Bustling Pan-Asian eatery doling out noodle bowls, stir fries, Vietnamese coffee & other fare.
Great taste, great food. Horrible and unfriendly service. Quite frankly, the staff couldn't care less. Still, the food is worth your time and money. The curry options are delicious and you can customize how spicy your order will taste. All food tastes very Thai and it is a great experience if you consider the flavor regardless of the poor service.
I had the pad woo sen, Singapore noodles, and the curry puff. I personally don’t do good with menus that have a to many options so I ended up getting one for dine in and one to-go. The dine in portion was huge. So I really didn’t need the to-go. Both were as described. No complaints with anything not matching up. The curry puff did have much more “puff” than I expected. That’s a lot of crust! I ended up taking most of it off but what was left was flavorful and I’d order it again. Wouldn’t order the Singapore noodle again… the curry just didn’t do it for me. But the space is calm, clean, & inviting & staff were friendly so it was a good overall experience.
Was my first time there with a friend who comes regularly. The pot stickers were great. The noodles were delicious but need a bit more flavor. Lemonade delicious but a little too sweet. Tofu tastes great, because usually I don’t like it. The waitress was very nice and showed great customer service
Poor customer service, rude to certain customers. My friend had to wait almost 10 minutes for her food after everyone at the table had got their order and almost done eating. My beef for my beef fired rice was cut so big I couldn't eat it. I paid $37.10 for that. Very bad service🤨
Prices have increased from the menu I saw on here. The food was OK. Not bad by any means but not something I'd get a craving for. You order at the counter or online and then someone brings it to you at your table. I got the Pho and asked for shrimp instead of the beef it comes with. An upcharge wasn't mentioned or listed but I was charged an additional $3. Also had the Vietnamese spring rolls and they were very chewy like they were pre-made and had been sitting a while. Friend got shrimp and beef fried rice. Asked for medium spicy and it was pretty plain and not spicy at all. Vegetable croquettes were fine. Nothing special.

UPDATE: The "executive team" for the restaurant doesn't exist on Linkedin and their other social medias are clearly spam. They're NOT on the Michelin Guide as far as I can tell. I don't know what's going on here, but it stinks. Stay away.
TL;DR: Not worth the prices. There are better and cheaper Asian restaurants in the area.
I am a bartender and server, and out of respect for this restaurant I tried to email them my review, rather than posting a public review. However, the email on their website is no longer in service, so I will write this review instead.
We've eaten here multiple times over the last 6 months. The food is mediocre and inconsistent. If you get basics (soup, fried rice, etc) they can be pretty solid. However, I’ve twice had drunken noodles come without any seasoning. And no, not your typical “not enough salt” complaint, the dish literally came with noodles, vegetables, meat, and oil, that’s it. Even when it does have seasoning, it’s nothing special.
Prices have also increased 25% out of nowhere! A $40 dinner for two has turned into $50 for the exact same order. Bottom line, the food is not worth the price. They probably think they can get away with it being in HP, but regular people live here too.
I had four kids divorced twice went to the moon and back and still have no food
Amazing food!! Speedy service! ❤️

Inedible beef salad as meat too tough; spring rolls were not rice paper but more like a tortilla wrap with no fresh herbs: and stale ingredients. curries were okay but not enough meats .
Noodles are ok, not the greatest, kind of mushy. They charged extra for a cup of sauce to go.
Mediocre. Edible, but literally every single other option on the block is better.
Was Extremely hungry and just happen to walk into this place. Not even FIVE MINUTES of sitting down, A ROACH WAS CRAWLING ACROSS THE TABLE. I left immediately smh
The food is generally good. A good option for a quick lunch.
Great for the price and location.
Worst Pad Thai ever. Overcooked, stuck together, only separated in clumps, and the thinnest noodles I ever had in a Pad Thai dish. Don't even try to heat it up the next day. It becomes a gelatinous mess. I was so disappointed.
Not tasty at all. They should do better, know they have a captive customer base on campus but still food can’t be that meh tasting. Next door Medici on the other hand is awesome! Go there instead.
Great quantity without compromize in quality.
Perfect food, strongly recommend green curry
Our 1st time here. It was amazing. Loved the staff, the food was amazing. Can't wait to go back.
I give it 4 1/2 stars for food, service, and atmosphere. Parking can be a challenge sometimes. The shumai, BBQ pork crispy rolls and spring rolls are very good. The Singapore noodles are also good.
Great place, Friendly staff! Tried Singapore noodles. It was delicious and adequate proportion.
Delicious food :)
always a reliable pick with great service and amazing food. love to grab lunch here for when we dont want a full on ‘sit down’ place but also dont want to go to a drive through. i also always appreciate the clean tables/bathrooms and accomadations and friendly staff
The food lacked flavor, the lady taking our order was rude/ not friendly. The portions were small, even when we paid for extra chicken.
Pancit on the Southside, yeaaaah!
Quick and easy take out process 👍🏻
Delicious Lo-mein 😋
Fast friendly service.
Noted as closing at 830 pm but they actually appear to close at 800 pm. Lots of wasted time driving over there ...
Dine-in is available. Tables are cleaned after each use and nicely spaced. Depending on time of day, I can read while I eat without feeling pressure to hurry. Staff is always friendly.
I order online a lot using Menufy and have not been disappointed; order is always ready at my requested time, and I get just what I ordered. Food is good with fresh, crisp vegetables and tender chicken. The baba Chicken egg rolls are delicious 😋
Came in with my baby right after his doctor's appointment at the University of Chicago and was not greeted at all when I walked in. Two of the servers looked at me then away and I'm unsure why. However a lady finally turned around and greeted me after I was standing for about 2 minutes without anyone assisting me in getting a table.
While in the restaurant, I heard the servers speak Spanish and they must not have thought that I spoke Spanish because I do and they were making jokes about me being alone in the restaurant with my baby. I felt completely ignored the entire time at the restaurant. No one asked if I was okay or needed anything else.
My food was not so good either. I ordered chicken lo mein and all of the noodles were broken up into little chunks. it looked like someone had already ate the food honestly and had put it back into the plate.
I won't be back.
Yes. Love pai noodles staff nice.. good atmosphere...
Clean friendly great food at good prices
Poor customer service, rude to certain customers. My friend had to wait almost 10 minutes for her food after everyone at the table had got their order and almost done eating. My beef for my beef fired rice was cut so big I couldn't eat it. I paid $37.10 for that. Very bad service🤨
I spent a lot (and I mean A LOT) of time here as a UChicago student living in Hyde Park. This was my go to place-- I ate here at least once a week for three years. I had my birthday dinners here, I studied here, I took my family here, I brought all my friends who visited UChicago here. Wide range of asian food-- Japanese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Thai, and more. They did each dish well and consistent. Now I live in bucktown but I have made the drive a few times to get my pad woon sen and tom kha kai soup. Will forever be grateful to the staff for fueling me throughout my college experience.
The food was good and the staff very nice and polite
Food has been great for years. Unfortunately, their online ordering is no longer their own in-house delivery but rather a third party system (like DoorDash/UberEats). I intentionally ordered through their website in an attempt to avoid such services. When my order was never delivered to me, I was frustratingly told that I'd ordered through a third party (again, I ordered directly through their website's online ordering system, which I'd assumed had been Noodles directly). I had to go through various hoops to get my order refunded (which they did).
After over two decades of eating at Noodles, this has left a very bad taste in my mouth about them and made me wonder if I ever want to bother ordering from them again, especially considering there are other Thai options in the neighborhood.
If you are attempting to avoid delivery services like DoorDash/UberEats, do not order directly through their website.
Stingy with the bags. Will change you for one when they feel like it...
I'm only giving 4 stars because of the parking. If you want to visit this place, be sure to NOT drive there. The service was excellent. The host was very friendly and had a beautiful smile and spirit. We ordered our food ahead of time due to the parking situation, but soon we were relieved of that trouble. When we got inside, we were seated immediately. The place is rather small but there weren't any large crowds. The restaurant was clean but we did have a pesky net bothering us as we ate. The restroom was clean as well. Although the restaurant serves seafood dishes there was no smell of fish. My overall experience was delightful 😊. I forgot to take pictures due to my hunger😁
Incompetent and inauthentic Tom Yum soup. All Tom Yum soup contains lemongrass, but this did not.
Food is great and comes out quickly, location is convenient. Only downside is their lack of a good system for seating people and taking orders. I also love their music selection - some real hits :)
I’m a vegan and I brought my two young kids (non-vegan). I ordered chow fun with veggies and got them teriyaki chicken with rice. The food was pretty sub par. What was amazing was the ginger beer/ginger ale. Overall, the place is nice and clean and the staff was great. Just pass on the chow fun.
Enjoyed lunch there on Saturday. Every dish was delicious. Service was fast and the prices were great. We were visiting from out of town. It would become a regular if we lived in the area.
Had the best time at this little spot in Hyde Park. Excellent chicken noodle soup. Wonderful, friendly service
Been here twice dining in and were both treated rude by the front lady (asian). Queuing up to place an order at the counter but she is showing unwelcome and giving rude service both times however not the customer before me or people who sat next to my table. Food is very salty.
I ate at Noodles Etc for the first time on Friday night. Had their noodles with tofu and vegetables. Ended up with bad food poisoning the next morning. They were out of most of the items my friend ordered and paid for but they did not notify us until last minute when we asked where our food was. Do not recommend.
Been here twice, once dine-in and this time take-out. Their pho was overly sweet and the noodle was over-boiled that it was sloppy. This time I ordered chow-mein, or at least what they call this slime. It's submerged in an excess of overly salty and sour sauce, which makes the noodle gloopy after merely 5 minutes. Noodles are deep-fried previously and totally fractured: not even a string is longer than 2 inches. Even though the veggies are fried separately, they are overcooked and gives a starchy texture inside out.
A popular establishment for UChicago students. Used to come here sometimes for their Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. Great Asian dishes at a reasonable price.
The food is very delicious, and staff is friendly.
Nobody brought us water and the QR code is not functioning.
I come here for lunch pretty often and I really love this place. Yes, the food is a little expensive for Thai but the portions are huge and most dishes taste amazing. I normally get the pad se-eu or pad thai but the menu is really extensive so you can definitely get other Thai dishes. The service is always quick and today I got my food less than 10 minutes after ordering on a Friday afternoon. The staff also allowed me to change from carry out to dine in while making my order with no problems. I would really recommend Noodles Etc for a quick lunch or dinner if you don’t mind spending a little money!
Soup: 5 star. Drunken noodles:2-3 star, they were mushy. Long wait, but I understand they were busy and only 1 server. I would go back, but order a different dish.
Experienced blatant racism and a total disregard for my presence in the establishment. Was treated as a second class citizen and on multiple occasions I was ignored so employees could service and tend to others in the building. Would not recommend due to terrible experience.
The pad thai never misses 🔥🔥🔥
Excellent service and food. 10/10 some of the best food I've eaten.
Quite surprised at the abundance of sugar in the noodle dishes. Noodles were overcooked in all three (different) entrees ordered. The pad thai was simply inedible. Surprisingly, the thai iced coffee was bland and lacked even a trace of sweetness. The pan fried gyoza (clearly a purchased product) was the only good dish served. I sincerely hope this business revisits the sauces in the noodle dishes as well as the manner they are prepared. Cute place, pleasant staff, food needs help.
The ramen was over cooked and broth had no flavor. Very disappointed.
I am not one to leave reviews, but this place deserves at least 15 stars. the food was delicious and filling, the environment is very friendly and the place ifself os really cute. food was at a good price, all the service provided was amazing, and everything was clean and organized. i wish i lived around here so i could come all the time :D
The Ginger Chicken is amazing ...
I had the Green Curry and dined in my first time here. The dish was good, the staff was friendly and attentive, and I enjoyed the vibe and atmosphere in the restaurant. I thought the prices were decent, not too expensive.
I came back here a second time to get a Pad Thai but had to do a takeout because it was slightly past 7:30pm. The Pad Thai was decent, but I've had better at other Thai restaurants. I felt like there were not enough sauces used in the cooking and it lacked chilli and spice overall. That said, I wouldn't mind coming back here again to try other dishes on the menu.
Excellent food and service. The seaweed salad portion was huge and the pad see ew was outstanding.
Great prices and good food that's quick
Great taste, great food. Horrible and unfriendly service. Quite frankly, the staff couldn't care less. Still, the food is worth your time and money. The curry options are delicious and you can customize how spicy your order will taste. All food tastes very Thai and it is a great experience if you consider the flavor regardless of the poor service.
Superb soups as well as noodles. Singapore noodles absolutely delicious.
The menu and the service is really good.
My only complain is that now you have to order through an app even when dining in. It seems really inconvenient to me. What happens to the server taking the order and paying after eating? You are supposed to pay and tip before eating.
Food was delicious! Cute little restaurant, just a little annoying to order there.
Prices have increased from the menu I saw on here. The food was OK. Not bad by any means but not something I'd get a craving for. Friend got shrimp and beef fried rice. Asked for medium spicy and it was pretty plain and not spicy at all. Vegetable croquettes were fine. Nothing special.
My favorite place for Thai food! Probably the best red curry noodle, and rangoons I ever had.
Sad they are so far from where I live, as I live downtown(and they don’t deliver to here).
So I have to commute by bus to get down to here: but it’s worth it, lol!
Completely horrible. Ordered the lomein. No sauce no flavor. It was like they boiled everything in water and put it in a bowl. Chicken was like rubber. Never again.
Found a little cockroach in my vegetarian noodle soup while eating it 🤮
They replaced the dish but I’m never visiting them again.
I wanted some Pancit noodles without having to go to a restaurant that was far away so I wanted to see if it was a closer restaurant and I found Noodles Etc. I am very happy with the restaurant, my noodles and the nice people and service. It’s a very nice restaurant and you won’t be disappointed if you go try it out. I will definitely be going back soon.
One of the best, Asian restaurants in Hyde Park!
A shadow of its former glory. food was cold and unfresh
very bad service
I guess you pay for what you get. Considering that it’s not a franchise, I expected a lot more flavor in the food. Sizing is also off, you get appetizers portions for takeout.
But it’s easy and quick and if that’s what you’re looking for, this is the place. First and last time ordering from this place.
The customer service here is really poor. I felt really hurt and disrespected by the by the management and when I voiced my concerns they said “that’s neither here nor there”, among other things. No apology, no understanding, no voice of reasoning. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, as the food is decent and the location is nice. However, none of this is worth the disrespect you will be met with. Beware, especially if you are a person of color or a person that cares about other people.
Warm noodles on a cold day. Good food and great service.
I was looking for a cheap place to eat by myself before a meeting, and this place exceeded my expectations! Loved the tofu pad thai and although it was a big serving, I finished it all! The food was out of the kitchen super fast--only about 5 minutes! I assume for bigger parties it may take longer, but still, I was impressed! I will definitely be coming back!
Absolutely phenomenal restaurant. Amazing food, especially the pad thai
Pad Se Eu noodle with chicken: $11.50, did not have the flavor of high temperature hot wok produced, and the lack of high temperature caused the dish to be watery.
Lomein noodle with chicken:$12, noodles were way too soft and the dish lacked flavor.
Order was delivered at the wrong adres. No refund or New delevery. REALLY NOT HOW YOU THREATH CUSTOMERS....
I ordered various main dishes for takeout. When I got home, I discovered that the containers were small and not close to being full. The portions were closer to appetizer than main portions. I had asked for spicy sauce, which they did not include. Avoid this place for takeout.
Tasty Thai food, maybe a bit pricey for the cost.
Had the Drunken Noodles with chicken. The consistency was soupy, dull flavor. Haven't been here in a while but not the same as before...
This place is delociouse and my son eats there all the time
Noodles, Etc is a great restaurant with delicious, filling food made with fresh ingredients. They make dishes to order and can accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences including gluten intolerance and a vegan diet. Their drunken noodles with tofu and veggie fried rice are great! The owner has been helping the low-income community by supporting Midwest Workers Association for years. Definitely make the trip to Hyde Park to eat at Noodles!
The Pad Thai was very good. We had been told when ordering that we could use those GF rice noodles in another menu item in order to make it gluten free as well, but when we went to eat it the rice noodles had not been used, and we could not eat the dish. We had already left restaurant and didn’t have time to return. I checked and it was very clearly marked on the printed receipt, so it seems it was the kitchen’s fault and not the person that put in the order.
While ordering the restaurant looked clean and staff seemed pleasant, but not being able to eat an entire meal due to a kitchen mistake is huge for those of us with dietary restrictions.
Super salty and pricey. Not authentic Asian food. Will not return or recommend it
Good tasting noodles at a reasonable price for the area and clean inside of the restaurant. I got the drunken noodles and was happy with the taste and spiciness of the food. There's been better drunken noodles, but not at this reasonable of a price and rapid service. It would be nice to have this location stay open a bit later as I accidentally came near the end of their business day (sorry!) thinking that they would still be open for a few more hours. Would definitely come back to eat here again!
Compared to some fancy restaurants with 5-hour lineups, this place has better flavors and way faster serving speed. The internal design and music are very cozy. They haven’t raised their prices that much at all since two years ago, but it’s the same food of great quality and taste <3
Decent prices and delicious food.
Great little thai food option with friendly service that I'm glad we visited. It's been some years since I've been here, and the quality is good as ever.
Worst dinner Ever!! Made me so nauseous. The food was horrible. Overpriced. Couldn’t get our order right. Forgot to bring out drinks. Do not go here!! It is not worth it!! How do you cook plain white rice wrong?
Lil too much soy sauce but food was great
炒麵有臭雞蛋味,湯麵聞起來有點像垃圾桶,蝦有酸臭味,兩個人花了30幾,回家馬上拉肚子😂😂😂 真的洗胃
A fried noodles with stinky egg smell, soup smells like a trash, shrimps are not fresh. Can’t tell how clean this place is lol 😂
btw using QR code for ordering is so stupid, your menu website have a lot of bugs. I can’t even add a credit card until I turn off all my privacy and ads strategy on my browser😂😂
Panang was delicious.
I felt ripped off after getting my order home. In the shrimp fried rice there were only five pieces of shrimp. There was no shrimp in the egg rolls and the meat which was supposed to be chicken and shrimp in the dumplings was all ground up and the dumplings were very small.
Bland greasy food a lot of oil, will not return.
I arrived with a graduation party of 11 people at lunch time. They seated us with no problem. The food was great and the service was excellent.
Great, fast service with delicious pan-asian dishes.
Good pocket friendly option near university of Chicago.
Noodles Etc. a local U of Chicago spot for fresh soups, noodles and appetizers. They offer dine in, carry out or delivery. Service feels a bit like a diner. Get a paper menu, decide, order, then sit. Kitchen is fast and the staff attentive. We ordered ShuMai, Pho and Ramen. Shu Mai was steamed to perfect taste and consistency. would have liked a bit of ginger in the dipping sauce. Soup broth although very tasty were the same for both our Pho and Ramen. Interested enough we felt the Ramen needed a bit more love. Lunchtime was lively with patrons coming and going, would still recommend Noodles Etc. for a Hyde Park noodle fix.
Affordable place with mediocre food. Their Pho and Pad Thai are okay.
I only get the Chicken Pad Thai which is delicious, but been thinking of trying other foods on the menu.
Fast and friendly service. We had a tasty noodle soup and tofu and broccoli in oyster sauce.
Some of the best Thai food I've ever had, and the staff was very nice!
But the space is calm, clean, & inviting & staff were friendly so it was a good overall experience.
Lady who took our order was nice and the food was perfect.
Lovely experience.
An excellent small dining establishment that's great to go or to dine in (food comes out pleasantly quickly). It has an authentic feel, and the noodles are a rich assortment of flavors that I fell in love with at first bite. Noodles, Etc. had been on my list to go to for a while now, and I'm glad I finally got to go. A can't miss.
We order 4 dishes for lunch on Wednesday. It was carry out and wedid not have to wait for long:
- beef pad see ew (average, small portion)
- chicken pad thai (mushy, broken noodles, oily, not so flavorful)
- tofu pad thai (less oily, less broken noodles, slightly more flavorful compared to the chicken pad thai)
- mixed veggies with tofu (average)
There seems to be a great variation in quality and portion size despite being the same dish. Nice space to dine in and quick service though.
My family and I tried our first time at Noodles Etc and it was great!
•Pictured fist is the Lo Mein with chicken added. It was so yummy and the sauce was very tasty. I like thinner noodles so this was right up my alley
•Pictured second is the Pho. It was so full of flavor and plenty of portion
•Pictured last is the Yaki Udon. These were a thicker more chewy noodle. This was very filling and packed with flavor.
I recommend trying them out! They’re so good and the ambiance is low key. You order your meal at the front and they bring it to you at the table if you’re dining in. Hope you enjoy
Very reasonably priced food that comes out steaming hot and very quickly! A good balance of meat, veggies, and noodles in the noodle dishes. However, I noticed that there was not much spice and the food was a bit too salty in an attempt to compensate.
Our go-to place for Chinese and Thai food in Hyde Park. Good value, and tasty food.

Noodles Etc. is a neighborhood gem. My boys love the Pad Thai so much that I don’t think they’ve tried anything else! The green curry is delicious with complex spices and the delicious coconut milk. Anyone adventurous enough to venture out should give it a try.
The one star review is because the restaurant charged me twice. When I placed my order, I was charged. Then after I finished eating, they said that the charge didn't go through. However, I pointed out that my Google Pay indicated that the first charge DID go through. They said that the charge didn't go through so I needed to pay which I did because they said if I was charged twice to simply call them and they would refund one of the charges.
Of course I was correct and I WAS charged twice. So, I called them and reminded them of the incident. They said that they would look into it and get back to. I called them AGAIN the next day since they NEVER called me back. The person I spoke with said that I should dispute it with my credit card company.
So, after promising to reverse the charge when I told them in person that they charged me twice and after never calling me back or taking care of the double charge, I disputed it with my credit card company.
Sadly, this place is unreliable and dishonest for a business. Don't trust them. I also suggest triple checking your bill because they will likely try to sneak something extra into the bill hoping you won't notice. It's sad that a business operates this way.
This is a quaint little place, nestled in the Hyde Park community of Chicago, IL. This was my first time visiting. I stumbled upon them from a Google search and I was happy I decided to give this restaurant a try. I enjoyed their steamed Chicken Gyoza and Pad Woon Sen with Chicken. Both dishes were delicious! During my second visit, on 12/15/2021, I enjoyed the same food as before plus the Tom Kha Kai soup.
Ordered for pickup. It was bland and underwhelming. Thai spring rolls are not wrapped in rice paper-definitely not what the menu advertised. I also had to re-season my drunken noodles because it tasted bland.
Three stars because the price was very reasonable and take out service was friendly.
