Our favorite sushi restaurant in Illinois…maybe the USA! Everything we have ordered has always been excellent and service is fast. My favorite is the Sashimi, but the sushi rolls are a very close second. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is very nice. They even have a drive thru window for pick-up!
The Mrs. And I went to Mimosa tonight for our date night. This restaurant is extra clean and has an great atmosphere. I had the shrimp tempura and oh my God roll (which they bring out to you on fire) she had the Boston roll and angel hair roll! Everything was excellent and the service was awesome! We are going to be making this a normal stop when we are in Springfield!! Highly recommend!!!!
My server was nice, my initial thought of this place was good until I got my food… and there was a hair in it.. whenever I got someone’s attention, they seen the hair too and tried pull the hair out which made the piece meat that was entangled in it, move from the plate 😭 yeah I understand things happen, but we’re suppose to have precautions like wearing a hairnet to prevent this from happening.
I didn’t like how the hostess (maybe it was the owner) reacted, they made it seem like it was my fault and made my friend feel super uncomfortable telling her that her food is okay, but no her food had hair in it too.
Great atmosphere but the taste was not up to the expectations. We ordered Summer rolls, which were tasty and Panang Curry, this was not upto the mark and tired bento box first time, quantity is huge and taste was good too. Had California Sushi, taste was top notch. This restaurant is better for Sushi’s.
Pretty interesting place to serve both Vietnamese and Sushi. The sushi/sashimi looked really good, but I stuck to pho for the evening. While not traditional in the textures, I did appreciate the wide noodles and thicker cuts of meat for their flavor.
Ordered take out. They gave my order to another car. Didn't fess up to it till I went inside and the other car brought our order in to get their own order. Manager didn't understand why I didn't want that order after it already went into someone else's car. Pretty sure they were going to give me that order if I was still waiting in my truck.
All of the seafood was WAY overcooked and chewy. The shrimp tempura had a frozen food battery, not a beer batter. It was terrible!

Sushi is ok for springfield area.
Bartender was extremely rude not customer service at all very much an ass to all..never wipe the bar before we sat down.. horrible service.
Food was great
Good food and good service. They were pretty busy, but they were running trying to make sure everyone got waited on.

Not much flavor to what I ordered. Asked for fried rice it was tasteless. Probably winter go back.

Amazing food and service! The decor was great. The chocolate mousse is a must try as well!
Nice wide ranging menu, with attentive service
Food was bland ,ordered extra hot & got absolutely no spice at all .Will NOT be going back .
Our server, Amanda was so nice to my little boys! They loved her so much they can’t wait to go back! The food was excellent!
Upscale Chinese place.

It was nice food was good atmosphere was ok
Pineapple crab Rangoon was amazing. Also tried the sake flight 10 out of 10.
Went to lunch with 3 friends. 2 of us got our meals, then we got appetizers 10-15 minutes later, then our other 2 friends didn’t get their meal until 30 minutes after. The food was good, but the service makes us not want to return.
Ordered online for pick up. Waited 45 minutes for 2 dinners that cost $46 and tasted like it was microwaved. The rice smelled like feet, the beef and broccoli was mediocre at best. And the egg rolls were cold.
The Mongolian Beef is the best I have ever had. Just the right amount of spice for me. Prices are a bit high, so I can’t eat here all the time, but it’s always great when I can.
Food is amazing!
Great ambiance, delicious food, very reasonably priced, courteous and polite staff.
Great food. Friendly staff. Good pricing. Would come back.
Did not devein shrimp so the shrimp still had poop in it when they served it to us. Owner took 3 dollars off an almost 20 dollar entree to “make it right”
One of the best pad thai I’ve had
A bit pricey, but completely worth it
Best oriental food in Springfield. Portions are plentiful and so many choices for selecting.
Phenomenal Food!
Always good food and excellent service!!
Plenty of delicious options and the food is great whether you dine in or take out.
So good
Loved all the food choices and food suggestions provided by the staff
Ordered sushi and got food poisoning. It was terrible. Caution ordering raw here.
Food was gone so fast I didn't have time to take a picture
We haven't been to Mimosa in several years, frankly because it wasn't very good but decided to give it another try. What a difference: a larger menu, excellent service, and the food was wonderful. My wife had spring rolls and Bume Noodle dry with tofu. I had pork egg rolls, a cup of hot and sour soup (ample; no need to order a bowl), and the Spiderman sushi roll. The soup was rich and flavorful, and the roll was delicious. I also had the vanilla bean cheesecake. And large cups of dark tea. We'll definitely be back soon.
2/2/2024: Returned to Mimosa for dinner. Were seated quickly. I had a bowl of hot and sour soup and a California roll. The soup was richer and more flavorful than previously. I finished off with the vanilla bean cheesecake. My wife had a bowl of vegetable soup and spring rolls, also delicious. Our server, Lala, was really nice and efficient. However, the restaurant was busy and very noisy, making it hard to carry on a conversation easily at our table.
The service was very good and the food was average.
This is a favorite. It's consistent, clean, and food is always fantastic!
Best sushi, yummy yummy
Very good food hot when arrived at table nice size portions on rice dinner
Great menu options, food was better than expected. Service was also friendly.
A great dining experience!!
Everything is delicious. Waiters always so nice and right there
I went with 3 other people and everyone enjoyed their food. Prices were good and the food selection was a lot to choose from
The food was acceptable. The menu has way too many items. It tastes fine, nothing special. It didn't feel very clean. The table was sticky and there was food under the table. The selection of sushi was good. Didn't try the sushi, I had the noodles plate and my friend had the pho plate. Seems to be the same ingredients in both plates, just switch the sauce. Not impressed. If I go again it would be for the sushi but not until they do a good cleaning of all tables...
Great sushi
Delicious food and good service.
Great food. Great service!
The quality of their recepies have great flavors.
Love this place. Amazing food. Shout out to Angie!
Everything I've tried here has been great, but this is definitely my favorite sushi spot in Springfield! My sister and I love going out for sushi and we've both agreed that this is the best sushi around. The staff is always so nice and helpful as well.
The food is always great!! This is my favorite place for sushi.
Our appetizers were great- the jalapeño poppers and the crab Rangoon’s. However, my spicy crab roll and fried rice were not the best… my spicy crab roll was pretty dry and not spicy. I think it would have been better with some spicy mayo on top, so if you get it I recommend asking for that. Then my fried rice really didn’t taste like anything, I put soy sauce on it and it didn’t taste like much and even tried Siracha, but then it tasted worse. My family liked their meals so I think I just need to try other things next time I come.
Appetizers were just frozen and refried. It was overly done, too, so it was tough and dry. My entre was the bangkok sea food, and the menu said it contained crab while in reality it was imitation crab. Same issue as appetizers where it was very overcooked. The sushi was just bland and covered in sauce to hide the fact. Overall, it is not worth the price or time.
Disappointing. We ordered the tempura for apps, and it seems like a frozen Costco tempura. The seafood entree was described as crab but it was actually imitation crabs. The mussels and scallops didn't taste fresh. The sushi was meh, avocado on the rolls was hard to bite into. They just doused the rolls with spicy mayo sauce and eel sauce for flavor.
I got Basil chicken lunch meal . Salad was great, & egg roll. Chicken basil with rice was good but was disappointed it had ground chicken in it not peices. Don't think I order it again
Good vegan options and good Sushi.
We love Mimosa— we order takeout more frequently than we dine it but we’re never disappointed. Everyone is always really friendly and the food is always amazing.
Great food as always, very prompt.
Loved our time here, the food was excellent. The atmosphere gave us a remarkable evening.
Wow! They did not bat an eye at taking a same day reservation for 12.
Our waitress, "victor", was one of the most professional wait staff I've ever encountered. She kept up with all our requests and did not hesitate at the end of the meal when we asked for split checks. I did not lack for beverage or food the whole evening.
The one child in our party found his meal not to his very narrow liking, and they were able to provide us with a replacement meal in just a few minutes.
I had no trouble finding diabetic friendly dishes. I had the Aquarium Sashimi, squid salad, and a jalapeno popper. The popper was exceptionally good--very thin breading and broiled filling. The squid salad was delicious, with a smokey sauce. The sashimi was beautifully presented and delicious. I especially liked the no rice sashimi roll.
My wife and I each had several alcoholic drinks.
Our waitress took pains to point out that there was a precomputed tip because our party was larger than 8. Normally I would have just gone with the precomputed tip, but she did such a great job that each of the 6 groups independently decided to include an extra tip.
My wife and I spent about $150 which included alcohol, multiple appetizers, and two entrees. Well worth the price! If you don't get alcohol, you could easily eat here for less than half that.
Excellent food, reasonably priced, large menu selection. Casual atmosphere.
Great selection of food from Vietnam, Thailand and Japan, all with an Amarican twist.
Good food, good service.
Great food and they serve drinks
Ok
Most of the time I go, it's a miss. Overall, however, it's a hit.
The sweet Thai sauce for the crab Rangoon is amazing. The Thai basil dish was a little underwhelming but the other foods we ordered were great.
Food was excellent and service was great
Overall, the food was pretty good. Service was not. I understand being busy, but we felt rushed the entire time. The waitress never asked if we wanted anything different to drink than tap water. Overall, she wasn't very friendly. I'm glad the wife and I finally tried it, but we won't be going back for a while. A different waitress could have made all the difference.
Sticky floors, rude server and the food quality has decreased. Won't be back for awhile
It is a great place to try new and exciting food. The staff is kind and the service is fast and with a smile.
Food was good and delicious, the staff was very rude, he didn’t take the order, while we are ordering he roamed here and there our group had vegetarians(religious) and the guy serverd uncooked fish when we ordered fully vegetarian platter. After realizing that my friend had to rush to the washroom to threw up. I asked them to remove the dish they served which is not ordered by us, but she simply gave a $10 discount while the dish they charged was around $17. On top of that they added 30$+ gratuity.
The service is really bad we ordered all vegetarian platter and we received non vegetarian stuff with uncooked fish and lobster really disappointing experience and plus the service tell us to we can’t remove the item from the bill and put $30 for service tip which is really unexpected I’ll recommend that they needs to be very careful and attentive with vegetarian options
A must stop anytime I'm in the Springfield area!!! Fantastic food & staff!! Never had a bad meal or experience here. Modern decor, very clean and very reasonably priced meals. It's definitely a place worth seeking out if you're in the area!
Not my kind of food items. Very overpriced!! There only because my grandson choice for his birthday. Will not eat there again
Family friendly! We arrived early so not a lot of bar people yet. Staff very happy and friendly. Will go back!
Excellent Asian fusion culinary experience, food was very good. Service and food was better than most high dollar restaurants. I highly recommend this establishment
Always good food, and fast and friendly service.
The staff are friendly and accommodating. They work hard and even when they are super busy (like tonight) they have smiles on their faces. There was a wait but the food is worth it!!
I am visiting Springfield and decided to try out this spot. Our waitress was awesome and I love how the menu had pictures of every item on the menu. I ordered the miso, yellow curry and shrimp tempura. They all tasted great. The miso is the best I’ve had in awhile. They aren’t skimpy with the tofu. Our waitress was really great.
Service was good. Food was excellent .
The food is consistently great here. The staff is friendly and efficient!
Our server was amazing!!! We ordered calamari app and the kitchen thought they were out, but later, "found a box" and she kept us in the loop why our app was taking longer than usual as they were not super busy when we ordered.
The shrimp in the there different rolls that I ordered oddly I could not easily get the tail/head pulled off and the shrimp meat seamed tuff. I have never experienced this before with shrimp. My wife said her two rolls were great, but she did not have shrimp in hers. Maybe it was just a bad shrimp night for what I ordered.
I got up at the end of our meal to use the bathroom and while gone what I am guessing was a manager, not our server asked my wife if the $70 bill and five dirty plates were all her? Odd way to end a meal, and for that, I think we will stick to getting our sushi rolls in Jacksonville.
I have been coming here consistently for 2 years for both dine-in and take-out. I have brought multiple friends and family members here as well and all have loved it.
There is nothing that I've tried so far that I haven't absolutely LOVED. From basics like Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle to their variety of curries (yellow curry and panang are my favorites) to their fantastic sushi, their food is top quality, well priced, and with decent portions. They have some more traditional dishes as well which are also delicious! Even their salads (mango salad!) and soups are amazing.
The staff here are friendly and kind. I'm sad that I recently moved out of the area and wont be able to do take-out on my way home from work, but I will still be a regular at Mimosa!
Prices and service 0 ok. Food was not good. Definitely not Thai. More Vietnamese. The sushi looked good, but I didn't try it. Had four dishes, and only one was acceptable, not great.
Will not visit again.
Santa
Great place to eat
Best sushi in town!
This has become a weekly favorite for us! Food is always excellent ! The Crab Rangoon is the best, one of my favorite appetizers.
Outstanding and courteous service, wonderful food and excellent atmosphere.
A wonderful experience. I hope to be back soon!
They have great variety for you to choose from!
For appetizers I been totally disappointed, wouldn't recommend their calamari, Kani salad or seaweed one.
My mom's favorite is one sushi tempura called Vegas something and is amazing!!!
I love their noodles , but main courses are totally worth it
Prices are not bad, take out has a great customer service! And they even give treats if you have pups with you!
In general is worth it to go back!!
So delicious and great prices. I have only had great experiences and delicious food when going here.
Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was excellent. The atmosphere is awesome. The menu is huge! I will be back.
The sushi was reasonably priced and reasonably good for central Illinois. I was perfectly content. I would go again. They do a lot of to go orders. If I lived closer I would probably do that fairly often. Drinks options were mediocre at best. That was my first time, so I didn't get to try any of the other non sushi menu items.
Place is packed. Has a variety of asian cuisines. We got pho and sushi when we went. Definitely recommend for when you're having asian food cravings.
Last night my boyfriend and I went to Mimosa for what was probably our 10th time! Normally we have great service and even better food; however, last night was disappointing. We came in out our name on the waitlist and sat down to wait as they were busy! We waited less than 5 minutes and were then seated which we thought was quick! We sat at the table for almost 15 minutes without anyone saying anything to us. No “hey we are very busy and your server/I will be right with you” nothing! At least 4 employees walked passed us during that time. We gave them 15 minutes because we knew they were busy and wanted to be patient but 15 mins?!? That seemed excessive so we got up and walked out. We aren’t asking for alot .. just to be acknowledged and not ignored.
Food was good waitress wasn't an easy mad I had a 27 $ tip added to my bill an clearly service wasn't worth it so u jus take my money won't be going back for dine in anymore feel ripped off
I always order sushi rolls and they are so yummy! Love this place!
Good food. Good service.
Food is usually very good they were swamped for hrs, and they seemed to be overwhelmed. Food was still good but not as good as it usually is.
Awesome food and friendly staff. Crazy amount of menu options.
Vegetables are not cooked enough they are real hard and I never had had General chose dinner and I know that's spelled that wrong because I am talking into my phone but the dish was so hot and flavor that I could not eat it. I think when ordering this dish I would have had liked for someone to have asked me if I wanted my dish seasoned hot or mild
Great food. Seating is good. Booths are roomy not cramped. Service is very good. They are attentive but not over bearing.
I absolutely loved the food here! The staff couldn't be any nicer to anybody. I recommend the egg drop soup, it is very good with a sore throat or just hunger.
