I found this little gem when searching for Thai food in the area. I can tell you right now that the prices are more than reasonable for the ample portions they have. If you think Bua is even remotely expensive then you should try White Crane in Naperville. That place is way overpriced for the same food. Bua is tucked away in a small strip. Not a lot of traffic. We didn’t need any reservations when we walked in after 7:40 pm. We were seated right away. The owner is very friendly and attentive. Food came out fast and fresh. We ordered Thai ice tea, beef pad si-ew, tofu pad thai, massaman curry, and mango sticky rice.
-Thai ice tea 5 - very refreshing. I like the glass it came in.
-beef pad si-ew 4 - beef was tough and chewy. Not sure if it’s because we came in closer to closing time. The sauce and noodles were good. Noodles are a little chew.
-tofu pad thai 5 - noodles are chewy and sauce isn’t bland. Good amount of tofu pieces. Colorful dish with the sufficient amount of veggies.
-beef massaman curry 4 - not spicy. Very creamy. Could use a bit more flavor. Good amount of meat but beef was overcooked. A bit chewy and tough.
-mango sticky rice 5 - big pieces of mango. Sticky rice was a little sweet. Seasonal dessert only.
Great quality Thai food! Tonight I was looking for a new place to order. They were able to deliver to my house (within an hours time!) and after I received the order I realized they were close to closing time! The food was fresh and high quality. I will definitely be ordering again! We had the pad Thai, basil fried rice and crab Rangoon!
The dishes are absolutely authentic and tasty. Presentation emulates the monitor. Ended meal with a sticky rice dessert- it was heavenly. Warm, not over sweet, enough cinnamon topped with coconut milk and toasted sesame seeds. We finished it despite our stomachs screaming your full. The tongue won the wrestling match. 😉Definitely worth value, ride and taste. I didn’t add the main entree photos, because we dived into it!
This is the real deal, folks.
Your lips will tingle, your tongue will numb, everything will taste funny, but this is what Thai food taste like! Amazing delicious 😋
I had Glass Noodles Salad and my husband got Pad Mama. Let’s just say not a bit of disappointment. Both plates were flavorful!
We’ll definitely be back for more!
I absolutely adore Bua Thai restaurant! It is spacious, but also cozy restaurant with awesome waitstaff.
They are always friendly, and quick with service! Everything is flavorful. Pad Thai is must! And don't miss out on Fishcake!
They are a BYOB restaurant. 10/10 would recommend for very well prepared and delicious Thai food!
Absolutely outstanding Thai food! The coconut milk soup is some of the best I’ve had. It’s very reasonably priced and is always fantastic!
So. Good. I took one star off because my elbow stuck to the table but the food was top-notch. I started eating Thai 35 years ago when there weren’t many places around and I’ve spent a long time trying to find places as good as that restaurant. This is it. I love a good 30 minutes away, but that might be a reasonable drive for this Penang curry I would have a better picture if I hadn’t eaten at all before I remembered!
ALWAYS!!! 10/5 Stars FOR BUA THAI!!! BEST HOME COOKED THAI FOOD IN NORTH AMERICA!
Great food, reasonably priced. It's our go-to place for Thai food when we're up in Chicagoland.
Ordered the chicken pad siew recently. Chicken was so stringy and dry, I had to throw it out. Have not had a bad experience here before but this was really bad.
The food was delicious, in a festive and clean environment, with upbeat music in the background. Glad we stopped by for lunch NYE. This place is a gem!
Absolutely outstanding Thai food! The coconut milk soup is some of the best I’ve had. It’s very reasonably priced and is always fantastic!
Amazing service, delicious crab Rangoon's, pad Thai, and chicken coconut curry ramen!! Will definitely be coming back and recommending!
Great spot for delicious Thai!
Very clean restaurant
Pleasant service.
Food is not great
Ordered chicken basil. Portion was small
Curry chicken is amazing
Bad customer service, bad communication, long waits to be even be served.
A nice spot! Prompt service and good food at good prices. Can't really ask for more.
I pull up in front of the restaurant about 10 mins before closing to grab my to-go order as I had a very later shift at work this day. I was in the mood for my favorite Thai restaurant out of the many others in the area, as I love Thai food..
A group of 3, presumably Thai women (given the circumstance), are standing about a foot away from the door to the restaurant, in front of a black BMW, literally next to my car... Mid conversation, all of them stop to awkwardly look at me, which I'm a person of color with locs (a notoriously racially profiled subset), one of them proceeds to audaciously lock the black BMW.
I would have left right then if I didn't already pay. Did she think I randomly parked my car next to hers so I could quickly hot wire hers, or was she just.... prejudiced?
I run in regardless to grab my food then return to my car to start my GPS. While I'm sitting there, I see the women looking into the window of Bua Thai as though they were waiting for someone inside, meaning they were undoubtedly related to the business whether they were employees or the owner's themselves, and as they say, birds of a feather flock together.
Suffice all of that to say, I will by no means ever return to a restaurant that does not sincerely welcome people who look like me or associates with the like, let alone feel comfortable stepping in such a place - they'll happily take my money then blatantly lock their cars in my face.. What else?
Tell me how you really feel, huh?
Very good Thai food
Food is really mediocre but friendly staff and clean
Limited staff. Great food! Recommend take-out over dine-in.
Salad was OK, but the cashew chicken was extremely sweet. Service was great though.
Food was cold and average.

Great food and service.
This is our go to Thai restaurant.
Medium heat just right. Gives you that Thai zip without scorching you.
Nobody wants to be sitting in the creek the next day.
Excellent asiatic food to enjoy in Chicago.
The food is AMAZING!!!! I haven’t had great Thai food in so long and Bua Thai is fantastic. I had the Panang Curry with Chicken and a Thai Iced Tea. Also tried the potstickers and crab rangoon which were equally tasty.
This place consistently has the best chicken wings, best noodles for a Thai spot outside the city. One issue is they don’t know how good they are and are sometimes short staffed making longer queues, and slightly rushed dishes but god damn are they good.
I placed an online order for my family of 14 at 1:30 on Sunday, to be picked up at 4:15 (they open at 4). It was a very large order with a lot of different items. At 3:55 they called me to confirm a couple of options for 2 of my items. My husband picked up the food at 4:20 & everything was READY! Everyone got everything they asked for, everything was hot and cooked to perfection!!! Only complaint was that the Medium spicy level was much more spicy than everyone was expecting. It went from no spicy to CLEAR OUT YOUR SINUSES spicy. Otherwise it was a fantastic experience and my entire picky family was very happy!! Thank you!
Delicious food and great customer service. You won't go wrong for sure.
Really fresh food prepared to order. Wings are spicy but wonderfully complex flavors. Worth the wait. Also...they don't skimp on the portions when you order it to go. Much appreciated.
This food is fantastic, you can tell.is made from scratch every time, very very good
Bua Thai never disappoints. I usually phone in my order but decided to stop in on my way home.
Ordered there at the front desk, should be out in about 10. Not a problem she said, have a sit here.
She come out with the best ginger tea while I'm waiting. No doubt about it that I'll be back!
Just go!
I like to get the pad thai and the panang curry hot and combine them in a bowl 1/2 and 1/2. Good stuff.
Food is excellent! We ordered chicken egg rolls, tom yum soup, chicken satay, moo ping, pad thai & orange chicken. Everything we got was amazing. Highly recommend

Very good service. Food came out fast and was delicious. First time here, but definitely will be back.
Everything we've had from here was excellent. Everything. It's all cooked fresh, lots of veggies and very decent portions. It's the best Thai restaurant that's been in this location.
Nice food
Like almost everyone else, I agree: nice tasting food. My wife and I enjoyed a Massaman chicken curry and pepper steak, and we are both very happy. (Good quantity of food, too.)
Tasty food, great service too
!
Very clean. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Food came quickly, was piping hot and delicious. Highly recommended. Enjoy!
I had a take out order. The food was good but the prices are too high. I won’t order from here too often. If they realize they should adjust their prices down to attract customers then I will get food food here regularly.
I eat here at least once a week.
I've been eating Thai food for a long time, this place is the best out of all of them , basil chicken is so so so so good. You can tell right away it's authentic and fresh. Best Thai food I've ever had hands down!
Perfect
Very good. Server was excellent.
I made a catering order and everyone loved it! They were willing to change a few dishes so that we could have some vegan options. Food was great, so many people told me they enjoyed the food.
I've ordered the chicken satay Togo and the order looks smaller than half what is pictured, one of the skewers has one thin chicken piece they tried to wrap around.
Peanut sauce was half filled and nothing like the photo.
Overpriced for the amount of food, if you order to go expect to get at least a 30% reduction in food from what you see on the plate.
I asked the lady to fill the peanut sauce container which was half filled and she said I'd have to charge you extra to fill it up.
Never going here again I paid $30 for what should have been $15.
I don't like to be scammed when I order food, their menu deliberately shows far larger portions than they serve.
Also my shrimp pad Thai had only 4 shrimp in it which they charged me extra for.
Disappointed.
Great find in the neighborhood, excellent food friendly staff definitely would come again!
Really great people and food!
Pad Thai is amazing. I also enjoyed the pineapple fried rice. Pad Thai (spicy) steals the show.
Bua has REAL sticky rice. Food is always very good and everyone is helpful and friendly. Really reasonable prices as well.
Very nice staff. Very good food however - I was a little disappointed that their Tom Yum soup wasn't authentic and that's my favorite Thai dish as it reminds me of my trips to Thailand. It's hard to find a place that actually does Tom Yum right. Still a great Thai restaurant.
So. Good. I took one star off because my elbow stuck to the table but the food was top-notch. I started eating Thai 35 years ago when there weren’t many places around and I’ve spent a long time trying to find places as good as that restaurant. This is it. Over priced but the food is good
Food was meh. Chicken had no flavor and tasted like it was just tossed in some sauce.
Excellent curry and pad Lee mao. Curry was a little on the spicy side but everything tasted great! Would come again!
I was here with family. Food was freshly made and delicious. Pricing is reasonable. A video displays rotating photos of dishes for more information. Ratings for "hot" - Mild, Medium, Hot, seem authentic. I definitely plan to return!
I've only ordered it for pickup a few times, but everything has been done on time and received hot. The food has been delicious too, especially the coconut milk soup with chicken. I'd seen it called Tom Kha Gai at other places. I've been waiting for years to find a version this good around me.
Excellent food. Very authentical Thai food. Recommend it.
We had the Basil Chicken and vegetarian egg rolls. Delicious! No pics, we ate it all!
Picked up Pad Thai with Tofu to go at lunch time and was a bit disappointed.
First off they forgot to sprinkle crushed peanuts and topped the noodles with red cabbage and shredded carrots…bad idea. The noodles were a bit soggy. The flavor was ok…except it was missing something, almost bland. The tofu was what must have been a large rectangular piece fried and then cubed. Some sides were fried others were were not. It gave it a weird texture…and it tasted a bit odd. Perhaps a few days old. I’ve definitely have had better Pad Thai in the area.
The chicken panang was absolutely delicious. Definitely going back
One of the rare authentic thai restaurants in the suburbs. You can tell they use fresh ingredients & every time I've gotten take-out they have been so friendly. Hope this place gets the business it deserves because it is soo good :)
Excellent food, try the pad se ewe
Fantastic Thai food! Highly recommend
Wonder Thai food. We had a large order ( entrées and apps) and they got it all correct. The inside of the restaurant was clean and well lit. The staff was also friendly and nice.
Every other Thai restaurant in the area includes utensils with a takeout order, or at least asks if you want them.
These guys believe that's unnecessary. And that it's your fault for not reminding them.
Very nice people but there was one person waiting on multiple to go orders and the dining room was half full. The food is good but I had to wait literally 30 minutes for my dessert and check??
Really surprised about this place. Is now our go to Thai food place in the western suburbs.
First time. Tried their Pad Thai and ordered it HOT. Lemme tell you, if you like 🔥 on your tongue I recommend the HOT. Pad Thai has very good flavor so next time I will try either their medium or mild spiciness.
Haven't been disappointed by anything in the menu I have tried. Their curries are great, especially the panang curry.
I ordered Chicken Panang Curry with white rice for takeout. The staff was friendly and it only took about 10 minutes for the food to be ready. It was a nice sized portion that could make 2 meals and it cost $12, which I think was reasonable. Overall I was impressed and happy with my meal.
Delicious! Very grateful to have this restaurant in Darien. The Pad Thai, Pad Si-Ew, and chicken egg rolls are all top notch. Very fast & friendly service, too. Bonus: their mango sticky rice is A++ (and is one of my favorite desserts ever). We’ve ordered twice so far and will keep coming back!
Just tried for the first time, I loved it. The curry fried rice was amazing, I'll definitely be getting it again in the future.
Basil chicken entrée had very good flavor.
This was genuine fresh made Thai dishes. Amazing flavor and whoever is in the kitchen is a great cook! I’ll be back with friends. I can’t wait to try some more dishes. This is my new favorite place!
Wont be going back there.
Food is delicious! Best Thai in the area... Would love to give it 5 stars, but they did forget my rice and egg rolls :(
Definitely check them out though, things happen!
Pad Thai is delicious! Make it spicy.. promise it won't disappoint.
Very happy to have discovered this hidden gem great pad thai, massaman curry, and fried rice. Look forward to trying their iced coffee next time
I have ordered out multiple times and have tried various menu items. Everything is delicious. The wait is quick. The spice is there if you want it.
Ordered this to-go today and was immensely pleased! Quick service, reasonable prices, and delicious food. I had tom yum soup, panang curry, and a Thai iced tea. I will certainly be back to try other options. It’s an unassuming location and may be brand new, but it’s up there with some of the best Thai food I’ve had.
Cozy restaurant, good service.
Finally an authentic Thai restaurant with fantastic customer service in the western suburbs! We ordered Thai food for Christmas Eve dinner last night and I wish I ordered more for today! I can't stop raving enough about every dish! We ordered the green curry, pad si eew, pad thai, papaya salad and egg rolls. Not a single bad dish! One of the best papaya salads that I've had... even compared to one I've had in Thailand! Highly recommend!!
Was totally underwhelmed with the food. Thai First is infinitely better. Really wanted to support another little restaurant but this was disappointing. Also disheartened to see staff not wearing masks.
The food was great. I have yet to be disappointed by anything on the menu. I personally recommend their Salmon Panang Curry for the fried the salmon along with the addition of their delicious panang curry made for a satisfying meal indeed. In addition, I love the service this place offers. Everyone was kind and the wait was never too long for such a good meal. All in all, expect a repeat customer over here.
First things first, I am Thai, and tried this place for the first time today and was very impressed, had the Papaya salad, sticky rice, basil chicken, Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mow. Seeing ground chicken used in the basil chicken made me smile (how it is made traditionally in Thailand, I can’t stand it when places use sliced chicken), however, thought it was a bit heavy on the onions which made for a little more liquid sauce than I prefer it to have. Everything else was also excellent, but the sticky rice was a bit overdone and too chewy, but just some small nit picky qualms coming from someone who has had a lot of Thai food in his life. Definitely will be our go to Thai restaurant in the suburbs moving forward if quality stays consistent or improves over time, and look forward to trying some of their other dishes!
We had Pad Thai and Panang curry from here last week and both were absolutely fantastic. Best Thai food I've had in a long while! If they are always consistent this place will truly be a gem!
