Japanese & Thai soups, salads, sushi & entrees served in a straightforward setting. BYOB.
The food here was very good! We had the Hawaiian fried rice, edamame, gyoza, and the red hot roll. We came around 7 on a Saturday and there were only two servers. They seemed a little overwhelmed and could’ve given us more attention. We had to go up and give our order and ask for our check when we waited too long for service. I would still come back for the food.
We tried this place on a whim and regretted it immediately. The sushi was just plain bad. They doused it in spicy mayo and the so-called spicy salmon just had a dollop of Sriracha on top. It was also rolled poorly and was falling apart. The vegetables in the green were soggy and the chicken wasn’t tasting good. Overall, I would never recommend this place to anyone and would encourage you not to spend your money here.
I can’t give a honest rating on service because we have pick up. I had the beef pad see ew. Portions fair. Taste 10/10. Quality 10/10. Protein was decent.
My partner had the “hawaiana fried rice”
Flavors are great. Portions are full. Fruit and vegetables were fresh. Not pineapple style fried rice just two large pineapple rings.
They have a free item option if you go to their website and order $30 or more. We used one for a free soda.
This is a great go-to place in Uptown. Nothing fancy but always solid Japanese and Thai food. Special rolls are quite good and flavorful and appetizers are also worthy of consideration. The place is BYOB, which saves great deal as long as you remember to bring your adult beverage. Parking is somewhat limited due to the fact that it share the lot with a medical research facility. You can, however, park in the facility’s assigned spaces at nights.
This place is very run-of-the-mill standard level of Thai food quality. I tried my friend's sushi, which I would say is not Dib's strong suit - it did not taste natural to me. The item that did stand out to me was the Tom Kha Soup. It is a light coconut milk soup with fresh lime juice, lemongrass, citrus leaves, tomatoes, and mushrooms. It had this mild bit of sweetness from the coconut milk that kept you coming back for more.
The crispy green chicken was good I like it complex flavour a little spicy but I tried too egg roll was so oily drippings a lot of oil which is not good and acceptable you can’t have the taste good. And I found on my table a several times ants so restaurant must be clean
All the best
It was uncomfortably cold. Our table and other tables had to wear our coats while dining. It was not enjoyable at all.
Great food at a great price and always has free parking. Staff is always very kind and place is very clean. Never had a bad meal there. Love their spicy foods too.
This place is beyond good, deserves a Michelin star. Would recommend it to anyone
Being biased because I live in the neighborhood, the best Thai spot in town!
My go to spot for comfort food:
Tom Kha Chicken soup
Pad Thai or Red/Green Curry
Sushi
Very relaxed place to dine at.
We were sat at the front of the restaurant which was fine because that WAS the restaurant but when I asked for hot tea and was told I could have sweetened or unsweetened iced tea I knew I was in for it. Unfortunately I had already ordered my chefs choice nigiri special. Which came 5 minutes later as a platter of brown rice encompassed crap sushi. I resolved myself to just take what I could get but the waitress swiftly took it away once she saw my disappointment. I ended up watching my kid eat her food while I sat and waited for mine. The “chef’s choice nigiri” once it arrived was one piece of shrimp, 2 pc of salmon and 2 pc of tuna. Oh wow! Dont bother trying anything new here…
Ordered pickup and was about 5 mins past the pickup time I was told. They told me "too many orders, sorry we haven't started yours so it will be 20 more mins." There wasn't even a big crowd just not good ordering management. Shame because the food is actually good but this was pretty frustrating.

Just ate takeout dinner from Dib. So disappointing. Both dishes we ordered were flavorless - stir-fried veggies w/Tofu and Panang curry w/Chicken. The curry was over-spiced but also flavorless, quite an accomplishment. I asked for no mushrooms in the stir-fry, but they put them in anyway. There wasn't a whole lot of tofu in the stir-fry. The carrots and broccoli in the mix were fine, but it wasn't enough to save the meal. Also waited 10 minutes for the order, even though we placed it online and the system says you can tell it what time you are coming - we ordered a full hour ahead and still had to wait.
I've been coming here for years and the food and service are always amazing.
I haven't had a single bad thing on the menu.
I do not recommend their Pad Thai or their crab Rangoons. So nasty. Worst pad Thai and crab Rangoons I’ve ever had in my life. Even the crab Rangoons at a Chinese buffet are better than these. The pad Thai was mushy and super bland. Idk how the other reviewers say they liked them. Must have never had good pad thai. I threw everything away after two bites. Would never go again. Waste of my money
Lovely place without a fuss - nice outdoor seating, good food.
Dips noodles Is not good. Too sweet.
Love the food here. The pad Thai is phenomenal. You should only allow service animals. I lost my appetite due to a dog being in your establishment and throwing up inside. That’s disgusting… these people think they can bring the dogs everywhere… it is not petsmart here. Keep dogs at home
Great selection of sushi and great taste!
The food was pretty mid. The lunch special is a good value (entree, app, and soup), but otherwise not impressed by the food. It’s a bit bland.
The lunch special is a really good deal and the food is out of this world! I got the Tom kha soup(with chicken), cucumber salad, and red curry (with chicken). My husband got the Tom yum soup (with chicken), gyoza, and pad see-ew (with beef), and we got the taro custard to go. All of the food was incredible, and I had even considered ordering the same meals a second time to go so I could eat it again! Highly highly recommend. Before I leave town, I will absolutely be getting the biggest container of Tom kha soup they'll give me to take back home!
A great place to pip in for a quick lunch or dinner. Free parking is a big plus in this neighborhood.

Really good fried spring rolls
La .ayaria del tiempo voy a la hora del luch tiene un precio accesible y la comida muy rica
siempre salgo satisfecha.
Visited this place spontaneously and liked it more than I expected. A cozy local spot with quick service. I generally don’t love the idea of mixing Thai food and sushi (I’m from the west coast and I’ve always wondered if this is a Chicago thing??). Partner and I were just having a quick bite/ early dinner so we shared the scallop maki and fried softshell crab. We enjoyed both dishes.
This a cute spot. Really cool vibe. Good food without any of the pretensiousness.
The crowd here is eclectic and cool.
Our food was delish. Loved that it's BYO w/o any corkage fee. Would absolutely recommend this place and it's a spot on my to-go list now.
Good food, chill spot, cute charm, without the crowds...✅✅✅
10/10 recommend
They were super accommodating for a last minute large party. We had some amazing spider rolls, chicken satay, fried rice, and more. Don’t forget to BYOB.
Food it's good and reasonably priced. We eat get frequently and swim continue to eat here
Small place, big footprint. Great sushi, the fried rice was fresh and tasty.
The food is tasty and always hot!
Good is great but service is very slow dining in. And if getting delivery, they don’t update the apps
I love living a block from Dib. Amazing tofu pad thai. Great basil chicken. I'm a consistent customer because their prices are so reasonable, especially for the lunch special. Thank you Dib. Keep doing your thing.
Tasty lunch special! And great sushi!

Never had Thai or sushi more flavourless. And we were starving from a 10 hr drive, so could’ve eaten anything and enjoyed it. Shockingly bland and a waste of (quite a bit of) money. The sushi tasted like rubber and sadly ended up in the trash.
Ordered both dine in and delivery, and it's probably better to come in since they've not been too packed during our visits, and you'll get your dish served in a pretty way! All the food is tasty and beautiful, from tuna bowls to omelet to pad thai to chicken skewers. The drink menu feels somewhat limited but it's fine with food like what they've got.
Great place for sushi 🍣 😋 👌!
The food was so good and very friendly for those who don't try a lot of Thai food. Very good service and the chill atmosphere is nice and quaint.
Quick service, best pad thai and drunken noodle around. Great sushi too. Also have great deals.
Ordered takeout and delivery was super fast, food was delicious and portions were great. Crab Rangoon is fantastic and all of the entrees were fresh and definitely didn’t skimp on meat or veggies. Prices are also very reasonable.
We love this place, the food is awesome and the staff are very friendly.
Really love it
Had me waiting with open tables available! Can't tell you how the food was because they told me to wait and took 2 calls. So I left, never again! Some people have lunch times that are over soon!
Loved it. Service was awesome and the food was great too. My favorite dishes were the egg rolls and crab rangoons. Lots of options. Great AC for summer time. Will be visiting again.
Tasty, affordable Thai food
Low key neighborhood restaurant. Thai and sushi. We've been going for years.
The crispy green chicken was good I like it complex flavour a little spicy but I tried too egg roll was so oily drippings a lot of oil which is not good and acceptable you can’t have the taste good. And I found on my table a several times ants so restaurant must be clean
All the best
Been going for years! Really good food and they have many options for everyone!
One of the best Thai/sushi places in Chicago. I’ve lived in various neighborhoods in the city and Dib is my favorite! I find myself comparing other places to Dib. The green curry with tofu is my go to. Great food, friendly staff with a neighborhood feel, you should check it out :)
My favorite Pad Thai ever!
Smaller portions than before...not served hot
Great tasty fresh food
Food is good,, I've been twice, got Fuentes sushi rolls each time. The Thai Tea is good too. Service is so-so. Lay time I was there I saw two hot posts brought out, no cover, left on a counter for over 5 minutes while at least 4 staff walked back and forth past them. The restaurant only has 3 people aside from myself. Finally the receptionist came from the back, talked to another staff member for a minute, then grabbed the food and walked it 10 feet to the table. Didn't find that very professional.
Portion size for the price was great and everything was delicious. Glad we decided to try this spot and can't wait to go back!
1st time at this restaurant and feel bad as it has been around for more than 10 years. Small location in a strip mall next to a medical center with free parking in lot. Had lunch and was surprised by the large amount of food vs the cost. Definately be visiting again with the whole family. Giving Dib 4 stars however it should be 4.25 stars if permitted. My only food disappointment was miso soup was overly fish stock flavored for my taste with the rest of the meal.
This place is kind of a secret with the flavors they bring to the table. Don't be afraid to order too little food because when my friends and I went and thought he had what it took to eat as much as we wanted...we kind of learned a hard lesson that we aren't superheros . Everything we were given was incredible and pretty darn delicious. Definitely worth the visit.
Good lunch menu, love their service, very quick. The food is a delight!
This restuarant is near my mom’s home in Chicago. I’ve only had the basil fried rice. Each time they carefully made my dish free of any gluten contamination. #celiac
Delicious sushi. Quality is consistently excellent and delivery has been early when I preorder.
I think they have a different cook?
I've loved this place for 13 years! But recently something has changed.
Wherever I get home from a long trip, I always stop at dib before my house! Nothing is better than celebrating being back home than noodles from Dib! Again, until recently.
I've tried three times but it's just not the same.
Good fresh quality food.I had Thai rice its spicy but good.Thai food pricey but good 👍.
This is a mom and pop style sushi restaurant which also features basil chicken and pepper beef. The service is good and is a popular local favorite. Surprisingly, another restaurant went out of business in the same location, but the food and service here are good enough that this business has survived and thrived for years.
My friend and I enjoyed the food and the service... I will come back 😆 and I recommend it. 💯
Excellent service and food.
great sushi and pretty good prices
Great selection of your staple Thai food and sushi
Excellent food and service
The temaki was excellent! I also enjoyed the basil fried rice. We will be back and with our beer next time! BYOB.
I tried vegan Goma-e a fried spinach served chilled in the form of round cube covered heavily with delicious thick cocnut sesame thai sauce! WHAT A TASTY TREAT!!! feels like desert!!! On a side I got edamame, nicely salted, fresh and soft! Great not overpriced place, highly recommended!
Great Thai lunch menu served 7ndays a week.
Have been there a few times, it’s been solid every time! Delicious maki, both the basic and special. We also love the miso soup, seaweed salad, and curry. Reasonable prices. Fast, friendly service. Very nice that it’s also BYOB.
This was my favorite neighborhood Thai spot as I used to live around the corner and would get it a few times a month. The pad thai, basil fried rice and basil chicken were almost always exceptional.
Well, yesterday I decided to grab a chicken pad thai for lunch for the first time in months. I don’t know if they got a new chef, or changed their chicken supplier, but the chicken was so stringy and chewy it was nearly inedible, and the eggs were burnt. They also used to include tofu in their chicken pad thai but i got none. This was after it took them close to 25 min to make me a pad thai, likely the most popular dish on their menu. I’m hoping it was just an off day, but this was easily the worst pad thai I’ve had from dib, and I’m sad to say, one of the worst I’ve had in the city.
Ok for sushi, not for pad Thai.
It looked a bit dirty: floors were dusty and tables were not clean.
Space was small but enough for a few tables. Service was good.
I have been going here for years. The inside is always well decorated. This time I ordered spicy scallop roll, futo maki roll, and pad Thai. Food was so delicious! Great prices too.
Great portions. Nice fresh fish and relaxing ambience.
Small inside, but good food.

Overall. It was good
All I can say is that the food is still the best. The pandemic did not affect the quality of the service or food.
First time and I'm sold! Great food and service.
Food is good. But they need more help handing take out orders. They have my
Really nice place with good food. I have ordered basil Thai with tofu and garlic Thai chicken. They were good
Thai my bum. I have had less greasy and fresher food from a Soi in Krung Thep
Me encanto la frescura de sus platos y el sabor sin igual
Very good and fast service.
Great vegan sushi
Excellent Food I enjoyed the service and the food was priced reasonably I loved it and you will too
Very kind and polite staff, clean and groovy space and bathrooms and the maki rolls were out of this world! Best sushi in Chicago!
Ton yum soup was outstanding. Sushi Platter and Sashimi Platter were fresh and very well put together. Will definitely order from here again.
Friendly staff and you can tell they care about the quality of ingredients and preparation. Best Pad See Ew I’ve ever had. Excellent salads - cucumber salad is best I’ve had in town-love the addition of beet spirals to the salad. Food is ***** and prices are still in the $ range.
Good flavorful food
Underestimated this place at first Glace but my first time ordering and im a Fan. Placing another order now 😭💘💫 everything is so flavorful and in generous portions! Worth every penny!
I'm addicted to the cashew chicken
The lunch special is a great value and a reason to come back! My husband and I loved eating here and our food was delicious.
This food is flippin AMAAAZING I am so looking forward to going back. We just moved to the area and so very happy they are here. I have been to so many Thai cuisine's And you all are 🔥🔥 and I can't get over how very wonderful everything we ordered tasted , not one single disappointment.
Hours don’t reflect the real time they close
Great sushi rolls.
I love this place!
Spring rolls with fresh Basil to die for!!!❤
Basil chicken is my favorite. Love the fresh veggies with the sweet and spicy sauce. I ask them to go light on the sugar last time and it was delicious.
Great spot. We got pad see ew with tofu and a house special noodle dish, along with spring rolls to start. Everything was delicious! I didn't try the sushi but it looked great. They even had a nice outdoor dining area set up.
I'll definitely go back!
seaweed salad, creamy Crab maki, spicy shrimp maki and the Dib noodles are all winners!!!!!
I’ve been here several times and been satisfied. However, my most recent trip will be the last. The maguro smelled funny and we did not eat it. The beef teriyaki was so over cooked and dry.
Tasty food
This place is great! I have lived across from Dib for the last year and I feel blessed, the food is delicious, consistent and inexpensive for the quality. I usually order for pick up and my order is always ready by the pick up time, service is always friendly and lastly, the free options when you order over $20 is a nice perk too. Thanks Dib for all the delicious meals from the Pad Thai to the sushi to the soups! When I'm back in the uptown area I'm def going to stop in to get my Thai / sushi fix :)
Good food and great service.
Excellent selections, well prepared, great service, ample portions left no room for dessert.
Fresh, affordable, and quick service
After a years-long hiatus, I was happy to learn that a favorite establishment from one of my old neighborhoods is still open for business. I was even more excited as this was my first dine in experience in many months. The quality of service and food had not changed one bit. A straightforward menu features clean, unique and beautifully presented versions of Thai & sushi mainstays. Small patio, large windows, and good view of streetscape round out the ambiance. So glad it's still here. Eager to go back!
The Restaurant dose not open until 5:30pm and parking is limited to three cars. The food is fare to good and the service moderate.
Customer service: up to par
Food: it was amazing! First of all, the presentation was soooo nice! The food was very delicious. My friend and I shared/ordered: the Hawaiian rice, fried tofu, dragon maki and the volcano maki. We were both full and still had leftovers.
Price: reasonable! For the portions we got, I thought it was going to be more expensive especially because we were in Chicago.
Definitely recommend!
I do wish they had a bathroom, especially to wash hands in this climate.
Great lunch specials !
Great place but NOWHERE NEAR downtown Chicago !!
Edit: waited 30 minutes for a very simple carryout. Serious attitude about asking for a plastic bag and soy sauce!
Off the list.
Fresh Asian cuisine with reasonable prices. A local favorite. Is it a Thai restaurant and sushi restaurant. My favorite sushi dish is "Volcano".
The crispy chicken basil dish is another I like to try when I don't want sushi. This dish is always hit.
Was great
Sushi was decent but the are better Thai options nearby.
Delicious and affordable Thai cuisine with friendly service.
Pad Thai is delicious. Prices are extremely reasonable and customer service is top notch. Highly recommend
Tonight is the second time Dib cancels our order without notification. This is very unprofessional from them! Why accept the order and then decline it?? This is per Uber Eats and it was the restaurant who canceled it. After waiting for almost 45 mins and living just up the street why do this? I thought you all needed support and business? I am never trying this place again!
Great Maki rolls and Thai food!
Do you want soup and bright red LIPSTICK ON THE SPOON?
How does a server not notice that???
Delicious basil fried rice
Triple tuna was ok...kinda plain w a jalapeño for $15.
Been coming here for 10 years. Delicious, fresh, awesome menu and service. My go to. Yum. I'm here right now lol.
I've bought food from this place several times but it looks like they don't listen. I'm not that one person to make bad reviews but I think it's important they know what's happening. The chicken padthai they now served is just horrible. I think the Cook County Jail serves better noodles. These are dry, tasteless. I called them back and told them how bad these noodles were and they said "oh just say next time you don't want dry noodles". Seriously, I ordered padthai chicken not dry noodles. I've bought padthai chicken from other places and they're juicy. I was embarrassed to have my friends eat this food. I contemplated going back to the restaurant and have my money back but I just couldn't do it. Hopefully my review could help them improve this dish. I will never buy anything from this place again.
Yummy food cash discount and takes orders on the phone.
Really good
The freshest sushi on the Northside! Ample portions and good service. Food is consistently delicious and there are no surprises. Have been many times, highly recommend.
Support local businesses! I love this place! The prices are great! The food always great!
