Unpretentious Thai eatery serving noodles, curries & veggie dishes in a cozy space with an aquarium.
I got to have dinner at Siam country with my friend. So, let me get into it.
The food was very good. The quality was great. I have to agree with my friend I wish the curry wasn’t as watery. You could really see how fresh each ingredient was. The service was great our waiter checked in often and asked how everything was often. The atmosphere was very inviting and welcoming. The waiter really was pleasant and it reminded me of when I had Thai food in Thailand. A very inviting feeling. Overall, I will say give Siam country a shot! You will like it a lot!
I stopped in for lunch. It was my first time here. Service was prompt and courteous. The food was tasty. I had the shrimp in peanut sauce. It was very flavorful and the shrimp was cooked perfectly
We ordered Pad Basil and Red Curry. I was very taken back by how Small portions were for $15.99. The curry had 6 little pieces and minimal veggies. Both dishes should be priced at $12 if that small. Go to uptown neighborhood for Thai food. Sorry just being honest.
I frequently dine in and order takeout from Siam Country and am impressed every time! It’s a delicious and affordable neighborhood spot & every dish I’ve tried has been top notch.
I typically order pad thai, massaman curry, or cashew chicken.
The owner is polite and welcoming! Food is awesome too! Love the spicy level and the flavor.
(I forgot my credit card after I left. The owner even came out for a distance for just giving me my credit card back😭😭 Thank you!!)
I hope this place stays around for many more years! The food was delicious, fresh, light. The service was delightful. It's in a cute, quite part of town. Really such an enjoyable experience going there with a friend. The one tiny detail is just that the tables and chairs are a little older so a bit wobbly and creaky, easily forgotten once we settled in. I'll be back and maybe bring a cushion!
Ordered take out 2 different curry dishes. I hate to report this but they were Both lacking flavor, vegetables, meat, and the sauce was so watery. Didn’t even use coconut milk. Unfortunately will never order again. Would not recommend for the curry.
Very flavorful and fresh dishes

If you like bland, overpriced food and the TINIEST portions you've ever seen, this is your place. A $16 entree of cashew beef had three teeny tiny pieces of beef and maybe four burned cashews. Same for one of the chicken dishes, which had a few miniscule pieces of chicken and the rest was veggies (but only a small amount). The small entree containers were one third full, and the rice containers were half full. The three to four noodles of Lad Nar was goop. When I immediately called to complain that the $83 worth of food plus tip that I just picked up in the middle of a thunderstorm is barely enough to feed two people (while I need to feed four), all he could say was, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Not, "how we can do better?" or "how can we make it up to you?" Sadly, all of the Thai restaurants in the area are doing the same thing: Way overpriced food for embarrassingly small portions. But this place was by far the most disappointing.

Siam Country is one of my faves! They have gluten free options, which as a celiac is so appreciated. I honestly order from them once a week, and it’s always fantastic
Extremely disappointing. Portions are very small and the main 'vegetable' in a vegetable/rice entree was onions. There were maybe three slices of orange pepper and a handful of mushrooms. Plus it was completely tasteless. The only flavor was the hot sauce. Can't understand why this place has such good reviews. Save your money and go across the street to the other Thai place
I’ve been going there since the early 90s with my parents! The owner remembers everyone and your orders. Such a kind and generous guys. Food is great, area is nice and right by the Brown Line.
Unfortunately, this was a very bad experience. Very friendly service with a smile serving up some of the saddest food posing as thai food that I have ever eaten and or been charged for. It’s my fault for not walking out of the restaurant after my first bite of vomitous measly portioned strangely overly sour massuman curry and my wife’s lemon grassless and unusually clear brothed sorry excuse for tom yum soup( really some bland hot water with some lemon, flavorless mushrooms and old carrot bits.) In Chicago we are so used to delicious food that these horrible instances leave us looking for but lacking the experience to illicit the correct reaction which would be just to get up and leave. I called the restaurant on the way home to share my impression of the experience with whoever answered the phone (the owner? probably the same man who served us this awful stuff) who didnt seem to care much and only said “sorry” and “yes the food is always like that.” When I looked at the reviews on Google maps it seemed like Siam restaurant was pretty highly rated. I guess you have to be very careful about trusting these reviews on here. Don’t make the same mistake that we did. As a fairly experienced Thai food patron I would highly advise to AVOID this “restaurant.” I even hate to write this review…
Ordered takeout and the food was delicious! Picking up my takeout was a breeze and the staff was very polite.
Came in for a quick dinner before the gym and they greeted me with kindness and quick service. I got the drunken noodles with tofu and halfway through forgot I had gotten tofu! The tofu was so well seasoned and prepared that I honestly thought I had gotten meat (I’m flexitarian meaning I eat meat but minimal amounts)! It had the perfect amount of spice (I got medium) and was the perfect amount of filling but not stuffed.

Nice cozy and delightful place to grab lunch. Feels like Sunday afternoon at Grandma's all over again. Unfortunately dined near two Karens who refused to compensate the staff for their hard work, so I'm leaving this review specifically to spite them. The family who runs this eatery are a delightful and polite bunch who make good, homey food for those who crave a taste of Southeast Asia. Support this small business if you can.
Really good food, mostly neighborhood takeout spot. I live on the south side and anytime I’m nearby I order and come say hey. The owner is very friendly and funny, and the space is really tranquil and overlooked. Thank you all so much for years of service and I love you!
Two of us had a delicious lunch. The Pad Thai was very tasty! We started with a spicy soup somewhat like sweet and sour soup. Warm and yummy. Great service for the first 2 customers of the day.
Amazing as usual! Every plate, every, it’s fantastic. We tried today the Whiskey Noodles and it was great
Very nice staff! Thank you!
Friendliest customer service I have had in a while. The pad see ew was incredible and they were able to cater to my gluten allergy. Hard to find gluten free pad see ew!
I have only eaten here once- but found it to be enjoyable. Just leaving a review because I found the other reviews to be overly harsh. We enjoyed dinner- noodles, curry- it was tasty. It seems like a family- run business, and had a really good vibe.
Clean little spot with a delightful server. Good food. Portions were not huge but we had two lunch specials w small apps included and added satay for $40.
Wonderful food!
First time coming here. We were trying to find a thai restuarant that has gluten free options. This restuarant has it all and is super delicious. Had the pad thai, it was out of this world. And the deserts, deliciousss.
The food and service was great! It was on my list of places to try in my neighborhood and I went basic and got the chicken pad thai and the spare ribs with a taro milk tea. The milk was was more blended but still pretty good.
Everything was mediocre to terrible. Delivery person was rude. Shu mai & egg rolls obviously cheap, frozen you can buy in grocery store. They were bland, flavorless, rubbery, terrible. Drunken noodles were flavorless, noodles/ tofu/ vegetables were overcooked and verging on inedible.
The servers were very attentive, and the food was just the right amount of spiciness.
Excellent lunch specials. Very clean. Feel good meals are had here.
Came in to get lunch, it was a lunch special. During the week, lunchtime can be limited. The owner of the restaurant was friendly, greeted me, and provided exceptional service. The food is delicious and I highly recommend.
phenomenal food.
Ordered online for pickup. When I arrived at my estimated order time, I had to wait 10 minutes. No big deal. However the portions were EXTREMELY small. I paid 14 bucks for chicken curry that had about 5 pieces of chicken in it and 16 bucks for Pad Prik that was hardly enough to feed me and my girlfriend. The whole thing felt like a huge ripoff. Doubt I'll be returning again. The man working seemed nice though.
Good
Amazing Thai flavors! super highly recommended. Portions are perfect size.
Great food, I had the pad Thai with spicy chicken (Thai spicy) and the spring rolls. My brother ate all the spring rolls before I could try them, that’s a good sign!
The spicy chicken pad Thai was incredible, great flavor and just the spice levelI wanted, I like spice.
Owner was kind and efficient. Chatted with him and was very friendly and clearly cares about the food and the restaurant. I don’t live close enough to frequent but will go out of my way to return.
Small portions, price discrepancy from online menu, smallest egg rolls I ever seen. For that size, they should pack 4 in bag. Overall, the two dishes we ordered were nothing special.
The delivery was good tho.
I am very confused about the high rating of this establishment. We went in there on a Friday night, but there were no patrons in the restaurant. As soon as I walked into the door, I was hit in the face with the smell of mildew and mold...and I had my mask on. I was immediately put off by the odor and thought about leaving, but did not want to be rude. The food was mediocre at best. The shumai dumpling appetizer we ordered were the frozen kind you can get at any Asian store. Very disappointing. The entrees we got (noodles and steak) was OK, but nothing special. Needless to say, we will never be back.
Delicious food, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, and the owner is delightful!
I often come to this restaurant. The owner and staff are very kind and friendly, and very easy to engage in conversations with. Definitely recommend this place to everyone.
Super friendly and kind owner. Food is on the blander and sweeter side. Feels like it caters more to Americanized palate.
Great food!
We go to Siam Country all the time and it’s always great! We get a variety of dishes but our favorite is the Panag curry. My wife is gluten-free (Celiac) and they always do a great job of accommodating her without any ill effects. The owners are very friendly too. This is a local Thai place!
What a wonderful experience! Friendly service coupled with absolutely delicious Thai cuisine...
One of my fav Thai places
The best Thai food in the city, for sure. Tasty Panang Curry, amazingly savory Lad Nar.
Owned and operated by a wonderful family.
Conveniently located right next to the Damen Brown Line station.
Loved the pad thai. The curry could have been Spicer.
This place is wonderful! The food was great and very reasonably priced for the portion size, and they have a great variety of gluten-free options which are clearly marked online. It’s also right off the Damen Brown Line stop so super convenient if you’re taking public transit. Incredibly friendly service as well; I’ll definitely be visiting again!
I have been going to this restaurant since I was a child. In all that time I am still always highly satisfied with the quality of every meal I've gotten. This place has never disappointed me, and the owner is a great person.
Ok wish they put more veggies in the pad thai
Best value for lunch in Ravenswood
Food and service are great! I particularly love the extra spicy options. Also, they're very quick!
Great service and the food was delicious 😋
Quick, friendly, tasty, fair portions, fair price. Everything one wants in a reliable neighborhood Thai place.
My absolute favorite Thai place! I order from here often enough that the owner knows my order. Should I try something different? Hell no! Massaman curry all day every day!
Great family run restaurant. Top notch customer service and delicious food. Love this place!
Service was very nice but Tom yum soup was avarge in taste
Spice Chicken Basil was to sweet and to much onion.
Both portion were very small and first time in thai restaurant i was still hungry after dpending 25$
Great little Thai place, friendly staff and cute place
Food can be customized to various spice levels.
MY FAVORITE THAI PLACE LUV THEIR HOSPITALITY ❤❤❤❤
This place is legit. If you like authentic Thai food, then check it out.
Great food and the service was really good too. Enjoyed my green curry very much!
It's a small unassuming restaurant next to the ramen stop but it has really great food and the nicest thai couple own it. Again the food is really, really good. It's easy to miss but try it out it really is good.
Great Thai food, will make it from mild to Thai spicy which is nice and a big range. Super nice people and the only time I’ve had a complaint is when it’s real late and I want Thai but they’re closed (not really a complaint, they just have good and local food I wish I could have all the time)
About everything tasted so gooddddd specially the fried rice 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great food. The owner is very friendly -- after one visit he remembered us and what we previously ordered!
The staff are utterly delightful and super attentive and the food is sublime!
Delicious, and the people who work here are amazing!
Ordered delivery for the first time and the three of us were disappointed. Shrimp dumplings had NO shrimp, the $10.25 pad Thai portion was small and lacked flavor. They didn’t include soy sauce, hot sauce or a single napkin. Will never order again.
Favorite spot for red curry. Especially pineapple curry lunch special
Great location by the Damen stop. Owner is so friendly and funny. Makes you feel right at home. Food is great and affordable. New favorite!
This is the best Thai experience in the area. Very nice family run restaurant. It feels like you are eating at their home. 11/10 recommend trying it once.
Food recommendation - whiskey noodles
Super good food and the people that work there are just the nicest people. The menu is pretty big, lots of great options, and I thought it was priced very reasonablely.
Simple, cozy and some of the best Thai food I’ve had in Chicago
Delicious and cute. The staff are very friendly and food was prepared in a quick manner. Lots of options for vegetarians and vegans. Highly recommended!
I came here today with some friends on a Sunday after a Cubs game for dinner and were greeted by friendly staff who were genuinely happy to see us. The place was empty around dinner time so they were very attentive to our needs. The beef pad see iew was delicious and hit the spot! Definitely authentic, which was what I was looking for when I searched for Thai restaurants in the area. I can’t wait to stop by again in the future when we’re in the area!
Been going here for over 8 years. It isn't the fanciest place, but the food is rock solid. Feeling adventurous, ask for Thai-spicey.
Amazing food. Always good.
This little place is a gem for Thai food. And the owners are wonderful.
The atmosphere is warm and cozy. The staff is incredibly friendly. The food is amazing, especially the yellow curry fried rice. I eat here weekly because of how great it is.
Simple. No fuss. Friendly.
It’s not even Thai food! Just water and onions and some uncooked tofu equals their green curry in definition! I am shocked to see the ratings here! Never ever recommend this place even to my enemy
The best Thai food in Chicago! Delicious.
Plenty of vegan options, and many dishes can be prepared gluten free on request.
Well-made, well-balanced Thai lunch carryout, for sure! The staff (owners, I assume) were very friendly, and they got my order correct, finished quickly, and ready when I arrived. Really great, I'll probably come back!
Recommended by a friend and it was delicious. Owner was very nice and quick with bringing out the food.
great
Super friendly and good food
Food is delicious and the owners are always so friendly.
If I could eat at this place every day, I would! I stop by at least once a week as it is. They have the most flavorful fried rice I've ever had - hearty portions and five difference spiciness options. I've also had the Pad See-Ew, which was outstanding. I want to try everything on their menu!
I also want to echo some things other people have said:The restaurant is cozy and not fancy. The people who own the place are always lovely - friendly, and they remember faces and names. I've only ordered takeout from them, not eaten there, and every time, the food has been cooked quickly, everything fresh and hot. Highly, highly recommend Siam Country. A gem!
This place is super cozy and mostly quiet (they do a brisk delivery business). Everything I've had has been great, especially the curries. The owner and his wife are exceptionally friendly and it's worth coming here just to see them smile and wave when my wife walk in. I also love that they have American spicy and Thai spicy. Always go for the Thai spicy...
We love this place. The owners are extremely friendly, worked with us on food proclivities, and all around make eating there very welcoming and fun.
Fast, friendly and a lot of GF and vegetarian options. Caters to a variety of dietary restrictions.
Is the best taste of Thai food in town
The food was not as tasty as I expected it to be.
Very good Thai! Red curry was excellent.
If you're searching for authentic Thai food then this is the place. The owner who took my order was so cute. He kept making jokes and he was really nice. I can't wait to come back.
We've been to Thailand and we are always searching for great Thai food. My wife said the red curry was one of the best she had. She asked for extra spicy and the owner kept peeking at her while she ate her dish. I think he was worried she couldn't handle it. I ordered my chicken pad Thai just spicy and it was hot. I loved it. I wouldn't order it any other way. Some places just throw in red pepper flake but this place threw in real dried Thai chilies. So the spice was nice. The pad Thai was one of my favorites I've ever had.
We ordered the lunch special which was $8.95 and it came with a choice of appetizer. I got the egg roll and my wife the spring roll. Honestly this wasn't the highlight of our lunch. Next time we'll just order the large dishes and skip the lunch special.
If you're looking for some authentic Thai food at a family run restaurant then this is your place. The EL train also stops right outside. Parking can be challenging because everything around here is zoned. You'll have to find a LAZ spot but it's worth it.
The pineapple red curry was delicious and my server was incredibly nice! I will definitely be back soon!
Been going to Siam Country for at least 15 years. Not sure which I love more - the food or Sudi and Angie. They are the best!
I love authentic Thai food.at this place.I love Lad nar and chicken satay. SO YUMMY 👍👍👍
I love this place. I go here once or twice a week since it's near my office and also right next to the Damen Brown Line stop. The food is great and the owners are really friendly. The food is served fast and their Oyster Beef, Pad Thai, and Fried Rice are exquisite. The place is clean and well decorated and gives the place an authentic feel of being a Thai restaurant. I highly recommend this place if you want to eat some great Thai food.
I love this place so much. They are so nice and the food is terrific. They always remember my order and take good care of me!
Prices are very good. But the dishes are not as great as some of the other Thai restaurants around. The thai teas and coffee drinks were super sweet to the point where we couldn't finish it. The spring rolls were also very dry and that too we couldn't finish. However, the panang curry was pretty good. If you plan on dining here, be sure to mention yelp to get 10% off your bill.
Best pineapple duck red curry around. I've gotten take out from here ~20 times. Everything is very good, consistently. Medium is the perfect amount of spicy, if you like spicy, but not too spicy.
The owner is extremely friendly. There is always a positive and kind vibe at this place. Which, I think, is their competitive advantage over the Thai shop across the street.
I try to go here once a week. The food is great. The owners are amazing, and its a really nice unpretentious atmosphere. There are a handful of other Thai places within a couple blocks that aren't nearly as good or as comfy. Its right off the Damen Brown line stop too so not just for the Lincoln Square/Ravenswood types.
