No-nonsense eatery serving up classic Thai staples & beverages in a comfortable setting.
It was just okay. The spring rolls had a very thick rice paper wrapper and were cut to look like sushi. They were kind of bland. The masaman curry was overly oily in taste.
The serving sizes were good, just not the food. The service was not good either and we were the only ones in the place. That should have been an indication we should have went elsewhere.
We ordered takeout, and it only took 10 min to prepare. They called to say their mangos weren't ripe enough for mango sticky rice, so they substituted custard sticky rice. Unfortunately, it was bad. The gelatinous custard had an unappealing gray color and chunks of something darker gray in it. The rice was packed together like a puck, and neither tasted good. We ate a few bites and threw it away. The Tofu Pad Thai was good but not great, since it was a little dry. The veggie spring rolls were also fine. The best part of the meal was the plum sauce.
Absolutely delicious! Finally found authentic, high quality, fabulous Thai!! Mmmmm. Enjoy!
One of my favorite Thai spots in the western suburbs. The food is always fantastic. I especially recommend the Chicken Satay with peanut sauce and pot sticker appetizers. For main courses, my two favorites are the Lard Nar noodles and Red Curry with Chicken or Shrimp.
The service is also very good. We took our three boys there yesterday and we all were impressed. If you're in the are, I highly recommend you stop in. Enjoy!
This was the worst Thai food I have ever had hands down. The egg rolls were empty, literally empty. My “stir-fried” noodle dish was limp steamed and canned vegetables. The only thing edible was my husband’s dish, Spicy Catfish. It was actually good.
I went to this place based on other reviews. I must have ordered the wrong items. But I will NOT BE BACK.
Always like to stop here when we visit our old hometown. The food is great and authentic. Place has been there for at least 25 years. Nothing special in appearance, but food is worth it.
Absolutely delicious! Finally found authentic, high quality, fabulous Thai!! Mmmmm. Enjoy!
Got the pad thai with chicken always good and tasty!!
Great food, unfortunately no longer BYOB
Exelent food , love the place
Always like to stop here when we visit our old hometown. The food is great and authentic. Place has been there for at least 25 years. Nothing special in appearance, but food is worth it.
We bought almost $80 worth of food and it had NO FLAVOR. There was no taste on none of the meals and we got double the protein and paid for it. The pad siew was bland. The portions were tiny and not worth the amount we paid.
Very tasty. Not too filling
The Fried egg rolls are so good, the pad thai is my absolute favorite and you cant beat the price :)
Just tried this place, was looking for a good Thai place, and they did not disappoint. Food was excellent and service was just as good. Highly recommend.
Hidden gem, tasteful food. Customer service was great. We ordered: chicken pad siew, basil chicken fried rice, pot stickers, crab Rangoon. 5 out 5
The food and service are great. I will be going there again. Prices are fair.
The food is great and the staff is always courteous.
It was a very disappointing experience. We have eaten there a few times before, giving it a chance to be better, but this was our last visit. Service is a Big issue , The waitress or the owner never smile or Thank you when we Tips and seem like they didn’t appreciate the customers , No wonder why this restaurant is slow .
My salad had rotten leaf lettuce in it, less dressing I asked for the dressing to be on the side and it was not. The salad was smothered in the dressing and it still provided no added flavor. I picked through the pieces of lettuce, carrots and onion to find something edible. It was a thrown together mess, which appeared to have come out of a packaged leaf lettuce salad you could buy at the store, which had already gone beyond its expiration date. It was overpriced and awful.
We had to wait about 20 minutes for our food order to be taken. The waitress seated EVERYONE before starting to take orders. There are other Thai restaurants nearby .We will be going back to one of them to enjoy some "creativity" and "ambience."
Very good, fast service, clean restaurant.
We haven’t been back here for awhile since the previous owner passed .
Went to this place because it was convenient to where we had just done a shopping at the Jewel and we were hungry! It was slow but the service wasn’t pleasant and attentive, and the food was a bit lackluster. That is, the lunch specials didn’t offer the soup and it came with a small bowl of salad with less dressing … the tastes were not bright, interesting, or novel. The garlic dish was a bit oily , without the fascinating flavors. The pad thai was heavy oyster sauce, and was not the best that we have tried. In sum, good but not great ...
We’d like to give this place a Zero star if we could.
The woman working the front tonight was very dismissive and rude, We would never eat in because of her. This place used to be great .Unfortunately this place is down to the hill. The restaurant was dead and NO BYOB .
The food, however, was OK . It wasn’t authentic Thai food . Decent portion but too expensive to order often.
This place has been around for ages! And it was so delicious.
Just Ordered Thai beef salad and coffee. The worst stomach ache and couldn’t hold it down. Bad beef…?
Very good special occasion dinner location. Reservations strongly encouraged. Attentive staff.
The food here is amazing. We always get the Chicken Pad Thai, Crab Rangoon, and Mussamun Curry with chicken. This place is a real treat, always first on our list when we order takeout. Love! Love! Love!
I went today and have been there about 4 times the server is always polite and have a great personality keep up the good work and stay positive, love the wonton soup mmmm
rude rude rude
the guy was super rude
stop by to get white rice and refused to charge me with a debit card
never again!
We eat here often. We have it delivered to our home. The other day I decided to go inside and order. I’m assuming the owner took my order, he’s an older man, he was pretty rude. Very nonchalant. As I waited for my order a white gentleman came in to pick up his order and the owner was very professional and very nice to him he even set his order nicely on the “pick up table” and then when my order was ready he set it on a chair and just said, “orders ready.” I wondered why he didn’t act super professional like when the gentleman was there and why he set my order on a chair instead of the pick up table. That was very rude! I don’t think I’ll be ordering from this place anymore. Plus the food hasn’t been that great lately. The fried rice is pretty basic and even that isn’t good anymore.
I had the Shrimp and veggie tempura with 2 measly shrimp. My son had the sesame chicken that was great so we ordered 1 to go and it was way over cooked. My mom had the spring rolls & teriyaki chicken that was ok. She ordered the shrimp and veggie tempura to go because she ate one of my 2 shrimp and liked it. At least I got to eat 1 shrimp…lol We had to ask for ice water and it had no ice and no straw given. The service was just terrible. Never asked us if we wanted anything more or if it was good. It was freezing in there too. We definitely won’t go back.
The food was great. This place is mostly take out. They do have a sizeable maybe 24 to 30 people sit down area. We ate there. The place could use a major redo. I think I understand why we were the only ones eating there. In the time we were there, at least 10 people came in for order pick up. It is dark and, I just felt like it was not really clean.
I will say, I did not see anything that actually was dirty. The table looked clean, the floor looked clean and the dishes were clean. Behind the counter was very cluttered and I am just not sure if food prep in that area is a good idea.
All that said the food was really good.
Pad Thai
Pad See Ew
Pad Woonsen
Fried rice.
Spring rolls
Seaweed salad.
All out standing and the Pad Thai 2nd best I ever had.
I recommend them but I would strongly suggest calling in your order and picking it up.
The sesame chicken was very soggy and the sweet and sour chicken didn't taste like much. Very disappointing meal overall.
Great fried rice and shrimp.
Love the food and service.
Red curry with pineapple had just the right amount of spice
We ordered takeout, and it only took 10 min to prepare. They called to say their mangos weren't ripe enough for mango sticky rice, so they substituted custard sticky rice. Unfortunately, it was bad. The gelatinous custard had an unappealing gray color and chunks of something darker gray in it. The rice was packed together like a puck, and neither tasted good. We ate a few bites and threw it away. The Tofu Pad Thai was good but not great, since it was a little dry. The veggie spring rolls were also fine. The best part of the meal was the plum sauce.
a must try restaurant. Prices are always reasonable.
Always good no compliants.
Great food, great price. Really awesome staff, very good about allergies!
Came here after a year , new owners I ordered BbQ pork padi Thai. Bbq Pork over cooked and dry. Mention to owner said because it’s lean. I said. No it’s over cooked
My husband and I found the food to be light and fresh.
Every ingredient had its distinguished flavor without the overpowering sauce to diminish or kill the entire entree taste. The meats were cooked to perfection and tender, as were the Vegetables, pasta, and their delicious black, brown rice.
We went there to venture into a new Thai restaurant which, frankly, will be one of our favorites.
I love getting carryout from this restaurant whenever I pass through Maywood on my way to Chicago. The owner is always sweet and pleasant, and they make the best Pad Thai around! This spot has been a favorite Thai spot for years!
Quite literally the best Thai restaurant I've ever been to. Whenever I go anywhere new, I try the Thai. Let me tell you, this is the best. Try the Tom Kha Kai Soup, Beef Salad, Lard Nar noodle (great with tofu!) or Red Curry! The Thai Iced Coffee is also quite nice.
Sorry to say, this place does not reflect true Thai cuisine. The owner is nice and has personality. I have been to Thailand. The food does not compare.
Very good food, kind owner.
Loved it tasty food and quiet atmosphere
Best Thai food in Chicagoland. Everything fresh and made from scratch daily. Excelent quality for the right price.
This place has great food, I don't know what the bad reviews are from. And we were a lil hesitant to try but I'm glad we did. We tried many options from their menu and I really like how they make their fried rice, their seafood salad and their Thai ice tea delicious!!! I would recommend it 👌
Doesn't taste like authentic Thai food. The papaya salad missed the spot!
I had tea, seafood salad, and coconut rice. The food was really good and fresh. The staff was friendly and fast. Will be going back.
Great place to eat! Food is amazing and made with lots of love 💜 The people who work here are the nicest and always put a smile on my face
I'm a big fan of their bbq pork fried rice!
Loved it 😍 very authentic Thai Food ❤️❤️❤️
Muy rica la comida
The coconut Tom Kan soup is delicious. Service is excellent
Awesome hidden spot. Great food
The food is always delicious, the service is fantastic. The woman running the restaurant is so sweet. The fried wontons are a must try. Give this place some love, and get some Thai!!!
Delicious food, welcoming atmosphere, very kind staff, overall great dining!
Amazing service and food! Highly recommend. Portion size is great and food is fresh. Authentic Thai food with lots of options.
I can't even understand how this restaurant has such high ratings...
Ordered chicken pad siew and thai iced tea. Never had such a tasteless dish and even thai iced tea was below average. So disappointed because I love thai food and they are so close to my work.
Loved every bit of this experience. My girlfriend is vegetarian and I’m not but there were fantastic options for both of us. You get a great value for the quality of dishes here. Will be coming back often.
AWWFUULLL!!! DO NOT CALL THIS THAI FOOD...!!! VERY SMALL. PLATES AND VERY BLAND!! FROZEN POTSTICKERS?? Iheard this was nice n authentic!! What??? No Way ...worse Friday dinner place for take out..Go to Oakbrook!
OMG, the food almost killed us. We ordered some fried rice and Yom boom Sen noodles. The moment we opened the box the foul smell was so bad we couldn't even eat it. This place should be reported and closed for selling poisonous food!
Habmve been going here for over 25 years. Fantastic food. Lots of flavor, always fresh, good portions, authentic thai dishes. Friendly service. Cozy indoor dining.
The food is excellent and service is good.
Love this restaurant, I would give 10/10 on their food! Taste homemade :) I recommend getting the beef Pad-siew and egg rolls! 😊
Great lunch specials
This was the worst Thai food I have ever had hands down. The egg rolls were empty, literally empty. My “stir-fried” noodle dish was limp steamed and canned vegetables. The only thing edible was my husband’s dish, Spicy Catfish. It was actually good.
I went to this place based on other reviews. I must have ordered the wrong items. But I will NOT BE BACK.
Friendly local place but with underwhelming dishes. Prices were fair for the quality.
Delicious Thai food that is now available for takeout. The lunch special include soup and an appetizer.
Beautiful family owned restaurant, enjoyed the delicious Thai food 😋
We have been eating at Benjarong since 1993.
Exceptional authentic Thai food.
Very reasonably priced.
Extremely courteous and prompt service.
Love this place! Love their food 🍲⭐️!
Yummy food. Pad Thai is really good.
We love love this restaurant. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy outstanding food. Atmosphere is cozy and Owner is so pleasant. Food is so fresh. I love their Thai iced tea. I can speak on their shrimp salad, Rama Chicken and Basil Fried Rice. Fabulous!
So delicious
My new favorite place for Thai! They get heat levels just the way you ask for them and meat quality is really good
Very friendly. Excellent food and very clean.
Pad Thai was kind of dry but the Thai iced tea was delicious!
Tried the Thai spring rolls, beef salad, shared green curry with chicken, red curry with beef and mussamun curry with chicken. Awesome dressing on the beef salad and all of the curries were marvelous. Service a bit slow as only one lady working the front but she was super nice and the company was good so we were fine. Definitely would go again. Small intimate casual restaurant.
Good food
excellent food and atmosphere!! family favorite spot to eat :)
Very good lunch, the Pad Thai was ordered spicey and I could feel the burn - loved it.
Great food & friendly service! Pad thai is amazing!
Average. Pad Thai was not seasoned well, no spice. Curry was very thin, not as thick as I expected, but flavorful.
Good food. Fast service. Can do better with soups.n
I've been coming to Benjarong for over 15 years now. While the food is always excellent, we've noticed that it's much better on certain nights than others. Not sure if there are different cooks. Regardless, it never disappoints for carryout or dine-in. Very small, and casual dining area that is great for any night of the week.
Enjoy!
Excellent food. Excellent service.
Ok
Not your typical thai food, the meals taste was average with subpar ingredients. I will not return to this place.
Hard to find homemade items. For illinois this place is fantastic.
Wish they delivered
Great tasting food goid value
We get a take out from Benjarong almost weekly. This is clearly a family favorite, with consistently tasty awesome food. Green curry is highly recommended! As is chicken satay.
One of the best Thai restaurants we have in town. Love their quality and quantity:-)
This place is always amazing! The food is always delicious and the service is always friendly.
Panang noodles are amazing
This is our go-to place for genuine Thai. When in doubt, order the Panang curry.
Delicious!
It was just okay. The spring rolls had a very thick rice paper wrapper and were cut to look like sushi. They were kind of bland. The masaman curry was overly oily in taste.

Good thai food. Fast.
Excellant food staff pleasant, small business, and space.
Awesome food! My problem with most Asian restaurants is the heavy use of soy sauce and too salty. This food has EXCELLENT flavor!
It was nice the waitress can be little more friendly the food it good
Fast service but food can be better
Best thai food ever. Super friendly also.
Impeccable presentation of really good Thai cuisine!
Great dinner, open on Christmas!
My wife and I love This place the food is original and delicious
Been going there for many years food is good and traditionally this Thai
We love Benjarong!
The restaurant is run by a Thai family. Very kindhearted people. One of the few authentic Thai gems in the state of Illinois. Definitely superior to Thai fast food. Great ambience in the restaurant.
Quick service and pretty good lunch deal options. Food came out quick and cooked just rite. My cashew chicken was great. Plenty of peppers onions and cashews to go with the pieces of chicken. I asked for spicy and the right amount was added: enough of a kick to taste. The iced Thai coffee with sweet cream was tasteful as well, a great pairing between bitter and sweet. I would have order another to go if I had the room for it.
Excellent food. Quaint, but good service
The food is awesome.
Great place to eat
The Lunch Special Is Great.
I Had The Cashew Chicken Spicy Comes With Soup And Egg Roll.
Friendly Fast Service.
$ 10.00 With Tip.
by far one of my favorite thai restaurants. everything is made fresh and to order. they offer takeout and the staff is friendly and accommodating. when i move, this spot will be my main Thai stop
Good variety of dishes.
My "go to" place for a mid-day snack on Saturdays. Always quick service and good food.
Fantastic Thai place hidden in a strip mall. Hard to find but well worth it. Great, authentic food at a reasonable price. I recommend the various curry dishes or the lunch specials. The Tom Yum soup is also great. I Guarantee it to cure the common cold haha.
The food is great... its almost the fourth n fifth time we have been here...
The red curry here is really good. Definitely try this place if you are feeling Thai food.
BBQ pork fried rice is delicious.
Soo cute and the people who work there are soo kind. I personally think its the best tasting thai place i have been too. They know how to cook. Real thai people in the kitchen. Authentic, very clean and cozy!!
Really good Thai food. Good home style presentation; good service; good food.
Great service, excellent meal from start to finish. Started with flatbread and cucumber salad, Tom yum soup, pad Thai. Very good.
Amazing loved their pepper steak
Very good. Fairly empty there was enough space to sit and talk comfortably. You have to try the Thai iced tea or coffee. Friendly staff, will be going again.
Picked this place on a whim from Metromix... been there 4 times now. Going again tonight. Every single item I have had, from the spring rolls and chicken satay, to the lemon grass soup, the pad thai, it is all absolutely excellent! And the prices cannot be beat. I have eaten at the posh Thai restaurants downtown, and this place is better. Not fancy, but comfortable. Just go for the food!! Nice, quiet restaurant with friendly staff too. Worth the drive from anywhere in Chicagoland.
