Chai Asian Bistro (Under new management)
I just went to Chai Asian Bisto last night for dinner with my cousin who visited from Austin, Texas. We are Thai and I have to say the foods there were beyond our expectations, we had chicken satay, chive dumplings, Pad see ew, Lad nar and Boat noodle soup with extra beef balls (not in their regular menu). My cousin was very happy to eat delicious authentic Thai foods in Chicago and we definitely will go back there again.
Update!. New owner which means new recipe. I tasted it today, it's plain no flavor wheres the tamarind sauce, not a balance of meat to noddle ratio, noddles pasted together, minimum vegetables. I asked for extra spicy. Did not follow instruction orders. Paid $30 for 2 lunch special thinking it was the original owner. Sadly back search for a balance of flavor spicy and sweet pad Thai. Don't taste the love!. No longer my favorite place.
Delightful athletic pad Thai, had chicken shrimp. Also their fish is delicious too. I'm a regular now.
Ordered delivery, tamarind tilapia. Amazing, arrived still crispy. Sauce isnt too overpowering, smelled and and tasted deliciously. Crab rangoon was just as tasty.
Disappointing. Have been going to and ordering from Chai for 20+ years. Placed a large order ($200) for delivery (had guests that wanted Thai food before they went to O’Hare for a flight). Online delivery confirmation said find would arrive by 6:30 pm which would have given plenty of time for my guests to have dinner before the flight. When food did not arrive by 7pm we called and were not given an answer about when the food would arrive. Food arrived after 7:30 pm —by that time my guests had left. In addition, we were shorted an item we paid for…when we called they said they would refund the amount but never did. Food was mediocre at best. Definitely not the quality of Chai in the past.
My wife ended up paying for a meal she couldn't eat. Despite her clear request for no spice, the dish arrived extremely spicy. After we sent it back to the kitchen, it returned once more, yet this time it was inedible. This experience not only wasted our time but also left us feeling frustrated and disappointed…
Here is a joke to lighten the mood.
Where does a one-legged waitress work?
At an iHop
I don't want to weigh down and poorly rate a family owned business but this was probably the worst food. I have ever had. I ordered Tom yum soup. It lacked flavor. It tasted like uncooked vegetables/sliced tomatoes put into water added with sugar and then separately boiled shrimp. I could have saved my self the $20 and made myself a meal a million times better with less of a wait time.

Authentic Thai food. I am a Thai and I love the food here.

If you're looking for delicious and authentic Thai and Asian cuisine in Chicago, look no further than Chai Asian Bistro. Their menu offers a wide variety of dishes, but I highly recommend the moo ping (grilled pork skewers), boat noodles (hearty beef and noodle soup), and kaoh pad (fried rice). Each dish was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The restaurant itself has a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a great spot for a casual lunch or dinner. I highly recommend Chai Asian Bistro!
If you like your food cold.
Super fresh and very yummy Thai food
Very good food
Pretty good food. Decent prices. Really friendly staff!
Food was good but everything was in tiny proportions, ordered basil beef and sticky mango rice. I will stick to my usual thai resto called Joys Noodle in lakeview which is consistent with quality and good size proportions for the past 25 years.
We had not visited this restaurant for a while, even though it is in our neighborhood. We ordered take-out for nine dishes, but we were dismayed by the poor quality of the chicken/ meat in most of them. It had an odd and sour flavor that raised doubts about its freshness. It was also very dry and hard to chew. We felt deceived and unhappy by this experience. I would strongly suggest that you steer clear of this place.
Brug Chug out🍷
Food is good place could use some paint
Great food. Pleasant small space.
Great Thai and other Asian cuisine.
Best Grill pork ever!
Also... don't miss the Drunken noodle!
This was a fabulous Thai restaurant. I had several dishes and they were top notch. I have traveled in Thailand and the food was authentic and delicious!
The food is absolutely delicious. The summer roll is my favorite as is the Thai roasted chicken. The flavors are great. Spicy tuna is also great as are the potstickers. The service is awesome.
Love the food. Fresh and homemade. Tom yum soup the best.
Authentic Thai food!
Awesome food! HOWEVER, terrible customer service. I got my order online to pick up, once I got there, they charged me more, saying that prices went up. Not just the price went up as also, its coming less food than usual use to come, I would say 30% less. My Pad Thai came with parts of egg shell as well.!!! see pictures!
Called to order a carry out dinners, the woman was very rude when I asked a question and said " let's get to the point". I guess business must be fabulous when you can treat a regular customer with such rudeness.
Great Volcano sushi!! Thank you for service and for Ice tea ❤️
Going to Chai's for years. Love the beef salad. During covid we've been ordering out. Always hot and on time.
Order from here a few times over the last month. Everything has tasted great!
Ordered carry out online today and was given a time to pick the food up. Went on the suggested time and was told they just got the order and to come back at least 25min later. During covid when all these business rely on take out and delivery, this is ridiculous. The woman working the carry out didn’t even seem remotely sorry or worried about this mix up. Just be aware this could happen to you if you place orders here.
Great food fast service the noodles are great
My dad and I went here on a whim while dropping me off at college. It looked a bit sad and empty when we went in but after we ordered our food, people came in one after another to pick up take out. This was THE BEST THAI FOOD we have ever eaten (in America). Definitely deserves higher ratings. Will come back again. Lovely little mom and pop traditional place!
Pork skewers (mu-ping) and Tom yum soup is great!
Great food, and I had a fun time in the bathroom with a few handsome patrons!
Excellent homemade Thai food
Very mediocre food....but at least they turned on the lights when we came in lol.
Okay food served by unenthusiastic and unfriendly servers. Bathroom was filthy.
Good food. Small dining room, really great take out.
Great Thai food, yummy.
Best boat noodle soup ever!
Love boat noodle.
A hidden gem. My wife and I love Thai food and were looking for a new spot to try on date night. The place is quite small, but the decor is cozy and inviting.
The food was fantastic. We tried shrimp tofu potstickers, tom yum soup, kee mao, and basil chicken. Everything was wonderful with fresh ingredients and plenty of vegetables.
We're picky about Thai food and would highly recommend chai's!
เตี๋ยวเรืออร่อย
I got Pad See Ew exactly what I have always wanted, smokey, peppery, and they were nice enough to ask me if I wanted “Chinese broccoli”. Delicious!
Fantastic pad Thai and crispy chicken is delicious!
Yummy food
Clean, fast and yummy. Had California roll, Philly roll and The Dragon roll along with the spicy fried rice. The sushi was delicious and fresh, the fried rice was flavorful and a very large portion--I plan to take it for lunch for a couple of days. ;) Overall good experience.
I have eaten here many times. It is always amazing.
One of the best Thai restaurants in Chicago.
A neat, nicely decorated restaurant, with very decent Thai food. Reasonably priced too. Liked their Pad Thai, Curries and deserts.
Food, service and people are good. Would recommend to my friends.
Sushi is good for me.
boat noodle the best
