Serving authentic Thai Dishes that can accommodate many diet needs.
We had a wonderful experience at Thai Bistro Bar. Air was our server and she took really good care of us. Very attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely amazing. We were so happy to stop by from Southern Illinois. We'll definitely be back again. #yum πππππ
We started with Boba Tea, soda for me and the Spicy Thai appetizers. Then ordered a shared meal of Massaman and Pumpkin Curry. It was well prepared. It tasted incredible. Everything was cooked perfectly. Veggies were soft but had a crunch. The meat was so tender. I recommend this for everyone who wants a great meal!
We have been long time fans of Thai Papaya. And once this location opened we couldnβt wait to try it. We were not disappointed at all. The atmosphere is beautiful. The plants and decor feel so upscale but also cozy. The menu items were familiar, they kept some of our favs. But had some new choices as well.
We will definitely be continuing to come to Thai Bistro on a regular basis!
Friendly fast service. Food was hot and fresh. Excellent experience. They make amazing sauces. The sweet soy, I could drink by the bottle. The cucumber dipping sauce, just fill a bathtub with it cuz it's that's good. I also had a taro milk tea but they use real taro so there is a grainy texture that I couldn't wrap my tongue around but it tasted great! If you are looking for some yummy Thai food, I recommend giving this place a try!
Atmosphere was good for sit-down lunch conversations. Service was efficient - quick to get your drinks and food. Waitress was responsive. Flavor of the pad thai in the picture was authentic and on point. Only reservation is that portion was a little small even for lunch portions. For people who prefer petite portions, it may be just right.
Food and service great. Atmosphere is cute. Had the green curry with sticky rice. Yum. Rice helped thicken the curry sauce. Also had drunken noodles and thought they were delicious. Great flavors and heat was good!
It's hands down my favorite restaurant in the area. It's also become my dad and I's go to whenever it's just us spending time together. The food is always delicious and great portions, the servers are always super nice and attentive and it feels cozy and relaxing
Food was wonderful and the service was great. The atmosphere is great.
February 2025
Great service, but the food was just okay. The flavors were not there. Please focus on quality vs. quantity.
Wait staff was excellent, food besides spring rolls was nothing amazing but not bad. Dessert was overpriced and underwhelming. Would go back for more spring rolls and try another dish to see if it was more to my taste than what I did order (Pad see ew).
Food and service great. Atmosphere is cute. Had the green curry with sticky rice. Yum. Rice helped thicken the curry sauce. Also had drunken noodles and thought they were delicious. Great flavors and heat was good!
Pad See Ew was amazing!!!
Over priced watered down frozen Thai food.
My boyfriend and I love going to this place for lunch, the food is great and service is always lovely. It has such a nice vibe inside too. We love to sit by the window.
Excellent food, drinks, and service. Will become our go to place when visiting Evansville family
Good is bland and lacking ingredients it is advertised. For 15$ I should receive my lime, pnuts, and more than 3 tiny pieces of dry over cooked chicken.
Thai food always been my favorite . Today I really was very disappointed. I ordered pananga curry. No flavor at all. Very very bland. The worst I ever had was. Please let Evansville taste the goodness of Thai flavors
This is an absolute gem in Evansville! From the decor, the service and the dishes served. I canβt say enough positive comments about Thai Bistro & Bar! Truly an amazing flavorful experience! If you havenβt been or are thinking of trying, you must go! Oh and try the desserts.
Love taking my baby here, the food and service are top-notch.
I had massaman curry with green tea and it was absolutely fantastic. So tasty and full of flavors. The server was extremely courteous and I learned that itβs a family business and they just moved the restaurant from Las Vegas to Evansville. I hope more people welcome this wonderful restaurant!
Food was amazing!! Service was wonderful! Will definitely be back!!
Delicious food! Service was some of the best, very clean.
What's wrong with this place? It used to be a decent Thai restaurant in Evansville but now they are just an expensive Thai "ish" restaurant. I have gotten their food twice for to-go since they moved but both experiences ended up going terrible. Their red curry was very watery and BLAND, pad-thai and curry flavored fried rice were also way UNDER SEASONED. Only dish I enjoyed was a somtum (papaya salad). Did they change an owner? Anyway, I will never go back to this restaurant.
Iβve been dining at Thai Bistro regularly since their previous location. The new location is absolutely Amazing. Beautiful decor, Authentic cuisine and Excellent service.
*update: I canβt find a way to respond to the owner other than updating this review. If youβre saying you checked your cameras 2 months later and didnβt see what I reported, Iβm sorry but youβre not being truthful. Our waitress was female. We barely saw her. Also Iβd like to add there were only 2 other tables at the time. I would understand if she were busy, but that was not the case. There was also a man in the kitchen that saw us standing in the entryway when we first arrived, he also ignored us. There was another male there who seated us and ultimately got us the check. He arrived after we did. We thought he was a customer. He said that he used to work there and would get us seated. Later He was sitting at the bar. He was very friendly and I felt bad to bother him. He made a comment that he used to work there but wasnβt currently working there. Maybe his family works there or owns the business? Iβm not sure. He was a very nice young man who helped us when he saw that we were being completely ignored - but he did mention that he was not currently working at the restaurant even though he used to. Your response, which quite honestly is a just a flat out lie, makes me reiterate that I will never return to your business and I will make sure to let others know of my experience. **
I was so excited to try this place. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options and I love supporting local businesses. The food is okay. The portions are generous. I didnβt like my food but there was nothing wrong with it. The flavor/sauce just isnβt something I enjoyed. My partner got fried rice and it was really delicious.
Iβm leaving 2 stars because of the service. Itβs horrible. We came in and stood at the door for over 10 minutes before we were seated. We ordered and got our food pretty fast. Once we got our food, the waiter never came back to check on us. The food is pretty spicy. My partner took his glass to the bar to ask for water, and the waiter saw him and immediately turned his back and walked away. We were completely ignored. Never got another refill. Waited 15 minutes after eating for a check. A check never came, we had to again walk around and find someone to ask for a check. I wouldnβt say the staff is rude, but theyβre not friendly and they just donβt refill drinks or check on you at all.
The food is okay but honestly you can get good fried rice anywhere else and have much better service. Unfortunately I donβt recommend this place and I wonβt be coming back.
Update - the restaurant I went to was Thai papaya. Apparently theyβve moved locations and changed their name. But it was this restaurant.
We really enjoyed eating here. As a vegetarian, it's nice having vegetarian Thai food in Evansville. They have really spicy food as well, and the staff is very nice.
Delicious Thai food!
We made a day trip here from IL and are always eager to try Thai spots on our travels. The food was underwhelming and the service wasnβt good either. Appetizer came out with the food, we asked for spicy and got mild, waitress didnβt come back over after delivering food to where we couldnβt even get a refill on our $3 fountain soda. Left with an $80 bill, certain that we would have been happier using that to get gas and groceries elsewhere.
The place wasn't all that busy when we went, but the food was delicious. We did have to ask for a kids menu.
One of the best Thai restaurants I've ever found
Absolutely amazing
We had a wonderful experience at Thai Bistro Bar. Air was our server and she took really good care of us. Very attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely amazing. We were so happy to stop by from Southern Illinois. We'll definitely be back again. #yum πππππ
Absolutely love this place. Clean beautiful inside. Very friendly staff
Food was good. Was put off by the lack of cleanliness of utensils, and by the fact the the server was both serving and cleaning tables with one gloved and one ungloved hand. She touched everything with both, whether it was clean plates, food, dirty dishes and utensils, and the credit card machine. She never washed her hands. It was quite revolting to watch, really. That glove was a charade. Turned the whole experience on its head.
This thai food feel like more americanized, but not bad though. I preferred more authentic thai food.
Their portion is big and price is relatively average.
Atmosphere was good for sit-down lunch conversations. Service was efficient - quick to get your drinks and food. Waitress was responsive. Flavor of the pad thai in the picture was authentic and on point. Only reservation is that portion was a little small even for lunch portions. Great!

Everything was cooked perfectly. Veggies were soft but had a crunch. The meat was so tender. I recommend this for everyone who wants a great meal!
Everything was absolutely delicious, affordable, and service was great. We were already planning what we wanted to eat on our next visit - and we live an hour away!
This is a new staple in our date night rotation! Their food is incredible and the service was so quick! And βΒ it's just as good when we order on DoorDash!
Great food, beautiful venue
Love it , best fried rice in town
Delicious food!! You can tell itβs fresh and they put care into what they are doing. Very clean and homemade tasting. Best mango rice ever! Also very allergy friendly. Great gluten free and vegan options.
Very tasty π. Nice vegetables in great dishes.
Excellent food and they are very accommodating of allergies. Canβt wait to go back!
We love this place! The food is amazing. Our favorites are the Pad Kee Mao and the Spicy Fried Rice but everything we've had here has been delicious. Truly authentic and even better than places we used to frequent when we lived in Chicago
Love the freah spring rolls!!!!
Love the owners, the food is always served as ordered or fixed if wrong. The service is fast and friendly and the new location is comfortable! Love it!
A windy Thursday in February led to our discovery of this restaurant as we approached a different foodplace nearby, on impulse we deemed it warranted a change of plans to give them a try. A decision I do not regret! I am a longtime fan of all Asian cuisines, not one to shy away from bold flavors, unique combinations, unusual ingredients and fantastical utilizations of otherwise unheard-of fare. Enter Thai Bistro & Bar, an intriguing atmosphere that immediately sparks interest from the two divided dining rooms. The far wall features a beautiful panoramic portrait of Bangkok, highlighting the river and king's palace & the ceiling is an unmissable canopy of vegetation. The decor works for them in this space and I enjoyed looking around before and during the meal. I started with the Thai Fried Pork Belly and I cannot recommend it enough! It was delicious and the dish alone may force a return trip out of me. For my main dish I took the recommendation of my server and settled on Pad Kee Mao Ta-Lay, a sensational creation that incorporates mussels, shrimp, scallops, and cod with a sauce that is out of this world. They call it their Pad Kee Mao sauce and the dish definitely deserves to be the sauces namesake. It just works. And it works so well I almost licked the bowl. It is one of the higher priced menu items and I wish it was a slightly larger portion, but with a taste this good it served well to leave me wanting more. All in all, The flavors at this place are phenomenal and I will definitely be back to give more of their menu a try.
My eat in experience was better than my take out, but the food was still good. Great service and owner is very friendly. Try the Crab meat fried rice! It won't disappoint. A few dishes shrimp was way over cooked yet still delicious.
Our absolute favorite! Pete keep up the good job! Spicy fried rice π―. Worth the 1 1/2 hour drive!!!
This is the best place to eat in Evansville. The service is so friendly and the food is delicious.
The food is delicious and staff is attentive. We have made it a tradition to go here every sunday!
New location is great. The service has always been fast and friendly. My old favorites are still on the menu so I'm happy. Thanks for the great food as always.
Service was ok nothing special. Typical Asian atmosphere but the food was absolutely amazing!!!
Service was friendly and timely. The food was really good. We had the Pad See Ew with pork and it was delicious. The Khao Soi was also really flavorful. I'd order both again. Looking forward to returning and trying other dishes and the Thai tea as well. Definitely recommend!
The food was delicious. The tom yum soup could be more tom yum. Less options for vegetarians but they customized to meet our needs which I highly appreciate. Their spring roll and veggie mix is mostly store bought because they couldn't separate mushrooms out. But they did provide some onions and carrots in the soup to make it veggie. Good ambience. A little overpriced if you are vegetarian but it is the only thai restaurant in town.
Very good across the board !
Excellent service and the food was absolutely delicious. I loved the dining are we ate in, and there was only 1 other couple seated. Excellent ambience.
Great Thai food, full of flavor. Good labeling of GF and Vegan options. They the Bangkok Iced Tea! They tend to cook less spicy food, so order extra hot if you like the heat.
I Love this Venue it reminds me of Rainforest Cafes! I ordered the Yellow Curry with a Tai Tea and Springroll appetizers. The Spring-rolls were buttery and flakey with a sweat cucumber Peanut dipping sauce! Their Curries have a customized spice level! They have both Tai Tea and Coffee Definitely a top tier Tai Bistro! Plenty of Vegetarian options. Some of their currie pastes are made with shrimp but the yellow curry is not so if you are allergic to shellfish be mindful. They recently reacquired their liquor License after moving locations
Very friendly servers! The pork dumplings were one of the best things Iβve ever eaten, the pad Thai and pad see ew were also some of the best Iβve had here!
food was amazing, the place was a little bit hard to find being that there was no signs out front but definitely going back. highly recommend. I will definitely go back when I'm in town again in January.
We were driving by and noticed the Thai Bistro & Bar.
Stopped in for a late lunch.
HUGE menu, from salads to soups to desserts.
Ordered a couple appitizers, presentation was great but 1 lack flavor and the 2nd (pork belly) could have been crisper.
The noodle bowl and pumpkin curry was excellent wouldn't change a thing.
Orderd Thai Spciy for the Pumpkin and it was mild. But overall taste..give it a 10!!
The dessert was different but was light and t
Kiddo even enjoyed it!
Chicken pad kee mao is amazing everytime. Just wish yβall would get some fresh rolls in so I can try!
Highly recommend
Had very good lunch service was good not rushed
cucumber salad was the star of the meal all items were exellent
Definitely will be back
So few vegan choices in Evansville but Thai Bistro &Bar has many! We will be coming here again and again.
If you want food that actually tastes good then eat here. Prices are fair and the food is made to order and obviously fresh which is extremely rare in this city.
If you live in Evansville and havenβt eaten here yet what are you even doing. Your stomach will thank you
Always tasty!!
Update 9/14/23: final meal here as they are closing this location and moving. Can't wait to try the new location.
Ordered take out. The Larb was amazing and perfectly spiced.
The absolute trifecta in Thai cuisine. Phenomenal food at a gourmet level of taste and presentation! We tried a new for us, Jungle Curry dish, Excellent! , Chicken Pad Thai garnished with a really great Spring Roll with owners specially prepared Cucumber and Rice Wine Vinegar dipping sauce! Lastly, the pineapple fried rice was delectable! We look forward to a return to Evansville to experience one of the best Thai restaurants in the country! Thank you Jenni (JanGi?) and company for a wonderful visit! Signed, The Truckers π
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Indiana. We noticed when we ordered our food this time that they didn't ask us how spicy we wanted it. I love spicy food so I had to ask our waitress, who was really sweet, to bring us the chili flakes. In my opinion the sauce doesn't add as much kick as the flakes do. The service was great and the food was excellent. Edit Note: We went yesterday and noticed that the pad thai has changed. The restaurant has new ownership, which may explain that. The dish is no where near as spicy as it used to be, which is something that I loved about it.
I have eaten Thai food all over the United States, and the food here is among some of the best that Iβve eaten. The wait staff is also so nice and helpful. This is our go-to Thai place.
I had a red Curry, it was very delicious. The staff is friendly, too. I can definitely recommend this place.
Traveling and stumbled upon this gem in Evansville and what a find! Service was great. Food arrived and was delicious and perfect spicy. Wish we lived closer.
Always so delicious. Chicken Pad Thai is the best around.
The food was amazing. Everything that we ordered was delicious. Tofu Tod, Curry wontons, pork dumplings, pork Pad Thai. The sweet sticky rice was amazing. I really like that they have a secondary entrance for carry out. Super helpful during a dinner rush.
Tom Yum soup with shrimp is down right addictive !! Plump shrimp and umami flavors can't be beat! I get medium, or hot spice. Delicious.
The food was great in the server was great. But there was only one lady working the entire floor it's hard for her to keep up, but it's not her fault
Food and service were excellent.
Never a bad meal. Carryout is quick, accurate, and always excellent.
My wife and I visited this afternoon and I asked for a recommendation from the server and she recommend Valcano Catfish. It was absolutely delicious! I really need to know what that sauce is called? It reminds of a Cajun roux at a base level. But that being said so many layers of flavor that elevate it to something special. Such a great meal!
Very delicious at a reasonable price.
Always love coming here. Good food, but the waitress's are always great. Always good to talk with Noi
Outstanding vegan options!
This place used to be excellent. I love Thai food, and it had been awhile since I had dined at Thai Papaya, so I chose it for my birthday. I gave it two stars only because the staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is still relaxing. Although served hot, the food, however, was horrible. Rather than rely on fresh ingedients to give the aromatic flavour I so adore about Thai food, it was heavily sugared, with little vegetables, spices, or meat, despite the high upcharge for chicken.
Great service, fresh food, generous portions.
Second time coming here and both meals have been incredible. Veggies are so fresh and I love that they have such a selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes.
We got the spicy fried rice and green curry which were both phenomenal. Definitely will be going back!
Excellent food and service
The food is great. The only complaint I have is having to wait over 20 mins just to pay my bill and get a to go box. Very frustrating when you see everyone else getting helped but you are left there waiting forever.
Went to Thai Papaya on a date with my wife for a Saturday lunch. We were seated quickly, food arrived quickly after ordering. I ordered Pad Gra Prow (I think I spelled correctly) with pork, as "hot as they could make it" (my words to the waitress). It was very good, reasonable portion size, quality ingredients. I enjoyed my lunch and it was actually spicy.
We absolutely loved this place. The food felt authentic, the flavors were vivid and unique, and we did not need to wait long at all for our food to be served.
On top of excellent food Thai Papaya also makes boba bubble tea which is awesome.
Will definitely come back soon.
I donβt know where to start. We didnβt even take photos for half the food because we jumped in. The Taro Tea is a MUST. The chicken satay comes with a peanut dipping sauce and an onion cucumber salad/slaw. We got it as an appetizer but our kids would love this as their meal. I love Tom Kah Gai and this version is delicious and filled with cabbage. Got some classic pad thai and fried rice for lunch and there was so much we ate leftovers for dinner everything was very delicious and the flavors were perfect. We really must have looked wild eating so much, so fast but we had an appointment to make. Thanks for the speedy and delicious lunch! We will be back with the whole family very soon π€€
Positively perfect food. - Everytime!! So authentic.
Love this place and they owners....
The food and service were good. Portion sizes for the price were too small. That's why I knocked off 2 stars.
Waitress was super friendly and the volcano catfish is just wonderful.
Food is fantastic and the staff is super nice. Service can be a little slow if they are very busy. But if they aren't very busy, the food usually comes faster than expected.
Food is amazing! Told the waitress I had never been there before and she was very informative and helpful! Will definitely be going back
Loved it. All at table (4) enjoyed.
Moved here recently and been looking for a good Thai restaurant. Glad we settled on Thai papaya tonight. It will definitely be our go to in the future. The pineapple fried rice was awesome. Love that they use fresh pineapple.
great service and the best panang curry Iβve ever had in my life!
No bar but they do serve drinks. Close early (8pm) but food was so hood. Fresh made. Peanut sauce at first looked like it was watery but such good flavor. Nutty and sweet. Curry was good. Not too spicy. I had pineapple fried rice with shrimp instead of chicken. Sooo yummy. Don't let the fact it has pineapple or raisins in it keep you from ordering this as its very tasty with the unami, nut, sweet combo. This is one of my fav Thai dishes. Price was extremely reasonable.
Amazing pad gra prow, every time.
I used to love this place, but the past year or so, it's never been spicy enough. Not just not spicy, basically bland. Like zero spice at all. Even when I kindly explained to the wait and kitchen staff that I want it as hot as possible. They'll nod their head and be like "you got it," and then it still comes out bland. It's OK if they don't have the ingredients, they could just say so. They better stop playing with me π
Service was great. The food was not what I was expecting. I expected a lot of food on a small plate, I was very wrong. The dishes were very well thought out. I got a pad ti with beef. The beef and noodles were good, but the sauces they put on the side and the veggies they had on the side complemented. the whole dish in a way I'd not experienced in a dish at that price. ($12.50)
6 stars!! I got a sampling of several items to get an all round experience while traveling through the area.
I started with 2 fresh rolls. Chicken sausage was excellent and I loved that they placed tamarind sauce, red chili sauce and mustard on the side so I could slide how I wanted.
Next was tofu pad thai. Again, you get to create your own heat with chili sauce on the side and extra lime juice came with the plate. Very good size portion as well. (Still have plenty to take home and have for lunch tomorrow.)
Panang tofu curry was to die for, especially with rice mixed into the sauce. I went with mild but later added chili sauce from the pad thai. So mild really is mild here
Dessert was sticky rice and coconut ice cream... Literally heaven in your mouth. I think I could have eaten 2 bowls.
They keep your drink full (which is a must with Thai food)
I like that the checkout process was a QR code scan and pay Digitally, this restaurant is cutting edge. Interior and bathroom was clean, colorful and comfortable.
If you love Thai and are visiting Evansville, this is your place.
If you are new to Thai food, go here, tell them you are new and get a great experience.
Great job, Thai Papaya!!!
Amazing staff, friendly atmosphere, and delicious food. Overall a great experience.
Great food, beautiful restaurant.
Restaurant is very clean. Rungtawan gave us fast and friendly service. Great food! Thoroughly enjoyed the drunken noodles, chicken pad thai and the spring rolls. Will definitely be back.
Rude server, this last Saturday, trying to memorize orders and not letting us order as we were ready. Pressured our friend, and we recommend you guys. 1230p. Brown rice was undercooked and smelled bad. 18% auto tip was not appreciated. We would have tipped more for decent service. Not good
I posted this for my wife and from your reply you are calling her a liar. Eight of the nicest customers you used to have said your server was rude. And you attack me for the post. Lovely.
Nice place. we injoy dinner there. Nice people work there.
I went out with friends on Friday night around 6pm. There was no wait. The service was prompt and friendly. The group split 2 appetizers. Crab Rangoon and I think a version of egg rolls, but thinner and better. Both very good. For mains, there was a Pad Thai with chicken, Yellow Curry with beef (medium heat), and a Pad...somthing with veggies. The vegetarian in the group said it was very good. I got a bite and agreed. No pictures as we were all having a very good time.
Great food! Friendly staff! A great family! We feel like we are visiting old friends every time we come here!
Delicious! Love the yellow curry.
The food was fantastic next time I visit I will come back
This is quickly becoming our favorite restaurant! The new ownership has made some noticeable improvements to food quality and taste. Last night we unexpectedly had our dog with us late into the evening and were starving.. we went to Thai papaya hoping to eat on the patio with our dog... the patio wasn't open due to a staffing issue and the inside being busy.. when we explained our situation they graciously accommodated us and allowed us to sit outside....we were prepared for things to be slow since we were challenging the staff, however, quite the opposite was true.. we had everything we needed including a bowl of water for our dog! The owner/waitress was so friendly and pleasant and obviously takes much pride in her restaurant! The food is very very good.. fresh, unique, bold flavors with quality ingredients... The new pineapple yogurt smoothie was amazing... my husband ended up ordering one too! I would go there just to have one of those for Dessert!
Highly recommend Thai Papaya!
