh and delicious. It felt like I was eating clean! The pad gra prao came with a fried egg, so good! Noodles were on point and made to the perfect "hot". The mango with sticky rice is the best I've had! I'll go here just to eat this!
I have a favorite Thai place that's my #1, however, this is my 2nd fave place now and a great option when my #1 is closed! 10/10 will return. Both employees were kind and had a positive aura about them!
Best Thai food in Indy hands down. To start we got the crab rangoon. Which was fresh and delicious. The chicken dumplings were scrumptious with a little heat. We also got the samosas. Which were hearty and very tasty. For the main course we spilt the Pad kra Prao. The spicy sauce its cooked in was fantastic. Definitely will be frequenting this place.
This cozy eatery offers delicious Thai and Burmese food. My Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) were perfect with the lots of crispy veggies and my husband enjoyed his Burmese beef curry. I tried a new food- fried opo (squash). It was crispy and included a spicy sauce. Will definitely be back for more!

Trust me - try the Drunken Noodles - will change your life
The Thai boat noodle is the best I have tasted outside of Southeast Asia. This restaurant has the best quality food with the best prices
Pad Thai was amazing; spring roll was perfect; service was fast; food was piping hot; atmosphere was quiet. Hidden gem!!
Friendly and warm place dine! Also family friendly
Friendly authentic atmosphere. Good food and quick.
Best papaya salad in indianápolis!!!
Absolutely delicious and excellent customer service!!
10% off for students!!

Great food
This is our fourth visit here. The food is absolutely amazing. The service is always very fast and with the smile. The process are more than reasonable. Love this place.
Food was great! I would definitely recommend Tom Yum Seafood. The server was kind and very attentive. Plan to visit often to check out all the menu items. :)
Delicious! The best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand. The Burmese noodles are thick and juicy. Banana fritters

If zero star works, they will receive it from me. I order Pai Thai with Tofu. I said I’d dine in, but they packed my food. The tofu, zucchini and other veggies in the dish tasted rotten. It’s very disgusting. I told the owner. He of course denied. Anyway, a disgusting and shameless place! Will never go there again. Suggest everyone avoid this place!
Food delicious and perfectly prepared. Good value for the price and both dishes were tops.
First time was amazing. Second time our food was stupid spicy and we weren't the only ones complaining. No one cared about it tho, they just laugh and make you deal with it.
My family came here sometime back and recommended this place. I tried it today, ordered green curry and it was really good. Can’t wait to try some other dishes.
Amazing. Authentic. Great variety. High quality beef. My new favorite Thai place.
Outstanding! One of the best Thai restaurants I’ve ever tried! Wow!
Best bread I’ve had , so soft and buttery!
Authentic food and it's a must try restaurant!
The food was like I was back in Thailand! The atmosphere is quiet and soothing. Absolutely phenomenal
Baby corn in the mussaman curry is the way to my heart. Very kind environment with great decor!
I have to admit, Htaw Metta was not our first choice on a Sunday evening, but our favorite Thai place was closed and the reviews were great so we gave it a try and so glad we did, a new go-to spot! We ordered takeout and it was ready in less than 15 minutes. Staff was very polite and friendly, even at the end of the day. Interior is pretty basic, don’t expect anything fancy. We ordered the banana fritters and chicken spring rolls for appetizers and both were good. The entrees is where things went to 5-stars! The Pad kra Prao with chicken was outstanding, perfect mix of vegetables and protein, super-flavorful, and spot on for spice level! Same for the yellow curry with chicken. Portions seemed fairly generous, we both had seconds with enough left over for one more meal from each. As with other Thai restaurants, prices seem a bit steeped compared to typical Chinese, but on par with other Thai restaurants and love that they have some Burmese options too. One word of caution, if you’re like us, it’s so darn good that you just may eat more than you planned!!
Our new restaurant favorite find! A couple of my friends go out to lunch once a week to restaurants in Indy we have not been to. This is the first one we went to two weeks in a row. Crab rangoons, samosas, dumplings were incredible. We have had everything from the beef curry, Thai noodles to the poke bowls, everything has been delicious. They clearly have focused on the food and not a pretentious atmosphere for the value is amazing. Shockingly, we have never had to wait to get a table.
This is the best Thai food I’ve had in my life. Some of the best food I’ve had in my life. the amount of love And tradition you can taste in the food is astounding. The Tom Kah is my favorite. Sweetest people ever too 11/10
I had thePad Kee Mao with tofu, medium heat. It was very delicious!! My friend had Pad Thai with chicken and enjoyed her meal as well. Highly recommend eating here. The staff was friendly.
The best Thai food in town! This spot has become my weekly staple. Delicious food made with love, generous portions, great prices, and relaxed atmosphere with good service. 10/10 recommend going here! I also love that I can get sushi and poke bowls in addition to the whole Thai menu.

Which were hearty and very tasty. For the main course we spilt the Pad kra Prao. The spicy sauce its cooked in was fantastic. Definitely will be frequenting this place.
Delicious lunch spot! Hidden gem!
Amazing food everything they have is worth trying, and everyone there are very friendly and helpful if you don’t really know what you want to get or having a hard time choosing. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Indy.
Delicious food and fast service! The prices also can't be beat. I had the best red curry I've eaten in Indianapolis. It is quiet inside and parking is easy.
Best Thai food I have had in Indy maybe ever. I will be back.
This might be my new favorite restaurant in Indy. The service was perfect and the food was amazing. Can't wait to come back and try something else. The stuffed tofu was amazing. My husband had the coconut soup I had the Burmese take on lo mein with tofu and it was out of this world.
Great authentic food.
What a meal! Everything had a lot of flavor. Each sauce that came with our apps were amazing. I could tell the crab rangoon was made fresh compared to the frozen stuff you usually get. Terrific, terrific pad thai. I wanted to pack another one to go even tho I just finished eating 🤦🏻♂️
Such amazinggg Food amazing service such a nice place to eat!!!
Gem of a place! Thai boat noodle soup 💯
I thought I knew what good burmese beef curry was until I tried it here. Be advised it's a chef's special so it's not always on the menu, but the curry was incredible. Also tried some of the Thai yellow curry, and the sushi. Everything was incredible quality, flavorful, and delivered promptly. The server was funny and delightful. THIS is my new go-to place when going through Indianapolis!
A little family run authentic Thai restaurant.
The food was excellent, friendly owners, clean, and quiet.
The Thai restaurant had a friendly Thai staff member that greeted and served our food. The food was delicious and plentiful. I took home some extra rice for the left over curry! The food looked so good I took some bites out before the picture! The restaurant was nicely and colorfully decorated with umbrellas hanging from the ceiling. Has a nice homey warm feeling.
Food was really good, fresh, & not greasy at all. But I ordered Thai hot and there was almost no spice at all which was very disappointing. Flavor and portion size was good but I only get Thai food because I want something spicier than anything else available & this didn't hit the mark. I'll have to try again.
Our food was delicious, our service great, and everyone was incredibly friendly!
Had an incredible experience here. The Burmese food was absolutely delicious, especially the goat curry. They don’t hold back on spice, which is great! I had tea leaf salad for the first time and also fried opo, which was superb. Everyone working was very friendly. Can’t wait to go back!
The food was amazing and the staff are very friendly.
I will definitely be returning.
Best Thai food I’ve had in Indy. Most importantly, its always consistently good so you’ll enjoy the food every-time.
This is one of those unexpected great finds that makes
eating out fun. The food is varied and amazing, the atmosphere
is very pleasant, and the service is attentive. We immediately declared it the place we'll go when we just want a quick, delicious meal.
Amazing Thai and Burmese style food. Host was great. Not a HALAL meat place. We ordered drunken noodles with fried tofu, mussaman curry with tofu and veggie spring rolls. Everything was great in taste, served in time, no delays. Great place!
Undoubtedly the best Thai food in Indy!
Friday evening about 6:45PM dined in no wait, plenty of open tables. Appetizer delivered with entrees but food was delicious and hot. Pork a little tough in pad Thai.
Great massaman curry and padd Thai! Staff was friendly, quick service—clean and neat atmosphere.
Best Thai Burmese food in this area. Food is unique that you can’t find in the north side of town.
Really disappointed as this place is very close to home and I love Thai food but I have visited twice now and received very low quality of food and customer service.
Best drunken noodles I’ve had in Indianapolis. Extremely nice people !! Give it a go!!! 😊
Great hidden gem in the Nora neighborhood. We wanted something with tons of flavor and spice, and they deliver. The goat curry is phenomenal, meaty, spiced and tender. Lots of Burmese and Thai options here. The basics like Pad Thai or drunken noodles are also available and excellent.
I loved this place. The food is excellent the service was wonderful. Especially liked the sticky rice and mangos.
Great pad Thai and wonderful curry. This is our number one Thai place in town.
Loved their Nan gyi thoke 🫶🏻
A great small Thai spot! I would highly recommend!
We ordered 2 mains (yellow curry & padd kee mao) and crab rangoon. They were all fine, but none of them were our favorite. If it’s close to you, I’d get it, but if not, consider somewhere else. The yellow curry was oddly sweet. The crab rangoon didn’t have enough filling.
Wonderful selection of Thai and Burmese dishes. We tried four and they were all very good.
I had pad thai chicken. One friend had pad thai tofu, which came with extra vegetables. Our other friend was more adventurous. Very good food at a fair price. Friendly efficient service.
Small little restraunt, had the shrimp pad thai for lunch. Service and food was good. Not the best I ever had but no complaints. Will try something else next time they had a nice selection of Curry.
Had the tea leaf salad and Tom Kah soup. Delicious! And the service was excellent
Decided to try a new Thai restaurant and I’m glad I did! Very friendly staff and 10/10 food!
First time stopping here and it was very good food. It was new with the Burmese twist of the traditional Thai food. It was a small restaurant I always passed by, and it surprised me. Its worth a try if you love traditional Thai food. Service was good and the food was prepared well.
The service was a bit slow. They were shipping out door dash orders before the ones sitting in the dinner room.
My friend got a whole fried fish with chilies on top. I got the larb It was awesome. And my other friend got a beef curry that looked amazing. I would go back.
Absolutely delicious! Food temperature for takeout was great. Spice level is spot on! I can’t wait to try more of their menu items!
This place is absolutely amazing. I can’t express enough how genuine their food is. The taste, the color, the freshness all 10/10!
Now, the one thing that absolutely sold me was when I asked for Thai spicy, not “American spicy” they gave me Thai spicy! Talk about sweating!!! And their Thai iced coffee is very tasty!!! Highly recommend this this.
Everything here is delicious. Friendly staff. Great food.
Delicious every time! I've ordered a different entree each time I've visited and have never been disappointed. The spice level is on point, portions are just enough, and the staff are super friendly and attentive.
Cannot recommend this place enough! We’ve ordered takeout from here twice, different dishes each time, and have been very impressed with the food and service both times. If you’re wondering what to have for lunch or dinner and you’ve found this review, Htaw Metta is the answer.
Good food and good service 👍
Food is fantastic!!!
Mon/Burmese Goat Curry is the best ever!!!
Great Thai food and always super fast.
I ordered the shrimp dumplings and Burmese Chicken Coconut Noddle Soup for lunch and both were sooo tasty. The dumplings were obviously handmade in the best sort of way and deliciously peppery. The noodles in the noodle soup were the stars though...I look forward to craving those specifically in the future.
Kind of a hidden jem. We found it today on Maps and decided to give it a try, a very wise decision on our part. Great tasting, sushi, curry and Thai noodles. Will be back, the fam loved it.
Great food and friendly staff. Some of the best fish cakes I have had anywhere including overseas.
Absolutely fantastic! Ordered the Burmese Tea Salad, Shrimp Tempura, Burmese Pork Curry, and Ohn No Khao Swe- everything was truly amazing. Deep, rich, and well developed flavors. We'd order all of those again (and probably will). I think we found our new favorite place. I'm glad I found this place through a quick Google search. Definitely give this place a try if you love Thai and Burmese cuisines!
this is such a great restaurant. we usually only like restaurants in california (especially asian and mexican) but this place is amazing. i would especially the fried rice, which i stuffed into my mouth at a rapid pace :D
We were pleasantly surprised. The food was absolutely delicious. The dishes and sushi were amazing. We bought two dishes and four sushi rolls. Food came quickly, and food was super cheap. This place is more than a hidden gem. It’s heaven on earth.
In a word…Delicious! Great experience. I’ve been here twice and it came highly recommended by a friend. There were 3 of us dining this time. For appetizers we ordered Samosas (5 pieces; we ordered this last time and loved so much that we ordered again) and Burmese Tea Leaf Salad (if you’ve never had, this is a must try!). Our entrees were Larb Salad, Padd Kee Mao, and Burmese Chicken Coconut Noddle Soup. All were excellent! All items were very beautifully displayed. We finished the appetizers and each took quite a bit of our entrees home - the entrees ended up feeding us for 3 meals!! One member of our party ordered the Thai Iced Tea - a “go to” item for her at any Thai restaurant - and it was lovely. Service was very attentive. Very clean, inside and out (we opted to eat outside as the weather was so beautiful). Restrooms were very clean. Highly recommend this neighborhood treasure! 5 stars!
Best Sushi I’ve ever had. They boy at the front was a total cutie pie!
Years ago, we discovered Burmese fermented tea salad in San Francisco and have been in love with it. So we were both excited to see it on the menu at Htaw Metta. This place is by far my favorite Asian restaurant in the Indianapolis area. It has fermented tea leaf salad and BOAT NOODLES!! I'm so happy to see a place that serves Burmese/Karen food (a staple in my old hometown of St. Paul, MN). The food was great. The in-house chili pepper sauce is wondrous. And the service was fantastic. The young man who served us was so pleasant, attentive, and we enjoyed speaking with him. Definitely a home-cooked-authentic-meal kinda place.
Oh boy! Had some dumplings and the pad see ew. Those were some thick tasty noodles loaded with veggies and beef. One of the few places around where the food is good, the prices are reasonable, and you'll leave with a full belly.
Truly amazing food… fresh ingredients and cooked to order, from the grill to your table. Served hot to enjoy. A well oiled family ran business.
Thank you sir!!!
Really it's fine
Amazing experience!
Very good food😋
Amazing food and superb service!
I've enjoyed lunch and dinner here several times. From thai food to sushi, I've always been satisfied with what I ordered!
Excellent. Delicious food, and brilliant service.
Loved their Thai Tea
So delicious! The sauce they have with the shrimp dumplings is SOOOOO good.
You're having trouble finding good Thai food place in Indianapolis, or you have a craving for authentic Thai cuisine. 🤔
Thai cuisine is popular, however true Thai cuisine is difficult to find outside of Thailand.🤷🏻
Htaw Metta Restaurant is a fantastic choice, as it serves both traditional Thai and Burmese dishes, as well as sushi. You have a place here.👍
Food experience - basic
Communication - excellent
Customers service- excellent
Environment- clean
Pet friendly - not certain
General observation - This business is barely 70days in this location and may need time to meet all customers full expectations ...
Been meaning to try this place for a while, and I regret putting it off for so long. We ordered veggie spring rolls, pad kee mao, and red curry, all of which did not disappoint. You can get these dishes at other restaurants in Indy for the same price (and even sometimes more expensive), but not as good quality as at Htaw Metta. Additionally the staff were very friendly and attentive which was just the icing on the cake. Needless to say, we were very pleased with our experience and will definitely be coming again.
We asked which were the burmese dishes and were told it's a thai restaurant they don't server burmese. So we tried the Nan Gi Thoke as we'd never seen that before. It was a thick gloopy noodle with a very un-thai like aroma. New to us so that was exciting. But not something we wanted to go back for. We also tried the massaman curry (our go to dish when comparing thai restaurants) and it was ok but not very peanuty and quite different from other versions we really like (eg Sawasdee or Thai Spice). We'll go back to try the burmese tea leaf salad and fried opa as those are new dishes for us.
Pad thai here is great. Incredible flavors.
Got takeout. Very quick. Massaman curry was delicious. Tom Yum seafood soup was pretty spicy, but perfect for me.
The chicken pad thai was fresh and delicious! The service was great! My new favorite place
Authentic Burmese/ Thai restaurant! Great atmosphere and service.
Highly recommend this hidden gem.
Nice spice, tastes fresh
The foods were very authentic. I liked that they have sushi, Burmese foods and Thai foods. Good foods and good price. I will come back again.
Bought a variety sushi platter to take over to friends’ place. Fresh, great taste and variety and beautifully presented.
Best Thai I’ve had in a long time. It’s the only Thai hot spice level that’s almost too hot that I can recall. Very authentic
