Small Business. Family owned & operated Thai restaurant.
Don't go here unless you're drunk, or just don't care about the taste & quality of your food. The "Thai level" of spice is a joke. I love my Mexican people, but that doesn't mean we should go trying to cook other culture's foods if we can't do it right. Trust me, I love Thai food, but this wasn't it. It's worse than Taco Bell is to Mexican food. You only get 3 oz of duck in the curry, so don't expect a normal 6-8oz of protein unless you pay more. It's super watery with such an obvious lack of flavor. I asked for thick egg noodles with it only to get the soggiest, most overcooked noodles. I told my waitress that they're too soft and she said they'd remake them. They sent another cup of noodles with the same level of sogginess.
My friend got the Pad Thai, and he said the same thing: lack of flavor. He had to keep putting soy sauce & chili on it. Even then, he wasn't impressed.
My first time there. A small, no frills restaurant. The people at the front of the restaurant were very attentive. The food was tasty and you can choose your spice level. Portions are nice. We had the pad kee mow, chicken noodle soup, rainbow rolls and shumai, all delicious. I failed to take photos of our entrees because we chowed down.
This is MY FAVORITE spot in Pilsen. I order from Rice & Noodles every Friday after work because their Thai spicy tofu panang curry is 😙🤌 ::: chef's kiss::: I love spicy food. The curry is super spicy and also has that coconut milk sweetness to it. They get it right every time. The Pad see ew is equally delicious as is the lad nar! The tofu skewers with the peanut sauce are amazing. I love that they have plenty of vegan/vegetarian options. The food is ALWAYS piping hot and the ingredients are fresh. My compliments to the cooks because they are back in that kitchen making the most delicious Thai food I've tried in the city. I hope that this restaurant is in business for a long time because I will honestly never tire of their panang curry and pad see ew.
This place is so buss down delicious. I’m always iffy on trying new “Asian cuisine take out” restaurants but this place was so affordable and exceeded my expectations. I got the basil duck and it was sooooo tasty and flavorful. They have such a large variety of drinks to choose from, and I tried all my friend’s drinks and they were all so good along with mine. The food came out quick and our server was very friendly.
This place is without a doubt one of my new favorite spots on pilsen. The food is absolutely delicious, every single item I have eaten from this place has blown me away. The service is amazing both when you dine in and when you order for pick up/delivery. The staff is attentive, nice and super friendly. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, super relaxing for coming and having lunch any day of the week. Lastly the value in the place is INSANE. I got two orders of chicken pad Thai last time I ordered food here and it lasted me for almost three days! Mind you I don't eat huge portion sizes but the fact that you get so much delicious food at a good price cannot be beat. This place is a must for anyone living in the area, A+!
Ok, this place is just delicious yummy food. I have to laugh at the comparison to panda express. Ok, this is only slightly more fancy presentation than panda, which is fine, but the food is definitely on a different level.
We only tried 3 things, pad Thai with BBQ pork, spicy fried rice, and rainbow spring roll. Each were amazing but the fried rice stood out a little to both of us as being so much flavor.
Great small sit down environment with fun chill music. Kind staff.
I will be back!
Overly sweet Tom Yum, watery and sweet Green Curry, not enough depth of flavor and barely any spice even when Thai level spice was selected.
I'm very grateful I asked for extra limes. While I personally wasn't charged, I was told they charge $1.00 for two small wedges.
Hit this spot up if you want extremely mediocre and overly sweet Thai food
My son and I agree that the noodles are so good! Food was as ordered and quick.
Highly recommend Horchata Thai Ice Tea
I enjoy their food and the friendliness of their staff.
My Pad Kee Mao with beef was fantastic, so was my side of tofu and bean sprouts. Mango mousse was decent but I don't know if I would order it again, but the noodles were amazing for sure, would for sure come back
Amazing. Wow

You can eat there or take out. Awesome pad ,ti tofu👌💥🤪

Ordered for pickup, we ordered spicy Thai rice, we got a regular fried rice, ordered the basil ground chicken with mushrooms ( i paid extra for this) and they didn't put mushrooms in the food. I called them and explained to them the situation. I was told by the person that picked up the phone that she was not the person that took the order. She said that they would remake the ordered or give me credit for next time... I took the credit. I got a call back from them and said the manager said not to give the credit. I am very disappointed 😞

This place is amazing for Thai food. Their prices are very affordable and the portions are large. The taste and flavor of their dishes is extremely delicious. I tried the pad see ew, spicy Thai fried rice and crab rangoon…all of them were amazing. Highly recommend this spot for lunch or a nice takeout dinner.

Had takeout for lunch from here. I had pad Thai with chicken, honestly wasn’t the best. Co-worker also wasn’t too impressed with his food.
It’s so good! Ya gotta go here. The staff is so nice too!
Loved the combination fried rice and rolls, well priced and service oriented 😊
Recommend their chive dumplings and pad see-ew.
Every time I order something it's not as described on their menu. It's either missing vegetables, has so much onion or missing It's too bland.
Ordered from here, going by the many recent positive reviews. The food was very underwhelming and crap. Ordering from here taught me to also look at the lowest rated reviews as well, so I don't make such mistakes again.
I enjoyed my lunch very much! The food was so flavorful and the honeydew lemonade was very refreshing.

It's okay.
My Thai place of choice. The pad kee mao is so good and comes with ample basil and tomato, which I love. (Other places use other veggies that I like less)
This restaurant has the best basil chicken and rice I have ever tasted. The service was great! This is definitely my new Thai spot! I highly recommend.
Ordered from here for the first time and wow!. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. The crisp on their egg rolls...beautiful. I ordered the combination fried rice and Satay as well, it was a very nice portion and really tasty. All in all don't let the outside appearance discourage you. Will definitely order again.
I’m obsessed!
Got lunch here the other day, and my god it was good. The crab ragoons were super creamy, and had a texture I never thought a ragoon could have
Good food , the fried shrimp with rice was too salty and my Boba pearls were hard , I really like most of the food like the crab Rangoon and miso soup
Wife and I ordered take out.
The food was hot and well presented.
Flavor- it was Super bland!! There was no spice at all. We ordered the medium spice.
Didn’t taste like pad Thai we normally order.
Tom kha soup and baby egg rolls are delicious! 👌🏽
Was looking for some delicious pad Thai, this place isn't it.
They will definitely serve you some healthy food, with the associated cost that comes with that, if you want some delicious, unhealthy, authentic food, look elsewhere.
Normally the spice level would help, despite ordering the medium spicy (2 out of 3) I couldn't taste any hint of spiciness. They must base their spice level compared to black pepper, which is to say the food is bland, unless you eat unseasoned food all the time and cannot handle any spice level.
Along with my normal order, I ordered the spicy fried rice with a side of spicy oil, I actually tried to drink this to taste the spiciness, it only tasted of oil, 0/10 spicy.
Best Asian food I’ve had even including china town. Very fresh ingredients in crab Rangoon, bubble tea, wonton dumplings, and shrimp. Very reasonably priced and such friendly service. Don’t let the unassuming outside fool you, this is a hidden gem with amazing food
This was takeout. I purchased the ChickenThai Style. I took out the green beans and added mushrooms. This has been one of the best Thai chicken dishes that I have had in my life! The spicy, basil taste is spot on! I also love that they cook this with the traditional ground chicken. The veggie egg rolls were also really tasty and they didn’t skimp on the veggies! I’ve been looking for a good Thai restaurant and this one really hit the mark. I’ve gone up North and downtown but this has been the best in a long while! I spent $18 which honestly is a typical price nowadays and portions at least reflected the price. Lunch for 2 days!
They raised the prices and changed the recipes on the fried rice and the pad Thai 😔😔😔😔😔😔😔
The food is on another level here. High quality Thai food and at a great price!
Good food, good music, good staff. It’s a vibe.
Panang curry was absolutely fantastic! Rice was perfectly cooked. Medium spice level was hot, but not insane. Butterfly rolls were a nice start, too. Def putting this order on my rotation :o)
Love it! Great vegetarian options and they have some vegan options. the food is good and filling. The workers are kind too.
We ordered take out, honestly it’s just okay. The combo fried rice has massive chunks of meat, but the flavor was just a little off for me. The Mongolian beef is in like a juice instead of a sauce and the noodles on top got soggy so it wasn’t the best texture. Meat was tender though.
Food was awesome, I wish we had something authentic like this in Streeterville.
Nice place, IDK about whether the food resembles stuff in Thailand, but it is really tasty. And you can get actually spicy stuff here.
Waiting time
The cucumber salad is so good. Pilsen has wonderful food choices and Rice & Noodles is no exception. I love their fresh options.
My fave Thai food since moving to Chicago. Food is fresh and well prepared.
This used to be another restaurant a long time ago, I always deliver for them and it smells so good. So I gave it a try. And it did not disappoint. THAT PEANUT SAUCE IS AMAZING!!!
Ordered a tom yum soup, was not asked how spicy I wanted. Not a single piece of lemon grass in there, instead there were pieces of a spinach like vegetable? Soup was really sweet, not sour and spicy as expected. Would not recommend
It's OK
This place is to DIE FOR! We were looking for a place to eat before an event at the United Center and stumbled upon Rice and Noodles. My god, I will make sure to make the trip here more often! We ordered the chicken pot stickers which were crispy and amazing. The Thai fried rice and pineapple fried rice were both amazing. I added some crushed peanuts on top of the Thai fried rice, perfection! They’ve got an amazing selection of boba drinks as well. I had the Thai iced tea and added the tapioca pearls. 1000/10! If I didn’t live 1.5 hours away, it be eating here once a week! For two dishes, pot stickers, and a tea, the total was $37, which is so reasonable!
My first time at the restaurant. I was surprised how good the food was.
I will be back soon
The pad see ew I received in delivery was dry and burned.
I'm not sure if that's authentic or not, but surprisingly really good. We ordered the pad kee mow (with pork), basil duck, beef salad. The pad kee mow strongly reminded me of a Cantonese noodle dish (my husband is Chinese), and the beef salad reminded me a lot like Vietnamese flavors (I'm Vietnamese), and the basil had a strong duck flavor to it. All the dishes had a lot of meat in it and was cooked perfectly. In a way, everything tasted very Asian fusion to me, but I liked it a lot! I would definitely come back.
The food was awful. The chicken skewers were outright stale and chewy. A bit overpriced for the portions as well.
I ate there food and me my wife and son got the stomach flu ,we were extremely sick could not hold any food down for 2 days, thats not right i like to explore restaurants that was not what i expected ,the owner needs to check on the freshnes of the food.🤦♂️
Very long cooking time and poor service
A very good dining experience overall.
This is my first visit since the refurbishment. I booked a table in the Grill. It's definitely a different place now.
First the picture doesn't do the portion size justice. The portions were big and a take out box of rice was included in the meal. You can customize your order with a bunch of add ons for fairly cheap. The meal itself was very flavorful and overall good but nothing spectacular. Overall I was satisfied and would give them another try.
Had Rice & Noodles for the first time last night and have to say that I think they're doing a great job. I'm a tough critic with these new inflated food prices but I think this place nailed it. Great food at a reasonable price. And fast too. Thanks!
Excelente muy atentos al servicio al cliente; la comida exquisita, recomendados…
Kind staff.
I will be back!
awesome spot for takeout i stay getting that duck curry 🤟🏼🤟🏼 staff are all super nice too
Great place, nice, tasty!
Food is solid. Have ordered previously. Decided to change it up a bit and i should’ve stuck with the usual. This time I ordered chicken pad see ew, no seasoning, no taste. It was bland. I also ordered the baby egg rolls … $5.75! They’re literally small about the size of your index finger to the mid crease. Sorry but for $6?! It wasn’t worth it. You get about 6 or 7, they tasted reheated or refried. Won’t be ordering from here for a while.
We’ve gotten takeout now a handful of times and it’s been good. The last time, the stir-fried noodle dish was a little bland than the other times.
Used to like this place. On a return visit we were completely disappointed. There was zero seasoning in everything. No salt. No spice. No nothing. I've written reviews often about too much salt but this was no salt at all. I told the girl at the counter. Maybe there is a different chef. No consistency. We won't go back.
Price is very reasonable. I ordered the chicken red curry and a spring roll. The chicken curry was very well proportionally balanced with the sauce , chicken and veggies . I’ve had previous experience at other that places where the chicken is minimal and it’s mostly sauce or veggies. It was also very delicious! Great service! Thanks! Hope this review helps. Everyone come to this place!!!!
I discovered Rice & Noodles while hanging out in the area. The restaurant offers Weekday Lunch Specials for $12.01. I tried the Spicy Seafood and Cucumber Salad. The meal comes with a side of rice.
I tasted every ingredient listed in the description: shrimp, baby corn, scallops, carrots, crab sticks, and squid. I enjoyed the spice. The rice cooker delivers perfectly cooked rice, and I tasted bite-size cucumber throughout my salad. The sweet & sour dressing was delicious.
Add Rice & Noodles to your list of great takeout restaurants. Seating is also available if you want to dine in. Street parking is available. Keep in mind the restaurant is near a high school.
I had the cashew checked, medium spicy and it was on point! Also enjoyed the fried tofu, edamame, veggie baby egg rolls, and veggie pot stickers. Food is amazing and service go fast and friendly!
they’re very friendly, but like others have said the flavors are just not there at all or not right. close to my house so it works in a pinch, but authentic this is not. i wish them well, but just know what you’re getting when you order from here…
Siempre que llegas a este lugar nunca están las ordenes listas
Highly recommend this small local restaurant!! Authentic dishes that were absolutely delectable 😋 For appetizers you can’t go wrong with fresh rolls: Rainbow Roll 10/10- crunchy fresh, bright dipping sauce.
Butterfly Roll 8/10- Classic dipping sauce, I think the roll would be more cohesive with more fresh herbs/lettuce and cooled cooked shrimp instead of fried.
The entrées are stars in their menu:
Tom Yum Noodles 9/10- packing punch and tons of flavor, the right amount of noodles and shrimp, even the mushrooms were bursting with flavor. It might be intense for someone who has never tried Thai food!
Pad Ki Mao 10/10- Ordered with beef, which was tender and savory to compliment this decadent noodle dish. Noodles were perfect and mixed with a good amount of veggies and earthy basil.
OVERALL: This is a 12/10 place!! Service is also counter only and quick/friendly.
It’s ok. The prices are very good for portion size. It’s a welcome addition to the neighborhood where there aren’t many Asian restaurants. The flavors are kinda muted and muddy. Just missing the acid, heat, and overall freshness and balance you get from more authentic places. I’d rather make the drive for Opart, TAC Quick, or In-On Thai next time. But rice and noodles is good in a pinch.
This was my new favorite spot, usually go here every 2 weeks but lately the food has been bad. I ordered 2 pad see ew's and they were both super salty.... Like you were licking a margarita rim. I decided to let it go but the next time I went i ordered spring rolls. They looked like they were days old, the vegetables did not look fresh at all, they were brown. when I bit into it had refrigerator taste. And the the chicken in the noodles was raw. I'm disapointed, I really like this place, hope they get it together.
Best pad thai and pad see ew noodles in pilsen hands down ✨
Awesome appetizers and decent pad Thai
100% recommend this place. Its such a cozy homey restaurant. Staff is great, food always gets ready quick. Their vegan/vegetarian options are delicious! We carry out from them every week and they never disappoint. Their Panang curry and thai spicy fried rice with tofu is to die for. One of the best thai places in the city.
It's Thai food that taste like Mexican Soups a bit. The coconut curry was more tomato broth than coconut milk which was disappointing. The Tom Kha Soup was like a tasty Onion soup meets Thai soup.i mean it was delicious for what it was but it wasn't a full on Thai food experience. I wish this place best of luck nonetheless, the staff i met was polite and sweet.
If you like Panda Express, PF chang, and the Asian menu at Noodles and Company, this place is a good step towards more authentic Asian flavors that still is accessible to the American palette. It’s not too far out of the comfort zone but is still bolder and more flavorful than chain Asian fare. If you love Asian food and are looking for the best, most flavorful, or most authentic Thai and Chinese, this is alright but not necessarily the place for you. Very fair prices and portion sizes, so if value is a primary deciding factor, this is a really solid option. Rating based on Pad Ki Mao and Pad Thai.
the food here is so good and now one of my to go places!! im very surprised, wasnt expecting much!
I usually order twice a day and today ordered the peppered shrimp Thai spicy. When I got home there was hardly any sauce and the Shrimp were all dry. And the dish consists only shrimp over steam rice with the sauce ($12). I called and asked me to return for more sauce . While waiting for the sauce the cook or the owner tried to educate me on how to order. I tried to explain that I wasn’t there for any preaching but since he has to professionalism. He continued to tell me that he was right and I was wrong . When all I did was to sit and wait for my food. To this cook or owner was more important to be right than to please a regular customer and even laughed. All I wanted to do was have my food and go I didn’t try to engage in a conversation or argument. Some people don’t understand that part of owning a business is to educate themselves in customers service and that their roll is to provide a service not deuce others . Especially when he seemed to be professional and admit when he’d done a poor job cooking the meal. I wish can upload the photo, it looked like vomit over the shrimp.// 12/29/22 I just read the response to my review, since that day never been back nor even read the response. Today received a notification to let me know the review helped. THE OWNER was the cook and the supposed apology to the original review shows how arrogant their attitude towards customers could be; “if you felt offended” . Again placing blame on the customer not taking accountability to inadequate behavior nor his manner in conveying his concern in future “misunderstanding”. And not acknowledging the cook’s awful, inconsistent cooking skills. One: regular customer orders exact same thing just about every day. The cashier/receptionist recognizes my voice and knows exactly my order. So, honestly the owner/ cook doesn’t know how my dish is usually served.?! Let’s analyze this further if the dish was consistent as far serving. Why would there be any need for requests?!
Humorous!!!
I ordered two different dishes; one was with noodles and the other one with fried rice - both were really good with lots of shrimps and veggies.
I can’t wait to come back to order their amazing lemonade.
If you are looking for the best crispy butterfly shrimp, I suggest you try them here. They are always so kind and generous so don’t be rude to them! No,seriously try their butterfly shrimp.
I keep coming back and the food is incredibly
delicious. The owner and everyone who works there is so kind and generous. Sincerely such a great neighborhood spot.
Always so fresh and lots of flavor. Great job, JESUS BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY'S
The best Thai food in Chi-Town. I mean it was hot and fresh and the staff were kind and wonderful. What more could one want :-)’
I love this place so much
Had the green curry chicken with spring rolls and it was superb! Been recommended this by a lot of friends in Pilsen for good reason. Absolutely delicious.
Food was delicious! We have been ordering take out since they opened, and they never disappointed us! Great food with low price and fast service for take out. People are very friendly, too.
Great prices. No apps over $6 🙏
Ordered online for a take out order. It was ready when I arrived. Their Pad Sew Ew noodles with steak and spice 🌶 was very very delicious. It’s a large portion. Enough for two people. Customer service was very welcoming. Credit cards are accepted. If you order online you can pay your order ahead of time.
I ordered through doordash and ordered a shrimp pad thai (mild) and taro sticky rice. The pad thai didn’t have any flavor to it. Im wondering if they forgot to give me sauce or if it was because i ordered it mild, but its just not good. The taro sticky rice was nice though. Would not order from here again.
Amazing portions and such friendly staff. LOVE LOVE LOVE
😊delicious food, friendly service. Good tea selection.
I am obsessed with this place. This is my comfort food. It’s such a hidden gem. I order from here FAR more than I’d like to admit. It’s my favorite Thai place in Chicago hands down. Just give it a try— you won’t regret it! Plus, the woman at the register is the sweetest and the price cannot be beat!!
Delicious food!!!
Great food, friendly service (and accommodating of allergies!) The butterfly pea tea is fantastic
Food was relatively ok but great portions.
Just closer to mediocre. Curry wasn’t flavorful. Papaya Salad barely had any papaya. The noodle dish was solid but just go to Bodhi Thai.
Good food. It's very hot inside because there is no AC. No more mask mandates.
My new favorite place. Amazing food and value!!!
Delicious, fresh, will be back often!
Amazing flavors. Better service.
Delicious! The pad see ew and the crab rangoon were *amazing*. What a wonderful place.
Some of the food I’ve tried is just average-to-good but oh my god, the spicy fried rice is to die for. And the Tom yum soup is absolutely perfect for warming yourself up during the winter. With nice service and an incredible price for takeout in Chicago rice and noodles is a real hidden gem. But I think a lot of people know about it now!
Great food-fresh and flavorful, fast service and great price.
Lunch menu is fire 🔥
Small, Friendly....good food..
Yummy
Not only is their food amazingly Delicious, but the young lady at the cash register and the gentleman with glasses are truly honest people. Thank you so much! My daughter's love this place and one of them came in to dine and forgot her laptop there, i went in the next morning, when they opened up. They did ask questions to confirm the laptop was my daughters, and sure enough, they handed it to me. I truly appreciate how honest they are!
Great food decent price especially for a big side of steamed broccoli.. only $2.50.. yummy healthy 😊
$10 lunch menu is simply unbeatable. Clean restaurant and generous portion. I'll be a regular.
Great flavourful food!
Great customer service, always very quick on my order, and the food is good! Never leave!!
A wonderful addition to our neighborhood. Great food, rapid service, and affordable. Currys are all excellent. My new favorite is Lad Nar with chicken.
Consistently yummy. Lots of Gluten Free options. Friendly and speedy service. Highly recommend.
Solid good food good price quick
Decent hole in wall Thai place. Dining area is clean and tidy. Pad See Ew was good and Tom Yum was flavorful. Spring rolls were fresh and food prep was quick. No beer or wine here. Seems to be somewhat popular with after school kids around 1500.
We ordered the Pad See Ew, our staple at most places, and it was pretty good. The service and timeliness is excellent!
Delicious food with a wide variety of vegetarian options. The turnaround is quick and the people are very kind. Highly recommend!
Great customer service. Very fast service and affordable prices. First time going but diffently going again
Glad I don’t have to go downtown for Thai food anymore 😭
The Green Curry was great!
My go-to has been the pad see ew and it's DELICIOUS!
It's cheap and fresh! Love it!
This place is SO good. The food is cheap and high quality, hot and fresh. My go-to is the shumai and the combination fried rice.
Delicious food! Very responsive to customer tastes like making the dishes more spicy :)
My first time having the food and it’s so delicious and a good portion for the price 10/10:)
Amazing food, great staff, quick responses and very pleasant! Will definitely be ordering form here again!
Had the Crazy Noodles and they didn’t disappoint very delicious and on point
Recently ordered Duck curry. Was tasteless and insipid and would almost qualify as vegetarian for lack of duck meat. It would have been better paired with yellow curry and coconut milk. This was not my first disappointing meal experience and will be looking elsewhere in future. For potential customers, read and consider review comments. There are many Thai restaurants with varying standards of cooking, so pay attention to reviews with multii restaurant experience.
